A King's Disbelief

“While you’re doing that, could you explain something to me?” King Sombra asked.

Twilight looked up from the book, nodding slowly, curious about what he wanted to know.

“Alright, Sparkle,” King Sombra said, frowning as he crossed his forelegs. “Before we keep going in circles, explain to me—what did my counterpart in your world do to react so badly the first time you saw me?”

Twilight stared at him wide-eyed, as if she was about to delve into a complicated topic. She took a moment to gather her thoughts before responding.

“Well, in Equestria,” Twilight began, with a tone that mixed seriousness and a slight tremor, “you are King Sombra, and in our world, you’re the leader of an invasion trying to conquer all of Equestria. You’re the main villain in a series of events that nearly destroyed our home. Literally, you are the embodiment of chaos and darkness.”

King Sombra looked at her with a mix of disbelief and astonishment, as if someone had just told him something incredible.

“What?” he exclaimed, letting out an incredulous laugh. “Me, the main villain? That’s… that’s… absurd!”

Twilight nodded, trying to maintain her composure while wondering if she had chosen the worst possible way to describe his counterpart.

“Yes, that’s right,” she said, with a tone trying to be calm despite her evident confusion. “You’re a being of pure evil, with dark powers that almost destroyed everything we love. The first time we saw you, you became a terrifying shadow that nearly wiped everything out.”

King Sombra stood frozen in surprise, his face contorted in a grimace of disbelief. He began pacing back and forth, as if trying to process the fact that he had just discovered he was the evil version in this story.

“Really?” he asked, eyes wide open. “Me, the villain? This is total madness! In my world, I’m a noble and respected ruler. There’s nothing chaotic or dark about me! Well, the name…”

Twilight shrugged, trying to show sympathy that she wasn’t sure was enough to calm King Sombra’s apparent identity crisis.

“Well, that seems to be the big difference between our worlds,” Twilight said. “To us, you’re the personification of everything we don’t want to be. Perhaps in your reality, the concept of ‘villain’ doesn’t apply in the same way.”

King Sombra slumped into a nearby chair, with an expression of resignation and astonishment, as if he had just received news that would change his perception of the universe.

“This is… this is too much,” he murmured. “I don’t know if I’m in a strange dream or if I’m really in the middle of this mess.”

Twilight tried to hold back a smile as she watched King Sombra cope with the news that he was the villain in another world.

The contrast between the seriousness of the situation and King Sombra’s disbelief only made the conversation even more surreal.

“I know,” Twilight said. “Sometimes, the multiverse has a very peculiar sense of humor. Let’s see how we can sort this out before we face more surprises.”

King Sombra nodded slowly, still trying to process the idea that he was the villain in a parallel universe. Although the situation remained bewildering, at least there seemed to be a path toward resolution, and that was what they needed most at that moment.

Twilight looked at King Sombra, frowning as she wondered how it was possible that, despite being in a parallel dimension, he looked exactly like the King Sombra from her own world. The mane, the eyes, the fangs, even the clothes he was wearing. She couldn’t help but notice his attire, which, in her opinion, did nothing to dispel his villainous reputation.

“It’s curious,” Twilight said, looking with a hint of surprise, “but you dress exactly like the King Sombra from our world. It’s like you’re following a manual on ‘How to be a Villain in Fashion.’”

King Sombra raised an eyebrow, clearly offended. He adjusted his cape with a mix of dignity and disdain, making a small pout.

“This is the attire of a king!” he declared with wounded arrogance. “It’s not my fault if I have a style that screams ‘Evil’ rather than ‘benevolent’.”

Twilight couldn’t help but laugh. The sight of King Sombra pouting while defending his wardrobe was too comical.

King Sombra stood frozen in surprise, watching as Twilight laughed. His gaze filled with disbelief as he saw her hiding behind a book she had taken from a nearby shelf.

“So, you know how to laugh?” King Sombra asked, with a mix of astonishment and fascination in his voice.

Twilight, embarrassed and caught in her attempt to hide her laughter, slowly lifted her head from behind the book. Her face was red, and her eyes sparkled with a mix of amusement and embarrassment.

“Yes, I guess I do,” she said, trying to look serious as she tried to regain her composure. “But really, your pouts are quite comical.”

King Sombra frowned as he realized that his attempt to maintain dignity had resulted in a source of entertainment for Twilight. His expression shifted to a mix of frustration and resignation but also a hint of amusement.

“Well, at least now I know I can make you laugh,” King Sombra said, with a tone that tried to be serious but was clearly influenced by the humorous situation. “Apparently, I’m the fashion villain in your world.”

Twilight let out one last chuckle while trying to hide her face in the book. Although the situation remained perplexing, at least they had found a moment to share a laugh amid the interdimensional chaos.

“Yes, something like that,” Twilight said, still trying not to laugh. “Now, let’s get back to solving this before our sense of humor is the only thing left.”

They both shared a smile, and as King Sombra tried to regain his dignity, Twilight prepared to tackle the next challenge in their complicated mess.
