My life in Equestria
Is it a farewell or a goodbye?
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe day Twilight and I had to break up will remain etched in my memory as one of the most painful moments of my life. We were immersed in our research into the mysterious selenic mare, a legend that I thought was nothing more than a tale to lull young ponies to sleep. However, the signs pointed to an imminent return. Twilight, with her usual enthusiasm, was convinced that something great was afoot.
A few days later, Princess Celestia came into our office with a serious expression. "Twilight, Mady, I have important news to tell you," she began. Twilight, her eyes shining with curiosity, looked up from her notes, while I paused in my study, a feeling of uneasiness rising in me. Celestia continued, "Twilight, you have to move to Ponyville to complete a large-scale mission." Her words were clear, but the sadness in Twilight's eyes was palpable.
Hearing this, I put my hand on Twilight's shoulder, trying to hide my own anxiety. "Don't worry, Twilight. I'm sure we'll see each other again soon," I said with a confidence I didn't really feel. I wanted to believe that everything would work out, that we would quickly return to our old daily lives. But deep down, a voice told me that this separation would be long and difficult.
So, Twilight left for Ponyville, leaving behind a void that I struggled to fill. I was alone until Princess Luna returned, sharing tasks with her that brought us together, but that could never replace the friendship I had with Twilight. The distance did its work and, little by little, our exchanges became increasingly rare. I learned that Twilight had settled into her new environment, surrounded herself with loyal and valued friends, and found a place in Ponyville society. During this time, I had continued my life in Canterlot, spending time getting to grips with my new responsibilities and preparing for a future that I didn't yet know. I quickly joined the royal guard. The years passed, and to my surprise, I found myself crowned as the Princess of Equestria. Celestia and Luna, who had supported me throughout this transition, helped me adapt to this new role. Although this coronation seemed unexpected to me, it seems that Celestia and Luna had been thinking about this decision for some time. My function was now that of Princess of Astronomy and Defense, a crucial role that involved not only watching over celestial threats but also supervising the guards. By then, Twilight had also been crowned princess, the princess of friendship, which, in itself, is quite ironic. Despite the recognition of her title, I didn't really remember her. Every time she came to Canterlot, I was on a mission, so we never ran into each other.
When Princess Luna announced my visit to Ponyville, there was a wave of surprise among the town's residents. A sixth princess, in addition to Flurry Heart, and most importantly, a princess they had never seen before, even before Twilight's coronation. It was a mystery that many seemed eager to solve. The day of my first visit to Ponyville, although I went there as a child, memories were hazy. The guards led Celestia, Luna, Cadance and me to the party room where the ceremony would take place. Stress came over me when I realized that I would have to speak in public. The prospect of making a speech terrified me. I wasn't naturally sociable, and the thought of being in the spotlight made me deeply anxious. I remembered Celestia's words: "Mady, you have worked hard to reach this position. Take a deep breath, and you'll be fine. We are all here to support you. Despite his encouragement, I doubted my ability to live up to it. Why had I agreed to be introduced? I was so much more comfortable in anonymity. I closed my eyes to try to calm myself, and when I opened them again, I was struck by two simultaneous surprises: the room was now crowded with ponies, and the other princesses were already on stage. Calm down, breathe, exhale. Why am I so nervous? What have I done to deserve this attention? Oh yes, I saved Equestria from a giant asteroid. After this moment of panic, Princess Celestia motioned for me to enter the stage. My heart was beating so fast that I thought it was going to explode. I advanced, the crown on my head, and every step seemed to me a feat. As soon as they appeared, the room burst into applause, and the ponies' faces lit up. As I stood in the center of the stage, I realized with astonishment that I was facing Twilight and her friends.
"My dear friends, today we have the honor to introduce you to Princess Mady! Princess Celestia announced.
I took a step forward, a shy smile on my lips. Twilight seemed totally stunned. Her surprise was obvious, both by the fact that I had become a princess and by seeing myself again after all this time. But before I could react, many ponies were crowding around me, curious and enthusiastic. Twilight's friends seemed particularly interested.
'Excuse me, princess, but why haven't we ever seen you before? Applejack asked with a candid look.
'In reality, I'm often on missions for Princess Celestia, so I'm not here frequently,' I replied.
"You seem to know the other princesses well. Is this true? Rainbow Dash asked with a look of excitement.
"Yes, indeed. Luna is my mentor, Celestia is my teacher, and Cadance is my advisor," I said jovially.
Pinkie Pie stepped forward. ''And what does your beauty brand stand for? '' she asked as she jumped, her eyes shining with excitement.
I smile as I look at her. "It represents astrology and fighting. ’’
''How did you become a princess? Twilight asked, her voice betraying some anxiety.
'I was crowned after I stopped an asteroid from crashing into Equestria,' I replied as I looked at her.
I noticed the shocked expression on Twilight's face when I heard my answer, but at that point, I hadn't yet made the connection between her and the friend I'd known. The ceremony soon came to an end, and all the guests were invited to a buffet to get to know me better. Although I was uncomfortable, the other princesses had reassured and encouraged me. Soon after, I found myself talking with Cadance, her husband, Luna, and Celestia. Even Twilight's brother, Shining Armor, was there, but I almost didn't recognize him, especially with his role in the royal guard. Finally, the group that had asked me the most questions approached me.
Rarity, the most creative of the bunch, approached first. 'Princess Mady, may I ask you where you got these beautiful sapphires? '' she asked with sincere admiration in her eyes.
"Oh, I discovered them on a mission to the kingdom of the Hippogriphes. It was a fascinating experience,' I replied.
Applejack introduced himself in turn. ''Nice to meet you, princess. Don't pay attention to Rarity, she's passionate about stones, a bit like Spike, the dragon in our group! In any case, I'm Applejack. ’’
"And I'm Rarity. I'm excited to meet you, princess," Rarity added with a beaming smile.
Rainbow Dash then introduced herself. ''I'm Rainbow Dash, the fastest pegasus and a member of the Wonderbolts! If you ever need a gust of wind, I'm here for you,' she exclaimed with a bright smile.
Fluttershy, in a soft, shy voice, says, 'M-me, it's Fluttershy. ’’
Pinkie Pie, with boundless energy, cried out, "Me! I. Am. PINKIE PIE! '' while hopping.
Twilight drew closer. "I'm Twilight Sparkle, princess of friendship. To my right, you'll find Starlight, and to my left, Spike. ’’
'Nice to meet you, everyone,' I said.
Twilight then asked, her obvious curiosity, 'May I ask you a question, princess? ’’
"Of course, what can I do for you? I replied.
"Do you remember me? She asked with a smile that mixed warmth and hesitation.
"I'm afraid I don't remember you, Twilight. Where do we know each other from? I replied, puzzled.
'Oh... In fact, there was a student with the same name and color as you at Celestia's school," Twilight explained.
Shining Armor, upon hearing this, exclaimed, "My Twilight! '' by taking her in his arms with sincere tenderness.
"Oh, you can use me on a first-name basis. And now that you mention it, I have a vague memory of a Twi— Wait, my TWILIGHT Sparkle?! I cried, finally realizing.
Twilight nodded with a beaming smile.
We will be in an embrace with mixtures of several emotions. The evening continued in an atmosphere of camaraderie and joy. I took the time to apologize to Shining Armor for forgetting about him and for calling him "sugar guard," a reference to a memorable incident where he fell during a race, much like a bag of sugar. I also spent time getting to know Twilight's friends better. They were all as charming as I had imagined. Despite my reserved nature, I quickly felt at ease with them. Their warm welcome and open-mindedness made the evening even more enjoyable. As for Twilight, reuniting with my dear friend Twilly was a great joy. We spent the rest of the evening together, exchanging memories, making up for lost time, and renewing the bonds of a precious friendship.
The evening continued with an atmosphere of warmth and conviviality. Conversations were going well, mixing bursts of laughter and lively exchanges. Twilight and I were surrounded by her friends and the other princesses, each bringing her own unique touch to the evening. Cadance and her husband, Shining Armor, were a charming duo, sharing anecdotes about their adventures together. Luna, as mysterious as ever, seemed delighted to watch me as usual, while Celestia moved gracefully among the guests, offering her advice with maternal sweetness.
As the buffet was open, I engaged in more in-depth discussions with the ponies present. Rarity, always elegant, passionately explained to me her fashion projects for Ponyville and how she had incorporated elements of ancient culture into her designs. "You know, princess, I recently designed a collection inspired by the stars and constellations. I'd love to hear what you think," she said with a look shining with enthusiasm.
Applejack, meanwhile, told me the details of her life at Sweet Apple Acres. She was a well-known source of knowledge about apple farming and the challenges of rural life. "You should definitely try the apples from our orchard. They are cultivated with so much care and love. And then, I'd like to know how you handle royal responsibilities while staying close to your roots," she asked me with a sincerity that impressed me.
Rainbow Dash, with her usual energy, told me about her exploits as a member of the Wonderbolts. She enthusiastically described their rigorous training and air shows. "Speed is my specialty. If you ever need someone to give you a gust of wind or help you fly, I'm your pegasus! She exclaimed with a bright smile.
Fluttershy, though more reserved, shared touching stories about her interactions with the creatures of the forest. Her soft, melodious voice created a soothing atmosphere around her. "I always find great comfort in nature and animals. Maybe one day you can visit my animal sanctuary. I'm sure you'll enjoy the tranquility and beauty of this place," she suggested with charming shyness.
Pinkie Pie, with her boundless energy, even threw a small impromptu party in honor of my visit. She had prepared games, songs, and treats that filled the room with laughter and joy. "You have to try raspberry cake! It's special because I did it myself. And we absolutely have to organize a big party to celebrate your arrival! She said, jumping with joy.
I didn't know where to start, all I could do was show a simple courtesy smile. Twilight, on the other hand, would guide me through the bands, introducing me to influential ponies and telling me anecdotes about their past interactions. Her joy was palpable, and I could see how much she had found her place in Ponyville. We had the opportunity to talk in private, away from the hustle and bustle of the party. "Mady, it's so amazing to see you again after all this time. You haven't changed, at least not for me," she said, her eyes shining with emotion.
I took a deep breath, words failing me a little to express what I felt. "Twilight, I don't even know where to start. Seeing how much you've evolved and how happy you are here, it touches me deeply. I'm so proud of you. And even though the distance was difficult, I'm happy that we were able to meet again. ’’
Twilight smiles, tears in her eyes. "I'm so happy to see you again, too. We've been through so much together. ’’
The rest of the evening was spent in a whirlwind of festivities. The discussions, laughter and moments of sharing created unforgettable memories. The evening ended on a sweet note, as the guests dispersed, giving way to a more intimate atmosphere. Twilight and I, exhausted but happy, stayed together a little longer, sharing memories, dreams, and plans for the future.
As the last guests left the room, Twilight took me by the paw, a warm smile on her lips. "I really hope this is not a farewell, but a goodbye. I know that our paths will continue to cross, and I look forward to new adventures with you. ’’
I smiled back at him, with a light heart. "I hope so too, Twilight. I can't wait to see what the future holds. And I know that, whatever happens, we will always remain bound by our friendship. ’’
We hugged each other one last time before parting, promising to stay in touch and never let the distance separate us again. The evening had been a resounding success, and I knew that, despite the challenges that lay ahead, our friendship would continue to shine like a star in the sky of Equestria. It was a memorable evening, marked by moving reunions and moments of sincere sharing. I was happy to have Twilight back, and I knew that, despite the years that had passed and the divergent paths, our friendship would remain strong. But that was before I remembered that I could teleport.
