The Pink Death

As the keys were typed on that damn old machine, Blueshift decided to get some rest for the day, she went on the bed in her room and laid stomach up. She stared at the ceiling, not falling asleep, but bringing back some old memories…

Blueshift was sitting at the park bench, while Highbeam and Twilight played in the grass together. Blueshift is around 10 years older than Highbeam so she decided to take on the babysitting job to earn some bits before moving out of her parents house.

Since the age difference, Twilight and Highbeam were both foals at this time, both using their magic to carry sticks and use them like swords. After a long day the two foals were now talking about stories they heard at school, but they couldn’t stay up for long as they soon fell asleep.

Blueshift walked up to the two sleeping foals and picked them up and put them on her back as she walked back to their house.

“Do you really have to go?” Said the young Twilight, Highbeam had to leave since their sleepover was done and it was now the next day.

“Yes Twi, the sleepover’s done and I have to get back home before my mom worries, she can be a bit…protective when she worries about me…”

“B-But but but-” Twi tried to retort with tears appearing before a wing wrapped around her side.

“It’s alright Twilight, it’s not like the world is ending, you see him again very soon, it’s just that you had your sleepover and now he has to go back home.” Blueshift said in a comforting motherly tone as she used her wing to pull the crying filly in her hug.

Blueshift laid on the bed with small tears forming, she missed the old days when they were together, always there for each other. She couldn't hold those old memories forever, so she turned to the side and closed her eyes to sleep…

Twilight turned her attention from Cadence to Celestia, her mind thinking of her plot to get revenge, the white alicorn now decided to check up on her closest pony, besides Luna.

“Hello Twilight. I’m so glad you came to this party, I wanted to talk to you, what you have been doing and just to check up on a friend.” Celestia said to her in a calm tone, Celestia was good at that, she is a normal pony underneath that princess mask she holds when around other ponies, only Luna can see the real pony within her.

“Well Celestia, I have been doing pretty great with my studies, and have gotten some time with friends, this is one party I must say.”

“My my, you're in a good mood Twi!” Cadence said to Twi as she chuckled, the mare just looked at her and started talking to her again about other things.

But while Twi was talking to Cadence, Celestia’s eyes narrowed at Twilight, even if Twi didn’t see her doing it. Those two words stuck out, Good Mood. She knew something was up with her, she never sounded like this, this can’t be the Twilight she knows, but, it is Twilight who stands in front of her. She shook her head trying to get those weird thoughts out of her mind.

It had been around 30 minutes and the party was ending with each pony walking out the door.

“It was fun talking to you again, see you around!” Cadence said giving another hug to Twilight before Twi got out the door and disappeared in the hall. Cadence had a happy smile to her sister, while Celestia still had confusion in her face as she spoke up.

“D-Did she seem…different, to you?” At that Cadence looked up to the princess, her happy demeanor faltering instantly.

“What do you mean..?”

“She…seemed more happy..”

“Well yea I noticed it too, but she might just be in a good mood after all. She was able to meet up with us after a while.”

That did make sense, Celestia looked through all her memories from her over 1000 years of living as she tried to compare Twilight before today, and the Twilight she saw. The first thing she noticed was her personality. Then her….

Wait, purple eyes…pink eyes..? Wait, no..it’s impossible, it can’t be…

Celestia’s face contorted from confusion to slight panic. Cadence was about to say something but a guard came from the door and to the throne holding something.

“Princess! We got a photo from the PonyVille museum.” With that he handed the photograph to the princess, Tia then took the photo and when she looked at it her heart skipped a beat as she froze in place, her eyes widening.

The photo was one in a big room, with the center having a quartz pillar, a glass box on the floor, and a certain thing missing from the pillar, with police tape surrounding the pillar allowing no pony to get close to it. Her mind connected the dots, but Tia wanted to try again and again, but each time the result of connecting the dots was the same.

Nononononono….T-This can’t be….we haven’t had one in so long..but…Twilight…..no NO NO!

Twilight walked out of the big doors, as she walked out she turned back to the two guard ponies at the door. She sat on the ground with a smirk and put her hooves in the air. Both the guards were confused, but then saw thin pink strings come from the sky and wrap around their legs.

With Twi moving her hooves, the guard floated up in the air like puppets on strings…well…they were… Twilight began moving her hooves in an elegant pattern causing the guards to float around in the sky like a ballet performance, both the guards were screaming in fear and confusion, while the purple pony giggled on the floor like a filly.

When Twi was done playing with a yawn, she curled a hoof causing both guards to turn to ash and fly in the wind. Twilight just stood up and continued walking back home.

The guard had backed up and gone out of the room when the princess started shaking a bit, still staring at the photo. Cadence wondered why Tia was so surprised by this photo, her eyes filled with worry as she looked at the white alicorn, seeing a tear roll down Celestia’s cheek as she kept staring at the photo.
