The Road to Cerulean City

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Yona and Silverstream, although victorious, left the Pewter City Gym without the rest of their friends. As they were about to depart, they heard a voice behind them—it was Sandbar.

Sandbar ran after them, calling out. “Girls, hold on!”

Yona and Silverstream turned around to see Sandbar running toward them.

“What is it, Sandbar?” Silverstream asked.

Sandbar panted a bit, handing them ₽1386. “Brock almost forgot to give you this.”

Silverstream smiled as she took the money and put it in her bag. “Thanks, Sandbar.”

Sandbar returned her smile. “Brock also mentioned that there will be trainers up ahead, so make sure you buy some potions to heal your Pokémon.”

Silverstream nodded. “Okay, tell Brock we said thank you.”

Sandbar nodded again, looking at the two. “Be safe out there. I have a feeling we’ll be facing even stronger opponents going forward.”

“Don’t you worry. Yona and I will be fine, right Yona?”

Yona stomped her hooves confidently. “Yeah! Yona and Bulbasaur strong!”

Sandbar chuckled, smiling. “Alright, we’ll meet you at Cerulean City.”

Silverstream and Yona nodded, waving goodbye to Sandbar. As the two walked, Silverstream turned to Yona.

“Let’s get our Pokémon healed up and stock up on some supplies.”

Yona nodded in agreement. They headed to the Pokémon Center, and once their Pokémon were healed, they went to the Poké Mart. After buying more Pokéballs and potions, they were ready to head to Cerulean City.

Silverstream and Yona trekked along the path, enjoying the beautiful scenery. They decided to split up to search for any Pokémon to catch.

Silverstream ventured further, encountering many Pokémon, though none seemed to suit her. As she kept walking, she came across a girl in a school uniform.

The girl spotted her and called out. “Hey, you! Would you like to have a Pokémon battle?”

Silverstream, eager to train her Pokémon more, grinned. “Sure!”

The girl smiled, holding out a Pokéball. “Alright, Pidgey, let’s go!”

A Pidgey was released onto the battlefield, flying high in the sky.

Silverstream smirked confidently. “A Pidgey? Let’s do this, Squirtle!”

Squirtle emerged from its Pokéball, ready for battle.

“Pidgey, use Tackle!” the girl commanded.

Pidgey swooped down, aiming for Squirtle.

“Squirtle, meet it head-on with Tackle!” Silverstream shouted.

The two Pokémon collided mid-air, each stepping back slightly.

“Now, use Bubble!”

Squirtle shot out a stream of bubbles, hitting Pidgey and dampening its wings.

“Alright, now use Tackle again!”

Squirtle jumped and struck Pidgey, causing it to faint.

“Way to go, Squirtle!” Silverstream cheered excitedly.

The girl returned her Pidgey and pulled out another Pokéball. “You may have beaten one of my Pidgey, but can you handle another?”

Another Pidgey emerged, ready for battle.

“Alright, Squirtle, we’ve done it once; we can do it again! Use Tackle!”

Squirtle charged at the second Pidgey, but this time, the Pidgey dodged.

“Pidgey, use Gust!” the girl commanded.

Pidgey flapped its wings, sending a powerful gust of wind toward Squirtle, knocking it to the ground.

“Squirtle, are you okay?” Silverstream asked, concerned.

“Squirtle!” it responded confidently.

“Good! Let’s finish this with Bubble!”

Squirtle unleashed another stream of bubbles, striking Pidgey and knocking it out.

“Alright! Way to go, Squirtle!” Silverstream hugged her Pokémon tightly.

The girl smiled as she approached them. “That was a great battle! Here, take this as a reward for your victory.”

Silverstream accepted ₽135, smiling. “Thank you!”

“No problem! Just remember, when you win a battle, trainers will reward you with money. But if you lose, you’ll have to pay them instead.”

“Got it! Thanks for the advice,” Silverstream said before heading off with Squirtle, feeling stronger than before.

Meanwhile, Yona was walking along a dirt path when she encountered a boy holding a bug net.

“I’ve caught so many Bug-type Pokémon! Want to see them in battle?” the Bug Catcher asked, holding out a Pokéball.

Yona nodded. “Bring it on! Yona and Bulbasaur will face you!”

“Alright! Let’s go, Caterpie!” the Bug Catcher called, sending out his Caterpie.

“Bulbasaur, let’s go!” Yona shouted, throwing her Pokéball.

“Caterpie, use Tackle!”

Caterpie charged at Bulbasaur, but Bulbasaur dodged with ease.

“Bulbasaur, use Tackle, too!”

Bulbasaur charged forward, slamming into Caterpie and knocking it out.

“Alright, Bulbasaur!” Yona cheered.

The Bug Catcher returned his Caterpie and sent out another Pokémon. “We’re not done yet! Go, Weedle!”

A small, bug-like Pokémon with a sharp needle on its head appeared.

Yona took out her Pokédex. “What’s that Pokémon?”

Weedle, the Hairy Bug Pokémon. Often found in forests, eating leaves. It has a sharp, venomous stinger on its head.

“A new bug? Well, let’s squash it! Bulbasaur, Tackle!”

Bulbasaur charged at Weedle, striking it down and winning the battle.

The Bug Catcher sighed, handing Yona ₽120. “Good job.”

Yona smiled. “Yona strong! Yona and Bulbasaur strong together!”

After battling several trainers, Silverstream and Yona reunited, both looking exhausted.

“Sandbar wasn’t kidding—these trainers are tough,” Silverstream said, panting.

“Yeah… Yona fought so much, Yona ran out of potions,” Yona said, shaking an empty potion bottle.

Silverstream looked around and spotted a Pokémon Center. “Look! A Pokémon Center!”

The two quickly made their way to the center, avoiding further trainer battles. Once inside, they handed their Pokémon to Nurse Joy and sat down to catch their breath.

As the two waited in the Pokémon Center, catching their breath, a salesman approached them.

“Excuse me, girls. Could I interest you in a rare Pokémon for your adventure? It’s only ₽500,” he said with a sly grin.

Yona’s ears perked up, her curiosity piqued. “Yona buy rare Pokémon for ₽500? Yona accepts!”

Yona handed over the ₽500, and in return, the salesman gave her a Pokéball.

“Pleasure doing business with you! By the way, no refunds,” the salesman said, chuckling as he left the Pokémon Center.

Yona examined the Pokéball curiously before releasing the Pokémon inside. Out came a flopping fish-like creature, splashing about on the floor.

“Karp! Karp!” the Pokémon chanted as it flailed.

Silverstream tilted her head, puzzled. “Uh… what kind of Pokémon is that?”

Yona pointed her Pokédex at the creature.

Magikarp, the Fish Pokémon. In the distant past, it was somewhat stronger than the horribly weak descendants that exist today.

“Wait… weak? Did that salesman just trick you?” Silverstream asked, checking the Pokédex. “It only knows one move—Splash.”

Yona sighed, stomping her hooves angrily. “Salesman tricked Yona! But… Yona and Bulbasaur will make Magikarp strong!”

Magikarp flopped excitedly at Yona’s words. “Karp! Karp!”

Shortly after, Nurse Joy returned with their healed Pokémon. Feeling refreshed, the two set off again, following the path to Cerulean City. Soon, they came upon a towering mountain with a cave entrance.

Silverstream read a sign near the entrance. “Mt. Moon… It looks like we’ll have to go through here to reach Cerulean City.”

Yona nodded. “Yona ready!”

The two ventured into the cave, where the air was damp, and the walls were lined with small craters resembling meteorite impacts. It was dark, and the sound of dripping water echoed throughout.

“I think we should stick together,” Silverstream said nervously, glancing at the shadows.

“Good idea,” Yona agreed.

As they moved deeper, they encountered bat-like Pokémon flying above them. A small Geodude suddenly rolled into their path, catching Yona’s attention.

“Yona wants Geodude! Geodude strong!” Yona’s voice echoed, drawing Geodude’s focus.

The Geodude charged toward them, forcing Silverstream and Yona to leap aside.

“Bulbasaur, let’s go!” Yona shouted, tossing her Pokéball.

“Geo!” the Geodude bellowed as it lunged at Bulbasaur.

“Bulbasaur, dodge and use Tackle!” Yona commanded.

Bulbasaur deftly dodged and slammed into Geodude, knocking it back. The Geodude retaliated with a hard Tackle, but Bulbasaur quickly recovered.

“Finish it with another Tackle!”

Bulbasaur charged again, slamming into Geodude and leaving it dazed on the ground.

“Now, Pokéball go!” Yona cried, throwing a Pokéball.

The Pokéball struck Geodude, sucking it inside. It wobbled violently on the ground.

1 shake… 2 shakes… 3 shakes… click

“Yona caught Geodude!” Silverstream cheered, clapping her hands.

“Yeah! Yona strong!” Yona stomped her hooves proudly.

“Are you going to nickname it?”

“Hmm… Yona will call it… Rockhorn!”

“Rockhorn, huh? I like it!” Silverstream said, beaming.

As they ventured further into the cave, the two came upon a long, rocky bridge. Sunlight peeked through the cave’s exit at the other end.

“Look, Yona! An exit!” Silverstream said excitedly, rushing forward.

“Thank goodness! Yona tired of bat Pokémon!”

They started to cross the bridge but stopped when they noticed two suspicious figures in matching white uniforms with a bold red “R” on their chests.

The pair had cornered a small, pink, bipedal Pokémon clutching a shiny stone.

“C-Clefairy!” the Pokémon cried, trembling.

Silverstream gasped. “Hey! Leave that Clefairy alone!”

The two individuals turned around, smirking.

“Prepare for trouble!” the woman shouted.

“And make it double!” the man added.

“To protect the world from devastation! To unite all peoples within our nation! To denounce the evils of truth and love! To extend our reach to the stars above! Jessie! James! Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light! Surrender now, or prepare to fight!”

“Meowth, that’s right!” chimed in a small, cat-like Pokémon.

“Well, well, look what we have here—a couple of nosy kids,” Jessie sneered. “Guess we’ll have to teach them a lesson! Go, Ekans!”

“Let’s go, Koffing!” James added.

The two tossed their Pokéballs, releasing a snake-like Ekans and a gas-spewing Koffing.

Silverstream pointed her Pokédex at the Pokémon.

Ekans, the Snake Pokémon. Moves silently and stealthily. Eats the eggs of birds, such as Pidgey and Spearow, whole.

Koffing, the Poison Gas Pokémon. Stores several kinds of toxic gases in its body and is prone to exploding without warning.

“Let’s take these bullies down, Yona!” Silverstream declared.

“Yona ready! Bulbasaur, let’s go!”

“Squirtle, you’re up too!”

Bulbasaur and Squirtle faced off against Ekans and Koffing.

“Ekans, Wrap attack!” Jessie commanded.

“Koffing, use Tackle!” James shouted.

“Bulbasaur, Vine Whip on Ekans!” Yona countered.

“Squirtle, use Water Gun on Koffing!” Silverstream followed up.

Bulbasaur’s vines lashed out, striking Ekans and sending it sprawling. Squirtle’s Water Gun doused Koffing, knocking it out of the air. Both enemy Pokémon fainted.

Jessie growled. “These twerps are stronger than they look! Meowth, do something!”

“Eh?! What do you want me to do? Scratch them?” Meowth retorted.

Meowth leapt forward, claws extended. “Here come the claws!”

Before it could land a hit, Bulbasaur and Squirtle both attacked, sending Meowth flying back to Jessie and James.

“This isn’t over!” Jessie shouted, throwing a smoke bomb.

As the smoke cleared, Team Rocket was gone.

Silverstream grinned. “Yeah, that’ll show them!”

The timid Clefairy approached them, holding out the Moon Stone it had been protecting.

Silverstream accepted it with a smile. “Thank you, Clefairy.”

The Clefairy nodded before hopping back into the shadows.

The two crossed the rocky bridge, coming upon one last trainer blocking the cave exit. He was a bespectacled nerd holding two strange fossils.

“Hey, I saw you two take down Team Rocket. Impressive! If you beat me in a battle, I’ll let you choose one of these fossils!”

Silverstream and Yona exchanged glances.

“Silverstream, you take the fossil. Yona doesn’t need one,” Yona said.

Silverstream nodded. “Alright, I’ll battle you for it!”

The two squared off in an intense battle, but after several minutes, Silverstream emerged victorious.

“Squirtle, we did it!” Silverstream cheered, hugging her Pokémon.

Squirtle’s body began to glow, causing Silverstream to step back in awe. Her Squirtle grew taller, its ears and tail becoming more pronounced.

“Wartortle!” the evolved Pokémon roared.

Silverstream, still in shock, pointed her Pokédex.

Wartortle, the Turtle Pokémon, and the evolved form of Squirtle. Often hides in water to stalk unwary prey. For swimming fast, it moves its ears to maintain balance.

“Squirtle evolved? That’s so cool!”

The nerd returned his fainted Pokémon and held out two fossils: one resembling a horseshoe crab and the other a spiraled shell.

“Which fossil do you want?”

Silverstream chose the horseshoe crab fossil.

“Ah, the Dome Fossil. Excellent choice!”

Silverstream thanked him and placed the fossil in her bag.

As they exited the cave, the warm sunlight was a welcome change from the damp darkness. Ahead, the vibrant blue rooftops of Cerulean City came into view.

Silverstream fluttered excitedly. “We made it! Cerulean City, here we come!”

Yona nodded, her eyes gleaming with determination. “Yona and Bulbasaur ready!”

With new Pokémon, a Moon Stone, and an evolved Wartortle, the two raced toward the city, eager to explore and prepare for the challenges ahead.

As the journey continues…

Author's Note

Decided to change their Pokémon moves since I’ve screw up the movesets a bit. I’ll fix later for the previous chapters.
