Young Six’s Journey: Adventure in the Kanto Region
Reunited in Cerulean City
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe cool breeze of Cerulean City carried the sounds of people and Pokémon alike as Yona and Silverstream wandered through the vibrant streets. Their exploration led them to a small house for injured Pokémon. Inside, they found several Pokémon recovering, including a Bulbasaur.
A kind woman approached them with a warm smile. “I’ve been caring for these injured Pokémon, including this Bulbasaur. It’s feeling much better now. Would you like to take it?”
Silverstream knelt down, meeting Bulbasaur’s gaze. She smiled softly. “I’d love to take care of it.”
The woman nodded as Bulbasaur walked over to Silverstream.
“Hey there, little guy. Welcome to the team, Lilyvine!”
With a new Pokémon in tow, the two left the house and continued exploring the city before heading to the Pokémon Center. After a few hours, the automatic doors slid open, and a familiar voice called out to them.
“Yona! Silverstream!”
The two turned to see Smolder, Gallus, Sandbar, and Ocellus entering with their Pokémon by their sides. Gallus held up a shiny Boulder Badge, a cocky grin on his face.
“Told you we’d catch up,” he said smugly.
Sandbar chuckled. “We’ve been training nonstop. Ghastbar and I are more than ready for this next gym.”
Ocellus adjusted her bag shyly. “Some of us even caught new Pokémon along the way!”
Silverstream’s ears perked up. “Ohhh! What did you guys catch?”
Gallus smirked, holding out a Pokéball. “Check this out. Come on out, Swiftwing!”
He tossed the ball, and out came a small bird Pokémon, different from a Pidgey.
Silverstream pulled out her Pokédex to scan the new Pokémon.
Spearow, the Tiny Bird Pokémon. Eats bugs in grassy areas. It has to flap its short wings at high speed to stay airborne.
Gallus puffed out his chest. “Pretty awesome, right?”
“Yeah, really awesome!” Silverstream exclaimed excitedly.
Ocellus stepped forward shyly, holding her own Pokéball. “I caught something too. Bubblechime, say hi!”
She released her Pokémon, revealing a small, pink, balloon-like creature.
Yona pulled out her Pokédex.
Jigglypuff, the Balloon Pokémon. When its huge eyes light up, it sings a mysteriously soothing melody that lulls its enemies to sleep.
“Aww, cute! Yona like!” Yona said, petting Ocellus’s Jigglypuff. She then threw her own Pokéballs to show off her Magikarp and Geodude.
“Oh, sweet! You got a Geodude?” Smolder asked, smirking.
“Yeah! Yona like Brock’s Geodude, so Yona had to get one!”
“And… what’s with the fish?” Gallus asked, raising an eyebrow as he watched the Magikarp flop around.
“Oh, that’s Yona’s Magikarp,” Silverstream explained. “She bought it from a salesman who said it was rare, but the Pokédex says it’s really weak.”
“Yeah, but Yona will make Magikarp strong!” Yona said confidently.
“I caught a new Pokémon too. Come on out, Lilyvine!” Silverstream released her Bulbasaur for everyone to see.
“A Bulbasaur? How’d you get it?” Sandbar asked curiously.
“I found it in a house for injured Pokémon. A woman offered to let me take it, and I said yes!”
“Wow, it’ll definitely help in the next gym,” Smolder said, nodding in approval.
“Oh! Guess what!” Silverstream exclaimed, throwing another Pokéball to reveal her Wartortle. “My Squirtle evolved!”
The group gasped, admiring the newly evolved Pokémon.
“Nice work, Silverstream! I’ve got an evolved Pokémon too!” Ocellus said, releasing her Butterfree.
Silverstream scanned it with her Pokédex.
Butterfree, the Butterfly Pokémon, and the final evolution of Caterpie. In battle, it flaps its wings at high speed to release highly toxic dust into the air.
“Wow! Your Caterpie evolved into a Butterfree? That’s awesome!” Silverstream exclaimed, making Ocellus blush.
“Yeah, it evolved pretty quickly,” Ocellus said with a shy smile.
“Hey, don’t forget me! My Caterpie evolved too!” Sandbar added, releasing his own Butterfree.
“Well, you two should be proud!” Silverstream said cheerfully.
“Oh, they are,” a familiar voice chimed in.
Yona and Silverstream turned to see Brock approaching, accompanied by a boy with a red cap and a tomboyish girl.
“Brock! Are you joining us on our journey?” Silverstream asked.
Brock shook his head, chuckling. “No, I’m traveling with Ash and Misty.”
Silverstream turned to the other two as they introduced themselves.
“I’m Ash from Pallet Town, and this is my buddy, Pikachu!” the boy said. A small yellow Pokémon leapt onto his shoulder.
Yona scanned it with her Pokédex.
Pikachu, the Mouse Pokémon. When several of these Pokémon gather, their electricity could cause lightning storms.
“And I’m Misty, the Cerulean Gym Leader,” the girl said, glaring at Ash. “I’m traveling with him because he destroyed my bike!”
Ash laughed nervously.
Misty smirked. “I heard about your first gym battle, so I’m challenging all six of you to two-on-one battles, just like Brock did.”
“That’s awesome!” Silverstream said, practically bouncing.
Misty clapped her hands. “Let’s head to the gym and get started!”
The group followed Misty to the Cerulean Gym, where the battlefield was covered in water with scattered rocks serving as platforms.
“So, who’s first?” Misty asked, clapping her hands together.
The Young Six split into teams: Sandbar and Silverstream, Yona and Ocellus, and Gallus and Smolder.
Sandbar and Silverstream stepped forward first.
“You ready?” Sandbar asked.
“Ready!” Silverstream replied eagerly.
The two sent out Ghastbar and Wartortle. Misty threw out her first Pokémon, a star-shaped creature.
Sandbar scanned it with his Pokédex.
Staryu, the Star Shape Pokémon. An enigmatic Pokémon that can regenerate any appendage it loses in battle.
The battle began as Sandbar called out the first move. “Ghastbar, use Night Shade!”
Purple smoke surrounded Staryu, causing it to take damage.
“Staryu, Tackle!” Misty commanded.
Staryu charged, but Ghastbar phased out of the way, and the tackle hit Wartortle instead.
“Wartortle, Tackle back!” Silverstream shouted.
Wartortle rammed into Staryu, sending it flying into the water.
“Finish it with Night Shade, Ghastbar!”
Ghastbar enveloped Staryu in purple smoke again, and the Pokémon fainted.
“Well done!” Misty said, recalling her Pokémon. She sent out her next one. “Let’s see how you handle Starmie!”
Misty’s second Pokémon appeared, a larger, more intricate starfish.
Silverstream scanned it.
Starmie, the Mysterious Pokémon. Its central core glows with the seven colors of the rainbow. Some people value the core as a gem.
The battle continued fiercely, with Misty using Bubble Beam and the duo countering with Leech Seed and Night Shade. After an intense exchange, Starmie fainted, leaving Sandbar and Silverstream victorious.
“You two did great!” Misty praised.
With Sandbar and Silverstream victorious, Yona and Ocellus stepped up next, ready to face Misty’s water Pokémon.
“Ready, Ocellus?” Yona asked, stomping her hoof with determination.
Ocellus nodded, though she looked a little nervous. “Y-Yeah, let’s do this!”
Misty smiled, tossing out her first Pokémon. “Staryu, you’re up!”
The star-shaped Pokémon splashed into the water, its core glowing faintly.
Yona and Ocellus released their Pokémon.
“Go, Magikarp!” Yona shouted, throwing her Pokéball.
“You too, Bubblechime!” Ocellus followed suit, releasing her Jigglypuff.
Misty smirked, holding back a chuckle. “A Magikarp, huh? This should be interesting. Staryu, use Tackle!”
Staryu shot forward, slamming into Magikarp, but Yona’s Pokémon held on, flopping stubbornly in the water.
“Bubblechime, Sing!” Ocellus commanded.
Jigglypuff began to sing its soothing melody, and Staryu’s movements slowed before it drifted off to sleep.
“Now, use Pound!”
Bubblechime hopped over to the snoozing Staryu and delivered a hard hit, knocking it into the water.
“Magikarp, use your tail to send it flying!” Yona shouted.
Magikarp leapt out of the water and smacked its tail against Staryu, finishing the battle.
Misty returned Staryu, her smile unwavering. “Not bad, but let’s see how you handle my Starmie!”
She tossed her next Pokéball, and the larger starfish Pokémon appeared, its gem-like core pulsing.
“Starmie, Bubble Beam!”
A torrent of bubbles shot out, hitting both Jigglypuff and Magikarp. Magikarp fainted immediately.
“Magikarp, return!” Yona said, grabbing another Pokéball. “Let’s go, Bulbasaur!”
Her Bulbasaur appeared on the battlefield, ready to battle.
“Bubblechime, use Pound again!”
Jigglypuff charged at Starmie, landing a hit, but Starmie retaliated with a powerful Tackle, sending it flying back.
“Jigglypuff, return!” Ocellus called. “Silky Snap, your turn!”
Her Butterfree hovered onto the battlefield.
“Bulbasaur, use Vine Whip!” Yona commanded.
The vines lashed out, wrapping around Starmie and pulling it down.
“Silky Snap, use Confusion!”
Butterfree’s psychic attack hit Starmie directly, causing it to stagger.
“Finish it with another Vine whip, Bulbasaur!”
Bulbasaur’s vines strikes Starmie and leaving it unable to battle.
“You’ve got some impressive teamwork!” Misty said, recalling her Pokémon. “Great job, both of you!”
Yona and Ocellus exchanged smiles and high-fives, celebrating their victory.
Suddenly, Yona’s Bulbasaur started to glow. It was starting to evolve.
Yona watched in awe, watching her Pokémon change.
“Ivysaur!” The newly evolved Ivysaur roared.
Yona scanned her newly evolved Pokémon.
Ivysaur, the seed Pokémon, and the evolved form of Bulbasaur.
When the bulb on its back grows large, it appears to lose the ability to stand on its hind legs.
“Yona’s Bulbasaur evolved? Awesome!” Yona said, hugging her Ivysaur.
Finally, Gallus and Smolder stepped forward.
“Let’s show them how it’s done,” Gallus said with a smirk.
Smolder grinned. “Ready when you are!”
Misty sent out Staryu once more, and the two released their Pokémon: Gallus’s Swiftwing the Spearow and Smolder’s Spikoran the Nidoran.
“Swiftwing, use Peck!” Gallus commanded.
“Spikoran, use Horn Attack!” Smolder shouted.
The two Pokémon attacked in unison, hitting Staryu and forcing it back.
“Not bad, but Staryu can take it. Use Water Gun!” Misty commanded.
Staryu sprayed a jet of water, striking both Swiftwing and Spikoran.
“Shake it off, Swiftwing! Use Tackle!”
Swiftwing swooped down, tackling Staryu repeatedly, weakening it further.
“Spikoran, Tackle as well!”
Nidoran charged forward, slamming into Staryu and knocking it out.
“Well done!” Misty said, recalling Staryu. “But now it’s time for Starmie!”
Starmie emerged once more, its gem core glowing.
“Bubble Beam!”
The attack hit both Swiftwing and Spikoran, knocking them out in one shot.
Gallus and Smolder groaned, returning their fainted Pokémon.
“Let’s finish this! Charmolder, let’s go!”
“You too, Growlithe!” Gallus added.
Charmander and Growlithe appeared, both ready for battle.
“Fire types, huh? This should be interesting. Starmie, Water Gun!”
Starmie’s water attack hit both Pokémon, but they quickly recovered.
“Charmolder, Scratch!”
“Growlithe, Bite!”
The two charged at Starmie, landing their attacks, but it wasn’t enough.
“Starmie, finish this with Bubble Beam!”
The powerful stream of bubbles hit both Pokémon, knocking them out.
Misty smiled as the two sighed in defeat. “You’ve got potential. Just keep training.”
After the battles, Misty gathered the group and handed out four Cascade Badges to the victorious trainers.
“Well done, everyone. You’ve all shown great skill and determination,” Misty said. “Here’s also a little something extra.”
She handed them ₽2,079 and a Technical Machine.
“This TM contains Bubble Beam. It’s a strong Water-type move that can also lower your opponent’s speed.”
Sandbar took the TM with a smile. “Thank you, Misty. Where should we head next?”
“The next gym is in Vermilion City,” Misty said. “You’ll need to board the S.S. Anne to get there. Check your map for more details.”
Ocellus looked over the map and nodded. “Got it.”
Smolder crossed her arms. “Gallus and I will stay here to train. We’ll catch up soon.”
“Alright. We’ll see you in Vermilion City!” Sandbar said.
As the group split up once again, with two badges under their belts, new Pokémon, and a newly evolved Ivysaur, they began to make their way to Vermillion City.
As the journey continues…
