Young Six’s Journey: Adventure in the Kanto Region
Journey to Vermillion City
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWith the four victorious, they began to take their way to Vermillion City, once they healed up their Pokémon first. Once they were all ready to go, they began to trek to route 24. However, they spotted a familiar figure— Ace.
“Oh look, it’s Ace!” Sandbar said to the others.
Ace turned around, greeting them with a smile. “Well, if it isn’t the young trainers! How’s the gym battles coming along?”
“Great, we managed to beat two gyms!”
“That’s awesome to hear! Say, where’s Gallus? I wanted to see if he’s gotten any stronger.”
Silverstream scratched her head sheepishly and giggled. “Well… let’s just say that his fiery spirit got… watered down.”
Ace chuckled. “Ah, I see. That’s a shame, I wanted to see if he gotten any stronger or not. Perhaps maybe I can challenge one of you, what do you say?”
The four looked at each other, Silverstream stepping forward. “I’ll challenge you!”
“Great!” Ace took out one of his Pokéballs. “Go, Eevee!”
“Wartortle, come on out!”
The two Pokémon emerged out of their Pokéballs, readying themselves for battle.
“A Wartortle huh? Looks like someone was busy training.” Ace said to Silverstream.
Silverstream chucked, her wings flapping excitedly. “Yeah, we all have, and I’ll show you how trained my Pokémon are!”
“I like your spirit, now let’s see if your all talk, Eevee, use Tackle!”
The Eevee charged at Wartortle, but the Wartortle dodged swiftly.
“Wartortle, use Water Gun!”
Wartortle shot water from its mouth, striking Ace’s Eevee. The Eevee tumbled, but got back up.
“Eevee, let’s use another Tackle!”
The Eevee charged at Wartortle once more, but dodged its attack. Wartortle retaliated with its own tackle, knocking Eevee to the ground.
“Now use Water Gun!” Silverstream followed up.
Wartortle shot a powerful stream of water, knocking Eevee out.
“Wow, your Wartortle has some speed, but let’s see it go against this, go Bulbasaur!”
Ace released his Bulbasaur to the battlefield.
“You have a Bulbasaur too? Me too! Wartortle, come back!”
Wartortle walked back to Silverstream as she threw out her Bulbasaur to the battlefield.
“Bulbasaur, use Vine Whip!” Ace commanded.
Bulbasaur unleashed two vines from its body, striking at Silverstream’s Bulbasaur, but it wasn’t effective.
“Lilyvine, let’s use Tackle!” Silverstream commanded. Bulbasaur charged at Ace’s Bulbasaur, knocking it to the ground. “One more Tackle!”
Silverstream’s Bulbasaur charged at Ace’s Pokémon, tackling it on more time, causing it to faint.
Ace returned his Bulbasaur, taking out one more Pokéball. “I will say, your pretty good at battling,”
Silverstream smiled at Ace. “Thank you, I’ve been training hard with my Pokémon!”
“Yeah, but can you handle this, Vulpix, let’s go!”
Ace released a fox like Pokémon with six tails. Silverstream scanned the Pokémon.
Vulpix, the fox Pokémon.
At the time of birth, it has just one tail. The tail splits from its tip as it grows older.
“Vulpix, Ember!” Ace commanded.
The Vulpix shot out a fireball from its mouth, striking Bulbasaur and immediately knocking it out.
“Woah, it’s strong!” Silverstream said, returning her Bulbasaur. “Wartortle, you’re up again!”
Wartortle jumped into the battle. The Vulpix shot another fireball, but it wasn’t effective.
“Wartortle, Water Gun!”
Wartortle shot a jet of water at Vulpix, knocking it out instantly.
Ace returned his Vulpix, smirking. “Wow, looks like I have myself a new rival! Keep up the good work. See you all soon!”
With that, Ace ran off into route 24, as Sandbar, Ocellus and Yona looked at Silverstream.
“EEEHHH!!!” My first rival battle!” Silverstream squealed happily.
After taking another stop at the Pokémon center, the four ventured into route 24. As they ventured, Sandbar gave Silverstream the TM.
“Here Silverstream, I don’t need it, plus you deserve it for beating Ace.”
Silverstream took the TM, smiling at Sandbar. “Thank you!”
Silverstream inserted the disk into her Pokédex.
“Available Pokémon to use this TM: Wartortle and Jigglypuff. Would you like to let Wartortle learn Bubble Beam?” The Pokédex said to Silverstream.
Silverstream looked at Ocellus, as she gave her the go ahead, pressed yes. Suddenly, the Pokédex flashed and after a few moments, it spoke. “Wartortle learned Bubble Beam!”
Silverstream smiled, excited to test Wartortle’s move.
The four continued to walk down the path, coming towards a bridge with lots of trainers.
Ocellus gulped. “T-that’s a lot of trainers…”
Yona stomped her hoof. “Yona not worried! Yona’s Pokémon are strong enough for trainers!”
“Yeah, I’m confident in my Pokémon!” Sandbar said, crossing the bridge first.
A bug catcher stopped Sandbar in his tracks, engaging in a Pokémon battle.
“Caterpie, let’s go!” The bug Catcher threw his Pokéballs.
A Caterpie appeared on the bridge, ready for battle.
“Gastbar, come on out!” Sandbar said, throwing out his Pokéball.
“Caterpie, use Tackle!” The bug Catcher commanded.
Caterpie charged at Gastly, but phased right through it.
“Ghastbar, use Night Shade!”
Purple smoke surrounded Caterpie, causing Caterpie to stumble.
“Caterpie, use String Shot!”
Caterpie shot out some sticky string at Gastly, but it only made Gastly slower.
“Ghastbar, use Night Shade again!”
Purple surrounded Caterpie once again, knocking it out.
The bug catcher returned his Pokémon, grabbing another Pokéball. “Weedle, let’s go!”
A Weedle appeared on the bridge, readying itself.
“Weedle, use Poison Sting!”
Weedle shot out a purple needle at Gastly, but it didn’t do much to Gastly.
“Ghastbar, use Lick!” Gastly got up close to Weedle, giving it a lick, causing it to be paralyzed. “Now use Night Shade!”
The Weedle, unable to move, was hit with a purple cloud, getting knocked out. The trainer returned his Pokémon, giving Sandbar ₽140.
After battling a few more trainers, they encountered and defeated a disguised Team Rocket grunt.
The grunt returned its fainted Zubat, rewarding the victor with a nugget.
The four were off the bridge, able to explore the area without any trainers. As they explored, they stumbled upon a trainer in a rocky area, looking upset. The four went over to the trainer, looking concerned.
“Are you okay there buddy?” Sandbar asked the trainer.
The trainer sighed, looking at Sandbar. “I can’t raise Pokémon well. I was just going to release it, but since you four are here, would any of you want to take care of it?”
The four looked at each other, discussing upon themselves. After reaching a verdict, Silverstream stepped forward.
“I’ll take care of your Charmander for you!” Silverstream said excitedly.
The trainer nodded, handing over his Charmander to Silverstream. “Take good care of it, okay?”
Silverstream nodded, seeing him walk away. “Wait, don’t you want to say goodbye to it?”
The trainer shook his head. “Nah, it’ll only break it’s and my heart if we do. Farewell everyone.”
The four saw the trainer walk away in the distance, disappearing from sight. Silverstream looked at the Pokéball, releasing Charmander from within. Charmander, looking puzzled by the four, looked around for its original trainer.
“Hey there little guy, don’t you worry, my friends and I were trusted to take good care of you.” Silverstream said with a warm smile.
The Charmander, not fully understanding what she meant, nodded to her, making a small ‘char’ sound.
Eventually, the four split up, searching for any Pokémon to catch. Yona walked around the area, stumbling upon a turnip - like Pokémon.
“What’s this Pokémon?” Yona scanned the Pokémon.
Oddish, the weed Pokémon.
During the day, it keeps its face buried in the ground. At night, it wanders around sowing its seeds.
“Yona find Oddish cute looking! Yona catch Oddish!” Yona brought out her Ivysaur, ready to battle. “Ivysaur, Tackle!”
Ivysaur charged at Oddish, knocking it down, but recovered. The Oddish retaliated with Absorb, draining Ivysaur’s energy.
“Ivysaur, one more Tackle!”
Ivysaur charged at the Oddish again, knocking it back. The Oddish looked dazed, giving Yona the opportunity to catch it.
“Pokéball go!” Yona threw her Pokéball towards the Oddish.
The Pokéball made contact to Oddish, getting sucked inside. 1 shake… 2 shakes… 3 shakes… click.
Yona stomped her hooves excitedly. “Yona caught Oddish! I shall name you… Sproutling!”
A few hours pass and the four reunited, some eager to show off some new Pokémon.
“So, did anyone catch any Pokémon?” Sandbar asked curiously.
“Sure did! Sproutling, come on out!” Yona threw out her Pokéball, showing off her Oddish.
“Hey, I have one too!” Sandbar exclaimed, showing off his Oddish. “What about you too?”
Silverstream shook her head. “I couldn’t find a Pokémon I wanted to catch.”
The three turned their attention onto Ocellus, who shyly held a Pokéball.
“I… found a Pokémon, it’s pretty fascinating.” Ocellus said, throwing her Pokéball.
She released her Pokémon, a bipedal mammal like Pokémon, however, it was floating off the ground.
Everyone looked in awe, pointing their Pokédex’s at the Pokémon.
Abra, the psi Pokémon.
Using its ability to read minds, it will identify impending danger and TELEPORT to safety.
“Wow! It can teleport to get away from danger!” Sandbar said to Ocellus.
“Yeah, it was difficult to catch, but thanks to Bubblechime’s singing, I’ve managed to put it to sleep and catch it.”
“That’s great Ocellus! Oh, I also found this,” Sandbar held up a TM. “This TM is called Thunder Wave.”
“Ohhh! What does it do?” Silverstream’s curiosity piqued.
Sandbar read the description on his Pokédex. “Says here that it can paralyze an opponent or wild Pokémon.”
“That could be useful for catching more Pokémon. Which Pokémon can learn the move?” Ocellus asked curiously.
Sandbar looked at the Pokémon that can learn the move. “The only one that can learn the move from our teams are only Jigglypuff,” Sandbar said, looking at Ocellus. “Would you like Bubblechime to learn the move Ocellus?”
“Well… okay, why not.”
Sandbar nodded, clicking the yes option. After a few moments, the Pokédex announced. “Bubblechime learned Thunder Wave!”
“Great, Bubblechime learned a new move! Now, let’s continue forward, shall we?”
The four started heading up to route 25, going into a maze in the forest. After going through a maze of trees and trainers, the four managed to get out, seeing a cottage by the sea shore.
“Huh, looks like this is a dead end. Guess we should go back.” Sandbar said to the others.
As they turned around, they suddenly heard noises coming from the cottage. The four looked at each other, going over to the cottage door. Sandbar knocked on the door, but no answer. They heard more sounds of objects falling on the floor. Yona, being the strongest one there, kicked the door open. The four went inside, seeing a bunch of papers on the floor and a Nidoran male sitting in the middle of the room.
Silverstream awe’d, leaning in close to the Nidoran. “Hey there little guy, where’s your trainer?”
The Pokémon, however, didn’t blurt out its own name, instead, talking full sentences. “Was kicking my door open really necessary? You’ve could’ve just came in.”
The four, looking shocked, jumped in surprise, taking a step back.
“You… you can talk?” Sandbar questioned the Nidoran.
“Of course I can talk. Names Bill, I accidentally fused myself with a Pokémon while doing some tests on that machine over there,” Bill said, pointing at the machine. “Could one of you help me change back? Just use that PC over there to revert me back.”
Sandbar, Ocellus and Yona looked at Silverstream, as she was the only one out of the four with fingers. Silverstream went over to the PC, clicking on some buttons, reverting Bill back to his normal self.
Bill felt his non rough skin, sighing in relief. “Thank you! I was too short to reach my PC, and my hoof hands wouldn’t be of help too. Here, take this ticket.”
Silverstream grabbed the ticket, looking at the name, ‘S.S Anne’.
“This ticket can be used at Vermillion City, where you can take a cruise and take a break if you want to.”
Silverstream smiled at Bill. “Thank you for the gift Bill!”
“No problem, it’s the least I could do for helping me out.” Bill returned a friendly smile.
“Speaking of Vermillion City,” Sandbar butted in. “Do you know where Vermillion City is by chance?”
“Of course, it’s back at Cerulean City and you take route 5.”
“Back at Cerulean City? But Misty told us to go over here, I wonder why?”
“Beats me, but I’m glad you did. Otherwise I would’ve been that Nidoran for a long time. There’s a path on the other side of my cottage to get back. It’s shorter and you don’t have to run through that maze of a forest.”
“Great! Thanks again!” Sandbar said, the four waving goodbye to Bill.
“Take care you four!” Bill waved goodbye to the four.
The four took the path that Bill mentioned, going back to Cerulean City, seeing if they can find more Pokémon along the way. The four finally got back to Cerulean City, going to the Pokémon center to heal up their Pokémon. As they waited, they heard some familiar voices.
“Did you guys get lost?” The voice came from behind the four.
The four turned around, seeing Gallus and Smolder behind them, smirking.
“Gallus! Smolder! How are things going with Misty’s training?” Sandbar asked the two.
“Actually,” Smolder smirked, showing off the cascade badge. “We beaten it!”
“That’s great you two!”
“Yeah, it was tough, but with some help from Ash, we were able to beat her!”
“That’s great to hear, now we can travel together.”
“Yeah,” Smolder yawned tiredly. “But I’m tired from all the training.”
Sandbar also yawned tiredly. “Yeah, we’ve been fighting trainers all day, maybe we should stay here for the night and go to Vermillion City tomorrow.”
“Sounds like a plan to me.” Gallus added.
With everyone in agreement, the Young Six stayed at the Pokémon center to rest, waiting for a new day of adventure waiting for them.
As the journey continues…
