We need you, Ponies. (While we stay hidden, out of sight and out of mind,) but we still need you to survive.

Technically speaking; we are still Equines, just like you. (Just like a Pegasus, we are Avians)

Just like Ants and Bees, we are counted among the Social Insects. (Even when we are still Equines.) Thus we have a Queen; directing our movements and laying the eggs, from which we are hatched. (I sincerely hope: that this is not bothering you.)

Just like the Ants and Bees, we are separated into Classes; defining who we are, and what work we are intended to perform.

The Queen is at the top of the hierarchy, and we only have one mature Queen in the Hive. (Even if we could have a few Princesses and Proto-Queens in the hive at any given time!)

Proto Queen: see Queen. (Unmated Queen, before she has been designated a leadership role.)

Princess: young Queen, not yet mature enough to lead. Leadership role, subordinate to the Queen.

Drone; male Changeling. (Exceptionally rare Changeling) Primary purpose is the court the Queen for reproductive purposes. Can also serve military service, in case of the Hive being attacked. (May serve in more administrative functions.)

Nurse: cares for the eggs, grubs and larvae until they are mature enough to be integrated into the work-force.

Love Harvester: integrates into the (Pony) society, in order to harvest Love for the Hive.

Infiltrator: Infiltrates the (Pony) society, in order to gather information and provide an extra layer of security.

Diplomat: A mediator, purposed to solve disputes and mediate. (Exceedingly rare.) As opposed to the Infiltrator; the Diplomat is intended to move openly, undisguised if possible. As opposed to the Palace guard, she does hold no Guard duty or any other Military capability.

Palace Guard: Guards Royalties. (Including Ponies {Permissible intervention}) Rarely seen in opposing hives. Exulted position, within the hive. (What better way to secure the hive, than to ensure the friendly relations?)

Tunneler: Digs tunnels and in general builds and maintains the hive.

(Regular) Guard: Guards the hive and the tunnels of the hive in general. (Currently a popular position.)

Egg: Unhatched Larvae.

Grub: Immature Changeling, not yet ready to be integrated into the work-force.

Larvae: See Grub.

Pupa: (See Cocoon) A daughter of Queen Chrysalis.

Chrysalis: (See Cocoon) The name of the currently reining Queen of the hive.

Cocoon: The stage between Larvae and Adult Changeling.

Changelings are natural Emote-vores and Shape shifters. (Reliant on emotional Energy, for most all bodily processes to function; the magic and mana conversion more so than anything else, as the changeling can not perform magic or convert mana into actual magic without the steady supply of this emotional Energy.)

As Shape shifters, Changelings are adapt in subterfuge and covert operations. Secretive in nature, the Changeling Hive is commonly in a desolate and hard to reach location.

Unfortunately; Changelings partake in some pointless, clandestine activities along the way.

All Changelings are naturally loyal to their Queen; as she is the Elevated and exalted leader of the hive, responsible to lay all the eggs from which the changelings hatches out of. (Even if some has been given the position, even before the egg has been laid; the Drones are counted in this category, partially in being male and the capabilities strictly limited to them.)

A Changeling has her position given to her in the chrysalis stage, all depending on what roles are needed most at the time. (Even if some has been given the position, even before the egg has been laid; the Drones are counted in this category, partially in being male and the capabilities strictly limited to them.)

Just like most, if not all Insects; the Changeling has a hard and adamant carapace containing the body and its content. Likewise, she also have wings, with which she can fly. (Even if not quite as fast or agile as the Pegasus and other Avian Ponies.)

A Changeling has both Avian and Arcane magic, but little to no Earth magic. (The exact proportion of magic of an individual Changeling varies between the various Types as well as between Individuals.)

The Changeling Hive does not control the weather, but is solely reliant on natural control. (No changeling can possess the ability to control the weather, even on a localized scale.) This is considered to be a talent exclusive to the Ponies. (Pegasus or possibly also the Thestral Batpony tribes.)

All hives are part of a larger Federation. (Unless the hive had been banned and excommunicated!)

Within the federation; there is a set of rules or laws, governing how a hive can be governed and what actions can be sanctioned. (Breaking these laws may constitute going rogue, which is leading to the hive being excommunicated, banned or even declared war against; all depending on the severity of the infractions.)

Interfering with the operations of another hive is considered illegal. (No matter how small the infraction, only the severity of the reaction determines the punishment!)

No hive or party there-off may interfere with the Ponies or their societies by any means.

No one Changeling may reveal the location or indeed the very existence of Changeling by any means for any reason. (Not even a “Competing” Hive!) Only the classes predefined may interact with Ponies or any None-Changeling in general!

These ancient laws has been in place, for the most obvious reasons; harming the Ponies and their Society will bring down the food production, on the account of the hostile state these attacks and interference will cause and foster on both the short and the long term. (We simply can not sustain ourselves and our numbers, with any less than what the Ponies will produce at peak performance!)
