Luigi...and Twilight's Mansion
Chapter 11: Recovering and Suffering
Previous ChapterNext ChapterI don’t remember much about what happened when my horn was attached to the Super Suction, all that I remember was seeing Luigi destroy the ticket booth and the statue, what I do remember was waking up back in Egad’s lab…and seeing this ghost dog licking me. “AHH, what…what is that?” I jumped into the air as I tried to move away from the ghost dog, only for my legs to stand like spaghetti straps as I fell back to the ground.
“I wouldn’t try to stand Twilight, your legs need to heal first,” I heard Egad’s voice as I looked up and saw the professor.
“E…Egad? What’s going on? Where am I, where’s Luigi and what is that ghost?” I asked nervously.
“Relax Twilight, you’re back in the secret lab, you took quite a beating to the Super Suction,” Egad explained.
“Now I remember, that…wasn’t pleasant at all,” I said as I held my head.
“I apologize for that one, I should have known that not even a creature such as yourself could take on that much power all at once,” Egad said.
“It’s…it’s fine, I’ve handled worse before,” I said as I noticed the ghost dog from before entered the room. “Ahh, the ghost dog!” I exclaimed in fear as I held my horn at the ready.
“Don't worry Twilight, he won’t hurt you,” Egad said as he picked up the ghost dog as the dog started to lick his face.
“W..W…W..What is that?” I asked nervously.
“His name is Poulterpup, Luigi adopted him after his first encounter with ghosts,” Egad explained as Poulterpup then jumped down from Egad’s arms and went closer to me as he looked at me excitedly. “Go on, give him some pats,” Egad said while I gave him a few pats before he started to lick my face.
“S, Stop it!” I said as I gave a smile.
“Alright Egad, I’ve emptied the poultergust, and I’m all set to go, I see you met Poulterpup,” Luigi said as Poulterpup then rushed back to Luigi as he jumped into his arms. “I see you met a new friend,” Luigi said as Poulterpup proceeded to lick Luigi’s face.
“He’s quite an adorable dog,” I said as my legs started to feel rested, and I could stand much easier now.
"The numbing should be over now, I see you’re already on your legs Twilight,” Egad said with a little bit of surprise in his voice.
“I suppose I heal quickly, this isn’t my first time dealing with physical pain before,” I said.
“Very well, I suppose it’s safe to let you and Luigi continue your adventure, just try not to faint again,” Egad said with a chuckle. After I gave Poulterpup a few more pats, we repeated our goodbyes as we headed back through the TV and entered the destroyed ticket booth.
“Ready to enter the door?” Luigi asked as we opened the door, and our jaws crashed.
“Welcome to Boo’s Boardwalk, the funniest place in the world!” An intercom said as we looked around the park.
There was yet another statue of King Boo along with statues of boos all over this park, every single ride, there was King Boo’s face on it, and even the food had his icon on them such as the clever names of the Haunted House Hamburger or the Freighting Frys.
“I…I…I…I…I…I…I don’t like this one bit,” Luigi nervously stuttered while he was shaking with fear filling his entire body.
“I didn’t know this King Boo was so obsessed with himself,” I said as we slowly entered the park. Just like at the entrance to this park, everywhere you looked, there was King Boo’s face, everything from the dangerously looking rides to the simple benches and trash cans had his face on them.
“I’ve seen dangerous-looking rides back in my world before…but I’ve never seen rides such as this,” I said as I started to feel nervous just by looking at these rides.
“I’m too much of a chicken to go on rides like this but I know they're scary as well,” Luigi said.
“I’m guessing you're not much of a Rollercoaster fan?” I asked.
“Unless it’s a merry-go-round, not at all,” Luigi said. “My brother’s always been the one who could ride a hundred of those rides and come out on top, for me, well, I’m sure you can figure out that part,” Luigi said as I saw his cheeks turning a little pink.
“The same applies to me and my brother, he could ride those all day if he could,” I said.
“Seems we both know what it’s like to have confident brothers,” Luigi said.
“Despite that, I’m not sure there is anything I wouldn’t do for him,” I said.
“I couldn’t say it better myself when it comes to my brother,” Luigi said as we continued to explore this creepy park until we came across something…odd. As we trotted further into this park, so far into the park that it was nearly impossible to tell where we’d been, we came across what seemed to be a regular carnival game. We’d seen several of these in the park so it didn’t draw much attention to us until Luigi noticed something that interested him.
“Wait a second, Mario!” Luigi exclaimed as he sprinted over the game where there seemed to be a painting of this other human who looked related to Luigi. “Don’t worry Mario! I’ll get you out of there!” Luigi exclaimed as he switched his Poultergust to the dark light setting and pointed it at the painting. Soon the painting turned into a rainbow of colors.
“What’s happening?” I asked. “I’m getting my brother out of that painting!” Luigi exclaimed as the painting turned white, almost as if Luigi was going to do it…until something happened, the painting turned into a puff of smoke, and then it was gone. “NO, MARIO!” Luigi exclaimed with anger and a little bit of sadness as he slammed his hand on the stand. “I was this close!” Luigi then changed the setting back on his Poultergust.
“Don’t worry, we’ll get him back!” I said as I tried to comfort Luigi when something else happened. I felt a disturbance around us as if someone was watching us closely…until I felt something creep onto my back…and it wasn’t Luigi’s hand this time.
“YES! I finally found Luigi!” This new ghost exclaimed as he came out of the ground, cheering. This ghost was yellow as he wore a dusty suit with a bow tie, a black top hat, and what looked like some sort of cane. “The boss will be most pleased to hear about this!” This ghost exclaimed.
“Who…who are you?” I asked angrily.
“Why, I’m the groundskeeper to this park, Banshee Boosmith, and I’m about to capture you!” Banshee exclaimed with joy in her voice.
“Uh…can’t we just be good customers?” I asked nervously.
“Didn’t you read the park rules? No humans or animals allowed!” Banshee exclaimed with anger in his voice.
“Can’t you make an exception for talking…animals?” Luigi asked, knowing the answer already.
“NOT. AT. ALL!” Banshee exclaimed when all of a sudden, he fled.
“Where is he going to?” I asked nervously.
“Twilight, we need to run,” Luigi said so stirn and quietly.
“What, why?” I asked nervously. I’ll never forget how Luigi only responded by pointing his finger towards the other attractions. I turned around and saw that the Ferris wheel stopped moving as it began to shake. It was hard to see it all happen from the ground but the wheel broke off of the beams holding it up as it began to roll towards us, destroying anything in its path.
“RUN,” Luigi exclaimed as we began to sprint away from the wheel while it began to chase after us, only it was far faster than our feet. Right when we saw what looked like a door, possibly leading to another staircase. Right when it seemed like we were about to escape, I saw that Luigi had tripped and fallen to the ground just as the wheel was about to crush him, and it looked like the end for Luigi…
