Chapters Spiderman Equestria's Hero: Back In Action
3 weeks before Adam came to Earth 16
Creaking down an old shaft was a rusty elevator, carrying someone down to his underground lab; the scientist saw his lab assistant working with the vials of DNA and chemicals they had been developing.
“Are we ready to begin the test trial?” the scientist asked.
The assistant turned to her brother and explained, “Yep, we’re all ready Mickey.” she picked up a vile of yellow liquid and loaded it into a syringe.
This was the lab of Dr Michael Morbius, just minutes before he did what he did to become what he is today. Dr Morbius picked up the audio recorder, but he then put it down again; Morbius turned to his sister and wanted to say something.
Michael got her attention and explained, “I’m not sure about this, Felicia; there’s still so much we don’t know about this, the side effects it may create. I just think we need to do some more testing...”
Felicia then cut him off, “We’ve done enough testing, Michael; we are about to do something that will make us go down in history, and you want to stop now?”
His sister was right, this was his greatest achievement, he was not going to throw his life’s work away now. So Dr Morbius picked up the audio recorder; before pressing play, he turned to Felicia.
“Are you ready, Felicia?” he asked.
She replied, “Go for it, big bro.”
Present Day
A clock hanging on the wall was ticking to the appointed time; coming up to eight-thirty in the morning, the school bell rang, alerting the students of Canterlot High School to get to class.
In one of the classrooms, a certain person was setting up the desks so the days lesson could begin; Twilight Sparkle, a former student here, and now it’s newest Physics teacher. Well, co-teacher; her partner in the class was running late, again.
As the school bell chimed, the students began entering the class; taking their seats and greeting their friends. Whilst the students were sitting down, Twilight took her position at the back of the class room.
The newest school principle was following the students in and explained, “We have a bell for a reason, students. Please take your seats.” Cranky Doodle looked at Twilight at the back of the room, he noticed that someone was missing.
Suddenly, the classroom door swung open, and the second teacher came into the room. “I’m here!” He shouted. “I’m here.”
Adam Shy, took his wife’s last name; he’s been married to one of Twilight Sparkle’s best-friends, Fluttershy, for almost two years now. He and Twilight thought it would be a good idea for them to apply for teaching jobs here at the school they both used to attend; Twilight’s girlfriend, Sunset Shimmer, always said they were the smart ones in the group.
When Principle Doodle saw the new teacher walk, or storm in, he addressed the class; the head-teacher explained, “Good morning class. Today, we have two new teachers joining us; Mr Shy.” He gestured to Adam. “And Miss Sparkle.” He then gestured to Twilight.
With the introductions out of the way, Cranky Doodle left the room; now it was Adam’s turn to address his students. “Hello.” He started with. “My name is Ad... Mr.... Mr Shy. And we’re all very lucky; because this is Physics class, and Physics is awesome.”
Twilight noticed something from where she was stood, the red fabric that could be seen poking out of the top of Adam’s shirt; she coughed and poked at that spot on her own person. This caught Adam’s attention and he turned around to quickly adjust his shirt.
Once all was okay again, Adam continued with the lesson; while he spoke, Twilight looked outside and could see what looked like a cloud of black smoke fogging up the air outside. She suddenly got a familiar feeling in her brain, telling her this was something wrong. Twilight Sparkle then walked down the isles of the desks and past Adam, she excused herself for the moment.
“I’ll be right back.” Twilight explained.
“Okay.” Adam replied.
Once Twilight was gone, Adam once again continued; he began writing on the whiteboard, explaining the theory of surface tension. One of the students looked over at the open window and ash particles seeping into the room. Without saying a word, this student just got up and closed the window.
Suddenly, Twilight came back into the room, “Uh, Mr Shy. Can I please talk with you out in the hallway; I need your help with something.” This suddenly got the students snickering and talking amongst themselves, like their was something going on between their two teachers.
Adam replied, “Uh Miss Sparkle. Are you sure this isn’t something you can handle yourself?”
“I’m sure.” She replied.
Twilight walked out the door again, Adam had no choice but to follow; but before he left, he explained to the class, "Okay class, read chapters four...or five... or do what you like.” Adam then sprinted down the hallway after Twilight.
She stopped at the staircase that led to the roof; once they were both on the stairs, Adam said, “Twilight, we need these jobs. If Cranky Doodle comes back and sees we’re gone, we’re gonna get fired.”
“I know, but you have to see this.” Twilight explained.
Once she was sure no one was around to see them, Twilight began using her web-shooters to swing herself up to the top of the staircase; Adam followed her and did the same.
Once the two of them were on the roof, Twilight pointed to the large cloud of smoke half way across the city; that was shooting out lava balls and causing fires all over the city. Twilight didn’t have to say anything, Adam already knew what this meant.
“Raggamuffin, why today?” Adam moaned. He began taking off his new blazer and said, “We are so getting fired.”
The two of them ran across the roof, throwing bits of their clothes away, revealing the super-suits they were wearing; once the masks were on, Spiderman and Spider-Girl jumped off the roof and began swinging across the city towards the smoke. The heroes began doing stunts in the air as they swung towards the crisis; they also spoke whilst they did so.
Spiderman stated, “Principle Doodle already hates me for being late.”
“I told you to be on time, Adam.” Spider-Girl replied.
“Let’s just get to the city and deal with Raggamuffin before we have to go looking for new jobs.”
Whilst they were swinging, the spider-heroes got a call from Sunset Shimmer; she was already in the Mobile HQ, and was assessing the situation. She greeted them with, “Hey babe, how was school.”
Before Twilight could answer her girlfriend, Adam butted in and said, “Focus Sunset, what’s going on with Raggamuffin? It’s been a couple of years since our last showdown.”
The heroes couldn’t see it, but Sunset rolled her eyes at Adam’s comment; she then replied, “Well, according to witnesses, Raggamuffin was seen running down the street mumbling nonsense. When a cop tried to bring him in, he just exploded, literally.”
Spider-Girl then explained, “He is one of the missing prisoners from that break-out a few weeks ago; a few supervillains managed to escape, Molten Man being one of them.”
“I really wish supervillains would just stay caught sometimes.” Spiderman stated.
The two heroes made it into the main city, and they could already see the trail of destruction Raggamuffin left in his wake. Twilight then thought of something that she thought could be of some help; she got Sunset back on the comm to ask her.
“Hey Sunset, any chance the rest of the team wants to get in on this action?”
All Sunset could reply with was, “Sorry Twilight, but the girls already called in a ‘no-go’ for this one. Applejack is busy on the farm with her family, Rarity’s new fashion business is keeping her occupied, Pinkie Pie’s entertaining a little kid’s birthday party and Rainbow Dash and Soarin are out of town.”
Spiderman, who was also listening to this call, replied, “Again? Those two think that because of their speed and flight powers, they can go wherever they want, whenever they want.”
“Be fair, Adam; they can.” Sunset replied. “Oh and Fluttershy called, told me to tell you to be careful and she loves you.”
Adam chuckled before replying, “That’s my wife, always worrying.”
“But surely if there's an emergency, the girls should come and help us. Great responsibility and all that.” Twilight stated.
But Adam replied, “No way, you need to find the balance between hero-work and social life; if they say they can't help, we respect their wishes.”
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a truck came flying through the air and almost his Adam; Twilight shouted, “Look out!” Allowing Spiderman to dodge the projectile and continue swinging towards the chaos.
“Thanks, but I think we found him.” As the giant cloud of smoke began to clear, the heroes could see right in front of them, the causer of the destruction. “Raggamuffin!”
Stood in the middle of the city was a giant goliath lava monster, he was as tall as the towers surrounding him; buildings were being melted away, the police and rescue service were trying to get the people evacuated. The city has never been in this much disarray since the Symbiote attack three years ago.
“SPIDERMAN.” The lava monster said as his giant voice echoed through the city streets.
Raggamuffin began swinging his arms in the air, throwing lava balls at the Spiders. The heroes dodged the attacks and kept swinging around the giant, trying to think of a way to stop him.
Twilight commented, “Whoa, that’s Molten Man?” there was so much going on, the heroes had to talk over the comms.
Without warning, the lava giant hurled a piece of debris at Spiderman; he was too slow to dodge it and the impact sent him flying into a building, he latched onto the wall before he could get hurt. “This is bad, he’s never gotten that big before; we need to stop him before he hurts someone, or himself.” Spidey jumped off the wall and started swinging towards him again.
Spiderman dodged the flying debris and Molten Man swung his arms around again; after each dodge, pieces of rubble would break free from the giant’s body. Spiderman grabbed these small pieces and began throwing them back at his face.
“So, the plan?” Spider-Girl asked
“Maybe he’s hungry; I should toss the big guy a snack.” Adam joked as he continued to hurl rock at Raggamuffin. “Hang on, I’ve got an idea.” Seeing a chunk of rock that he could latch onto without burning himself, Adam web-zipped towards Molten Man’s face and stuck onto where his nose should be.
Molten Man noticed this, and grabbed him; the giant’s hand was hot, Adam could feel the heat through his suit, it was protecting him the best it could. Raggamuffin held Spiderman in his hand, and looked down at the tiny hero.
“Still angry after all these years, Raggamuffin?” Spidey asked. “You should try yoga.”
But that comment just made the lava villain mad, he threw Adam at a nearby building, sending him crashing through the window. When Spiderman got up, Molten Man stuck his hand into the opening and released a flood of lava; the people inside began running for their lives, and Spidey decided to do the same.
“That was your idea?” Twilight commented.
“Never said it was a good one.” Adam replied as he ran from the lava. Spiderman had to parkour over furniture and use his webs to jump over or swing around molten hot hands that would sprout up out of the lava. “It was supposed to be a normal day; teach some physics, have awkward conversations in the teacher’s lounge, finally find out what’s in the teacher’s lounge.”
Adam caught up with the people running, they had made it into a large open room that led to the stairwells; however, one person was falling through the floor, it was giving out and he was falling through it. Spiderman shot him with a web-line and pulled him into his arms; Adam started carrying this man as he swung across the large room.
“Spider-Girl, you think you can sign for this delivery?” Adam stated. “It’s coming in hot...”
“I’m there!” Twilight Sparkle replied, she could be seen running across the window outside; Spiderman threw the civilian out the window and into Twilight’s hands.
Before the webbed-hero could take a breath, Molten Man punched the building; his giant lava fist went right through the structure and painfully pushed Adam through the wall and into the next room. When Adam got up this time, he saw pools of lava that had leaked into the room; but these were different, they started to mould and shape themselves into humanoid forms, lava-men.
“Mini-Minions. I wish I could do that.” Adam joked.
Spiderman raised his fists and began fighting with the lava-men; it hurt his hands punching guys made of liquid fire, but he had to keep it up. He punched and kicked them all down, up until they would shatter into drops of lava. One of them tried to run up behind the hero, but his Spider-Sense warned him; so he swung his leg around and kicked him away.
Suddenly, during the fight, Adam got a call on the phone system in his mask.
“Mr Shy.”
“I’m sorry, who is this?” Adam replied, still struggling to fend of the minions.
The caller replied, “Principle Doodle. All students have evacuated their classrooms. Where are you?”
Adam didn’t have an answer at the moment; without warning, a dozen lava-men sprouted out of the ground, swarming the hero and disorientating him. The amount of heat that these minis were generating, the floor suddenly gave out, causing all of them to fall to the floor below them.
“Mr Shy?!” Cranky Doodle said, starting to get angry.
Spiderman tried to push away the lava-men, he replied, “I just forgot something... at my... car.” The hero jumped up into the air and swing-kicked the minis away. As he continued to fight the more that were being created, Adam was able to reply, “I’m just running back now.”
“Get back here and supervise your students...or else.”
The call then ended, leaving Adam to do his fighting. One lava-man went to punch the hero, but he dodged the attack and punched him back; Adam then leaped up into the air and pulled him up with webs, before slamming him into the ground.
Whilst the brawl continued, Twilight called her partner, “Spiderman, how are we looking?”
“Uh Twilight, Principle Doodle called.” Spidey replied.
Spider-Girl was hesitant to ask, “Oh boy, are we getting fired?”
Adam replied, with attitude, “Well, we abandoned students we were meant to supervise during a city wide emergency. So I’d say its pretty likely.”
Suddenly, Molten Man punched his fist into the building Spiderman was in and grabbed the hero in his giant grip. Adam once again felt like he was being cooked alive in the grip of a monster made of lava and liquid metal. What happened next was unexpected, from the monster’s arm, regular sized Molten Man emerged; he walked along the arm, towards the hero.
Spidey struggled to say, “Molten Man....”
Because he was regular sized, Raggamuffin sounded normal, with his Irish accent, “You know, I’m starten’ to hate that name.”
“I know you’re angry with me, but...”
Before Adam could finish, Raggamuffin shouted, “This has nothing to do with you, just leave me alone!” A splash of water suddenly fell on Raggamuffin’s shoulder, they both noticed a water pipe fitted into the ceiling.
Spiderman stated, “I want to help you. But I’m gonna have to hurt you first.” Adam broke his arms free and shot two web-lines at the water pipe; with a powerful pull, Spidey snapped the pipe, dropping water onto Molten Man. The water extinguished the heat on his body so the regular sized Raggamuffin froze into rock, the statue then shattered into pieces before the goliath Molten Man released his grip of Spiderman.
The webbed-hero then jumped out of the building and started swinging towards the giant; however, Molten Man regained his senses and swatted Spidey to the ground. Adam was seconds from landing in a small pool of boiling lava, until someone swung in and grabbed his hand.
Adam looked up to see Spider-Girl had just caught him; when he was able to, she threw him into the air and he started swinging for himself.
“I guess he wasn’t in a reconnecting mood.” Twilight Sparkle joked.
A small chuckle could be heard from Adam as she made that joke; the two heroes swung towards where the Molten Man giant was now. In his loud echoing voice, Raggamuffin demanded, “LET ME GO... OR I’LL KILL YOU!”
Spider-Girl had read all the files on this guy, she has also seen Spiderman take this guy down twice, she now knew a thing or two. Using two web-lines, she grabbed a large piece of rock debris and threw it at the giant’s shoulder, causing a chunk of his torso to shatter.
“Whoa, that got him.” Twilight stated.
She could hear Adam on the comm system, “He hates water. His shoulder must've gotten wet from the water pipe. But we need more though.”
Twilight replied, “I’ll hit him with webs while you bring the rain.”
As Spider-Girl swung closer to Raggamuffin, he picked up an empty fire truck and threw it at her; she dodged the incoming threat and then started pelleting his face with webs. Once his face was covered, Spider-Girl used web-lines to pull pieces of his face off and whack the giant continuously in the face with them. She finished the attack by swinging the chunks around like a wrecking ball and shattering them on the side of his head, causing Raggamuffin to become disoriented.
“Somebody order some water?” Spiderman was swinging into the fight, using a web to drag along a water-tower he pride from a rooftop. He threw the water-source at Molten Man’s other arm, the cold liquid was causing his arm to freeze into rock.
Spider-Girl used more webs to grab another debris piece and throw it at the giant’s frozen arm, causing the whole limb to shatter; but before she could swing away, Molten Man grabbed her in his other hand and threw her away. Twilight was flung across the city, but she luckily thought fast and used web-lines to catch herself with; and using those same webs, she sling-shot’ed herself back to the fight.
For that act of impoliteness, Twilight pelleted Raggamuffin’s face with webs again, before prying chunks of his head off again and rapidly striking him with them.
“I thought I lost you for a sec there.” Adam said over the comm.
Spider-Girl replied, “You can’t get rid of me that easily.” The two heroes started swinging around the goliath once again, Twilight stated, “Time for Sunset to work her magic.” She contacted Sunset Shimmer on the comm system, “Sunset, we need a big water source.”
“I’ve been checking the water network, you need the tower on top of the Royalty Building, we’re talking ten thousand gallons here.” Sunset replied.
The two Spiders started swinging for the Royalty Building, but Raggamuffin was following them; he wasn’t after freedom anymore, he was after them. The heroes latched onto the side of the building and ran up to the roof, and the lava giant was climbing up after them.
“Wow, Raggamuffin’s going full Stay Puft.” Spiderman joked.
Twilight replied, “What?”
“Remind me to show you that movie when this is over.”
When the Spiders reached the roof, they found the water tower; but Molten Man rose up and raised his fist, with one powerful slam, he bashed Spider-Girl through the roof and deep into the building. Lava was seeping into the building, Raggamuffin’s mini-minions were spawning from them, they completely surrounded Spider-Girl.
But before they could attack, regular sized Molten Man rose out of the lava and appeared in front of her.
“After I was set free, I wasn’t even going to go back to robbing. I just wanted to live normal.” Raggamuffin explained.
Twilight replied, “This isn’t the way to do it.”
“For a lad like me, there is no other way.” Molten Man then melted back into the lava, leaving Spider-Girl with his minis.
But she wanted to get some answers out of him, “Wait, who released you..?” before she could finish, he was gone; Twilight had no choice, she had to fight her way out of this. Spider-Girl front flipped and kicked the first one down, she then web-zipped under the next and kicked him in the back, sending him flying into the wall.
Just then, the wall shattered and more minis came charging through; Twilight jumped over them and ran past them, there wasn’t enough time to deal with them. But before she could continue onwards, Molten Man’s fist came crashing through the wall; Twilight saw Adam latched onto the thumb.
“Stay inside, Spider-Girl.” Adam ordered.
When the giant moved his hand out of the way, Spider-Girl kept moving up to the upper floors; however, more and more minis were blocking her path. She had no choice but to fight this time, the hero couldn’t let these things run rampant.
The first mini charged at Twilight, but she pulled it forward with a web-line to kick it in the side of the head, before upper-cutting it in the chin. While she kept fighting, she got a call on her mask-phone; it was her Mom calling.
Twilight answered, “Hey Mom, what’s up?”
“What is all that noise?” Twilight Velvet asked.
“Uh, I’m helping the students evacuate the school; the cities in chaos right now, Mom.” Spider-Girl replied as an explosion went off in the background; she spun around and kicked away one of the mini-minions.
‘Velvet explained, “I know, the Spider-Heroes are fighting that giant lava monster, I just can’t figure out why it’s so crazy.’
A mini grabbed Twilight from behind and held her in place, the hero struggled to get free, “Mom, can I call you back; the principle needs all the teachers to help with this.” Twilight then ended the call with her mother and broke free from the grip; she then stomped on the minion’s knee, forcing him to the ground, and then punching it right in the nose.
Spider-Girl kept climbing through the building, right up until she reached the top floor; when she was about to head for a window to get up onto the roof, Molten Man pride the roof away.
“Okay, we got the water tank.” Spiderman could be heard saying over the comm.
But Twilight replied, “Actually, he does.”
Spider-Girl web-zipped to the roof the giant was holding, but the villain was tilting it towards his face; and his enormous mouth was wide open.
Spiderman swung onto the scene and said, “Sorry I’m late, what did I miss?”
Twilight was tumbling across the slanted roof, about to fall into Molten Man’s mouth; she cried, “He’s trying to eat me!” Luckily, Spiderman shot a web-line and caught Twilight before it was too late.
“Let’s give him a drink instead.” Adam stated, before swinging Twilight around, allowing her to kick the water tank; she pushed it over and it dropped gallons of water onto the lava giant.
The water was doing the trick; Molten Man shrunk down to half the size he was and froze into hot stone. The two heroes let out a relaxing sigh, it was over; no more lava monster.
If only they knew; Molten Man’s arm snapped off, allowing lava to flow from the statue and down the street. It was like a burning hot tidal wave, melting everything in it’s path and absorbing all the metal it came into contact with.
“Did we get him?” Twilight was hesitant to ask.
Adam replied, also worried, “No, we just made him angry.”
The two Spiders started swinging after the lava wave, it was heading for the edge of the city, towards the river. The lava flowed all the way up to the bridge that connected Canterlot City with its neighbouring island.
“He’s heading for Stallion Bridge.” Spiderman explained. “Its covered in cars and vehicles.”
Spider-Girl replied, “What happens if he gets all that metal?”
“I think he just did.”
After absorbing as much metal as he could, Molten Man grew back into his giant form; but what he didn’t realise was that the bridge was not built to hold someone of his weight.
Twilight shouted, trying to reason with the lava giant, “You have to calm down, Raggamuffin; innocent people are going to get hurt.”
“YOU CARE ABOUT THEM, BUT NOT ME!” Molten Man began pulling pieces off of himself and throwing them like giant lava balls. “THEY WOULDN’T LISTEN TO RAGGAMUFFIN! BUT THEY CAN’T INGORE MOLTEN MAN!”
The heroes landed on the bridge, at the feet of the giant; and from the pools of lava, more minis were spawning. Raggamuffin noticed them below him, he kept moving his giant feet, trying to stomp on the heroes. But all they could do right now was take out the minions.
Spiderman kicked a mini away, before grabbing his face with a web-line; Spider-Girl then grabbed its leg with her own web and they both slammed him on the ground. Adam then grabbed a piece of debris with his webs and swung it around; this knocked some of the minis away, knocking some of them into the river. Twilight back-flipped kicked the last one into the air and kicked in the side on its way down.
There was only one way to end this, and Raggamuffin’s anger was going to be his undoing. Spiderman started provoking him; the hero needed him to hit the bridge.
“Hey, hot head; you call yourself a giant? You couldn’t hit the broadside of a battleship!”
Now that made Molten Man mad; the lava-giant raised his fists in the air, the Spiders had to time this just right. Raggamuffin slammed his fists onto the bridge, Adam and Twilight jumped off at the last minute; the bridge shattered from that last blow, sending all three of them tumbling into the river.
A huge wave was made as the giant splashed down into the water, no way was he coming back from that; the heroes emerged from the water, keeping themselves afloat. They both looked at the bridge they kind of just helped destroy.
Adam said, “This city’s architects are going to hate us.”
But Twilight said, “Please tell me it was Raggamuffin that made this water warm.”
Spiderman just shook his head; with all that said and their job done, the Spiders began swimming back to the shore.
One hour later, the police had arrived on the scene; things were somewhat under control now. They’d fished Raggamuffin out of the river and got him into a secure containment cell; they were just waiting for the helicopter to carry him back to Rykers Prison.
Raggamuffin had reverted back to his human form, but that didn’t stop him from banging his hands on the glass wall of his cage; he was yelling repeatedly, clearly not happy about being recaptured.
The two Spiders approached the cage, wanting to talk with the inmate; Twilight was the first to speak, “Raggamuffin, its going to be okay.”
But the villain just turned away from them, “I have not been ‘okay’, for so long.”
“If you need help, all you have to do is ask.” Adam explained.
They both then heard a chuckle come from Raggamuffin, he turned back to them and said, “You two are the ones that are gonna need help.” The cage was starting to be hoisted into the air. “When they come for you.” He finished.
“Come for us.” Spiderman repeated.
They watched as Raggamuffin’s cage was lifted above them and carried across the river, back to the prison; leaving the two of them puzzled by his words.
2 Months Earlier
It was late at night, the streets of Canterlot city were barely lit up by the street lamps; a man was walking home from work, a very hairy man.
You see, when Doc Ock’s machine exploded all those years ago, spreading Energon across the city, a lot of people were affected by it. However, not all of them became evil supervillains; some wanted to keep their powers a secret, as to not be judged for being different.
Unfortunately, not everyone could hide what they were now. What this man didn’t know, was that he was being followed.
He kept himself to himself, but he could tell something was not right, so he began running a little faster; right up until he was forced to head down an alleyway. But it was a bad move, because the alley dead ended; he turned around to see the now multiple people who had been on his tail.
These people looked truly menacing, all dawning the same attire; a black hoodie to hide themselves, that paired with a purple hockey mask to hide their faces. On the temple of the mask, something was painted on, a picture of the planet Earth with the letter ‘T’ & ‘H’ written over it.
And emerging from the group of masked thugs, was the person that seemed to be their leader; with his bald head, ghostly white skin and sharp shark teeth. Tombstone, former drug-lord and known enemy of Spiderman.
Tombstone approached the hairy man, and picked him up by his neck; the thug muttered, “You call yourself a Meta-Human; we’ve been on your tail for hours, and you had no idea.”
The man begged for his life, “Please, I’m not even a proper Meta-Human; I don’t have any special powers, I just look different.”
All Tombstone said in reply was, “Pathetic.” With one flex of his hand, Tombstone broke the poor man’s neck, killing him. He then threw the lifeless corpse to the ground; but he was not happy about this. The former drug-lord turned to his crew and said, “I’m talking about you, you’re all pathetic. One Meta’ dead a week is not good enough.”
The one thug that was brave enough, approached his boss with a tablet; the screen showed the latest news report. Tombstone took the tablet and looked at the headline, ‘Ravencroft Institute to open next month’ ; this was the break this gang had been looking for, a chance to hit hard at the Meta-Humans.
He looked back at his men and ordered, “Get the choppers ready, we’ve got work to do.”
Spiderman Equestria's Hero: Back In Action
In the aftermath of the Molten Man attack, the Spider-heroes were helping the city anyway they could. The streets were a mess, lava pools, out of control fires; emergency services were spread thin.
A bus was on its side in the middle of the street, Spider-Girl was helping people by pulling them out of the bus and handing them to the EMTs who were on the scene. When the last person was safe, Twilight checked her phone, no signal; she tried her comm system, but it just came up as static.
Despite this, she had to contact Spiderman in some way, he was on the other side of the city.
Adam found some debris that was blocking a subway entrance; people were trapped underground. Spiderman lifted the rubble out of the way and allowed the people to get out; he pointed them in the direction of the fire brigade, they would look after them.
“Adam..... Adam..... Can you.... hear....”
Adam checked his comm, he could hear Twilight, but the signal was awful; the entire communication network must have been down. Never the less, Spidey was going to have to meet up with Twilight later, the city still needed help.
Spiderman jumped into the air and began swinging down the street, “Raggamuffin, what happened?” the hero muttered to himself. “I mean, he was no good guy; but this is extreme, even for him.”
Suddenly, Spidey saw someone trapped under some fallen debris; he jumped down from his web and landed next to them. Using all of his strength, Adam lifted the rubble away, the trapped person crawled out from underneath. Spiderman through the rubble away, then he checked the man.
“Spiderman, my leg. I think its broken.” The injured civilian said.
Adam hoisted the man onto his shoulders and carried him away, “Don’t worry, I’ll swing you to an ambulance.” He then jumped up and started swinging on webs. The hero carried the civilian all the way to the EMTs; once there, Adam placed the man on a gurney and left him in the care of the professionals.
Suddenly, the ground started shaking, buildings were beginning to crumble; all the seismic activity has caused some minor earthquakes. A large chunk of a building broke off from the rest of its foundation, and it fell towards the street below.
The hero’s Spider-sense warned him about the incoming danger, but he couldn’t react in time; there were too many people, he couldn’t clear them all. However, just before the debris his the ground, a blast of blue energy struck the rock and caused it to explode; leaving the smaller chunks to safely fall out of the way. Adam looked up again, only to find the rest of his team arriving on the scene.
Rarity, the one who just fired the life saving blast, aka Iron Heart. Applejack, the symbiote wearing spider, aka Spider-Woman. Pinkie Pie, the elastic party girl, aka Ms Marvel. Rainbow Dash, the fastest person on the planet, aka the Dash. And Soarin, Rainbow’s husband and the living energy source, aka Nova.
Spiderman had only one thing to say to his team, “Well, you lot took your time.” He said in a sarcastic tone.
“We do have lives outside of this work, Spidey.” Ms Marvel replied.
Police sirens were then heard wailing into the scene; the heroes all turned to see them. And stepping out of the leading car, was Police Captain, Gilda Griffon; the person who loathes superheroes more than anyone in the city.
The captain asked, “Detective Spear Head.” The newly promoted detective got out of his car and walked over to his superior. “What are these costumed clowns doing here? We’ve been over this.”
Spear Head replied, “Don’t worry, Captain; I will handle this.”
Gilda scoffed before wandering away, leaving Spear Head with the heroes. The detective walked over to them and they to him; Spider-Woman commented, “She is just a ‘bundle of joy’ as always.”
“Don’t let her get to you; the entire police department both looks up to and admires you. Everyone except her.” Spear Head replied. “I have receive hundreds of orders from her saying we should lock you up.”
The Dash replied, “Lock ‘us’ up? After all we do for this city.’
Nova put his arm around his wife, “Don’t let her get to you, babe.”
With the emotional moment passed, Rarity stepped forward and asked, “Is there anything we can help you with, detective?”
Spear Head quickly looked around, making sure Gilda wasn’t around; he was about to share police intel with them. “There is actually. A Crystal Prep school bus was hit on Ninth Street; no one was hurt, but five of the students are missing. As of right now, its been filed as a missing persons case; we don’t have any leads, I was hoping one of you could take a crack at it.”
Iron Heart was the one who asked, so the team felt it right for Rarity to take this one; she replied, “I’ll find those kids, you can count on me.” With that said, Spear Head returned to the other officers, there was still work to be done around the city.
When the heroes were left to themselves, Pinkie Pie commented, “That’s horrible, who would kidnap children?”
Applejack replied, “Who said anything about ‘kidnapping’? For all we know, they’re just lost somewhere in all this destruction.” That comment made Pinkie gasp in fear again, so AJ had to think fast, “But, I’m sure they’re fine, Sugarcube.”
Suddenly, Adam’s phone began ringing; Twilight Sparkle was calling, so he answered the call, “Hey, Twilight; I guess communications are fixed.”
But the other Spider-Hero replied, “Adam, we need to get back to CHS; Cranky Doodle will be having a cow right now.”
In all the commotion, Adam had completely forgotten about the school; some ‘first day’ this turned out to be. “I’ll be right there, Twilight.” He said before hanging up; he then turned to the girls and explained, “I’ve got to get back to the school, I think I’m about to lose my job.”
“Don’t worry, Adam; we’ve got this. You go and get fired.” Rainbow Dash stated.
“Rainbow!” the group said in unison.
Adam then jumped up and started swinging away, back to Canterlot High School.
With their friends handling things in the city, the two Spiders were able to swing back to Canterlot High; they were ready to face the consequences of their actions. The two of them changed back into their normal attire before walking back up to the school entrance; Cranky Doodle was already there waiting for them.
Adam started with, “Principle Doodle, I can....
However, Adam was cut off when the head-teacher said, “Well, guess who finally decided to show up today.” Cranky Doodle just shook his head in disappointment. “You know, Principle Celestia might have put up with the tardiness when you were a student here, but I won’t tolerate it. And you Ms Sparkle, I expected better from you.” He said, aiming at Twilight.
“Principle Doodle, I know this looks terrible.” Twilight pleaded. “But there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for what happened.”
The principle was trying to say his next thing, but he could not get a word out with Adam and Twilight babbling on with excuses; it was only after he raised his voice that he got them to be quiet and listen.
“No more excuses!” he stated. “Your job is to protect these students, not to abandon them. You’re fired, both of you.” Cranky Doodle handed Adam his backpack that he was holding and stormed off, leaving the two heroes without jobs.
The two of them stood there for a minute, just taking in what had happened; until Twilight said, “If I’d known being a superhero meant you couldn’t have a stable career, I’d have re-thought my life choices.”
“Welcome to my world.” Adam replied.
Later that day, Spiderman was back in his threads and swinging down town; he was going to a neighbourhood just outside the main city. His wife, Fluttershy was there, he said he'd meet her outside one of the houses.
Whilst swinging there, Fluttershy called Adam to check on him, “Hi honey, how was your first day?”
Adam replied, “Oh, it was fine. Teaching and all that.”
“Molten Man really made a mess in the city, I was worried Blue Flitter was going to cancel on us.” Fluttershy explained.
But Adam replied, “Even if she did, we could’ve always rebooked the appointment, nothing is going to stop this from happening.”
Fluttershy ended the conversation with, “Okay, I’ll see you in a bit, I love you.”
“I love you too.”
With that said, the call ended, just as Adam was swinging down to the ground; he ducked behind some dumpsters to change, once that was done, he ran over to join his wife.
Adam and Fluttershy met up outside one of the houses on the block, it had a ‘FOR SALE’ sign out the front. Ever since the two got married, Fluttershy always believed that they should move out of the apartment and get a proper house together.
After the married couple greeted each other with a quick kiss, it was time for Adam to bite the verbal bullet. Fluttershy asked him, “What’s wrong?”
The Spider-Hero replied, “I... got fired.”
“What, oh no. You were really looking forward to this job.” Fluttershy replied.
“Me and Twilight had the whole term planned out. Just next week, we were going to build a potato powered helicopter.” Spidey explained.
Fluttershy then said, “Don’t worry, Adam, this isn’t the end. If all else fails, I can get you a job back at the animal shelter with me.” She giggled at a memory that just came back. “Remember the day we first met?”
“How could I forget, I handed you my resume and we played with some of the dogs; then we got attacked by a were-wolf.” Adam replied.
After shaking her head and sighing, Fluttershy said, “The point is, when one door closes, another door opens.”
Adam then noticed a woman in a suit approach them; she had a flip-chart and a briefcase, Blue Flitter, the real-estate agent. The couple shook hands with the agent and introduced themselves.
"Hello, my name’s Fluttershy, we spoke on the phone. And this is my husband, Adam.” Fluttershy explained, Adam just waved slightly.
Blue Flitter replied, “Yes, the Shy’s. You’ve been looking to purchase a property here in this area, lets get started.” The agent led the couple into the house they were next to, hoping this could be a good sale.
The agent opened the door and already, Fluttershy loved it; she’d not lived in a place like this since she moved out of her parents house. Adam and Blue Flitter just let Fluttershy wander off through the house, she wanted to explore; leaving Adam to work out the details.
Adam said to Blue Flitter, “Well, I can tell my wife already loves it.” Fluttershy being happy always made Adam happy; which was bad news as Blue Flitter was about to make all the good feelings come crashing down.
“The mortgage starts at about $22,000.” Blue Flitter explained.
Making Adam reply, “Go to hell.”
That statement came out of nowhere, causing both Adam and Blue Flitter to gasp; Adam shook his head and replied, “I’m sorry, I don’t normally talk like that. That’s just the start of the mortgage?”
The agent explained, “Well, you need to put a deposit of that amount down if you want a chance of even starting the procedure to purchase this house.”
Adam walked over to Fluttershy, he hated to deprive her of her dream home, but she needed to know the money-situation. Adam explained it to her and she saw where he was coming from, but she also didn’t want to give up on this.
Fluttershy said to Adam, “Honey, I know this seems like a lot of work, but I really want this for us. This could be the next chapter in our lives.” She then took his hand, “This could be where we raise a family.”
Adam replied, “I want all that, and more, but we’re in way over our heads here. We can barely afford the place we live in now.”
The couple then hugged, holding each other in their arms; Fluttershy said, “We’ll get through this rough patch, you’ll see.”
Driving through the streets of Canterlot were three black vans; they were driving around the roadblocks and trying to be as discreet as possible. The drivers and occupants of the black vans were all wearing the purple hockey masks with the earth-picture painted on the temple.
All except for the man in the back of the third van; Tombstone was sitting in his seat with a laptop propped up in front of him. In his ear, was an earpiece; he tapped the device and said, “Report.”
One of his men responded with, “Multiple targets eliminated, however Molten Man eluded us. Recapture, not an option.”
Tombstone replied, “So one got away, big deal. Be ready for the transfer tomorrow, and don’t let me down.” As the former drug-lord played with the combat knife in his hands, he looked at his laptop; it showed the prisoner manifest, inmates from Rykers who were going to be transferred to Ravencroft.
Meanwhile, in another part of the city, Spider-Woman was swinging down the street and searching for people to help; it had been a good few hours since Molten Man’s rampage, but the city was still half destroyed. Rescue teams were sent out, and construction teams were sent to destroy any unstable structures.
While she was swinging, Applejack noticed someone calling her down; she looked below and saw a chief firefighter and his crew stood by a crumbling building. The chief was calling the Spider-hero down, they needed help.
Applejack let go of her web and landed in front of them, “Howdy, chief; what’s the problem?”
The fire chief explained, “This building has been deemed unsafe, so we’re tearing it down; we’ve managed to set explosives in all the sectors but the last one....”
Before the chief could finish, an explosion was heard from above; everyone looked up and saw a smoke cloud from one of the top floors.
“The demo-crews’ in there, there’s four of them.” Another firefighter explained.
Applejack replied, “Don’t worry, Sugarcube; I’ll find them. Just keep your radios open so we can communicate. And make sure nobody touches that detonator.” With that said, Spider-Woman jumped up and used a symbiote tentacle to pull herself towards the building; she found an open window and crawled inside.
As soon as she got inside, she found one of the demo-crew; they were trapped in the room, and the walls were crumbling around him. Spider-Woman jumped down next to him, she then used a number of symbiote tentacles to hold up the ceiling.
“Are you alright?” she asked him.
The worker replied, “Yeah, I’m fine.” The man then remembered something he had, “I have a beacon on me, all the demo-crew do. Its so we can be found in situations like this; but mine’s busted.”
Applejack pushed the ceiling up and used webs to hold it and the walls in place, then she took the beacon device and knew how to repair it.
Despite the fact her suit was an artificial symbiote, she was still connected to the server that the rest of the team uses for hacking, communication and system repairs. Applejack used this system to hack the beacon and reactivate it.
“There you go, Sugarcube.” She said, handing back the beacon. “Fire and Rescue will come and pick you up.”
The demo-worker was breathing normally now, Spider-Woman carefully broke through the door to the next room; she had to work her way through the building to find the rest of the crew.
As she crawled over the debris, she saw a large sheet of plaster that had fallen from the ceiling; it was blocking her way, and she could mildly hear the sound of someone talking on the other side. So, Applejack surged her suit and shot a large symbiote tendril out of her left arm; it acted like a giant fist and punched through the obstruction.
She found two of the demo-crew, they were pinned down under fallen debris; one of them was able to call out, “Spider-Woman, we can’t move.”
“I’ll lift it; once you’re free, move out of the way.” Spider-Woman explained. Applejack once again had to surge her suit, channel all the strength to her arms; she lifted the debris off of the workers. But suddenly, another piece of rubble fell from the ceiling and landed on top of the pile; Applejack had to use even more strength to lift it just enough so the men could get out.
“Go, go, go.” AJ muttered.
The workers were able to crawl out from under the rubble and make it to safety. Applejack had to let go of the debris; so she dropped the pieces of the building and jumped out of the way.
All three of them were in the clear, but the debris was cutting Applejack of from the two demo-workers; she could still see them through a hole in the rubble. So AJ told them, “Stay where you are and activate your beacons. Fire and Rescue will be able to find you.”
One of the workers replied, “Okay, and thank you.”
Now Applejack had to find the last worker before the whole building came crashing down; she found an air-vent she could use to get to the other side of the building. She commented, “Seen Adam and Twilight do this all the time.”
While crawling through the ventilation system, Spider-Woman could look through the ceiling and see the rooms below her; but what puzzled her the most, was that she could hear voices in the distance, calm voices.
“We’ve got everything worth taking! If we keep digging for more, this whole place is going to come down.”
“The boss said he was here working. We don’t leave until we’ve ‘iced’ the snitch.”
Applejack kept crawling through the vents and followed the voices, until she reached the end of the vent; that’s where she heard another voice say, “Over here, I found him.”
Spider-Woman crawled out of the vent and up the wall of a large open room, it looked like the main entrance hall of the building. She saw the people that were talking; they were all wearing winter clothes and snow coats, along with ski-goggles to hide parts of their faces.
There were six of them in the room, three had guns, one was holding a crowbar and the last two were holding.... the last demo-worker.
One of the thugs holding the worker asked, “Is this him?”
The one with the crowbar replied, “Yeah, this is him.” he turned his head to the worker, “This is the snitch.”
The demo-worker was trying to plead with them, “Please, I didn’t tell the police anything, I just wanted out.”
“Oh really, well someone told the pigs about the boss; now he’s on the run and has lost everything. And the boss seems to think it was you.” The thug with the crowbar said. “So now, we have to even the score.” The thug raised his weapon and was about to strike.
That was until Applejack jumped off the wall, spun in the air, shot webs at the faces of the ones holding the worker and swung her leg around to trip up the one with the crowbar. She turned to the demo-worker and shouted, “Get out of here!”
The man nodded and ran for his life, leaving AJ with the winter-thugs.
The crowbar-guy charged towards the hero, but she responded by punching him three times before kicking him to the wall, knocking him unconscious. Another thug tried to attack, but Spider-Woman grabbed him by his shoulders and they were both lifted by two tendrils that emerged from AJ’s back; she then slammed the thug on the ground, with her landing on his stomach.
After that, the three guys with guns all lined up and were about to fire; that was until Spider-Woman shot three tendrils out of her right hand and grabbed the three gunmen. All three of them were slammed on the ground and knocked out cold.
Once they were down, Applejack remembered there was still one guy left; she turned around and saw him trying to run away. He ran out the door; but before AJ could go after him, something strong threw him back through the door and to Applejack’s feet.
Spider-Woman looked at the door, only to find a familiar face in the door frame; the city’s greatest thief, and slipperiest criminal, Octavia. AJ watched as ‘The Talon’ ran to the thug she’d just knocked out; she didn’t pay any attention to Applejack, or even acknowledge she was here.
Talon pulled down the thugs sleeve, revealing the tattoo he had on his arm, it was an iceberg. “I knew it.” She muttered.
“Um, hello.”
Octavia looked up at Applejack, finally taking notice; the thief explained, “You’re not the spider I was expecting to find here.”
Spider-Woman replied, “He’s busy.” She felt the need to remind her. “With his wife.”
“Don’t waste your breath, I’m over him now.” Octavia explained.
Suddenly, the room started shaking; the building was too unstable, it was coming down. The two realised that they couldn’t stay here, they needed to get out.
“I guess I’ll see you around.” Talon said to the hero.
Applejack replied, “What about them?” gesturing to the thugs.
“They made their choice.”
With that, Octavia just left; Applejack couldn’t just leave these criminals to die here, so she had to work fast. Using six tentacles that emerged from her back, AJ grabbed all six of the thugs and ran for the door. She used her symbiote strength to burst out of the building, she then threw all six of the thugs to the wall of the building across the street and kept them there with a large web-net.
Once everyone was save, she sent a message to the fire fighter at the scene; she told them that all the people were out of the building and that the police should be called about the winter-thugs across the street.
After all that, AJ swung up to the rooftops; she muttered to herself, “I think I just found myself a case; I should keep an eye out for Octavia and any more of these snow-coat-thugs.” However, it was getting late, Applejack decided to swing home for the night; the city was safe again, for now.
Spiderman Equestria's Hero: Back In Action
Early the next morning, Rarity had already dawned her Iron Heart armour and was flying over Canterlot City. Within her suit, she had already loaded in her AI assistant, Coco Pommel. The virtual helper that Fancy Pants so graciously let Rarity keep.
“Good morning, Miss Rarity; I trust you slept well.” Coco’ enquired.
Iron Heart replied, “Coco’, darling; how many times must I tell you to just call me ‘Rarity’?”
“At least one more time, Miss Rarity.”
The two of them were on their way to the police’s impound lot; the place where they keep cars used by criminals or large vehicles that have been deemed crime scenes. It was where the police were keeping the school bus that the five missing Crystal Prep students disappeared from.
Upon arrival, Iron Heart landed in the yard, right in front of the school bus. Coco Pommel explained, “From the little evidence that Detective Spear Head gave us, the only people on the bus at the time were the five missing students.”
Which made Rarity ask, “What about the bus driver?”
“He had got off the bus to find help; at the time, the road was blocked by debris.” Coco’ said, reading from the police report that had been uploaded into her systems. “But when he returned to the bus, with emergency response units, the students were gone.”
Rarity figured they’d find more answers on the bus; so using her suits strength, she carefully pride the doors open and entered the bus. Now that they were on the ‘crime-scene’, Rarity needed to find any evidence the police might have missed.
Iron Heart stated, “There must be something here that can help us figure out what happened yesterday. Something, anything.” The hero looked around the seats and driver’s compartment, she couldn’t find any physical evidence.
This gave Coco Pommel an idea, “Miss Rarity, now might be a good time to try the evidence-scanner. Master Adam has it in his mask lenses and uses it to scan crime-scenes; and I took the liberty of uploading the program into your suit.”
That was a good idea; Rarity stood in the middle of the bus, “Activate Detective Mode.” Rarity said. The eye lenses in her mask scanned the bus, it was picking up traces of residue all over the bus; and anything that seemed out of the ordinary were highlighted in red.
Right by the front of the bus, where the entrance was, was a cloud of a chemical compound; Rarity scanned the residue and Coco’ was able to identify it.
“Gun smoke; Miss Rarity, that’s gun smoke.” The AI explained.
Rarity replied, “Someone fired a gun in here; there was no body reported or traces of blood found, so I don’t think this was a hit.”
The next thing Rarity scanned for was the bullet, she wanted to see where it impacted. She looked up and found the bullet lodged into the metal of the ceiling; Coco’ projected a hologram figure with a gun, showing them firing a pistol into the ceiling.
The hero concluded, “The assailant fired his weapon into the ceiling, probably to get the attention of the students.”
Walking back down the steps of the bus, Rarity found the last piece of evidence she needed; multiple fingerprints on the hand railing. She scanned the prints, and with the national crime data-base at her disposal, she was able to identify who they belonged to.
“The fingerprints all belong to the missing students, they got off the bus themselves.” Rarity then noticed the last trace of prints, a sixth set; most likely belonging to the person with the gun. She deeply scanned the prints and Coco Pommel identified them to someone within the police records.
Coco’ explained, “The fingerprints match to a certain, Tire Tracks; previous charges include vandalism and grand theft auto. He was released from Rykers six months ago.”
Rarity asked, “Location?”
“According to building records and leases; Tire Tracks recently took ownership of a warehouse down by the docks. I’ve just got the address.” The AI explained.
Iron Heart stepped off the bus and replied, “Then let’s pay him a little visit.” With that said, the superhero flew off into the sky.
It took Rarity only a few minutes to fire herself across the city with her rocket boosters; with a hard bang, she landed right outside the warehouse, leaving a small dent in the ground. The armoured hero noticed a door that she could use to get inside, so she entered the building to find the missing students.
Iron Heart said to her AI, “Any life-signs, darling?”
However, there was no answer.
Rarity tried to boot up her systems, but something was going wrong; her entire network was shutting down. The inside of her helmet went dark, all that was left functioning was the optical systems and the motor-functions, so she could see and move.
“What is going on?” she asked.
Suddenly, spotlights lit up the room; Rarity was stood in the centre of the warehouse, in front of her was a large stage with a curtain covering it, but what caught her attention was the flickering video screen behind her. Iron Heart turned to the screen as the picture came up.
The screen showed a figure, in a hoodie and a creepy looking mask; the masked man said, “Welcome, superhero; prepare to take your final exams.” His voice was all muffled, like he was speaking terribly into a microphone.
Iron Heart didn’t understand, so she asked, “What is this? Some kind of funny joke?”
“Not at all, hero; you can call me, Jigsaw. And its time to take the DATs; Deadly Aptitude Tests.” ‘Jigsaw’ replied. “You’ll have to think hard, and think fast.” He then started laughing like a maniacal maniac.
Rarity simply crossed her arms, “You have some serious issues, darling. This isn’t funny.” She explained.
“School isn’t meant to be funny. Its punishingly difficult!” Jigsaw yelled.
Just ignoring his outburst, Rarity was already tired of this; she pointed her finger at the screen and demanded to know, “Alright, enough is enough. Where are the missing students?”
Jigsaw chuckled slightly before replying, “There’re alive, for now.” He then showed Rarity five boxes that appeared on the screen, five empty squares. “The rules of this test are simple, there are five questions all together; for every answer you get right, you advance to the next test. But if you get a question wrong, lets just say, something terrible will happen.”
More spotlights lit up as Jigsaw stated, “Let the DATs begin.”
A noise from behind Rarity caught her attention, she turned back to the stage and saw the curtain lift out of the way. When the curtain was gone, Rarity gasped at the sight of one of the missing Crystal Prep students, handcuffed to a pole.
The student was coming around, she had been unconscious; when she was fully up, she noticed her situation and gasped. She had long red hair, light green skin and was wearing her Crystal Prep uniform; she saw the superhero in front of her and yelled, “Iron Heart!”
Rarity ran to her and asked, “Are you okay, darling?”
“Well, I’m chained to a pole a creepy warehouse, so not really.” The student replied.
Iron Heart went round to her back and tried to break the handcuffs, but even with her suit, they wouldn’t break. On a smaller screen beside the stage, Jigsaw appeared again; he laughed at the sight of them.
“Rose Bud here is wearing Titanium shackles, wired to open via remote control; hence why I disabled your suits computer systems. Can’t have you cheating.” Jigsaw then pushed a button; the machines built into the ceiling were shifting, until a satellite dish was lowered down on a robot arm. And to its sides, two mirrors did the same.
Looking confused, Rose Bud asked, “Mirrors?”
Jigsaw explained, “Irradiated mirrors.” The shine from the spotlights shined into the mirrors, they reflected the beam into the satellite, which generated a heated beam that fired into the floor.
Rarity watched the beam move towards the stage; she stated, “A laser.”
“In thirty seconds, this fiery red head will literally be on fire.” He was right, the laser beam was heading right for Rose Bud. “Unless you answer the following question: What was the team name for Canterlot High School during the Friendship Games?”
“Iron Heart!” Rose Bud screamed as the beam got closer.
But that’s when it hit Rarity, this question was easy; she turned to the screen and answered, “Wondercolts, its The Wondercolts.” A tick suddenly appeared in one of the boxes on the screen. Also, the cuffs holding Rose Bud in place unlocked and dropped off; Rose Bud quickly jumped out of the way as the laser started melting through the pole.
The student ran into Rarity’s arms, hugging her, she had never been so scared in her life.
Jigsaw brushed off this minor set back and stated, “Not bad, that was... cutting it close.” He then laughed at his own joke.
Iron Heart picked up the cuffs and threw them at the screen, breaking the glass; Jigsaw switched back to the bigger screen in front of them. Rarity stated, “No more games. Where are the other four students?!”
“You’ll find them in time; I’ve hacked your network so we can communicate.” Jigsaw turned on all the lights, illuminating the whole warehouse. “When I’m ready, I’ll send you the location of the next test. Until then, have a good life.” Jigsaw laughed one more time before the screen went black.
With nothing left to go on, Rarity had no choice; she had to keep playing this twisted game in order to save the students. Speaking of which, the hero checked on the one she just saved.
“Are you okay?” Iron Heart asked.
Rose Bud replied, “I am now. This was like some twisted horror movie sequel.” She was breathing heavily, still in minor shock. “I mean, that guy’s not just nuts, he’s a whole bag of trail mix.”
Rarity pushed a button on her wrist computer, alerting the authorities of her location, along with an encoded message; she explained to the student, “Stay here, an officer is on his way, he’ll take you back to CCPD.”
With that said, Iron Heart left the building; when she walked outside, Coco Pommel came back online. “Miss Rarity, what happened? I lost power for a moment there.”
The hero replied, “What was that? You’ve never gone offline like that before, darling.”
Iron Heart turned her head back to the building and Coco’ ran a quick scan of the warehouse; when she was done, the AI concluded, “The entire warehouse was layered with an interference alloy, blocking my systems.”
Rarity then stated, “This person may be insane, but he certainly knows what he’s doing.”
Now that everything was done here, Rarity ignited her rockets and flew off into the sky; all she could do was wait for Jigsaw to contact her with his next ‘test’.
Across the city, in her room in her Mom’s apartment, Twilight Sparkle was lying on her bed; she had her laptop on her chest, with something on the screen. She was writing up her resume to try and apply for another job. The only problem was, there was a section where she had to write something about herself; and for some reason, she couldn’t think of what to right.
“Let’s see.” Twilight muttered to herself. “I used to attend Canterlot High, I’m in a loving relationship with my girlfriend. And in my spare time, I punch bad guys and swing on webs through the city in a pink and white costume.” She read it aloud, before holding down back-space.
Twilight quickly tried again and typed, “My name is Twilight Sparkle.” She then thought for a moment, “And even I’m bored already.”
Suddenly, on her computer screen, Twilight saw she was getting a video call from Adam; needing a distraction, she quickly answered.
When Adam came onto the screen, he greeted her with, “Hey Twilight; you busy? Could use some help with a babysitting job at Rykers.”
“I’m there, whatever you need. I’ll call you on the way.” Twilight hanged up the call and left the room. She snuck out of her window and up to the roof where she kept the backpack with her suit; after a quick change into her spider-gear, she leaped off her roof and began swinging through the city.
It had been a while since Twilight had been able to just swing through the city and enjoy the power that she had been given. So she decided to fix that.
Without even thinking, she web-zipped to a building and began running up its side; when she reached the top, she jumped forward and spring-front-flipped off the other side. Spider-Girl slid down a slanted roof before pulling herself forward with webs; she jumped past some people who were having a party on one of the rooftops.
“Excuse me, late for work.” She joked, shooting past them.
As she flew through the air, the Spider-Hero was flipping and spinning in the air; before calming down and sensibly swinging between the buildings. Whilst web-swinging, the comm system in her mask got a call from Spiderman.
“Twilight, I’m just getting to Rykers. You on your way?” Adam asked.
Spider-Girl replied, “On my way, who are we babysitting?”
Spiderman explained, “I heard yesterday that Zzzax is being transferred to the Ravencroft Institute. Not much room at Rykers for him since Molten Man became his roommate.”
“Zzzax can definitely throw a tantrum; I’ll be there.” With that said, Twilight ended the call.
Not long after, Twilight got another call, from her Mom. “Hey Twilight, did you just pop out?”
She replied, “Yeah Mom, just going to meet my friends.”
Twilight Velvet explained, “Well, I just wanted to remind you, your father is coming home today.” After everything that had happened these last few days, Twilight completely forgot, Night Light was being released from Rykers today.
“That’s great Mom, I’ll be home as soon as I can. I can’t wait to see him.” Spider-Girl explained to her mother.
“Me too, I’ll see you at home later.” After that, Twilight ended the call; she was almost at the prison.
A few minutes later, Spider-Girl made it to the harbour; using her webs, she zipped from boat to boat, all the way to the small island where Rykers prison was. And after latching onto the wall of the prison, Twilight ran around the complex before running into Spiderman on one of the lower roofs; he was watching the prison guards ready the boat being used for the transfer.
Twilight landed next to Adam, and they were ready for this transfer themselves.
Spiderman greeted his friend with, “Hey Spider-Friend. Glad you could make it.”
“Looks like I’m just in time.” Spider-Girl replied.
Once she said that, the large doors were opening to the prison; emerging from those doors, guards were walking the prisoner out to the boat. And for the first time in three years, the Spider-Heroes saw their old friend.
Contained within a special harness to negate his powers, Micro Chips walked out to the boat; the heroes would never forget this sight, his entire body was made of living energy and eyes glowed like super-charged headlights.
As Zzzax stepped out of the doors, he stopped for a minute and inhaled; the first time he’s been able to breathe in fresh air for so very long.
“Keep it moving, Micro Chips.” One of the guards stated.
Micro’ turned to that guard and smiled, the best he could with his crooked mouth; a small spark of electricity flickered off his shoulder. This sudden move made the guard flinch, thinking something bad was going to happen; Zzzax simply chuckled before following orders and moving onto the boat.
Once the prisoner was on the boat, the guards followed behind and they shipped off; the boat began sailing around the bay and on its way to Ravencroft. The Spider-Heroes were beginning to wonder if they were even needed for this, until Adam noticed something out of the ordinary.
Three black helicopters were seen by the two heroes flying over the water and towards the boat; Spiderman asked, “When did they call in air support?”
“I don’t think that’s air support.” Spider-Girl replied.
The two of them jumped from the prison and were quickly able to swing to the boat before it was too far out; they landed on the boat, right in the middle of all the guards. The men took little notice of the Spiders, their eyes were fixed on the choppers.
Twilight moved closer to one of the guards to say, “We need to make sure the prisoner is secure....”
But, before she could finish, one of the choppers opened it’s doors and revealed someone; it was the gang with the purple hockey masks, the ones who hunt Meta-Humans. And in their hands was a rocket launcher; without hesitation, they fired the weapon at the boat, a direct hit on the bridge of the ship. Before the guards could react to this attack, another person from above threw down a grenade; it generated a small explosion which blasted the guards and Spiders away, knocking the guards unconscious.
Spider-Girl swung up to the ship’s bridge to check the crew were alright; Spiderman stayed with the guards, checking they were still alive.
During this time, the three choppers were hovering over the boat, and thugs began sliding down ropes onto the deck; Adam, being the closest, figured he’d have to deal with these guys.
“I really should’ve stretched.” He joked.
Spiderman was surrounded by seven thugs, two had machine guns and one had a knife. One of the attackers charged for the wall-crawler and tried to punch him; but Adam caught his fist and forced it back into the thug’s face, Spidey then swung his leg around and kicked him away. The knife wielding criminal ran for Spiderman, but the hero shot a web at her stomach and pulled her forward; he then jumped over her and grabbed her shoulders with two other webs and swung her over his head, slamming her into the ground and knocking her out cold.
Adam asked, “Who are you guys?” but the thugs didn’t answer, so Spidey explained, “Okay, hi; I’m Spiderman. In case you didn’t know, Zzzax is bad news. Definitely want to keep him in prison.”
The two gang members with machine guns were about to fire, until Adam shot their guns with webs, sealing the barrels; after that, the hero spring-back-flipped and kicked them both off the boat and into the water. One of the other guys picked up the dropped knife and tried to strike Adam from behind, but his Spider-Sense warned him; so he jumped backwards and landed on the guy’s shoulders, then used his legs to flip the thug backwards and knock him out.
To finish off the thugs, Spiderman grabbed a piece of burning debris with his webs and threw it at the last two gang members; when it exploded upon impact, the purple-mask-wearers were knocked out.
Once that group was dealt with, Spiderman started making his way to the back of the boat; he called Twilight on the comm. “Spider-Girl, they’re trying to get inside the ship.”
“They want Zzzax.” Twilight replied. “We’ve got to stop them.”
Suddenly, Adam’s Spider-Sense warned him about an incoming threat; but when he saw it, he didn’t want to believe it. Flying towards the ship were three airborne spider robots, purple armoured plating and glowing green eyes. One of the robots flew right past the hero, while another grabbed him and hoisted Spidey into the air.
Making a joke, Spiderman said, “Well, aren’t you a handsome little devil.”
Spiderman kicked the robot away and began free falling back to the ship; that was until one of the other robots flew right into him and bashed Adam right to the back of the boat, where Twilight was.
The two Spider-Heroes felt it best to fight together, especially now they were surrounded by gang members and flying robots; five thugs in total, and still three spider robots.
As the heroes started fighting, Adam stated, “Have you seen these guys? A lot of money and tech here.”
Twilight replied, “Yeah, these guys aren’t messing around. They seem desperate to get their hands on Zzzax.”
Fighting was tough, but the thugs were starting to go down; the robots were flying and Twilight knocked down the last of the gang members.
But that didn’t mean that this was over; the heroes noticed a fourth chopper flying in, and from that chopper, a flare was shot. When Spider-Girl saw the flare, it made her look to the beach the boat was passing; on that beach, were more members of this gang. All of them were holding rocket launchers, and with the flare as their signal, they all fired.
The rockets blasted holes in the boat, water was seeping in, the ship was going down. The boat was flooding and there were guards trapped inside; not only that, but the flying spider robots were still attacking from above.
“Get inside the ship and help the crew!” Adam ordered. Twilight nodded and jumped off the side, she then fired two web-lines and pulled herself right into one of the blast holes. After she was gone, Adam finished, “I’ll deal with the flying knock-offs.” The hero then jumped up to the robots.
Inside the boat, Spider-Girl was crawling around, looking for anyone trapped inside; the ship was quickly filling up with water, she needed to work fast. She immediately found two guards inside the boat; one was trapped under a piece of debris, the other was trying to help him.
Using two web-lines, Twilight latched then onto the rubble then jumped over a pipe that was mounted to the ceiling. With the help of her weight, Twilight was able to use the pipe and the webs to pull the debris away.
“Oh my gosh, thank you.” One of the guards said, whilst helping up his friend. “There are more guards trapped deeper in the ship.”
Spider-Girl replied, “I’ll find them; get topside before this place goes under.”
After the guards made their way to the exit, the Spider-Hero had to go deeper into the ship in order to find the last of the trapped crew.
Twilight was crawling up a corridor, it was on its side, the boat was tipping over; the hero suddenly got a call from Adam outside. “You okay in there?”
Spider-Girl replied, “I’m trying to get out. Looking for civilians on the way; its bad in here, Adam”
She reached the top of her corridor and pulled herself into the large room with webs; this room was filled with storage crates and shipping containers, along with a huge gaping hole in the wall. Water was flooding the room, causing the ship to go down.
On the far side of the room, Twilight could hear something; it sounded like a muffled voice. Spider-Girl could just make out what the person was saying, “Is someone out there? Zzzax, he got out and threw me in here.”
The Spider-Hero jumped over the water and to the wall, she found herself by Zzzax’s holding cell, she could hear the guard inside.
Twilight replied, “Don’t worry, I’ll get you out.”
She gripped the edges of the cell and attempted to pry it open; however, the door was electronically locked. Luckily, Twilight thought of another plan; using the visor in her mask to find the wiring system that was powering the door. After scanning the walls, she found the main cable and followed it to the junction box; once she fired an electric web at the fuses, the power began to shut down.
Now that all power in that cell was off, Twilight web-zipped back over to the door and was now able to pry it open.
When the door came down, Twilight got a look at the one inside, the sight made her gasp.
Standing before her, was Zzzax; she had just freed him. And with the power off and the meta-power dampeners disabled, Micro Chips was able to power himself up and brake free from the harness; he felt a huge surge of electricity pass through his body.
The electric villain noticed Twilight in the room and stated, “Thanks a million, babe.” He then blasted her with a bolt of electricity, sending her flying across the room. Zzzax hovered off the ground and blasted Spider-Girl with more electricity, holding her in the air.
Spider-Girl managed to mutter, “But, I... saved you.”
“Oh really.” Zzzax replied, before blasting her through a wall, sending her somewhere else in the ship.
When Micro Chips was alone, he attempted to fly away; that was until a door flew open, three of the purple hockey mask thugs entered the room and found the electric villain. One of them said into a radio, “We have eyes on Zzzax.” Another aimed a weapon at the villain and fired a power-dampening clamp onto his leg; once again cutting off his powers.
Meanwhile, Twilight was recovering from being electrocuted; when she got up, she saw a hole in the ceiling and that she was surrounded by more masked thugs.
Spider-Girl began fighting by grabbing a piece of debris with her webs, and throwing it at two of the criminals; while she kept fighting them, she called Adam to tell him what happened.
“Spiderman, Zzzax got away!” Twilight yelled into the comm.
Adam replied, “Not exactly. I just saw them drag Micro Chips, wrapped in a tarp, to one of their choppers; I'm going after them now."
When the last thug went down, Spider-Girl web-zipped up through the hole in the roof and landed on the top-deck, or the side; the ship was fully on its side, and was heading right for the peer. While she was assessing the situation, Twilight noticed one of the choppers was surrounded by the flying spider robots.
The helicopter’s side-door opened, revealing the passenger; Tombstone came into full view, with a rocket launcher in his hand.
“Tombstone?” Twilight muttered.
The gangster aimed the weapon at the fuel tanks on the side of the ship, and fired; the rocket hit the tanks and knocked them into the water, they exploded, spreading fuel into the water and setting the bay on fire.
Twilight once again yelled into the comm, “Spiderman! Things just went from bad, to Canterlot Bay on fire bad.”
“That’s... wow, okay.” Adam replied. “Heading back now. We’ll deal with Zzzax later.”
Spider-Girl then noticed a boat with people on it in the water that the flames were reaching, the prison ship was also about to crush it. Twilight quickly web-zipped to the boat and landed on its front; using two web-lines, she latched them onto the peer and pulled the boat forward. But it wasn’t going fast enough, so Twilight turned around and shot an electric-web at the engine; the boat then jumped to life and raced towards the land and out of harms way.
The ship’s propellers had reached the peer, the people started running for their lives as the propellers began shredding through the wooden dock. Twilight jumped off the boat and in front of the deadly engine; Spider-Girl started pelleting it with webs, trying to stop it.
Twilight knew that the only way to stop it fully, would be to pry it off the ship entirely; so Twilight shot two web-lines at the engine, but something else happened.
A bat shaped ninja-star was thrown from the sky and cut right through Twilight’s webs; the hero looked up and got a real fright.
Morbius, the Living Vampire, swooped down with his giant bat wings and grabbed Spider-Girl by the shoulders; he then threw her across the peer, away from the propeller. He then landed in front of her, grinning at the hero with a smile full of fangs.
Spider-Girl didn’t notice the propeller breaking free from her webs, her eyes were fixed on the vampire. In a spine chilling voice, Morbius stated, “I remember you.”
Twilight clenched her fist, full of anger; she replied, “You don’t know what you took from me.”
Suddenly, a black chopper flew over their heads; Morbius saw that as his cue to leave. The vampire hissed at the Spider-Hero before flapping his wings to fly away, but Twilight wasn’t just going to let him go. Spider-Girl fired webs at the vampire, trying to stop him, but he just kept dodging them; Morbius flew away with the helicopters, Twilight was about to chase after them.
“Spider-Girl, I need your help.”
Twilight turned back to see Spiderman, helping the people get away and trying to stop the spinning blades. But the urge to got after Morbius was too much, she took one more step away before she realised the right thing to do.
Spider-Girl turned back to the propeller and had an idea; she shot a web-grenade right in the centre of the propeller and watched it explode, the entire engine was coating in webs. The pressure was so great, that the spinning blade broke off its mantle and went flying into the ocean. The ship was stopped in its tracks, the people were safe, it was over.
After that entire situation, rescue boats were sailing around the bay; they were putting out the fires and helping anyone who had fallen in the water. The Spiders were helping right up until they arrived; Spiderman landed on a lamppost on the dock, overseeing the boats.
“First responders are on the site, at least.” Adam muttered to himself. “The police are still fishing, but there’s no sign of any of them.”
He was then able to swing back over to the city, where Twilight was waiting for him; she was standing on a rooftop, just looking at the sea. Spidey landed next to her; once they were sure that no one was around or watching, they took off their masks.
Twilight then asked, “Who were those guys?”
“Whoever they are, they’re packing some serious tech.” Adam replied.
Twilight looked away from her friend, really concerned, “Now they have all that, plus Zzzax, Tombstone and Morbius." She had already got Adam up to speed with what she saw, Tombstone and Morbius were working with this gang, or the gang were working for them.
Adam then reassured her, “Hey, whatever they’re planning. We’ll find them, and we’ll stop them.” With that said, Adam needed to be sure about something; so he asked a question he didn’t really want to ask. “Listen Twilight, about Morbius.....”
“Don’t.” Twilight replied.
But Adam continued, “Look, when Shining Armour died...”
“I said don’t.”
Spider-Girl reapplied her mask and was ready to go home but before she left, she turned back to Spiderman and stated, “I know the job; but I can’t forget what he did.” Twilight then jumped off the building and began web-swinging away.
Whilst Twilight was swinging home from the botched prison transfer, she got a call on her mask-phone. When she answered, her heart sank from happiness; it was someone she’d wanted to talk to face to face for a long time.
“Hey, sweetheart.”
The Spider-Hero perched on a rooftop and replied, “Dad?”
“Yeah, Twily; its me. I’m out, and I want to see you.” Night Light explained.
Twilight could feel the tears forming in her eyes, “Yeah. Yes of course; where?” she replied.
Night Light gave her the location, “The roof of our apartment. Your Mom’s out getting supplies; says we’re having a welcome home dinner for me.” He chuckled at that last statement.
“I’ll be right there.” Twilight replied. She then ended the call and began swinging all the way home, she couldn’t wait to see her father again. However, a small part of her wanted to be careful; Night Light may be her father, but their last proper encounter ended in them fighting.
With her web-skills, it only took her a few minutes to get back to her apartment building, she landed on a billboard that overlooked her building; and there he was. Sat on a chair on the roof of the apartment, Night Light put down his coffee cup and stood out of his chair; he could see his superhero of a daughter.
“We really going to do this with the mask on?” he asked.
She didn’t want to, but Twilight had to be a little cautious; the hero replied, “Depends.”
Night Light laughed slightly at that remark, he then explained, “Relax. I’m not trying to get my butt kicked by my daughter again.” With that said, Twilight jumped down and took her mask off; the look on her face made Night Light chuckle again. “Your brother used to give me that exact same look.”
Without saying another word, the two of them came together and hugged; Night Light pressed his lips against her head, kissing his daughter’s forehead. However, his fatherly bond with Twilight was telling him that something was off.
“Twilight?” he asked. “Twilight, what’s wrong?”
Swallowing her fear, Twilight replied, “Michael Morbius. He’s back in the city.”
Night Light shook his head, he knew what she was thinking, “Listen, what happened to Shining Armour; this is not on you.” But Twilight was still looking down. “We can’t let him live up here.” Night Light explained, pointing at his head. “Its just another kind of prison.”
“Its not that easy, Dad.” Twilight replied. “I was right there with him, when Morbius killed him. And I couldn’t save him.”
“I never said it was easy.” Her father said back. “But sometimes, you have to push the past away, so you can make room for the future.”
Putting his arm around Twilight’s shoulder, Night Light explained, “I’m living proof of that, my parole means Prowler’s retired, for good. But I wasn’t going to be that man anymore anyway; because that man is finished, he’s gone. And I never got a chance to thank you for that.”
The two of them hugged one more time; Night Light then sat back down and Twilight sat opposite him. They decided not to talk about hero work anymore, now they just wanted to catch up and spend some time as father and daughter.
“How are you and Sunset doing?”
“We’re fine. I mean, I love her; and we always know when one of us needs the other.”
“I’m so proud of you Twily.”
Meanwhile, Spiderman was dangling from a web that was hanging onto a crane; he was on the phone to his wife, they were discussing the potential house.
“I’m thinking, we sell the apartment, and maybe our wages cover the rest.” Adam suggested.
However, Fluttershy replied, “Honey, I don’t make that much, I work at the animal shelter. And you don’t have a job.”
That comment made Adam sigh; being Spiderman and having a full time career were just cancelling each other out, one more than the other. Adam couldn’t think of anything that could be done for this, but he didn’t want to deprive the woman he loved, her dream home.
“I may have one idea.” Fluttershy then said. “We could take out a loan from a bank. I know it would put us into some debt, but it wouldn’t have to be a lot; just enough to start us off.”
But Adam replied, “Sweetheart, my parents did the exact same thing to buy the house they live in now; and they’re still paying it off to this day.”
This was going nowhere, there was no way of doing this; they needed the money, but there was just no way of getting it.
“When I get home tonight, I say we sit down and talk about this.” Spidey explained.
“Not tonight. We’re all going to Friendship Land.” Fluttershy explained. “You didn’t forget, did you?”
Adam quickly fibbed, “No, of course not.” He then let go of the web he was holding and started swinging down the street. “I’ll see you tonight, love you.”
He heard Fluttershy sigh in response, “I love you too.” With that said, the call ended.
Spiderman landed on a rooftop and perched on the edge, he commented on the end of that phone call, “She sighed. That’s how you know she’s not mad, just disappointed. And somehow, that’s so much worst.”
Suddenly, Adam noticed something in the distance; he couldn’t believe his eyes or his luck, but he finally had a lead to the new gang in town. Spiderman spotted one of those flying spider-robots hovering above the buildings; no doubt it was mapping out the surrounding areas.
The Spider-Hero watched as it landed on a building higher than the one Adam was on; without alerting the robot, Adam web-zipped to that building to try and sneak up on the spider-droid.
Adam saw the robot facing away from him, so in a quick act, he shot the robot with an electric-web; the spider-droid was temporarily disabled. And now that he had one of these robots at his disposal, a thought occurred, “Maybe I can try something out.”
Spiderman scanned the machine and found what he was looking for, the control panel hidden behind the armoured plating; Spidey pride away the cover and was granted access to the main system. With a little rewiring, Adam was able to activate the ‘Return Home’ setting; this caused the robot to reactivate and fly off into the sky.
With the robot on its way, Spiderman wasted no time going after it.
After a few minutes of following the spider-droid, Adam could see where it was going; the building looked like an old abandoned shopping mall. Spidey didn’t want the incoming robot to catch anyone’s attention; so with a quick motion, Adam once again hit the robot with an electric-web, shutting it down.
Spiderman watched the robot land on another rooftop and explode upon impact; this allowed the hero to focus on the location ahead.
Adam landed on the roof of the shopping mall, and inside was exactly what he expected; through the skylight he was next to, Adam could see the purple-hockey-masked gang members. The hero really needed more intel on these guys, so he went to his resident technical support.
“Hey Sunset.” Adam said as he started a call with Sunset Shimmer. “I’m at an old shopping centre on the east side, and those masked thugs are here.”
Sunset replied, “Twilight told me all about them; and this is not the first time we’ve tangoed with them.” She explained. Sunset then accessed an old case file they had, it dated back about two years. “These guys call themselves, the True Humans. Basically, they’re a low rate band of thugs who hate Meta-Humans; they think life was better for this city before people with super-powers showed up.”
Spiderman joked, “Who started this club, Gilda Griffon?” he then focused up again. “This place could be where they took Zzzax.” Spidey ended the call, but was going to keep Sunset Shimmer posted about whatever he found.
The only way to get some answers would be to snoop around, which means that these thugs would have to be taken care of.
Two gang-members were guarding an entrance into the building, Adam jumped down through the skylight and landed on a gargoyle that was mounted on the wall. While the two guards were talking, Adam noticed a way to distract one; a small generator was left on the side of the room, a well shot electric-web would cause the diversion he needed.
Adam fired the web, and the generator began to spark; this caught the attention of one of the guards, so they went over to investigate. This allowed Spidey the opportunity to shoot two web-lines at the other thug, pull them up to the gargoyle and tie them up in webs.
“Nighty night.” The hero joked.
And with no one watching his back, Adam saw fit to web-zip towards the second thug and slam him into the ground, knocking him out cold.
Now with a way in, Adam pride open the doors and made his way through the mall. Rarity would shriek at this place; plants were over growing, dirt was all over the floor, this place was disgusting.
For a secret base of criminals, Spiderman didn’t run into many guards; he did his best to avoid the ones he did run into, but its like there was barely anyone here. But what Adam found next was surprising, especially for this group; the hero wandered the halls before running into a research lab.
On the work benches, were certain items relating to three characters that Spiderman was all too familiar with.
“Tombstone.” All Adam thought about this was the fact he shot Fluttershy that one time, the time Adam almost lost her. Next to the work bench, Spidey noticed three yellow chemical barrels; the label on the side read ‘Diox-3’. Adam commented, “I remember this stuff; this is the chemical Tombstone was exposed to, its what made him what he is now.”
On the other side of the room, Adam saw vials of yellow liquid on the second work-bench; Spiderman also recognised this stuff. “This is the serum that turned Dr Morbius into a vampire; is he trying to replicate this for his crew?”
And finally, the last bench had a machine harness placed on a mannequin body; it was the harness that amplified Zzzax’s powers, when he was part of the Insidious Six. “The Tinkerer created this gear, while she was working for Morbius; he must be trying to charge it up for his new gang members.”
Spiderman had seen enough, if these villains gave their gear to the crew, they’d all be unstoppable.
The only way to stop this would be to find Tombstone, or Morbius, or any of them; using an air vent, Spiderman crawled through the air-duct to get around more of the building. While getting around, Adam called Sunset again, to give her the update.
“Sunset, I have the endgame for you. I think Morbius is trying to rebuild the Insidious Six; with old members and new ones.” Adam explained.
The red-haired girl replied, “That would explain all those break-outs; but then how come we haven’t heard from any of the other super-villains?” Sunset had a valid point, none of the other missing villains had been seen since they were freed. The only one to make an appearance in the last few months was Molten Man.
Spidey replied, “I don’t know; but I’m going to find them and get to the bottom of this.”
“Remember to call if you need backup.”
“Will do.”
Spiderman dropped out of the vent and into another room; to Adam’s surprise, this room actually had a guard in it. The mask thug turned around to see the super-hero behind him; the thug drew and knife from his pocket and went to attack the hero.
But Adam had seen his fair share of knife crimes; without even trying, Adam punched the guy in the face, disorienting him. After the criminal was stunned, Adam punched his face again; this one broke his mask and knocked him out.
“I need answers, not more questions.” Adam commented. He noticed the computer that this thug was watching over; Spidey then stated, “Let’s see what you were looking after.”
Suddenly, Adam’s Spider-Sense warned him about an incoming threat; the Spider-Hero jumped out of the way to dodge the spider-droid that just pounced at him from behind and took out one of the none essential computer screens.
Using humour to calm himself, Adam stated, “Can I just say how beautiful your design is. It would be a crime, no, an act of vandalism to take you apart.” The hero then raised his fists, ready to fight. “But that won’t stop me.”
The spider-droid pounced at the hero again, this time Adam didn’t dodge; he let the robot hit him and they both crashed through the wall into a large open room.
As Spiderman got to his feet, two more robots joined their arachnid brother in the room; all three were ready to tear the hero apart.
Adam started the fight by grabbing a piece of debris with his webs and swinging it around like a wrecking-ball; the rubble bashed away two of the robots, and Adam threw the debris at the last one. When the chunk of concrete hit the spider-droid, Spidey took advantage of its guard being down and began punching and kicking it; right up until he summersaulted over the robot and used two web-lines to pull himself back feet first, through the robot, smashing it into pieces.
The Spider-Hero started punching and kicking one of the other two robots, he then kicked it away; but it wasn’t down yet. The tampering it detected activated its self-destruct system; Adam grabbed the robot with his web-lines and threw it at the other, the explosion caused both of them to be destroyed.
Just when Adam thought the fight was over, he noticed the doors swing open and a group of the True Humans ran into the room.
"Finally, I was wondering when Animal Control would show up.” Adam joked.
The leading thug stated to his crew, “Surround him, Tombstone wants his head.”
Spiderman grabbed the leading gang-member with a web-line and pulled him forward; the hero then upper-cutted him into the air, jumped up after him and began punching the snot out of him. When he was down, Adam fought with the other three True Humans; punching and kicking them to the point that they were knocked unconscious.
Spidey looked around the room, the fight was over; Adam took a huge sigh of relieve, almost falling to the ground with exhaustion. But he remembered the computer he was trying to access; pulling himself forward with webs, Adam landed back in the room with the computer.
“What were you protecting?” Adam asked.
The file that Adam was able to access was a video, the curious hero pushed play, wanting to find out more.
The video showed an empty room somewhere in this mall, with an empty cage in the centre of the floor; it was empty now. The lock looked like it had been fried open with electricity; something wanted out of there.
Tombstone came into frame, walking towards the empty cage; he examined the lock. Behind him, the gang-leader could hear something coming; but what caught his attention was the True Human thug lying behind the cage, he was still alive, somehow.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, Zzzax teleported into the room; his hands were supercharged with energy, and he released that power by blasting Tombstone with hundreds of volts of electricity. Zzzax watched the gang-leader fall to his knees, the energy seemed to be weakening him.
“Nice knowing you.” Micro Chips stated.
But that wasn’t happening; Tombstone got back up as the electric blast was getting weaker. Zzzax was running out of energy, until he could no longer keep blasting.
The weakened electric-villain fell to the floor; Tombstone got up, completely unharmed by the blast. Brushing himself off, the gang-leader asked, “Is that, the best you can do?” Tombstone then grabbed Zzzax by his neck and slammed him against the back wall. “They said you had the potential to be a killer. Imagine my disappointment.”
Tombstone punched his hand into the wall, he pulled out a power cable; with one swift motion, Tombstone stabbed the end of the cable into Micro Chips’ neck, he cried out in pain. His wails got quieter as he started to disappear; the gang-leader watched as Zzzax’s body was absorbed into the cable, until there was nothing left of him.
Once Micro Chips was gone, Tombstone spoke into the radio he had with him, “Life signs?”
Someone on the other end replied, “No life signs detected, sir, he’s gone.”
Once the job was done, Tombstone just put the radio in his pocket and left the room like nothing had happened. After that, the video ended.
Spiderman couldn’t believe what he had just witnessed, the time frame on the video indicated that this happened just over an hour ago. Adam didn’t what to believe this was happening, but it was; Micro Chips was dead.
Spidey then concluded the new endgame of this gang and its leaders, “Tombstone isn’t breaking super-villains out of prison to team up with them; he’s taking them out.”
Adam had seen enough, he needed to get out of here and warn the girls; every Meta-Human in the city now had a target on their back, including Equestria’s Heroes.
Spiderman Equestria's Hero: Back In Action
After leaving the abandoned shopping mall, Spiderman was running up the side of a building, he still couldn’t wrap his head around what just happened. Tombstone is hunting super-villains to kill them; but why, and why is a gang that hates Meta-Humans, working for two Meta-Humans?
Adam knew he would have to pass this information onto the others, but how were the girls going to take this. He may have made some mistakes, but the Rainbooms did know Micro Chips before he became Zzzax.
Taking a breath, Adam perched himself on a rooftop and made the call to Fluttershy; after everything, it would be nice to listen to her voice right now. “Hi honey.” The sweet girl answered with.
Spiderman replied, “Hi sweetheart, I have had a day.” Adam took one more breath before he explained the situation. “So, I found a base that belonged to these ‘True Humans’; I learned they really are working for Tombstone, and Morbius. And...”
Fluttershy replied, “Go on, Adam.” There was a little bit of ‘nervous’ in her voice just then.
“Tombstone killed Zzzax.”
Adam just came out and said it, he could hear his wife gasp on the other end of the line; she thought before replying to her husband. “That’s horrible; why would he do such a thing?”
“I don’t know; but its not just him, they’ve got a whole hit-list of super-villains. They’re going after them all.” Spidey explained. The hero jumped off the roof and started swinging to his apartment; he told her, “I’ll see you when I get home.”
But Fluttershy replied, “Actually Adam, me and the girls, Soarin and Spike are already at Friendship Land.” Adam should have known that, he could hear the carnival music in the background. “We’re just waiting for you.”
This absolutely killed him inside, but Adam was just not up for fun right now; not after what he just saw. “I’m sorry, honey. But I don’t think I’m coming tonight, I’m just going to head home, maybe get some sleep.”
Obviously, Fluttershy was disappointed, but she understood; however, she was looking forward to them having some time as husband and wife. But she knew that this life came with its baggage, and Fluttershy promised when she put her wedding ring on, she would support Adam, no matter what.
“Okay, Adam. You get some rest; I’ll be home later.” Fluttershy explained.
Adam replied to her, “Thank you, sweetheart. I love you.”
“I love you too.” Fluttershy replied as she ended the call. She then noticed her friends waiting for her by the entrance to the park; she walked over to them and explained everything, how Adam wasn’t coming and what happened with Zzzax and Tombstone.
To no ones’ surprise, the group were all shocked that this had happened.
Rainbow Dash was the first to ask, “Does this mean, we’re targets too?” Soarin quickly put his arm around her, he could tell that she was slightly worried.
“I don’t know, Dashy. Adam didn’t have much information.” Fluttershy replied.
Sunset then stepped forward, trying to lift everyone’s spirits; she explained, “I’m not trying to sound mean here, but there’s not a lot we can do about it now. We’re here at the most fun place in the city; let’s take a night off and enjoy ourselves, just once.” Everyone could see the point she was making, so they were all in agreement, this was their night off.
The Rainbooms walked into the park to have fun, but the first thing they noticed was a new attraction with a sinister vibe on it. A circular building, with a big green eye on the sign; the sign actually read ‘MYSTERIUM’.
“What in tarnation is that?” Applejack asked, in her country tone.
“Looks like some kind of new ride or attraction.” Twilight replied.
Spike brushed himself against Twilight’s leg, thinking that this building was creepy; he explained, “Maybe we shouldn’t go towards the park ride that looks like it was made by one of your greatest enemies.”
However, the Mysterium was drawing a crowd, so the Rainbooms decided to see what all the commotion was about. On the little stage next to the entrance to the Mysterium, were two faces the Rainbooms actually recognised; Snips and Snails.
Snails was holding a laptop, while Snips was dressed like a ringmaster from a circus; when they saw the crowd that was forming, Snips stepped forward to address the public.
“Hello. I’m Snips Trotterham, master illusionist.” He then gestured to the Mysterium, “And this, is the next generation of entertainment.” Turning back to the crowd, he seemed proud of his attraction, but he needed someone to give it a go. “Is anyone willing to step into the future?”
The crowd was hesitant, no one wanted to try this thing out; they’d all seen the news, they knew who this attraction was based off. However, one person in particular was actually interested to see where this would go; Pinkie Pie stepped forward and volunteered.
“How about me?” she said, raising her hand.
The rest of the Rainbooms didn’t stop her, they knew this was all good fun. Snips stated, “Excellent, you’ll be taking the first step towards something never before seen, here in Friendship Land.”
Snails handed Pinkie a pair of special sunglasses and headphones; the doors to the Mysterium opened and Pinkie stepped inside. She was in a large open room, with a computer screen in the middle; she walked over to the screen to see what she had to do.
Pinkie could hear Snips talking to her through the head phones; he explained, “Now, just use the screen to customise your illusion. Make your dreams come true.” After hearing that, Pinkie Pie knew exactly what she wanted to do.
Once the settings were made, the illusion came to life; the sunglasses were helping her see it. Her entire environment changed, even she changed; she was now wearing a blue striped dress, with candy designs on it.
Pinkie Pie took a deep breath and mumbled, “This ones for you, Pa.”
Knowing exactly what she was doing, she stepped through the door that was in front of her and stood before a crowd of people. One man stepped forward, wanting to know.
“Is the store open?”
Taking one more deep breath, Pinkie took the man’s hand and replied....
(original)
“Close your eyes and count to ten;”
“Make a wish, now open them.” She sang while snapping her fingers.
“Here’s a store that’s like no other;”
“If it were, I wouldn’t bother.”
Pinkie walked the man into the store, the rest of the people followed; she began listing all the things this place had to offer.
“Chocolate bushes, chocolate trees;”
“Chocolate flowers and chocolate bees.”
“Chocolate memories that a girl once saved;”
“Before they melted away.”
The entire store lit up with bright lights and colourful designs; the place looked like a large forest, where everything was made of chocolate.
“A world of your own;”
“A place to escape to.”
“A world of your own;”
“Where you can be free.”
“Wherever you go;”
“Wherever life takes you.”
“This is your home;”
“A world of your own.”
Working in the shop, making the chocolate, were Mr and Mrs Cake; the ten year old Cake Twins were here as well. Not only that, all of Pinkie’s sisters worked here to.
Pinkie kept singing as she let the people explore the shop, trying all the candies and chocolates.
“Here is the child that you left behind;”
“Here is the kid with the curious mind.”
“Here is the wonder we used to feel;”
“Back when the magic was real.”
Pinkie walked up the stairs to the higher level of the store.
“A world of your own.”
“A place to go when you’re;”
“Feeling alone,”
“Feeling unsure.”
“Embrace the unknown;”
“Enjoy the adventure.”
The people watched as Pinkie Pie stepped off the balcony and onto one of the clouds that were hanging from ceiling; it began lowering her back down, whilst she had buckets of sweets to give out.
“Let’s go strolling in the clouds;”
“Grab a handful, it’s allowed.”
“Clouds are made of cotton candy;”
“Just keep your umbrella handy.”
The Cakes handed out umbrellas as Pinkie started throwing the sweets she had to the people.
“Cause there’s a hard rain gonna fall;”
“Humbugs, gumdrops and aniseed balls.”
“Fireworks bring sugar string, to chew.”
Sugar string fireworks went off behind Pinkie Pie and were spreading the candies across the room.
“All the colours of the rainbow;”
“And some others too.”
The rest of the people were singing along with Pinkie, this was the greatest candy store in the world.
“A world of our own;” (a world of our own)
“A place to escape to.” (a place to escape to)
“The world of our own;” (a world of our own)
“Where we can be free.” (where we can be free)
“Wherever you go;” (wherever you go)
“Wherever life takes you.” (wherever life takes you)
“This is our home;”
“A world of our own.”
With that final note, the people of the candy store all gave Pinkie Pie a huge round of applause; they only stopped clapping when the illusion was ending and the room was returning to normal. Once her experience was done, Pinkie took off her sunglasses and headphones and left the Mysterium.
Once again, the people clapped for her, being the first to try that experience. Once the pink haired girl re-joined her friends, Snips announced to the crowd, “This was but a small portion of the potential of the Mysterium; when all the preparation is complete, the Mysterium will be open to the public and all your wishes will come true.”
The small crowd began cheering, they couldn’t wait for this; the Rainbooms just started walking away, Pinkie was telling them everything that happened in there.
Later that night, the Rainbooms were wandering around Friendship Land; Applejack and Pinkie Pie had won prizes from the games-stand, Rarity with Spike in her arms were looking at the stands with all the merchandise and trinkets, Soarin and Rainbow Dash were checking the park’s map for the fastest rides.
However, Fluttershy, Twilight and Sunset were just sitting on one of the park benches; just taking in the sights and resting for a needed moment. Whilst Sunset was on the phone to someone, Twilight had a little chat with Fluttershy.
“You okay, sorry Adam couldn’t come out tonight.” Twilight stated.
Fluttershy replied, “I’m just glad he’s doing what he loves.”
“Lying in bed after fighting too many bad guys?”
“No, helping people who can’t help themselves.” Fluttershy explained. “Its great that he has talents to use in the benefit of others.”
Twilight replied, “You’re always looking on the bright-side, huh?”
“It’s better than the alternative.” Fluttershy said back.
Suddenly, Pinkie Pie and Applejack came rushing over to the rest of the group; Applejack asked everyone, “Anyone up for the go-karts?”
Rarity jokingly replied, “With your driving, darling, I think not.”
That was when some commotion was heard from the go-karting track; the Rainbooms all went over to see what was going on. When the group got there, they saw that one of the karts had crashed on the track; the kart flipped over and the driver was trapped underneath.
The mechanic, who was on the side-lines, jumped onto the track to help out; however, when the Rainbooms saw who the mechanic was, they didn’t believe it. The one lifting the kart off the civilian, the one working here at Friendship Land, was Spitfire.
“Hang on, I got you sir.” Spitfire said as she pushed the kart out of the way and helped the poor guy to his feet.
Soarin was the first one to ask, “Is that... Pyro?”
“What’s she doing here?” Fluttershy asked.
Applejack answered their questions with, “I think... she’s a mechanic.” The cowgirl saw what she was doing; no destruction, no fire, not even a spark. “And... she’s saving the day.”
When the other people saw what had just happened, they started clapping; it was their way of saying ‘great job’, Spitfire had just saved that guy.
The man that was trapped under the kart said to her, “Thank you, miss. That could have been bad.” He and Spitfire shook hands before she guided him off the track and out of harms way.
After that little event, the Rainbooms all agreed to take a miss on the go-karts; most of them were still just in shock from seeing a former super-villain save someone’s life. When she saw the rest of the group, Sunset Shimmer approached her friends after just getting off the phone, she had good news.
“Hey guys.” She said, getting their attention. “I just got off the phone with the manager of the new Canterlot Theatre; it just opened last week. Anyway, they wanted the Rainbooms to be the first performers in their new theatre.”
When the rest of the girls heard this news, they were beyond excited; this was a huge break for them.
Twilight walked over to hug her girlfriend; she then explained, “That’s wonderful.”
Soarin sighed in disappointment at himself, “Uh, I knew I should have brought that champagne.”
Meanwhile, at the entrance of the park, some uninvited guest were entering the grounds; the people saw the True Humans walk into the park. And when they saw the masked people with guns and weapons, they began screaming and running away.
One of the True Humans was heard saying, “She’s this way.”
Spitfire, who was trying to fix the kart that had just crashed, quickly noticed she was becoming surrounded by the masked thugs. The True Humans aimed their machine guns at her; Spitfire simply put her hands up, she didn’t really want to fight.
Twilight and Applejack, being the ones with Spider-Sense, took notice of the True Humans coming into Friendship Land and going after Spitfire. They showed the rest of the team by pointing at the situation; the Rainbooms all saw what was going down.
“I’ll handle them.” Twilight stated.
“We’ll get the people out.” Sunset explained, the rest of the team followed her in making sure all the people got to safety.
The Spider-Hero quickly ducked behind one of the food stands, and after a quick change, she emerged from the shadows as Spider-Girl. Wasting no time, she ran over to the gang of masked thugs and quickly began taking them down.
Twilight started the fight by grabbing one of the park decorations with her webs and throwing it at one of the criminals. This caught the attention of the rest of them, now the True Humans were attacking Spider-Girl as well.
Wanting to break the tension, Spider-Girl asked, “Tombstone’s goon squad; which super-villain are you going to murder this time.” She punched away one of the thugs and kicked another in the face. “Because that’s just an attraction, you know Mysterio isn’t really here, right?”
She became surrounded by the True Humans; one tried to tackle her to the ground, but Twilight dodged the attack and shot two web-lines onto his back, she then flipped him over and knocked him out. Two other guys grabbed her by her arms, trying to hold her still; but this wasn’t going to work; she kicked both of them in the stomach, disorienting them. Once she had the opening, she used her strength to slam them together before flipping them onto their backs.
Spider-Girl kept cracking jokes while she fought, “You didn’t expect to see me tonight, did you? One night off, that’s all I wanted.”
Twilight wasn’t the only one who was going to have to fight their way out of this, Spitfire watched all the masked thugs draw in closer, but this girl wasn’t going to go quietly. Completely ignoring the terms of her parole, Spitfire rolled up her sleeves, revealing the two metal bracelets she was wearing; she scraped the bracelets together, igniting two fireballs in her hands.
When one thug got too close, Spitfire threw one of the fireballs at him; the small flame blast knocked him back, but he was okay. Two other thugs were carrying strange new weapons, they fired them, shooting two nets at the fire-wielder.
The nets were glowing blue, almost like they were electrified; the nets tied up Spitfire and were starting to weaken her.
Spider-Girl saw this from where she was and shouted, “I’m coming, Pyro!” Twilight jumped forward, only to be greeted by another group of True Humans.
The first guy to attack her got it the worst; Twilight shot two webs at his shoulders and pulled him forward to knee him in the face. When another tried to attack Spider-Girl from behind, the hero slid under her legs and kicked the criminal in the back, sending her away. The last one to try anything was knocked down hard, Spider-Girl upper-cutted them into the air, and as they were coming back down, she swung her leg around and kicked them away.
While still trapped in the electric-net, Spitfire saw Spider-Girl fighting off the thugs that were trying to get at her. Spitfire shouted out, “I never thought I’d see the day, one of you heroes defending me.”
As she fought, Twilight was able to reply, “You and me both; but for some reason, Tombstone and these guys want you dead. He’s already killed Zzzax.”
“Well hurry up and get me out of here then.” Spitfire shouted back.
But suddenly, a black van came speeding in out of nowhere; just as Twilight was about to get Spitfire out of the net, her Spider-Sense warned her to move out of the way. She dodged the speeding van and watched as it crashed into a tower; the tower began to wobble.
Spider-Girl muttered, “Don’t fall, please don’t fall.”
The tower fell over, it was heading right for the rollercoaster; Twilight watched the tower fall into the ride, destroying most of the track. And, as if things weren’t bad enough, the karts were coming, with people inside; the people started panicking as they saw the track was gone, but they had a hero on standby.
Wasting no time, Spider-Girl shot a web-net at the end of the track, halting the kart; the people were able to release themselves and make their way back down the track. But just as the people were getting off, the ride automatically sped the kart up and it broke through the web-net; it flew off the track with people still in it, so Twilight shot the front of it with a web-line, trying to hold it up.
Luckily, the end of the long kart was still on the track, so Twilight webbed the wheels so it couldn’t go any further; however, the front of the kart was dangling over one of the lower tracks, and another kart was coming.
“Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me!” Twilight cried.
She jumped down and landed on the front of the incoming kart, the hero shot out two web-lines to latch onto the track and she pulled with all her strength, halting the kart in place.
Suddenly, the web holding up the other kart snapped, the kart fell; Twilight jumped after it. She webbed the front of the kart again, this time, holding it up herself; but the collapsing tower was still falling, Twilight shot a web-net upwards to stop it, but the tower was too heavy. As the structure came down, Spider-Girl had no choice but to use her other hand and hold it up with her Spider-Strength; but it was too much.
A fire had broken out under the ride, caused by all the damage, the kart was dangling right over the flames; the tower was too heavy, the people were trapped in the kart and Twilight’s web was snapping from the weight.
The people looked at the hero, nothing but fear in their eyes; all Twilight could mutter was, “I’m.... sorry.”
But suddenly, out of nowhere, the tower was being lifted out of the way; Twilight looked to her side and saw Applejack, as Spider-Woman, lifting the tower all on her own.
“AJ, what are you doing?” Spider-Girl questioned.
Spider-Woman replied, “Uh, can’t you tell? I’m saving the day.” The symbiote hero lifted the tower and pushed it away, it safely came crashing down beside the rollercoaster.
Once the tower was no longer a problem, the two Spiders had a crazy idea; they looked at each other and nodded. Twilight, and now with Applejack’s help, used their webs to pull the kart up into the air; they watched it go flying over the rollercoaster, they could hear the people screaming. But just before it hit the ground, they both fired web-nets under it, safely catching it.
After the people were safe, Spider-Girl and Spider-Woman both left the rest to the authorities; they began swinging away from the park.
When the two heroes landed on a rooftop, they both removed their masks, just to take a breath.
“How?” Twilight asked. She then explained, “That tower would have weighed about ten tons; not even me and Adam combined would’ve been able to lift that the way you did.”
Applejack turned to her and replied, “I think, this suit just sensed what I needed to help you.” AJ looked at her suit, the symbiote tendrils slithering around her arms.
Twilight approached with caution, she had to ask, “Are you sure that thing’s not alive?” Twilight reached her hand out to check, but suddenly, four tentacles shot out of Applejack’s back and lunged at Twilight. “Whoa!” she cried.
AJ retracted the tentacles, she replied, “Sorry, Twilight. I guess, its been a year with this suit and I’m still figuring things out.”
The two friends came together again, Twilight explained, “Whatever’s happening, we’ll figure out.” She put her hand on Applejack’s shoulder, “And, thanks for the save back there.”
“Its what friends do.” Applejack replied.
With that said, the two Spider-Heroes thought it best to meet up with the rest of their friends; I think they’ve all had enough excitement for one night.
Running down the street, were three masked robbers; it was the next morning, and a corner store in Canterlot City was being robbed. The masked criminals climbed into the getaway car, just as the cop chasing them was catching up.
Wasting no time, the driver put his foot down and the three criminals sped off down the street.
The police officer that was chasing the criminals had to stop and catch his breath, plus, there was no way he could catch up with them now.
All three of the criminals were laughing and cheering, they’d got away with the biggest robbery of their criminal-career; the bar was pretty low for them. The one driving turned to his two friends to say, “And the best part; no Spiderman to stop us.” That made them laugh even more.
Suddenly, the most unexpected thing just happened; the getaway car stopped right in its tracks, the force knocked the thugs around a bit, that stop came out of nowhere. The criminal driving the car looked out the windscreen, he could see the city ahead was getting lower.
It didn’t take a genius to work out that the city wasn’t getting lower, they were getting higher; something was lifting their car off the ground.
Underneath the car, Iron Heart was using her suit’s strength to lift the car off the ground; once she thought they were high enough, she turned the car upside-down. The criminals inside were even more confused, they couldn’t see what was going on.
Rarity then put the car back onto the ground, they weren’t going anywhere now. The officer that was chasing them was able to catch up when he saw the superhero stop the thieves; he looked up at Iron Heart.
“Iron Heart, you saved the store’s money. And possibly my job.” The cop explained.
Rarity replied, “Think nothing off it sir, all in a day’s work.”
Once that was said, the officer called in the theft to the local police station and waited for other officers to arrive. Seeing she wasn’t needed anymore, the armoured super-hero flew back into the sky.
Whilst flying, Rarity needed to talk with her AI assistant; Rarity asked, “So Coco’, what’s on the engender today?”
Coco Pommel replied, “Well Miss Rarity, today we need to go over all the designs for your latest clothes line, and we may need to hire some extra hands at the boutique.”
Suddenly, static was beginning to form on the screen of her helmet; all of Rarity’s systems were going offline, leaving her floating in the air. Finally, a picture came onto the screen, it showed someone Rarity was wondering when she’d see again.
“Hello, superhero.” Jigsaw stated as his face came onto the screen. “Time for your next DAT, Iron Heart. And I wouldn’t keep this one waiting for too long.” Jigsaw explained. Iron Heart saw on her screen, the image was showing another one of the missing students; they were lying on a circular platform, their wrists and ankles were held down by restraints. The student had green skin like the last one, but it was much lighter, and his hair was a really light purple colour.
Once that image went away, Jigsaw came back onto the screen, “Come to this location, Iron Heart, or Puzzles here will only be half the person he is.”
Iron Heart wasted no time at all, once all of her systems came back online, she was sent the location to her GPS; Rarity shot through the sky like a missile.
It only took her a few minutes to get to the given location; it was an old sawmill, right on the edge of the city. The place looked more run down then anywhere in the whole of Canterlot City; of course this was the evil villain’s lair.
Before the hero went inside, she needed to talk to her AI again, Rarity explained, “Now Coco’, you know what will happen when we go inside.”
Coco Pommel replied, “Most likely, I’ll go offline again.” The AI ran a quick scan of the sawmill. “I’m once again picking up the alloy within the walls of this complex; this material will block my systems. You’ll be on your own in there.”
“I’ll be okay.” Iron Heart replied.
Rarity walked inside the mill, once inside there was a large open room; and in the middle of this room, Puzzles the second missing student, was seen. He was still trapped on the circle platform, struggling to get free from the restraints; he was able to look up and see the superhero who had come to his rescue.
“Iron Heart!” he cried.
When Rarity tried to step forward to help him, her foot landed on a pressure plate; once she set off the mechanism, something fired at her. It happened quite fast, but Iron Heart saw the hole in the floor when the bullet impacted; she looked at the walls, they were equipped with sentry-guns. They were fifty-calibre rounds, they’d cut right through her powered down armour.
On the back wall, a video screen turned on, revealing Jigsaw on the screen. The villain chuckled before explaining the rules of this next test, “Okay Iron Heart, this next DAT will be about Math. My personal favourite subject.”
The floor then lit up with numbers, the floor had a square pattern to it, like a chess board; and each number was placed in each square. Also, the machinery on the ceiling began shifting, before a giant saw blade was lowered down; the blade was angled just above Puzzles.
Jigsaw explained, “We’re going to have double the amount of Puzzles; in one minute, the saw blade will slowly slice Puzzles in half. It might sting a bit.” The villain once again laughed at his own humour. “Unless you can tell me: What is the value of Pi, in its decimal form?”
The saw blade suddenly started spinning, once it was going fast enough, the blade slowly began to lower itself down towards Puzzles.
Puzzles screamed as he saw the blade coming for him, “Help!”
Rarity needed to think quickly, she remembered this Math topic from school; the value of Pi. Once she remembered the answer, Rarity shouted allowed, “3.14!” And after looking at the pressure tiles on the floor again, she worked out what she had to do; she would have to jump from tile to tile, using the ones with the numbers that made up Pi. Iron Heart saw the first tile and jumped for the one that said three.
However, when she stepped on it, the sentry-gun fired at her again; this caused her to jump back. Now Rarity was confused, she had the answer; why was it saying she was wrong? That’s when the hero remembered something that Jigsaw said, ‘we’re going to have double the amount of Puzzles’, she had it.
“Double Pi; Pi times two. 6.28.” Iron Heart announced.
The hero jumped for the tile that said six, then another that said two, and then the one that said eight; this allowed her to move across the room without being shot at. Once she made it to Puzzles, she saw the big red button on the edge of the platform; she pressed the button, and the sawblade started slowing down and lifting back up to the ceiling.
Puzzles let out a huge sigh when he saw the danger go away; after that, the restraints holding him down opened.
Iron Heart helped the student to his feet, “Are you okay, darling?”
“I think I saw my whole life flash before my eyes.” He replied. “It was really boring.” He realised.
Once the test was over, Jigsaw appeared on the screen again; the villain explained, “So you saved another one, big deal. You still have three missing students to find, and I won’t hold back next time. I’ll send you the next location when I’m ready for you, Iron Heart.” With that said, the screen went black.
After he’d gone, Rarity turned back to Puzzles; she needed information, “Can you tell me anything about this person? Why is he doing this?” the hero asked.
“Search me, all I know is this guy is nuts.” Puzzles replied. “He was keeping us all in a metal room somewhere, then one by one we were brought out by that guy who took us off the bus. When I came around, I was here; I don’t know what happened to the others.”
That was all Rarity needed to know, she placed her hand on the students shoulder and explained, “Stay here, I’ll send someone to pick you up.” She then stepped outside the mill; once she had her systems back, she pushed the button on her wrist computer which sent the anonymous message to the police informing them of the found student.
Coco Pommel came back online and asked, “How did it go, Miss Rarity.”
Rarity replied, “This creep is getting more bold, he’ll kill these students if we don’t hurry.” That’s when the hero had an idea, “Coco’, run a search for any former convict or escaped prisoner from Rykers that links to the two found students. I need a name.”
“Right you are, Miss Rarity. I’ll get right on it.” The AI replied.
With that said, Rarity took off into the sky; she wanted to focus on her fashion for the rest of the day, I think this superhero life was becoming too much to handle sometimes.
On the other side of town, was the little house that resembled a farm, with an actual barn out in the back yard. The home of the Apple Family, and one member in particular was having a bit of a day.
Applejack was at home, still getting over the events of last night; she was strong, like really strong. She had never lifted anything like that before, AJ had no idea where that surge of strength actually came from; maybe it was because she saw her friend in trouble?
As the cowgirl lied on her bed, staring up at the ceiling, she began to feel a little sleepy.
She started to dose off, slightly falling asleep....
“Hungry!”
With a sudden shock, Applejack sat up on the back; that little fright woke her right up. “What in the heck was that?” she asked herself.
The next thing she heard was her phone ringing, Applejack picked up her phone to answer; however, she was a bit cautious, as the caller had no ID. But, AJ answered the call.
“Hello.” She answered with.
The caller replied, “I’m looking for Spider-Woman.”
Now Applejack was worried, this person must know something; the Spider-Hero said back, “You found her, how did you get this number?”
“Relax, I just hacked your hero-comm to call you.” The caller replied. “I can hear the worry in your voice, if you’re wondering if I know your secret identity, you can stop sobbing. I did this all the time with Spiderman; he really needs to update his system.”
That explanation suddenly helped Applejack work out who this mystery caller was, “Talon.” She replied.
Talon explained her reason for calling, “Look, I tracked those snow-coat thugs to an abandoned clinic on the north side of the city. I saw how well you handled yourself against them, if we team up, maybe we’ll find their boss.”
“What, so you can leave them to die too?” AJ said back.
“Not unless I have to. Look, this gang needs to be stopped.” Talon explained. “You want to come along, it’ll make things easier. But I don’t need you.”
Once that was said, the call ended, Octavia hanged up the phone; Applejack suddenly had a lot to think about. Did she want to go and help Talon go up against these guys?
AJ said to herself, “Maybe I should go; I could keep an eye on her. And it would be better for everyone if another gang was off the street.” Applejack then concentrated, she generated her suit around her body.
Spider-Woman then opened her bedroom window and jumped from the frame out into the city.
The Spider-Hero had swung all the way across the city to the abandoned clinic that Octavia had told her about; it was the only clinic like this in the north of the city. AJ found a roof entrance, but the door was locked; she didn’t want to break it down yet, she didn’t exactly have a plan.
“Did she go inside already?” Spider-Woman asked. Applejack wandered over to the edge of the roof, she then asked, “How is this going to work; just an ordinary team up?”
And then out of nowhere, Talon wanders over to Applejack, stretching her arms, like she was ready for a fight. For the most part, they both just stared at the city in front of them; one waiting for the other to talk.
Spider-Woman had to say something, “How long you been tracking these guys?”
“A few weeks.” Octavia replied. “Heard rumours for a while.”
“And what’s your connection to them?” AJ then questioned.
“That’s none of your dang business.”
Talon then used her grapple hook to onto the ledge and swing herself inside through one of the open windows; Applejack followed her, using webs to do the same.
Once they were both inside, the first thing they both saw were the two thugs in winter coats; the room they were in was filled with papers and desks, all left here from years of neglect. The two vigilantes decided to make themselves known to the criminals; Applejack web-zipped to one, knocking him out by slamming him into the floor.
Before the other could strike her, Octavia pulled the thug forward with her grapple hook and kicked him into the wall, hard. With them two down, the two of them started looking around the room they were in.
“When we find their boss, how will we know its their boss?” Applejack asked as they moved.
“Iceberg was never a fan of subtlety.” Talon replied.
Iceberg, wealthy tycoon of the city and secretly one of its most powerful crime-bosses; hasn’t been on the grid since the turf war between him, the other crime-lord and Filthy Rich.
Applejack walked over to a desk that was by the back wall, there she saw pictures of every member of Iceberg’s gang. One picture in particular caught her eye, it was the demolition worker from the other day, the one Spider-Woman saved from this gang.
Talon walked over and saw the picture to, “If that guy has any sense, he’s left the state by now. Iceberg doesn’t take to kindly to traitors.”
The two of them kept looking around, the place was still disorganised and messy; these guys clearly haven’t been here for long. Octavia looked up and saw a ventilation entrance; she then pointed out, “Here, we can go this way.”
Spider-Woman web-zipped up and into the vent, Talon grappled up after her; the vent put them in another, larger room, this one filled with Iceberg’s gang members.
“Okay, take out the thugs and keep moving.” Applejack suggested.
“Sounds good.”
Applejack web-zipped across the room to land on one of the support beams that were fitted in above the room; Talon did the same, landing on a different beam. Whilst they were here, AJ wanted to get some answers out of Octavia.
She started with, “So come on, what is your connection to this gang?”
“I told you, its none of your business.” Talon replied.
Octavia then jumped down from where she was and landed directly onto one of the gang members, knocking him out; this caught the attention of the other thugs, and they immediately went to attack. Applejack had no choice but to jump down and help with the fight.
The first crook that tried to attack AJ got something in return; Spider-Woman punched him twice before pushing him back and allowing Talon to whip him in the face with her grapple-cable, knocking him unconscious. Applejack then web-zipped to another and back flip-kicked him to the ground; she then took out two at a time by using a new move she’d learnt. She jumped into the air and symbiote tendrils sprouted out from all over her body, the mass of alien slime then quickly slithered across the floor before grabbing the two gang-members and spitting them up into the air.
Octavia pulled one towards her with her grapple and slammed him into a table, smashing it to pieces and knocking the guy out. And with one quick spin-kick, the last guy went down with ease.
When the fighting was finished, Octavia explained, “No sign of the boss. Lets keep moving.”
However, the thing blocking their path was a large metal door; Applejack took a quick look at the lock, she recognised it from some of her other superhero assignments.
“The door is locked, and it needs a voiced password from a member of the gang.” AJ explained.
Talon replied, “We don’t have time to wait for one of these guys to wake up.”
But then Applejack replied, “We don’t have to.” She then sprouted two symbiote tendrils from her arms and they latched onto the metal door; with a swift motion, AJ was able to pry the door free and snap it in half.
Spider-Woman threw the two pieces away, then brushed off her hands; Talon thought she was showing off, so they just kept moving through the building.
When the two of them made it into the next room, they jumped up to the ceiling support so they wouldn’t be noticed, the room was a large hallway with rooms along the walls; they saw two gang members bringing in a civilian, they opened one of the rooms they had fashioned into cells and threw this person inside.
One of the thugs muttered, “If you run away again, he won’t be so forgiving.”
The other one said, “You’re part of something bigger, the next step in human evolution.”
The thugs then locked the cell and left the person inside; the two vigilantes looked along the corridor and saw all the rooms had been made cells and there was a person in each one.
“Next step in human evolution?” Octavia questioned.
She then grappled to another support beam, the two need to get the drop on these two thugs; Spider-Woman web-zipped one to the ground while Talon kicked the other in the back of the legs and knocked them to the floor.
Applejack then walked to the cell that these two crooks were just at; the Spider-Hero reassured the prisoner, “Don’t worry, Sugarcube. We’re gonna get you out of here.”
The person in the cell replied, “Thank you, the door controls are in the next room.”
Spider-Woman and Talon made their way down the hallway and using a hole in the wall above them, made it into the next room; once again, using the rafters above to not be detected. The room they were in now had a large screen on the back wall, but all that was on it was static; the room was also filled with Iceberg’s thugs, some of which with guns.
There was no more time for subtlety, AJ web-zipped to the crook right underneath the screen and slammed him into the ground; she then punched and kicked the guy next to him before kicking him into the wall. Applejack’s hand then generated a large cluster of symbiote, she slammed the cluster onto the ground and the force knocked most of the thugs away. She even sprouted about six tentacles from her body in order to knocked them down when they tried to get up.
Octavia finished punching her guy, now all the thugs were down.
“See the door controls anywhere?” AJ asked.
“Not sure.” Talon replied.
Suddenly, Applejack felt something; mini-tendrils were sprouting from her suit, like her suit was shifting. The small tendrils started pointing towards something, it was a control box underneath the screen; Applejack pushed a red button on the box, she’d done it.
The two of them turned to see the open door and the cells in the room behind them were now opening. The Spider-Hero commented, "Huh, smart suit.” As the two of them were about to leave, the screen on the wall finally had a picture put on it.
“We really need to stop meeting like this, Octavia.”
Spider-Woman and Talon turned back to the monitor and saw Iceberg, the crime-lord on the screen. “People will think you’re trying to kill me.” He explained.
Octavia approached him, “I know what you took from me. I want it back.” She demanded.
Iceberg chuckled before replying, “Not until the final experiment. And you owe me, since you freed all my guinea-pigs.” The crime-lord then sighed. “Huh, the things it would take for someone to love me.”
“You’re sick, and you know it.” Talon spat.
The crime-lord did nothing but chuckle again, “You want it back so much. The old hospital south of Canterlot Bridge. Stop by anytime.”
With that said, Talon just walked away; when the screen went dark, Applejack followed her.
Once the two of them had gotten all the hostages out, they met back up on the roof of the clinic; Applejack was the first one to say something.
“Please tell me you’re not thinking of going to that old hospital.”
Octavia replied, “You wanted to know what my connection to this gang was. Iceberg has my girlfriend.” AJ was surprised to hear that, Octavia had someone she cared about. “We knew each other back in school and now, we decided to give it a go. But then Iceberg demanded I do jobs for him to pay off my debt."
“What debt?” AJ asked.
“I stole his drive that one time. Every piece of criminal data he had.” Octavia explained. “But when the jobs were done, Iceberg took her in order to even the score. I’ve been tracking them down ever since; this is as close as I’ve gotten.”
Spider-Woman actually felt bad for her; she couldn’t have gone to the police with this, they would have just arrested Octavia for her criminal history. If an innocent life was in danger, the heroes of this city would do what they could to help.
Applejack explained, “We’ll go to this hospital together, and get your girlfriend back.”
Octavia turned to Applejack and replied. “Thanks.” She then explained, “I’ll scout out the area and call you when its save to move in.” After that, Talon shot a grapple line and started swinging away.
There was nothing left to be done here, the police were picking up the thugs and the hostages were save; so Spider-Woman just decided to go home, the work was done for today.
Meanwhile, across the city, Rainbow Dash was waiting at the coffee shop; there was a line and she was right at the back. Not liking things going slow, she let out a small groan in disappointment; she also didn’t like waiting.
As time went past, the line got smaller and smaller, until eventually, it was Rainbow’s turn. She fist-pumped before saying, “Yes.” However, just as she was about to order; something caught her attention.
The sound of police sirens could be heard from the street; Rainbow Dash once again groaned, she carefully said, “What happened to this city?” Rainbow then left the shop, leaving the other people in there confused.
Rainbow Dash ran out to the alley, and when no one was watching, used her speed to quickly spin like a small tornado. When the whirl-wind went away, Rainbow was fully dressed in her suit; red and yellow colour scheme with golden boots, and two bolts of lightning mounted onto the ear pieces. Now dressed for the occasion, the speedster ran for it, after the wailing police cars.
Whilst running, she got onto the comm with Sunset Shimmer, “Hey Sunset, I’m following the police to a Rich Industries plant.” She explained. Their destination was just ahead, and the Dash could already see other police officers battling with an unknown gang. “Any leads on the situation?”
“Rainbow, its the Sable Gang. The gang that work for the crime-boss Silvermane.” Sunset explained. “Police radios are saying Sable Agents are attacking that plant. Officers have already engaged; but with all of Sable’s tech, their out gunned.”
The Dash replied, “Don’t worry. I’ll even the playing field.” With that said, she ran faster towards the plant.
At the plant, cops were ducking behind their cars, the Sable weapons were just too powerful; laser rifles and bullet-proof armour. One guy, who looked twice the size of the others, walked calmly towards the polices’ line of fire; his armour doubled his strength, the thug grabbed a car with his bare hands and shoved it towards the police.
As the officers moved to avoid the collision, Rainbow Dash arrived just in time.
The superhero super-sped to one of the Sable Agents, she began punching and kicking him before one final kick sent him flying into the nearby crates, smashing them to pieces. However, one guy above, on the top of a truck trailer, fired a Sable rocket launcher at the hero; Rainbow was knocked back from the blast, forcing her to the ground. She responded to that attack by running up to the top of that truck and kicking the man off the trailer and into a wall. Then, the big guy wanted a piece of the action; the brute in the armour charged for the Dash, he grabbed her and held her in a bear hug.
Making a joke, Rainbow stated, “Look, I’m flattered. But I’m afraid I’m spoken for.”
Suddenly, a blast of blue energy hit the large guy in the face; this disoriented him, making him let go of Rainbow Dash.
Rainbow’ looked up and saw her husband flying in; Soarin, aka Nova explained, “Yeah, by me.” He then released another blast of blue power at the brute, sending him into a brick wall, smashing said wall to pieces.
As Nova landed safely on the ground, Dash walked over to him; through the small gap in his helmet, Soarin was able to kiss his wife on the forehead.
Without warning, Sable Agents with jetpacks flew into the scene; one guy landed on one of the cop cars. The officer closest to the car tried to back away, but the agent jumped off the hood and grabbed the cop by his collar.
This Sable Agent then turned to the two heroes, showing them his hostage, “Come on then, love-birds. Lets play ‘Save the Pig’.” The agent shouted, before flying up to the roof, and the cop with him.
Rainbow didn’t wait for Soarin, she just ran up the side of the building and after that Sable Agent; but when she got to the top, she was greeted by the other agents with jetpacks.
“Well, hello ambush.” She joked. Dash then started fighting with the agents, running up the large chimneys this plant had and kicking the Sable-goons out of the sky. Rainbow Dash was making jokes the whole time she fought, “Cool jetpacks, where’d you get them? Let me guess, they fell off the back of a truck?” Using both feet, Dash kicked one guy in the stomach before using both feet again to knock him to the ground.
Before she could fall to the roof, Rainbow grabbed hold of one of the other flyers, she spun around him with her legs still around his neck and then kicked him to the ground, via the back of his head.
After the last thug went down, Rainbow Dash saw the one that had the cop in his grasp.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a net was shot at the Sable Agent; he was trapped in a net that stuck him to one of the large chimneys. The officer he was carrying was dropped out of the sky, but luckily Nova flew in and caught him.
Flying into the scene, was a police helicopter; and seen on that helicopter was Captain Gilda Griffon. Gilda pushed a button on the net gun that she had, it released the agent from the net she had just shot and dropped him to the roof of the plant.
When he was down, the police captain jumped onto the roof as well, she wanted to question her suspect. She drew her revolver pistol and aimed it at the agent, “Where’s your boss?” she demanded to know.
Rainbow Dash walked over to them and said, “Captain Griffon, is the gun really necessary?”
Gilda turned to the hero and fired a shot at her, thankfully Rainbow’s speed allowed her to dodge the bullet.
“Tell me everything you know.” Gilda said, still aiming her weapon at the speedster.
Feeling like she had no choice, Rainbow gave her the intel, “Its Silvermane, these guys work for Silvermane.”
“I know that, you berk. Where is he?!” she shouted.
“How the heck should I know? I just got here to deal with the thugs.” Rainbow replied.
Captain Griffon was done with this, she ran towards the hero, looking like she was ready to attack; however, Rainbow grabbed her arm and flipped her over. What the two of them just noticed was the Sable Agent reactivating his jetpack and starting to fly away; Gilda got up off the ground and tried to stop him, but it was too late.
The agent flew away, and Gilda turned back to Rainbow Dash; she cried, “Dang it!”
Gilda waved her arms in the sky, waving down her chopper; the helicopter landed on the roof of the plant, but Dash was trying to get a word in.
“I really think we need to work together on this. I thought you were a good guy.” Rainbow said.
But the police captain just replied, “I’m good at what I do.” Before she closed the chopper door, Gilda finished with, “And that’s get scum off my streets.” The helicopter then flew off again.
Everything happened so fast then; Gilda and the Sable Agents, the way she was acting around them. All Rainbow could ask was, “What just happened?”
Spiderman Equestria's Hero: Back In Action
Fluttershy was looking out her window, just looking out into the city; the only thing that was on her mind was the house that she and Adam looked at the other day. Yes she wanted that house, but her husband was right, they just couldn’t afford it.
But she did have her plan, she was just waiting to see if it worked.
The apartment phone rang, and Fluttershy quickly answered it, “Hello.”
“Hello, my name is High Volt, and I represent the Bank of Canterlot. I have some news that may interest you.” The banker explained. “After a quick finance check, I can safely say that you are eligible for the loan you seek.”
The pink-haired girl was smiling greatly, “Thank you. Thank you ever so much.” She replied.
“My pleasure, miss. Goodbye.”
Fluttershy then hanged up the phone, happier than a kid on Christmas; just as she was putting the phone back, her husband was just waking from his power sleep. Adam looked over and saw Fluttershy with a huge smile on her face.
“What are you grinning about?” He asked.
She turned to him and replied, “I just got off the phone with the bank; we’re eligible for a loan.” Fluttershy then walked over and hugged Adam, “Which means, we’ll have the money to put down the deposit for our house.”
Adam put his arms around Fluttershy to hug her back, “That’s wonderful.”
“I know you weren’t one hundred percent on board with this loan plan, but I really have faith in this.” Fluttershy explained. “We’re going to have a house.”
Suddenly, Adam’s phone started ringing; when he answered, it was Sunset Shimmer, and she had a favour to ask of Adam. More specifically, Spiderman.
20 minutes earlier
Twilight was suited up and swinging through the city, she needed to find the True Humans, and where they were keeping Spitfire. She’d been tuned into the police radio frequencies, but they hadn’t had any calls regarding True Humans or supervillains or anything the Spiders needed worrying about.
But, fate was smiling on Spider-Girl today, because out of the blue, the hero was contacted on her comm system. Sunset was on the line and had some information for her girlfriend, “Hey babe.” The red-haired girl said.
Twilight replied, “Hey Sunset. Everything okay?”
“All is well, because I have some good intel that might be able to help.” Sunset explained. “After hours of listening, we finally have a report on the police channels. Someone reported seeing the same masked people from Friendship Land entering an active steel mill. I’m sending you the address.”
Spider-Girl replied, “Sunset Shimmer, I could kiss you.”
“I’m holding you to that.”
Twilight got the address and swung all the way over to the steel mill; when she eventually got there, the place was crawling with purple-masked gang members. Twilight broke the tension she suddenly felt by saying, “Unless its mask-day at the office, I don’t these guys work here.”
Without being detected, Spider-Girl got closer to see what they were saying. She was able to listen to two of the True Humans chatting while they patrolled, “What is taking them so long?”
“We’re putting in extra precautions. Pyro is turning out to be more trouble than she’s worth.”
The Spider-Hero then came to the conclusion, “This is definitely where they’re keeping Pyro. I need to clear these rooftops and then find a way inside.” Twilight then assessed the situation, there were a dozen gang members; three with snipers and four with machine guns, the rest were unarmed.
Spider-Girl web-zipped to one of the snipers and quietly took him out, with a powerful kick to the face, he was out cold. And then, after summersaulting over a metal beam stretched out between two pillars, Twilight web-zipped to another sniper and kicked him to the ground. However, what Twilight didn’t know, was another True Human was patrolling behind this sniper; the thug was about to notice the Spider-Hero and alert the others, until Twilight threw a web-grenade at him and stuck him to the side of the massive chimney.
There was one sniper left, right on top of the chimney; Twilight crawled to the top and once again web-zipped towards the sniper-thug; unfortunately, her kick was powerful. The crook tumbled off the chimney and began free falling; Twilight was able to catch him with a web-net, but it caught the attention of the rest of the criminals.
Now the real fight began; Spider-Girl took out the first one by grabbing them with both her arms and throwing them into the air, the hero then grabbed this crook with her legs and slammed them onto the ground. The next one to go down was punched and kicked a few times before Twilight web-grabbed a barrel and slammed it onto him.
After that, the rest of them were easy to take down; a few punches and kicks and the gang was down for the count. Once the True Humans were out of the way, Twilight could now focus on getting inside the steel mill.
It was risky, but the massive chimney seemed like the only place that hadn’t been sealed by the gang; so Twilight web-zipped back to the top and then jumped down towards the furnace. However, she latched onto the side wall and was now safely crawling down; when she found a hole in the wall, it took her into what looked like a loading garage.
The room was crawling with True Humans, all of them armed this time. “Should probably do this one quietly.” She whispered to herself.
Using a trick that Adam showed her once, Spider-Girl shot a web-line across the room and created a new vantage point for herself. Twilight creeped along the web towards two True Humans that were standing together; once the time was right, she webbed them both at the same time and tied them together in a web-net.
As she moved through the room, Twilight waited for the right moment to take out each gang-member; webbing them up and dangling them from the web-line.
Until there was only one guy left, no need to be quiet anymore; so Twilight jumped towards the final thug and took him out. She jumped into the air and pulled herself back down with webs, slamming the True Human into the ground.
Suddenly, the double door at the end of the room swung open, revealing the guy in charge of this group; he saw Spider-Girl and was about to attack.
“You guys just can’t make it easy.” Twilight stated, ready to fight again.
That’s when the two of them heard a noise coming from above, the Spider-Hero and the True Human looked up at the ceiling to hear what sounded like the clanging of metal and machine parts smashing together. And then, to everyone’s surprise; Spiderman came crashing through the ceiling, shot a web-line to swing on and swung right into the thug next to Twilight.
The two of them crashed into the wooden crates by the wall, the thug was knocked out, but Adam was just sitting in the mess.
“Nailed it.” He joked whilst rubbing the sore spot on his head.
Twilight ran over to help her friend up, “Adam, what are you doing here?”
Once on his feet, he replied, “Sunset called. She said you could use some back up.” Then, Adam felt like he needed to apologise. “Listen Twilight, about not being there last night. I’m sorry.”
“Its okay Adam. No one is expecting you to do this all the time.” Spider-Girl said back.
But Spiderman commented, “But its my responsibility. I started all this five years ago, so I have to deal with it.”
Suddenly, the huge loading bay door began to open, revealing the next room of the steel plant; unfortunately, the room was also filled with True Humans. Twilight turned to Adam, not mad, just a little annoyed that the element of surprise had gone out the window.
“I was hoping to do this quietly.” Spider-Girl commented as the criminals took notice of the two Spiders.
Adam replied, “Is this my fault?” The True Humans saw the superheroes and charged towards them, ready to attack. “Yeah, my fault.”
Spiderman went left, Spider-Girl went right; they worked together to take out the thugs.
Both Spider-Heroes began punching and kicking the True Humans to the ground, Twilight backflip-kicked one into the air and jumped up after him, now she was punching him in the air. Once he was down, Spider-Girl went for another one; she provided a distraction by jumping over him, allowing Adam to web-grab a box-container and slam it onto the thug, smashing the crate and knocking him out. Seeing how well it was taking them out together, they tried it again; Adam spring-flipped over one and pushed them forward, allowing Twilight to summer-sault in the air and grab the thug with webs, swing them around and slamming them onto the floor.
As they fought, the two heroes caught up on some things, “Spider-Girl, did you here the news? I’m buying a house.”
“No way, the bank approved the loan?” Twilight replied.
Adam said back, “Yep, me and... you know who, are finally going to make a proper life for ourselves.”
“Well that’s great, I’m really happy for you two.”
Spider-Girl web-zipped to one of the higher platforms and began punching and kicking one of the True Humans that had a machine gun; however, they responded by kicking her in the stomach to push her away. Twilight responded to that attack by webbing their feet to the ground, upper-cutting them in the chin while jumping up, and then pulling herself forward with web-lines to slam her foot into the criminal’s face.
Another guy with a gun was aiming his weapon directly at Twilight, but she had help; Spiderman jumped up into the air and pulled the guy off the platform and towards the hero. Adam punched the guy in the face; then as he flew back, the hero web-zipped to him and slammed the guy on to the ground with his feet.
That was the last guy, the two superheroes jumped together to regroup. However, he work wasn’t done yet; another door on the far side of the room swung open and revealed a military jeep driving down the room. Mounted on top of this jeep was a thirty-millimetre machine gun, with a built on flame-thrower; the large gun began firing down the room, Adam and Twilight were just able to dodge its blasts.
The room they were in had large vats of molten steel hanging on the conveyer-belt on the ceiling, along with more higher platforms, the weaponized jeep was in the middle of the lane they created.
Adam stated, “We can’t web that thing up. We need to find another way to shut it down.”
Spiderman once again went left while Twilight went right, more True Humans were on the platforms and needed to be dealt with. One by one, the criminals were punched and kicked to the ground, they were no match for the two Spider-Heroes combined.
As the two of them fought their way across the room, Twilight then shouted, “Spiderman. Get to that back balcony.” She pointed to the platform that was right next to the machine-gun-flamethrower. “I’ve got an idea.”
Spiderman trusted his partner, so he did as instructed. From the balcony, the two could see a vat of steel hanging directly over the jeep; Adam could see where this was going. They both dodged the incoming bullets and made their way up to the mechanism that was holding up the vat, and with all their strength, they pulled out the gears and dropped the vat.
The vat crushed the jeep and destroyed the gun; all of the True Humans had already got clear, so no one was harmed. With the large weapon taken out, the two Spiders took a moment to catch their breath.
“Talk about your basic work out.” Adam joked.
“There’s been nothing basic about us for years.” Twilight replied.
Now they could carry on the search for Pyro, the two Spiders broke down the large door with their strength, revealing what looked like the main boiler room; the core and centre of this plant. When the door came down, the True Humans inside turned to the heroes and began firing their guns at them.
The masked-gang had fashioned the main generator into what looked like a cage, and Spitfire was inside it; the bars were made of solid steel, too strong for her to melt through it with her fire.
As the gang kept firing at the Spiders, they took cover behind some debris; Twilight turned to Adam and asked, “Okay, there she is. What’s the plan?”
“I think we should get her.” Spidey replied.
“That’s not a plan, that’s just saying what you want to do.”
“Seriously, that’s the definition of ‘a plan’.”
More doors opened and more True Humans entered the room, some bringing the flying spider-robots with them. The heroes were completely out numbered now, they really needed a plan.
Twilight turned back to Adam and explained, “I’ll take care of them, you try and break out Spitfire.” She held her fist out to him and asked, “Go team?”
Spidey fist-bumped and replied, “Go team.”
So as Spider-Girl jumped over to start fighting with the criminals, Spiderman jumped over to the cage to try and free the prisoner. Two True Humans tried to intercept Adam, but he responded by webbing one’s foot to trip him up and kicking the other one away; but when the first guy got back up, Adam grabbed him by the throat and slammed him onto the ground.
“I saw that in a wrestling show once.” Spiderman then turned to Pyro and explained, “Don’t worry, I’ll get you out of there.”
However, Spitfire replied, “You can’t. They rigged this whole thing.”
Spidey then looked up to see one of the power-suppliers, it looked like it was feeding energy to the cage to keep it locked. “Then I'll de-rig it.” Adam jumped up to the power-supplier and began punching it, once it was cracked open, he pulled out some wires to shut it down.
Unfortunately, it was a bad move, the entire generator was sparking and catching fire; underneath all the platforms and catwalks, liquid metal was released from the generator and began filling the room with, basically lava.
Adam jumped back down to Spitfire and said, “Oops.”
“What did I just tell you?” Spitfire replied.
“Sorry, I’ve really had a week.”
Over where Twilight was fighting, she could be heard saying, “Could use a hand here.”
Spiderman said to Spitfire, “Be right back.” Before jumping over to help Spider-Girl with the fight.
Twilight slid under one’s legs and kicked them over to Adam, allowing him to kick them away. The two of them kept fighting, trying to deal with this quickly, as the room was filling up; they punched and kicked all they could. Adam web-zipped up to one of the robots and landed on it’s back, using his Spider-Strength he ripped off the spider-legs and kicked the torso to the ground.
“We have to shut down this furnace!” Twilight stated. “If we can overload the reactor with a coolant, it should shut down.”
After the True Humans and robots were dealt with, the two Spiders web-zipped over to the furnace’s control console; Twilight used the computer and her smarts to apply the coolant liquid to the furnace. Unfortunately, they came up with this plan too late; one of the pipes on the wall exploded, cutting off the supply of coolant, and a piece of debris was flung across the room and smashed into Pyro’s cage.
“Are you two trying to kill me?!” Spitfire shouted.
Spiderman replied, “Sorry, that wasn’t the plan.”
Needing a new plan, Twilight quickly thought fast, “Maybe we can weaken the cage somehow.” She commented. Spider-Girl then saw the answer, “There, if we pull out those support beams, it might weaken the structure.”
The Spider-Heroes used their webs to pull out the support beams, that plus the molten metal that was seeping out of the walls, the whole room was coming down.
“Okay, I think that did it.” The two heroes came together and fired two web-lines at the cage’s bars; with all their might, and with Spitfire pushing on the other side, the Spiders were able to pull the bars out and break open the little prison. “Let’s go.” Twilight yelled.
All three of them ran for it, through the doors and over the pools of lava that were forming all over the place. They were dodging falling debris, and explosions coming out of the wall; and with one final explosion, the former supervillain and the two superheroes jumped clear of the flames and escaped the steel plant.
They put some distance between them and the building, when they got round a corner, Spitfire needed a moment. “Hold up.” She said.
Twilight turned to Adam and asked, “Can you see if we were followed?” Adam nodded and web-zipped back to the plant.
After Spitfire caught her breath, she stated, “Only downside to going straight, the game keeps you in shape.”
The Spider-Hero replied, “Glad we got to you in time. Zzzax wasn’t so lucky.”
“Oh please, they couldn’t have off’d me if they tried.” Spitfire explained, punching her fist into her hand. “Beside, I overheard something. They were waiting for Tombstone to do the deed himself.”
Twilight felt like she needed to ask, “Have you got somewhere to go?”
Spitfire replied, “Yeah, I have a boyfriend in Manehatten; I can go there and stay with him. They come for me again, I’ll be ready.” Spitfire offered her hand, Twilight shook it out of mutual respect. “Thanks for the save, Spider-Girl.”
With that said, Spitfire walked away, officially done with this life; for good this time.
Adam then swung back, he explained, “Looks like the gang split before the place came down.” He then said, “We should to.”
The two superheroes then used webs to swing away, not wanting to be here if someone like Captain Gilda showed up; the last thing they needed was the headlines to blame the destruction of a steel mill on them. They landed on a roof top, removed their masks to have a talk.
Spidey started the talk with, “Hey, great job back there.”
“Really, it kind of looked like it was all going wrong.” Twilight replied.
“It was, but then you saw through it and you fixed it. And you saved Spitfire.” Adam explained. “You seem like you’re a natural born leader.”
That last statement took Twilight by surprise, Twilight Sparkle aka Spider-Girl, a leader? “No, come on Adam. You’re just being silly.”
“I’m serious. You handled yourself fine back there. I think you could do it.” Adam tried to convince her. “It’s even looking like you could really.... take my place one day.”
Twilight looked at Adam with confusion, but then realised his point; the two decided to call it for the day, go home and rest before the next big fight happened. The heroes reapplied their masks and swung away.
Meanwhile, sitting in her living room was the city’s well known party girl, Pinkie Pie. Just sitting at home and having a relaxing day, which was rare for someone like her. While she sat on her couch, she grabbed the TV remote to turn on the news.
When she saw the report on the news, she became quite concerned.
The reporter on the TV explained, “I’m standing here at Rykers Prison, where it seems another one of the prison’s most infamous inmates has escaped custody. The suspect is Trixie Lulamoon, aka Mysterio.”
“What?” Pinkie Pie couldn’t believe this, Mysterio had escaped prison, again. She kept watching the TV to get all the details.
As the reporter continued, “According to the guard who was on duty last night, he witnessed what looked like a large green dragon appear out of nowhere and scared him away from the cells. When he returned later with more guards, Mysterio was gone.” The TV screen then showed the security footage that had been released to the public, it showed a large green dragon walking down the cellblock and scaring the guard away.
She’d seen all she needed, Pinkie Pie turned off the TV and ran for her phone, she needed to call her friends. However, she remembered something that slipped that silly little mind of hers; she was a superhero to.
Pinkie concluded, “They’ve all got their own situations. I’ll take the heat off and handle this one myself.” The party girl then ran up to her bedroom, locked the door behind her and went to her draws; she pulled out a detectives cap and put it on.
She even got a prop pipe that blew bubbles out of it; Pinkie then turned to a board with pictures and green string that she had thrown together in the last minute, all the photos were of Trixie or Mysterio or places that she’s been in the past.
“Now if I was an escaped convict named Trixie, where would I go if I had just escaped the clink?” she asked herself. “What do you think, Sargent Gummy?” Pinkie Pie turned to her little gator pet with no teeth; the little creature was wearing a tiny neck tie and had a note pad in its mouth.
The party girl thought about this, for once, she really thought about something; she came up with a few ideas. Pinkie explained, “Well, she’d never be able to get her stuff back from the police lockup. So she’d have to go somewhere that has the same stuff she uses.” She picked up Gummy and placed the gator on her shoulder, hoping to get two sets of eyes on her mystery board.
However, when she turned to see Gummy, she saw one of his eyes drooping in the wrong direction; Pinkie looked at the direction it was going, and gasped with delight. Gummy’s eye was looking right at the poster for Friendship Land that Pinkie Pie had on her bedroom wall, that’s when she solved it.
“Of course, the Mysterium at Friendship Land. Snips and Snails have all of her original gear, and that’s all she needs.” Pinkie took Gummy off her shoulder and held the little gator in front of her face. “Gummy, you’re a genius.” She kissed her pet on the nose, and he responded by unemotionally licking hers.
And now that she knew where to go, it was time for a costume change; she changed into her superhero suit, climbed out her window and stood on her roof as Ms Marvel. Pinkie said to herself, “First solo mission. No pressure.”
And then, using her stretchy arms, Ms Marvel grabbed hold of two chimneys and pulled back; once she’d built up enough momentum, Pinkie Pie shot her self across the city. As she soured through the air, she knew she needed to keep herself up; so the superhero flattened out her body in order to glide like a kite.
Pinkie Pie flew all the way to Friendship Land.
When the party girl arrived at Friendship Land, the park was closed for the day; but that wasn’t going to stop Ms Marvel, she just stretched over the locked gate. Once that was out of the way, Pinkie Pie ran towards the Mysterium.
The park was completely deserted, not even cleaning crews walking the grounds; when the superhero reached the Mysterium, it had a sign out the front that read ‘Closed For Maintenance’.
Pinkie Pie decided to do the polite thing and knock on the door, and to her surprise, the door opened on it’s own. Ms Marvel stepped inside, expecting to find the large open room from the night before; instead, she got something a little different.
It was a corridor, a long walkway that turned around a corner; Pinkie commented, “This wasn’t here before.”
Suddenly, a voice could be heard over the intercom, “Welcome, Ms Marvel.” Pinkie Pie recognised that voice, it was Trixie, she was here. “If you’re looking for Snips and Snails. They’re no longer with us I’m afraid.”
Pinkie knew instantly what that meant, but she didn’t want to believe it. She asked, “You killed them?”
“Don’t act so surprised, you’ve known who you were going to be dealing with.”
“You’ve gone too far this time, Trixie!” Ms Marvel replied.
When Pinkie reached the end of the corridor, a large door opened, revealing the room she was in last night; the room was pitch black, with one light that lit up the centre of the chamber. Only, instead of a computer screen being in the middle of the room, it was a table; and on that table, was a snow globe, a snow globe of Canterlot City.
“What the...?” Pinkie asked as she entered the room. When she walked over to the snow globe on the table, she began to hear the sound of laughter coming from the darkness. Pinkie Pie turned to the direction it was coming from and saw someone emerging; it was Trixie, with her Mysterio attire.
All except for the helmet, which she was holding in her hands. Ms Marvel asked, “Trixie?”
“The name is....” Trixie stated, she finished with, “The name is...” she placed the helmet on her head and it began to glow like a lightbulb. “Mysterio.”
Mysterio’s hands then began to glow with her ‘magic’, she suddenly began growing bigger; with a wave of her magic hands, Pinkie Pie noticed the whole room was growing around her, but she wasn’t growing with it. There was a flash of green light, and Pinkie suddenly found herself inside the snow globe; she looked up to see Mysterio staring at her through the glass.
And then, out of nowhere; another, smaller Mysterio flew past Ms Marvel and was flying around the tiny city. The only way Pinkie could see herself getting out of this was to fight, and the smaller Mysterio seemed like the best place to start.
The superhero jumped from her place and aimed for Mysterio, but the villain moved out of the way, and began firing energy bolts at the hero. Despite her small attention span, Pinkie wanted answers.
“What’s going on? Why are you here? This place was supposed to be for people’s entertainment.” Pinkie Pie stated.
Mysterio replied, “Oh, I find this highly entertaining.”
As Pinkie dodged the blasts, she saw a window to get in close; using her bouncy body, Ms Marvel jumped up to Mysterio and began punching and kicking her. With one final punch from the hero’s giant fist, Mysterio was sent across the city, but the fight wasn’t over yet.
“I spent years of my life behind bars, because people believed my power was too much for the world to handle.” Mysterio explained. “And now, my illusions will be inescapable. You are mine, for all eternity.”
Ms Marvel replied, “You’ve flipped your wig, Trixie. You have to stop this.”
The villain’s hands began glowing, green clouds of smoke began filling the streets; from those clouds, green men with flaming skulls for heads, started charging at the hero.
One of the first things Pinkie did was grab one of the small car props off the fake street and slammed it onto the ground; this knocked back some of the bad guys, but more kept coming. As the hero fought off the minions, flying flaming laughing skulls soared in and smashed themselves into the ground; Pinkie Pie dodged them the best she could, she even grabbed one out of the sky and threw it at the enemies. With a powerful slam onto the ground with her giant fists, the rest of the bad guys were pushed away and exploded into green mist.
“What?!” Mysterio was heard saying. “How are you still alive?!”
The superhero replied, “Come closer and I’ll show you.”
Mysterio could be heard crying in anger, she appeared in the air above Pinkie Pie and flew away through a portal. Ms Marvel jumped in and flattened out her body to glide again, they were now in the normal city, but everything was upside-down; Pinkie focused and flew after Mysterio.
“Why are you doing this, Trixie? I thought you were making progress in prison.” Pinkie stated.
But the villain replied, “This is all about respect! Nobody ever respected Trixie, but people fear Mysterio!"
"This isn’t how you get respect.”
Suddenly, Mysterio opened another portal, leading back into the tiny city; when Pinkie flew through it, the portal spat her back out into the Mysterium chamber. Pinkie once again asked, “What the?” And in the middle of the room, was Trixie; not dressed as Mysterio, but in her prison jumpsuit.
Ms Marvel approached her and asked, “Trixie?”
“Keep fighting. Keep doubting.” Trixie explained. “It is the only way to defeat her.”
Now Pinkie was really confused, she muttered, “Wait, if you’re here, and Mysterio’s out there....”
“How is that happening?! GAH!”
The was another flash of green and purple, Pinkie Pie was back in the tiny snow globe city; Mysterio appeared in the air above her, “Enough of this! I’ll end you myself.”
Pinkie Pie joked, “I did not think this was going to happen today.”
The superhero quickly saw an opening while Mysterio was casting one of her spells; she jumped up to the villain and began punching and kicking, up until Mysterio released a blast of energy, knocking Pinkie away. The villain launched one of the flying skulls at Pinkie Pie, but she grabbed it with her stretched out hand and threw it back at her, causing it to explode.
Ms Marvel once again jumped up to Mysterio and punched and kicked the breath out of her; the finisher was Pinkie upper-cutting the villain and kicking her away, only for the hero to stretch her arm to Mysterio and pull her back, right into Pinkie Pie delivering a powerful double kick to the stomach. Once that happened, Mysterio shattered like glass into green mist.
After that, there was a green flash and the party girl found herself back in the Mysterium chamber. “It’s over.” She stated. Pinkie saw the open door and ran for the hallway, wanting to get out of here.
However, this wasn’t over yet; Pinkie noticed that the more she ran down the corridor, the longer it got. No matter how fast she ran, the hero couldn’t reach the door.
“So you managed to survive.” Mysterio could be heard again, talking on the intercom. “It doesn’t matter. Alive or dead, you will never escape my world.”
Eventually, Pinkie Pie stopped running; she muttered to herself, “Wait. I have to think about this.” Pinkie concentrated, remembering what she had learnt today. She then remembered how she got here, because Gummy’s eye was looking in the opposite direction.
Pinkie Pie turned around to the other direction, and there it was, the door leading out. “Gummy, I love you.” She stated. Ms Marvel opened the door, to see Friendship Land; except it was a little different.
Certain aspects of the park were now on flying islands, and below them was a bottomless abyss.
And hovering in front of the ferris wheel, Mysterio casted a new spell that split her into eight copies of herself. “You can’t leave!” the Mysterio in the middle stated. “I am infinite.”
Ms Marvel jumped over to the island in the middle, where all the ‘Mysterios’ were; she jumped up again and started punching them out of the air. Like before, if Pinkie took out a Mysterio, they would shatter into glass. Pinkie Pie took out each Mysterio with ease, but the villain began muttering things that were helping Pinkie understand what was really going on.
“No, this is not right!”
“Why am I losing power?!”
“Snails, do something!”
Pinkie was using her stretchy arms to pull herself to each Mysterio and shatter them into mist.
When there was only one left, she hovered in front of the ferris wheel, “We can’t let her do this. GIVE ME EVERYTHING!” the villain cried.
Once again using her stretchy arms, Pinkie Pie grabbed hold of somethings nailed down and sling-shot’ed herself towards Mysterio. The hero grabbed the villain with her giant hand and slammed her right into the ferris wheel, the entire illusion came crashing down, the whole world was glitching.
After one final green and purple flash, Pinkie Pie was once again back in the Mysterium chamber.
But what caught her attention, was the muffled voices coming from the back wall; she placed her hand on the surface, it felt hollow. Making her fist go big again, Pinkie punched right through the wall and into the hidden room. What the hero saw shocked her; Snips and Snails, alive. Snails was fiddling with a computer while Snips stood next to him, wearing VR goggles.
“The sim is down. Get it back!” Snips demanded.
“I’m trying.” Snails replied. That was until Pinkie Pie stretched out her arm and crushed the computer screen with her giant hand.
Snips took off his goggles and tried to explain, “Uh, it was Trixie. She made us do this.”
Ms Marvel replied, “Where is she?”
A muffled voice could suddenly be heard from behind the door on the back wall, “Help. I’m in here.”
Snips suddenly tried to run for it, but Pinkie Pie stretched out her arm and grabbed him by his shirt; she then threw him into Snails, knocking them both to the floor. Pinkie then opened the back door, only to find Trixie tied to a chair, in her prison attire.
“I knew you’d find me.” She muttered.
An hour or so later, the police had arrived; and with Ms Marvel’s help, they were able to clear this whole thing out.
Snips and Snails were arrested for breaking a convict out of prison and then kidnapping that convict; as the police walked the now cuffed Snips and Snails to the police car, Pinkie Pie was sitting with Trixie on the steps of the Mysterium.
“I still have a lot of questions.” Ms Marvel stated.
Detective Spear Head then walked out of the Mysterium, holding an USB stick; it had all the evidence they’d need. He approached the two and explained, “This should clear things up.”
He plugged the stick into a laptop he’d brought with him, the USB showed the security footage from inside the Mysterium; Snips and Snails were seen discussing their plan.
“Okay, we have Trixie locked in the server farm. Now we just need to find a way to get the riches people in the city into this attraction.” Snips explained.
Snails replied, “You know the police, and maybe even the Spiders are going to be looking for her.”
“That’s the best bit. Once you’ve hacked your way into the millionaires’ online bank, while they’re enjoying their illusion, we’ll be able to download millions into are pockets.” Snips explained. “And if the cops or heroes decide to come snooping, we’ll hand over Trixie; tell them we caught her doing the hacking. Trixie goes back to prison, we hand over some of the profit as evidence, but keep enough for us to retire in style.”
After that, the recording ended. Trixie commented, “I didn’t think these two were capable of coming up with something like this.” That made Pinkie Pie chuckle a bit.
The hero turned to her and asked, “So, can I tell people Mysterio’s a good guy now.”
However, Trixie’s mood suddenly changed from relieved to kind of angry, “No, you can tell people she’s gone. I’m finished with that name. For good.”
Despite the circumstances, Trixie was still and escaped convict; Spear Head took out his hand cuffs and placed them on Trixie’s wrists, he then walked her over to his police car to take her back to Rykers.
Pinkie Pie watched Trixie get in the car, all she could say was, “Good luck, Trixie.” With her work done, Ms Marvel went home; the sun was just setting on the city and this superhero could use a rest after all this.
As the sun began to set on Canterlot City, Adam was swinging his way to Twilight’s house; he’d asked to meet on her apartment roof. He had an issue that wasn’t a problem, yet; but needed some attention.
When Spiderman landed on the roof, there was Twilight in her normal attire; Adam removed his mask so the two of them could speak. “Any sign of them.” He asked, but Twilight just shook her head.
Earlier that day, Sunset Shimmer and Fluttershy had gone out into town for the day; but an hour ago, they completely went radio-silent. Twilight hadn’t heard from Sunset and Adam hadn’t heard from Fluttershy.
“Where could they be?” Twilight asked.
Suddenly, Adam’s phone started ringing; he took the device out of his pocket from under his suit and checked the caller ID, it was Fluttershy. “That’s her.” He stated before answering, “Hello, sweetheart.”
“Bad news.” Fluttershy replied. “We’ve found something. A van that belongs to the True Humans, it was parked in an alley next to the mall.”
Spidey replied, “And where are you now?” That’s when Adam thought for a second, he didn’t want to believe it, but it really seemed possible. “Please tell me you’re not in the van.”
There was a moment of silence before Fluttershy replied, “I’m sorry honey, it was Sunset’s idea. I think we’re on our way to their hideout.”
“As soon as you get there, text me the location and then get out of sight.” Adam calmly ordered. “I love you, be safe.”
Fluttershy quickly replied, “I will. I love you too.”
When the phone hanged up, Adam turned back to Twilight and explained the situation, “It appears our girls have gotten into some trouble.” After that, Twilight went to change into her suit and the two Spiders waited for the location; this could be their chance to stop this gang for good.
“Was this really a good idea?”
Fluttershy and Sunset Shimmer were hiding in the back of the True Humans’ van, on their way to their base of operation, wherever that was.
Sunset replied, “We were never going to get another shot like this. Plus, we’re part of this super-team too; if we’d have told Adam or Twilight, they would have just told us to go home and chain ourselves to my laptop.” Fluttershy could see she had a point, in terms of action and missions, it did seem like them two were always the ones left at ‘mission control’.
Suddenly, the van stopped; they’d arrived. The two gang members in the front seat got out of the truck to unload the supplies; as one guy walked away, the other went to the back of the van.
“I’ll get the gear.” He said.
The two girls could hear the guy coming, they had to be ready; Fluttershy moved out of the way, and Sunset positioned herself in front of the door. When it sounded like the guy was opening the door, Sunset kicked the door open for him, whacking him with it and knocking the criminal out.
Hearing the commotion, the other True Human ran back over to the van and saw Sunset now; before he could run and tell the others, Sunset ran after him and tackled him to the ground. With one quick punch to his masked face, the guy was knocked out to.
After that incident, Fluttershy looked up to see where they were, it was a zoo; the old abandoned zoo outside the city, across the river. Once they were sure it was clear, Fluttershy took out her phone and texted Adam and Twilight the location.
Sunset however, was already thinking of going to look around, but Fluttershy tried to stop her. “Wait, where are you going?” she asked.
The red-haired girl replied, “I’m going to look around. We need to know what’s here so we can tell our loves; they could be swinging right into a trap.”
Fluttershy could see that Sunset had a point, this whole place could have been rigged; the pink-haired girl agreed and followed closely behind her friend. They were able to get in through a smashed window; however, there was a True Human inside.
Quickly ducking for cover behind a work bench, the two girls hid from the patroller. But it wasn’t for long, when the thug had his back turned, Sunset snuck up behind him and took him out; she grabbed him and held her arm around his neck and her other hand over his mouth, she felt him getting limper as he drifted off to sleep.
Seeing what she just did, Fluttershy asked Sunset, “How did you do that?”
“You pick up a few things dating a superhero.” Sunset replied.
Before the two could leave the room, Fluttershy noticed something on the wall. It was a whiteboard, with photos, drawings and newspaper clippings; they were all about Man-Wolf. The drawings explained his skills and strengths, some even showed weaknesses.
Fluttershy whispered, “Man-Wolf, oh my. They want to kill him too.”
The two girls found the exit to the room, they began sneaking their way through the zoo, listening out for any threat that comes there way. Their little journey consisted of crawling under tables and climbing over crates of supplies, all so the True Humans wouldn’t notice them; this place was crawling with gang members.
However, as they made their way over a plank of wood that crossed a hole in the building’s floor, the plank snapped in half; the two girls fell into another room filled with boxes of guns and weapons. Also, there was a guard in the room, she saw them fall in and aimed her gun in their direction.
The gang member was able to fire a shot, the bullet flew past the girls and unfortunately cut Sunset on the arm; as she quietly screamed in pain, Fluttershy fought back. She rolled across the floor and tripped the thug up with her legs, once the True Human was down, the pink-haired girl kicked the criminal in the face and knocked her out.
Once the threat was out of the way, Fluttershy ran over to make sure her friend was okay. She knelt down to check Sunset’s wound, “Are you okay?” she asked, taking off Sunset’s leather jacket to check her arm.
Sunset replied, “Yeah, it’s just a scratch. The bullet just grazed me.”
Fluttershy then took something out of her pocket she could use for a bandage, it was Adam’s spare glasses wipe. She tied the piece of cloth around the cut on Sunset’s arm, “That should do until we get you to a doctor.” The animal girl explained.
Once the little medical drama was done, Sunset turned to the side and noticed something in the next room. The two girls got up and walked through the door, there they found something quite unnatural.
It was a display case hanging on the wall, inside the case was a set of large red bird wings, they were huge. Beside the case was a work bench, on the bench was papers and documents, all referring to Red Feather.
Red Feather was one of the city’s rich tycoons, but secretly, he was one of the city’s most infamous crime bosses; he called himself the Owl. He was also effected by the energon explosion fives years ago, the energon changed his physical form, making him grow large red owl wings.
Fluttershy began to slightly panic, she muttered to her friend, “Are these....” the two knew all about Owl, from when Filthy Rich kidnapped the other crime-lord in order to steal their turf.
Sunset Shimmer could only reply, “Yes, I think they are.”
While looking through the papers, Sunset found an audio-recorder; wanting answers, she pressed play.
Tombstone’s voice could suddenly be heard, “Another day, another night with nothing but the silence of death. I wasn’t sure I could clip his wings, I was never one for flyers. But no, not even that could save him.”
“He’s dead.” Sunset stated after putting the recorder down.
There was nothing else they could do here, so the girls kept moving through the True Human base.
As the two began to exit the main building and into the large courtyard, they heard a strange but familiar noise; a were-wolf’s howl . The two ducked behind a bench, where they could see a cage in the centre of the courtyard; inside the cage, was Man-Wolf himself.
The wolf-man had a chain tied around his neck, the cage had really thick bars, he wasn’t getting out of there any time soon. Not only that, but True Humans were patrolling everywhere; a lot of them were armed.
“We have to get him out of there.” Fluttershy stated.
But Sunset replied, “What? Are you crazy?”
“If we leave him in there, they’ll kill him.” The pink-haired girl explained. “He may be bad, but he doesn’t deserve this. You remember what Adam told us, it’s not his fault he’s the way he is.”
Sunset agreed to what she was saying, they had to save Man-Wolf; the cage looked like it took a keypad code, the girls just needed to find the code. The two girls suddenly overheard something, something useful.
“Check the codes, make sure you wrote them all down properly.”
One of the True Humans was going towards the reptile house, it sounded like that’s where they’d find the code to the cage; so they waited for the right moment, and snuck their way over to the building.
The two would continue to duck behind cover, in order to avoid being seen by the True Humans, but they kept moving across the courtyard. As they snuck past the thugs, they could hear the conversations the criminals were having.
“I can’t wait for this one. Its been too long since we’ve taken down a beast this mighty.” one of them said.
Another thug said, “They’ll probably put us in the history books. The True Humans, saviours of Canterlot City.”
When the small group of gang-members moved away from the area, the girls got a proper look at the work bench they were next to. Sunset went for a better look at the contents of the bench, the strangest thing she found was a purple and green robot arm.
“Are they... experimenting with Smythe’s tech?” She asked. She was referring to Allister Smythe, aka the Spider Slayer.
Sunset then found another audio-recorder, she played the message and could hear Tombstone again, “This one. Waste of time if you ask me; not even a proper Meta-Human. Maybe his tech will come in handy.”
“This is terrible.” Sunset stated, Smythe was dead too.
Once they saw it was clear, Fluttershy and Sunset made a break for it, right towards the building that they believed the key code was in. Now they were inside, they could see a white board on the back wall; on it were number codes and the items they went to, the girls could see the code for Man-Wolf’s cage. Before they could leave again, Fluttershy noticed something she wanted to see; but it was a bad move.
When she stepped out of her hiding place, a True Human who was in the room instantly noticed her. “Hey you.” He stated. But before he could alert the others to his discovery, Sunset jumped out from her hiding spot and grabbed the thug in her sleeper hold; once the guy was out, the girls were okay again.
Now that the threat had been dealt with, Fluttershy walked over to what she noticed; on another work bench, she found Juggernaut’s helmet, cracked in half.
The pink-haired girl said, “Oh no. He didn’t deserve this.” As well as the helmet on the table, there was also a computer screen with a picture of Bulk Bicep; one with a caption that read ‘DECEASED’. Another recording device was then found next to the helmet, containing another message from this gang’s leader.
“This one was a different story. We lost three good men taking this man down, and what a fight it was. He didn’t fight to win, or for glory; he fought only to survive. And as the life left his eyes, I could still see it; the ambition that he might get back up and kill us all. But no.”
The two girls couldn’t stomach much more of this, all of this killing, it was getting out of hand. They knew what they needed to do, Fluttershy and Sunset had to get to Man-Wolf and free him, before he ended up like the others. Now that they had the code, the girls snuck back across the courtyard to the cage in the centre.
Avoiding the guards, the girls reached the cage; they could see Man-Wolf hiding in the corner, like a scared animal in the wild. After Sunset punched in the code to open the cage door, Fluttershy entered the cage and tried to calm Man-Wolf down, using her knowledge of animals.
“There, there; it’s okay.” She explained. “It’s Jacob, right. We won’t hurt you.”
Some how, the were-wolf suddenly felt calm; but he was confused as to why she was not afraid of him. Man-Wolf remembered this girl from a long time ago, he and Pyro once kidnapped this girl in order to draw out Spiderman. As Fluttershy got closer, the were-wolf carefully moved closer to her; he could suddenly feel her stroking his fur.
“You know this beast?”
Fluttershy and Sunset quickly turned around to see Tombstone standing outside the cage; when Man-Wolf saw him, he growled.
“This ‘person’ is called Jacob. And he didn’t ask for any of this.” Fluttershy stated.
Sunset suddenly went to attack Tombstone, she ran up to him and tried to hit his face; but the villain fought back, he grabbed her arm and threw her to Fluttershy. Watching Tombstone attack these two girls just made Man-Wolf growl more, but he could not get free from the chain around his neck.
Tombstone pulled a knife from his belt, “I wanted this to be a bit more sporting. But if anyone asks, I’ll lie.”
Without warning, a web-line came out of nowhere and grabbed Tombstone’s knife, pulling it from his hand. The criminal turned to see Spiderman and Spider-Girl standing on the other side of the cage bars, having just knocked out two of his gang members.
“Sorry we’re late.” Spidey stated.
Tombstone just put his fingers to his lips and whistled, calling the rest of his gang to the scene. When the rest of the True Humans ran towards the cage, Tombstone just walked past them to get out of the way; he gave an order to his crew, “No freak leaves here alive.”
The two Spider-Heroes jumped in the path between the True Humans and the girls; Twilight turned to them and explained, “Stay inside with Man-Wolf. We’ll handle this.” With that said, the battle began.
Spiderman started by pulling a thug forward with his web and then punching him into the air, he jumped up after him and began punching and kicking him until he was knocked out. Twilight was continuingly webbing up the gang members and then kicking them into each other, some were sticking to the floor, but others were getting back up.
“This gang must have a death wish.” Spider-Girl stated. “First Pyro, now Man-Wolf.”
Adam replied, “Seems like they’re just doing their boss’ dirty work.”
One guy, the two heroes took out at the same time; he charged for Spiderman, but the wall-crawler pulled him forward as he fell onto his back, Adam then kicked the thug away. This allowed Twilight to kick him from behind and send him flying across the courtyard.
Man-Wolf was getting tired of just waiting to be either rescued or killed, so with all of his were-wolf strength, he bit down on the chain that was holding him and was finally able to break it. Now he was free, he pushed past Sunset Shimmer and Fluttershy and escaped the cage.
The True Humans noticed their prisoner was escaping, some of them turned their weapons onto him, but he was too quick. After a few powerful jumps, Man-Wolf escaped; he jumped over the walls of the zoo and got away. There was nothing left for the heroes here, they could come back and deal with the True Humans another time.
Spiderman and Spider-Girl nodded to each other in agreement, they both jumped to where the girls were and grabbed hold of their respective partners; once Fluttershy and Sunset were in their arms, the Spider-Heroes fired web-lines to swing away.
Seeing it was pointless to pursue, the True Humans just let the Spiders go; but their boss was not happy. Tombstone walked amongst his crew, watching the Spider-Heroes swing away; they had cost him his latest kill.
Without warning, something came flying down from the sky; as it landed, Tombstone watched it revert back to it’s humanoid form. Morbius, the Living Vampire approached his partner with an update, “Every thing’s ready. We can move as soon as you say.”
Tombstone chuckled at that statement, he’d been looking forward to this; he replied, “Tomorrow night. We end the Meta-human plague once and for all.”
