It was a sunny afternoon in Ponyville. The birds sang cheerful tunes, and vibrant flowers dotted the landscape. At the train station, Applejack stood with her younger sister, Apple Bloom, as they waved goodbye to a departing train.
"Be safe!" Apple Bloom's weak voice called after the train, her usual enthusiasm dulled by a lingering cough.
Applejack frowned, concern clouding her features. "Now, sugarcube, you need to rest. Let’s get you back home."
"But—but cough the train hasn’t fully left yet!" Apple Bloom protested, her pout as dramatic as ever.
Applejack chuckled softly. "Sorry, but we need to head back. Big Mac's a grown stallion who knows how to take care of himself. You, on the other hoof, need to be in bed."
Apple Bloom sighed but didn’t resist as she climbed onto her sister’s sturdy back. "Fine. But only 'cause Granny’ll be fussin’ if I stay out any longer."
"That's the spirit," Applejack said, adjusting Apple Bloom’s position to make the ride more comfortable. "Granny’s probably already worried enough as it is."
As they strolled back through Ponyville, the warm evening breeze rustling the leaves, Applejack passed Sugarcube Corner. Suddenly, an unmistakably bubbly voice burst through the air.
"APPLEJACK! Hi Applejack! It's been, like, FOREVER since I’ve seen you! I have so many stories to tell, and questions to ask, and—oh my gosh, did you hear about—"
Applejack blinked in surprise as Pinkie Pie bounded up to her, her energy unmatched by anypony else. With a tired but genuine smile, Applejack interrupted the onslaught of chatter. "Pinkie, it’s only been three days. I promise I’ll make time to catch up, but with Big Mac outta town, I’ve got a lot on my plate."
Pinkie Pie deflated slightly, her fluffy mane drooping just a little. "Oh... allll right. But don’t keep me waiting too long, okay? I’ve got so much to share!"
Applejack gave Pinkie a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "I’ll make time soon, Pinkie. Don’t you worry."
Pinkie’s grin returned full force. "Yay! Okay, see you soon!" With that, she zoomed back into Sugarcube Corner.
By the time Applejack returned to Sweet Apple Acres, the sun was dipping below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. She tucked Apple Bloom into bed, smoothing the quilt over her sister with care.
"Night, Apple Bloom. You rest up now, y’hear?"
"Night, sis," Apple Bloom murmured sleepily, her eyes already closing.
Applejack descended the stairs, her hooves feeling heavier with each step. In the kitchen, a daunting sight awaited her: three chore lists pinned to the board—hers, Apple Bloom’s, and Big Mac’s.
Applejack studied them with a sinking feeling. Apple Bloom’s tasks were simple enough, but most of them hadn’t been done since she was a filly. Big Mac’s list, on the other hoof, was full of heavy lifting and fieldwork that would test even Applejack’s strength and endurance.
She let out a long sigh, tipping her hat back as she surveyed the tasks ahead. "Well, if I’m gonna clear all this by Friday to spend time with the girls, I best get started now."
With that, Applejack rolled up her sleeves—figuratively, of course—and set to work, determined as ever to shoulder the responsibilities her family relied on her for.
The first rays of morning light crept through the curtains of Sweet Apple Acres, painting the room in soft hues of orange and gold. Apple Bloom stirred beneath her quilt, her throat scratchy and her head pounding. She still felt miserable, but concern for her sister outweighed her discomfort.
Apple Bloom sat up slowly, wrapping her blanket around her shoulders like a cape. She hadn’t heard Applejack return to her room last night, which was unusual. Curiosity mingled with worry as she shuffled out of bed and down the hallway.
When she reached the kitchen, she froze in the doorway. There, slumped over the table with her face resting on a plate of half-eaten haycakes, was Applejack. Her hat had slid down over her eyes, and her usually neat ponytail was coming undone.
Apple Bloom’s heart sank. She shuffled over and gently shook her sister. "Applejack? Sis, wake up."
"Huh—wha? Who’s there?" Applejack muttered groggily, blinking herself awake.
Apple Bloom frowned, her big eyes filled with concern. "Did you get any sleep last night?"
Applejack stared at her for a moment, as if trying to recall the answer. Finally, she shook her head. "Nope. Too much work to do, and y’know what they say, no rest for the wicked."
Apple Bloom stifled a giggle. "You’re not wicked, but you sure are stubborn. You need sleep, Applejack. Otherwise, you’re gonna burn out!"
Applejack smirked, brushing off the comment. "Burn out? Never heard of her. Listen, sugarcube, I’ll be just fine. I’ve got today’s chores to tackle, and once I finish that... uh, what was I gonna do after that? Oh! Maybe I’ll start tomorrow’s chores. Get a head start, y’know?"
Apple Bloom sighed heavily. She knew better than to argue with Applejack when she was in one of her determined moods. "Why don’t you ask the girls to help? I’m sure they’d be more than happy to pitch in."
Applejack shook her head firmly. "No way, no how. This is my responsibility, and I’ll handle it. Once it’s done, then I’ll do whatever I want—easy as pie."
With that, she grabbed her hat, shoved it back onto her head, and shakily stood up. Apple Bloom winced as she watched her sister sway slightly on her hooves, but Applejack was already heading for the door.
Before she left, Applejack paused and glanced back at Apple Bloom. "Oh, one more thing—I made soup for ya. Drink up, okay? Need you back to your full self soon."
Apple Bloom turned toward the pot simmering on the stove. She ladled some into a bowl and took a sip. It wasn’t bad, but it lacked the usual love and care Applejack put into her cooking. The soup seemed to mirror her sister’s current state: tired, overworked, and stretched thin.
Her brows furrowed as worry gnawed at her. Applejack might be the strongest pony she knew, but even the strongest needed help sometimes. And if Applejack wouldn’t ask for it herself, then it was up to Apple Bloom to make sure she got it.
Determined, Apple Bloom donned her blanket cape again and made her way outside. The crisp morning air stung her lungs, but she didn’t care. She had a plan.
She headed straight for the clubhouse where the Cutie Mark Crusaders held their meetings. Apple Bloom climbed the steps, her steps heavy with exhaustion but her resolve unwavering. Inside, she found her fellow Crusaders, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo, already waiting.
"Apple Bloom!" Sweetie Belle gasped. "What are you doing out of bed? You look terrible!"
"Yeah," Scootaloo added, "you’re supposed to be resting, not running around like this."
Apple Bloom waved off their concerns. "I’m fine, y’all. Well, not really, but that don’t matter right now. We’ve got a bigger problem—Applejack."
The two fillies exchanged worried glances. "What’s wrong with Applejack?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"She’s workin’ herself to the bone," Apple Bloom explained, her voice urgent. "Big Mac’s outta town, and she’s tryin’ to do all the chores by herself. She didn’t sleep a wink last night, and she’s lookin’ worse by the minute. If she keeps this up, she’s gonna collapse!"
Scootaloo jumped to her hooves. "That’s not good! What can we do to help?"
"I think we need to get her some extra hooves," Apple Bloom said. "She won’t ask for help herself, but maybe if we all pitch in, she won’t have a choice."
Sweetie Belle nodded. "That’s a great idea! We can round up Rainbow Dash, Twilight, and the others. They’ll definitely want to help Applejack."
"And while they’re helping, we can take care of the smaller chores around the farm," Scootaloo added. "It’s the least we can do."
Apple Bloom smiled weakly, her heart swelling with gratitude. "Thanks, y’all. I knew I could count on you."
The Crusaders quickly put their plan into action. Sweetie Belle dashed off to find Rarity, who could spread the word to the rest of the group. Scootaloo took to her scooter, racing toward Rainbow Dash’s cloud house. Meanwhile, Apple Bloom stayed behind to organize the tasks they could handle themselves.
Despite her exhaustion and illness, Apple Bloom felt a flicker of hope. Applejack might be too stubborn to admit she needed help, but the ponies who cared about her wouldn’t let her shoulder the burden alone.
By the time the sun climbed high in the sky, Sweet Apple Acres would be filled with friends ready to lend a hoof—and Applejack would finally see that even the strongest ponies need a little support sometimes.

Chapter 3: Unhelping hooves
The day dragged on as Apple Bloom and the Cutie Mark Crusaders worked tirelessly to find help for Applejack. Ponyville, usually so full of willing and friendly faces, seemed uncharacteristically busy. Every pony they approached had some task or obligation that kept them from lending a hoof at Sweet Apple Acres.
"Sorry, Apple Bloom," Roseluck had said, her hooves full of gardening tools. "I’ve got a big order to fill today. You should be resting anyway, dear—you look awful!"
"I'm fine," Apple Bloom had grumbled, stomping off to the next pony.
This pattern repeated itself over and over. Each rejection only fueled Apple Bloom’s frustration. Every time somepony mentioned her needing rest, she scoffed, her determination to help Applejack growing stronger. By midday, the only volunteer they’d managed to recruit was Spike.
As the Crusaders regrouped near the town square, Spike jogged up to meet them, a small basket of gems in tow. "Hey, I’m here to help!"
Scootaloo frowned. "Uh, no offense, Spike, but... you’re kinda small. How much can you really lift?"
Spike crossed his arms indignantly. "I may not be big, but I’ve got claws, and I’m pretty strong for my size! Besides, helping Applejack isn’t just about lifting stuff—sometimes it’s about teamwork!"
Apple Bloom sighed. "Thanks, Spike. I appreciate ya comin’ along. Let’s head back and see if Applejack’ll let us help."
When they reached the orchard, Applejack was bucking apples with a force that seemed almost mechanical. Her movements were slow and sluggish, her kicks lacking their usual precision. A few apples missed the barrels completely, scattering across the ground.
"Applejack!" Apple Bloom called, trotting over with Spike at her side. "We found somepony to help!"
Applejack paused mid-kick, turning to face them. Her mane was disheveled, her hat askew, and her eyes were shadowed by deep bags. She squinted at Spike, then back at Apple Bloom.
"Help? This ain’t help, sugarcube. This is a baby dragon," she said, her tone blunt but weary.
Spike puffed out his chest. "Hey, I might be small, but I can handle a lot more than you think!"
Applejack shook her head, her expression softening slightly. "I appreciate it, Spike, but this here’s my responsibility. I can’t go burdenin’ others with my own problems. I’ll manage, like I always do."
Apple Bloom stomped her hoof. "Sis, you ain’t managing—you’re runnin’ yourself into the ground! Look at you! You’re exhausted, and you’re makin’ mistakes!"
Applejack’s jaw tightened, and she shot her sister a stern look. "I don’t know what’s gotten into you, Apple Bloom, but you need to rest. You’re sick, and it’s clearly the sickness talkin’. The Apple Bloom I know would have full faith in her big sister to get things done." She yawned, the weariness in her voice undermining her words. "Now, you better march yourself back to bed before I make ya."
Apple Bloom clenched her teeth in frustration, her cheeks burning with anger. She wanted to argue, to make Applejack see how ridiculous she was being, but her strength was waning. She felt a sudden wave of dizziness, and her knees wobbled.
Spike quickly stepped forward to steady her. "Maybe Applejack’s right, Apple Bloom. You don’t look so good."
Apple Bloom wanted to protest, but the world was spinning too much for her to muster a coherent argument. She sighed in defeat. "Fine. But this ain’t over, Applejack."
Applejack gave her a small smile, though it was tinged with sadness. "Get some rest, sugarcube. You’ll feel better soon, and we’ll talk then."
Spike walked Apple Bloom back to the house, where she crawled into bed, her mind still racing. She felt like she’d failed, and the thought stung worse than her sore throat.
"I’m sorry for wastin’ your time, Spike," she murmured as she pulled the blanket over herself.
Spike shook his head. "You didn’t waste my time, Apple Bloom. You’re just trying to help your sister. I’ll stick around in case you need anything."
Apple Bloom managed a weak smile before her exhaustion overtook her. As her eyes fluttered shut, her mind filled with dreams of elaborate schemes to save Applejack from herself. In her dreams, Applejack was surrounded by friends, her burden lifted, and her smile as bright as ever.
Meanwhile, outside, Applejack was back at it. The sun was setting, casting long shadows across the orchard, but she didn’t stop. Her kicks were getting weaker, and her movements more sluggish, but she pressed on.
"I can do this," she muttered to herself. "Just a little more, and it’ll all be done."
But even as she spoke the words, doubt crept in. Her muscles ached, her vision blurred, and her usually sharp mind felt foggy. Deep down, she knew Apple Bloom was right—she was pushing herself too hard. But she couldn’t stop now. Not when there was so much left to do.
As the last rays of sunlight disappeared below the horizon, Applejack paused to wipe the sweat from her brow. She leaned against a tree, her breath coming in short gasps. The weight of her responsibilities felt heavier than ever, and for the first time in a long while, she felt truly alone.
When Apple Bloom stirred awake, the room was bathed in soft morning light. She stretched weakly, her limbs still feeling heavy from days of illness. As her eyes adjusted, she noticed Spike slumped in a chair beside her bed, snoring lightly.
“Spike? What are you still doin’ here? Have ya been here all night?” she asked, her voice raspy but filled with surprise.
Spike jolted awake, blinking at her groggily. “Huh? Oh, Apple Bloom! You’re awake! Yeah, I’ve been here... well, actually, it’s been a little longer than just one night.”
Apple Bloom frowned, her brow furrowing. “Longer? How much longer, exactly?”
Spike hesitated before scratching the back of his neck. “Uh, more like three nights. You’ve been out cold since I got here.”
Apple Bloom’s jaw dropped. “Three days ? Oh gosh, oh no! Is Applejack okay? She’s been workin’ herself to the bone while I’ve been lazin’ around sleepin’!”
Spike waved his claws in an attempt to calm her. “She’s okay... I think. She managed to finish all the chores, but this morning she said something about meeting Rainbow Dash to make plans. Twilight told me to keep an eye on you until she gets back, so don’t you worry.”
Apple Bloom tried to sit up, but her muscles ached, and a wave of dizziness washed over her.
“Whoa there,” Spike said, gently pushing her back against the pillow. “You’re still recovering. Stay put, and I’ll find out how Applejack’s doing, okay? I’ll bring you an update soon.”
Apple Bloom sighed, nodding reluctantly. As Spike left the room, she stared at the ceiling, her mind racing with worry.
Applejack trudged along the path leading to Ponyville’s park, where she was set to meet Rainbow Dash. Her legs felt heavy, her hooves dragging through the dirt. Three nights of sleepless work had left her a shadow of her usual self, but she was determined to push through.
Spike’s got Apple Bloom covered, she thought, reassuring herself. This is just a couple hours to catch up with Rainbow. Nothin’ I can’t handle.
When she reached the park, she spotted Rainbow Dash lounging on a bench, her signature sunglasses perched on her nose. The pegasus looked completely at ease, her wings draped lazily over the backrest as she dozed in the warm afternoon sun.
Applejack couldn’t help but smile at the sight. Rainbow Dash always had a way of looking so carefree, like the weight of the world couldn’t touch her. It was... refreshing. Applejack approached quietly and sat down beside her, leaning her head against Rainbow’s shoulder. The warmth and steady rhythm of Rainbow’s breathing were comforting, and Applejack felt her eyes grow heavy.
“Woah, you okay, AJ?” Rainbow’s voice jolted her awake. Applejack blinked, realizing she had nearly fallen asleep.
“Huh? Yeah, I’m fine,” she said quickly, stifling a yawn. “Just... just a little tired, is all.”
Rainbow pushed her sunglasses up, giving Applejack a skeptical look. “A little tired? You look like you’re about to keel over. Maybe we should reschedule this whole thing. You need rest.”
Applejack shot upright, her voice firm despite her fatigue. “No! I mean... no, we ain’t rescheduling. I’ve been lookin’ forward to spendin’ time with ya all week. I’ll be fine, Dash, I promise.”
Rainbow frowned, studying her friend carefully. “Applejack, you work harder than anypony I know, but sometimes you gotta take a break. Seriously, what’s the point of hanging out if you’re just gonna collapse halfway through?”
“I ain’t gonna collapse,” Applejack insisted, though her wobbling posture said otherwise. She managed a weak smile. “I just... really wanted to see ya today.”
Rainbow blinked, her cheeks tinting a faint pink. She leaned back, her gaze softening. “Alright, alright. But if you’re not up for our usual plans, maybe we should just... I dunno, chill here for a bit. No big adventures or competitions. Just us.”
Applejack nodded, her exhaustion finally catching up with her. Without even thinking, she leaned against Rainbow again, her head resting on the pegasus’s shoulder.
“Sounds good to me,” she murmured, her voice barely audible as sleep began to claim her.
Rainbow Dash glanced down at the earth pony beside her, her heart skipping a beat. Applejack looked so vulnerable, so unlike her usual strong and stubborn self. It was a side of her that Rainbow rarely got to see, and for some reason, it made her chest feel tight.
“Hey, uh, AJ?” Rainbow whispered, her voice softer than usual.
There was no response. Applejack had already fallen asleep, her breath steady and peaceful.
Rainbow chuckled quietly, a small smile tugging at her lips. “You really are something else, y’know that?” She adjusted her wing, draping it lightly over Applejack’s back to shield her from the sun.
As they sat there, Rainbow felt her own blush deepen. There was something about this moment—something simple yet intimate—that made her heart race in a way she wasn’t quite ready to admit.
“Guess we’re takin’ a nap,” she muttered, leaning her head back and closing her eyes. “Could be worse, right?”
The two of them sat together in silence, the sounds of the park fading into the background. For now, the world could wait.

Chapter 5: Cause for Concern
Rainbow Dash shifted uneasily on the bench, her gaze flicking between the park’s pathways and the sleeping mare beside her. Applejack’s head was still nestled against her shoulder, her steady breathing soft and rhythmic. On the surface, it seemed peaceful, but Rainbow couldn’t shake the nagging feeling in her chest. AJ had been out for way too long.
Her mind raced. Should she wake her? Let her rest? She’d seen Applejack push herself too hard before, but this was different. She looked utterly drained, and even though Rainbow didn’t want to disturb her, she also didn’t want to risk something being seriously wrong.
As she wrestled with her decision, a familiar purple and green figure appeared in the distance. Spike was heading toward her, and Rainbow’s heart sank. Great timing, she thought sarcastically. Quickly, she shifted Applejack so she was leaning against the bench instead of her shoulder. Slipping her sunglasses back on, Rainbow straightened up, trying to look casual.
Spike approached with a concerned expression. “Hey, Rainbow Dash. Is AJ alright? Apple Bloom’s worried about her, and I promised I’d come back with an update.”
Rainbow forced a grin, though her stomach churned. “Oh, yeah! Totally fine. She’s just, uh... takin’ a power nap. Y’know how hard she works. Right, AJ?”
As if on cue, Applejack let out a loud snore.
Spike crossed his arms, unimpressed. “That doesn’t exactly scream ‘totally fine,’ Dash. If I go back and tell Apple Bloom that Applejack’s okay and it turns out she’s not, you’re gonna have a very upset little filly to answer to.”
Rainbow’s grin faltered, and she tugged at her collar. “Look, she’s just tired, alright? She’s been workin’ nonstop—classic AJ stuff. I’ll keep an eye on her, promise.”
Spike sighed, shaking his head. “Alright, but if you’re wrong...”
“Yeah, yeah, I get it,” Rainbow muttered, gently pushing him in the direction he came from. “Go tell Apple Bloom everything’s fine. I’ll handle this.”
As Spike disappeared down the path, Rainbow let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. She glanced back at Applejack, who was still fast asleep, her hat tipped forward over her eyes.
“Don’t worry, farmer girl,” Rainbow said softly, brushing a strand of hay-colored mane out of AJ’s face. “I’ve got you.”
Despite her words, Rainbow’s mind continued to swirl with doubt. She leaned back against the bench, letting Applejack’s head rest against her shoulder again. If AJ needed rest, then Rainbow was going to make sure she got it, even if it meant staying here all day.
Meanwhile, back at Sweet Apple Acres, Apple Bloom paced restlessly around her room. Every step sent a dull ache through her legs, but she couldn’t sit still. Her worry for Applejack was gnawing at her, and the wait for Spike’s return felt unbearable.
What if something’s really wrong? The thought made her stomach churn. Applejack was always so strong, but even the strongest ponies had their limits. Apple Bloom couldn’t shake the image of her sister working herself to exhaustion, too stubborn to ask for help.
When Spike finally walked through the door, Apple Bloom nearly tripped over herself rushing to greet him.
“Spike! Thank goodness. Is she okay?”
Spike hesitated, his smile a little too forced to be comforting. “Uh, yeah, I think so? Rainbow Dash didn’t seem entirely sure, but she said she’s keeping an eye on AJ.”
Apple Bloom blinked, her brow furrowing. “Rainbow Dash didn’t seem sure?”
Spike rubbed the back of his neck. “Well, she said Applejack was just tired, but you know how Rainbow gets when she’s trying to play it cool.”
Apple Bloom considered this for a moment before nodding. “I trust Rainbow Dash. Scootaloo says she’s got a good head on her shoulders, and I’ve seen it myself. If Rainbow says Applejack’s fine, then I’m sure she is.”
Spike let out a relieved sigh and plopped back into the chair by Apple Bloom’s bed. “That’s good to hear. Now, you should probably get back in bed. You’re still recovering, and the last thing anypony needs is you getting sicker.”
Apple Bloom frowned but reluctantly climbed back into bed. “I still don’t know what was in that pie I ate. Whatever it was, it sure knocked me for a loop. Feels like it’s been eatin’ away at my sanity!”
Spike chuckled. “Well, whatever it was, you’re on the mend now. Just rest up, and leave the worrying to me, okay?”
Apple Bloom nodded, but as she lay back against her pillows, her thoughts drifted to her sister. She trusted Rainbow Dash, sure, but she also knew how stubborn Applejack could be.
Please be okay, AJ, she thought as her eyes fluttered closed.

First five chapters. Thought I might as well publish them and see where it goes. Planning on working on future chapters today. I now they are a little short, but I am able to do lots of them in a short amount of time.
Chapter 6: Eye of the Beholder
Applejack floated in the void, her hooves moving restlessly as she tried to get her bearings. The darkness around her was suffocating, pressing in like a weight she couldn’t push off. There was no light, no sound, only the oppressive silence and the faint rhythm of a heartbeat reverberating in her ears.
She didn’t know where she was, and fear had started to creep in. She remembered falling asleep next to Rainbow Dash, but since then, it had been this—a heavy, disorienting blackness. Every so often, she thought she felt a presence—like Princess Luna trying to reach her through the dreamscape—but each time, it slipped away before she could latch onto it.
Her thoughts were a jumbled mess. She tried to think like Twilight might, to analyze her situation and come up with a plan. But planning wasn’t her strong suit, and exhaustion clouded her usually sharp mind. She tried running, her legs pumping as though she could escape, but no matter how far or fast she ran, the darkness remained.
The comforting heartbeat that had been her only solace vanished suddenly, leaving her feeling colder and more isolated than ever. Panic surged in her chest as she called out into the void. “Rainbow? Granny? Apple Bloom?” Her voice echoed back to her, sounding hollow and small. She stopped running, her legs trembling beneath her.
If only someone were here... she thought desperately. She longed for comfort—for strong, steady arms to hold her, for a soft voice to tell her she wasn’t alone. For the first time in a long while, Applejack allowed herself to feel vulnerable, and a single tear rolled down her cheek.
Meanwhile, Rainbow Dash was growing increasingly uneasy. Nine hours had passed since Applejack had fallen asleep on her shoulder in the park. At first, Rainbow had been content to let her rest, thinking a little nap might do her some good. But now... now she was worried.
“She’s out cold,” Rainbow muttered, glancing at the sleeping mare slumped against her. AJ’s face was pale, her breaths shallow. Something wasn’t right. Rainbow knew it was time to act.
Carefully, Rainbow scooped Applejack up in her hooves, her usual bravado faltering as she looked down at her friend’s slack expression. “You’re always so strong, AJ,” she whispered. “Guess it’s my turn to be the strong one.”
With a powerful beat of her wings, Rainbow took to the sky, heading straight for her cloud home. The journey was quick—her urgency fueling her speed—but it felt like forever. By the time she arrived, her heart was pounding harder than it had during any of her Wonderbolts training sessions.
Rainbow laid Applejack gently on her bed, brushing a strand of golden mane from her face. She looked so fragile lying there, and it sent an unfamiliar ache through Rainbow’s chest. AJ was supposed to be unshakable, the pillar of strength that everypony could lean on. Seeing her like this felt... wrong.

Spike’s expression softened, and he knelt down to her level. “Look, I’ll send a message to Twilight, okay? She’ll know what to do. But you need to rest. Applejack wouldn’t want you making yourself worse.”
Apple Bloom hesitated, her lip quivering as she glanced toward the window. The moonlight cast a pale glow over the orchard, and the sight of the empty fields only made her heart ache more.
After a long moment, she relented, her small body sagging with exhaustion. “Fine,” she muttered, her voice barely above a whisper.
Spike gently scooped her up and carried her back to bed. “I promise I’ll do everything I can to find her,” he said softly, tucking her in.

Back in Rainbow Dash’s home, the day wore on. Rainbow alternated between pacing the room and sitting at Applejack’s side, watching for any sign of movement.

“Hop on,” Rainbow said, crouching low.
Without hesitation, Apple Bloom climbed onto Rainbow’s back, clinging tightly to her mane. Rainbow spread her wings, ready to take off.
Spike jogged outside, waving his claws. “Hey! What’s going on?”
“We’re goin’ to AJ!” Apple Bloom shouted.

Twilight blinked, taking in the scene before her. When she saw Applejack awake and surrounded by her loved ones, she let out a sheepish laugh. “Oh... sorry. Didn’t mean to, uh, interrupt.”
Applejack chuckled weakly, her gaze shifting between her sister, Twilight, and Rainbow Dash. “Looks like I caused quite the fuss, huh?”
Rainbow smiled, the tension in her shoulders finally easing. “You think?”

As Twilight turned to leave, she gave Rainbow Dash a knowing look and a sly wink. “Take care of her, Dash.”
