Goku's Strangest Adventure
Chapter 6
Previous ChapterNext ChapterA few days have passed since Goku's exam and he was helping Twilight, Spike, and Applejack on the farm. Goku had wanted to help knock the apples down, but Applejack insisted she do it all by herself. The three were currently on their way to the holding shed.
"Thanks for helping, you three. I have a bet running with Big Mac: if I can get these apples packed away by lunch time, he has to walk through town wearing one of Granny's girdles." She laughed.
"What happens if you lose the bet?" Goku asked. He was always one for a challenge.
"Let's not talk about that." Spike was currently sifting through the apples, looking for the perfect one. So far, all he's found are apples with worms in them. Spike had just arrived in Ponyville the other day, having forgotten to take the chariot with Twilight and Goku.
"Hurry up, you guys." Spike complained.
"Like you did any work!" Twilight rebuked.
"You guys were taking so long I missed snack time!" Spike finally found the perfect apple and held it out.
"Oh, Spike! That looks delicious!" Before Twilight could take it, the young dragon ate the apple in one bite. "Spike!"
"What?" Spike asked, before his cheeks puffed out and he belched flame. The fire coalesced into a letter, which Spike grabbed in his claws. He opened it and cleared his throat to read it.
"Hear ye, hear ye,
The princess has cordially invited you to the Grand Galloping Gala to be held on the twenty-first (21) day of yada yada yada. To Twiliught Sparkle plus one guest.
Signed,
Princess Celestia"
At this, two tickets were found attached to the letter.
"The Grand Galloping Gala?" Goku asked, confused. Twilight looked at the young Saiyan.
"That's right. You don't know of it. Well, the Grand Galloping Gala is this big event that is held once a year in Canterlot for the elite to meet up. I've heard it's the best place to go if you want to make it big." Twilight explained. *Goku nods, though still looked confused. Applejack took this time to speak up, explaining how she could sell her wares at the event and possibly make so much money she could replace her plow, roof, and Granny Smith's hip.
There was a shout as Rainbow fell on top of the group. "Did somepony say the Grand Galloping Gala? The Wonderbolts perform there every year." After debunking Applejack's accusation of spying, Rainbow went into an explanation of how she would impress the Wonderbolts there. From there, She and Applejack got into an argument over who deserved the ticket more. After Twilight couldn't decide between them, the two got into a hoof-wrestling match. Twilight and her companions left the two to their match and headed to Ponyville proper.
From there, they met each of their friends, who heard or saw the tickets and went into what they would do there, from simply enjoying the party, to interacting with the animals in the garden, to possibly meeting a true love there. It was when Applejack and Rainbow arrived that things devolved into a shouting match between five of the eight, resulting in Goku once again getting their attention so Twilight could speak, allowing her to explain that she needs time to think about everything she learned.
Twilight is later found at a restaurant, pondering over her situation. When the waiter came to take their orders, Spike ordered hay fries and Goku ordered a tomato and cucumber sandwich, and Twilight ordered a daffodil and daisy sandwich. It was when they got their food delivered when the first oddity happened.
"Uh, Madam, are you going to eat in the rain?" The waiter asked.
"What? It's not raining." Twilight said, confused as to why Goku was looking around curiously. When she looked around, she saw it was raining everywhere but on them. Confused further Twilight looked up, and spotted someone had kicked a hole in the clouds. That was when she saw Rainbow, who admitted to doing so for Twilight, despite not doing so for the others. After being properly chastised, Rainbow closed the cloud, not giving her time to eat her sandwich before it got soaked.
Rarity found them next, and led them to her boutique, allowing them to dry. Goku was about to remove his gi, but remembered what happened last time and decided to stay in his wet clothes, even as Twilight got Rarity wet as she shook off. After a conversation where Twilight figured Rarity out, she went to leave and ran into Applejack with a set of wares she was offering. After declining Applejack in frustration, she went to her home, where she found, to her dismay, Fluttershy cleaning it up.
After confirming her fears, she tried to ask her to leave, only to be pulled outside by Pinkie. After being thrown into the air a few times, she finally got her attention, but it was in vain, as Pinkie got everyone in Ponyville interested in the Grand Galloping Gala ticket. After being chased through the town, the mob was broken up by Goku, allowing Twilight to Teleport herself and her companions back to the library, where she had the entire place closed up.
It was there that she was confronted one last time by her friends, where she finally broke down.
"I just can't decide who to choose! Goku's not interested, Spike hates it, and you all keep bugging me!" Twilight cried. This caused the five others to look distinctly uncomfortable, and they each voiced disinterest in the ticket, except Rain bow, who had to be reminded. At this, Twilight got an idea.
"Spike, take a letter." The small dragon pulled out a piece of parchment and a quill. "Dear Princess Celestia,
I appreciate the offer of the Grand Galloping Gala ticket, but I must respectably decline. There simply aren't enough tickets to go around. If my friends can't all go, I won't go either.
Your student,
Twilight Sparkle. You can send it, Spike." The dragon breathes fire on the letter, sending it on its way.
After a congratulatory hug, which Goku joined, Spike puffed his cheeks and gagged, which Applejack mistook for dislike, before the dragon exhaled a great plume of fire, to the pony's surprise. It materialized into a letter, which Twilight grabbed and read. It had six tickets attached, one for each of the girls. Spike maintained his distaste, while secretly wanting to go, too, as the ponies leave. Goku gives Spike a knowing look as he stays behind. Spike releases another gout of flame, which coalesces into a letter.
"And one for Spike and Goku, of course." That was all the letter read, as two tickets were attached. Spike ran out, giddy, until Applejack spotted him, where he quickly schooled his features as the orange mare chuckled.
