Prologue - Twi's Letter

The night was still, all but for a cool breeze which blew over the towns of Equestria, and the slowly drifting clouds. Birds silently roosted in their trees, all the statues in the Royal Sculpture Garden stood deplorably as leaves rustled and blew around them, and  all ponies were settling to sleep through my beautiful night. All ponies except two - us, the princesses.

Slowly, thinking of nothing but the pure hatred I had for the dear, kind, fair JUST Princess Celestia, sarcasm intended, I walked into my sister's room to see if she would even notice me (as far as I knew, she never had) and she didn't - well, not for the first 10 seconds. The ignorant, neglecting mare only actually realized when suddenly a little cloud of green fire swooped in through the window, and I jumped. Then she adressed me .

"Sometimes things aren't as they seem at all, so you have to be open to all your options, just in case that somepony (or some-serpent, as it may be!) turns out to not be what you think it is. Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle." She swapped to her normal voice.

"Well, that was stupid. I hate this part of my job; remind me next time to skip this part of ruling a country." She was one of those looks-nice-but-is-really-evil ponies, I thought, and a plan began to form in my mind, something to teach her a lesson that would last a long time...
