The creature struck Felix from behind, catching him off guard and momentarily winding him. He recovered almost instantly, though the inital impact briefly stunned him. A quick glance summed up his attacker. A rooster's head and a long, scaled tail. Felix felt his mouth go dry.
A Cockatrice.
His heart pounded.
Felix quickly glanced away befoure it could make eye contact. If i look into his eyes, it's all over. Felix remebered. So he Didn't look.
He ran.
Felix shot away from the Cockatrice like a sidewinder missile. the Cockatrice couldn't even regain it's balance before Felix was out of sight. Felix leaped over the roots like hurdles and dodged around and under low hanging branches. His adrenaline was pumping. He was lucky to be so slender, he pondered briefly, as his agility proved to be invaluable. Felix ran. and ran. and ran. Until finally he burst out of the forest's outer walls. he stood in the middle of a small meadow.
It can't be safe yet. It must still be following me.
He continued away for a short while, hoping that the cockatrice gave up chase.
Felix considered his options.
There's no way I'll be able to make it back through the forest. I'm not suicidal. I need to find someone who can help me, though. If there is anyone out here.
Felix quickly glanced at the sky. The pale orange bruising on the horizion dictated night was falling.
I'm exausted after that sprint. I should find somewhere to spend the night. Felix found an apple tree. Not much, but still the best he had. He settled down for the night, letting one final sigh out as sleep enveloped him.
***
Felix awoke to the sound of children playing. Was it all a dream? Was he back home? The sight of the apple tree denied any hope of redemtion from this weird series of events. Then he thought back for a second.
Children.
Playing.
Looks like there are inhabitants after all. He thought to himself. Felix pinpointed the noise to be just over the hill behind the tree. He started getting excited as he scaled the hill. What awaited him?
He pondered everything that might happen. That could happen. He thought of everything. Everything but what did happen.
Three small ponies were running around in the field just over the hill.
Three small ponies that Felix recognized instantly.
A small orange pegasus, a small white unicorn, and a small yellow earth pony.
Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, and Applebloom.
Felix's mind went blank. He was literally frozen in shock. The three were arguing about something that Felix was just out of range of hearing.
I'll have to communticate with them some way or another. What's the worst that could happen? He thought to himself.
Felix started climbing down the other side of the hill when a loud squeal made him freeze in his tracks again.
"Alien!" the three girls shouted in unison.
Just as Twilight Sparkle entered the clearing.
"Oh, Dear..." Felix whispered. He decided to try and talk to them. To tell them that it was just a misunderstanding. Maybe to ask for help?
But Twilight didn't look like she was in a mood to reason. She seemed to be deep in thought.
I don't think that she knows what I am. Felix quickly realized. The three girls ran off. Felix flinched.
Twilight's horn began to glow. She knows all sorts of strange spells. I doubt most are friendly!
