Exorcism

Felix had no idea where to start.
He had just been sent off from Queen Chrysalis into the Everfree Forest, to kill the cockatrice that he encountered not a minute after he entered this strange world. If Celestia didn't trust me before, she certainly won't trust me now. Felix though grimly as he remembered the changeling queen's orders. All he needed to do was find it. The rest would take care of itself.
Right?
He knew that there was no hope of finding him while wandering at random, so he decided to go back to where he started. Great. Now if I could only remember where that was. Felix racked his brain trying to remember the scenery around him when he was first attacked. All he remembered from his sprint was the sound of his heart pounding, wind rushing through his hair, and the many coiled branches that enveloped the path. That really narrows it down. He though frustratedly.
Felix then remembered another inhabitant of the Everfree. Zecora. The mysterious zebra that resided in the Everfree Forest, who spoke in rhymes and, until recently, was a character Felix had hoped to meet. Surely Twilight must have already told Zecora about me. He remembered back when he was in Canterlot. That guard was right, it must make for a hell of a story. Felix mused, trying to take his mind off of the gloomy surroundings. The dagger Chrysalis had gave him seemed to be the only thing that kept him focused on his goal. A changeling queen wouldn't act without reason. If she wanted me dead, she would have killed me already. The only reason I'm doing this is because I want to kill that abomination. Not to show loyalty to her. Felix honestly didn't need anyone else finding out about this mission. He was sure that the ponies already considered him a freak, nevermind a minion of Chrysalis.
A rustling in the bushes startled him out of his thoughts.
It can't be the cockatrice. It's too small...
"Come on, crusaders! I'm sure we'll get our cutie marks in here somewhere!"
Why do the crusaders have to be here? Felix thought irritably. He knew there was no time to hide. The trio had run off screaming before Felix could even draw breath. Oh, great. Judging by their reactions, that had to be a lot more than just previous experience. What rumors have been spread about me? Then something else dawned on him. Those three aren't just going to keep quiet about seeing me. I'm sure news of me infiltrating Canterlot castle has reached these ponies by now. And I'm sure Rainbow will want revenge. Felix looked down at the knife in his hand. I hope I won't have to use this on a pony. Felix considered what to do next. He knew that he would need to travel deeper into the forest. With a heavy sigh, he trudged onwards. First i have to hunt a cockatrice, and now I'm sure that they'll send ponies after me as well. I doubt that my "crimes" will go unpunished. Felix swallowed uneasily. Celestia won't be here... I hope.
"Well, the outcome of this day is sure to be interesting." Felix said to himself.
I'm just overthinking. I really need to stop, before I drive myself to the point of insanity. It was not long before Felix found himself nearing a steep ravine. The cockatrice must live somewhere near here. If Chrysalis wanted me to kill a cockatrice, why didn't she just give me a mirror? Felix knew he had to focus. The cockatrice could show up at any time, and he needed to be ready.
Felix suddenly felt like he was being watched.
It has to be him. I can't look now, it wants me to look. Felix knew that the time had come. The cockatrice was behind him.
Felix waited for it to strike him. To let it's guard down.
When it did, he was ready.
The second Felix felt the cockatrice crash into him, he rolled and took it with him. Just one quick move and It's all over. Felix remembered. With his knife in hand, he kicked the beast off. Felix kept his eyes glued on the serpent's body, careful not to make eye conact. Felix feinted, and the cockatrice lowered its guard. It was only for a second, but it was all the time Felix needed. A quick slash of the knife over the cockatrice's throat was all it took to end the battle. Felix watched as the beast crashed to the ground. He sat down, feeling as if his burden had been eased. The demon that he encountered only two days ago was dead. I'll have to return to Chrysalis now. He watched the sun set over the trees in the distance, marking the start of his third night in Equestria.
As Felix stood up to leave, he didn't notice a certain Rainbow-maned pegasus watching from a cloud above him.
