My Not-So-Little Pony Write-Off
Too Much Loving Care by Pseudonymous Scribblings
4:15. Damn train made him late again. Blasted thing runs day in and day out, yet the crew ponying it can never get their act together. Last week, it was a touching father-daughter goodbye that made them hold the brakes until he had his chance to spill some trite about how he will always be in her heart and jumped on board. This time it was a reunion between two lovers, one who had to be given enough time to decide if she was really going to leave him forever. That was not aided by the fact that they were late arriving to the station as it were. Were they held back before by a cheesy love-at-first-sight story too, or maybe twins separated at birth? Is it too much to ask that they just respect the schedule they themselves make each day for departures and arrivals? This train was run by a load of mushy-brained, heartfelt morons that let any little tear jerking story overlap the important business of any pony not spitting up a tale of grandeur for them to think they were part of.
Those dunderheaded conductors want a real sob story? It's a Friday after payday, he had scheduled off for an hour early to enjoy the evening, and there was a very special buttered sandwich of spiced truffles waiting on him that was most likely turning cold sitting in the kitchen while the waiters awaited him to keep his reservation. He was supposed to be there at 4:10, and yet he was just now strolling down a filthy dirt road in a humble little nopony's town to see just what claim it was this time.
Could fate not pick a better time or date? “There's no excuse for such inconveniences,” the grey-pelted unicorn muttered irritably to himself as he kicked away a loose stone from the dirt path. Now his horseshoes were going to be caked in this mess too, so even if he did miraculously make it to his dinner reservation, they would inevitably turn him away at the door. His black mane that resembled thick quills waved as he shook his head at nothing in particular, left to glance off the path at what appeared to be a cheery little farm in this dead-end village. How quaint, he considered: Maybe this would mean the owners were not intelligent to attempt to pull the wool over his eyes like so many before had tried.
Claims were a tricky business. This one perhaps more so than others he had encountered. Some ponies had this strange idea that insurance was synonymous with the idea of free money, so it never hurt for the company to send out a representative to look into the more peculiar cases that were delivered into the office. What was this one again? A barn had been destroyed by the looks of the claim that he pulled free from his breast pocket to glance over. What caught his interest was when he looked for the cause of the damage, which was not the usuals of fire, flooding or parasprites. No, instead, the proprietor of the estate had only written, "Medicinal" in the given field. His minty-green eyes rolled at the thought of what half-baked tale would be prattled off to him for such a ludicrous cause, but at least he knew what his final verdict on the eligibility of this claim would be. Too bad it had already ruined his evening by this point.
The unicorn paused at the gate that fenced the property away from the main road, glancing over the crude little latch on it and finding that he did not care to touch it. Who knew what kind of filth lingered on that never-washed little lock that stood between him and his unhappy duty? He would simply have to endure, and with a deep breath to steady himself, his hoof struck up in a swift kick to undo the latch and let himself in. Dusting his hooves off on the vest of his suit, he could now see about finding the owner of this estate and getting to the bottom of this entire foolishness.
"Howdy! You must be from the agency?" The full, feminine voice caused his ears to perk and his stature to immediately go stiff with an official and authoritative demeanor. The stallion's brow furrowed into a stern expression, glancing in the direction of the call. Just a run-of-the-mill hick pony, the unicorn thought with his lips down-turned at the sight of the orange mare. She even wore a brown stetson of poor condition; in fact, it looked like it had been sat on and had yet to be repaired from the crushing. "No need t'look so troubled fella. Y'found the right place. Came about the barn, right?"
"Rather astute of you to guess that, Miss," he responded back dryly. Why else would a pony of his standing be visiting such a base place? "I have indeed come to investigate your situation. Where is this barn so I may hurry this along and let you get back to your... obligations?"
"You ain't wasting my time, Mr... never did catch yer name," the pony reminded him with a friendly smile, motioning with her hoof for him to follow along beside her.
"You may call me Indemnity. Don't bother with "Sir" or "Mister" neither. I haven't the time for trivialities."
"Applejack," the blonde-mane mare responded with an increasingly displeased tightening of her lips at his curt introduction. Each sentence that dripped from the self-important stallion's mouth visibly wore away another chunk of her friendly approach. "Suppose you were wondering exactly what happened?"
"I can't say that I take a personal interest, but my employers do because of the extreme nature of the request. You've made this structure sound as though it is totaled by the damage, yet you feel it necessary to joke by-" Indemnity's words soon trailed off into a useless babble of incoherent noise when he rounded the side of the farmhouse alongside her to get his first glance of the so-called barn.
No part of the structure was still standing. Four walls that were warped outwards to a convex shape lied face-down on the ground, splintered at both the tops and at the edges where they once connected with one another. The portal that held the barn door was now bare, and the planking between it and the hayloft above was snapped and gone. What he could only presume had been a roof was nothing more than rubble, having collided with the ground disastrously to be dashed to a near unrecognizable state. Cracked beams and splintered logs that were most likely the rafters and the supports for the modest building were strewn about as though a giant had tossed them in a tantrum. Glass from small windows had erupted into shards and were mostly buried into the ground, along with crushed bales of hay and miscellaneous planking that rested half-submerged into the patches of damp dirt that remained beneath the carnage.
"Eeyup," a red, rural clydesdale stated in response to Indemnity's shocked silence when he was passing by with a set of wooden casks tied to his back. The containers sloshed heavily with his each step, more than once threatening his balance and bringing him perilously close to toppling under their surprising weight.
Eventually summoning back the faculties to pick his own jaw from the ground, Indemnity ran a dusty hoof mindlessly through his spiky mane to ponder the setting. "Well... you have my attention, Applejack. Care to explain this?"
Applejack circled her hoof in the grass, biting her lip uneasily as she glanced over the destruction for herself. "It, uh, it ain't a quick story. You want somethin' to drink? Maybe a glass of milk? I'd suggest gettin' comfortable. If I don't tell you the whole story, you ain't gonna believe how it ends."
The unicorn shook his head, before compulsively reaching between them to snatch the hat off of her head and yank it between his hooves in hopes to straighten and reshape it to a proper form. Once the partially-repaired hat rested upon the bewildered mare's head again, the agent set his rump down with a thud. "I probably won't believe it either way, but I'm duty-bound to hear whatever you want to tell me. Not to mention, I'm quite captivated with what kind of story you can pull from your plot to justify this."
Pushed a bit too far, Applejack scowled as she reached up to adjust the hat and sit down with her own thud. "Fine then, Mr. Fancy Pants. Just sit quiet while I start from the beginnin'."
"Sarcasm is unbecoming of you, madam. Not to mention, I know Mr. Pants. He's a good fellow, if a soft-hearted twit at times. Believe me when I say that you will find few similarities between us."
A yawn squeaked softly from the open mouth of the quiet pegasus, accidentally fogging up the window that shielded her from the nippish air outside. It had been a very peaceful day, with very little ruckus around the little town of Ponyville (which was a welcome change for once). In fact, there had been quite a few peaceful days so far, the yellow pegasus considered as she swiped her cloth over the window yet again. So many peaceful days that she would be honest in saying that the lack of calling from her friends had left her a little lonely. It was simply the time of year, she told herself, and that the chilly evenings did influence ponies to curl up in their homes more than prancing off to visit their associates. At least Fluttershy still had her animal friends around to keep her company.
The most cherished of these caught her eye as she turned from the window to toss her used rag in a hamper. A white rabbit, who all she could see of right then was his two long, pointed ears peeking out over a casually held newsprint that captivated his attention. The long, fluffy feet idly kicked back and forth as he read, pleased by the silence in the home around him now that the birds had retreated to nest and the other critters had gone about their business in preparing their dens for the oncoming winter.
Fluttershy smiled at the sight, relieved to still see him there and hatching an idea that would stem away the lonely feeling that itched at her. Passing by the bookshelf, she pulled free a simple storybook with colorful depictions stored within that popped up at the turn of a page, and the sight of the tale brought a contented, nostalgic sigh from her. "Angel, it's going to get dark soon. Do you want to come lie down with me? I'll read you your favorite story again." Her voice was barely above a whisper, but more than enough to cause the rabbit's ears to flick.
Behind the paper began a brooding little scowl on his pinched face. Again with this nonense? Finally having gotten the peace of a house vacant from the other woodland critters, his bit of personal time was going to have wait even longer just to placate the silly mare? A silent huff left him as he smoldered at the thought of further obligations when all he wished for was one evening to himself. No, not again, he reasoned as he pulled the paper higher and feigned ignornace to her question. It was a stupid story anyways.
"Angel, did you hear me? I wanted to know if you wanted to come curl up for a storytime," Fluttershy tried again with a hopeful approach, glancing over the paper at her darling little companion. The displeased frown she saw was quick to evaporate her anticipated cheer. She watched the rabbit give a single shake of his head to her before fluffing the newspaper in his grasp. The loud and sudden crumple caused the meek pegasus to recoil in startle, dropping the book to the ground. "Oh..." is all she uttered back in response, reaching down to see that the book had fallen on one of its pages and torn a bit of the raised picture. "Maybe a little later then?"
The only sound between the two was the repeated clicking of a nearby clock, counting away the seconds that further irritated the rabbit and disheartened the pony. The answer was very clear, yet the taste of it was difficult for Fluttershy to stomach as she continued to stare defeatedly at the back of the newsprint that separated the two of them. Perhaps she was wrong in thinking that her companion would be a good replacement for company.
The pony resolved that maybe she should just go read the story alone, hoping to be kept warm by the thought of how she and Angel used to enjoy it together. It was not too surprising to her that this had happened, though it was upsetting all the same. It was not the first time, and had been happening with more frequency she realized. Maybe her little bunny just was not so little anymore. The only thing that drew her thoughts away from their dreary topic before the feeling of stinging at her eyes overwhelmed her was the sound of tiny claws scratching at wood nearby. "Do you need something Angel?"
The rabbit turned his head around the armchair to shake it at her, showing that he had not been scratching at anything. It must have been someone else. They both listened closer in the hush that fell, turning their eyes to the floorboards that muffled the sound beneath them.
“It must be someone making a nest in the crawlspace,” Fluttershy told herself as she shuddered when the front door of her home closed behind her. She stood with her eyes squinting in the chilling breeze that hit her face and ruffled her fur on her side. The creature would be much more comfortable in the house, and that thought pushed her to ignore the nipping cold to circle the home and begin easing her way beneath the porch to see if she could locate the desperate creature.
"Hello? Whoever's there, don't be afraid. I wanted to let you know that you can come inside the house. It's a lot warmer in there."
There was no response to her inquiry, which troubled the pegasus and prompted her to crawl deeper beneath the dim space and try again. "You can come out, I don't bite. I just want to help." Then all she heard back was a squeal. It was tiny, barely audible over the gust of wind that passed over when it sounded from deeper in the crawlspace. She almost believed she had imagined it before she heard it again, and then it was followed by many more. Something was squeaking and squealing in response to her, but she could not see it until she grew closer to the source.
They had not even yet opened their eyes. Three tiny balls of hair huddled close together, each barely larger than a mouse. They opened mouths bereft of teeth to call out helplessly in front of her, and their ears stayed crumpled back against their heads. Varying in colors from black, white and orange, the three defenseless kittens sat blind, deaf and shivering beneath her house.
They were cold! That was the only thought that erupted in Fluttershy's mind as she looked around for the mother. Not a single creature stirred aside from the crying kittens. Another glance at the tiny curled newborns made Fluttershy wonder how long it would be before their mother returned, but a following slice of wind beneath her home snuffed out the hope that it would be soon enough. A smile crept onto her face then as she moved closer to pull the kittens with a curl of her legs. Maybe she would not mind if the pony showed the little ones some charity and brought them in on such an unforgiving evening.
The night was no longer going to be such a lonely experience. Though she received no help from the rabbit that finally relished in the evening of freedom the situation granted him, it took her very little time to usher her new guests upstairs to snuggle them together on her bed. Their cries and groans convinced her that perhaps they could do with some security, and she made her bedtime preparations quickly so she could join them.
A sigh squeaked softly from the open mouth of the quiet pegasus, muffled into the comforting cushion of her pillow. The sensation of tiny claws grasping towards the downy-soft layer of hair on her warm stomach brought a tender smile to her lips as she let her eyes close. The hush amongst the kittens had been replaced with the contented snore of one, and she felt another kick idly in its sleep from a dream. The loneliness soon left her, replaced with the bursting sensation of joy pressing in her chest as she knew that the creatures clung to her in unconditional affection as they would their own mother.
"Ow!"
Shock shot through her muscles at the sudden, distressing sensation. The whole bed shook with her convulsion to sit up and look down to see what had just happened, barely able to keep her shaky front legs from collapsing back into the mattress. The answer was the third kitten, still awake against her to have crawled along her stomach to find the familiar placement of her teat, and currently tried to suckle uselessly from her.
Concern suddenly hit the pegasus as she reached down to gently pull the kitten from her sensitive nub. Perhaps the kittens' unconditional affection was too much like that for their own mother?
"Mac! Granny told you not to do that while ponies are trying to get some dang sleep in this house! That you bangin' about in there?"
"Eenope!"
The displeased groan of a waking mare rumbled in the dark bedroom lit only by the sparse moonlight glinting in through the window. The bright green hues of her eyes were still half-hidden beneath the heavy lids, perturbedly waiting for another repeat of the noise that woke her.
Knocking.
The staccato banging had by now become desperate, whomever was waiting to be answered increasing the frequency and strength of their strikes on the abused front door. Applejack's blanket remained pulled up to her neck for many minutes in hope that she would be able to simply get back to sleep, but the solicitor was too determined to have her attention. Dagnabbit.
Struggling to get out of bed was made difficult for the pony as she felt her muscles ache with stiffness from the work they had endured the day before. Swears and unpleasantries continued to escape her during the blind fumble through the darkness to locate her hat and stagger towards the hallway. The trip to the stairs was impeded with a single pained yowl that rang into the house and startled the others awake, Applejack sitting to coddle her hoof under one leg and look for what harmed her. A single building block with sharp edges and some raised pegs on it sat disarmingly in the center of the hallway, for no better reason than to injure some unlucky adult passing through in the dead of night.
"Told her once, I've told her a thousand times to pick up these toys. Smokes, that hurts," Applejack muttered to herself as she ambled down the stairs carefully to avoid harming herself anymore for the sake of the unwelcome solicitor. As soon as her hooves touched the bottom floor, the banging at the door started once again with mighty strikes. "Hold yer horses! I'm comin' already!"
The orange pony was ready to bark out an impolite sneer as soon as she swung open the door, but what she found beyond it shocked her to silence. The yellow pegasus gasped for breath, coddling her hooves beneath her and looking up with worry in her features towards her friend. "Fluttershy?" Applejack asked with surprise, "What the hay are you doin' here? It's the middle of the night."
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, but I couldn't wait," Fluttershy hurriedly panted back, "I really need your help." She waited for the farmpony to rub her eyes and give a small yawn before she explained. "I need to feed some baby kittens right now, but I'm out of milk."
There was a delay from Applejack as she slowly grasped what predicament the pegasus was in, until finally she shook her head with a grunt. "You can't just give 'em regular old milk, Sugarcube. That'll make 'em sick."
Fluttershy pondered for a moment, brows turned down for intense thought. "What about Winona? Maybe I can just borrow her, and she can help me-"
"Uh... she ain't really producing right now, not to mention that she ain't a cat," the pony in the doorway interjected. Her side hit the door frame, resting as she mulled over the situation briefly.
"Please! Anything! I don't know what to do! The mother's been gone for so long, and they're going to starve if I don't help them! I don't know when... if she'll be coming back!"
"Calm down!" Applejack ordered. "Yer not thinkin' straight, hun. Jus' take a deep breath an' listen. I had to feed Winona on a bottle when she was little too. I know a formula that you can give 'em 'til their momma comes back. I'll write it down for ya, just give me a second."
"Thank you, thank you!" the pegasus repeated joyfully outside, her wings ecstatically fluttering at her sides. Her hooves stamped gently on the ground in anxiety for the entire wait for Applejack to return to the door with a scrawled note and a glass bottle of milk for the recipe. Fluttershy immediately wrapped her legs around the offerings, hurriedly offering another thanks as she turned about to flutter as fast as her wings would take her back to her home.
"Y'all gonna need to condense that milk for the recipe first!" the broad mare in the doorway called after her, making the pegasus halt in her flight. When she continued to hover there without an answer, the mare shouted again. "You don't know how to do that, do ya?" She could barely make out the sight of Fluttershy shaking her head back in answer. "Almighty, this is gonna be a long night," she groaned to herself as she motioned the pegasus back one more time.
The following days for Fluttershy were troublesome to say the least. It started with the complications of learning to properly prepare the mixture and to avoid scorching it. Then there was the disappointment of finding out that all of her hard work would be of little use, as the young guests did not take well to her efforts. She could barely get them to latch to the bottle most of the time, and it caused increasing amounts of worry as time continued by with them drinking less. Yet throughout their unhappiness with the bottle, they still sated their fixations by interrupting her in her sleep. She had begun to lose count of the times she would wake from a comfortable slumber with her adorable kittens snuggled close with a startled gasp because her teats were tugged by the wanting youths.
Yet still the crawlspace and her property remained uncomfortably bare of the presence of a mother to take them back. What was she going to do for them? If things did not improve soon, she was certain that the worst would befall the little ones, and such thoughts terrorized the pegasus. If only there was a way she could help them. If only she could think of a way to be a better surrogate for them.
Fluttershy had many times considered asking Twilight for help, but she resolved that such would do her no good. With the disaster that happened in the autumn involving Pinkie and the enchanted Everlasting Apple Cider, Twilight had become very stingy with her magic as of late. Asking for something like this would only get her laughed at, and she would just call Fluttershy silly and tell her to use more formula. The formula just was not working! Hopelessness had nearly overcome the quiet pony, knowing that nopony in Ponyville would understand the situation.
Nopony in Ponyville? Now that was an idea.
It was the only thought the pegasus could grasp to for hope now, and it was the only avenue she could take to assure she had done everything she could for the orphaned litter. Preparing for the journey hastily, she set off into the depths of the nearby Everfree Forest to make her last desperate plea of assistance.
The large, warped tree was easily recognizable when it came into view. The unsettling feelings were very familiar to the pegasus when she glanced over the dark exterior, and could barely make out the sight of a fierce wooden mask staring threateningly back at her through the dim light in the window. A steady column of thin smoke rose from a vent in the top of the structure, and spread the strong scent of foreign spices and herbs throughout the surroundings. The area was uncomfortably silent, with all of the usual creatures having receded from the cold.
"There's no reason to be afraid," Fluttershy comforted herself as she approached the crude wooden door. It was a lie however, for she knew of many things to be afraid of now, not the least of which was fear that her request would be met with ridicule. Her hoof quivered in the air for a hesitant pause, before it struck the door meekly twice.
"Let me just wrap up this chore, then I'll come answer the door!" The answer to her knock brought the quiet pony's ears back into a fold against her head. There was still time to turn back, if she could just get her legs or wings to cooperate. They held fast through her hesitation though, and the few minutes grinded away uncomfortably as the pegasus waited for the door to open. "Now who comes to visit me this eve?" asked the black-and-white striped pony with the peculiarly-shaped eyes that answered the knocking. "So it's you, well I'd never believe." A graceful smile rested on the calm, foreign features before the pegasus, the zebra musing at the peculiar sight of the shy pegasus this far into the Everfree alone.
"Yes ma'am, Zecora," Fluttershy responded with her gaze quickly turned to the ground, "I hope you weren't too busy with something important."
"Not at all, I'd love a guest. Come inside, take a rest," Zecora rhymed lyrically with a wide swing of the door, moving aside to make room.
"Uhm, I really can't stay very long. I have a... I have a responsibility I need to get back to quickly. Please, I just needed to ask if you could help me with something." A yellow hoof began to swirl over the packed dirt below her as she fidgeted, only glancing up occasionally to watch the zebra's expression. "I hate to be impolite, but I just know nopony else to ask."
The uplifting smile on Zecora receded to a curious, neutral glance over the troubled pegasus, motioning once more for her to step in. "I understand, no need to fear my scold. Though come inside, the weather's cold." A creak sounded as the door slowly glided to a shut behind their entrance, both stepping closer to the fire with a bubbling pot set above it. "Feel free to tell me what you need. You sound most troubled indeed. I've fixed many a quandary or ail that made ponies achy and frail, and never made claim that brought them shame. Get comfortable and take a seat, there is no need to be discrete." She took her seat near the pot to take grasp of a large wooden spoon to begin stirring it idly while she listened.
Fluttershy shuddered once as the cold from outside left her, the sudden heat of the fire shocking her senses. The idea of sitting down with the zebra did not appeal to her, preferring instead to turn her gaze away so she could pace near the door. "Well... okay. I need help with some kittens." She gave a long pause to consider her words. "Their mother hasn't come back for a long time now, and I don't know how I'm going to keep them fed at this rate."
Zecora stopped stirring the pot with the spoon still held in her mouth, turning her glance up to stare at the pegasus. Her expression remained neutral, waiting, without any words to await her continuing thoughts.
Clearing her throat, Fluttershy forced herself to talk through the wordlessness. "Applejack already told me to bottle feed them with a special formula she taught me, but it just isn't working. They don't seem to like the bottle at all, and they're getting really thin. I just don't know if I can think of a different way to make sure they get fed." Still the sights of the zebra locked on her, refusing to answer beyond a single raise of a brow and a strange, sly tug of her lip into a smirk. What was she still waiting for, Fluttershy asked silently to herself through the trembling in her legs. "Maybe that's not entirely true," she coughed out nervously, "I had thought of one way, it just doesn't seem possible."
"It may relieve you to say you're wrong." Zecora let the spoon rest against the side of the pot, giving another glance over the pegasus. "The normal way, however, takes rather long."
"The normal way for what?" Fluttershy feigned as she glanced away with her head lowered, overwhelmed by the sensation of burning in her cheeks and the heat from her nose as it must have turned shades darker.
Giving a knowing shake of her head, the zebra moved from the pot to begin searching through a cabinet on the far side of the hut. Past the striped body, all Fluttershy could make sight of were glass jars, yet their contents spanned from leafy greens to wriggling masses and some even looked to be fluids that flowed all on their own. "You're like a book left open wide when there are things you wish to hide," Zecora began over the sound of jars and bags being shuffled about and rearranged before her, "Like every pony, you're scared to have your laundry aired. I promise, though, I'll be discreet..." With a bottle in grasp filled with simple, unassuming bundles of leaves and some attached seed-bearing pods, Zecora approached the pot to set the jar on its edge. "... that you wish to share with them your teat."
Fluttershy found herself captivated by the sight of the jar, pondering what might just be special about the common-looking plants. "I must sound so silly to you right now," is all she could utter through her tight throat, tail folding around her hooves as she sat.
"You're quite a doll, I honestly do not think that at all. When seeing their family incomplete, your willingness to help... is heartwarmingly sweet." Zecora began to stare at Fluttershy intensely, scrutinizing her shape. The gaze lingered uncomfortably down to the pegasus' lower stomach, thoughtfully chewing on the inside of her cheek as she considered. At last she simply shrugged, taking the jar in grasp again to take it to her guest and hold it out generously. "Knowing what you want, then this is what you seek. Just... don't be surprised if you slosh and leak," she offered with a humored wink. "A frame so neat and petite will be hard to diagnose. I think a single pod and leafy quad will be one dose."
Fluttershy's sights exchanged many times between the warming and tender smile of the mare before her, and the delightful jar of promise that was held out to her. When the shock of the conversation having been so simple faded, she meekly accepted the container with only the stunned question, "What is this?"
"I think you know well enough what is the point of that stuff," laughed the zebra heartily. "It's used most often by wet nurses and den mothers, when there are many orphaned children of others. When there are just too many mouths for one to feed, this little plant helps them complete the deed. Just take a single dose each day..." A cough escaped her as she appeared to struggle with her thought, beginning to look around frantically as a drop of sweat even beaded at her head from the mild panic at her own silence. "... Then your feed bags are sure to sway!" Zecora bit her lower lip, tasting the words unhappily and shaking her head to dismiss the meek pony's small "Oh my..." at the outburst. "Perhaps there's somewhere else for you to be. I doubt your duties are here with me."
"Oh my gosh, you're right! Thank you so much, ma'am!" That was all she had time to say before her hooves broke into a full gallop to the door and back through the haunting chill of the Everfree forest. With all due haste, she rushed back with new fire and a bright, beaming grin at the knowledge that she could finally be what the poor little kittens needed her to be.
As for Zecora, when the door finally came to a slow shut, she flopped down near the pot with a groan of exhaustion. "It gets harder each and every time one of those ponies shows up." Through her complaint, her hoof slipped beneath a nearby pillow to pull free a thick, hardcover book labeled as a rhyming dictionary to begin perusing its pages irritably. "Feed bags sway? "Just one dose a day..."
That thought burned in her skull as she stared into the clear glass of the opened jar. Fluttershy's breath had paused in thinking that this would be the moment that she summoned the courage to reach her mouth into the container and bravely take that gulp of medicine, but it led only to a long exhale when she could hold it no longer through her hesitation. What if ti hurt? What would she look like after it? A long look over her current physique comforted her, seeing the sleek shape of her abdomen. The petit curve of her sides led into the wide berth of her haunches, and the smoothness of her underbelly was interrupted only when it encountered the tiny, nearly unnoticeable slopes of her mammaries hidden neatly between her thighs. The thought of her shape had never been a point of vain for her, but the thought of the small slopes being swollen and full between her legs was discomforting. Would they get in the way? Just how big did they get on the use of this wonder-plant? The questions were staggering, and shook her resolve to make her afraid of even looking at the jar anymore.
Except that the cry of the kittens laying on the bed only a foot or two away twinged her heart, and brought a determined furrow of her brow back. They needed it, she reminded herself. Aside, what was the worst that could honestly happen? This would all be temporary.
Or would it be?
That thought came moments too late, as her nose was already buried into the jar to take a munch at the surface layer of the leaves, and catching a single pod between her teeth to pull back with her. Fighting the urge to spit it out, she crunched down on it with a single mash of her teeth, screwing her eyes shut for whatever burning and pain might come from it. The taste however was quite pleasant, reminiscent of a freshly shelled pecan. The leaves themselves were mostly tasteless, but quite slick and easy to swallow after a short chew. Heaving for breaths after the will it took to force down the ominous herb, Fluttershy looked to the nearby kittens with a tender coo. She pulled them close to her chest and snuggled them close together, rubbing her cheek against theirs affectionately to offer and take comfort as she waited. Perhaps they were excited as she was to see the boon of this plant.
What a disappointment that awaited her however. An hour passed, and not a single twinge, sting or pressure of any kind. The small bumps between her legs remained the size they had always been under her watchful eye. No amount of caressing, massaging and stroking would coax the effect she had hoped for. The glint of chance she had was quickly fading away, and the jar still sat open on the floor beside the bed to mock her failure. The sight of it brought a frown to her face. She had not come this far to just give up them. Her neck craned over the side of the bed to dip her snout back into the container, taking another layer of leaves and another pod to crush in her mouth. The herb must need a kickstart at first, she thought to herself. If it had not done anything yet, not like more could do any worse.
The pegasus eventually drifted off into a sad sleep as she waited. Watching intently to her teats in hopes to soon feel them change or to see them alter in any way, the waiting had become long and the sensation of the warm balls of fuzz curled around her front legs and to her neck had soothed her. The sound of tiny purrs and snores had lulled her until her eyelid grew heavy and the subtle calling of her close pillow overwhelmed her senses. The worried stretch of time since she had been taking care of the orphans had strained her, and a comforted sleep with the sounds of contentment and the reassurance that she had done all she could lifted a weighty burden of guilt from her dreary shoulders. A night of uninterrupted sleep would be nice for a change.
"Ow!"
When she had gone to lift her back hoof to scratch, an agonizing pinch shook her awake with a gasp. Her inhale was too early however, and she could not draw in anymore air for a second gasp when her sights beheld just what pained her, as well as what caused one of the kittens to howl in displeasure at her sudden shifting. Her leg had caught itself on one of two gloriously rounded orbs situated in the slightly overburdened space between her thighs. Each one was decorated with a small but pronounced pink nub, one of which currently hid in the mouth of a contented kitten. The two masses jiggled merrily before her eyes, mostly from the machinations of a second complaining kitten that had gotten caught between them and struggled desperately to free its head from the motherly vice. Their every shift was accompanied by a muffled sloshing that she could barely make out with her sensitive ears, and a warmth radiated from them that she could swear she almost felt against her own face from even that far away.
Just how big had they gotten? From first glance, she could only guess them to be the size of ripe melons, but what kinds she could not decide. Fluttershy cautiously brought her hooves close to the moving piles, gently taking one between her hooves to lift it for the kitten to escape her heavy cleavage. The sensation of grasping her new breast nearly brought a moan from her, only stifled by a bite of her lower lip as she caught herself and coped with the strange new sensation. Happily she found it was not pain or discomfort, but that she only felt a fullness that warmed her entire body, and when they were pleasingly sensitive to being touched with a coddling hoof. After setting it back down, she beamed giddily with new joy at the sight of them, and nuzzled her nose against the one kitten still lovingly cuddled to her neck while her hoof trailed to stroke the ears of the one sating its hunger from her.
Maybe she was cut out to be the surrogate afterall. At least the little ones would know the comforts that they had missed for the days of their parent's absence, and the loneliness of the season had completely melted from Fluttershy's mind. It had not left her home however.
Cleaning, feeding, sleeping, playing; a seemingly endless cycle of duties became the focus of the pegasus’ daily life. Every time one activity was completed for the three younglings, the need for the next came up soon after to continue occupying her time. The labor was done happily, as never once did she hesitate to fulfil their schedule. Every morning began with her obedient dosage from the jar she kept sealed in the pantry, and every night ended with a warm bath for herself before going to resume her obligation.
Walking about had certainly been a challenge at first, and became increasingly difficult with each day that she forced down another dosage of the herb. At start, her assets had nestled tightly between her legs and rubbed together uncomfortably with each step as they fought for space, bulging out around the front of her thighs with their hefty load. That was a time that Fluttershy soon missed when a few doses later, that size was left behind. The kittens, though feeding heartily, could not take down the sheer volume in which she had produced each day. Perhaps that was why each morning succeeded in bringing her ripe bosom to a new swollen girth. What she could have once believed to be the size of honeydews became generously-sized watermelons beneath her. The end of the next day, those same sacks had flourished to a state of common playground balls for sports. Only a couple more doses, and the pegasus became grounded with the exceeding weight of the storing spheres. Their normal space between her thighs had become much too small for them, and they pushed themselves out to press back against the front of her legs and against her stomach when she moved. Walking became increasingly difficult, and she began to wonder if perhaps she should pause on taking anymore of the plant to let them recede before her situation became a predicament. What if they stopped working after that though? The possibility of becoming dry kept her taking the same pod and leaves each morning, until she had at last consumed a quarter of the jar a week later.
With her amazing burden to bear beneath her, at least she had the comfort of someone nearby to help her when the weight became too much for her to bother dragging around the house more than her nightly bath. Angel had inherited the role of her assistant in this endeavor, but from the constant frown and displeased scowl in his features, this was a labor he did not do willingly. Fetching her meals each day, bringing her those silly plants each morning, fetching pails of water constantly, the rabbit became just as burdened as she had. The times he got to rest were becoming quite few, and sadly, they were now being spent all alone. When the night would quiet down, he could go upstairs to see the pony curled around the snoozing younglings with a smile that did not need him to exist. Even when he had tried one evening to bring that stupid old storybook to her with a hopeful smile, she took it from him happily and began reading it... to the kittens. He had tried to stay to listen as well, but he was called away to answer a knocking at the door. It didn’t matter to him anyways, as he dragged himself down the stairs with a sullen droop to his ears: She was not reading it for him anyways. The caller at the door was one of the pony’s friends, come to check on her since her week-long absence from Ponyville. Angel turned them all away with the notice that she was not feeling well, as she had expressed a fear of letting anypony see her this way.
Those stupid kittens. Two weeks had gone by since the little brats came into her custody, and they had all but absorbed every scrap of time and care she could give. Angel brooded with the thought of the creatures and their endless void of neediness, sucking in everything around them with just their presence. What a worthless investment, he considered, because it was not like they had ever done anything for anyone else around. Why was it that he was having to sacrifice for them now? His own time, his own household... his own loving caretaker. The thought of them nestled up against her silky fur of her chest and knowing the snug embrace of her legs wrapped around them in a hug created a smoldering feeling in his gut. How dare they.
“Angel? If you’re not too busy, I’m getting a little hungry. Could you please make me something?”
The rabbit sighed as he obediently trudged from the sofa in the living room to the small kitchen at the back of the cottage. It was not like he was going to say no to her when she needed his help. If it weren’t for those damn cats, she would not need him so often however. Maybe then she’d want him again instead. Leafy greens and half-heartedly chopped carrots were tossed into a wide bowl as he did not even bother looking at what he was adding, preoccupied with the burning wrench in his chest when he knew he would go up there to nothing but a simple “thank you” and being forced to witness those worthless parasites latched to her like they always were.
That’s when a glass jar resting open on the counter caught his eye. That dumb plant was the reason the creatures even survived this long, he thought. If not for its help, the picky beasts would have wasted away a week ago at least. Maybe they should be eating that instead of taking his friend away from him? Then the long, rodent teeth flashed in a devilish grin at the thought. His tiny paws grasped for the jar, pulling it with him towards the bowl as he considered an alternative.
If those kittens want their milk so bad... why not give them exactly what they want?
What a nice nap. The heat of the sun coming in through the window basked on Fluttershy as she smiled with her mouth half-open in a sighing yawn. It was about that time again, she considered as she reached beneath her with a hoof to scratch a pesky itch. What perplexed her is when she felt her hoof blocked before her, nearly bouncing off of something that impeded her reach of the irritating little scratchy sensation on her belly. Whatever it was rumbled from the timid tap, gurgling slightly with the jostling motion. What in the world could that be?
The answer brought horror to the pony when she opened her eyes, seeing nothing but a valley of yellow before her vision when she looked down at herself. Her jump at the sight was enough that she collapsed over the side of the bed, wailing when she hit the floor and looked up to the swaying globes that towered over her. At first she hoped she was dreaming, taking her hoof to gingerly prod the immense orb to see if it was really hers. The intense shudder that shot through her when the tap created a ripple within the filled flesh made her dread the reality that this was indeed quite true. They rested on the bed above her, and she could see the boards of it strained under their impressive weight. The board curved downwards to struggle in holding up the two soft spheres, creaking very slightly in threat to snap. Just barely she could make out the complaining sounds of the kittens on the other side of the room as they must have fallen off the other side of the bed, pushed out of the way to make room for her swelling masses.
“Hang on sweeties!” Fluttershy immediately called back to them, “Momma’ll be there really soon! Just huddle together for now!” Glancing back up to the looming sight of the monstrous mammaries brought her ears back into a pin against her head. Soon was probably not the right word.
What was she going to do? What was there that she could do? The pony’s hoof reached up once more to gently stroke her tender bust as she thought of where to even begin in fixing this. When they gurgled at her touch, she thought that maybe they just needed to be emptied a bit. There was little success in her attempt to drain herself when she pushed her body into the cushiony valley of cleavage before her, reaching her hooves as far into the crevice as she could in hopes to reach her tightened nips proudly sporting on the other side. At least she was able to reach the itch when she dug her way between them. The struggles and kicks to try pushing herself further into the split made the boulder-sized asset slosh around her, waving their weight back and forth so that they came to smack her head between them when they swayed back towards one another. She could feel the chill of liquid sliding down the front of them, knowing that her presses and struggles made them leak very slowly, but it could take days for them to get back to a manageable size at that rate. She would need something faster.
Applejack helped cows get milked before, didn’t she? She even had a machine that helped her do it! That was it! Knowing exactly who she could see to fix this problem, the pony quickly grasped for the blanket on the bed and tried her best to fold it over her huge bosom. There was no way she could walk normally with them beneath her: they were so large that her hooves would not even touch the ground if she tried. Dragging them would have to do, and the blanket would keep her sensitive mounds from getting scratched and injured when she tugged with all of her might at the fabric beneath them to slide them slowly across the floor. The jostling jugs tumbled over the edge of the bed to smack the floor with a thud that shook the room, and she howled in unexpected pain from them slamming so hard. It would be a long tip for her to endure, and the worst was yet to come: Stairs.
There was no safe or easy way for her to do this, as her back hoof touched the first step of the stairs down to the living room. With many minutes at her disposal, she had succeeded in tugging with all of the might of her legs and her fluttering wings to slide the overbearing orbs as she walked backwards. She had even had to find a way to shove and pull them one a time through the door to fit at all. Carefully, slowly, she tried pulling them with her to the steps, hoping to take them one at a time. Once her breasts pressed and squeezed over the edge of the step, the flow of flesh began into a downpour atop her. Their shape molded around the point of each step, and surged out between the side railing as there was barely enough room for them both. One step back brought her globes three steps forward, and before she knew it, she could not stop the momentum of her tumbling teats. The washed over her and muffled her scream between their warm groove, rolling down the stairs and taking her with them. The collapse ended with an uncomfortable crash as they rolled right into the wall at the bottom of the stairs, and pushed their weight right through as they splintered the boards and cracked the planking. Left in a daze, Fluttershy could not even recognize that she was now outside of her home in the midday sun until someone approached her.
A groan of question escaped the maw of sharp teeth when he saw the unexpected sight of the jiggling yellow boulders that came to a slow, rolling stop with the familiar pegasus in tow. Her nose touched the ground as she panted for breath atop of them, reaching to the ground with her hooves helplessly when she found that their weight resisted her futile tugs. The brown-pelted creature stepped closer with another groan of question, reaching out a massive paw with savage black claws to pat the enormous orbs in question if they were real. By the pleasant jostle they gave in response and the slight sinking of his paw into it, they were more real than he would have guessed. The bear’s brow furrowed in slow consideration of what he had stumbled upon, having wandered up to the cottage this winter day in hopes to find a friend who had many times before offered snacks for his midwinter reprieve of the cave.
“Oh!” the pegasus responded in a shudder at the sensation of his paw, looking up to give a relieved smile. “Thank goodness somebody came! Mr. Bear, please, I need to get to Sweet Apple Acres as fast as I can. Are you busy with anything?”
Giving one more prod of his paw against the hypnotizingly swaying milk tanks, the bear shook his head to her through his astonishment.
“Wonderful!” she exclaimed with another helpless tug at the ground before her. “Maybe you can take me there then? I’d be ever-so-grateful for the help.” It was not very heartening when the bear shrugged back to her, making one attempt to wrap his long arms around her right bosom only to find that it took up most of his grasp, that this was not going to be very effective. “We can use the wheelbarrow I use for gardening. Could you do it then?”
It was better than nothing, but not by much. When they were situated as comfortably as they could be, the two extreme mounds overflowed from the top of the wheelbarrow. Fluttershy herself could not fit in it with them, having to balance herself on the very edge with a flutter of her wings to stay standing with her front legs hugged around their sides to keep standing. The bear strained with grunts and groans at the staggering weight within the wheelbarrow. The trip was made no easier by the fact that he had to move slowly with it to keep from toppling the pony and her assets out of it, which did happen once and postponed their trip.
The other stop they had to make was when the bear collapsed to the ground in an exhausted heap, tongue lolling out of his mouth as he wheezed from the extended strain. “Mr. Bear? Are you okay over there?” The growl he gave back was unintelligible, just a complaint in response as he looked back up. The sight of her was still blocked by the yellow spheres pudging over the sides of the metal wheelbarrow. “I’m sorry that you’re tired,” she responded guiltily, “Is there anything I can do to make you feel better?” He gave no answer then, contemplating the question until a single white drop splashed on the end of his nose. He was feeling a tad thirsty.
“Hey! Wh-what are you doing!?” Fluttershy shouted back as the sudden discomfort for sharp teeth poked at the tender pink flesh hidden on the other side of her bosom. A shrill quail of uncertainty left her when the vice around her nipple became more intense, and suction pulled it in deeper to the moistness of his mouth. Recognizing finally what was afoot when she felt a tongue pass over her dug in apology, she gave a panting sigh of relief. “Is... is that what you want then? Well, alright, if it will make you feel better,” she cooed back with her nose buried into her cleavage to hide the darkening of her nose. She was tempted to giggle at the silliness of his request, but simply closed her eyes to wait out the trade so that they could continue on their way.
It took a minute for the bear to have his fill, drawing back to breathe deep with a refreshed feeling. His paw went up to pat the breast thankfully, but his affectionate strike was rebounded when the orb surged in response. Wide-eyed and backing away, the bear crooned in concern, witnessing the flesh start to grow and gurgle anew within the barrel. The cleavage grew deeper, the strain of the breasts to flow over the top of the top of the wheelbarrow creating more and more creases where they wedged firmly within it. A groan of stress screeched dangerously as the metal began to warp and bend beneath the intense pressure building over it.
The spurt nearly toppled the pony, who held on with all of her might to the swelling feed bags. The feeling of fullness became more extreme, forcing her eyes to screw shut as she disbelievingly gew, simply begging for the surge to end soon. It lasted only half a minute perhaps, but a few feet total must have been added to the girth of each burgeoned tit, now just barely contained over the wheelbarrow whose wheel threatened to snap.
They agreed that maybe they should hurry before another such spurt took place. Hurrying was relative however, since they were only halfway to the Acres, and the long trip was made only longer by the added load the bear could barely even lift to push forward.
Once again, the orange snout landed first as he pony tumbled with a loud crash. Her hoof slung the doll away from her during the fall, left grumbling as she pulled herself back to her hooves. “Dangit, Applebloom! I’ve told you, stop leavin’ your stuff in the hallway!”
“Whatever,” Applejack muttered under her breath as she continued for the door. Must be important for somepony to interrupt supper time, she thought. She hoped it was important at least, otherwise she might just get upset with somepony. If it was Pinkie just one more time, she might have to sit the gal down and instruct her of when it was and was not polite to go making house calls.
The brown rugged pelt that spanned Applejack’s sight when she opened the door brought her lips to a confused frown, trailing her eyes up the rug to determine what she was looking at. A single yelp of fear came from her as she inched away from the door at the sight of the bear, looking quickly for an object to grasp in her mouth.
The bear reached down to grasp at his knees, coughing and wheezing at the ground as he needed the moment just to concentrate on standing. When his breath had returned to him, he shook his head in dismissal of her fear, and instead made a single, disowning gesture behind him for her. The pony simple continued to stare on in bewilderment of the strange behaviour of the beast, slowly approaching the door again as he staggered his way back towards the forest for his own well-deserved rest. The sight beyond the broad bear was not much more believable however, when what looked like a pegasus hugging two yellow weather balloons came into sight. A pink mane swayed in the chilly breeze, and the creature fluttered her wings desperately to remain on her hooves with the massive globes in her grasp. When the sight of a pink nub poked out pridefully at the far end of the golden mass, it struck Applejack that it was no weather balloon that Fluttershy was holding.
“Sugarcube?” began the perplexed farmpony as she came hesitantly close to the scene near her barn, “What in Celestia’s name has happened here?” A perturbed set to her brows lingered in her face as she looked over the grotesquely swollen hills of flesh. “You uh... you seem a little different.”
“I know you’d really like to know what happened, but please, can we talk about that a little later?” Fluttershy panted back in discomfort, screwing her eyes shut to cope with the extreme sensations coming from her overfilled glands. Pressure, sloshing, and most of all the bitter cold that made her whole body quake and teeth nearly chatter as her expanded flesh had been subject to the elements of the winter day until it was now nearly sunset. “It’s really really cold and I just want to be back to normal again.”
“I ain’t a doctor, Fluttershy,” Applejack said back as she raised her hoof in contemplation of touching the unbelievable boob. “I ain’t a magician neither. I think you need to see somepony else.”
“No, no, I just need them to be emptied. Please, Applejack, this has gotten out of control. You have a milker here, don’t you? Just let me use it for a little while, I promise I’ll pay you back with whatever you want.”
Applejack shook her head at the notion, still unable to pull her eyes away from the marvels. “Naw... no need to pay me back. It, uh, it ain’t really a trouble at all. Just... let’s get ya hooked up and maybe you can tell me what nonsense you done gotten into this time.”
“Dayum!” rang a deep voice from the farmhouse.
“Mac! Get out here and stop gawkin’ already!”
The first step was somehow finding a way to move the overbearing pegasus into the barn so that the cold would be a bit less troublesome to her. Even Mac’s reputable strength was put to its limit, using all of his might to try to shove, roll or slide the gratuitous glands through the barn door. When he want to push them each time, it was shocking how much give was in the surface of her bosom, his face disappearing into the flesh and his shoulders would be partially sunken into the globe. Applejack did not fare much better, and by pushing with her side, the sound of the disturbed fluids within made her dizzy after many attempts to move the mammary. Fluttershy could only hide her face during the struggle, feeling her face burn and her body twinge in uncomfortable ways from the sensations that came over her from their attentions. She just hoped it would be over soon.
Attaching her to the pumping mechanism was a bit of a challenge as well. It required Mac to hold his sister up above his head so they could even reach the teat, and the pump just barely was able to reach both of them as the hoses stretched to their limit. It would have to suffice, and Applejack commented that Fluttershy should be glad she had not gotten any bigger. The pegasus found it difficult to look at the bright side in that way, but knowing that it would all soon be over did comfort her finally.
Like a monster the machine roared to life when the switch was hit. The whirring of fans sounded as suction began through the extended hoses, eliciting a howl from the pony they were attached to. She sunk her teeth into the canyon of milky flesh before her just to stifle her sounds, screwing her eyes shut to endure the sensation of her teats being tugged deep into the long milking tubes with each interval of violent suction. The farmpony and her brother watched with their mouths agape at the sight of the pump at work, the teats extending into the plastic tubes with each audible whirr from the machine. A trickle of milk had began early, but as each pump continued, the trickle became a steady flow, then a stream. The violence of her expressing continued until they could both hear the roar of the torrent of her milk being freed from the overfilled mounds. Each second, it looked like an inch faded away from the gargantuan globes, flowing their nectar straight into the machine that greedily consumed it all. “Uh, Mac... we’re gonna need a lot more than just a couple jugs for this, don’t you think?” They would indeed, and their duties became rapidly exchanging out the depository for the pump as it seemed to endlessly draw from the well of Fluttershy’s bosom. They started with pails, but those did not last long at all before they resorted to their barrels to try to contain the bountiful flow.
They had created a pile of the barrels in the farm corner of the barn during the extended pumping. Fluttershy had began chanting a mantra to herself of how it would all be over soon, tightening her grasp around the shrinking bags in hopes to speed their emptying. Back to the size of boulders, down to the familiar girth of playground balls, to the pleasant weight of melons, and they continued to be fervently sucked dry until they were barely even a mouthful. The pump struggled to pull anymore from her, repeatedly sucking on her teat again and again to no avail. The whole time, the pegasus merely curled around the tubes and whipsered her mantra with eyes firmly shut, never realizing that it was all over until the cheery chuckle of a sultry farmpony’s voice.
“You can stop now, Sugarcube. You’re all done.” The first sight to meet her opening eyes was a generous smile from the orange, freckled face of her friend. The pearly teeth gleamed in a curious grin, one brow raised up at her. “So... now that you got a minute, mind tellin’ me how the hay a pony starts dragging industrial-sized bazongas behind her?”
Fluttershy gave a quiet grunt as she forced the tubes away from her abused nips, shuddering as the discomfort of the cold air hitting them once again and wiping away the residue left on her lower tummy. “I’m actually really tired. I promise I’ll tell you everything tomorrow, but I really just want to get home and rest after a day like today.”
“Alright then, if you say so. You need somepony to walk you home after all this... excitement?” Applejack offered, watching as the pegasus walked with a limping gait towards the barn door.
Beaming a relieved smile back, Fluttershy turned around one last time to regard her savior. “No, I think I can make it. I’ve caused you more than enough trouble. Is there a good time for me to come back tomorrow so I can keep my promise of telling you what happened?” It made little sense to her that Applejack’s mouth hung open dumbfoundedly in response, staring far below her own gaze at her. “Applejack? I asked what time you’d like me to come over.”
“You... uh...” she stammered back in shock, possibly terror as she inched back into the barn from the sight. “You might not be goin’ anywhere just yet.”
“Why-” her sentence was cut off as she looked down to where her friend stared to see two proud, perked pink nubs pressing forward into her field of vision, riding atop yellow fleshy balloons that visibly grew before her eyes. Inch after inch grew beneath her, their round shape reaching the ground beneath her and flattening against the surface. Before she could even call out a startled plea for help, her hooves started to leave the ground as the flesh pushed up into her belly and raised her up. She rode atop the rapidly swelling pillows, trembling at the feeling of their pressure becoming more acute with every passing moment. Their size rumbled and gurgled with rushing fluid, growing out into the barn at an alarming rate.
Applejack glanced around the barn helplessly as the golden orbs eclipsed the light of the sunset from the barn door, blocking her path within a minute to leave her trapped inside the structure with the burgeoning breasts. “Mac! Come on, quick, let’s get her back outside!” she called when she rushed forward to slam her body against the inflating spheres. Straining, shoving, slamming, the pony tried anything she could to shift the swelling masses out of the door to give her an escape, but one fevered push went too far, and she slammed right into the growing expanse of cleavage between the tremeoundous teats. Before she could back away, the bulking boulders pulled her in further between them from the stretching of their size. Her legs tugged at the ground to try to free herself, but the weight at her sides overpowered her struggles, and soon the sounds of an oceanic load drowned out her hollar, the light faded as they pressed in around her.
Mac’s only thought was to slowly back away from the advancing tanks. Each step seemed to need to come faster than the last, the invading milky body inflating with more ferocity every second. A gulp sounded from within his throat when his rump touched the wooden wall of the barn, and the breast that had become a wall of flesh holding back her sea of milk pushed towards him and pressed into his nose. The press did not let up, his whole body lifted back and moved further into the wall as Fluttershy’s relentless boob fought him for every little bit of space there was. The flesh molded around his muscles and his face, pushing his cheek into the wall for every last inch it could take to continue its rampaging growth.
The feeling of her breasts being viced by the comparatively small barn door now distracted Fluttershy, having slipped through the portal so that she lied atop the increasing humps. She could feel every inch, every foot, every yard of new area over her bosom, the sensations of them pushing out and over and within the confines of the barn mind-numbingly intense and frighteningly pleasurable to her. Her flesh bulged with creases out of the barn door, straining the wooden planks so they creaked dangerously at the vastly improving load they held back. Every moment, she could feel gallons of fluid and flesh simply pour into her unending well of milk like someone had turned on a firehose inside her. Each second was simply a plea that it would stop as soon as possible, but she there was twinge of want in the back of her mind that simply called out to her to enjoy it, and cried out a single word that she could not fight her want for: “More.”
With each moment pushing her higher and higher off the ground, she moaned and shuddered at the exciting feeling of struggle within the barn before her. The struggle for space that each independent, surging mass fought, the struggle of a pony caught within the deep cleavage that her kicks and squirms sent wave-like ripples through the load of milk within her, the struggle of a stallion pushed to the wall, a sharp point on him as the struggle must have excited him as well.. The sensations embarrassed her, but she could not resist the need to nuzzle and manically grope what she could reach of her own breasts. The pleasure rapidly changed to pain however, when a groan from the within the barn ominously alerted her to a limit soon approaching. Her rising from the ground was impeded when a bubble of filled breast bulged and swelled visibly out of the hayloft above her, and beared down to push her deeper into the unstopping growth of flesh below. The masses pushed against one another, pinning her between them and blotting out the light. She could hear the ominous groaning through the slight rumbles that tickled the liquid within her, and it terrified her to consider.
This could not go on forever. It was not possible. She knew this, but she just did not know what would eventually give in. She could not tell what the origin of hte creaking was that she heard in her own skin, and each moment she believed she could take no more milk. Yet every time she thought there was absolutely no more room within her, the pressure increased to a new intensity she did not know possible. Glass shattered as the windows within the barn gave way to the wave that pressed against them, creating more bubbles of bulging flesh out of the portals to alleviate the pressure within her and within the barn just a little more. The limit was quickly coming, and she screamed when the groaning and rumbling and creaking deafened her to anything else. There was no more room, there was simply no more room, and it felt like that any moment she was going to burst from the unimaginable tightness she felt within her. Then the pressure increased yet again, though she thought it impossible, and the groan gave a final triumphant roar around her. The limit was achieved.
An explosion made the very earth beneath Ponyville tremble violently. The sound of wood splintering, of boards snapping, of stone of the very foundation being cracked when there was just no more room for the gushing milk to fill. The roof of the barn shot up into the air from the force, falling down on its side with a deafening crash nearby.
Like two giant water balloons, the victorious tits surged and waved like an ocean tide in the freedom of the cold air. Their round shape was made imperfect as they flattered against the ground from the great weight they bore. The mountainous mammaries shook and swayed for a long while, taking many minutes before they finally came to rest with one of the hill-sized boobs resting halfway into the wheat field, and the other sprawled out across the lawn and pressed over half of the farmhouse that poked into her flesh.
When it all came to a halt, Fluttershy hid her face in her hooves, unable to describe the weight of shame when witnessing the outcome of her unexpected production. There was comfort in the sensation that someone still fought and clawed in cavernous crack between the boob flesh. It crawled slowly in her direction, until it came close enough to surface with only an orange snout poking into the cold air to gasp panickedly for breath.
“I’m really sorry, Applejack. I promise I’ll make up for it!”
The snout sticking out of the cleavage mashed together merely pursed its lips unhappily before it responded. “I think maybe we should wait a little bit before doing anything. Now that we got more time, you mind tellin’ me what the hay is goin’ on?””
Indemnity wore a frown so large that it displaced the features of his face with it. His eyes remained locked on the damp patches on the ground and looking over the carnage of what was once a barn when she finished her tale. He said nothing at first, merely standing to go investigate a bit more through the rubble to find some metal scrap of what must have once been a machine. “... I fail to see any planetary-sized tits around here, Miss Apple,” he snidely remarked.
Applejack exhaled deeply at his brooding response, shaking her head. “Naw, this was a couple days ago. That herb she was talkin’ about wore off within twenty-four hours. Took us all damn day yesterday to get her emptied though. Poor gal’s on bed-rest for a while, an’ it’s gonna take awhile for those “tits” of hers to shrink back down to their rightful size.”
“I never asked for a prognosis,” he shot down abruptly, letting the metal lump land back in the refuse with a clink.
“I forgot, you’re too busy
As his mouth opened to snipe back rudely, he was interrupted by a shattering boom that shook the ground violently enough that they both nearly fell down, all of their eyes shooting to the direction of the little town Ponyville. Jiggling pink mountains rose up before their vision, billowing in size within seconds. The rounded piles sported the expanding image of three balloons on its side, and a ear-splitting giggle rode on the wind following the crash. Reaching up his hoof to swipe it over his spiky mane once more, the agent smoldered as he regretfully informed, “No. Not by a long shot.”

“‘An now it’s dessert time! Ah hope ya saved some room,” Applejack said as she ducked back into the kitchen of Fluttershy’s cottage, leaving the swollen pegasus to cup her distended middle with a foreleg and chin against the table.
Fluttershy let out a small burp, just barely parting her lips to let it out. She glanced at the already empty plates, a tower of glass dishes that served as a reminder of just how much she had already packed away in such a small time. If she didn’t know better, she’d think that she had been eating all day - but in reality, those plates of food had been devoured in just dinnertime.
Fluttershy’s soft flanks spread out across the floor as she sat in front of the table, and the once fashion model had all but lost that figure once she started dating Applejack. The farmpony simply didn’t understand how working on a farm burned more calories than tending to animals in a cottage all day, and the massive meals had taken their toll on her body.
Of course, at the same time, Applejack never ate this much despite her protests that she did, so Fluttershy had her doubts.
Fluttershy had little time to think, however, before a tray of admittedly divine treats made their way out of her cottage kitchen, balanced delicately on Applejack’s back. In fact, Fluttershy couldn’t think of a time she’d seen Applejack do something with such finesse and grace, and she’d been surprised to see how caring Applejack could be when it came to food... or maybe it was just feeding her - she wasn’t sure.
“Applejack, I’m... um... pretty full, actually,” Fluttershy protested, but it didn’t stop Applejack from carefully slipping the tray off of her back and onto the table. Her eyes brushed over all the food that had just been placed in front of her, and she knew for a fact that she wasn’t going to be able to resist.
The harder question, though, was where to start. A true masterpiece of different desserts were laid out in front of her, and each one tempted her despite the protests from her packed stomach brushing against her thighs as she sat. Apple fritters, each one carefully deep fried and loaded with cinnamon and glaze, a brown, fresh baked and delightfully buttery and flaky apple pie right alongside, followed up with a generous helping of a bowl of candy apples, each one a dazzlingly bright red and slick to the eyes, sticky with delicious sugar that she could just about see running off each apple.
Her mouth watered, despite already being full of apple foods, and she lost all resistance right there. Compounding her weakened defenses was the nuzzling to her neck, suddenly finding Applejack quite contently pressed up against her marefriend’s side, their flanks firmly held together by how close she was seated. “C’mon, sugarcube,” Applejack said, and Fluttershy gave a little blush. She adored the little nickname - as of late, she’d noticed that Applejack reserved that name for her and her alone. “Jus’ a little dessert. Ah know ya’ll like it.”
Fluttershy tried to muster up a verbal defense, but found herself unable to put words together to argue. There wasn’t any way she could deny that, and she closed her mouth that was hanging open to protest, no words forming on her lips.
She leaned in, first, for the fritters - they were served up nearly nightly once Applejack had gotten her to admit that, above all, they were her favorite. Her chest bumped against the table, and Applejack reacted immediately by dragging the plate closer for easier access, and Fluttershy bit into the first one.
Despite how often she’d had them in the past month, they never lost their allure. The first bite was a wonderful flavor, one that was unmatched by any other food she’d ever had. She knew she shouldn’t - they were, after all, deep fried and oh-so bad for her - but as that sweet glaze rolled over her tounge, followed by the delicious, gooey apple center, she knew that whole plate was going to disappear.
Fluttershy, dainty as ever, ate the first and tackled a second in no time at all, those deviously sweet treats no match for the pegasus’ newfound hunger. Each one passed her lips and settled into her already full belly, causing that distended reminder to how much she’d already eaten to sag a little closer to the ground with each bite.
But she didn’t mind. Applejack, in all her wonderful farm-pony glory, egged her on with increased eagerness with each bite. The nuzzles were firm into her neck, some trailing a little higher to brush against her jaw as she chewed the desserts one by one, and from the loving distractions she totally missed the entire plate going by. Fluttershy reached out for another of the fritter’s she’d grown (in more than one way) to love, only to find the plate empty.
Her stomach let out a gurgle, signaling that she was really full, and as she opened her mouth to say something, she felt those surprisingly delicate teeth brushing against the flightbone of her wing.
All of the worries in the world melted away from the pegasus when those teeth brushed over her wing, and against her will those feathered appendages stretched off to the sides. It was a slight change in position, but it was enough for Applejack to exploit, snuffling her snout right into that plumage and ruffling the feathers up with her snout.
Fluttershy let out a delighted giggle as the sensation rolled through her entire body, one of her most sensitive body parts being toyed with a little roughly being a truly fantastic feeling. The offended wing fluttered a little, batting against Applejack’s nose which prompted the attacker to open her mouth and nibble, lightly, on the group of feathers closest to her mouth.
It was a reward system that Fluttershy had found familliar after countless nights spent in her marefriend’s farm home, and Applejack had learned exactly when to deploy it. “Ah think ya’ll could finish at least the apples, don’t you?” and Fluttershy had to admit that yes, she could, if it meant those gentle, lovely teeth didn’t stop their work.
Brushing her mane aside with a quick toss of her head to not cover a strand of it in red glaze, Fluttershy leaned in. She didn’t even notice Applejack having scooted that bowl closer to her, but it wasn’t important when it happened. Her teeth sunk into that delicious, juicy and cool apple, her mouth being filled with a similar but entirely unique sweetness. One that was more sugar than apple, though the juice dribbling down her chin and onto a well-placed napkin reminded her that this wasn’t the same treat. And it was good . The apple, with a slight nudge of her nose, rolled over and allowed her to chomp down on the rest of it, the fruit disappearing to be packed away with the rest of her dinner feast.
Applejack slipped a hoof around that wing she’d targeted for attentions and pulled herself closer. A slight bit of tension and that wing opened up entirely, spread fully off to the sides, though with Fluttershy’s new size it seemed to be a bit small on the pegasus. Even still, it offered up just as many feathers as they always did, and Applejack leaned herself back to stroke along each and every member of that beautiful plumage.
Fluttershy reeled with delight - she’d been embarrassed the first time Applejack had found that weakness, ashamed by how easy she was to manipulate to get her wings played with by her lover, but after many sessions that feeling evaporated along with all her other worries. There was no shame, no guilt anymore, and Applejack’s unconditional love, kind words and delicious foods made sure those feelings never came back.
Her stomach was taut to the touch, a round, yellow belly a testament to how full she was, but those apples didn’t stand a chance. A long, hard shudder ran down her spine as she felt teeth nibble and tug at the displaced feathers as a result of her snuffles, slowly placing them back to where they belonged as another tug at the joint caused each feather to spread out even farther, fully extended as if she were gliding through a summer breeze.
It would take some time for each feather to be brought back in line, Applejack doing her best despite lacking the natural instincts that a pegasus had when it came to wings, but those apples kept her occupied. Each one was a delicious, sweet adventure, every new apple rewarding Fluttershy with a gush of cool apple juices rushing down her throat and calming that churning stomach of hers.
That bowl of apples found themselves completely empty once again, and Fluttershy dipped her nose into the bowl to lap up the remaining sugar that dripped off of the delicious treats, and just after she dipped her snout to the table, resting her chin with a delighted sigh.
Just as quickly, Applejack backed off. She unhooked her hoof and set it instead around Fluttershy’s back, giving her a light squeeze that intentionally dodged her belly - after all, they could both tell just how full she was. A light gurgle reminded them both, anyway, as that overfed stomach tried it’s best to start in on digesting that huge meal.
A light peck at her cheek caused a slight blush to rush across her snout. The nuzzle returned, this time right against the side of her snout, and a light puff of warm breath washed over her snout. “So, that pie...”
Fluttershy let out a tiny, delicate burp, and Applejack couldn’t help but let out a hearty guffaw. “Didn’ think so. Tomorrow night, maybe.”

Fluttershy Drinks Cider and Gets Fat by Bob DaHobo
A bell chime rang through Sugarcube Corner, as it always did whenever somepony opened the door. Today, the door-opener was Fluttershy. (I’m not going to bother describing any of these characters, because if you’re reading this, you know who they are anyway.) Pinkie Pie immediately bounced over to her.
“Hi Fluttershy, what can I get for you today?” Pinkie Pie asked with her usual enthusiasm. “You should try the cakecups, I made them myself!” She gestured to a row of cups containing cake batter and frosting.
Fluttershy looked down. “No thanks,” she declined the offer politely. She began to say something else, but was interrupted.
“If you didn’t want to buy anything, why did you go to a bakery?” Pinkie asked, befuddled. “Ponies go to bakeries to buy delicious treats!”
“I was hoping you could give me some advice.” Fluttershy’s voice was somehow even quieter than usual.
Pinkie thought for a moment. “Don’t ever make a clone of yourself. It’s not nearly as fun as it seems.”
“No, I meant,” Fluttershy paused. Something on the floor had apparently become incredibly interesting. She finally finished the sentence with, “relationship advice.”
“Oh, why didn’t you say so?” asked Pinkie, happily as ever. “Who is it?”
“That’s what I’ve been trying to-” Fluttershy stopped mid-sentence again. “Can we go somewhere less... public?”
“Okee dokee loki!” Pinkie led Fluttershy up the back stairs, and to her room on the top floor. Pinkie shut the door after Fluttershy had entered, and proceeded to stare at her expectantly.
“Pinkie,” Fluttershy started, “you spend a lot of time with Rainbow Dash, right?”
“Oh, I get it!” Pinkie exclaimed proudly. “You want me to help you get together with Rainbow Dash, right?”
“Yes,” Fluttershy admitted.
Pinkie pulled a piece of paper (that’s called alliteration) out of nowhere, and titled it “Operation Get-Fluttershy-Together-With-Rainbow-Dash”. The title took up most of the page.
“If you want Rainbow Dash to like you, you’re gonna have to remind her of other things she likes,” Pinkie decided.
“Are you sure it works like that?” Fluttershy asked.
“Of course, silly!” Pinkie replied. “So, what kinds of things does Rainbow Dash like?”
“Flying. The Wonderbolts. Stunts. Doing stunts while flying,” Fluttershy listed off. She thought for a moment and added, “Apple cider.”
Pinkie had written down each item on her paper. “Do you think you can impress Rainbow Dash with your flying skills?” she asked.
“Pinkie, you’ve seen me fly, right?” Fluttershy reminded her gently.
“Oh yeah,” Pinkie started to giggle, but when her friend wasn’t amused, she quickly stopped herself. She looked at the list and crossed off the first four items. “Cider it is, then!” Pinkie decided.
“Making cider’s really more of Applejack’s job,” Fluttershy said, ready to give up. “Oh, I’m sorry I bothered you, this will never work.”
“No, silly, you won’t be making cider,” Pinkie explained unhelpfully. “Believe me, this’ll work, or my name isn’t “Pinkamena “Responsibility” Diane “Fun” Pie”!”(Yes, I stole that joke. Muhaha. I’m evil.)
In case you’re confused as to why a giant line is interrupting an incredibly awkwardly written scene, it’s because the giant line is actually a page break. This way, I can just skip to the next scene without having to describe any of the stuff that happened between the two. Don’t worry, the only things I skipped were the robot pirate attack, the time all of Equestria was turned into Skyrim, and the time when Discord, Chrysalis, and King Sombra teamed up, but were defeated singlehoofedly by Derpy. Oh, here’s the page break now:
“Are ya’ll sure ‘bout this, sugarcube?” asked Applejack.
“Well, Pinkie was sure that it wouldn’t be dangerous,” Fluttershy replied unconvincingly. “Something about cartoon physics.”
“Ah don’t understand half of what that mare says,” Applejack remarked.
“Neither do I,” Fluttershy admitted. “But she wouldn’t lie about it.”
“Alright, ah suppose ya’ll can come around back when ya’ll are ready.” Applejack disappeared into the cellar.
Fluttershy headed around to the back of the Apple’s house, near where the trees started. Applejack came out of a second cellar entrance, pulling several large barrels behind her.
“I don’t think we’ll need... that many,” Fluttershy said softly.
“Ah suppose not,” admitted Applejack. “Ya’ll ready?”
Fluttershy once again contemplated backing out, but finally decided to respond, “Yes.”
Applejack lifted the first barrel of cider and positioned the spigot such that it would drain into Fluttershy’s mouth. She flipped the valve.
The cider flowed out far faster than Fluttershy had anticipated. She swallowed as fast as she could, but couldn’t keep up. She took a step back, which caused a significant amount of the cider to splash onto the ground before Applejack could stop it.
“Look what ya’ll’ve done!” Applejack said. Her voice had an annoyed edge to it.
“I’m sorry,” Fluttershy managed to gasp out, catching her breath.
Applejack’s annoyance disappeared. “It’s okay, sugarcube. Ya’ll ready to go again?”
“Again?” Fluttershy squeaked. “I thought, maybe, we should,” she dropped to almost inaudible levels, “stop?”
Applejack looked at Fluttershy. The pegasus’s belly was about the same size as Pinkie’s, after she’d done that thing where she ate an entire cake whole.
“We Apple’s got a saying,” Applejack said. “Finish what ya’ll start. Here, I’ll even help ya.” She advanced toward Fluttershy, holding a rope. Fluttershy attempted to protest, but her near-inaudible voice was no match for Applejack’s lasso skills. Applejack tied Fluttershy’s front legs together to stop her from backing out again, and gently secured her wings down to prevent flying away (like with Rainbow Dash in that one episode, in case you want a visual reference for some reason.). Then, she lifted another barrel to Fluttershy’s mouth and released the valve. The pegasus had no choice but to force down all the cider that was rapidly flowing out. She could feel herself becoming more and more bloated with every swallow. The rope around her wings got stretched tighter and tighter, until finally the size of Fluttershy’s gut caused it to snap. Flying was pretty much out of the question at this point, though. Fluttershy’s belly continued to swell, to the point where it managed to touch the ground.
By the time the barrel was empty, Fluttershy’s hooves could barely reach the ground.
“How are ya’ll feelin’, sugarcube?” Applejack asked, setting the barrel back down and inspecting Fluttershy’s swollen figure.
Fluttershy considered. Somehow, Pinkie had been right. At no point during the process had she been in any pain. Admittedly, she was somewhat uncomfortable and extremely embarrassed. She didn’t say any of this to Applejack though. Instead, she hiccuped loudly.
Applejack laughed, and poked at Fluttershy’s expanded stomach. It sloshed around and tickled slightly. Fluttershy couldn’t help but giggle. She stopped immediately at Applejack’s next statement, though.
“Ah think ya’ll can get a bit more in there,” Applejack decided, grabbing another barrel.
“I don’t,” Fluttershy whimpered.
“It’s mah cider, ah get to decide how much ya’ll drink,” Applejack told her. She began to pour the second barrel before Fluttershy could object.
Before even a quarter of the barrel was emptied, Fluttershy couldn’t reach the ground at all with her front hooves. Her belly continued to grow, raising her head higher and higher. Applejack was straining to reach her mouth with the barrel. She turned off the flow.
“Sugarcube, ah’ve got to request that ya’ll either lean forward, or lay on your back,” Applejack requested.
“I think we should -hic- stop,” Fluttershy requested, raising her front legs as if that would somehow convince Applejack.
“Alright,” said Applejack, causing Fluttershy to breathe a sigh of relief. Her relief didn’t last long, however, as Applejack proceeded to walk over and roll the bloated pegasus onto her back. Getting some of the pressure off her belly was nice, Fluttershy had to admit, but the rolling made her feel slightly sick.
“Ya’ll ready?” Applejack returned to the barrel.
“No,” whimpered Fluttershy.
“There’s only a little left,” Applejack told her. “Ya’ll aint getting away until ya’ll finish this, anyhow.”
Not having Applejack’s permission was the least of the reasons why Fluttershy wasn’t going to be leaving anytime soon. Realizing this, Fluttershy tried to think of what she could say to stall for time. While she was busy thinking, Applejack grabbed an as-of-yet unused barrel, stuck the spigot into Fluttershy’s mouth, and started the flow.
There was less pressure on Fluttershy’s expanding belly while she was lying on her back, although it was smothering her somewhat. Applejack managed to get the rest of the barrel into the pegasus, then cast it aside to admire her handiwork (hoofiwork?).
Fluttershy’s stomach was large enough that, if someone were to have a hollow life-size statue made of it, a pony could have stood inside the statue comfortably. As it was, Fluttershy hiccupped several times while Applejack untied her friend’s front hooves.
“How are ya’ll feelin’, sugarcube?” Applejack asked, poking at Fluttershy’s oversized gut.
Fluttershy hiccupped again, then thought. She decided to respond with, “Big.”
“Well, ah can’t argue with that,” Applejack laughed.
“Do you think Rainbow Dash will -hic- like it?” Fluttershy asked.
“Right,” Applejack remembered. “Rainbow Dash. Ah’ll go get her.” Applejack galloped off, leaving Fluttershy with nothing to do until somepony else showed up.
Hey look, it’s another one of those page breaks. It’s almost as if, earlier, I was foreshadowing that there would be more. Anyway, here comes the story again:
“Fluttershy? Are you around here somewhere?” Rainbow Dash flew over Sweet Apple Acres. “Applejack said that I would find you here.”
“Down here,” Fluttershy called back softly.
Rainbow Dash looked down, and immediately saw the massive belly that Fluttershy had developed. She swooped out of the sky and landed on it.
“Fluttershy! What happened to you?” Rainbow Dash asked urgently.
“Well, I was trying to get you to... like me, and I know how much you love cider, and Pinkie suggested that I drink a lot of cider, and then you would like me,” Fluttershy explained, feeling more ridiculous with every word. When Dash didn’t respond, she continued with, “So do you?” There was no response.
Fluttershy was convinced that Dash had already flown away, and she was just imagining the feeling of Dash on top of her huge gut, when suddenly she heard a sound. Fluttershy figured out what it was after the sound repeated a few more times: a snore. Dash had fallen asleep.

THIS IS MY SUPER SERIOUS ENTRY FOR THE SUPER AWESOME SERIOUS STORY COMEPTITION PLZ VOTE I WANT TO WIN THAT THING
THis stroy is in Ponyville, but kinda more gloomier. Like more clsoe to a PonyBurgh because instead of having trees and stuff it has gears and pipes and steam vents and it is really cool, because it's like, steampunky, you know, and not as cutesy and ick, ebcause thats nto the kind of towen where pon ies that are super hot vampires and werewolves and stuff live, like they do in this town which has those.
And in PonyBurgh a new pony has come to town today, but its not Twilight because libraries are kinda dumb and I think nobody ever used it except her anyways and it didnt like, make sence they'd have one so she isnt in this stroy, and since it needs Fluttershy for this contest the enw pony is her, dressed in black with makeup and thick lipstick and black hoof polish and her hair like mine instead of over her eye its over both eyes and dyed black and she has black hoof polish. And she jsut moved to the town from the big city because her stupid parents wanted to even though she had friends in the city and could go to the mall and stuff and hang out and check otu cute boys. But now she can't because she's in this tupid town and she doesnt even have the internet yet and she has to go to a new school and its kinda cool but tis still school so thats lame.

My Not-So-Little Pony Write-Off
It’s kind of weird, being awake on a winter’s night. All around me I can hear those faint shrieks of the wind, rushing up against the house and sounding like they’re going to slice through the walls at any second. They won’t, and I know they won’t; this house may be old, but it’s Apple Family built. Ain’t no way we’d let a weedy little storm take down something of ours.
Even so, it ain’t exactly a friendly storm: one that brings a whole lot of rain over the orchards and helps give us a nice, big crop for the year, or that gives us a nice, cool shower at the end of a long day. Nah. This one’s bitter and cold, with icy winds that nip around my hooves whenever I try to go outside, and make me wish Twilight had put that spell on my hat. It’s one that sends frost creeping up the windows, peering in and reminding us how it’s going to stay there for a long time. I wouldn’t be surprised if it got mixed up with something from the Everfree, what with all them huge forks of lightning and roars of thunder that send a certain special—and I can’t even begin to say just how special she is—somepony diving into bed, shivering and trembling with her head under the covers and her rump sticking out. And what a mighty fine little thing—
I want to give myself one of my own stares, right now. The kind that comes with rigid lips. The one that I usually give to Apple Bloom when she’s gotten swill all over the barn wall, again. That one.
Anyway, it is weird tonight. Even though I can hear all the cold and the wind and the rain thundering against the windows, I can’t feel it at all. It might as well be just a normal crisp and clear winter night, for all I care. Because I’m all warm and toasty, safe and snuggled in bed, as my little mare-friend would put it. And I should put it like her, really, as it’s all down to her.
It’s Fluttershy who has her soft little hooves wrapped around me, gently cuddling us together. It’s her soft chest that I can feel against my side, beating along in time with mine like a lullaby. It’s her cheek and her smile that I can feel laying across my heart. It’s her quiet, soothing little breaths that I can feel brushing through my fur, filling my nose with dewy grass and that warm, mousy smell that just makes me want to curl up!
But that’d mean I’d have to move her, even if I didn’t wake her up outright. And I’ve seen her like this enough to know that Celestia she is cute. No, adorable. Actually, that ain’t enough either. Apple Bloom, with that chipper smile and her eyes bright with a thousand questions, is adorable. Fluttershy, with her soft, whispery voice that’s like a cuddle around my ears, the way she hides under her mane and just peeks her little muzzle out, and that smile… Gol-darn it, she’s something else altogether…
And it isn’t just that, either. True, it probably wasn’t the right time to think about Fluttershy’s pert little rump when I was supposed to be rushing to her side and gently coaxing her out and reminding her that that horrible old storm’d have to get through me to even think of getting at her—and I did do all that—but…
Oh, dear Celestia , I’m tying myself in knots inside just thinking about her. I’m just going to remember that I’m the luckiest mare in Equestria and leave it there.
And to think that I was actually worried about telling my family about Fluttershy when we first got together. Me. The most dependable of ponies and somepony whose saved Equestria, worried . Well, actually, I wasn’t worried about my whole family. I knew Big Mac wouldn’t mind at all, and AB was bouncing around for days after she found out that she had a new sister, but Granny…
Granny’d met Fluttershy. Granny liked Fluttershy. They’d even spent a whole couple of afternoons baking pies and all sort of other goodies together for the harvest festival, and gotten on like a house on fire. But as pretty as Fluttershy is, that willowy pegasus body of hers ain’t prime applebucking material. Shoot, I can even picture her thinking about laying her hooves on nature.
And I wouldn’t have her any other way, mind.
That didn’t stop me from biting my lip and sweating the entire way over to Granny’s rocker, and that was after I’d downed about a quart of cider. And then when I told her… she just smiled at me and patted me on the head, saying how proud of me she was for finding somepony I was happy with…
Great. Now my eyes are getting too hot…
Still, I don’t know why I ever thought Granny wouldn’t be happy.
Although, I’ve probably got some explaining to do when they all get back…
I shift a little in bed, just enough to lay a hoof on my middle, and I find myself having to share space with Fluttershy’s.
It was going to happen eventually. With all of Fluttershy’s little animal friends holed up for the winter, she’d come over to stay with me. And being the pony I know she is and love, she couldn’t stop herself from helping out with all them little chores that me and Mac hadn’t gotten round to do. I can still see Granny’s smile when she found out that somepony’d finally cleaned out the old cutlery drawer…
Anyway, about a month ago it all came to a head: with snow piling up outside, no surplus apples to take to an emptying market, and no indoor chores, the whole family was sat around doing nothing.
That’d never sit well with Granny. Even if she’s doing it slowly, and with a couple of naps in the middle of it, there’s no way she wouldn’t be doing something . And since she, Mac and AB hadn’t been to Braeburn’s orchards yet, and AB hadn’t seen him since before she could talk, that’s where they went. That’s probably why I can hear the storm so loud, as a matter of fact: there’s none of Granny’s snores, and no little yelps of ‘wow ’ from AB as the thunder rolls on by…
Shoot, there go my eyes again.
I know they’ll be back for Hearth’s Warming Day. I know that. Ain’t too long to wait, now. Besides, Fluttershy’s been here to keep me company, and it’s sure been nice to spend some time together as mare-friends…
I rub my hoof across my… my tummy . Breaths catch in my nose, and my heart pulses just a little quicker as I feel it shift and roll. Fluttershy lets out a little groan.
Yeah… I’ve got a lot of explaining to do.
Particularly as to why I didn’t notice it sooner! Why I didn’t see Fluttershy making a stack of pancakes twice the size of normal for my breakfast. Why I didn’t see her baking a good three or four apple pies a day and only saving one slice for herself before giving me the rest. Why I didn’t say anything when I saw her with only her hindquarters poking out of a barrel four days after it’d been full. Why I didn’t notice when I couldn’t quite put on one of the sweaters Rarity’d knitted for all of us.
Actually, I kind of know why I didn’t notice then. Rarity’d said that those things had to be washed carefully or else they could shrink, and I don’t really know much about clothes.
And maybe I didn’t notice because, well… I was having such a nice time being with my mare-friend. Shucks, I never realised just how long it’s been since I could just relax without having to worry about what I should be doing instead. So we spent our time curled up next to each other by the fire downstairs, reading books and playing board games and doing all them Hearth’s Warming things, like Chevalades and Fiddlesticks and meeting under the mistletoe…
My cheeks burn up. Yeah… yeah, we did plenty of that. And I never did notice at the time just how much Fluttershy liked to keep her hooves on my sides…
But I know that the biggest part I’ve got to explain is… is why I haven’t stopped her.
I talked to her about it, definitely. I’d finally noticed my… my paunch after I got out of the shower about a week ago. I was towelling myself down good and proper; after all, even a lick of damp in this cold can give a pony proper chills. But then I felt my thigh shake.
Shake . Not just sink a little as I rubbed my hooves over it, like it normally did, or even feel a little soft like it did during a couple of other Hearth’s Warming times. No. It wobbled . And it jiggled and wobbled a couple of times after I took my hooves away.
It actually took the wind out of me for a moment. When I got my breath back, I stood up and took a gander in the mirror. Rarity’d have probably called it ‘inspecting the damage’, or something like that, but me… Well, I saw the round ball where there’d once been a belly worn flat by all my hard work, and I saw it hanging down partway to my knees. I’d turned around, and I could see just how thick my thighs had gotten; they were almost as big as Ma’s were!And my rump … at least I’d finally found out why I didn’t sit on the cushions anymore.
Shoot, when I looked down to see if my forelegs had packed anything on, I felt something bunch up underneath my chin. I don’t know anypony else who has a second chin!
But there was something I didn’t feel, though.
Something was telling me that I should’ve been angry. That there should’ve been a fire roaring through my belly, about as large as it had gotten, and that I should’ve been stomping my way down the stairs with stream flying out my nose, and that I should give Fluttershy a proper talking to! She’d taken away my figure! She’d been under-hoofed! She’d made me into a right porker!
But there weren’t anything like that.
Nah… I can’t really describe how I felt walking down those stairs. And I did walk, mind. I didn’t stomp or drag my hooves. I’m pretty sure I didn’t even frown.
Still, it looked like nopony’d told Fluttershy about that. When I walked into the room, my eyes wide and my jaw slack, she smiled up at me. But the second I touched a hoof to my belly and looked at her, her smile disappeared faster than varmints. All I saw was a flash of yellow and pink, and the room was empty. Somewhere upstairs a door slammed, and I had to let out a sigh.
I found her, eventually. It was pretty easy, actually; the instant my hoof so much as brushed the doorknob for AB’s room, she wailed… wailed that she was sorry…
I don’t ever want to hear a sound like that again. Or see what I did when I opened the door: my sweet-hearted mare-friend, her eyes red and raw and a damp spot by her muzzle, curled up as tight as a drum.
And shrinking away when I took a step nearer, whimpering.
I made sure my face was as… measured—I think that’s the right word—as I could, before telling her that I wasn’t mad.
And so we talked about it, the same way we’d talked through any other problem we’d had. Just like when she had to ask me to stay away from her cottage for a few days because I was getting too rowdy for some of her more delicate animals, or when I’d had to talk to her about letting me get out of her hooves and of bed before noon so I could go to work.
I told her how I felt. Shucks, I don’t remember exactly what I said to her; I don’t look back at Fluttershy bawling her eyes out too fondly. But I do remember saying over and over again, because she kept asking, that I wasn’t angry with her. I wasn’t even angry that she’d gone behind my back, in a way, and it hadn’t crossed my mind then just how many apples I’d stuffed down my gullet. I just wanted to know why …
And she told me.
And I do remember what she said…
“Applejack…” she says, looking firmly at the bedcovers. “I’ve been a very naughty pony.”
She looks straight at me, her eyes stopping only for a moment on my belly. I see them widen. “I’ve always wanted a… a pudgy special somepony. Not obese, not so that it’s… it’s dangerous, but just… pudgy.” A little smile creeps onto her muzzle. “I don’t know why, though…” She traces a hoof around the covers, her eyes focussing on that again. “Everypony I’ve ever been told was pretty… all those ponies who I modelled with… they were always skinny and thin and… and I never thought they…”
She blushes, her mane falling back over her eyes. I take a step closer.
She bursts back out. “They never made me feel all squiggly inside!”
I stop. Whoa Nelly… this filly’s gonna’ give me a heart-attack someday!
Fluttershy continues. “But whenever I saw somepony with… um, with a bit of weight to them… th-that always did… um… that!” she finally squeaks out.
I can’t help but smile at her blush.
“And then when I found some of your old Hearth’s Warming pictures and I saw that you, um… fill out a little over the holidays, and I found out that we’d be alone this year…”
She disappears behind her mane again. This time, I’m by the bedside in a heartbeat.
“I’m sorry, Applejack,” she croaks. “I’ve been a terrible, naughty mare-friend. I should never have gone behind your back, I… I…”
She sinks her muzzle into the bed. I can feel my heart do the same in my chest.
“You should hate me.”
“I don’t.”
I can see her muzzle poke into her mane, but not all the way through it. With a light smile, I part her hair with a hoof.
And I nearly have to bite my lip when I see how red her eyes have gotten.
“’Shy… yeah, you should’ve talked to me about this. But I don’t hate you. Shucks, you’re my mare-friend, and one of the greatest friends a pony could ask for!” I run my hoof between her ears, taking her mane back with it. “I couldn’t hate you.”
Fluttershy’s smile holds for only a couple of moments, disappearing again when her eyes dart to my belly.
“But… but what about…?”
I couldn’t answer then.
Land sakes, I don’t even think I cananswer now , if I’m being honest. I mean, sometimes I do really, really like how I feel. Maybe it’s just the fact that Fluttershy likes using my belly as a pillow, but there’s something… nice about being this soft, and I can’t quite put my hoof on what exactly it is. Then again, most of the time I don’t even notice it. Ain’t exactly like I lost all my muscles over the last few weeks, even if I can’t see most of them anymore.
But I can say one thing honestly: I haven’t not liked my new size yet. Maybe that’ll change next applebuck season, or even just when the planting season starts again, but for now… I can’t rightly say that I’ve had any problem being a little bigger.
And that’s what I told Fluttershy. After she’d calmed down and let me dry her eyes, I let her know how I felt about it all. She kept her eyes stuck to the floor when I said I was still annoyed with her that she did all of this without even speaking to me first.
But then her eyes lit up when I said how I thought we could work this out…
“Fluttershy, darlin’… I know you never meant anythin’ bad t’happen. I know I like to go on about how honesty’s the best way, but… I can understand why you didn’t say anything to me…”
She tear her eyes away from the ground, pointing them straight at mine. A little way below, a tiny smile makes itself at home. “Really?”
I send back a much bigger one of my own. “Yup. Shoot, sugarcube, I don’t tell you about how wild them fine flanks o’yours make me feel .”
I bury my muzzle into her sides, nuzzling deeply as she bounces up and down with giggles.
Eventually, I manage to pull myself away. Just about. “You made a mistake, sugar-cube. Ain’t too much harm done.” I bend over to peck her cheek. “I can forgive you, so long as you promise to be honest with me from now on.”
A sniff pulls my eyes wide, but they land on an even bigger smile. “Of course I will, Applejack.” She swishes her nose softly against mine, before her smile shrinks again. “But does this mean —”
“I ain’t done yet, darlin’.” I can practically feel my eyes glinting.
“Oh, um…” Fluttershy falls a little behind her mane again. I smirk.
“If you’re gonna’ be honest with me, sugar, then I’m gonna’ be honest with you…” I scoot a little closer to her, wrapping a hoof around her side. “And the honest truth is… I don’t really know how to feel about… about…” I rub a hoof against my belly.
Whoa. How the hay did I not notice that before?
I see Fluttershy’s eyes glued to every wobble, and my smirk deepens. “But I do know somepony very special t’me, and I know that she loves it… And I’m more than happy when I see that she’s happy…”
Fluttershy peers out from behind her mane again, locking eyes with mine. For a good minute she just looks at me, her eyes wide and shining, her lips trembling and just itching to smile.
I nod.
And the next thing I see is soft pink.
We stayed in that hug for I don’t know how long, that morning; me with my hooves gently wrapped around her head, her with hers squeezing around my middle, and not just because of how much wider it’d gotten. He-he, I could hear her giggling. And I could definitely feel her burying her muzzle into my belly.
Still, we broke apart in time for something that made Fluttershy let out one of her little squeals: lunch time.
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t exactly bounding downstairs after her rump, despite her bouncing and prancing the whole way down. After all, I’d just given her free reign to try and fill me up, pretty much. I could’ve stopped eating at any time before I knew, and I never did stop until my plate was clear…
But I was wrong. Like she said, Fluttershy wanted me pudgy , not a whale. If anything, I think she made fewer sandwiches and served up smaller slices of pie than she had the day before. Still, it weren’t like I was being starved at all: by the time I collapsed onto the sofa for a power-nap, I reckon I’d still eaten more than I would for lunch during applebuck season. And I was using all that energy and food to laze about on my rump, same as the last few weeks.
Only with one difference. This time, Fluttershy curled up next to me, laying her head on my belly. I cracked open an eye, and I couldn’t help but notice she wore the same small, tender smile as when we first found each other.
The rest of last week carried on pretty much like that one lunch. I’ve probably been eating less than I did in the weeks before, but I’m still growing. I’m sure my backside’s started to stick out behind me, and I couldn’t even get that sweater of mine past my barrel yesterday morning. Hay, I even tried on my old plough harness a couple of days ago—with Fluttershy smiling away to my side—and I could still feel it pinch me, even when I’d loosened the straps…
Actually, maybe it’s not too much of a bad thing that I’m starting to top out.
And Fluttershy… I can’t even describe what she’s been like this past week. Every spare moment she’s been by my side. Actually, that ain’t too different to before. But now she’s a whole lot more… cuddly. I can’t remember the last time I lay down without her taking the chance to rub my tummy, to feel it squish and roll under her hooves. Whenever we read together next to the fire, she’s always got one hoof on her book and the other on my side, stroking away all nice and gentle.
Shoot, last night I felt her pinch my rump .
And then at mealtimes… Hoo-eee. Fluttershy might not cook up so much for me to eat as she used to, but dang does that filly make it last. I don’t know how she does it, but she does this… something with her voice. She makes it go a little bit… husky . I think that’s the right word.
She’ll park her chair right next to mine—heck, sometimes she’ll sit right there on the floor, so she can get right up close to my belly. And then while I’m ploughing my way through her latest desserts, and my mare-friend can cook , she’ll have her hooves all over me. Rubbing and stroking and teasing at my tummy, saying just how soft I am , or how nice it feels to cuddle up to me , or how great a mare-friend I am , or asking me just how much I love her cooking , with all of her thick, but fluffy breads , and her rich, zesty pastas , or her zap-apple cakes , with just the right amount of jam so that they tingle all the way to my tummy …
Oh Nelly…
I take a deep breath, and those tingles in my middle slowly fade. I let the air out again.
Maybe I’m enjoying all this a little more than I thought…
And now that I think about it, I’m alright with that.
Really. Sure, I may be have those empty barrels looming over me for when the rest of the family gets back, and how they’re going to react when they see me. Plus, I ain’t told any of my friends; I’d love to see Dash’s face when I challenge her to an Iron Pony contest.
Oh yeah, and I’d probably win it, too.
Course, I might not be able to jump as high I used to, and all this weight’ll be a killer on the long runs, but I can train to beat that. Underneath all this fat, I’m still the same pony that took home all those medals at the rodeo. I can still applebuck like the best. I still dragged our Hearth’s Warming tree up from the valley by myself . And that was the twenty-five-hoofer going by the gate.
Yeah… I think I’m alright with my life at the moment.
Just then, Fluttershy gives a little snore, and pushes her muzzle deeper into my tummy.
My eyes go warm again.
Scratch what I thought. I’m more than alright .
