THE CRUSHING TRUTH

Dream woke up to a rather chilly morning.  she got up and did her hair and then looked out the window and noticed with extreme joy "SNOW!  THERE IS SNOW!"  she hopped and jumped around happy as could be. Somber and Fluttershy smiled at each other and waited for there happy little filly to come down.  Dream was so excited she hopped down the stairs and tripped on the last 8 steps and was sent rolling down to the bottom.  Somber rans over to her and picked her dazed body up "Are you ok?"  he asked as he sat back down next to fluttershy on the couch.  Dream nodded and rolled over so she was laying stretched across her fathers and mothers laps.  "did you guys see the snow?!"  she asked a big smile on her face.  "yes we have dream"  Fluttershy said as she brushed dreams mane and she opened her wings and wrapped Somber and Dream in them holding them for warmth.  "i even made and smow sculpture of us all in the snow"  Somber said a grin on his face.  Dream opened up her wings and fluttered around the room hovering and going in circles.  "i wana make an igloo can i can i can i?!?!"  Dream pleaded.  "yes you may but stay close to the house i dont want you wandering off to far in this cold"  Fluttershy said with a worried face.  "yay thank you"  Dream said as she bolted out the door.  "i hope she dosnt get to cold... maybe i should get her coat or...:  Somber puts a hoof on fluttershys mouth.  "shh flutter darling she is very capable of handling her self out side"  he said lowering his hoof.  "b-but what if she gets cold or hurt or...mmm"  Somber leans in and kisses her lips silencing her.

Dream rolled around in her igloo and the snow laughing.  "i love snow"  she stated to know one in particular not knowing that there were ponie sout side waiting to greet her.  "BAM!"  shouted teal as her snowball hits Dream in the face.  "got you good there!"  a barrage of snowballs go flying towards a stunned and snow covered Dream.  "w-what? AHH!"  she yells as the masive amount of 15 or more ponies snowballs hit her in the head side and wings.  "he-hey who hit me?"  teal shouted as she wipes snow from her mane. "hahaha"  laughs a pony as he runs out from behind a bush and dives into the igloo.  "wh-what?  who?!"  shouted on of the ponies from the group. Dream runs into th eigloo to hide from the second barrage of snowballs and to find out who her ally was.  "Dream how you doing?"  flare said as he rapidly packs more and more snowballs.  "F-Flare?  w-why are you h-here?"  her voice shaky and soft from the cold and the excitement of being in the igloo alone with Flare Spark. "i saw you needed help so i ran over here to help the damsel in distress"  flare looks up and smiles at Dream as a snowballs goes flying through the igloo entrance and hits flare in the ear.  "now if you could lend a hoof and help me get out of this mess"  Dream nods and starts to throw snow balls out of the door using her wings to lob them far and fast.  "sorry about the igloo"  flare says.  "wh-what?"  Dream says as she looks at flare stand up and break the roof throwing snowballs out and ducking back in to avoid being hit.  "we will get you next time Dream"  as the group runs away. Dream smiles and hugs Flare "th-thanks" Flare hugs back and then lets go "no problem".  "h-hey Flare...um"  dream says quietly making up her mind to tell him how she feels towards him.  "Flare?!  Flare were did you go?!"  says a pony from out side the igloo.  "ill be there in a minute!"  he yells back.  "sorry i gata go. my special somepony is looking for me".  Flare hugs Dream then bolts out of the igloo and Dream is left stunned.  "s-special s-somepony..." she can hear the two kiss and then silence as they trot away.  Dream is left sitting in the igloo alone, covered in snow, crying and broken hearted.

"Dream please come down for dinner!"  Somber yelled up the stairs to her.  "ok..."  Dream replied in a less than sad tone of voice.  Fluttershy trots over to Dream and nuzzles her cheek.  "whats wrong sweet heart?  you have been acting so sad and strange ever since that snow day"  Fluttershy stated in a concerned mothers voice.  "its nothing mother".  Somber trotted over to the table and sat down pushing some fruit bowls to Fluttershy and Dream.  "thanks honey"  Fluttershy said with a smile.  Dream just poked at her food and then put her head down on the table.  Somber and Fluttershy exchanged very worried and nevus glances then ate there fruit.  Dream got up from the table and trotted back to her room not even taking one bite from her food.  "Somber i think something is wrong with Dream"  Fluttershy said tearing up.   "hey now darling don't cry."  Somber said as he trotted over to Fluttershy and nuzzled her cheek softly.  "yea i think so too.  normally she would have gobbled that fruit that you prepared in about 10 seconds flat"  Somber said with a smile.  "thanks honey"  she got up and wiped the tear from her eye and hugged him tightly. "i think im going to go and check on her make sure she is alright"  Fluttershy said as she went up stairs.  Dream laying on her bed cried softly into her pillow her mind and heart still destroyed from the cold realization that she missed out on her chance. "dream darling? A-are you ok" fluttershy said softly knocking on the door softly.  "I'm fine mother just tired" dream said doing her best not to sound sad and cheery. "ok well if you need anything just let us know".  Fluttershy trotted down stairs and looked at Somber eyes teary.  "S-she is lying" fluttershy rushed towards somber and hugged him tightly. "there there dear" somber said in a hushed calming voice "she is a teen it's normal for them to go through these phases". Fluttershy sniffed and nuzzled Sombers neck and into his mane. Dream layed up stairs murmering to herself. "I'm not good enough for him. I'm not good enough for any one. N-no one loves me". Dream burried her face into her pillow and let out a loud cry of frustration and fell asleep. Somber holds fluttershy in his lap brushing her mane. "she will be fine just give her time. We all get confussed some times". Fluttershy curls up in his lap and cries softly. "I know but I'm worried. This just feels like its something more"
