Chapters The Legend of Solar Flare and Nightmare Moon
Twilight gazed up from her Book of Eternal Legend. Her eyes twinkled as she and her friends watched as half of the Equestrian sky turned a blue violet, with stars all coming to form a crescent moon. The clouds of the sun caught to a firey red from the sun, all coming to cover the sun as the stars had the moon.
The eight highest ponies glanced from one another, never leaving more than five seconds to keep watch on the stars and clouds. They had been waiting days to let the two out of their prisons. Every night, Luna could feel Nightmare glaring at her from the moon, begging to be let out. This was also true with Celestia as Flare yelled and sometimes cursed at the royal to let her out soon. Sometimes, even though it wasn't their place, they would yell at the opposite sister, like Flare yelling at Luna or Nightmare screeching to Celestia. Sometimes they would gang up on one sister to be free. They would sleep eventually, but not for long. Only about ten hours. Celestia would have nightmares about Nightmare Moon when she slept at night. 'Out...out...OUT!' Nightmare Moon would beg and scream to Celestia, even waking the Solar Princess most evenings. When Luna was slumbering during the period of the day, Solar Flare would be in her dreams, even though it was not her place. 'Out or else! Out or else. OUT. OR. ELSE.' Solar Flare would yell to her.
"Well, ladies, this is it," Celestia spoke as she turned to Luna.
They gazed at each other, then nodded. Uniting their magic in the center of Canterlot, they opened two giant portals. Luna opened a flaming red and orange portal, while Celestia let a blue violet swirling hole open in front of them. They gazed at each other, almost as if they were talking with their minds.
After seconds that seemed eternal, they heard booms, loud cracks of thunder and lightning; though there was no cloud in the sky. Nor the sun. Nor the moon. Everypony fixated their gazes on the sky, then heard the growls of determined mares. The ponies' looks cast a glare of fear on two ponies, mares. They were tall and thin. One, red and a mane of flames, stood with a grin, the sun rising behind her.
"We are Solar Flare," the burning mare boomed, in the royal Canterlot voice. She made a peculiar call and a bone pheonix came to her side. With a similar call, it turned to dust, presumed dead. Though most knew it was the nature of a bone pheonix. Solar Flare glared at the civilians, a cartoony smile with sharp teeth that came to a fine point in a grin.
The other, a blue mare with flowing blue violet hair, stood, the opposite of the other, a face with anger, not fiendish happiness. Her hair seemed to be rushing water, though who were brave enought to venture forward caught that it was just the stars in her mane, screaming to move out of her mane, and back into the sky.
The one called Solar Flare nudged her with a boney elbow and the mare used a similar voice. "And we are Nightmare Moon," She spoke with a sigh.
"Sisters," the royal good princesses spoke, "please, follow, unless you wish to leave, banished to your homes for another thousand years. On your planets of either burning sands or barren rocks."
The two taller mares, presumed to be bad, stepped forward and bowed their heads in perfect synch. "Princesses, we live to please. We wish not to return to thine own body, no more than two beings." They spoke in equal tones, sounding as beautiful as Chrysalis' doubled voice. The original princesses smiled, and bowed to the others.
"Our subjects, please leave us be, we wish to return favors of stories to thines princesses and magic users. The Elements, we mean," Flare spoke.
They called the other Nightmare.
The ones called by the four beings of higher power indicated for the Elements to follow. After cantering in silence behind the walking taller beings, they stopped. Celestia walked in front, then Luna, the Flare, then Nightmare, then Twilight and friends. They walked into a royal sitting room. Everypony, well, every royal pony sat elegantly, while the lessers plopped down rudely.
They all exchanged glances as if to say, 'Shall we begin?'
Once everypony was done with intro's of the new beings on their planet, the tallest mares started to speak, but were interupted first.
"Oh! Sorry! Well, I was wondering... how do you all relate exactly?" Twilight asked, apologzing.
Flare sighed and glanced at the other royals, then spoke. "We are parts of Celestia and Luna's souls. They once held resentment in their hearts, once for ponies who ignored the beauty of the night, the other neglected by ponies who loathed the sun. We broke off from their souls, becoming evil beings. We whilst talk about that subject later, my little ponies. We, we were evil. We wish not to recall it now, instead talk of the wastelands we t'were banished upon." Flare indicated.
Twilight giggled, then spoke again, "Uh, that kind of does not answer my question, and the royal we and stuff...."
"Sisters, this is a home where we no longer use that voice and language." Celestia said cheerily.
"Ah, we- I, see. well, Twilight. These two became us. Then since we frightened the ponies we love and cherish to have, we rised against each other. We were still evil, Nightmare and I, but when banished by our twins if you will, we had years to think. Centuries. We return happy to serve them in any way possible," Flare ended with a hard stamp of the hoof.
Nightmare started to speak up. "How about a story, my little ponies?"

Chapter 2: The Story Part 1
"Ahem," Nightmare's voice boomed, and echoed from the position of the walls, bouncing into everyponies ears. "Now, I will begin my story about that damned barren wasteland we call a moon," She spoke as she dropped two sugar cubes into her tea, then were spun violently in a storm of the metallic spoon.
Nightmare had just lost the fight with Celestia and Luna. She opened her eyes. There were only one companion for that thousand year imprisonment: the rocks. Nightmare found herself counting the days until she left. She studied the stars while upon the barren land. She would vocalize when she saw Canterlot, screaming for help. She could see the fight of Solar Flare and the Princesses. Volcanoes were erupting. Sometimes she would be over the Wastelands, then over the less than modern Equestria. "Help!" Nightmare would scream in her beautiful voice. Once Flare was banished, they could speak. Yet they rarely spoke. Only to talk about the rulers. If they got in a fight, Nightmare would force the moon over the sun, causing an eclipse. She would talk to Luna when she got lonely, the only other moon figure to communicate with. After some centuries, she started to be angered. She would scream at the princesses and their precious ponies, invading their dreams, scaring the little ponies. She would move the stars with Luna in an effort to escape. Nightmare thought about her purpose, and her reason for banishment. Soon she realized, I deserve to be up here, all alone. She stopped screaming at the princesses. She stopped talking to Flare. She slept only duing the sun's rain on the planet, then got up and moved the constellations she worked on with her heart and soul into place. Moving the moon along with them caused greater stress. Soon she had to reach to Luna for help on moving them, but said 'No,' to moving her hard worked on constellations.
'I have worked my hooves to the bone to make these stars, to put them in place. To make them create beautiful pictures in fillies and colts' heads!' She would say with anger to Luna.
But one night, no constellations appeared. The moongazing ponies would ask Luna why they hadn't come out. She would always say the same thing: 'I-I don't know,' One night they were gone, she called to Nightmare Moon.
'Why, sister? Why? Why are the beautiful stars in not their places, but not even in the night's air?!' Luna would beg, crying for them to be back for the civilians.
'Soon, Luna, soon,' Nightmare would speak soothingly.
After weeks of no stars, she finally made them emerge. But they were different. There- there were more. And different colors too! Violets, magentas, blues, greens, reds, all colors! But this took a toll on our sweet Nightmare. She used to speak in a harmonic voice, bringing the night air. But now, now, her voice sounded of broken glass. The beauty stripped away. Luna, after talking with Celestia, had used a spell to give away power. Luna heaved great power off and saved Nightmare from the brink of death. But Luna was bedridden. Nightmare felt bad. She took the stars away again, and after two centuries of Nightmare Night's power, returned it to Luna. She was better, then looked to the stars as Nightmare instructed. She eyes went wide and teary, Celestia by her side, wiping them away with a yellowed magic supporting the towel, and a white cream wing over her back.
Nightmare smiled and looked at her creations. The stars spelled out something wonderful: Celestia, Luna, forgive me. The sisters spoke together in harmony: We forgive you, Nightmare Moon.

Chapter 3: The Story Part 2
Flare clapped her hooves together strong and loud as Nightmare ended her story. The clap of the hooves sent an eruption of sound blazing through the room, shaking pictures that were hung onto their sides and sending pots nearly shattering if not for unicorns and alicorns magics.
"That was a short story for it being a thousand years and all," Rainbow spoke softly, not wanting to anger any goddess present.
Then they heard snoring. All eyes were pointed directly at Fluttershy. Solar Flare was angered and showed her cartoony smile to the mare. She opened her eyes.
"O-Oh d-d-de-ar!" she squeaked out.
Celestia and Luna along with Nightmare used their magic to pull her by her breastplate to sit back down.
Flare sighed. "Okay, ready for a better story?"
WARNING: GORE (KIND OF)
Flare skidded along the gravel in the royal parking for carriages. She looked up at the two sisters whom defeated her opposite easily. She glared and sneered, then got up, poised for another attack on them. The sisters had magic surrounding them, like an aura. She looked into the flame and water pouring off of their manes, then felt a searing pain on the right side of her body. She looked down only to vomit. The sisters had distracted her with a show-and-tell-spell, only for Princess Miamore Cadenza to take about seventeen jabs with her horn into her rib cage, piercing her heart, lungs, and a couple other organs. The sisters and niece looked down to her, and united their power and she felt burning sensations all over her body. She closed her eyes for what she felt would be the last time. But she still had fight in her.
"I w-will come b-back a-an-and make you pay!" Flare yelled and screamed and kicked, then took her last breath, and closed her flaming eyes.
Flare felt warm. Warm like how she had fought with the princesses souls, then became a new being. She opened her eyes only to see a white desert in front of her. She looked around, only sand, everywhere. She looked straight ahead and saw the moon. In a couple centuries she could talk to her sister, plotting to escape. Soon, though, stopped talking to her. She would try to engage her in chit chat, but Nightmare Moon only gave a couple words as a sorry excuse for an answer: I'm done with this. With you.
From then on, Solar Flare would harass the princesses and her betraying little sister, only to be left, not talked to.
She would gaze down at the planet, and think, the sky is always clear. I feel bad making my little ponies hot.... She gathered up energy and made foamy puffs of air, which Celestia later named clouds. Flare could hear the pleas of the colts, fillies, mares, and stallions alike, for them to be shaped. She would shape them like ponies or make letters. Then she took the clouds away. Ponies would beg Celestia to return them but she would simply say: I can't.
'Can you please bring the clouds back, or are you planning something big like Nightmare Moon?' Celestia would ask.
'With time, sister, with time,' would be her response every time.
After 5 centuries of gathering power from Solar Day and keeping the clouds from her home planet Animailia, she finally returned them to the surface. New scientists were befuddled, as they were black or red or orange. She explained to Celestia: The whispy ones are cirrus. The puffy ones are cumulus. The dark ones are stratus, and then red and blue ones represent us as a family maybe once again?
After another seven hundred years, Celestia and Luna gazed at the moon, this time with Nightmare's attention, the three out of four sisters spoke: All is forgiven, Princess Solar Flare.
Solar Flare ended her story and looked at the rooms occupents. All were staring into her eyes, begging for more details.
Rainbow Dash spoke up first.
"So, how was the battle? How'd you fight and all that junk?" she asked.
The two demon like mares exchanged glances and smiled and opened their mouths. "Bathroom break!"
In a flash of blue and red magic they were gone, while the two princesses giggled to each other as their twins had left.
"I think we can all use some sleep, it is already dark outside," Luna spoke in her elegant voice. The ponies let out an exaggerated sigh and clip clopped back to their rooms.
Twilight and her friends looked around their room. It had two three story bunk beds. They all shrugged to each other, not sure of what to do. The pegasi slept on the top bunks, the unicorns in the middle, and the earth mares on the bottom bunks.
Celestia and Luna found Solar Flare and Nightmare Moon in the stained glass hall. They were staring at a particular piece. It showed a picture of the princesses using magic to banish them to the sun and moon. As the original princesses walked closer, they caught the glints and glimmers of silver tears streaming their cheeks, leaving darker stains in their fur. Luna then prodded Celestia.
"Ahem, are you mares okay?" she questioned the crying females.
"Heh-hem. Uhm, we-I-both of us are okay, just recalling old stories," Nightmare spoke for the two.
Flare hung her head, her long elegant neck weeping like a willow. In a burst of flaming magic she teleported to her old room. It had all of her clothes and furniture. The flame red bed and orange curtains hanging. Her scrolls were still there too. She recalled the time when Celestia had her room built when Solar Flare had come to her mind, as her opposite. They would sit in this room, and think of ways to make it hotter so ponies would appreciate the sun more. Flare sighed, let out a moan, and went to bed, after wiping of a sheet of dust.
Nightmare gazed at the princesses, then blue-violet magic burst around her, leaving nothing behind but a sigh and a tear.
In her old room, Nightmare was looking at the simplicity of it. The twin violet bed. The planets in their order. She could recall the names. Omega, Turura, Setsasuna, Animalia, Qinchen, and lastly Vrintsion. She clopped over to her bed, wiping the dust off with magic, then lay on it, crying a bit then finally to sleep.
Celestia gazed at Luna and they teleported to their rooms, Celestia sleeping in her bright pastel bed.
Luna walked out of her room and onto her balcony. She watched the skies all night and always had her vigilant gaze fixated on the constellation she favored: Love.
The Legend of Solar Flare and Nightmare Moon
Chapter 4: Will The Battle Be Told?
Rainbow Dash was the first at the royal table. In fact, she had never left. Or went to sleep. Everyponyelse came in soon enough but the royals had yet to come. Fluttershy came in first.
"Dash? You never left?" Shy asked her.
"Nope," Dash replied.
Later Applejack and Rarity came in and exchanged glances.
"Uh, whut?"
"Dear, did you even go to bed?"
Pinkie Pie came in with some balloons and a picture she had drawn.
"Lookie here guys! I drew a picture! It has all of us in it!"
The five mares sat in silence then Twilight came in.
"There's the newest Alicorn!" Rainbow said. "We have'ta fly together soon!"
Twi blushed and sat down, folding her wings in as she did so.
The Princesses came in a while after.
"Sorry we are late," Celestia apologized. "These two tried to play hookie."
This got a sheepish smile from the two tallest mares. Once everypony sat down and finished eating they all walked out into the sun Celestia and Solar Flare brought up together.
"Um, Princesses, friends," Pinkie began."I drew a picture!" She held up a poorly drawn picture and smiled a big, expecting smile.
"I love it?" Shy more-than-answered, more of a question.
"It's very nice Pinkie," Twilight said with a smile that was mostly believable.
"Dear, I love the dresses you put us in," Rarity spoke.
"Those aren't dresses though..." Pinkie sighed. "You guys don't like it."
"Now Pinks, don't go bein all sad on us! Ah for one thank y'all did a nice thang fur us!" A.J. tried to cheer her up. Pinkie had a slightly bigger smile.
The princesses all agreed it was a cute thought and picture.
"Annnyyyyywhoooooo, story time?" Rainbow asked, begging the princesses.
"I suppose," Nightmare Moon spoke. " Everypony sit down and I will tell the tale of my defeat."
Nightmare opened her eyes. She looked at her twin, Luna. They were both in their teens.
"Let's do something fun," Nightmare whispered to Luna. Luna nodded.
They went to Celestia and woke her up with a shock of static electricity. Nightmare then hid in the shadows.
"Luna! No, you do not do that to your big sister!"
"B-But it w-was Nightm-"
"NO! No lying to me Luna. Go to your room!"
Luna sulked to her room and yelled at Nightmare Moon.
"You got me in trouble!"
"Yes, but it was fun,"
"Nighty! That's not the point! I do not like you anymore!"
Nightmare's slited pupils shrank in anger and betrayal and she hissed. Luna did not see her again. Not until she was 500 years older.
"Nightmare! Please, be good, we won't have to do this!" Luna begged her counterpart.
"No! No, Luna. Thou has't bertrayed us for the last time," The word last was emphasised with a stamp of the hoof. This was when the royal 'we' and 'thou' were used.
Luna started to fire at Nightmare, singing her fur. Nightmare returned the favor with icey spikes pounding out of the ground and knocked Luna down. As soon as Luna's head hit the ground Nightmare rose an icey spear and stabbed her through the chest. Luna's body recoiled in response to the pain. She shrieked very loud, piercing Celestia's ears. Celestia came to her aide and shot flames towards Nightmare, like a wave a surfer would ride, if it were made of water and not fire.
"We banish thee to the place thou deserves to be, the new place th-"
Celestia was cut off from a spike of rock jabbing though her flank and out the other side. She turned to see Solar Flare. Celestia ordered Cadence to heal Luna along with other healers. Celestia was forced to retreat to restart the fight with Solar Flare.
Luna was us soon, within about twenty minutes. She encased Nightmare Moon in ice, then added a layer of rock and sand. After she added water to strengthen the mix, she spoke to the abomination.
"Thou tricked us. We will never forgive thou. We must make a new world with nopony to communicate with. We hereby banish you to the moon in the name of Equestria!" Equestria had an effect of lightning and thunder behind her. She jutted nineteen spikes of ice and rock through Nightmare Moon. Nightmare jolted from the pain shrieking a demonic sound. As the next spell left her horn, Nightmare vanished into a blue-violet haze with stars inside, them moving up to a rock in the sky that nopony had ever seen before. As Nightmare Moon arrived, everypony could see the face of the mare in the moon.
"The End," Nightmare Moon spoke.
