CMC Adventures: The Dance

Cheerilee sat in her classroom making arrangements for the upcoming dance when a thought came to mind,

"Hmm, I'm going to need to make sure this dance goes smoothly, I'll be around watching everything but, maybe I should find another pony to help me keep watch over everypony." Many different ponies came to mind that could help watch over all of her students but, she wanted to have fun on that night too,

"Oooh I know the perfect stallion to help me watch over them all.” Cheerilee walked out of her classroom and began heading to Sweet Apple Acres  “I'll ask Big Mac if he can help.".

The walk over to the Apples farm wasn't too long, as the school was fairly close by, as she walked the thought of having Big Mac around at the dance was exciting. "I hope he agrees to help, as much as I love my students it would get boring if I didn't have somepony to talk to." Cheerilee continued walking when she heard a voice call out to her, she turned around to find a white unicorn with a wild blue mane calling to her.

"Hey Cheerilee where're you off to?" The unicorn slowed down next to her catching her breath.

"Oh hello Vinyl I was just on my way to ask Big Macintosh if he would like to help me watch over the school dance that's coming up,"

Vinyl magically lifts her glasses off, "So” She starts smugly “ you're just going to ask him to watch over the dance with you... nothing else?" waggling her eyebrows suggestively.

Cheerilee looked at Vinyl with a raised brow, "yes why?” She replies oblivious to the implications of her friends words “ is there something wrong with that?"

Vinyl rolled her eye's "Yes there is, wouldn't  you rather, oh I don't know, ask to dance with him? I mean, it’s no big secret  you like him, so why not?"

Cheerilee blushed, "Well I suppose we could dance on the night” she shakes her head quickly “but no, no, I'm asking him to help me watch over the students, nothing more."

"Yea, yea, anyways, I wanted to ask you if I could provide the music for the dance, I mean you want to dance to be fun right, so why not let a DJ take care of the music?" Vinyl looked at Cheerilee with a wide and hopeful smile.

"Well I guess it would be better having a more current music act at the dance," Vinyl's eye's lit up "So does that mean?" She leads expectantly,

Cheerilee let out a sigh, "Sure Vinyl, you can handle the music."

Vinyl hoofpumped, "YES! I'm going to find my best music for this, I'll see you later Cheerilee," Vinyl began running back in the direction of her home as she said goodbye.

Cheerilee simply rolled her eye's and smiled at her friends enthusiasm, "I better hurry and get to Sweet Apple Acres before the sun goes down." Cheerilee picked up her pace and headed towards the farm.

Cheerilee arrived at the farm house just as Big Mac was getting back and called out to him, "BIG MAC!, did you just get back from the orchard?"

Big Macintosh looked at her and simply said "Eeyup,"

There was a brief silence between the two, "Uhh, did ya need something Miss Cheerilee?"

Cheerilee quickly remembered why she stopped by Sweet Apple Acres. "Yes I was wondering if you would come to the dance with me next week?" Cheerilee blushed as she realised what she said, "I-i-i mean to help me look over the students there." Nervously laughing as she clarified.

Big Macintosh took a moment , but eventually smiled and said, "Eeyup."  Cheerilee smiled, glad that her slip up didn't affect his decision,

"That's great, thank you. Well I better get going before it gets too dark out, I'll see you later," Cheerilee happily trotted away towards her home.

He waved goodbye to her until he heard somepony behind him speak, "So ya got a date for the dance next week ay?" He turned around to see his sister Applejack, "Well do ya?"

Big Macintosh looked back at Cheerilee who was walking away, smiling he replied "Eeyup."
