The Wonders of Skyrim
Chapter 10 - The Ice Dragon
Previous ChapterNext ChapterNarsis and I bolted of the kitchen to hear screaming villagers and something dark passing over the curtains of the giant tree. I leapt out of bed, he followed suit, we were soon met by a very confused Twilight. I felt rather then heard, the mini earthquake that always accompanied a landing dragon. I felt a sense of deja vu, then I remembered the previous dragon. This was exactly how I met the first one that tried to destroy Ponyville. 'Why couldn't they just leave this settlement alone?' I thought to myself.
Narsis beat me to the door and pulled it open, only to be greeted by an annoyed ice-y blue dragon, his back held black dorsal spines that quivered every time a pony gave a scream of terror. I brushed past a dumbstruck Narsis, I halted in front of the dragon, and said, "Dovah! State your business here!" I narrowed my eyes, the dragon stared me, intelligence beyond it's years sparkled in those teal eyes. It spoke in a shrill yet deep voice unlike most dragons, "Dovahkiin, I do not bring harm to these peaceful folk or of thy, but I wish to seek allegiance with the dragonborn, it has come to my understanding that you will wipe out the existence of dragons, I have realized I do not wish for such a fate." This sounded a bit too good to be true, I tested this theory by saying, "Well, why would you come out of the blue now? Why not earlier? Also how did you even find me, I honestly thought I wasn't in Skyrim anymore." The dragon grunted, "Dovahkiin, I used to think we would over power and conquer once more, but I have been proven wrong. You are on the border Skyrim, more on the outskirts between there and here. All dragons have a sixth sense, we can sense a dragonborn within a 13 mile, 14 meters, 2 feet, 9 inch, 5 centimeter radius of our body." I was a bit surprised about the sixth sense and where I was, as the dragon said this Odahviing came flying over, his right wing was torn and blood flew freely from slashes along his muzzle and body.
Odahviing thumped to the ground instead of a graceful landing as before. As he landed I had noticed that the ice dragon had long gashes along its side that were previously hidden by its wings. When the ice dragon spotted Odahviing next to him he growled and was about to leap on the blood red, but I had just managed to hold him back with telekinesis, he growled and snapped at Odahviing who oddly flinched back. I felt my energy depleting swiftly, I dropped the magical grip and screamed at the aquamarine reptile, "What did you do to Odahviing?!?!" He looked over at me with a look of shock upon his muzzle, he was about to respond when Odaviing spoke with venom laced in his voice, "I am sorry Dovahkiin. I have failed you, this mere frost dragon has bested me. I cannot do as you so wish." While he said this I drank a magicka potion and healed Odahviing, I glared at the frost dragon and finally asked, "What is your name Dovah?" I said in a rather resounding tone, all the while Narsis, Twilight and a group of ponies came over to watch. A few had awe on their face, others shock and fear, while some just pure bewilderment. He spoke rather thoughtfully, like his name carried great meaning, "Diinslenul" I thought for a moment, that translated to Freeze, Flesh, Eternity. "A fitting name for a frost dragon is it not?" Diinslenul spoke out rather happily, I didn't heal his wounds partially because they weren't big, and because I wasn't feeling to keen with him yet.
"Odahviing, you did not fail me, but I would advise you to be more on the lookout next time? Also Diinslenul, I need you to do something before I can trust you, I hope you do not fail me on this mission, but I need to know where Alduin is, and what he is planning. Can you do this?" I asked rather hopefully, but not so much as to sound desperate, he nodded and before he could take off I asked him, "By the way, I never asked are you male or female?" Diinslenul grinned, but it wasn't a happy grin, more like 'I got a prey cornered' kind of grin. "Why thank you for asking, I'd be the latter." With that she flew off, leaving behind a crowd of ponies, Odahviing who looked rather bashful, Twilight, Narsis and I. The crowd soon dwindled only leaving a few by standers, (deja vu overload!) Twilight spoke up, causing Narsis to jump, "Well, to be honest, I dont know what to make of that." She looked over at me, "Jiques you really do attract the worst attention don't you?" I flashed her my trademark grin and said, "Nothing I can't handle." She rolled her eyes and replied, "It is still annoying, how would you like it if an alien popped up in your house with crazy dragons and other dangers popping up along with it." I was really surprised at her response, either ponies are used to strange every day occurrences or they were really good at pretending nothing happened.
I assumed both, Odaviing took to the skies once more, giving his fear inducing roar causing a few ponies to cower. I looked off into the distance where Diinslenul had flown, it looked like a direct path away from the mountain that holds Canterlot, I felt a swoosh of air, and saw a bright lemon colored flash along with a dark indigo blue. A second later the two Princesses stood there in all their glory in the cadmium yellow light. I bowed along with Narsis, Twilight and Spike who had recently come outside to investigate the noise. The Princess of the Night giggled, "You may rise, we have no need for formalities." Princess Celestia smiled at us all but frowned at me, "Jiques, I would like to know why my sentries have spotted another dragon, that had previously landed here and then flew away from here." I chuckled, "That was Diinslenul, she is a frost dragon, apparently she had decided to go against his dragon overlord Alduin and fight with me, she has realized I would eventually kill all or most..." My voice dropped out at the end, Spike had been listening the whole time, would he understand what I meant? How could I discriminate Skyrim's dragons from Equestria's? To them it might seem I was hellbent on eradicating an entire species. My eyes dilated as I realized what I thought.
"Erm... well this is a bit awkward, how should I put this?" I thought for a moment, "Okay, Skyrim's dragons are returning and are planning on enslaving all sentient life on the planet, their leader Alduin being the prime motivator. Me being a Dragonborn is my job to stop this, you all got this?" They nodded and I continued, "Now I realize you have your own dragons, while it is not my plan to kill them, I would like to say, if they stand in my way I will kill them. Spike before you say anything I just wanted to say, I wont kill any Bi-pedlar dragons unless absolutely necessary and if what Diinslenul says is true then I am not to far from Skyrim." I finished with that Spike was of course the first to speak up, "I don't like you killing any dragons, but I understand, atleast the part about enslaving every sentient being. But I don't know how I'll feel about you killing another of my kind." With that he nervously shuffled back, Celestia was next, "Jiques, I truly never liked hurting anything, but killing is a whole new matter, if it is necessary then I wont hold it against you. Perhaps you can even try and make friends with them?"
Narsis finally spoke after being quiet just about the entire time, he took a moment to get his voice, "I.. I.. Dragonborn, Jiques, please promise me man, you'll be cautious when fighting a dragon." He looked just about ready to collapse, I knew the guy was prone to bad memories with dragons, but I thought he could tough it out. He looked shaken pretty bad, his jugular vein was making it's pulse more obvious every minute, whenever the guy was scared or traumatized his jugular vein always tried to pop out more. I heard small hoof falls and turned to see a sepia colored stallion charge at me, it was then I noticed the sky, the sun was on the horizon and the moon could see peeking over the hills. I saw his hoofs had cloths covering them making his hoofsteps barely audible but with my fine tuned hearing I got it like a person trying to sneak up on a mouse.
I got a good look before he jumped at me, a knife in his soylent red magic. He tried to bring it down only to find his knife gone by my disarm shout, "ZUN" I did a simple disarm and it worked like a charm sending his weapon flying, he tried to buck me only to find I was in front of him, I shouted into his ear, "GOL HA DOV!" His eyes gave a far away look and his mouth gaped a bit. I smirked, if it hadn't been for me being trained against assassins such as these I would never have seen the light of day again. All the gathered ponies, Narsis included watched in awe and shock as I disarmed him and bended his will. I asked, "Who sent you?" His jaw worked frantically before he spat out a sentence, "No one." I frowned, he couldn't lie, so I asked a different question, "Why did you try and kill me?" He looked scared as he was force to answer, "You killed my brother Told Truth." I grimaced at the memory. I answered simply, "He tried to kill Barbas, I couldn't allow that." I looked up at the sky to see the moon had finally risen, "Go home, you are no longer in my control." With that he nodded, shaking his head, he went home.
I looked up to the sky to see a shooting star, I wished Diinslenul's mission would be successful...
