When Star Note woke up, Sapphire was gone. In her place was a note.
It read:

Good morning! I went to go get some stuff so we could have breakfast. Stay right here sleepyhead!

Sapphire

'Why does she always do this? I mean I know we've been having breakfast here every summer for the past 3 years but....couldn't she at least stay here until I'm up? Oh well, she'll be back soon....at least, I think. She could go off on some....'
Star Note's thoughts were cut off by the crash of a metal tray.

"Hey lazy bones! Can I get some help over here?" Sapphire's angelic voice called. She had two carts of ingredients.

"If you wouldn't take so much stuff, I wouldn't have to help you!" Star Note teased as he trotted over to where Sapphire was. "You know, you could wait for me and we could have gone together. I don't sleep that long." He said as he walked beside her with one tray.

"But I didn't have to wait in line at the market because I got there early. So you shush Star." Sapphire batted Star Note's nose when she said that.

Star Note laughed lightly when Sapphire touched him. "So what are we having for breakfast?"

Sapphire thought about the question before answering. "Hmm, well, nothing specific. I thought we could try making something together. All the other times I made everything alone, so let's do this together, just like we've done everything since we met."

Star Note sighed and took a moment to reminisce about all the good times they had spent together and all the good times to come. "Well, let's get started then. What should we make? How about...hmm....let's make some Eggs Benedict with some.....Grass Pancakes...and....hmm...blueberry pie."

"Why pie? Isn't breakfast a bit early for pie?"

Star Note just laughed. "Anytime is a good time for pie. Especially with someone like you." It was Star Note's turn to bat Sapphire on the nose.

Sapphire just turned red and hugged him. "Did I ever tell you how glad I am that we are friends?"

"Like everyday Sapphire" Star Note gave Sapphire a smile and then began cooking with her. The breakfast was delicious. The pair ate their fill, and then walked back to Sapphire's house.

"So what else should we do today?" Sapphire asked. She had a certain twinkle in her eye.

"You have too much energy. We could just relax at the lake today. That'd be a nice thing to do together. Meet me there before sunset 'kay?" Star Note replied. He couldn't wait until he got to go hang out with Sapphire again to tell the truth. All he had to do was wait. That was the hard part.

"Where are you going Sapphire?" Sapphire's mother called to her.

"To the lake to hang out with Star Note. Where else?" Sapphire replied with a hint of sass in her voice.

"You spend an awful lot of time with that young stallion. What's going on between you two?" Teased the mother.

"Oh shush Mom. There's nothing between us. We're just best friends." Sapphire thought to herself, 'At least...I think that's all we are.....' She shook herself out of her thoughts, "Well I'm off, wish me luck!"

"Bye sweetie! Have a lovely time! Oh and by the way, your father is coming home this weekend. Maybe you could invite Star Note over for dinner and we could officially meet him."

"I'll ask him! I won't be coming home tonight again! I'm staying at the beach! Okay bye Mom!" And with that, Sapphire was off to Lake Ponyville.

When Sapphire arrived, it was only a few minutes before sunset. Star Note was sleeping in the sand. Sapphire trotted over to him and lye right next to him. She put her mouth right next to his ear a ever so softly whispered, "Wake up sleepyhead."

"Hey Sapphire." Said Star Note groggily. "You're just in time for the sunset. It's so pretty when it casts its reflection over the lake. Look!"

All Sapphire could say was "Wooooww" She was completely mesmerized by the beauty of the scene. She didn't notice it right away, but she was starting to lean on Star Note.

Star Note noticed and whispered to her, "Sapphire, I'm not a pillow" He said it with a chuckle and only nuzzled closer with her.

Now it was Sapphire's turn to say something. "What are you doing? I'm not a blanket." She said this with a very playful tone.

Star Note stammered over his words. "W-Well I..umm...I-I...was a l-little chilly..."

Sapphire burst out laughing that time. "Star Note." She said while wiping tears of laughter from her eyes, "It's fine. I don't mind."

The two best friends sat in a comfortable silence as they watched the night pass by. Eventually they both grew tired.

"It's getting late Sapphire. I'm getting tired."

"Well then let's sleep. I forgot blankets and pillows, but we didn't have a problem with that earlier." She winked at Star Note when she said that.

"If you insist." Star Note began to resume the position he had earlier, but this time Sapphire was in his hooves.

The pair didn't know it, but they were thinking the exact same thing.

'Where does this leave us?'

Love can be found anywhere. You just have to look.Old love can be rekindled or new love can be found. If you keep your heart open, love will always find its way in.
