I looked to the sky and tried to find any constellations that I could recognize from my time in the Middle East but couldn’t’ recognize anything. The stars looked weird to, like something out of a Disney movie rather than what real stars looked like. “Shit… we must be in… China or something” I muttered angrily to myself.
Elijah stepped out of the Humvee and paced a little ways away. “Hey Elijah, don’t go far” I ordered him and he waved to me.

I began to backpedal just as one of those creatures burst from the shadows of the forest, hissing and snapping its jaw at me. “FUCK YOU!” I yelled as I swung my M4 carbine at the beast and held back the trigger. 5.56mm rounds slammed into the creature and riddled its body. The muzzle flare illuminated the forest in front of me and the eyes of several of the creatures lit up like the fourth of July.
“Oh shit” I muttered then rushed back towards the truck where Jackson was already waiting for me.
“What the fuck is going on?” he yelled over the sound of my chattering assault rifle which I fired wildly into the forest.
“No time, get in the truck now!” I yelled as I rushed past him and to the driver side door. I got in and slammed the driver side door then looked to Jackson who was getting into the passenger side. Just as he went to close the door, one of those freakish wooden wolf things grabbed his leg and pulled him back out.
“JACKSON!” I yelled as I reached over and grabbed him. He began to scream in fear and horror then suddenly seven more wolves joined in and pulled my friend away, breaking him free of my grasp.
I grabbed the AA12 from behind the passenger seat and cocked it. A nightmarish creature lept up to the driver side door and growled at me, drool dripping out of its clenched teeth then it opened its mouth to bite me.

I maneuvered the vehicle through the dense forest, running over several wolves in the process. It seemed like the forest just went on forever but then I caught a glimpse of light and drove towards it. The Humvee smashed through the treeline and into a beautiful meadow. The treaded tires quickly shredded the fine grass and made ruts as it skidded along.
I stopped the truck and put it into neutral before slipping into the back and manning the minigun. I waited for a moment or two before I spotted some of the creatures. I pressed the left handle button, activating the spin cycle and the minigun’s barrels spun to life. As the creatures got closer I held down the right handle button and the iconic thunderous BZZZZZZ of the minigun filled the air around us.
A stream of orange light filled the dark night as hot lead filled the air and chopped away any of those retched creatures that got in its path. The minigun’s pace picked up to 6000rpm and I could see the barrel start to heat up.
I began a slow, horizontal arch with the gun and withing seconds I had made fine work of both the wooden wolves and the field around them. I looked around and waited for what seemed like hours before I sat back down in the Humvee.
“Please god, just let this be a dream” I prayed to myself before leaning the seat back and passing out.
What seemed like only moments, which was probably actually hours, passed and I heard a banging on the door of the HMMWV. I opened my eyes and looked up to see a freakish looking unicorn… wait a unicorn! They aren’t real.
“Hey you! Yeah you. Trixie need to speak with you” it said in a rather feminine and demanding voice. I reached into my chest holster and drew my .50 caliber AE Desert Eagle before opening the door and exiting the vehicle.
“Ah yes, Trixie’s finest creation. Bow down to The Great and Powerful TRIXIE!” it demanded. I simply stood there in shock and disbelief. She looked to me with one eye opened and the other eye closed then opened both eyes and shot me an irritated look. “Hey demon, are you deaf. Trixie says bow down!” she ordered.
“Two things. First: I’m not a demon, second: not gonna bow down. Third: where the fuck am I?” I asked and the thing, Trixie its name was, laughed.
“Ha, Trixie does not think so. You are a demon, Trixie summoned you here to help Trixie defeat Twilight Sparkle. She has ascended to an alicorn and will be impossible for Trixie to defeat alone. Now bow down to your new master” she ordered and I chuckled.
“So you summoned me here?” I asked and she nodded. “Did you mean to send me into that deathtrap or was that an accident?” I asked.
“Trixie never makes mistakes… but yes it was an accident. The teleportation spell accidently summoned you into the Everfree” she told me.
“Alright… send me back, along with my squad. Make this all better” I ordered her. She laughed again.
“Ha, Trixie does not think so. You will do as Trixie says or else” she threatened. I curled my lips in anger.
“Or else what?”
She hesitated for a second. “Or else… or else Trixie will punish you severely” she scowled. I had just about enough of this blue bitch.
I grabbed her by the throat with one hand and lifted her off the ground. I was reasonably strong and she was roughly 80-100lbs, give or take. She opened her mouth to gag but I jammed the barrel of the Desert Eagle right into her mouth.

I set her down and stepped back, keeping the Desert Eagle trained on her forehead. “Trixie… is so sorry for your loss… please don’t kill Trixie… she didn’t mean anything by it” she sobbed. Her sudden emotion touched my heart. I was a soldier but I wasn’t a murderer. Though her actions got my friends killed I didn’t have it in me to just blow her head off.

Present day:
“So what happened?” Fleur asked me and I shrugged as I finished off my apple and tossed the core away.
“Eventually I realized that she was just crazed and left her. Then she summoned some real demons so Princess Twilight Sparkle hired me to stop them, I put a bullet in the demon’s head, it died then Trixie was put in a jail cell and sentenced to five years in solitary confinement. Then Twilight was all ‘Oh you saved Equestria’ but then they decided that I was an animal and shoved me in a barn with a bunch of other animals and now I work slave labour for some redneck bitch” I informed her.
“Oh… well then” she replied and I saw her back legs start to get twitchy. “Do you have the time?” she asked and I checked my watch which still miraculously worked after all these years.
“Quarter to six” I informed her.
“Oh… well I enjoyed the conversation. Perhaps you’d like to come back to my place and go into further detail?” she offered and I chuckled as I waved my hand.
“No can do. I know what you want and I don’t think Fancy Pants would approve. Even if he’s cheating on you right now” I chuckled. She gave a ‘Humph’ then trotted away in frustration. I smiled to myself then continued to try and sell apples.

“Hey buddy wanna buy an apple, just one bit gets you three apples!” I said excitedly. The stallion lifted his snout in the air and walked away with a snooty look about him. Fucking Canterlot, where the rich are snooty and the poor think they are rich so they’re snooty too.
You know for what it’s worth sometimes I just wonder if I should end it all. Just pull out my handgun and BANG, right here, right now. No-pony would care, just another animal that killed itself for unknown reasons.
Despite my constant thoughts of suicide I always disregarded them as fast as they came. Sure I was stuck in a world of crazy ass ponies, considered an animal, living in a barn with a bunch of farm animals… okay so maybe it was kind of shitty but I suppose things could be worse.
“Morning Mr. Dale” called out an oh so familiar voice. I let out an irritated sigh. It was that pink mare from yesterday that wanted to hear ‘Everything’ about how I got here.
“Morning Fleur” I said with a fake smile that I conjured up at the last second.
“Beautiful morning isn’t it?” she asked with a very feminine tone. I looked to the sky. It was warm out today, no clouds and the birds were chirping.
I put on a very immature smile. “Oh yes, it’s such a beautiful day isn’t it. The birds are chirping, the sky is clear, the sun is out and all we’re missing is a rainbow with a pot of gold” I said in an irritatingly squeaky voice. She frowned.
“I take it you’re not having a good day” she replied and I smirked. ‘Ah durr, yah fucking think so?’ I thought to myself but refrained from asking that. “So if not, what’s wrong?” she asked and I sighed as I rolled my eyes.
“Hmm… where to begin? How about: I’m stuck in a world of talking ponies that think I’m a dangerous animal. Or maybe the fact that I ‘Saved Equestria’ but am still considered a dangerous animal. Or maybe the fact that I’m not allowed in the house because I’m a dangerous animal. OR MAYBE… uhh never mind” I told her with a disgruntled sigh. She raised an eyebrow from my sudden outburst.
“Why are you considered a dangerous animal?” she asked and I chuckled.

Five years ago:
I was just starting to run the plow through the field when suddenly what seemed like an earthquake rocked the ground around me. “Oh shit!” I swore and looked to Big Macintosh.
“What’s going on!?” I yelled out to him and he shrugged fearfully. I looked to see Applejack galloping over to us.
“Hurry, get in the barn!” she yelled and without hesitation we all rushed towards the barn. As we neared the barn that’s
I approached the barn and I could hear Trixie start to cackle madly.
“THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE SHALL HAVE HER REVENGE!” she cackled. I rolled my eyes as the beast approached the barn. Princess Twilight, Celestia and Luna all flew forth in an attempt to slay the beast but it simply swatted them away like flies.
“AH-HA, THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE IS MORE POWERFUL THAN ALL IN EQUESTRIA! NOW YOU SHALL ALL DIE!” the annoying blue unicorn laughed. I let out a sigh of irritation. And here I thought I was going to get work done early today. She was making a friggin mess of the fields which I somehow knew that I would have to clean.
The others inside the barn all huddled together in absolute fear. The youngest one, Applebloom, cried into her sister’s shoulder. Applejack hushed her sister and sang a rather depressing melody to try and put her sister at ease.
My heart sank and I immediately knew what I had to do. I could have ended this before it started. I knew that she was trying to take over Equestria with demons but I just let her do her thing.
I walked over to the locker that I used to house my weapons. I opened it and immediately grabbed my M4 with the M203 40mm grenade launcher attachment. I pulled back the charging handle and let it slam shut by itself.
I placed a grenade round into the launcher and pumped it closed. I holstered my Desert Eagle then looked to the family that now cowered in the barn. I put on my most expressionless face, “I’ll be back” I told them. God I had always wanted to do that.
I walked out of the barn with the M4 in both hands. The demon creature was probably about fourteen of fifteen feet high with dark red skin. Its body was quite large and bulky and had two twisted horns protruding out of the fronts of its skull. Fire emulated from its eyes and a mist of black smoke seemed to surround its feet
Trixie looked to me. “DEMON, KILL THAT PATHETIC INSECT!” Trixie ordered. The demon looked to me then came barreling over towards me. I leveled my M4 at the hip and held back the trigger as I roared in anger.
The muzzle flashed and spat out 5.56mm rounds that buzzed through the air and ripped through the creature’s body. However all the bullets managed to do was piss it off even more than it already was. The gun soon cycled through the entire magazine. I rearranged my hands so that I was grasping the grenade launcher and popped off the round.
The 40mm fragmentation grenade round erupted as it struck the beast’s chest. It howled out in pain as its body spasmed. Trixie fell of the beast’s head and quickly rushed out from underneath the demon as it fell back in agonizing pain, shards of shrapnel splintering in its body.
I dropped the M4 and rushed up to the demon as fast as I could. It began to stand up again but I lept up onto its body and rushed over to its head. I unholstered my mighty handgun and fired a single round right between its eyes.
Dark black blood, or at least I think it was blood, splattered up onto me as the demon’s head fell back dead. I looked over to the blue unicorn who was in shock from everything that had just happened.
She got up to gallop away but I was on her in a second like a bolt of lightning. As I neared her, I lept through the air and tackled her to the ground. I rolled her body over and pinned her forelegs with my knees as I slammed the hilt of my Desert Eagle into her face.
I forcibly opened her mouth and jammed the barrel of my pistol into her mouth. Suddenly a hoof rested on my shoulder. “Let it go. She’s beaten” Celestia told me. I looked back to her in disbelief.
“You’re not serious are you!? She was going to kill every-pony and you want me to just let her go!?” I snapped with irritation in my voice. Celestia slowly pulled my arm away and the gun barrel slipped out of Trixie’s mouth.
“If you kill her then that would make you no better than her. She shall stand trial against the supreme court of justice” Celestia announced and I let out a sigh of defeat as I stood up and holstered my Desert Eagle.

Fleur raised an eyebrow. “So if you saved Equestria then how does that make you a dangerous animal?” she asked and I shrugged.
“Well at first it wasn’t all that bad. See, for a month after the whole ordeal Pinkie Pie threw parties and every-pony was all bubbly and happy. Applejack let me reside in the guest room in her house but every few days I’d wake up yelling. I had shellshock from my time in military service. So eventually she said that she was fearful for her family’s well-being. On top of that they realized that they hadn’t been able to stop the demon but I was able to kill it off easily and they figured ‘What would happen if I decided I just wanted to take over Equestria?’. So in the end they all got serious spooked out by my presence inside the house and kicked me out into the barn with the dog…” I trailed off and let out a deep sigh.
“Well that was certainly rude of them. I don’t think you’re dangerous at all” Fleur told me and the comment arose a smile on my face, a real genuine smile.
“Thanks… you know sometimes I wonder if I should have taken Trixie up on her offer. You know, take over Equestria. At least then I’d be able to sleep on a bed, not a pile of hay. Like really, I tried to tell them it was just the shellshock but they thought I was going rabid or something” I told her and she sighed and gave me a sudden hug of sympathy.
“I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope you find something to ease your pains” she whispered softly. I reached up and scratched the back my head. Usually ponies didn’t react like this when I told them how I ended up stuck in the barn. She looked up to me. “So why are you here?” she asked and I sighed.
“Well after they booted me into the barn I still stuck around, like I had anywhere else to go. Applejack has me running the sales carts up to Canterlot and selling goods. You know I try to tell her we’d get better business in say Dodge Junction or Appleloosa but she doesn’t listen. And while I’m pulling this goddess forsaken fifteen hundred pound wagon up the mountainside she’s off fucking the dog” I scowled. She raised an eyebrow from the last comment.
“She… has sexual intercourse with her dog?” she asked and I chuckled.
“No-no, it’s a term humans use. It means that she doesn’t do all that much. While I’m out busting my ass in the fields she’s fuckin around with her friends and ‘Saving Equestria’. Yeah, saving Equestria my ass. Last time I checked, saving Equestria doesn’t mean socializing in town with her friends at Sugarcube corner” I said with heavy irritation.
“Oh dear. I’m so sorry to hear that… would you by chance be interested in coming over to my house to help me with some… things I need help with?” she asked and I sniffed the air. Her scent was heavy and undeniable.
“No thanks. I still have to sell all these…” I trailed off as a sudden crack of lightning sounded and rain began to pour down. I let out an irritated sigh then pulled a chain on the wagon. A roof popped up over top of the wagon but only sheltered the goods, not me.
I almost instantly became soaking wet and let out another irritated sigh. I looked to Fleur who was shivering slightly. Her mane was now soaked as well as her fur which both drooped down and dripped with water.
“How much?” she asked and I raised an eyebrow.
“I’m not a whore” I said with a chuckle and she gave me an irritated shove.
“No you buffoon! How much does everything cost all together. I’ll pay for it then you can be free to come back to my house to dry off” she offered. Though I was still reluctant, because I knew what she really wanted, that didn’t sound all that bad for the time being.
“The wagon has two thousand bits worth of stuff” I told her. She smiled then grabbed a little wooden sign from the wagon and inscribed ‘Free’ on it. I chuckled to myself as she began to pull me along back to her house.

Dale:
I slipped off my combat boots and placed them on the door mat. Fleur shook like a dog and water splashed at me. I raised an eyebrow, wasn’t she high class? So shouldn’t she dry off with a towel rather than… my thoughts trailed off as I figured that I’d just forget about it.
My clothes were dripping wet and I stood by the door like an idiot. She looked to me and smiled. “Well don’t just stand there, come in, come in” she offered and I took a deep gulp and entered her residence. It was really swanky and high class. Everything seemed to be décor and was probably expensive.
My clothes continued to drip water and I looked down to see that water from my clothes was staining the high quality carpet. “Damn, uhm… where should I go so that I don’t stain the carpet?” I asked, not wanting to really make a mess of the place.
“Follow me, you can have a shower while your clothes dry” she offered and led me to the washroom. It was like the rest of the house, swanky.
I nodded with a show of impress. “Nice digs chief” I commented and she shot me a confused look.
“Digs?” she asked and I chuckled as we entered the washroom. There was a washing machine and drier, the latter of which I needed to use, along with the other faculties of a washroom.
“Uhm… I don’t mean to be rude but uhm…” I trailed off shyly and she raised an eyebrow. “Well if I’m gonna take a shower I would rather not have you watch” I said with a faint smile.
“Oh… right, uhm… of course” she said and quickly left, closing the door behind her. I let out a small sigh and opened the drying machine as I undressed. I tossed all the clothes into the machine then closed the door and started it.
I looked around for a towel and soon found a stack of them in the cupboards above the washing machine. They were of top quality I could tell and looked like they were more for show then use.
I placed the towel over the towel rack and slipped into the shower. The nozzle was a little shorter then I was but that didn’t bother me in the least. The way I figured it was it was better than the garden hose I used at the farm.
I played with the taps until the stream of water coming from the showerhead was hot and steamy. I let out a satisfied sigh of immense pleasure. God this felt good, I hadn’t bathed in warm water since… a long time.
I scrubbed myself down and lathered my body with some frilly smelling body wash that made my nostrils tingle. Suds of soapy water were washed away down the drain as I browsed through Fleur’s rather large selection of shampoo. ‘Christ how much shampoo does one broad need anyway?’ I thought to myself then remembered how beautiful her mane was.
“Yeah… on second thought it would make sense” I told myself as I chose some strawberry smelling shampoo and soaked some into my hair. I seriously needed another haircut. I got one twice a year but I liked to keep my hair on the short side of things. Macintosh usually cut my hair for me. He and I got along fine because he sort of knew my pain.
His own sister would piss off at the worst of times to go do something and leave us to do all the work so it goes without saying that we saw eye to eye on more than one thing. He also listened to my war stories and understood why sometimes I would wake up hollering like a lunatic. He said that if any-pony went through what I went through then they would probably be worse than I was.
As I finished washing my hair I scratched the back of my head a little. I knew that Fleur was in heat but couldn’t she have gotten some-pony else? Then again every-pony was scared of what Fancy Pants might do. Just because he had political connections didn’t necessarily mean he was scary.
I finished my shower and turned off the nozzles. I didn’t know how long I had been in the shower but I had this feeling that it was probably close to forty minutes. It was just one of those things I had to enjoy while it lasted, like leave time during military service way back in the day.
I reached my hand out of the shower and felt around for my towel but couldn’t find it. I poked my head out of the shower to look for my towel but couldn’t see it anywhere. I scrunched my nose. I could’ve sworn I had gotten one and left it out. ‘Maybe the sun is getting to me’ I thought to myself as I quickly used my hands to wipe off the majority of the water still on my body.
I stepped out carefully, my wet feet making footprints of water as I snuck over to the towel cupboard and opened it to get another towel. I was shocked to find it empty. I muttered a quiet curse to myself as I looked around for something to dry myself off with.
I spotted a hair drier on the washing machine and smiled. I grabbed the hair drier, which conveniently already plugged in, and flicked it on then began to dry myself off. The humming of the hair drier filled the room and I looked at myself in the mirror only to be surprised when I realized that no fog had accumulated on the mirror from the steam produced during my shower.
I figured that Fleur had just bought a fog-proof mirror. The hair drier was a little less convenient than a towel but quickly got the job done. I began to dry my hair and within minutes my hair was dry and fluffy.
I gave my hair a little rustle but it didn’t catch on my fingers like it usually did. Instead my fingers seeped through my hair and it felt pretty cool. “Huh, well ain’t that something” I muttered then slid my hand down to my bare chest and felt my old scars. Two rather circular scars on the top left of my chest were from an AK47 while the jagged line scar on the right side of my chest was from a knife.
I gently slid my left hand fingers along my knife scar and sighed. My back fared no better with several scars from random incidents. At least my face was still pretty, well sort of. I leaned forwards and looked more intently at my reflection in the mirror.
“Well… aren’t you just the grandest of fuck ups. You squad gets killed, you end up in another world with no way home, treated like an animal but yet you somehow manage to stay devishly handsome… you old dog” I chuckled to myself. The cold dog tags around my neck dangled about freely.
They were the last things I had to remind myself who I really was. Without them I would probably just consider myself an animal like most of these godforsaken ponies thought I was. But whenever I looked to them I remembered. “Sergeant Major Smith D.” I told myself then rubbed my right shoulder attentively and gave a tired stretch.
I turned off the hair drier and opened the drying machine. As I pulled out my clothes I realized that I hadn’t put a fabric softener in and my clothes clung together. I chuckled as I quickly slipped them on, hearing the static of the fabric as they rubbed together.
As I stretched one last time I caught a whiff of a strong odour. I sniffed the air and heard the faintest of moans come from the doorway. I looked and heard a gasp just as a streak of light pink rushed away. I did the math and chuckled quietly to myself.
“Well I’ll be damned… smartass” I muttered to myself then gave my hair one last feel before leaving the washroom. I walked towards the living room, which was near the exit of the house, to see Fleur resting on her black leather couch.
“Well thank you for the hospitality ma’am, but I really must be going” I told her as I realized that it was rather late in the evening. She immediately lept up from the comment.
“NO! Please you must stay. It is still raining” she said hastily as she got off the couch and quickly trotted over to me. She placed a hoof on my shoulder but as she did a zap of static electricity zapped her. “Ouch!” she squeaked as she immediately retracted her hoof.
“I uh… forgot to put a fabric softener in” I chuckled and she nodded.
“I know. I was going to tell you to…” she trailed off as she realized that she had just revealed that she had been watching me. She held a hoof up to her lips to silence herself in embarrassment.
I chuckled and rested my hand on her shoulder. “No worries. But next time do you think you could at least leave me a towel” I laughed and she blushed furiously. I let out a sigh as I realized it was still pissing rain outside then looked back to her. “Alright… I’ll stay the night” I told her which brightened her face with delight.
“Oh excellent… I don’t suppose you’re hungry?” she asked and my stomach rumbled in retort. We both paced over to her fancy fridge and began to rummage through it. We quickly managed to make up a rather fine meal though we both lacked cooking skills so the baked goods didn’t turn out so well.
I swallowed the last of the butter tarts and let out a satisfied sigh. “You’re pretty good. You ever think about a career in cooking?” I asked and she laughed with femininity.
“Oh don’t be so charming. You know as well as I do that the meal was rather… horrid” she laughed and I had to join in. It wasn’t close to great but at the same time it wasn’t, as she said, horrid.
“Just saying” I told her as I stood up and paced over to the sink, turning on the taps to get ready to wash the dirty dishes.
“What are you doing?” she asked as she stood up and trotted over to me.
“Washing the dishes” I told her but she laughed and tried to pull me away from the sink.
“Guests do not do chores in our house” she told me and I laughed.
“Well if not me then who?”
She raised an eyebrow. “You think that I am unable to wash dishes?” she asked and I nodded. “Oh well then I’ll show you” she told me and we began to wash the dishes together.
As we fidgeted with the plates, to try and best one another, she used her magic to splash a bit of water onto my side. I looked down to the stain, “Hey! I had just gotten dry” I scowled playfully and she giggled.
“Nothing personal” she laughed as she quickly scrubbed another plate clean. I raised a cheeky eyebrow then cupped a bit of water in my hands and splashed her back. She gasped in shock as water dampened her fur. “HOW DARE YOU!” she gasped and I smirked.
“Nothing personal” I told her and she took a larger concentration of water then splashed me back. Soon we began to throw large splashes of water at one another. I was determined to win the fight and quickly grabbed the water nozzle used to rinse plates and blasted her with a constant stream of water.
She fell back to the floor, crying. My heart sank, I felt terrible but hadn’t she started it? I stopped dousing her and quickly kneeled down beside her as she sobbed. “Why… why would you do that? You ruined my mane” she sobbed and I let out a defeated sigh.
“I’m sorry ma’am. I was just playing around. I didn’t mean to take it so far” I told her and she stopped sobbing then began to sniffle.
“You mean that?” she asked and I nodded. She smiled and suddenly a large splash of water, from what I could only presume to be from a soup pot, crashed over my head, soaking us both.
“Oh you didn’t” I muttered and she giggled. “Oh you did, didn’t you” I muttered then suddenly she pushed up and knocked my body back. She lept on top of me and quickly pressed her soaking wet lips against mine, her mane splashed down and splashed against my face with considerable wetness.

I realized that we were soaked and in need of a shower. “Alright… if you go for a shower then I’ll clean up this mess” I told her and she nodded then sheepishly trotted away to the bathroom. Christ that had gotten out of hand fast, but that’s what happens when a mare is in heat. Big Macintosh had told me about some pretty interesting times that he had when Applejack was in heat.
I quickly cleaned up the mess and soon enough Fleur returned from her shower, looking radiantly beautiful. My jaw opened slightly as I gazed upon her beauty, what the hell had gotten into me? It was like I was a fourteen year old kid who had just snuck into a porn shop for the first time.

“You should probably take a shower” she laughed and I realized that she was right. I gave her an appreciative nod then proceeded to the shower.
This shower was relatively shorter and I quickly got out and dried myself off with the towel. This time the mirror was fogged so I knew that Fleur hadn’t been watching. I grabbed my laundry from the drier and quickly slipped them on. I walked out of the washroom and met Fleur in the hallway.
Fleur offered to let me sleep in her room but I turned down the offer and instead flopped down on the living room couch. I thanked her one last time before passing out. It had been a long day.

I awoke suddenly when loud screams echoed in the house. I sat up almost immediately, not remembering where I was. Soon it all came back to me. “Oh yeah” I muttered tiredly to myself and got up to see what all the commotion was about.

Tears flowed from my eyes but I made sure not to actually sniffle or sob. I closed my eyes and tried to wish it all back to the way things used to be.
I opened my eyes and let out a choked up sigh. My breathing was erratic from my saddened emotions. I hadn’t thought about this for a long time. Why was it me? Why me? Why did I survive of all people? Why couldn’t it have been Jackson? Just… why?

It would be a mystery that I would never unveil.
I ejected the magazine and checked it. It was loaded. I slid the magazine back into the gun and cocked back the slid then released it. “Alright Big Mac… let’s go ‘save the day’” I said with a bit of sarcasm in my voice.

Well I gotta get back to work, an hour lunch break is really pushing it, even if I am concussed and am supposed to be taking it easy because "Evan your back is fragile and you need to take it easy on yourself" yeah anyway. Hope you guys and gals liked the plot twist, I'll try and have another one out after I get home from work
The desperate trophy wife
I stopped the Humvee in the street and let it idle for a few moments before turning it off. The entire city of Canterlot looked barren, like every-pony had just up and left. A lone piece of newspaper fluffed across the finely paved street.
I leaned over to Mac who was sitting in the passenger seat. “See any pony?” I asked but he gave a simple ‘Nnnope’. “See any demons?” but again I was answered with a prolonged ‘Nnnope’. I sighed, “See anything suspicious?” but this time he replied differently.
“Eeyup” and I immediately scanned the area intently to see what he saw that could’ve been suspicious. But I couldn’t see anything suspicious, not a damned thing.
“Whatta yah see?” I whispered to him.
“Nothing” he replied and I leaned away from him and gave him a curious look. I was about to ask what’s so suspicious about nothing but then figured he meant it was suspicious that no-pony was around.
I rolled my eyes. “I meant do you see any-pony that looks off?” But again he answered ‘Nnnope’. I sighed then started the HMMWV and drove it down the streets at a considerably slow speed. ‘Please god, don’t let demons have RPGs’ I prayed to myself.
I stopped the armoured vehicle just at the intersection near Fleur’s house and looked to Macintosh. “Up for a little rescuing?” I asked and he raised an eyebrow.
“Shouldn’t we be findin the demons?” he asked. I chuckled as I turned off the truck and drew the Glock from its holster on my hip. Luckily Jonas stashed two extra magazines with it giving me a total of three and Elijah had four drum magazines fitted with frag-12 shells.
I slung the AA12 around my back and held the Glock in both hands as I cautiously left the vehicle. I was breathing at a paced rate, considering that nothing had really happened, and looked around.
The sun was shining rather brightly and everything was quiet, too quiet… way too quiet. I motioned for Big Macintosh to follow me and he too quickly left the Humvee and stayed close behind me as I quickly paced over to the corner wall of a building.
“Tell me if you see any-pony… or demon” I told him and he nodded. I slowly peaked around the corner and peered down the street. Nothing. I looked up to the high-rise buildings and their respective rooftops but still nothing.
I tapped Mac on the shoulder then we began to proceed down the sidewalk of the street. Really I should be doing as Macintosh suggested and hunting down the demons but I just had to make sure Fleur was okay. In my eager mood to leave Applejack behind in revenge, I wasn’t really thinking about Fleur.
As we snuck down the street my heart rate began to increase for no apparent reason. This was just too weird. Applejack had said there were demons yet there wasn’t a soul in sight.
We approached the two story house of Fleur. Strange, now that I think of it I had never been in the second floor of the home. I took a long hard scan of the area to make sure everything was fine, or well as close to it as could be.
I stepped back in preparation to kick down the fine brown wood door of Fleur’s house but then stopped at the last possible second. I set my foot back on the ground then reached forwards and opened the door with my hand. It wasn’t locked and swung open.
The house was dark and eerie. I couldn’t imagine how it was so dark inside with all this light shining from the sun. I looked to Big Mac and mouthed ‘Wait at the door’. He nodded in signal that he understood.
I brought the Glock up to a lowered forty-five degree angle in both hands as I entered the house. In a very quiet voice I began to call out for Fleur. “Fleur… hey Fleur it’s me, Dale… Fleur are you home? FLEUR!” I whispered rather loudly but didn’t get a reply.
I continued to make my way through the house. Maybe she had locked herself in her room. I approached her room only to see that her door was slightly opened. “Fleur?” I whispered as I began to slowly open the door open.
The hinges squeaked, usually it wouldn’t be a pester but with everything the way it was it literally sounded like a high pitched dying animal or something. “Fleur?” I whispered again as the doorway opening became larger.
I snuck my head into the room but suddenly a metal chair whacked me in the face, almost breaking my nose. “GAH FUCK!” I swore in pain as I stammered back. “FLEUR, IT’S ME!” I yelled and I heard Fleur gasp in realization of what she had just done.
“Oh my goddess, Dale. I’m so sorry, I didn’t know it was you” she apologized. How the hell didn’t she know it was me? I had called out to her several times and even said it was me. I quickly disregarded the thought and rushed up to her, embracing her in a tight hug and swinging her in a circle before placing her down and kissing her quickly.
“What the hell happened here?” I asked but she didn’t answer and simply buried her face into my shoulder. I couldn’t imagine what the hell had happened. Applejack said there were demons but I didn’t see a single damn one.
“They’re… something’s wrong… no-pony is around. There was a little colt in the streets… oh goddess… he started screaming and crying… thrashing around insanely and finally… his whole body just went pale and he began to walk away like a zombie or something” she whispered quietly. So quietly in fact that I could barely heard her.
“It’s okay. I’m here and I’m gonna fix this. Told you I’d be back” I told her with a bright smile then turned to Big Macintosh but he wasn’t in the doorway. “Hey Mac” I whispered loudly. He didn’t answer.
“Mac!” I whispered a little louder but still no reply came. I kept whispering louder for about a minute then figured something must be wrong. Though I had my pistol and shotgun I felt a little on the unarmed side. God I wish I had my Desert Eagle, that thing could put down an elephant… well not literally.
I looked back to Fleur, “Stay right behind me. Everything is gonna be fine” I told her and slowly crept along the side of the wall until I was near the doorway. “Mac!” I hissed but still no answer.
I poked my head out of the doorway and looked down both ways of the street. The city was still barren. ‘Where the hell’d he go?’ I thought to myself then looked back to Fleur. I was about to tell her to stay close but I’m sure she knew that already.
We stepped out into the city streets and quickly paced down the sidewalk. Something was really creepy about this whole scenario and I didn’t like it one bit. “Somebody’s playing hocus pocus… I hate hocus pocus.”
We approached the Humvee and I sat her in the passenger seat before hopping into the driver seat and starting the vehicle. I began to drive it down the empty streets at a rather high speed until finally I spotted a pony but something was off about her.
The mare was walking like she was brainless and her only intention in life was to walk a straight line. Suddenly she turned down another street. I slowly trailed her in the truck, making sure to stay far enough away so I wouldn’t spook her.
Eventually she led us to the royal castle where ponies were being assembled by little black insect creatures that were about the size of ponies but with holes in their bodies. ‘Great! Demons’ I thought to myself. I looked over to Fleur. “Whatever happens, don’t get out, or open the window” I told her and pulled the Humvee up to the assembly of ponies. Some of the creatures looked to the still idling vehicle and hissed.
I killed the engine the quickly slipped into the back and opened up the hatch with the minigun. “Hey! Where’s your boss?” I asked but in reply they simply spread their wings and took to the air. “Wrong answer” I yelled and started the spin cycle on the machinegun.
A dozen or so of the insect demons dive bombed for the vehicle and I hosed them down with a spray from the M134. 7.62x51mm explosive shells ripped their bodies apart. It was like they had hit a gruesome bug zapper.
Their body parts fell to the ground and more of the creatures hummed in the air then charged at me. I made quick work of any demon/bug that flew at us but they seemed relentless. God I hope I don’t run out of ammo.
The minigun continued out a constant spray of ammo that made an orange stream from the absolutely stunning fire-rate. Brass casings littered the ground and inside of the vehicle.
After almost two minutes of hosing down the creatures, they wised up and buggered off. I let off the buttons of the minigun and the barrels whirred to a stop. They were orange from the extreme temperature and I could see vapour steam coming from the barrels.
I slid back down into the cabin but left the hatch open. “You should be safe in here. I don’t think they’ll be coming back” I told Fleur who nodded. I exited the vehicle and drew out the AA12 then proceeded to the castle.
No-pony in the crowd would talk to me, let alone even look at me. This was getting weirder by the second. I reached the palace doors, they weren’t usually locked. I stepped back and booted the doors down. Inside the hallways were swarms of the creatures. I smirked “Knock-knock.”

I like where this is going. For all the readers who still want to complain about the Desert Eagle, YES HE'S GOT A DESERT EAGLE! And for all you guys out there who are like "It's unrealistic for a military special forces guy to have a handgun chambered in .50 caliber" could you not please bicker about something more appropriate, like why is it he has a military issued Humvee that's standard transmission. The military doesn't make em standard, they're all three speed automatic.

Chapter 10: Unconventional ally
Sometimes the frag-12 rounds wouldn’t detonate on impact due to the fleshy skin texture of the ‘Demons’. Demons! Ha, they looked more like failed lab experiments… that were a mixture of Swiss cheese and a housefly.
The AA12 chugged out explosive shells that devastated the creatures. They hissed and screeched as they flew at me. I took cover behind a stone pillar just as one of the demons launched a magical green blast at me.
I noticed that the magazine was empty and loaded a fresh one. I only had this one and the next one then I was out. Dammit I really wish that I had my old guns. I stepped out from behind the cover of the pillar and fired mercilessly upon the creatures. Just as I was about to duck behind the pillar they wised up and scampered off. I took close aim on one of the fleeing creatures.
I gave the trigger a quick pull and fired off a single round that connected with its rear and detonated. The creature began to howl in pain and squirm around furiously. I checked the load. Empty again.
“Damn” I muttered to myself. Even though it had a relatively mediocre fire-rate, it still ate through ammo rather quickly. I slipped the last magazine into the shotgun then slung it across my back as I drew the Glock. I wanted to keep the AA12 handy for something a little bit heavier and stronger, like the first demon I killed.
I began to stalk down the hallways which were now pretty much empty, save for a few glances I’d catch of one of the demons scampering out of sight. I began to pace down a hallway when suddenly a voice entered my head. ‘Over here’ it called.
“Over where?” I asked as I looked around, keeping my Glock at the ready. Something just didn’t seem right about this.
‘In the room to your left. Do not worry, I won’t harm you’ it whispered in my thoughts. Okay, when someone says ‘I won’t hurt you’, it usually means that they are going to hurt you and they just want you to lower your guard or… or they need my help.
I slowly opened the door, letting my pistol lead the way. Compared to my Desert Eagle this pistol was like carrying a feather which was rather nice. As I entered the room I spotted a larger demon looking thing, but this one was different. It had more character to it and looked feminine.
I leveled the pistol’s sights on her but she didn’t move… she couldn’t move. She was bound to a chair. She chuckled, “Please… don’t shoot me. I mean you no harm” she laughed rather calmly.
“Those your demons out there?” I asked and she nodded. “So I guess that means that you’re a demon too?” I asked but she shook her head.
“We are not demons. We are changelings. My hive was brainwashed by Trixie and her new partner whom she summoned from beyond the grave” she informed me. I still kept my pistol ready but lowered the sights from her body as I approached her. “They took my hive from me and kept me locked up for if I was too escape, I could break the spell they have on my hive.” I raised an eyebrow.
“So… I guess that’s where I come in. You need me to free you so you can get your ‘hive’ back and… just by chance are you going to try and take over Equestria? You don’t strike me as one of the good guys” I asked with curiosity. She laughed briefly.
“Well… in the future, yes. I do plan to conquer Equestria but believe me when I say it won’t be now. My hive is too weak, especially with the causalities you just inflicted. I can feel their suffering you know” she said with slight irritation in her voice. It’s not like it was my fault I killed her friends, they were trying to kill me so I just returned the favour.
“So I let you free, you take back your hive, then what?” I asked. She tried to shrug in the chair but couldn’t due to the ropes tying her down.
“Then we all go our separate ways. You go back to your life mingling while I go resurrect strength in my hive so that one day I can conquer Equestria” she informed me. I really didn’t want to let her free but if she could stop all those bug things then it would make my life easier.
“It would make your life easier” she replied, almost as if she read my mind. I looked to her with a shocked expression and she giggled. “Yes that’s right. I read your mind.” I gulped then paced around to her backside to untie her but found that she was tied up pretty good.
I knelt down but out of my peripheral vision I spotted a large blade coming towards me. I spun to face it and noticed a green aura surrounding it. Her horn was glowing as well. I pressed the barrel of the Glock to the back of her head but in turn she simply laughed.
“Relax. I’m not going to stab you. Use it to cut me free” she told me calmly.
“Why didn’t you just use your magic to cut yourself free in the first place?”
“Because I needed someone who could help me. If I hadn’t found you then I wouldn’t have been able to retrieve my hive. Now cut me loose” she ordered. I took the blade, which looked something like a bowie knife, and cut the ropes.
She stood up and brushed off the ropes still clinging to her body and stuck in her holes. “Why do you have all those holes anyway?” I asked.
“It increases pleasure during intercourse” she replied and I gulped in shock. “I’m just kidding. It’s a part of my body. Just like those fingers of yours are a part of you, the holes are simply a body genetic.” Not really a straight answer but I sort of understood what she said.
“Alright… let’s go stop this” I told her and she nodded.
“The name’s Chrysalis” she told me and we exchanged pleasantries. To my surprise she ended up leading me, saying she knew where Trixie was. We ended up at two large doors which were locked and a little too big for me to just boot down.
I motioned for her to step back then unslung the AA12. I leveled it at the hip and emptied the entire magazine capacity into the door. The frag-12 rounds made quick work of the wooden furnished doors and quickly blew them to splinters. I dropped the still smoking shotgun in the small clutter of green shotgun shells and smiled as I proceeded through the doorway.
We both entered the throne room where Trixie, a weird stallion looking thing, the element of harmony bearers and both royal princesses stood. Other than Trixie and the stallion, they all had a grey tone to their body.
I leveled the Glock on Trixie. “Surprise bitch” I chuckled but she didn’t laugh and neither did her friend who had purple smoke wisping from his eyes.
“No surprise. Trixie knew you were coming” Trixie laughed.
“And how’d you know that?”
“Because Trixie has her” she replied and pointed to Fleur who was being dragged in by two of the insect things. I kept my aim on Trixie. “Please, lower your gun. It’s insulting” she ordered but I didn’t listen.
“Fleur, I thought I told you to stay in the truck” I called to her but she shrugged embarrassingly.
“I always wanted to see the Canterlot royal garden” she replied and I sighed depressingly. Why would she want to see it at a time like this?
Chrysalis leaned over. “Trust me, it’s a beautiful place” she told me, almost like she had read my…
“Get out of my head” I whispered back and Trixie became annoyed with our whispering.
“What are you whispering? The great and powerful Trixie demands to know!” she ordered and I looked to her with an un-impressed look.
“Who’s the stallion? A demon?” I chuckled and she nodded triumphantly.
“This is the one, and only, King Sombra! Lord of darkness!” she announced like it was a big deal.
“Pfft.” I leveled the Glock and fired six rounds in quick succession but all the rounds pinged off his chest armour which resembled medieval styled armour. “Shit” I muttered. This is why I missed my Desert Eagle.
“Surprise!” Sombra sneered and fired a blast of black energy at me. The blast struck me right in the chest and sent my body skidding across the ground, making me lose my grip around the Glock.
I got up, my jacket had been severely scorched from the blast and luckily my chest was only stinging but not bleeding. Sombra fired another blast. I quickly rolled out of the way and behind a stone pillar.
“CHRYSALIS! A LITTLE HELP!” I yelled but noticed she had disappeared. Great… wait a minute… Applejack has my guns. I peeked out to see that Applejack did indeed still have her saddle which probably still housed my Desert Eagle.
Sombra fired another blast at me and I ducked it a little late. The blast blew away a chunk of pillar and several pieces cut up the left side of my face but they were only minor. I peeked a look out again only to have Sombra fire another blast at me.
I quickly stood up then dashed out from behind the pillar and to the cover of another. I needed to get to Applejack but couldn’t at the moment because there was no cover near her.
“Here” said a vaguely familiar voice. I turned to see Chrysalis with my Desert Eagle and ammo belt. How the hell’d she do that? “Magic” she replied. I really needed to stop thinking with her around.
“Okay… You distract him and I’ll kill him” I suggested.
“Killing is a little harsh, don’t you think?”
“You have a better Idea?”
“Nope” she replied and that was the end of the quick argument. I held the Desert Eagle and pulled back the slid before releasing it and letting it slam shut. Christ this was a nice gun. The gun had excessive weight for a pistol but that helped compensate the recoil. However the cons were balanced by the guns tremendous firepower, for a pistol, and uncanny knack to penetrate light armour. Now the question was, is his armour light enough for the .50 caliber rounds to penetrate?
Chrysalis took off into plain view, gaining Sombra’s attention. I rushed in the opposite direction, gaining Trixie’s attention. Sombra fired a blast of energy at Chrysalis but she blocked it with a blast of her own.
I lept, rolled then came to a crouch stance and took close aim with the massive handgun. Sombra and I had about a forty meter separation so it would be a little more than difficult for a headshot. I fired a round into his chest. The bullet failed to penetrate but made a large indent into his chest plate which made him screech in agony.
The force knocked him back but he kept his footing. I fired another round which slammed his chest again, making another dent and once again knocking him back.
BLAM… BLAM… BLAM, BLAM. The Desert Eagle thundered in the throne room. Each round would knock his balance off and send him staggering back. Three of the rounds penetrated his armour and made him screech painfully as blood trickled out onto his shiny armour.
My final shot was a little of target but ended up clipping his jugular. He fell back in pain and shock. Trixie, now realizing her plan had been foiled, quickly formed a magic spell and vanished into a smoke cloud.
As Sombra squirmed on the floor, Chrysalis and I approached his dying body. I slid a fresh magazine into the handgun then holstered it.
Sombra took a final wheezing breath then passed away. As he died the faded colouring around the others disappeared and they returned to normal. They all gasped at the sight of Chrysalis and myself but let out a more shocking gasp when they spotted Sombra’s dead body.
Fleur was the only one who looked like she knew what had happened, due to her not being brainwashed or whatever it was.
Celestia approached us both slowly. “What… happened? Dale… did you?... You saved Equestria again… you’re a hero” she gasped. I sighed then looked to Chrysalis who was already leaving.
“Chrysie over there is the hero. She saved the day. If it wasn’t for her then this wouldn’t have ended as nicely” I told them. Celestia turned to Chrysalis who had now stopped and was looking back to me with a curious look though she had a small and faint smile on her face.
Fleur lept onto me while I wasn’t expecting it, coving my face with a fury of kisses. Celestia giggled. “So what happens now?” Fleur asked and I sighed.
“I still have one last loose end to tie up”

The room was dark, still, and deathly quiet. Only the faintest of light trickled in from the window which was currently covered by window blinds. The air was cool despite it being a late summer afternoon.
The door to the small apartment opened and Trixie sighed depressingly to herself as she entered the small apartment, closing the door behind her. She had failed, again, and was now on the run. She went from motel to motel in hopes of evading the authorities… well actually in hopes of evading the one she feared most who she knew would kill her outright if he got the chance.
She flicked the light switch on and turned around to proceed into the small living quarters. She let out a stifled gasp as she saw me sitting in a fine office chair. She had locked the door before she left this afternoon to get herself something to eat but I had let myself in without the need of a door.
“Is Trixie surprised?” I asked calmly. She gulped. “Sit down.” But she didn’t listen and instead slowly took a step back. I pulled out my Desert Eagle and leveled the sights on her head. “SIT DOWN!” I yelled sternly.
She gulped, nodded and then did as I demanded. She slowly and cautiously took a seat on the couch across from me. I stood up and tossed the photo onto her lap. It was ‘The photo’.
“You don’t know who they were but you were responsible for their deaths. If Celestia hadn’t stopped me that day I would’ve blown your head clean off” I told her coldly. She was breathing heavily and erratically in total fear.
She picked up the picture in her right hoof and brought it closer to her face so she could better examine it. “I’m… so sorry… I know that doesn’t mean anything coming from me but I swear I never meant to do what I did to you” she apologized. Her words were touching but didn’t change my mind. I knew what I had to do.
I took another step towards her so that we were merely a few feet away. She looked up to me with a solemn look. “Go ahead… do it… prove that you’re an animal… but please make it quick” she pleaded. I cocked back the hammer on the massive handgun manually with my thumb.
Tears came to her eyes as she looked death right in the face with fear stricken all over her… she looked me right in the face. Almost like she was looking deep into my soul. It didn’t matter though, if I let her go then in another few years she’d do this all over again. I squeezed the trigger and the Desert Eagle thundered in the room, its gunshot echoing off the walls. The .50 caliber AE round slammed into its mark perfectly.

Fleur’s perspective:
I stood there waiting for Dale to return. The others were here as well. Dale stepped out of the small motel room and three royal guard ponies entered as soon as he left. The gunshot had been over an hour ago and Celestia was the only pony to talk to him since.
He approached Applejack and myself but Applejack spoke first. “You didn’t kill her?” she asked curiously.
“No” he replied bluntly and Applejack raised an eyebrow in shock.
“I’m surprised.”
“Why? Think I’m an animal?”
“No, not for that reason… I suppose you have no regrets?”
“None. You?”
“No… well yes. I’m sorry Dale. I should’ve been more considerate of you. You’ve worked harder than any of our family yet we’ve treated you horribly. If you can ever hear me out then please understand that from the bottom of my heart, I am truly sorry for the way we treated you” she apologized. There was a deafeningly long silence that seemed to drag on forever.
Dale smirked. “I forgive you… just don’t bring it up ever again” he replied and the reply took us all off guard.
“That easily?” she asked curiously and he nodded but she must’ve understood why he accepted her apology so easily because she didn’t ask why.
In the background Trixie was pulled away. Her horn was missing and blood trailed down her face. Applejack raised an eyebrow. “I don’t suppose you know anything about that?” she asked and Dale simply shrugged.
“Wish I could help” he replied and there was another bit of silence.
Applejack started another conversation. “Chrysalis has become a hero… apparently she’s working out a peace treaty with Celestia and Luna” she told Dale who simply nodded.
“Then I guess everything worked out in the end” Dale said and began to walk towards me. He placed his arm around my neck and I snuggled up tightly against his side.
Applejack called out to Dale. “Dale… Big Mac wants you back at the farm” she informed him. Dale stopped and so did I. He turned his head slightly so he could make eye contact with her.
“I never left” he replied and again we both began to walk away. Dale dropped something but I couldn’t see what it was. It jingled and sounded kind of like his dog tags. Suddenly a familiar pony in fine dress attire came racing around the street corner.
“Oh Fleur… oh Fleur I’m so happy to see you’re alright. I came as soon as I heard” Fancy Pants gasped.
“As soon as you heard or as soon as you were done with Cactus Lily?” I asked and Fancy Pants gulped.
“How do you know about her… I-I-I mean… who’s Cactus Lily? Who told you these ludicrous stories about her and I? We never did anything like that!” he exclaimed and I raised an eyebrow.
“I didn’t say you did anything with her. So it’s true. You’ve been cheating on me this whole time! Well it’s over Fancy, I’m leaving you!” I told him sternly.
He sneered, “Oh yeah? For who? No-pony would take you, you’re a snooty bitch!” he commented with a cruel laugh but never got to finish his cruel comments. A powerful blow across his face knocked him out cold.
I looked in shock at Fancy’s unconscious body and then to Dale who simply shook his hand in minor pain and shrugged. “Meh… he was an ass” he chuckled then put his arm around me again. I felt content… loved… and lucky to be alive. In only a very short time I had fallen in love with someone who wasn’t my species and didn’t really like me right off the bat but somehow things had worked out. I snuggled my cheek against his chest. He gave me a quick kiss and we walked off into the beautiful setting sunset.
Author's Note
I think I liked that ending. Into the sunset. Now before anyone goes asking "Why would a soldier toss away his dog tags?" At some point in the story he commented on how it was his way of remembering who he was. So this was his way of moving on. Anyway, hope you all enjoyed the story. Kudos to all you readers and big thanks from Burdy (That's my nickname I got in from the rest of the football team)
