For Brian, life was strange. He was walking alone at night, and having just got dinner from atop an apple tree, he felt it was time to return home. Some things I should mention are the facts that he grew up differently, he never met his grandfather, and he has locked away his rebellious side for years now. He was fifteen years of age, heading on to sixteen in about two months. He also had bizarre memories. Memories of a creature called a "Human" and a large portion of this creatures life, about 16 years, more or less. As he was strolling down the dirt road to where he lived, a grayish beam of light shot from the moon towards him. "That's odd... If I remember correctly, then my parents has told me that if a beam like this one appeard it meant one of the princesses are trying to contact me... Although I'm sure that's not the..." Suddenly, Brian was interrupted by a large crackling boom, as though a thousand volcanoes had just erupted around him, and his conciousnous fled him.
Brian was awoken to a yelping noise. This noise did not aid him in the fact that he seemed to have a headache like that of the world being placed upon his head. He was curious as to what the yelping was, but his energy faded quickly as he continued back off to sleep... Or rather, his Coma-like state. Little did he know that the yelp he heard came from one of the few who could help him overcome his past. All he remembered was a very feminine yelp and something that sounded like a question.
The next thing Brian saw we're white walls. A window near the bed he was in, with a strange heart-monitoring device attached to him. Well, heartrate monitoring device, but who really cares? It was causing him a vague pain in his foreleg where the IV was attached. He looked out the window to see the sky turning dark, and Pegasi struggling to keep the sky under proper control. Brian began to wish to aid them, but he felt miserable. His entire physical form ached. He knew he was in a hospital. After all, the hospital clothing was a dead giveaway. He then let sleep take over, for there was nothing for him to do at the time.
This time he awoke to voices outside his room. He heard a soft voice ask "Will he be alright? I don't know what I would do if Pinkie Pie found out her efforts for the 'Get Well Soon' party were for nothing. She was the pony who found him lying there... Well, tripped over him really, but... She just really loves to party and she has been making a lot of preparations for this one. She's had all month and we are beginning to worry that..." at that point Brian stopped listening.
"An entire damn month?! Why the hell haven't they tried everything to wake me?!" Was Brian's first thoughts. The he remembered those words were definitely NOT appropriate with him being in a hospital. "Dear Celestial, what happened to me?" Was what he decided to say, and he was wondering what he should do. Then the hunger kicked in, along with the urge to urinate. He managed to crawl out of the bed, remove the IV from his foreleg after getting the Nurses attention, and managed to crawl into the bathroom.
Chapter 1: The Acceptance
Brian was lying in the hospital bed, having just cleansed himself of his urine, and was curious as to why he was in a more advanced hospital than most. He was also concerned about how nauseas he was. He felt as though he would vomit at any second, despite the fact that he was shaking from such a large lack of food. He remembered heading home, and sent a silent thank you to Princess Celestial for him ending up in the hospital instead. His house was a makeshift tree house with various weaknesses. It would get cold very easily, rain would cause him to be soaked, and insects loved the tree. The only benefit was that the wind was blocked. Now he was inside a hospital that provided much more shelter and safety, and likely better food than apples. Considering Brian lived off of one apple per day, he was very skinny and weak, uncapable of having muscles. He also had to use the bathroom outdoors, leading to various issues with disease.
The nurse came in with a Carrot Sandwich. Apparently he was in a bad medical situation, or they just wanted to get him to heal quickly. Brian asked the nurse, "May I have some water, ma'm?" In the most polite voice he could manage. However, his voice was dry, and he felt as though he had almost lost his voice altogether.
"Why, of course. I will return in a few minutes, you should eat while I'm gone." The nurse pony replied casually. Clearly, to Brian, they just wanted to completely heal him at a faster rate than normal. He had done some research at a Library whilst being bored to learn that a Carrot Sandwich is imbued with intense magical properties, but the unicorn can not cast another spell for the next forty eight hours. So two days, overall, without spells. Unicorns could still perform small things, like using there Hiram's glow for light or levitating objects such as sporks. Brian began eating the sandwich when the nurse knocked twice, then walked in. "You don't mind having a visitor, do you? She is shy, to warn you. More than likely she won't talk to you much. She hardly talks to anypony. I sometimes worry about her, but I never really need to worry. Do you mind her visiting you?"
Brian was at a loss. He was wondering "Who the hell would want to visit me?! Some moron who can't tell the difference between useless and important?!" The Brian realized that this pony must have her reasons. Just as he had his reasons for running away from his home when he was still at the age of five. He had not realized the hardships he would have to face until after running away. He told the nurse to "Let her in. I'm sure she has a decent reason to visit me." Not that anypony ever did. He had never accomplished anything major. He told stories in exchange for spare bits, and he hardly got anything out of it. Then the nurse let the pony in. Brian had already accepted the fact that whoever she was she may as well be there to torture him. He already felt his life wouldn't get any worse. Then he looked up at the pony who had walked in... Well, Pegasus really.
