Chapter Two: Mission Not-so Accomplished

Rarity ducked before Spike looked past Twilight and almost saw her, then back at the book. She then, carefully but quickly, ran back to her house, knowing that she shouldn't have been watching them in the first place. It could just be a picture book... or it could be a whole library of diamo- "I must have it! I must!" She thought aloud, everypony around her staring out her. "Eh-heh-heh..."  She then backed up into the Carousel Boutique.

I suppose I don't need it today, I mean, there's no need, I suppose.

A group of ponies entered the Carousel Boutique. One had large glasses and the other didn't. "We heard you had a totally cute design coming up," Said the one without glasses. "And we just like, NEEDED it!"

Rarity wiped sweat off her face and directed her to her clothes rack. "I don't see any diamond dress here," Said the one with glasses, obviously disappointed. Rarity's eyes widened. "How did you find out about it? I never told anyone about it."

The pony without glasses sniffed then said "The little dragon dude, Scales or something," "Spike?" "Yeah, whatever. So like anyway, he ran into us, and he said you were looking for something so he ran out, and told us about the design you were planning..."

Although she had a hard time understanding the pony, she was flustered that Spike spread the word. It was supposed to be top secret until release. "Well, then... I'm so sorry, but we don't have it out yet... but please come back later if you still want it." The pony without glasses grunted, and the other sighed. "We'll have it by tomorrow!" Why the hay did I say that?! Rarity had a sudden urge to take back what she said, but the two ponies looked pleased and headed off. Rarity banged her head on the wall and thought aloud, "I NEED to get that book, and now!"

She burst out the door and stopped when she ran into Spike. Perfect! "I heard that Twilight has a new book in her library," Rarity said, starting off easy. Spike nodded. "And I heard it's about diamonds. Tell me, what was in that book?" "Nothing," the purple dragon said, impatience in his tone.

"No, really, I need to know. What useful stuff was in that book, was there anything interesting?" Rarity's eyes started to burn.

"I said nothing," Spike repeated, with no hesitation in his voice.

Rarity wanted to rip her mane out. "What was in that book? I need to know for the design, you know!"

Spike backed up, but spat out, "Nothing!"

Rarity was just about to scream when she calmed herself down and breathed deeply. "I'll just ask Twilight, then."
