The Next Day

The small band of ponies wondered through the empty lands in silence, they had been at it all of yesterday and much of today, it was near on midday now and Dari suddenly came to a stop. Everypony slowly caught up to her. She stood just short of a hoof dug trench spanning as far as any pony could see. Some black paint or tar or something filled it and the black line spread for miles in both directions.

"What it is?" Spectra asked.

"Past this line, we are out of Equestrian borders." Dari muttered. Spectra nodded and the group moved on. Nick was the last to cross the line.

They walked for another hour or so, then finally. The mountains appeared, tall, much larger than most in Equestria, but Canterlot and the Tip of the World was still on top.

"We have to climb those?" Rainbow grunted.

"Not up and over, there is a cave system through the middle mountain about a quarter of the way up. But it hasn't been used in years. Since the Siren Fall and before." Dari replied.

"Well I vowed to never climb another damn mountain again." Spectra muttered.

"You're going up there." Rainbow replied.

"Yes ma'am." Spectra replied, Rainbow just laughed and kissed him. They moved on in silence, everypony would talk now and again but they were mainly focused on getting through the trip. Dari staying in front next to Steven, Nick was on the Serpent's back as usual, no pony would've noticed the knife if not told, almost a dot compared to the giant.

"Holy Celestia I am pooped." Nick suddenly declared.

"You haven't actually done any exercise since we started, well except the four minutes of running yesterday." Steven replied.

"Well one; that wore me out, and two; it was four minutes and eight seconds." Nick muttered, proud of that fact.

"So four minutes of running will ware you out, but hours of battle you are fine?"

"Yeah something like that." Nick replied. Suddenly Steven stopped. "What?" Nick asked. Steven kicked Dari gently who also stopped. Steven felt something walk into him and turned around, behind him stood Spectra.

"I walked into you fucking ass mate, why did you stop?" Spectra asked. Then saw, far ahead was a lone figure, limping and slow, but heading toward them.

"Human." Spectra muttered and walked round Steven. Toward the enemy.

"Spectra." Rainbow muttered, the Pegasus pony released the safety on his gun saddle and aimed.

"I have a shot." Spectra muttered looking down the sight.

"Wait." Fluttershy muttered, everypony looked to her. "He looks hurt." She muttered, blushing at all this attention.

"He is an invader. That right there is the reason Haze is dead." Spectra replied, not taking his aim off the advancing human.

"But." Fluttershy muttered.

"Besides, he has a gun." Spectra muttered.

"Wait. Maybe we should spare him. It the most honourable thing." Heart Breaker said. Spectra didn't look away.

"Spectra Speed. Let go of the trigger." Rainbow said rather sternly. Spectra let go and put the gun back.

"Fine." He grunted.

"Thank you." Rainbow replied. "Anyway, if he tries anything then we can kill him. He can't do any damage alone." She added.

"Fine. We will regret this." Spectra muttered.

"Lets just go greet the man." Heart Breaker replied. "Remember Spectra, one of your best friends is human." He added, winking. The group moved forward to get closer to the human Applejack ran in front and waved her hat into the air.

"Howdey partner!" She yelled, the human practically shit himself and jumped, lifting his gun up as he did. Everypony got weapons ready.

"Calm down, lower your weapons!" Heart Breaker asked, running between everypony and the human. The human lowered his decay rifle first.

"I'm friendly." He shouted, throwing his gun to the ponies and raising his hands into the air.

"What the fuck does that mean?" Spectra grunted.

"I won't shoot. I, I am a friendly. I betray the UNOSE and they tried to kill me. I ran. Please, I am friendly." The human replied. He had army clothes on, like that of those who had invaded in the pods first, a small backpack on and a black beard beginning to grow. His UNOSE badge was gone, in it's place was a piece of torn fabric.

"Have you ever killed a pony?" Spectra asked, gun still ready.

"No. Never." The human replied.

"Have you hurt a pony?"

"No."

"Have you ever fired your gun?"

"Yes. When I shot my captain before he could order the execution of a small female pony."

"It's called a filly boy."

"Yeah. There was this little filly running to who I presumed was her dad shouting his name, Haste I think. My captain told me and the squad to shoot her and I shot him right between the eyes, I ran then. Didn't stop running until I couldn't hear the gunfire. I kept running for nearly a week and fell, through bushes and caves. I have been surviving out in that forest miles back for, I don't know how long, months, years. Eating whatever I could find that didn't already have dead animals, ponies or humans laying around it." The human said.

"What is your name?" Spectra asked.

"Crystal." The human replied.

"Alright Crystal. I am going to say this straight. You can join us if you wish, but you make a single move against any of us and you will be eating your own shit after I finish with you. I don't trust you and I hate your kind, except a few, and everything you stand for. Got it?" Spectra asked. The human nodded. "Good. Twilight you can heal him if you wish." Spectra added and walked away, Rainbow following.

"I don't trust him." Spectra muttered.

"I know dear, you made a very clear point of that." Rainbow replied. Flying slightly.

"He can just boost up the numbers?" Spectra asked.

"Of course. I think he's kinda cute though, can we keep him." Rainbow asked, jokingly.

"Cute?" Spectra asked.

"But you're adorable." Rainbow joked.

"Not adorable." Spectra grunted, not realising Rainbow was joking.

"Well you are good at some things." Rainbow muttered and slapped Spectra's arse playfully.

"Stop it."

"Fine. Come on, we got a long way to go." Rainbow smiled, then flow away lifting her tail up deliberately.

"Bullocks." Spectra muttered and caught up to everypony, and everyONE.
