The Heart's Power

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Nearly three hours passed of the two unicorns casting spells to unfreeze the door, eventually Steven just broke the doors down and everypony piled out into the blizzard. Everypony had been talking to Haze, swapping notes on both worlds. After each story everypony got more scared of Haze's home, and he got more in awe of this world.

Now they were all out in the snow again walking through Old Equestria, luckily Rarity had brought extra gear and luckier still it fit on Haze. They wondered through the snow, everypony holding onto Steven who followed Dari. The storm was getting stronger by the minute and many of the number thought about turning back and wait for it to die down a bit. But Dari was determined to press on. They needed to find the Heart soon though, or ponies were going to freeze.

"We can't hold on like this forever. Where the fuck is the Heart?" Rainbow shouted.

"Shouldn't be too far now." Was Dari's reply somewhere up ahead.

"You said that half an hour aga." Rainbow shouted.

"Well until we actually get there. I don't know how far away it is. Now shut up Sheldor and lets move on!" Dari shouted. Then silence.

"Sheldor?" Rainbow asked.

"Nevermind. Can we just keep moving. This place brings up bad memories." Dari muttered, no pony hearing. Nevertheless, the walk was continued in utter silence. Except the howling wind. They walked on for another hour, or so it felt. Until finally, they arrived. There was a tall, much larger than the last building standing out of the snow, the huge metal doors stood tall and proud, as if ponies still tended to them to make sure they wouldn't rust. The group trotted inside, for Twilight to start another fire to keep warm. Then promptly stopped and looked to the end of the room. There stood a huge stone ball, with blue veins running across it, glowing warmingly.

"Is that it?" Nick asked, stunned. There was a low hum coming off the ball as if to sound like something was sleeping.

"Yes. The Heart of Old Equestria. It holds unlimited magic power and can restart Equestria's magic. This is the thing that will save us and bring us that much closer to destroying the Mo'ka." Dari replied.

"Well I have been outside and trust me." Nick started. "It wasn't fucking worth it."

"Come on. We need to get this strapped to Steven." Spectra replied smiling.

"What?" Steven asked.

"Well there is no way in tartarous any of us will be able to carry that. So since you are the biggest, would you carry it?" Spectra asked. The Serpent nodded and Spectra, Haze and Rainbow began walking toward the Heart of Old Equestria.

"Ready?" Spectra asked.

"Of course." Haze replied. But the moment they touched the Stone, a bright blue light exploded from it and knocked the three ponies back. Part of the ceiling began to fall and snow drifted in. The storm began to find it's way into the building.

The light cleared, the Heart was still in one piece but Spectra, Rainbow and Haze were glowing blue.

"Is that how you become a Siren?" Heart Breaker asked.

"No. I would've needed to perform a spell, to control the magic. This was just a random burst. I have no idea what this could mean." Dari replied, confused.

"Shit." Nick muttered.

"Shit indeed." Dari replied. The trio were on the ground. Still.

Rainbow got up first. Her mane had changed, a more block, beautiful scene. The colours were brighter and the mane longer. Her skin tone was also brighter, any evidence of scars from battle were gone.

"I feel. Alive." Rainbow muttered and began to fly, her wings had more, longer feathers and her tail was neat and tidy. Spectra then stood. He had been completely brightened up also. His red eyes were, however less red and the white in his cutie mark had turned red. He smiled.

"You have to try this thing." He said and began to fly around with his wife. Haze didn't move, the light turning into a small trail of smoke coming off him. A piece of iron could be seen with raw flesh surrounding it. Haze was a mess, not like the others. He didn't move at all.

"Oh Gods." Heart Breaker muttered.

Dari began to glow slightly, the Heart did too. "He is alive. Barely." Dari muttered. Some evidence of a stray decay shot could be seen on his leg and the Cutie mark was near on blackened over by burns. Finally, Haze moved.

"But, he wasn't shot." Spectra muttered, floating down to see his friend, moving and growing slowly.

"Dee." Haze muttered.

"That isn't Haze, well not the one who came through the portal." Dari muttered.

"Shit." Nock grunted. Figuring it out.

"Dee!" Haze shouted and rolled over, one eye was his normal red colour, the other was pure white.

"I can't see. Where am I? Derpy! Tage!" Haze shouted. Everypony stood still, stood silent.

"Haze?" Heart Breaker asked. The smoking pony looked toward Heart Breaker, began to crawl toward him.

"Heart Breaker? Where are you? Where am I? Where is my wife?" Haze began to question, asking the same question over and over 'where was Dee'. This pony was lost and broken. In so much pain, he was raw and bloody. This was so wrong.

What should they do? What could they do? This was the Haze who they knew, this is the Haze they fought with. This is the Haze, who should be dead. This, this crawling pile of smoking pony, was a stallion who had lost everything.

Sir Bright Haze. Had come home.
