Chapters "Luna, it is time." Princess Celestia called to her sister. She looked in Luna's room to find her little sister lying on her bed. She was only half dressed for this occasion. Only three hoof heals and a crown laying right next to her. She wasn't in a very excited mood. "What's wrong, my little sister? Didn't you like the idea of your moon passing over my sun?"
"I did, but that's not the problem." Luna said sadly. Celestia went to lay down with her.
"What is it then?"
"I'm just...lonely."
"Excuse me?"
"I mean, I've been locked away for a thousand years. I've lost all of my friends since then. No pony understands how I feel. Just thinking about what happened last Night Mare Night was just terrible. They all feared me because of what happened to me. Then Twilight Sparkle came. She helped me with everything. Now she's the only friend I have. She was the only one I could talk to, until recent events." Luna thought of Twilight the alicorn.
"You can talk to me too."
"I know, but...my point is, I want a friend who can relate to my pain. I want a friend who understands me better than anypony else. But their's no pony I know who can help me."
"I see." She looked away feeling sorry for her sister. Then Luna's crown caught her eye. She used her magic to levitate the crown and it on her sister's head. "All I can say is to have faith. You'll meet somepony who can relate to your past."
"Do you really think so?"
"I'm sure of it." Celestia got up and heard the cheers that were heard from outside "It is time." She said to Luna. They both nodded to each other. Luna put on her last hoof heal, brushed her mane once more, and walked out to the balcony with her sister. They could hear cheers and laughter everywhere. Beside Celestia stood Princess Cadence and Shining Armor, and beside Luna stood Princess Twilight and her friends, all had their element of harmony with them, in case something went wrong. Celestia gave her announcement.
"Fillies and gentlecolts, it is nearly time for the solar eclipse to occur. This rare moment has been only used once over a thousand years ago. My sister, Princess Luna shall be the one to show you all what it may be. May I advise you to not look at the sun directly for your safety. We hope you enjoy this momentous occasion."
Everypony cheered again. Celestia nodded at Luna. Luna spread her wings and flew up to the sun. At the same time, she lifted the moon into the sky.
"Come on Luna, almost there." Luna mumbled to herself. She had some practice with this, but it was only to bring out the night alone. She could barely lift the moon with the sun beating down on her. Over a thousand years ago, she needed help from Celestia to rise the moon with her. Now, she knew she had the strength to raise the moon on her own. She pushed hard until the moon was successfully into place. She opened her eyes to see Equestria at nighttime. Everypony cheered again. Luna gave a sigh of relief. She had made the solar eclipse possible.
Then something caught her eye. She looked down to where Princess Twilight and her friends stood. Their elements were glowing. Their glow got bigger and brighter. Luna flew down as fast as she could to get a better look at what was happening. The Elements were glowing even brighter. She couldn't see anything. No pony could. All of a sudden, the glow spread rapidly. It covered all of Equestria until there was nothing but white. Luna felt dizzy and fell to the ground. The last thing she saw was white turning into black.
-----------------------------------
Outside of a nearby city stood a black hedgehog on a small hill. He had red streaks going down his quills and inhibitor rings on both his wrists and ankles. His name is Shadow. He had been standing there all day with his arms crossed and looking at the nearby city. He had some time off from his working for the GUN. During his free time, he had been standing there thinking about what should happen in his life.
"I've done what was done. I've protected this world. I've fulfilled my destiny. But what now? Where do I go from here? What am I to do?" He thought. "I can't just keep working for humanity for the rest of my life. I feel like something's missing. Something very important. Something that I truly desire. But what? What do I need to be satisfied?" He thought. He wasn't sure about weather or not he should make some friends. "Who would I even be friends with? Sonic and his friends are not like me at all. I need a friend who actually understands me. I need someone who knows what I've been through. I need someone who can relate to my pain from my past." He thought of the Ark, the misunderstanding, Maria. "She was the only one who knew, but she's gone. So who else is there?"
Just then, the moon started to drift in front of the sun. Shadow knew that the solar eclipse would happen soon, but why should he care? It's just an eclipse. What was so great about it? Suddenly, his chaos emerald started to glow. "This is strange." He said to himself. He's never seen a chaos emerald glow like this during an eclipse. The moon was almost directly over the sun. The chaos emerald glowed even brighter. Then Shadow saw glows of different colors everywhere. There was one in the city, one in the ocean, one in the forest, one in the desert, and one on the move. He knew Sonic had one, so the one on the move must be his. The moon was now blocking the sun entirely. His emerald, suddenly, glowed rapidly. He couldn't see anything. All he could see was white. Why is this happening? Then he started to feel dizzy. He tried to stay awake, but it was too strong. He fell to the ground, and the last thing he saw was white turning into black.
"What do you think we should do with it?" Luna heard a voice as she opened her eyes. She slowly got up and started to stretch. Then she felt some pain flowing through her body. It must have been because of the fall.
"Look, it's waking up."
"Stand your guard men. It could be dangerous." Luna heard two more voices. Wait, dangerous? How could Luna be dangerous? She could see a little clearer now, but what she saw frightened her. There were four creatures surrounding her. They had a metal surface and each had two lights shinning at her. Beside the eight lights shinning in her eye, she could see four different creatures beside the metal ones. They all had tanish colored skin with brown colored manes. Only, these creatures weren't ponies at all. They had blue coats on top of their skin. Luna thought they looked a little like Twilight's assistant, Spike. Only they didn't seem to look like dragons.
"Do you think it's one of Sonic's friends?" One creature asked.
"Or Dr. Eggman's allies." Another creature questioned.
"I wonder if it can talk."
"What are you talking about? Only humans and Sonic's friends can talk." The creatures questioned each other. Then they all got into an argument about weather or not she could talk. They were all yelling back and forth at each other. Luna couldn't take it anymore.
"SILENCE!" She yelled using her Royal Canterlot voice. They all froze and were stunned at her shout. "Now then, can somepony tell me who you are and where I am?" She asked the creatures.
"It can talk!"
"What do we do now?"
"We bring it to the GUN leader. They'll know what to do." They started to close in on her. Luna was getting a little scared. She used her teleportation spell to get away from the small crowd. She appeared behind one of the creatures who turned to see her looking down onto him.
"She can use magic."
"How do you know it's a she?"
"I don't. I just guessed."
"Well get her before she gets away." They leaped for her. Luna teleported again back to the same spot she once was.
"I better not stay." She said to herself. She spread her wings and flew off. She flew to a nearby forest. "What did they mean when they said the GUN leader?" She thought to herself.
------------------------------------------------
"Just what was that all about?" Shadow woke up to find nothing had changed. Although the moon was still in front of the sun. That wasn't normal. Then he heard something come from his transmitter.
"We have discovered something out of the ordinary. Our officers couldn't catch this odd creature. They said they saw it fly to the forest near you. Your mission is to investigate and find out where this creature came from and what it is. You will then report to us about your findings." It said.
"Understood." He replied. He looked at the forest behind him and dashed into it. An odd creature? Did this have to do with the glow from the chaos emeralds he saw when the eclipse occurred? He wanted to find out as well.
As he sped through the forest, all he could see was trees. Nothing out of the ordinary. He continued to search. Nothing. Maybe he'll get a better view from the top. He ran up one of the taller trees, but still nothing. Then something flew past him. He couldn't make it out for it was the same color as the nighttime sky. He followed it until it came to a stop above a small lake. Then it floated down to the ground to rest. Shadow didn't want it to see him so he hid behind one of the trees. He looked over to see...a pony? An alicorn to be exact. It looked a little confused.
"Why didn't those creatures answer me? Where do I go from here? What was that light that happened after my eclipse?" The alicorn questioned herself. She looked at her reflection and let out a tear realizing that she now had no one to talk to. Who is she, and what was she doing here? What does she mean when she said her eclipse? What is going on?
Just then, something appeared from the other side of the lake. Out of the trees came robots that looked small and round in size. Shadow recognized them as some of the Doctor's machines. He must have known about the alicorn and sent them after it. First there was five, then ten, then fifteen. They kept coming until there was only fifty surrounding the alicorn. Four of them carried a cage big enough to fit the alicorn in it. The alicorn stood her guard and waited for them to attack. They fired their guns at her, but she cast a spell to protect her from there fire. Magic? Then she cast counter spells to repel them back into the forest. BAM! She was shot on her left wing which looked like it was bruised and broken. She couldn't fly to escape now. She tried to swallow the pain to fight, but the robots were to quick. They shot at her from all directions and she became weaker every shot they took. They had their cage ready for her. She needed help.
"CHAOS SPEAR!" Shadow took action. As he said this, spears of chaotic energy shot from his hand and darted toward the robots. The spears shot in all directions destroying robots as they interacted with them. Soon all the robots were destroyed, nothing stood but the injured alicorn and the black hedgehog.
"I thank thee for your assistance." Luna said to Shadow as she cast a spell to heal her. In no time at all she was back to normal. She had many questions on her mind, and she was determined to get some answers.
"You seemed like you needed it." Shadow replied. He too was curios about what was going on.
"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Princess Luna, ruler of the night and of Equestria."
"I'm Shadow the Hedgehog, the ultimate life form, and what do you mean when you say you're the ruler of the night and of Equestria?"
"Equestria is where I live. It's home to all ponies both old and young. It's also filled with lush forests, towering mountains, vast plains, and open oceans. My sister and I are the rulers of this land, and we control both day and night. Now I must ask you, where am I, and where is everypony?" Luna proudly explained. Shadow was now confused. Equestria? Ponies? Princesses that control day and night? None of it made any sense.
"You somehow managed to enter my world, Mobius. It's a little similar to your world only we don't have citizens like you, and we don't have rulers of both day and night."
"That makes sense, considering the fact that I've only seen...different creatures already."
"But, how is possible that Equestria has collided with Mobius?"
"Sadly, I can't answer your question. All I know is I appeared in this world right after the solar eclipse. Then the Elements of Harmony started to glow which spread across all over Equestria."
"Wait, you saw the glow during the eclipse as well? Strange."
"What is strange?"
"The fact that there was an eclipse in both worlds at the same time, and the glows as well."
"That is strange."
"Speaking of the eclipse, why hasn't the moon passed the sun yet? It's been there longer than it should." They both noticed the night sky was still there.
-----------------------------------------------------------
"Allow me." Luna flew up to the sky. She looked at the moon covering the sun. Then she concentrated her magic on the moon. She tried to move it, to no avail. She tried again, but it wouldn't budge. Strange. Luna has always been able to move the moon in the sky, so why couldn't she move it now. She tried once more and put all of her power into it. Nothing. It seemed like the sun needed to move as well. Luna suddenly thought of her sister. Celestia was no where to be found. They must have gotten separated when the worlds collided. She flew back down to where Shadow was standing.
"I can't move it. I need my sister's help."
"What do you mean you can't move it? You've moved the moon before, haven't you?"
"Yes, but for some reason it's too hard to move. It feels like the sun keeps it in place. I need to find Celestia for her help."
"How do we find her? We have no idea where to start."
"Well, those creatures in the city said something about a GUN leader. Maybe they have some useful information."
"They told me to get information. They probably have no idea about you or Equestria."
"Wait, they told you to get information? Do you work for them?"
"Yes, I'm one of their advanced officers. They send me on lots of dangerous missions that mostly involve destroying those machines that attacked you."
"That's another thing. What was the deal with them? Why did they attack me?"
"They were all built by an evil man named Dr. Robotnik whom, I assume, found out about you and sent his army after you."
"So if he knows about me, then he must know about everypony else. He must have my sister!" Luna ran off into the forest. Shadow followed and soon caught up to her.
"You don't even know where to look."
"Then it's a good thing you're with me."
"Wait, Luna." They came to a stop. "He's way too powerful for us to handle alone. Maybe we should start looking for the chaos emeralds first."
"Chaos emeralds?"
"Their mystical gems that contain a tremendous amount of energy. They help a lot during any battles. There are seven of them total, and I've already got one." He took out his chaos emerald which was in a bright shade of green and it glowed in his hand. He showed it to Luna.
"How do we find them?"
"They are all connected to each other, and they react to each other when they are close by."
"And my gem finding spell can help as well. So where do we start?" Shadow looked into the emerald.
"There's another one here in the forest somewhere."
"Alright." Luna channeled energy to her horn, which lit with a night colored aura. She looked left, then right. She walked around to try and get a better reception. Then lifted her head again.
"That way." She announced and they raced off.
Chapter 2: Don't make me mad
They headed toward a clearing in the forest where they found an island in the center of the lake. A blue glow was coming from the small island.
"There it is." Shadow pointed to the glow. Luna stopped the spell she had been casting to find the emerald. She spread her wings to fly to the small island. She looked back to tell Shadow she was going to get it, but he was no where in sight. Instead, he appeared on the island and was achieving the blue gem. Then he disappeared again and reappeared next to Luna.
"What was that?" She asked.
"What was what?"
"You were here, then you were there, and now your here again."
"That's called Chaos control. It allows me to control time and space. It can also teleport me to where ever I want."
"Oh, I get it. It reminds me of my teleportation spell. Allow me to demonstrate." Her horn lit up. In a flash, she was standing on the island herself. Then she reappeared back to where Shadow was standing.
"That could be useful in the future." He said impressed.
"To me, that is." Said a voice that came from behind. They both turned to see a bald ape in a red jumpsuit sitting in a hover pod. Shadow immediately jumped in front of Luna to guard her from the new comer.
"Is that..." Luna started.
"Yes." Shadow finished.
"I see I've already been introduced. It is a pleasure to finally meet you, Princess Luna, and of course Shadow." He bowed before the alicorn. Luna was getting confused.
"What do you want, Doctor?" Shadow demanded. "My emeralds?"
"Actually, I came for Her Royal Majesty." Robotnik gestured Luna. "You see, both Luna and Celestia have incredible power that I desire." Luna suddenly remembered her sister.
"What have you done with Celestia, you monster?!" Luna flew up to where Robotnik was sitting. She had a mean and aggressive look on her face.
"Now, let's not have any trouble." The Doctor said, shocked.
"There WILL be trouble if you don't answer my question!" Luna aggressively ordered. Robotnik, then, had a smirk on his face.
"Your dear sister will be alright. I just took her to my lab to harness her power." He said in a grateful way. Luna, full of anger, backed off. "But something's missing. Something of even more power. Then your sister mentioned you. I tracked you down to achieve you and your magic. And it looks like I've made good progress." Robotnik laughed. Then he pushed one of the buttons on his pod. As he did so, hundreds of Robots appeared and surrounded Luna. "Now, with the two princess's power combined, I will rule all of Mobius and of Equestria. HAHAHAHAHA!" He laughed, triumphantly.
"How could this be happening?" Luna thought to herself. "Tia and I, used for power? That's just..." Luna closed her eyes and felt a great deal of even more power. She was so upset and so angry that this was happening. She sheds a tear.
-------------------------------------------------
"CHAOS SPEAR!" Shadow, felling an abundant amount of pain and sorrow, took action and started to fight off the robots surrounding him and Luna. He had to protect Luna, but at the same time comfort her. But how? He's never helped anyone this way before. Then what he saw next was extraordinary. Luna started to change shape. Her mane and tail grew longer and her coat changed from blue to black. She also seemed to have armor on her. When she opened her eyes, they changed into a light green color. She seemed to have changed into a much more evil Luna.
"Well, this is new. I new you had power, but this is impressive." The Doctor commented.
"LET MY SISTER GO!" She shouted at the top of her lungs. It was so loud, it blew away every robot.
"LUNA!" Shadow shouted to get her attention. But she didn't listen. Her full attention was fixed on Robotnik.
"Should you refuse to release Princess Celestia rather than let her go, let all allies of the night haunt you and destroy you until the rest of your days." Luna decreed. Then she flew full speed at the shocked Doctor. When she was only ten feet in front of him, she spun and kicked Robotnik sending him back from witch he came.
"AAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaahhhhhh....." Was all that was heard from him.
Meanwhile, Luna didn't seem to calm down. She was breathing so hard and she had a very aggressive look on her face. "Luna?" Shadow shocked at what became of Luna. The evil princess sharply turned her head and looked at Shadow. "Calm down Luna. Everything's going to be fine." Shadow tried to comfort her. Luna, realizing what she had done, became calm. Then she transformed back into her original self. She looked sad after what happened.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't control myself." Luna cried.
"That was terrible." Luna sighed. She and Shadow had been discussing the incident that happened to Luna, while they were nearing the edge of the forest. They were tracking down the third chaos emerald, which happened to be in the city somewhere. But they weren't in a rush.
"What happened back there? What made you turn into...that?" Shadow questioned.
"I guess it was my anger that turned me into Night Mare Moon...it brings back terrible memories." Luna explained sadly.
"Memories? You mean, it's happened before?"
"Sadly, yes. Over a thousand years ago, my sister and I ruled all of Equestria in peace and harmony. We have been defeating evil and all its treacherous ways using the elements of harmony, which are the sources of our power. They are a little similar to your chaos emeralds. Anyway, my sister and I were the guardians of both day and night. But one day, something terrible happened to me."
* * * * * * * * * * * * *
The young Luna looked at the sky as the sun started to set. Then she looked down from the balcony to see everypony was going inside for the night to come. As everypony waved goodbye to their friends, Luna let out a grave sigh.
"What's wrong, my little sister?" Celestia came out of the castle to the balcony to see her sister full of sorrow.
"How come everypony likes to play during the day and not during the night? I mean, I want to play with everypony too. But every time I raise the moon, everypony is sleeping." Luna said flat out.
"Now Luna, you know everypony needs their rest, especially during the night. Besides, they've got a lot of work to do during the day. They need the sun to help grow their crops during the times when it isn't winter." Celestia explained.
"I know, but what about all the younger ponies who play all day, but rest during the night. I want them to see how my night can be just as fun." Luna complained. Celestia was beginning to get cross with Luna.
"Luna, don't you start..." Celestia started.
"Just because everypony loves your day so much, it doesn't make it special!" Luna shouted.
"Now, just a minute. That's going too far..." Celestia started again.
"My night is special too. The reason why nopony notices it is because they wake up to see your day! Well, you know what!? I'll just have to make everypony see how special my night is!" Luna shouted. Then she took off to raise the moon into the sky and set the stars in their place. After a while, it was time for the sun to rise. But Luna refused to let down the moon. Celestia wondered why the moon wasn't setting. She took off from the castle to search for Luna. She searched everywhere, from Canterlot to West Saddlerabia. Finally, she found Luna in the ancient ruins located in the Everfree Forest. Only, she wasn't Luna anymore, she was an evil alicorn named Night Mare Moon. Celestia couldn't believe what had happened to her sister.
"Why so shocked, my sister? Don't you realize that it is your fault nopony knows my night? It's because of you the night will last forever! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Night Mare Moon laughed triumphantly.
"Luna, why? Why are you doing this to everypony, to Equestria, to me?" Celestia cried.
"Because I want what you have, Princess. I want everypony's love. I want them all see what my night can do. I want to rule all of Equestria and of you!" Night Mare Moon explained.
"And you think it will all happen by taking away the day and bringing nighttime eternal? Because your wrong. The true power is friendship and harmony!" Suddenly, the Elements of Harmony appeared and floated around Celestia. Night Mare Moon started to get a little worried. She knew how powerful the Elements were. "What you need is some time to think about what you've done." Celestia finished. With a tear in her eye, she channeled energy into the Elements and blasted their power toward Night Mare Moon. A rainbow ribbon surrounded her and she was sent flying out of the forest toward the moon, where she stayed for a thousand years.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
"I'm sorry you had to go through all of that." Shadow said, letting everything sink in. He couldn't believe how Luna had to go through all of that. It reminded him of his past.
"I appreciate your help. It's been taking effect during this time too. Nopony understands the way I feel. Nopony excepts me as a friend now that they know what I once was." Luna sighed with a depressed tone.
"I can relate to your pain." Shadow replied. Luna looked at Shadow. "See, more than fifty years ago, I was created to be the ultimate life form by Professor Gerald Robotnik. My purpose was to be a cure for a rare disease. Maria, Gerald's granddaughter, had that disease, so she couldn't stay on Mobius. She was aboard the Space Colony Ark her whole life. I was created to help and protect her while she was there. But then one night..." Shadow explained.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Alarms were sound everywhere. Red lights flashing indicating intruders. GUN forces running all over the Ark trying to track down this dangerous weapon. Professor Gerald panicked and ran out of his lab, but made sure all of his experiments were kept a secret. He couldn't believe what was happening.
"No...no...not now!" He said to himself. He suddenly thought about his granddaughter. He ran everywhere trying to find Maria. Suddenly, something grabbed him by his wrist. And he was sent running toward the main room where all the controls for the Ark were located. In front of him was Shadow and Maria running for their dear lives. GUN forces followed closely behind.
"Shadow, I'm scared." Maria cried.
"Just hold on!" Shadow called back. They were almost to the control room when Gerald was caught by the GUN forces. Maria looked back, but kept running. She wondered what would happen once they reached the control room. What would anyone do at this time? By the time they reached the control room, they had no where else to go. They looked everywhere to find some sort of escape. Then Maria caught sight of the controls that launched the escape pods. She, then looked at Shadow, who was standing on top of one of the platforms looking for some other way to escape. Maria, knowing what had to be done, pushed one of the buttons on the control panel. The escape pod right above Shadow fell and sealed him inside. Shadow, shocked, looked back at Maria, who was about to pull a lever to release the pod from the Ark down to Mobius. Just as she got a hold of it, the GUN forces came into the room.
"Stop right there." The commander ordered. But Maria didn't listen. She stood there holding the lever, trying to find the courage to pull it. Shadow couldn't believe what was happening. How could he let this happen to her? He started to pound on the glass, but he couldn't even make a crack.
"I said STOP!" The commander ordered again. Maria ignored him again. She couldn't back out now. She started to pull the lever, but as she did, the only thing both Maria and Shadow could feel was pain. The commander took the shot, which stoke Maria down and almost made Shadow shed a tear. The GUN left the room, believing that she hadn't survived. Once they were gone, Maria used all the strength she had left to get up and pull the lever once again.
"MARIA!" Shadow shouted. He couldn't bear to watch what was happening to Maria. Then Maria said something he'll never forget.
"Please, Shadow...I beg you. For all the people who live on that planet. Give them a chance to be happy...and they will live blessed lives...Then our wish will be realized...This is the reason why you were brought into this world."
"MARIA!"
"Sayanara....Shadow the hedgehog." She breathed her last. She fell to the floor, pulling the lever all the way. Shadow's pod was released into space, and headed toward Mobius. Shadow, contained inside, couldn't do anything to save Maria.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
"Fifty years later, I wanted to seek revenge for what they did to her. But Sonic and his friends helped me see what Maria really wanted. Ever since then, I've kept that promise and protected Mobius with my life." Shadow concluded. Luna let all of it sink in. She didn't think anypony else would have to go through that. Then she smiled.
"At least you and I have something in common." Luna started. Shadow looked back at her. "We both understand what we've been through. We both protect both of our worlds. And we both are two of the most powerful creatures in both of our worlds. I'm glad we had a chance to finally meet each other, Shadow." Luna smiled. Shadow realized Luna was right. They do have something in common. Luna smiled at Shadow and they both looked into the nighttime sky. They knew now that they must work together to save both of their worlds. And they wouldn't rest until the job was done.

Far off on a farm field lay an unconscious Applejack with her Element of Honesty wrapped around her neck. Only, the Element wasn't as bright as it should be. It seemed to not have the power it should have. But suddenly, the Element started to glow and regain it's power. It lifted AJ in the air and it started to revive her from her from her sleep. She stood up and looked around.
"Where am I? What 'appened to ever'pony?" She said as she looked around to find only farm land and nopony there. What she did find, however, was a nearby city. "Maybe I'll find out over there." She started to trot towards the city.
Shadow stood on the hill outside of the city again, wondering about what just happened and what he had done. He thought about it for a long time. "Was it right to do that?" He asked himself. Then he felt something he's never felt before. It was a kind of pain that he didn't recognize. He felt a little pain in his heart, and he wasn't used to it. He began to wonder if this was because he let Luna go like that. Whatever it was, he didn't like it and he wanted to get rid of the feeling. He tried not to think about Luna, but the pain wouldn't go. He looked at the solar eclipse that was the main attraction in the nighttime sky. Why was this happening? What should he do now?
-----------------------------------------
It was just awful for Luna. She was trapped inside a room where there was nothing but steal walls surrounding her. She wasn't claustrophobic, but she was scared out of her misery. She's never been so terrified before. What were they planning on doing with her? How was she going to escape this? She had no idea what they were about to do to her. Just then, she was hit with something hard, so hard that it passed her out. She laid on the cold, hard ground in the room. Four other soldiers came into the room and carried the unconscious alicorn out of the room.
Later, Luna woke up and found herself strapped down to a bedspread. She could see strange tools sitting all over the new room. Her hooves were stuck inside the metal straps that kept her in place. She squirmed in her position, but she couldn't free herself. Then something moved in front of her. It wasn't human, but it was a more robotic machine carrying some sharp tools. Luna, then, realized what was about to happen, and she panicked. She squirmed even more. She tried using the teleportation spell, but it didn't work. Nothing worked. She was trapped, about to become a science experiment. Then, despite the fact that all hope was lost for her, she cried, "SHADOW!!!" using her royal canterlot voice.
---------------------------------------------
Suddenly, Shadow had the urge to go back and rescue Luna from GUN. He didn't know what made him do it, but by traveling at the speed of sound, he was inside the city in an instant. He sped to the building, inside the room Luna laid in, and attacked the robot that was about to cut her in half. After Shadow's attack, the robot lay in scraps on the floor. Shadow went over to Luna to release her.
"You came back?" Luna asked as her hooves were set free.
"I don't know why, but yes, I did." Shadow replied. Luna stood up, and as she did, and alarm was set off. "We need to go now." Shadow commanded. Then he and Luna sped through the halls of the building. "Get yourself out while I find the chaos emerald." Shadow ordered.
"I'm not leaving without you!" Luna replied. She couldn't leave him now. Not after what she's been through. Shadow looked at her. Moved with pity, he let her come along. Luna's horn lit up again to help find which room the emerald was hidden in. The zoomed past many rooms and halls, until they came to a stop in front of the control room. They looked inside to find only a grey chaos emerald shinning in the middle of the room and nothing else. They entered the room, quickly grabbed the emerald, and exit the building quickly. They sped toward the outside of the city to make sure they weren't being followed. They came to a stop at the hill of which Shadow liked to stand. They had a chance to catch their breath, and the looked back at the city then at each other. With the past behind them, the nodded to each other and headed to their next destination.

Laying on one of the more puffier clouds lay an unconscious Rainbow Dash with her element of harmony, loyalty, around her neck.. Like AJ's, the element wasn't as bright as it should have been. But after the event Luna and Shadow had gone through, her element, suddenly, lit up. She was lifted into the air and was revived from her sleep. She stood on the cloud and looked around, only to find the cloudy sky at nighttime.
"Wha...what happened?" She asked herself. Then she remembered her friends. She looked down from her cloud to find a city in the distance. Then she spread her wings and took off, thinking there might be something there that would help her find her friends. But she also saw a blue light speeding through the land. She decided maybe the city can wait, and find out what that blue light was.

Chapter 6: Where's that DAMN Fourth Chaos Emerald?!
Shadow and Luna couldn't tell where the next chaos emerald was...or where it was going. As Luna tried to follow the emerald using her gem finding spell again, Shadow was getting impatient about the fact that it kept moving from place to place. Luna walked one way, then another way, then another way, but she couldn't figure out where to go.
"Do you have any idea where that DAMN fourth chaos emerald is?!" Shadow said impatiently.
"It feels like it's on the move, and fast." Luna replied. Then her horn stopped glowing. "Maybe I'll find something from a bird's eye view." She said. She spread her wings and flew up into the nighttime sky. She looked behind her to look back at Shadow, but he wasn't on the ground. Instead, he was...flying? No, floating. Well, something was powering my shoes that lifted him into the air. Luna was shocked. "I didn't know you could do that!" Luna said to Shadow as he got closer to Luna.
"Well then behold, I can fly." Shadow proudly told Luna with a grin on his face. Luna put her hoof to her mouth to hide her giggle. Then, Luna lit her horn again, and they flew on. They looked all over the forest, the desert, and the plains. Finally, as they headed toward the ocean, they saw two figures standing on the beach. Luna felt the emerald coming from the figures.
"There." Luna pointed to the two figures. They flew down into the trees to hide from the figures. They peeked from behind the trees and they were both relieved and disappointed at who they saw.
"I want a rematch!" said the Rainbow pegasus.
"Oh, come on Dash. That was already the third rematch. I'm starting to get a little tired of this." said the blue hedgehog.
"Just one more, I know I'll beat you this time."
"You and I both know that was a close race."
"I know, that's why I want a rematch."
"Thank heaven." Luna said, relieved to finally see one of Twilight's friends.
"Oh, no." Shadow said, disappointed to see his faker. Then the two friends looked into the forest, where Shadow and Luna hid. Quickly, they both went back behind the trees again, but the two friends could see Shadow's red strips on his hair and Luna's flowing mane.
"Nice to see ya again, Shadow." said the blue hedgehog.
"And you too, Princess Luna." said the rainbow pegasus. Then they stepped out of the shadows and walked toward the two friends.
"And to you as well, my good friend." Luna stepped out of the shadows. Shadow sighed and followed.
"WHOA! I didn't know you had a twin!" the rainbow pegasus said to the blue hedgehog.
"Actually, he's my faker. Meet Shadow the hedgehog." the blue hedgehog gestured Shadow. "By the way, did you say princess?" he asked the pegasus.
"Oh yeah, this is Princess Luna." the pegasus gestured Luna. The blue hedgehog bowed his head as customary.
"It seems you know us well, now what are your names?" Luna asked.
"I'm Sonic, Sonic the Hedgehog." announced the blue hedgehog.
"And I'm Rainbow Dash." announced the rainbow pegasus.
"Do you guys know why the eclipse hasn't passed yet?" Sonic asked. Luna lowered her head in shame. Shadow, moved, explained for her. He told them about how the emeralds and the elements both reacted to each other when both solar eclipses occurred. He also explained how Celestia was kidnapped by the Doctor and how he and Luna are now in search for the chaos emerald to try and fight him off to rescue her.
"We already have three and we tracked one here." Shadow concluded.
"You mean this?" Sonic pulled out his chaos emerald which was yellow/gold in color.
"How come they're called emeralds if they're not all green?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"I didn't name them." Sonic replied. "And, another thing, why are you doing this alone? You know I like kicking Eggman's butt."
"Eggman?" Luna asked.
"A name Sonic and his friends call the Doctor." Shadow explained. "And, if you don't mind, we've been doing just fine on our own."
"Oh, come on Shadow. Don't take all the fun." Sonic complained.
"Is it fun to beat him at everything?" Rainbow asked.
"It's a little similar to winning, Dash." Sonic replied.
"Well, I like that feeling!" Rainbow boasted.
"I have an idea." Luna interrupted. Everyone looked at her to hear what she had to say. "What if we, Shadow and I, race you two for the emerald."
"Are you sure, Princess?" Sonic asked.
"Yeah, we're like the fastest things alive. How can you two defeat us?" Rainbow added. Luna looked at the nighttime sky and smiled.
"I have my ways." Luna, then, looked at Shadow and winked. Shadow, having no clue what she was thinking, looked back at Sonic.
"Are you guys in, or not?" Shadow asked.
"I'm in, Dash?" Sonic said.
"Definitely." Rainbow replied.
"Then, it's settled. We'll race from here to the forest, to the desert, and back." Shadow explained.
"Good luck everypony." Luna smiled.
"You, the same." Sonic replied.
As they approached the city, Luna started to feel more aware of her surroundings. She had learned from her experience with the humans, and she didn't want anymore trouble. Shadow, on the other hand, paid more attention on finding the chaos emerald hidden inside the city. He sped through the city at the speed of sound searching the streets and on top of buildings for the emerald. Then he ran back to Luna, who was walking down a deserted part of the city.
"No luck." He informed her. Luna wondered about something else.
"Not to change the subject, but how are you able to run that fast without wings?" She asked.
"I was created to run that fast, but I'm not the only one who can travel at the speed of sound." He answered. Luna looked at him realizing that running that fast was natural in Mobius.
"Should I use my gem finding spell again?" She said.
"Yeah, I can't find it anywhere." He replied. With that said, Luna's horn lit up again. She looked left, then right. Then she started walking toward big tower. It read GUN forces on the top of its entrance.
"Oh, no." Luna and Shadow said together. It was bad news for Luna because these were the humans who gave her trouble before. It was bad news for Shadow because whatever goes to the GUN stays there. If he were to talk the emerald away from them, because they're humans and they act this way, they would hate him again. They both looked at each other worried about what will happen when they walk in. Then they looked back at the building and started to walk toward it. As they approached the building, Luna had a strange feeling about something. When they got to the point where they were just a few feet away from the door, a net fell on top of Luna. It was pulled down to the ground, and Luna fell with it. Four GUN soldiers held the net down with all of their might. Luna, trapped, tried to set herself free by pushing up on the net, but the forces were too strong. Shadow stood by amused, but calm. Then Commander Tower emerged from the building. He looked at the helpless alicorn, then at Shadow.
"Good work Shadow. We'll take it from here." The commander said to Shadow, who looked at Luna. Luna looked back at Shadow with a look saying, "Why?" Shadow looked away from Luna, hiding his empathy. Then he disappeared leaving poor Luna in the GUN's hands. Luna looked at the commander.
"What do you want from me?" Luna said eagerly.
"We just want to run some tests." The commander replied with a grin in his face. He looked at his soldiers and nodded at them. As he did, the four soldiers took the net with the alicorn trapped inside and hauled it into the building. Luna, scared, looked at the nighttime sky wondering, "Did he mean to do this?" referring to Shadow.
