The Host of Insanity

Insanity dawns upon all who live. Be it something as harmless as OCD, to something as serious as schizophrenia. We each make a choice, to fear it, or embrace it. Those who embrace it are exiled to 'hospitals' where they are to be cured, but they don't want to be cured. They find their insanity to be greatness. Richard Darren had his greatness thrust upon him one night, when his father hit him a little too hard across the head with a metal baseball bat. He has embraced the side of insanity for as long as he can remember, but all greatness comes at a cost. He has another side to him, a side tainted by the touch of reality, one whose morals are all but nonexistent. He has hidden this side of him from the outside world, but his alter ego can still taunt him, persuade him, and remind him that if he slips up once, he will be gone forever in his void of a mind.

But relief comes in the form of creativity, or more specifically acting. It can be any kind of acting, on paper in his fanfics, or on stage in one of his plays. But the other side of him waits and waits, slowly gaining domain over Richard's mind, body and soul. Richard knows that he is losing time, and yet he waits patiently for his time to come. Until one night he comes back to his cell and hears the soothing voice of a very familiar princess. He decides that enough is enough. He is done waiting. His time is now.
