Chapters A long time ago in ancient Equestria, there lived all kinds of animals, even ponies who worked together in friendship and harmony, ruled over by what they called their God. This God was said to be a great, underground whale that watched over the land, and there was more than one. They protected and guarded the land by deciding who was good and who was bad. The good were unharmed and were protected by all kinds of danger, but the bad were eaten and killed, never to see another daylight again. Everything from land to the creatures were protected from harms way ... until a very fateful day.
The gods were supposedly angry and destroyed anything in sight, eating the innocents and the guilty. The ponies, all of them, left their homes and traveled to find a new and better home, thus forgetting Equestria. The ponies then tried to find out why the gods were angry and came up with one solution ... the other race did it, the other two pony races angered the gods. From then on the Pegasi, unicorns, and earth ponies hated eachother from then on.
Back in Equestria, the gods were eating more and more creatures that were innocent and the creatures were sick of it. One race, the changelings, had an idea, they would transform into a God and find out what's wrong. They did so and found out that the Gods were never protecting anything, they couldn't see or smell, but they can hear and they hunt by hearing. The Changeling king, king Manti, was furious and wanted these beasts to end, so he thought of a plan to trap these beasts.
With the help of the other creatures they made enough sound to lure all the land whales into a hard-rock prison that had a sleep spell put on it so the beasts could sleep for millions of years. The problem was not all fell for the trap, only one got away and it lived way underground where it could never harm the topside creatures again.
Some ponies say that every one thousand years, the beast would return to hunt for one day on the topside, learning how everything changes. Others say that the beast is out there right now, choosing to live in the heart of the Everfree forest where his fellow friends are, protecting them from danger. One pony though, says that the beast is staying near the earths core, waiting for the right moment to return to his home and feast others once more.
It was past 12:00 at night in the quiet town of Appaloosa, everything was peaceful and so quiet. Out in the desert an earth pony stallion was running from what appeared to be nothing. He was frightened though and knew that it was there, following him. A couple feet away from the stallion the dirt rose like if something was pushing it up and it followed the stallion. The stallion was now at the apple orchards and was so close. He climbed up a tree and waited there while the dirt hit the tree, full on collision. The stallion tried to stay on the branch, but the branch broke and he fell. Hurt and in pain, the stallion laid there as the dirt came closer. The night was filled with screams as the Stallion was being eaten. Then the screaming ceased, the poor sucker was gone, never to see daylight again.
In the morning, everypony went their normal ways as the sheriff hanged up another missing pony poster. He was getting tired of this nonsense, "Dang it, we have to do something here, this is the twentieth missing this week. I'm trying my best to find the culprit and keep ponies away from that infernal desert, but now we need a plan. We gotta either get the princesses, which is not working, or the main six, the elements. Braeburn you got to get them."
Braeburn, Applejack's cousin, refused, "I don't want to put more ponies in danger, sheriff. I suggest we high-tail it out of here with the buffalo and head out to another town or city, it is too dangerous to live here now. What if the culprit is a, monster, a huge monster that loves eating meat."
The sheriff had thought this through and decided, "Alright, we head out in three days. Braeburn I want you to go get the buffalo and tell them that we all are gonna travel to a safer town."
Braeburn accepted and headed out to the buffalo camp. It took a couple minutes to get there, but he made it. What he saw was an empty camp, filled with nothing. It looked like they left, but their stuff was still there, old and moldy food too. Braeburn couldn't figure out why they would leave all their stuff here until he checked behind one of the tents. The sight he witnessed was horrific, remains of a buffalo was everywhere, but there was just one. It was the chief leader, dead with a fighting look on his face.
Braeburn took his hat off and waited a moment of silence for the death of the buffalo. Just then he heard a noise. Braeburn turned around and saw an injured buffalo child. Braeburn quickly picked her up and carried her to the town hospital back at Appaloosa. After the two left a small snake-like tentacle rose from the ground and then retracted back underground.
When Braeburn got back into town he quickly ran into the hospital with the buffalo child on his back. From then on the doctors took care of her. Braeburn then headed out to find the sheriff, but was met with ponies eyes filled with curiosity. One pony had asked what happened, another asked if the buffalo kid would be alright. Braeburn couldn't deal with this now so he quickly ran past the crowd and found the sheriff.
"Sheriff, sheriff. There's something you should know." called out Braeburn.
The sheriff was intrigued, also wondering why the only buffalo that came was an injured child. "Yes Braeburn, what is it?" asked the sheriff.
Braeburn took a deep breathe before starting, "Sir, we were too late, there was nothing at the buffalo camp, but remains of the leader. The remains were days, maybe Weeks ago. All that was left were the tents, moldy food, their stuff, and that injured buffalo child. Sir I think the culprit is not a killer, but beast on our hooves. Either we hunt it or leave."
Chapter 2: Second Chapter
They traveled far and wide, but the Appaloosans found the town they were looking for, Ponyville. The mayor of Ponyville saw how many ponies were entering her town and demanded to know why.
"Excuse me sheriff, but why is all of Appaloosa here and not back at your town?" the mayor asked.
The sheriff turned his attention to the mayor with an answer, "Sorry Mayor, but there's a killer monster on the loose at Appaloosa and we tried to contact the princesses and it didn't work. The only choice for survival was to leave."
The mayor understood perfectly and allowed the ponies to stay. The town folk had thanked her and settled in. Applejack, seeing all this from her stand, wanted to help her cousin and had thought of an idea. Applejack ran over to Twilight's house and knocked on her door. Spike, the little baby dragon and assistant to Twilight, had answered the door.
"Hey, wassup Applejack. Why are there a whole bunch of ponies coming to town all of a sudden?" asked the baby dragon, seeing the Appaloosans moving in.
Applejack didn't really know so she said, "I'm sorry Spike, but I don't know, said something 'bout a beast that been hunting them and ... you know what, I need to see Twilight, the next part is a little too much for children."
Spike held the door to let Applejack in, thinking about what it could be that is not for children. Twilight came out of her room to go and pick up a few things, bringing along her check list.
"Twilight, Twilight. I need to talk to you about something. We also might need a book to find something." Applejack franticly yelled.
"Sure, what is it?" asked Twilight.
Applejack looked to see if Spike was close enough, but he was cleaning the shelves at the other side of the library. Applejack then came closer and whispered, "Twi, we have a beast that eats others on the loose. They killed the buffalo in Appaloosa and the Appaloosans were also being hunted down. We need to do something to stop that varmit's killing spree."
Twilight was surprised and a little horrified, but was confident nonetheless. She ran to Spike and told him to find any book that talked about carnivore animals. It took a little while to explain what a carnivore was, but she summed it up to meat eaters. Spike obeyed and searched for any book with "meat eaters". Twilight then asked, "Hey, what did they say the beast looked like?"
Applejack didn't hear anything about what it looked like and answered, "I'm sorry Twi, I really am, but they didn't see what it was that was killing everything."
Twilight was now determine to investigate what the new creature is.
Back in Appaloosa all life, except some insects, were long gone. The dirt rose up to reveal some tentacles, three in fact, that were searching for food. The tentacles retracted and the dirt was moved as an underground beast was cutting through, heading straight for what looked like the Changeling Empire, hearing chittering noises from the insect ponies.
Twilight, hinting the want of knowledge, headed for the sheriff of Appaloosa with many questions. "Hey sheriff,I gotta ask you some questions." said Twilight.
The sheriff was surprised, she sneaked up on him somehow. "Well what kind of questions?" asked the sheriff, fearing what the questions might be.
"It has something to do with your so-called monster. My friends and I need to know what it looked like so we can find it in our books, it might have some information even with how to stop it." answered Twilight. This made the sheriff feel guilty, not knowing what the creature even is.
The sheriff answered with, "I'm so sorry ma'am, but I nor the town folk had seen the deadly creature. All we know is that it hunts in the desert and always gets its victims."
Twilight was disappointed, but now she had one other pony to ask ... well two, Braeburn and Princess Celestia.
Chapter 3: Changeling Kingdom
Fang, the son of the queen of changelings, was never aloud outside, "Mom, can I go out, I wanna make friends. I'm too cooped up in this castle."
Chrysalis, the queen, was tired of telling him, "No Fang, you don't know what could happen out there. You're my only son and I want to keep you safe."
Fang wasn't surprised about the answer, he always asked every day. Fang wanted to live, he wanted to smell the fresh air, he wanted to get out of this castle.
" ALERT, ALERT, ENEMY SIGHTED " said an enemy-sighting alarm,a siren of warning was heard throughout the kingdom. The changeling soldiers got to their areas of attack and readied. The enemy was nowhere to be seen. The alarm must have malfunction ... but there was no alarm anymore, only a hole. The insect chittering was becoming more loud, making the culprit surface.
"Your majesty- AHHHHH" the changeling was being eaten by a big ... worm of some sorts.
"GRABOID, ATTACK." yelled another changeling. All the changelings know of the Graboid and attacked. The Graboid ate and then dug down, knowing what happened last time he faced changelings. The beast then took the dirt from the ground, making the kingdom crumble and fall. Many changelings died, but enough to remake a kingdom lived. The queen, stuck in her castle, tried to get Fang to safety. She grabbed him and flew towards the window. She almost made it ... until part of the ceiling crushed her, leaving their chance of survival very dim.
Chrysalis didn't know what to do, she was stuck and her son was there. She had one idea, an idea that she didn't want to say, "Fang, you have to go without me, it's too late for me, i'm not gonna make it."
Fang couldn't believe what he was hearing, "Mom, please, we can both make it, just hold on."
Fang got up so he could find a way to move the ceiling, but was quickly stopped by Chrysalis, "Fang ... if you don't leave then both of us won't make it. I love you Fang, I'll always be with you no matter what."
The building was about to collapse and Fang didn't want to leave his mother. Fang didn't want to do it, but he finally left, but not before saying, "I love you too mom."
Fang flew out the window of the castle, looking behind him to see his mother for the last time as the castle collapsed. Fang turned his head back with tears in his eyes, vowing vengeance. He now wants revenge on the devilish beast known as the Graboid. It wasn't long until he found the remaining changeling citizens, now looking sad and afraid. Fang had a different look, a look of anger andhad a hint of flames in his eyes. Fang was a prince of changelings no more, he was now a king and he had citizens to take care of.
Fang headed towards the group of changelings and he had something to say, "My citizens, today we had a great downfall in our empire, but we are strong, we are brave, we are vigilant, we are changelings, and we can survive anything. We never had anything and I mean ANYTHING get in our way and we won't let a huge worm destroy all that we are. Join me and hunt the beast or stay and rebuild the kingdom. It wouldn't matter if you all decide to stay, I wouldn't mind. You, Archey, you are the leader of the construction teams while I and maybe others hunt the deadly God of the underground, the Graboid."
Some of the changelings were moved by this speech and wanted to go with their new king, about 20 of them. The rest stayed and helped rebuild the kingdom. Fang gathered any remaining weapons that were still intact and gave it to his warriors.
As soon as he gathered the materials for the hunt the group of 21 headed out, entering the game of cat and mouse. They entered their side of the Everfree forest and walked towards what the Equestrians knew as Ponyville. Fang watched for the signs of a Graboid or any other predator.
The Graboid was heading towards the sound of hooves on the ground, using it's sneakiness to get the upper hoof. The Graboid was smart enough to think of a plan. Fang saw the dirt rise by a creature, heading away from the group. Fang shouted, "There it is, get it!"
The group charged at the moving beast, moving a little bit apart. The Graboid made three pathways before showing his location, making the changelings stop in their tracks. "We gotta split up, since there are three paths and 21 of us, it's an easy 7 changelings that goes to each pathway, 7 to the left, another to the right, and the last 7 to the center, 7 plus 7 plus 7 does equal 21 and there are three pathways, three 7's used to make 21. Now split." announced Fang. Fang and his group headed for the left while the rest headed the other two ways. The Graboid was at the midpoint of all three pathways and had successfully split his meal into three easy bits and headed for the ones on the left.
Fang and his group galloped to top speed with their weapons drawn. One was falling behind, looking back every few seconds, scared and freightened. He was so timid that the sound of an owl scared him. Fang and the other five didn't notice that one of their own was falling behind. The changeling was now alone and was also being watched. He tripped on a rock and fell flat on his face. He quickly got up, but felt the earth shake as the Graboid ate the changeling whole, muffling the screams so he would not alert the others. The beast went underground again to hunt the other six.
Fang stopped real quick and surveyed the area, quickly signaling the others to stop as well, ten Manticores cornering two dragons with a couple of timber wolves watching were in their way. Fang was about to go back when he noticed that one of their team members were missing.
Fang was annoyed, "Where is Teaser? he was supposed to stay close."
Just then Fang saw the dirt rise signaling the Graboid heading towards not them, but the other beasts with them in its way.
"MOVE!!!" commanded Fang as the Graboid was in a head-on collision course to the beasts. The Graboid heard Fang and headed for him, "Aw man."
Fang ran out there with the Graboid in tow, going past all the other beasts that were looking at him with hungry eyes. They chased the young child changeling until they saw who was also chasing them and so didn't care about food, but survival. They ran past Fang and headed out the forest, one of the dragons knocking Fang up a tree, branches caught in his holey legs and forelegs, Fang was now stuck. "Help, please, I need help. Please? I'm up this tree. Please?" cried Fang, after all he was a child changeling.
A figure showed up, all beaten up and injured, looked like a pegasus with orange skin and purple mane. the figure looked like a boy so Fang called out, "Hey dude, bro, can you help a brother out?"
The figure looked offended, "HEY, i'm a girl idiot,"
