The Purple in a Rainbow
Am I Loyal?
Previous ChapterNext ChapterRainbow bit her lip as she tucked her knees against her stomach. She was in the waiting room of the Ponyville Hospital. The same thought had been running through her head. It was her fault. She sent Twilight to the hosptial.
"Ahem, Rainbow Dash?" A doctor said.
"Hm? Oh, yeah. What?" Rainbow said.
"Come withe to Primcess Twilight's room. We have things to discuss." He said.
"Um, okay."
As Rainbow entered the room, Twilight opened her eyes.
"Hi, Rainbow!" Twilight beamed. Rainbow offered a confused look.
"You're happy to see me?" Rainbow asked.
"Of course! Why not?" She asked.
"N-never mind." She said. "How are you doing?"
"Good! My wings hurt a lot and so does my back."
"Welcome to my world." Rainbow commented. Twilight giggled. Her wings were bandaged up, but her feathers were still every which way.
"So," the doctor started. "Twilight here needs someone to watch over her." He swallowed. "Are you willing to do so?" He asked.
Rainbow glanced at Twilight. She sighed. "Yeah, okay. It's only right for me to." Rainbow said.
The doctor's face brightened. "Brilliant! You will have to live in Twilight's house, because you live on a cloud, and she isn't fit to be flying." Rainbow sighed.
"Okay....." She said, a little disappointed. "Alright, doc! When is she out?"
"Now." Rainbow's eye twitched.
"But, when I broke my wing, I had to stay for like, a week! She's got injuries worse than me, and she's leaving now?" Rainbow yelled.
"Acually, your broken wing was much treatable out of the hospital, you're just so attached to flying that we had to keep you here. But Twilight however, doesn't seem to be that in need to fly." The doctor said. Rainbow swished her tail.
"Whatever, can we go now?" Rainbow said. The uneasy feeling in her stomach stayed put.
"Of corse." Rainbow helped the alicorn out of the hospital bed. She kept her sprained hoof off the floor as she walked. They checked Twilight out of the hospital and head for the library. Twilight noticed Rainbows shoulders slumped and her head was dipped towards the ground.
"Rainbow, are you okay?" She asked. "You seem a little sad."
"I'm fine." Twilight gave a quizzical look.
"No you're not." Rainbow shot Twilight a annoyed look, but soon it softened.
"Aren't you just a little bit mad at me?" Rainbow asked. Twilight gave a surprized look.
"What? Why would I be mad?!" Twilight asked.
"It's all my fault, Twilight." Rainbow said.
"What?" Twilight cried.
"It's my fault you're like this," she said pointing at her injuries. "If I never pushed you so far, this never would have happened!" Dash said.
A small chuckle escaped Twilight's muzzle. "Oh, Rainbow. It wasn't your fault. It was acually sort of my fault!" Twilight said.
"How?" Rainbow asked.
"Well, if I didn't continue flying after I scraped my wing, we could've avoided this whole conflict!" Twilight said.
Rainbow looked down. "I-I just feel I wasn't very loyal." Rainbow said, sounding defeated.
Twilight placed a hoof on her back. "Of course you were loyal! You desperately tried to saved me!" Twilight reassured.
"But I've done this before! I saved Rarity just fine, AND the Wonderbolts!" She said. Her shoulders slumped farther. "But I couldn't save you."
"This time, you didn't preform a Sonic Rainboom, which makes you faster." Twilight said.
Rainbow looked up at Twilight. There was no worries in her deep purple eyes. She felt better, knowing Twilight wasn't mad at her. Her small smile only made it better.
Rainbow cheeks flushed. "I-I guess you're right." Rainbow gave in.
"That's better." Twilight said. "Oh look! We're here!" Twilight said. She opened the door with her magic. Immediately, Spike ran down the stairs.
"Oh, thank Celestia you're back! I was getting worried, and I came home after playing with the Cutie Mark Crusaders, and you weren't home y-" Rainbow stuck a hoof in his mouth.
"Take a chill pill, Spike! Twilight's fine!" Spike looked at Twilight.
"She is?" Rainbow rolled her magenta eyes.
"Yes, she just a little..... bent." Spike raised am eyebrow.
"Yeah, okay. It looks like somepony beat her up." Spike said, putting a poker face on. Twilight shot the baby dragon a glare.
"Alright, Spike, time to go to bed."
"Well, acually, she did get beat up! By a tree." Twilight rolled her eyes.
"Rainbow has to stay with me until in healed, so can you make us some dinner, please?"
"But you just told me to go to bed!" Spike said, with a confused look on his face.
"Oh, right!" She said sheepishly. "Nevermind, I'll make some daisy sandwiches for us."
"Ok, is that your final choice?" Spike said, with an annoyed look on his face.
Twilight glared at him. "Yes."
"Okay..." Spike said as he walked up the stairs.
"Alright! I need to make dinner!"
"Nah, you go sit down, I'll do it!" Rainbow cut in.
"Really, Rainbow. It's not a problem for me to do it." Twilight said.
"No, I insist!" Rainbow countered.
"Okay....." Twilight gave in.
As Rainbow made the sandwiches, Twilight walked up the stairs slowly and slumped onto her bed. She sighed.
Why did this happen to me? She thought. Why not Rainbow Dash? I know how to take care of her, but does she know how to take care of me? She thought. No sooner did she finish her thought, that Rainbow came up the stairs.
"Here ya go!" Rainbow Dash said. She floated into a chair near her bed and slumped into it. "How are you feeling?" Rainbow asked.
"Good." She said. "Do you even know what you're doing?" Rainbow snorted.
"Trust me, you've taken care of me enough to know what to do!" Rainbow said.
"Okay, hopefully that works." Twilight said.
After they finished thier sandwiches, Twilight shimmied under the covers. Rainbow looked around.
"Uh...." She started. "Bed?" Twilight bonked her head with her hoof.
"Shoot! I threw out the other bed when it got crushed by a tree!" Twilight cried.
Rainbow decided not to ask. "So, what's gonna happen?" Rainbow asked.
"I guess we can share my bed..." Twilight suggested. Rainbow blushed uncontrollably.
"O-oh, you d-don't have to do that..." Rainbow stammered.
"No no! It's okay!" Rainbow sighed.
"Ok..." Rainbow said.
Twilight rolled over to make room as Rainbow got under the covers. She layed on Twilight wing and she yelped in pain.
"Sorry." Rainbow said as they shuffled and rolled Until they found a comfortable position... Exept for the fact that thier muzzles were only mere inches apart. Rainbow awkwardly laughed as she shuffled away from Twilight.
Both the ponies fell into a sleep, unaware that Rainbow had rolled back over, and was now closer to Twilight's muzzle than before.
