Chapter 15: Discovery (Raw)

I could only shake my head. "One of these days he's going to get himself killed for shit like that."

We walked through the thick line of trees for some time. After a while we neared an open area and saw what looked like the remains of a campsite. What was unsettling was the stench of the area.

"Aw man, smells like rotting garbage and shit." Justin whined.

"That stuff smells worse than that duffel bag of kush I have in my basement." Jeremy piped in.

I let out a long sigh. "Fuckin' lightweights." I muttered. I walked over to one of the tents and noticed the smell become stronger.

On the other side of the tent was only one of the most disgusting thing I'd ever seen. There, sprawled out on the ground, lied a corpse, twisted and torn open. Flies buzzed about around us and the stench of the rotting flesh made it difficult to hold my stomach.

Justin came around to the side and noticed it as well. "OH FUCK!" He yelled as he jumped back from it and covered his mouth with his arm.

"What? What'd you find?" Jeremy asked as he came around. As he looked down at the remains he quickly lurched forward and slumped down, emptying his stomach onto the ground.

"Don't do that in front of me man." Justin said as he began to gag. He stumbled for a moment and finally let it out too.

After seeing all this I staggered over to a nearby tree and leaned against it. I finally released my stomach into a bush. As I felt my midriff twist in pain from the exertion I clutched my gut. Spitting the last of it onto the ground I walked back over to the body and crouched down by it, holding an arm to my mouth.

"Man that's fucked up! I didn't know a bear could do that shit!" Jeremy said as he wiped his mouth.

I looked it over. "They don't. Ripping and crushing yeah, but this...it's too intact."

"Mountain lion?" Justin asked swatting away flies.

"No. They kill by biting at the neck and tear off chunks."

"Wolves?" Jeremy asked leaning onto his knees.

"Uh-uh, they rip off pieces and drag it away." I said as I looked around to see scattered pieces and blood over the spot. "Too much here."

"Well what else?" Justin asked looking around uneasily. He gripped his rifle tighter and looked around.

"Don't know, looks like something gutted him and bled him out." I said looking at the open cavity of his chest. I noticed the wounds along the top seemed to go inward and ribs broke along grouped lines. "I think someone did him in." I announced.

Both Jeremy and Justin shot me scared looks. "And if that's what happened, then who?" Justin asked.

The sound of a branch snapping startled us and we looked in its direction to see something dark slip behind cover. I raised my rifle and motioned my hand for them to move forward. Justin stepped toward the spot and we heard a rustling from the opposite direction. We all turned to it but stood still. Me and Jeremy crept toward the direction of the sound.

"Who the fu-" was all we heard before a gasping gargle replaced it. We turned back to see Justin gone.

I walked back to where Justin had been. Behind the cover of a tree He laid sprawled out with his throat savagely ripped open, blood beginning to pool. "Aw piss." I said looking down at him.

"AAAaaaaah!"

I turned to see something quickly dragging off Jeremy into the trees. I ran after but lost sight and looked around frantically.

"Shit!Shit!Shit!Shit!Shit!" My mind raced.

I looked around for a moment and lost my footing. I tumbled downhill losing grip on my weapon and fell. I hit down hard into a ditch and looked around groggily. I pushed myself to my feet and stumbled forward into a tree and fell back down.

Everything began to fade into a darkness

As my eyes opened I looked around to see I was in a dark cavern. My hands were bound and I was hanging from my arms from the roof. My eyes shot around the room in a panic.

On the floor on the side of other side of the room lied three bodies. They all looked horribly mangled and ripped open. Blood and rotting pieces were scattered around. Each still retaining a grotesque face ; Justin, Jeremy, and my father.

"Oh god no, no no no!"

The voice was silenced by a loud. "Thwack!"

I slowly turned my head, my heart beating rapidly. I looked to see the man who had been at the cabin lying on the ground, a hatchet to his chest. A large figure with a deer skull over his head and foliage over his shoulders sat, gnawing and ripped off a piece of his arm, eating it. I shut my eyes and my mind ran wild.

"OH GOD, I'M GONNA DIE! I won't be able to say goodbye. Twilight. Oh god!"

I opened my eyes to him looking toward me. He grabbed the axe and slowly walked over to me. He walked past me and to my left I saw someone else hanging from the ceiling. Twilight.

He raised the axe and swung.

"NO!"

I looked around my living room to see Twilight looking at me nervously. She on the ground by the book shelf. I felt my heart steadily calm in pace but felt every beat pound in my chest. I sat up and held my head in my hands.

"What?" Twilight asked closing her book.

"Uh, nothing," I said as I got up from the couch. "Nothing."

I walked into the bathroom and turned the knob on the sink. I let the warm water run on my hands and I rubbed it into my eyes. I let out a long sigh and walked back into the living room. I sat down at the computer desk and patted Leven on the head.

"Something wrong, what?" Twilight asked looking over to me.

"Just don't worry about it alright." I said pinching the bridge of my nose.

"No." She said taking a seat on the couch. "You have a problem and I'm going to help you."

I walked back over to the couch and took a seat next to her.

"Now whats troubling you?" She asked.
