Chapter 30: Back to the grind
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAfter a few minutes of enjoying the moment we walked back in and I cleaned up the plate and cups. I looked to the clock. '9:00'.
"Alright listen Twilight, I got some work to do. You think you can last without me for a few hours?"
"I guess." She said in a disappointed tone.
"It's only 'till four. When I get back we can do whatever." I sad as I walked into the living room.
"Okay." She said rolling her eyes.
I walked over to the computer and closed the YouTube page. "If you get bored of reading. You can try out some of the games. Here, I haven't really tried this one yet."
She stood next to me and read the name aloud. "Minecraft?"
"I don't know, it's a weird kind of building game. Do whatever I guess." I walked down the hallway into my room and changed into the old jumpsuit I used for my 'job'.
"Just what do you do as a job anyway?" Twilight asked as I dug through my living room closet.
"You could say I'm a...plumber." I said as I tied on my pair of work boots. "I do a lot of wet work."
"Oh, that's...interesting. Just remember to wash your hands."
"I always do." I laughed as I grabbed the Cabela softcap I usually wore.
She let out a sigh and turned her attention to the computer.
I walked into the kitchen and down the stairs into my warehouse of a basement and came back up a with a duffel bag and some work gloves. I stuffed the gloves into the bag and walked out the door waving goodbye to Twilight.
Seven hours later, I walked back through the front door with a bleeding nose and a limp left arm. Twilight turned to me with widened eyes and an agape jaw. "What happened to you?!"
"Nothing out of the ordinary." I said as I dropped the duffel bag by the door with loud clanking thump. "Can you help me?" I asked.
"Do what?" She asked uneasily.
"On three push my left arm inward."
"Okay," She agreed with a confused look.
She placed both hands on my left arm.
"Alright, one...two...three!"
I pushed against her push and heard a pop. The jolt of aching pain shot through me as I grit my teeth. I began moving around and flexing my arm.
"Great." I said as I walked into the bathroom and grabbed the towel off the rack.
I wiped my dripping nose as I rummaged through my fridge and grabbed a beer. I placed the edge of the cap on the counter and slammed down on it. The cap popped off and I walked back into the living room and sat down on the couch.
"So how has your day gone?"
