Chapter 41: First date

I sped down the road. Twilight still held onto me with widened eyes. Her hair was blowing through the air almost cartoonically. The load popping spouts of the engine roared and made it hard to really hear anything.

"When- Oh who am I kidding. If, we finish up with the library, is there anything else you might wanna do?" I yelled over the engine.

She perked up a bit. "Not at the moment. I'm sure I'll think of something."

[Montage moment]

I follow Twilight down an isle in the library. She browses around with crossed arms and a hand to her chin. She pulls book after book from the shelves and hands them to me. The books begin to stack and when we get back to the front desk she looks back to see me struggling with an enormous pile. I set the books down on the desk and it gives way. The librarian looks down at the mess with a dropped jaw. I grabbed Twilight and hurry out the door.

We cruise down the road and she points at a store. I park and we walk in. She looks over different clothes and leads me over to the changing rooms. I wait outside and she steps out wearing a skirt and sweater. I nod and she walks back in. She steps back out with tights and a tank top. I move my hand sideways in an iffy movement. She walks back in and steps out wearing only a pair of lacy underwear. I whistle and give thumbs up. She goes back in and comes out with the pile of clothes and we walk to register. $68.79. I reach into my pocket and toss down a roll of hundreds. The cashier looks down at it dumbstruck.

We pass by another store and she points it out. She looks around the classical section of a music shop. I stand in the next isle with headphones on, headbanging to rock music. She comes over and I hand her the headphones. She puts them on and immediately throws them off and covers her ears. I look at the demo station to see the volume at one hundred percent. I turn it down with a sheepish grin.

She spots a store with a few dogs in front and points at it. We look around the pet store and I follow her around as she looks around the fish. She looks at a small red one in a tank. An eel pops out from a hiding spot and she jumps. I look down at it with awe while she hides behind me. We walk out and I see a homeless man sitting near the door with a stray dog. I reach into my pocket and hand him a few hundreds. He looks up to me with bright eyes and a wide smile. He pets his dog affectionately and Twilight holds onto my arm.

We pass by a cafe and I park. We take a table and wait. The waiter comes and takes our orders. A busboy walks by and trips. A small handful of dishes fly through the air and hit me spilling scraps over me. I wipe the pasta off my face and glare at him. Twilight covers her face fearfully. She uncovers them to see me helping him up and gather some of the spilled dishes. Another patron comes over to me with a towel and gives it to me. I clean up and the manager says his sorries. I look back to Twilight and she gives an approving smile.

We pass by a movie theater and I stop in the lot. I look up the front sign and point at a few of the movie titles. She nods and I step up to the ticket booth. I hold up two fingers and slip the money through the slot. He slips back the tickets and change. We sit in the back row of a horror movie and kiss. The killer makes his grand scene and everyone screams while me and Twilight are absorbed in each other. The movie ends and we leave. I take seat on the bike.

"Decent enough day?" I ask looking to her

"Pretty good." She smiles.
