Chapter 42: Explanation
Previous ChapterNext ChapterI parked my bike in the driveway. The day that started out pretty shit, ended up going a lot better for me. I carried the bags in as Twilight took seat on the couch. I set them down and looked at the clock. The day had seemed to blow by, but I wasn't complaining. It was already fairly late, "A little reading and It's a day." I thought sitting down on the couch.
"Wait, you still haven't explained to me what...this is." She said reaching into her pocket.
I felt some bit happy to see how well she was grasping things, but a particularly large knot in my stomach came about as she held up the familiar plastic wrapped rubber discus. My smile shifted to that of awkwardness and tried to look off. "Oh fuck!"
"Well, uh...that's um. It's a..." I sighed and looked back to her. "Do you want me to lay things down thick or lighten it up?"
"I'd prefer you go the most direct way, spare no information, please." She had that same sense of innocents and I could feel my heart sink at just how much I had muddied it already.
"Well dumb-ass, you managed the whole corkscrew into your hand. Might as well give it a twist." I bitterly thought to myself. I let out a deep breath. I slumped forward. "Well Twilight, that...item, is, unique....in it's purpose."
She brightened to hear that and obviously wanted to know more.
I sighed and kept it up. "It's a...sexual type of...item."
Confusion swept her as she looked back down at it.
"You see, if I were to say...hypothetically, have sex with...you, I would unwrap it, then unroll it and slide it onto my...you know...and if we did say, have sex, then neither of us could get a sexual type of disease or, in your case, pregnant."
"Oh." She said slinking back against the couch. A small blush had found it's way across her face. "But, I'm not in heat. Would it really matter?"
"Yes Twilight, it would matter. Your not a pony, your a human. Humans don't have a season for this kind of thing, they can reproduce all year 'round." I explained.
"That's...fascinating." She said looking off. "So, can I ask? Why did you give me it?"
I let out another deep breath. "I don't know, a just in case sort of thing."
"Oh, okay." She moved her hand over to mine.
I felt horrible for doing that, but the truth hurts everyone. "Now could we possibly move on and talk about this later?" I asked.
"Sure."
I noticed just how much time had passed after, that, and decided it would be about time to end the day. I felt a little more comfortable now knowing Twilight was okay with the whole thing to some extent. "I guess it's about time to hit the sack."
She nodded and got up. I comfortably moved into my spot on the couch.
"Here?" Twilight asked looking down at me.
"What d'you mean?" I asked.
"Aren't you uncomfortable with me always lying on you?"
"Not really, Why you asking?" I said moving up into a sitting position.
"No reason. Don't you think a bed would be more comfortable?" She asked.
"Yeah, that's why I'm letting you have it and I'm sleeping out here."
"We've slept together for the past three nights. I don't think you have to do anything else."
The moment felt weird now that I just explained to her what a condom was, and she still wanted me with her.
"Come on." She said taking my by the hand.
She lead me down the hall to my bedroom and let go. I took seat on the bed and she did the same. I flipped off the light and lied down with her next to me.
"So, when do you think it would be okay to use that, thing?"
"Whenever you feel ready Twi."
We shared a quick kiss and she dozed off. I still lied there, staring at the ceiling.
"I feel happy to be with her, but it still all feels a bit wrong." I thought
I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
I eased them back open. I was lying on the ground and my head hurt a bit. Pushed off the ground and looked around myself.
"C'mon Monkey, looks like it'll take a little longer than I thought."
~Honestly, I don't even know where I was going with that but, hey, it's something right?
