Chapter 46: Forging an army
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe crowd of people cheered on.
"I will need word to be spread of our actions, people to be recruited. I must take my leave and liberate other towns. Spread word of freedom and revolution. Strength must be built and action must be taken."
I finished and folded the flag. Placing it under my arm, I walked back into the brothel. Inside I saw Marrow and Margaret conversing. They both looked over to me.
"It seem you were the correct choice." Margaret stated.
"Great job Monkey, you got everyone up and going."
My face became more serious. "If I keep to my word, then we should hurry and move on. Are there any other towns nearby?" I asked looking to Marrow.
"Not for a while."
"If you're ready then I must pack something for you." Margaret said walking off.
I looked back to Marrow and he shrugged.
She came back with a small leather bound container.
"Here." She said handing it to me.
I could hear something slosh around in it.
"It's a long trip, you'll need plenty water. Remember? We can't have our new leader die out in the wastes."
I nodded and fastened it to my belt.
I still had the flag and held it out to her. "Hang this up for everyone to see."
She placed her hand to it and pushed it back to me. "You hold onto it. When you arrive at the towns show the flag and give your speech. People will listen and join us. Don't worry, I'll make another."
"Alright." I said placing the flag inside my largest pack. The black cloth fit snugly inside it. Marrow hopped back onto my back and I made my way out.
I continued on with a new cause. When I had what I needed to, then I'd be ready. Then I could get her back.
I traveled for days worth of time. Town after town, speech after speech. Many more people rallied and cheered when I held the flag atop the corpses. The group strengthened and grew. Soon I had followers. It wasn't long before I had neared my goal. I have finally come close to where I had started from. I was only a few more miles.
I reached another town. It was much better off but still had it's share of his control. I proceeded to follow the same plan. Kill the thugs, make the speech, gather more people. This time it was different.
As I neared where the shouting came from I noticed some very different. Instead of the usual group of men, there was no group, there wasn't even any men. I there place was a single woman. A woman with lengthy blonde hair, a sweater and fatigues.
She spotted me and turned her attention away form the civilians.
The symbols gathered back to my hand and formed the hilt. The guide bar extended outward and the bright green blade flickered to life with its low hum. I gripped onto it tightly and raised it to be pointing at her, my intentions clear. A wicked smile formed on her face as she came closer. I moved my other hand to rest below my right on the hilt.
"It's been a while." S sneered.
*Seriously, don't thumb it down without giving your reason. It's annoying and only makes me more upset that this site has inconsiderate assholes. COMMENT.
