A Fresh Start and a New Love

Off to the diner in Ponyville, together. Thunder could finally smile again and Dash was so happy, to finally have somepony she could be with, somepony to love, her very own, very special somepony. On their way to the diner, slowly flying through the sky as the sun began setting, chatting about flying and the Wonderbolts and their adventures. Thunder learnt a lot about the adventures Dash went on with her friends, listening intently as she recalled the events, he felt almost as if he was there.

“Daaashie! Daaashie! Ohh Rainbow Daash!” came a voice from below them as they entered the main square of Ponyville. The two pegasus landed in unison, and a in a flash of pink, there was a bubbly and pink curly haired earth pony right in front of them. From the stories he had heard, Thunder immediately knew this was, Pinkie Pie, the super hyper active, prankster, and element of laughter. The element of laughter fit her all too well.

“Oh hi Pinkie! What are you up to?” Dash asked.

“Oh nothing, just going for an after work stroll, who’s this?!?! I’ve never seen him before, what’s his name and when did you come here? Why are you with Dashie?” Pinkie said in an explosion of energy and happiness.

“Woah there, settle down, I’m Thunder Flash, I’m knew here from Cloudsdale, I was in charge of thunderstorms there and I’m staying at Dash’s house, because she was so kind enough to take me in, having no place to go in all.” Thunder said, looking at Dash with a smile, which made Dash blush.

“Oh oh really? If you’re new, then I’m going to have to throw you your welcome party, it’s customary that everypony receives a Pinkie style party when they move Ponyville.” Pinkie said hopping up and down with a big grin on her face. I’ll get back to you two with the details when I get everything set up, but, oh, where are you two going anyway, on a date?” Pinkie asked with a giggle, obviously meaning it as a joke, but at hearing this Rainbow stiffened like a board.

“No! We’re not dating! I we’re just going to get some dinner together because he’s new to Ponyville and I didn’t want him to feel lonely.” Rainbow barked at Pinkie.

“I know, I was just kidding Dashie. No need to make a fus over it, unless you aaare dating him, I mean look at your face! You’re all red, ehehe ahaha” Pinkie giggled.

“Pinkiiie, stop it! I don’t want the whole town to know, I have a reputation to uphold, I can’t have everypony in town thinking that I’ve gone soft because of some stallion.” Rainbow said, in a hushed tone, so that no pony could hear her.

After hearing that, Thunder was shocked and a little saddened. “Does she not want anypony to know we’re going out? Am I embarrassing her?” Thunder kept thinking to himself. Trying not to think too hard about it, he didn’t realize the sad look on his face coupled with the tears welling up in his big blue eyes. With that he just let his emotions get the best of him and took off, he didn’t care where, he just didn’t want Dash to see him cry. Dash was startled because of the gust of wind that his large wings made, as she looked over to him, she saw him take off and fly away.

“Oh no! What did I do? Thunder wait! Please, come back!” Rainbow screamed with sadness in her heart that could be heard so well in her voice.

“Where’s he going? What just happened? And I think I felt rain drops, it’s not supposed to rain.” Pinkie said puzzled.

“I gotta go Pinkie, I’ll chat later!” Dash called out as she flew after Thunder with all of her might. He had already gained a large lead on her, just barely out of her range vision in the darkness. It didn’t help that his coat was black, she could see his vibrant mane and tail luckily. Flying as fast as she could, rivaling the speed she reached when Rarity was in trouble at the best young flyer’s competition. With a large boom and a flash of yellow light blinding her, Dash lost sight of Thunder. She couldn’t believe it, she hadn’t even gotten to the diner with her and she said something to make him run off. Dash dropped down to the ground and sat there, starting to cry, hard. “What have I done, my stupid big mouth made him run off…” Dash said sobbing, “I’m sorry Thunder! Come back, please!” Dash cried out, hoping that somehow he would hear her.

Meanwhile Thunder had landed by a cottage near the edge of the Everfree forest, he landed behind it, leaning his back on it and crying silently to himself. “She’s embarrassed to be around me, it’s just the same as Flitter, I don’t want to have my heart broken again.” Thunder said, his heart already obviously in turmoil. Thunder heard rustling coming from nearby, he looked over and through his tear blurred vision he saw a yellow pony with a pink mane duck back out of sight. “Oh, *sniffle* uhmm I’m sorry, is this your house? I’ll leave, I uhm, I just, no I’ll go.” Thunder said, voice wavering.

“No wait! I uhm, what’s the matter?” The very shy sounding voice came, stepping out slowly, Thunder wiped his eyes. He thought about her and what Dash had told him, this must be Fluttershy, he could tell, by her appearance and very shy demeanor.

“Oh, it’s nothing, I just kind of had my heart bucked, hard.” Thunder said, sniffling. Fluttershy approached Thunder and hesitantly sat down next to him. Looking at him through the part in her mane, a little afraid, but she wanted to help.

“Who did this? That is uhm, if you don’t mind me asking.” Fluttershy said softly.

“Funny you should ask, it was your friend, Rainbow Dash, you see, I’m new here in Ponyville, and well do to certain events, well I ended up asking Rainbow Dash on a date, I thought we had something, she sure acted like we did, but when Pinkie came by, Dash tried denying the fact that she was on a date with me, let alone telling Pinkie not to let anypony know about it.” Thunder said, starting to sob again.

“Rainbow Dash did this? Oh no, you poor thing, I’m sure Dash didn’t mean any harm by that, she just isn’t known for saying the right things at the right time.” “Please don’t take it personally uhmm, I’m sorry, but what’s your name?” Fluttershy asked, looking at you with concern in her eyes.

“I’m *sniffle* Thunder Flash, I’m from Cloudsdale.”

“Well, then Thunder, would you like to come inside with me? It’s awfully dark and you can stay here until you feel better.” Fluttershy offered.

“Ok, thanks Fluttershy, that means a lot.” Thunder said, standing up with Fluttershy. She was much smaller than he was, but that didn’t seem to bother her to much as the both trotted inside.

Still back in the streets of Ponyville, Dash lied down on the side of the road, sobbing, hating herself for what she had done. Hearing the sound of the crying, a chatting Applejack and Rarity who were passing by, trotted over to find the emotionally distraught Dash, sobbing on the side of the road.

“My stars! Rainbow Dash, what are you doing here? Why are you crying? Rarity asked, astonished at the sight of the bawling pegasus.

“Yeah? What happened Rainbow? What’s the matter?” Applejack added.

“Oh, R-r-rarity, Applejack! I messed up big time, I was going on a date with the new pegasus in town and I said some things that I really shouldn’t have and he ran off, he looked so hurt. Please help me find him, I need to make it up him, I don’t even care if he forgives me, I just have to tell him I’m so sorry.” Rainbow said, still sobbing deeply.

“You? Were on a date and messed it up? Well I’m not surprised, you aren’t exactly a romantic, are yah Rainbow? I’ll help yah look for him, what’s he look like” Applejack said reassuringly.

“and I shall help to Rainbow, anything for our best friends.” Rarity chimed in.

“Oh thank you so much, guys.” Rainbow said, with little hope in her heart. “He’s a large black coated pegasus with electric blue and yellow mane, deep blue eyes and some blue and yellow lightning bolts for a cutie mark.” Rainbow said, blushing at his description.

“Alright, we’ll find him for you Rainbow” the two ponies said in unison as the dashed off.

“Go ask Fluttershy for help to Rainbow!” Applejack called back to her.

“Ok, thanks again girls.” And with that, Dash shot up into the air and flew directly towards where Thunder and Fluttershy were sitting and chatting, trying to help mend Thunder’s broken heart. When Dash got to Fluttershy’s door, she knocked on the door and yelled into her house. “Fluttershy? You home? I need your help, I screwed up my chances with a guy that I was supposed to be going on a date with by running my big mouth and I need to find him, just to tell him how sorry I am and that there’s no possible way that I would be embarrassed as his girlfriend.” Tears were still pouring from her eyes as the door slowly opened up. There stood Thunder Flash, with a red eyes and a sad look on his face.

“You aren’t embarrassed to be dating me? Really?” Thunder said in disbelief, “Yeah, sure, then why did you try so hard to make sure no pony knew that we were going on a date huh?” Thunder said, with more tears still in his red eyes.
“Thunder! Oh thank Celestia you’re here, please forgive me! I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean what I said, I was only embarrassed because I’ve never had a boyfriend before and I was afraid that my friends would make fun of me. It had nothing to do with you, in fact I wouldn’t want anypony to see me with anypony else except you!” Rainbow said, tears still flowing out of her eyes.

“I’m kinda finding it hard to believe you Dash, you’ve really hurt me.” Thunder said, looking into Dash’s distraught eyes, as they begged him for forgiveness.

“As soon as I realized what I did, I felt terrible Thunder, and when Applejack and Rarity found me crying at the side of the street, I asked them to help me find you, I told them everything, without hesitation, I really am not embarrassed by you, you’re still the coolest stallion I’ve ever met, and my heart still belongs to you.” Rainbow said, now bawling. “ Please Thunder! I never thought that I would feel this way about somepony, I don’t want to lose you, when you flew off and I lost track of you, I gave up all hope and broke down, I never want to lose you, I think I might have fallen for you, so I’m begging you, forgive me for being so stupid.” Rainbow begged. With that, Applejack and Rarity came running into Fluttershy’s house, surprising everypony in the room with their appearance.

“Please Mr. Thunder Flash, Rainbow isn’t exactly the smartest when it comes to romance and relationships, please forgive her.” Rarity said to Thunder.

“Yeah, Rainbow ain’t exactly the best when it comes to this stuff, please just forgive her stupidity, she really cares, she came to us bawlin’, beggin’ for us to help ‘er find you.” Applejack added.

“Don’t worry, I already have forgiven her, after what she just told me, I believe her completely, I was just really hurt, and I didn’t want to have my heart broken a second time, I thought Dash was different, and boy was I right.” Thunder said, walking closer to Dash, who was lying on the ground of Fluttershy’s cabin, her face on the ground in depression. She looked up when she saw Thunders hoofs. Lifting her up with his hoof, Thunder kissed Dash passionately on the lips.

With that, it was almost as if Dash was immediately lifted out of her depression in complete bliss from the kiss. “I think I might get addicted to that.” Dash said looking lovingly into Thunder’s eyes. “I really meant it, I’ve fallen for you, and your handsome face and caring attitude, not to mention your nice body.” Dash said with a blush, into Thunder’s ear.

“I’ve fallen for you to Dash, that’s why I was why I couldn’t stand to hear you say things like that to Pinkie Pie. You are absolutely beautiful and I really want to be with you.” Thunder said as he kissed Dash again on the forehead.

“I’m still so sorry Thunder, I really do want to be with you, more than anything, just please forget what I said?” Rainbow asked with a sad look in her eyes as she nuzzled against Thunders neck.
Thunder couldn’t help but blush at the cute sight of Rainbow Dash nuzzling up against him. He blushed at the feeling of her warmth as it radiated throughout his body. “Y’know, I mean it when I say that I’ve fallen for you, I have never felt this way about anypony before.” Thunder said looking deeply into Rainbows beautiful lavender eyes.

“I do know and I’ve fallen for you as well. It may seem like we’ve only known each other for so little, but it feels like I’ve known you for a life time.” Dash said as she leaned in close towards Thunder’s face, as she felt the warmth of his breath she let her eyes fall closed and as did Thunder. Their lips making contact, the two pegasus melt into each other’s warm embrace. Thunder’s large wings outstretch and wrap around Rainbow is a loving protective embrace.

“Well look’at you two, just happy as can be?” Applejack said with the tip of her hat.

“Aww, I’m glad you worked everything out Rainbow darling.” Rarity added and trotted off with Applejack.

Breaking their kiss, Thunder yelled out to Applejack and Rarity, “Thanks for everything you two, I’m glad I finally got to meet you.”

“Uhmm, I’m glad you two are happy now, and uhm, but it’s Angel’s bed time, so you kind of have to go, but uhmm, oh I-uhh, you can come back any time you want to visit ok?” Fluttershy said.

“Oh, sorry Fluttershy, we’ll get out of your hair.” Rainbow said, blushing and scratching the back of her head in embarrassment. “Alright, well, do you want to go get some late night dinner before the diners close, lover boy?” Dash said with a bright shade of red across her cyan face.

“For sure, I’m starved; now let’s get out of Fluttershy’s hair so she can put her bunny to bed.” Thunder said, taking off and pulling Rainbow Dash with him.

“Bye Fluttershy, see you later!” Dash yelled back.

“Oh! Bye Rainbow Dash! Bye Thunder!” Fluttershy said, waving her hoof.
As Thunder and Rainbow left Fluttershy’s house, they heard her door close behind them and flew off towards Ponyville. “Sure you aren’t going to be embarrassed to be with me or anything?” Thunder said with a worried look on his face as he landed on the edges of Ponyville’s main square.

“I’m sure, why should I be embarrassed to be with the best stallion ever?” Dash said rubbing up against Thunder as they trotted happily towards Sugar Cube corner.

Taken by the compliment he just got from Dash, Thunder stopped in surprise and blushed deeply. Dash looking back towards Thunder, wondering why he stopped, had to stifle a giggle. “Oh come on Thunder, don’t tell me the Thunder Bolt of Cloudsdale never got any compliments from any mares?” Rainbow giggled.

“Actually no, I never really got any compliments from anypony, let alone a beautiful mare…” Thunder said, looking down and pawing at the ground with his hoof. His face was beet red and he didn’t want Rainbow Dash to see it. He was acting particularly shy around Rainbow, even though before he hadn’t.

“Well now you have me to make sure you always get compliments, alright there lover-colt? That and no need to be so shy alright? Dash said, elbowing Thunder in the side then giving him a kiss on the head.

Blushing an even deeper shade of red, “thanks Dash, I’m glad I met you. Somepony who truly cares about me.” Thunder said, thoughts drifting back to Flitter, no longer feelings of despair, but he felt free from her, like he really could begin to be happy with somepony special.

Before they realized it, they were at Sugar Cube Corner. Entering together, both smiling, at Mrs. Cake, who was at the counter. “What’ll it be you two? We’re closing soon, but since I know Dash is one of Pinkie’s best friends, I’ll keep the shop open for you two, so you can have your, little dinner together.” Mrs. Cake winked. “Don’t worry, Pinkie told me everything that happened and I think you to make a wonderful couple, though Rainbow Dash, I never took you for the romantic type.”

“I’m not really a romantic, but I want to be with him none the less. I hope he feels the same way.” Dash said while blushing and looking up at Thunder, who was slightly taller than her.

“I do Dash, no need to worry.” Thunder said, kissing Dash on the cheek. “So, Mrs. Cake, how about some dinner? What do you want Dash?”

“I’ll have a salad, I need to keep healthy so I can keep training for the Wonderbolts!” Dash yelled with her hoof in the air and determination in her eyes.

“Really? I’ve met the Wonderbolts a couple times, I went to flight school with Spitfire when I was a little colt and I occasionally fly around with her, of course not anymore that I’m here with in Ponyville, she’ll wonder why I left.” Thunder said, reminiscing.

“You, Spitfire? Friends? How could you leave her behind like that?” Rainbow said, shocked.

“I don’t know, I haven’t seen her in months, so it doesn’t matter, but I really don’t care, now that I’m here with you.” Thunder said, looking at Dash lovingly.

“You would rather spend time with me then with the Wonderbolts? Dash said mouth agape.

“Yeah, why wouldn’t I?” Thunder said with a smile. “You’re way cooler and a much better flying partner than them anyway.”

“Really? B-b-but, me? Better? Than the Wonderbolts? You really think so??!?” Dash said, she looked ecstatic.
“Yeah, I’d fly with you over them any day Dash, plus none of them are cute, like you are.” Thunder said snuggling against Dash. “Anyway, I’ll have some hay fries and a salad as well and I’ll cover the bill.”

“Will do, Mr. Uhmm, I’m so sorry, what’s your name again?” Mrs. Cake said with an embarrassed smile.

“My names Thunder Flash, but just call me Thunder.” He said with a grin, Dash still leaning against him, smiling widely.

“Oh, alright then, I’ll be out with your food in just a moment.” Mrs. Cake said with a big smile as she trotted into the kitchen.

After their meal, the two pegasus thanks Mr. and Mrs. Cake and started home. “You go on ahead of me, okay Dash? I just want to tell Twilight something. Meet’cha at home in a bit ok?” Thunder said kissing Dash on the forehead.

“Oh, ok, I’ll wait up for you.” Rainbow said with a smile.

Thunder trotted off to Twilights house to have a chat with her. Knocking on her door with his hoof, the door swung open, looking down, Thunder saw a little purple and green dragon standing there, looking up at him.

“Can I help you?” the dragon said.

“Yeah, I’m looking for Twilight, can I speak with her?” Thunder said, looking quizzically at the dragon.

“Twilight! Somepony is here to see you!” The Dragon shouted

“Coming Spike! Thanks!” Thunder heard Twilight shout back.

Soon after, Twilight trotted up to the door and looking at Thunder with surprise. “What brings you back here Thunder? Something happen with you and Rainbow?” Twilight said with worry in her voice.

“Yeah, actually something did happen, I just had something to ask about her.”

“No problem, come inside.” Twilight motioned for Thunder to come in.

After around 10 minutes of explaining the day’s events, Thunder finally came out and asked Twilight. “So, well, what I wanted to ask was, I think I may have fallen for Rainbow Dash, but I don’t know what to do, I’ve fallen for somepony before, and that ended terribly for me” Thunder said looking down. “I really hope that she won’t leave me, I really feel something between us, but I’m also known for being a stupid pony when it comes to love.”

“I see your problem Thunder, but you really don’t need to worry, especially if Dash is reacting the way you say she is, I’ve never seen her act like that around anypony before, so she must really like you, plus she is the element of loyalty after all, I doubt she’d leave you.” Twilight said with a chuckle. “Now head home and see her, I’ve got some last minute organizing to do.”

“Thanks Twilight, you’re a great friend.” Thunder said with a smirk, he gave Twilight a smile and flew out her open window as quickly as possible, sending papers everywhere.

“Uugghh! Spiiike!” Twilight yelled, with an annoyed look on her face. “Come clean this up, I’ve more important things to deal with.”

Thunder got home, to his new home, with Rainbow Dash. He walked in the front door and looked around, Dash was nowhere to be seen. “Thunder? Is that you?” Dash called from what seemed her room.

“Yeah, it is, where are you?” He asked to be sure.

“My room, come in here for a second.” Rainbow shouted back.

“Alright then.” Thunder thought to himself as he trotted over to Dash’s room. When he entered, he saw Dash lying there, on her bed, with a very sexy look on her face, grinning at him. When Thunder looked at her, he couldn’t help but blush, she was a very, very attractive mare, her body was toned from all her flying and her mane was beautiful, all complimented by her breath taking lavender eyes. She was indeed a very sexy pony, the only reason no pony had come on to her before is because they all knew she would have flat out rejected them immediately. For some reason he was an exception and he had no idea why.

Though to Dash, she had the same thoughts about Thunder, wondering why he wanted to be with her, thinking he could have any mare he wanted, but she was more than happy that it was her. “I was thinking about what to do about your sleeping arrangements. Well, I think you should sleep in my bed with me” Dash said, eyeing Thunders body, and then giving a wink.

“Uhmm, Dash do you really want me to sleep with you? I mean is that ok?” Thunder said, very embarrassed, blushing a deep shade of red.

“Does it really look like I care if it’s ok? I want you to sleep with me… Or do you swing the other way?” Dash said, with a giggle.

“You know I don’t.” Thunder said, rolling his eyes. “I just don’t want to screw anything up between us Dash; I really like you a lot.”

“You don’t need to worry about losing me, lover-colt” Dash said with a seductive smile. She clearly only had one thing on her mind.

“Alright, seeing as I have no other option, I’ll sleep here with you, and emphasis on the sleep part.” Thunder was trying hard not to pounce on Dash, she was so beautiful and she was practically begging him to, but he was tired.

“Aww, ok, good night Thunder, I-I-I-I L-lo-v, uhmm, good night Thunder.” Rainbow said, hiding her face.

“Good night Dash, I’m glad I get a bed finally.” Thunder said jokingly as he snuggled in next to Dash for another good night sleep, next to the mare he had fallen for.
