Chapters Chapter 1 Part 1: Awkward Entrance Part 1
'We're just getting started...' He wanted to question whatever godly voice was talking to him, but to no prevail.
"I see that you want to speak. I'm curious on to what you want to say," said the godly being.
Wait, he can read my thou-?
"Yes, I can see your thoughts. Try to speak."
All of a sudden, Jun felt his mouth begin to move, and the first question he wanted to ask slipped out. "What's going to happen now?"
The godly being chuckled. "You will find out soon," he said,"all in good time. Be patient, and the answers will come soon."
Jun felt a little unnerved at that sentence. He waited. What would he find out soon? He felt the feeling come back to his body. Phew, he thought, I was afraid is was gone indefinitely. Along with these feeling came a quick dizziness. He put a hand on his head, hoping it was temporary. And, for the second time in what seemed like 10 minutes, he blacked out.
Location: Ponyville, Equestria. Time: Evening
A group of ponies sat out on a field, waiting for the sun to go down so that they could see the stars. One of these ponies, a purple unicorn, by the name of Twilight Sparkle, was hoping that it would be the right evening to stargaze. Who knows, she thought, maybe we'll even see some shooting stars. As she sat down and adjusted her telescope, she didn't know how close she would be to the correct assumption.
Time: Nightfall
Jun finally woke to a painful feeling throughout his body. His hud booted up and started a health diagnostic check. Good, he thought, I can't feel my fingers. When he tried to stand up, he immediately fell onto his back. He looked down at his legs to find that he didn't have hands, or arms. In fact, he didn't really have anything familiar to his old body except for his armor. "Hey," he yelled looking up at the starlit sky,"is this some kind of fucking joke? What did you turn me into?"
Jun heard a whisper in his head. "I turned you into a pegasus. One of the three pony races of Equestria."
Jun's eye twitched slightly when he heard the word pegasus. Immediately after hearing that, he checked his back to find the very expected presence of wings. Seriously? He stood up, albeit on all fours, like a horse would. Just then, the spartan checked his surroundings, finding that he was in a crater in the middle of a jungle. Wait, crater? He didn't want to give it anymore thought. He already felt as if his head was about to explode. Then, tiredness seeped into his body. He crawled out of the crater, and sat against a tree. Well, he had his armor, combat knife, magnum, and much-loved sniper rifle. He was armed, to say the least. He let his head rest against the tree, and did something he had done quite a lot in the past. He slept.
Twilight was surprised when the meteor struck down in the Everfree forest. Excitement jolted through her body, instinctively sending her running towards the site.
"Come on girls," she yelled back to her friends. After what seemed like a 10 minute run from the field, she could see the area where the meteor should be.
Rainbow Dash looked over at her. "I'm going to check it out," she said, flying towards the crater. Twilight couldn't help but envy her wings at that moment. By the time she and the rest of the group made it there, Rainbow had halted at the edge of the crater waiting for her. Twilight stopped too, but something caught her eye. A specific something that she had never seen before. She took a moment to evaluate what was going on. It was leaning against the tree, but in the dark it was hard to see anything else. Unfortunately, before she could get any closer, Rainbow Dash flew towards it, before stopping right in front of it. She peered at what the reddish-orange slit before tapping it on the helmet. She flew back a few yards after it grunted.
Jun started to come awake from his slumber. He didn't want to admit it, but he was having a nightmare. Yeah, he thought, very spartan-like of you. He grunted after something tapped his helmet. He swore that he would explode if it was another nut from the tree above him. He opened his eyes, trying to blink the sleep out of them. Then he heard a gasp, followed by five others. He heard a voice, one that sounded as if it wasn't scared of him but was playing along anyways...
"Is it a robot?" ,said one bubbly voice. Another voice, more also belonging to what he assumed was a woman, said,"Maybe"
A third joined them. "Well I'm not scared of some stupid robot. I'll give it beating if it wakes up."
A fourth agreed. "I'll give it ah serious buck to the face. All y'all need to do is ask."
The tapping started on his visor this time. He was seriously losing his patience with these people. Right then, he decided to look up, and his mouth gaped open. What was in front of him was six multi-colored horses. Or ponies, whatever. He regained his composure in time to get whacked on the face. Luckily, thanks to his armor, he didn't even feel it. Then again, he started to feel sorry for whoever just did that, as it seriously pissed him off. He leapt to his hooves in a combat stance. Wait, hooves? Really Jun... He looked at the blue one, who he assumed was the one that hit him, and grabbed her neck. He then realized that he was about one and a half heads taller than any of the ponies here. He looked down at the blue one he had just put into a headlock, and then at the other ponies. They all stared at him, shocked. He looked down at the blue pegasus again and started to feel a little uncomfortable with what he had done. He set the pegasus down and looked her in the eyes and said the first thing that came to mind. To him, it was actually the most important thing.
"Don't ever wake me up like that again."
Chapter 1 Part 2: Awkward Entrance Part 2
Rainbow Dash looked into the robot's eye slit, more terrified than she ever had been before. She heard a voice behind her, and recognized it as Twilight's.
"DUCK!" yelled Twilight and then sent a beam of lightning towards the green robot. It struck it right in the chest, while in the process throwing dust everywhere. She strained to see if it was gone. Rainbow darted back over the group, who were equally as terrified. The dust finally cleared, and what she saw left her unconfident that she could stop it. Bolts of electricity sizzled around it's body, with a slight 'zmmmmm' sound. She sent another spell, which didn't affect it at all. She could feel herself weakening, and knew there was only one last thing left to do. She constructed a shield of magic, and sent the girls running back home. When they were safe, she used the last ounce of energy left in her body to create one last spell. She hoped it worked this time...
Jun, was now having possibly the worst night/morning of his life. He wouldn't admit it, but those bolts of energy surprised him. Why were they so aggressive? He was only using self-defense. He watched his shield bar fill up, and then walked towards the purple unicorn, trying to reassure it that he was no harm, only to find it absorbed by magic and disappear.
"Great! This is just great! First I wake up and I'm attacked by a group of these 'ponies', and now their going off to get the whole calvary. Fucking great." He ranted, "Well, now that I've gotten that off my chest, I guess all I can do is follow them and try to negotiate again." While the kind part of himself urged him on, the spartan side was trying to put a gun to his head as if to say 'screw that, I'm not going to get fucked up again.' His kind, considerate side won over. He knew he was stronger. He decided to try and learn to use his wings. He looked back at them this time to find that they were a dark gray color. He focused on them in his mind. Just then, he managed to make them flap. Wonderful, he thought. In a matter of minutes, he could already hover and fly around. He started flying in the direction the ponies went, surprised that with the armor on he was flying anyways. He flew into the clouds to find that they were actually quite solid. He tilted his head at it. Weird. He could see the ponies running towards a distant town. He waited for them to get there, and then flew in to investigate the place.
Twilight landed in the center of the library, to find that all the books were scattered on the floor. That was the least of her worries, though. Spike came running down the stairs towards her.
"Twilight," he said, "you're ba-"
Twilight shook him. "We have no time for that Spike! Send a message to the Princess saying that there's a monster robot heading here! Quickly!"
"I might be able to do it if you stopped shaking me!"
"Oh, sorry."
Spike grabbed a quill and paper. After sending the note, he and Twilight walked outside to find that the Sun had come up. She saw the rest of the ponies coming into town a sighed in relief. Thank Celestia they were ok. They hid in Twilight's house and waited for the Princess. I know, I know. That's sounds boring. But what would you do differently? Alright, lets get back on track.
Jun noticed that Ponyville wasn't much different from what he expected. It looked like any medieval fantasy town. He trotted towards the center of town, noting that at the moment, the whole town looked deserted. Yet he wouldn't say barren. Stalls were lined around what he would consider the middle of town. He heard a door slam in the distance. He also noticed that he felt as if he could feel eyes trained on him. From a lot of different places. He pressed against the wall of a house quietly, and tried to decide between a military approach, or a relaxed approach. He didn't get to choose as what looked like a chariot landed in the center of town along with two armored ponies from whom he guessed propelled it. Just then a white pony stepped out and looked around. He assumed that she was probably a royal figure, and that she had both wings and a horn. He didn't want to confuse himself on what that made her. He stepped out of the shadows of the wall and walked casually towards her. It didn't make him any less prepared for what was to follow.
She turned around to glare at him angrily. Jun wasn't happy about that. Trying to negotiate with an individual who was angry made them unreasonable. He was about to introduce himself when he was struck by a spell, and was sent flying backwards towards a stall, smashing through it and rolling onto his hooves. "Holy shit," he muttered to himself. He ran towards her but was stopped by a force pressing against him. Some sort of magic she had was restraining him. He was pulled closer to her against his will.
"HOW DARE YOU! YOU SHALL NEVER HARM MY SUBJECTS! ANY WHO DO WILL BE PUNISHED SEVERELY!"
"Hold up a second! I never did attempt to harm your su-!"
"SILENCE!"
And with that she smashed Jun against the ground. Once, twice, and a third time before throwing him against the huge tree. He smashed through one of the windows and landed on the wooden floor with a groan. Damn, that one hurt. He groaned in pain again, and spit a little bit of blood onto his visor. He looked up to see the group of ponies who had caused this. "It was just self defense." He said before getting dragged out of the door by the Princess. He wasn't down yet though. He was levitated towards the Princess until he was right in front of her. And that's when he made his move. He darted his hooves around her neck and put her into a headlock. Before he knew it, he started to choke her. His anger was pouring gas on the floor, and his training had lit the match. Before long she started panicking, and her eyelids started to fall. In the midst of all this, something shook him. He looked down, surprised to see the ponies crying for him to stop. Why hadn't he heard that?
"You're going to kill her!" the purple one cried. The rest begged for him to stop. He saw the two 'guards' from before rushing towards him. Finally, he let go. The Princess fell on the ground, wheezing. Jun felt the need to explain himself.
"I didn't want to do any of this," Jun said, "But it was in an act of self-defense. I'm not just going to let somepony slaughter me pointlessly." He noted his use of 'somepony'.
After a while, a lot of wheezing, and a rise back to consciousness, Celestia turned to speak to the robot. Maybe she had over-reacted. A crowd had gathered around to see the fight. Ponies were yelling out insults at the robot.
"Heartless being!"
"Robot!"
Jun didn't pay attention to any of the insults directed towards him. He planned to leave for a while and let the purple pony explain his innocence. He turned and faced 'Princess Celestia'. Jun was about to leave when he heard and insult that actually struck his heart.
"Monster!"
He stood up to his full height, and peered for the pony who said it. This action caused all of them to freeze and stare at him. "Who called me a monster?" he whispered, his voice ice cold. "Who?" The ponies shuffled aside to reveal a stallion who tried to look at him without shaking. He leaned down and put his face an inch away from his. "Don't ever, ever call me that again." And with that he left.
Chapter ?
Jun awoke to a completely white room without a door.
"Hey Jun!"
"What?"
"I got a comment yesterday on your chatty attitude. Its like getting a call from the principal of your son's school and telling me that he got in a fight."
"I... don't see the relevance in those two feelings..."
Jun gets smacked across the helmet.
"That's not the point! You need to quiet yourself down a little bit. Seriously. Oh, and go to the gym while you're at it. We don't need you to die in the first chapter."
"Touching."
"That's better. More spartan-like. Otherwise I'm going to have to smack you more."
"How many views have we got?"
"A pretty great amount! Anyways, I'm starting to get a little creeped out from these (name) is watching you notifications."
"Meaning?"
"I feel as if someone's watching me through my window." I cough.
"You sick?"
"Yep. I feel like shit today. Oh well, I'll write a chapter soon."
Chapter 2: Remember
Rain pattered off Jun's helmet as he prowled through the forest. He halted for a moment, taking a quick look around. Unlike the Jungle-like area he had first arrived in, this forest was calm and clean. He began moving again, keeping an eye out for anything suspicious. He was going to let the situation earlier blow over so that he could negotiate when he returned. Unless they found him first. Unlikely. Compared to the rest of Noble Team, Jun was literally one with nature. It was quite obvious. His armor sported a forest green color, along with the green cloth wrapped around his upper torso and neck. It didn't make him any less wary though. He scanned the forest and looked for the nearest high ground. Sniper instinct. He approached a ledge and climbed it. From here, he could see most of the nearby forest, along with the town. After a while, he decided that he had seen enough, and leaned against a tree. He rummaged through his pouches to see what he had brought down from 'heaven?' with him. Luckily, he still had his canteen, surprised when it actually had water in it. Jun sighed in relief. The thing he did next was a first for him. He removed his helmet with a click, and poured some water on his hand. He wiped his visor, cleaning the blood off of it. He sipped some water, and donned his helmet. He would have eaten some of a ration bar, only to realize that they taste like shit. He shivered at the thought of somepony liking something as revolting as it. Even Emile had trouble stomaching them.
At the thought of Emile, he wondered what happened to him, Carter, and Six. Were they still fighting the Covenant on Reach? Were they even still alive? The thought saddened him. He was living on while they were suffering. He remembered how Kat died. Shot in the back of the head by that damn Elite sniper. He should have killed it. And Six had to take the pain of watching Jorge sacrifice himself. He missed the big guy deeply. He had many wise words to say, and he could reassure when others couldn't. He wished they could be here with him. In the midst of his thoughts, he realized that he had unsheathed his knife and was sharpening it. Emile was a great comrade too. He had known him since he was inducted into the Spartan-lll program. He was one of the first brothers he made in Alpha company. Six, he never really spoke unless spoken to. A mysterious one, he was. A good soldier, a loyal friend. He had always respected Carter and Kat, even though he knew that they sometimes doubted him. Jun got up and decided to position on another hill, just so he could get a different view angle.
From that hill, he went prone and hefted his SRS99, wondering how in the hell he could hold it. I mean, what the hell? He assumed that if he could hold it, he could fire it. He zoomed in on Ponyville, towards the huge tree he got smashed into. Lucky he decided to do it at this time. The Princess was walking towards the front door. He could have killed her just then. He knew it. As if she was aware, she scanned both directions before knocking on the door. "You were spared this time." He whispered to himself. She was ushered in by that purple unicorn who had actually caused a huge part of this whole ordeal. Good, I guess they're going to find a way to apologize. He clipped his SRS on his back and went over to one of the bushes. Jun unsheathed his knife and cut off some branches and leaves. He decided to make a little headdress for his helmet before he slept. After accomplishing that, he climbed underneath the bush and waited. He checked his motion tracker once more, and then shut his eyes. Soon after, all consciousness left him.
Hey guys, this is a page that I will ask for your suggestions for how a part of the story should go! This will not only make my job much easier, resulting in me making more chapters, but it will weld the community and this story closer together! I will update this page when I need help! If I can't decide between the ideas y'all come up with, I'll raise a poll where we can vote!
1- How should Jun make peace with the other ponies? Should it take longer? Should it be really dramatic? Idk... (Unanswered)
I feel awkward saying it, but it will include the 'raping of the mind'. Unfortunately, the mind rape victim happens to be the main character Jun. Oh, great, now he's giving me the death glare.
Chapter 3: Intrusion
Jun awoke to light dappling through the leaves of the bush he slept under. He quickly yawned and checked his motion tracker. Nothing. He scooted out from under the bush and stretched. He brushed his leaf headdress off his helmet and climbed onto the hill he sat on yesterday. His stomach was growling by the time he made it to the top. He checked his motion tracker again before sitting down against the tree. With a quiet click, his helmet was removed. Jun took a few sips of his canteen and sighed. For once in the last few days, he felt relaxed. It was peaceful, without a cloud in the brilliant blue sky and the sound of bird song in the background. He reached into his pouch and pulled out his ration bars. Just seeing that wrapper, just the slightest glimpse of it, made him disgusted. He opened the wrapper revealing one of any Spartans' worse nightmares. All the peace he had been feeling before just disappeared. He closed his eyes and shuddered. "I don't want to do this," he said, stating the obvious. He opened his eyes and took a bite. Then the choking and gagging began. After what felt like the devil shoving hell down his throat, Jun swallowed. He wrapped it up again and placed it in his pouch. He heard the sound of something moving above him. He slowly put his helmet on, then jumped up and around in a combat stance. Turned out it was a just a bird. Just a bird... His attitude started to degrade after that. He looked into the birds eyes and realized that it was... laughing at him? "It's just hilarious isn't it." He took another ration bar out of his pouch and pointed it at the damn thing. "You see this? Of course you do, who wouldn't notice it?" he ranted, before sighing in annoyance. "Just don't make me shove it down your throat, alright?" He lost his patience and walked off into the forest.
Princess Celestia, after hearing the story from Twilight, realized just how wrong she was. She felt the need to apologize to what ever that thing was, but had a feeling that it would react harshly if she attempted to speak to it. It was her fault that it would react in such a way. She could either never live up to her mistake, or try to negotiate with it. She chose to negotiate. Looking back at Twilight, she ordered her to stay put, and gathered her two royal guards. "We need to attempt to find a solution to this problem. I need you two to search the forests for it, then report back to me," Celestia ordered. The two guards saluted and began their task. After an hour, the two returned.
"Princess," said one saluting,"we sighted the beast, and tracked it. Unfortunately, it noticed us and hid away."
The Princess needed to know more about this monster. She gathered Twilight and the rest of the Mane Six. "Come here, my little ponies. Before we confront this monster, we need to know more about it. I know a spell, one that hasn't been used in the last 1000 years. It will bring before us the memories this creature has," she explained. After everypony was settled, she began casting the spell. "Please let me intrude on the memories of this monster," she asked. An orb appeared in the middle of the room, before turning into what resembled a screen. Pieces of information about this 'monster' started appearing on the screen. "His name is Jun." said the Princess, reading what had appeared.
"'His name?'" queried Twilight.
"That is correct. It confirms that he is a pegasus. Full name: Jun A-266. What an odd name... A-266? 'A' stands for Alpha, and it says that 266 was his... designation number. This Jun, is a soldier by the looks of it." She stopped for a moment, shocked. "His original race was human. So the myths are true. Humans do truly exist! That is enough about his personal information for now. We will move on to his memories."
'This is Sgt. Hyland! We're being overrun! We have sustained casualties! I repeat, we need reinforcements!' Hyland looked out onto the battlefield as the Covenant swarmed towards him and the remaining members of his ODST squad. The situation was getting even worse. Plasma flashed everywhere. He looked over at the private next to him and heard a 'pfft' sound. The private went down with a pink needle in his neck. "Fuck," cursed Hyland. One by one the ODSTs next to him were killed, until only him and two others remained. He heard a distant sniper fire in the distance. He turned around in time to see an elite special operative fall with a hole in his neck. He realized just how close he was to dying. More pops came from behind him, and more covenant soldiers fell. Eventually, every covenant soldier was dead. He couldn't believe it. He turned around and saw a figure hefting a SRS onto their back. He zoomed in on the figure in time to see a Spartan nod his head to him and walk off into the forest. He had to give to the Spartan. He wouldn't be living right now if it wasn't for him. VIDEO FEED ENDED
All of the ponies were either in shock at the battle or surprised that they had assumed that Jun was evil. Meanwhile, Jun was lying in the grass thrashing while holding his head. The pain was unbearable! It was the last thing he felt before falling unconscious.
Chapter 4: What We Lost
Noble Six ran through the tunnel as Covenant swarmed the city. Sliding over the hood of a deserted car, he proceeded towards the end of the tunnel. The battle was going to hell quick. He looked back to see Jun do the same. He put a fist up and pumped it once, stopping Jun in his tracks. Out of one intersecting tunnel, a group of grunts waddled out. Positioning himself behind a car, he took aim at one of the grunts heads, nodding at Jun to fire first. A three seconds later, two grunts were already down, the others not lasting much longer. Six took this moment to check the civilian Com-Network. Screams for support and reports on the evacuations swarmed like bees in his helmet's speakers. He shut them off. He put two fingers forward, giving the signal to move. The duo continued to move down the tunnel at a quicker pace than before. When they finally appeared at the end of the tunnel, Six and Jun crouched along the wall and came out of the tunnel. Six would never be the same again.
Jun followed Six up the tunnel, covering his six. Wow, he thought, covering Six's six. The joke's amusement left immediately when he bumped into Six. Turning around to see why he stopped, he froze. Blinking a few times, he cursed under his breath. Thousands of bodies littered the streets, both civilian and covenant. It was unbelievably traumatizing, even for a spartan. In all of his years serving, he had never seen such an event. He knew Humanity was losing, but this brought it to a whole new level. He stood next to Six, and just stared. Is this what's just going to keep happening? Billions of deaths, over and over again... He just couldn't shake it off. Luckily, the Covenant had left considering they were done with the place. It didn't make him feel any better. He'd rather had fought the amount of deaths in Covenant soldiers. He heard Six take a large breath next to him.
"Those bastards...," he whispered.
Jun nudged his shoulder, finally snapping out of it.
"Come on," he replied hoarsely,"we have to look for survivors."
Six looked at him as if he'd gone mad. "Survivors?" he finally managed. Jun started to walk down towards the carnage slowly, motioning for Six to follow. He picked his way through the bodies, looking for signs of life. The outcome was really unlikely. He stopped and looked down at the blackened road. The blood pooled around his boots. He wondered if it would ever truly come off. He tried to not think about the stench, afraid that if he did it would stick in his mind forever. He kept walking only to hear a raspy breath from his right. Running over, he found a bloody ODST lying against a smoldering warthog. Jun recognized the face immediately, to his horror. It was Sergeant Hyland... the poor bastard. He knelt next to him, pulling out a can of biofoam. Hyland looked up at him and pushed the can away slowly.
"Don't waste it on me," he rasped. "I remember you. Never did get to thank you. You're a good soldier..., better than me," he paused, coughing. "Just never forget... what your fighting for..." He gestured to the bodies around him. Hyland removed his dog-tags and grabbed Jun's hand. "Don't ever... stop fighting till every last alien bastard felt the same pain we did today." He took one last breath before dying. Jun slipped the dog-tags out of Hyland's hand and gripped them in both hands. Closing the ODST's eyes, he felt Six's hand on his shoulder.
"I'm sorry..." he muttered mournfully. Jun stood up and looked at Hyland's dog-tags one last time before placing them in his pouch.
"I am too," he replied, before throwing a flare and calling for burial detail. He'd complete his mission.
Six felt as if he'd shatter like glass if he saw this again. He knew he couldn't allow himself to. Humanity needed him to fight. So fighting was what he'd do. Letting Jun continue on his objective, Six jumped in the warthog left for him. He drove down the highway, swerving around debris and missing chunks in the road. Before long, he heard the all too familiar whine of a banshee. It took pursuit after him, spewing plasma everywhere. He continued trying to dodge it, before he came up on a surviving marine checkpoint. The marines took fire at his pursuer, before a missile flew out. He looked behind in time to see it explode, showering chunks of debris. He stopped momentarily, giving his thanks to the marines. Deciding that preceding on foot was safer, he eventually made his way to an on-going firefight. Accessing the situation, in which the two sides were both dug in pretty well, he decided to flank the covies. Activating his active-camo, he creeped around pieces of cover until he was in a good position. Aiming his MA5 at the highest ranking elite, he held his fire, instead pulling out a plasma grenade. He threw it at the Ultra, watching as it stuck to his helmet, causing him to freeze in surprise. Knowing the inevitable, Six fired on the others, eliminating two of the three minors. Swapping mags, he continued to fire, relishing the kick of the MA5 against his shoulder. He activated his active-camo again, sneaking behind the elites and switching to his shotgun. He ran in, blowing the remaining minor to shreds, and swiping the last elite off his feet before plunging his knife into his skull. He switched back to his MA5 and glared at the grunts. They trembled in fear before scrambling away from him, making it easy to put them down. He looked around, satisfied with himself. It would have been an enjoyment had the events earlier not occurred. He sighed and joined the marines.
Jun sat in the rear of the pelican, the only spartan in the pelican. The marines looked at him curiously, relishing the chance to inspect one. He didn't mind it, for once. He put his arms in his lap and leaned downwards, looking at the dog-tags again. The marines, chatting before, quieted when they saw this, before paying their respects. As the pelican descended towards his stop, he stood up and looked out at the ravaged city. He remembered what it had looked like before, beautiful and inspiring. Now look at it. A total mess, a grave for millions. For one rare moment, he expressed his grief. He looked out at the horizon behind the city, and saluted to all those who had perished in the attack. He jumped off the ramp and grouped up with Noble Team, excluding Six. He gave his report, getting a mixed kind of reactions. Carter and Kat, as usual, held their emotions in. Jorge looked up at the darkening sky and gave a few words of regret. Emile, sitting against a rock sharpening his knife, dug it into the dirt before continuing with his activity. Jun remembered the dog-tags in his pouch. If he made through this, he'd make sure Hyland was remembered. He'd remember what was lost today.
Chapter 6: Amnesia
Spartan A-266's eyes shot open as he fell onto a spotless, white floor. He lay there, gasping and coughing, before forcing himself to stand. Jun finally came to his senses, and took a look around. He found that he was in a rectangular room, with a cot stuck to the back wall. The room lacked a door, much to Jun's dismay. He stumbled over to the cot, making himself comfortable. He noted the metal frame, assuming that whoever or whatever stuck him in here, knows how much he weighs. Where the hell was he? What the hell happened yesterday? He strained to remember, shocked when he failed to. He sighed softly, before unsheathing his knife, only to find it gone. This caused him to take a sit-rep on his arsenal, finding that he had nothing, not even the items in his pouch. Only his armor. At least they left him with the most dangerous asset he could have possession of. He chuckled a little at this. He checked his UGPS, tapping through to see his location. The device's screen went static. He shut it off. Only one last thing to do. He knocked a hoof on the wall lightly.
"I see that you have awaken," said a familiar voice.
Jun, at hearing this, jumped off the cot, ready to defend himself.
"Stay calm, we do not wish to harm you," reassured the Princess.
Jun decided to play along by sitting back on the cot. He sat in a tense pose, finding her reassurances hard to believe. He heard her sigh.
"I guess we'll have to start off at the basics of introducing ourselves. I am the Princess of the Sun, or Princess Celestia," she stated, waiting for his answer. Unfortunately for her, he wasn't ready to give it. "I see that you still feel hostility towards us. I have to apologize, Jun, for my attack on you. It was a huge misunderstanding." He froze at this. How did she know his name? How much else did she know?
"What do you want from me," he asked bluntly.
"I'm asking for why I should trust you," answered Celestia. "So that you can be released into society. You are a pegasus, correct?"
"Can you see me," he questioned.
"Yes, I can see you. Are you a pegasus?"
Jun nodded an affirmative.
"What is it that you are wearing, Jun?"
"I can't tell you much about it."
"May I inquire why?"
"Most of it is classified."
"I see. So I assume that you are a soldier then. It would explain the knife. I suppose that is armor?"
"MJOLNIR armor."
"I have never heard or seen such a design. On your wish, I will not inquire more about it. I assume that you want to know where you're located?" Jun shrugged, trying to appear uninterested. "We are in the Royal Castle of Canterlot. I have a few more questions for you. They'll be your way of leaving. Will you answer them?"
"I will, if they aren't private," he replied.
"Well then. I'll admit that I know more about you than you believe. I have to ask, are you a Spartan? And, if it's open information, what is a Spartan?"
Jun hesitated for a moment before answering. "Yes, I'm a Spartan. A Spartan-lll to be exact. Spartans are elite soldiers who's bodies have been augmented for enhancements like near-unbreakable bones and quicker reflexes." He wasn't going any deeper than that. Or into the differences between a Spartan-lll or ll.
"That would explain the size, strength, and speed you have. In your previous form, as a human, were you on the 'good side'? And before you ask, I do know what a human is."
"If you want to consider the side fighting for the existence of it's species, then yes, I was on the 'good side'."
"I want to thank you for your cooperation. I believe that you mean well. I want to name you now as a part of the equestrian society. Before I let you free, I have one request for you. Do you remember the group of ponies you first encountered? I want you to protect them, and befriend them. Please do act appropriately too. It would be for your own interests." She said the last sentence firmly. He knew she meant it. "You will sleep here tonight, and I will collect you in the morning for your introduction."
The Spartan responded with a quick,"affirmative", before clambering onto his cot. He stared at the ceiling of his 'cell', absorbed in his thoughts. He decided to check through his helmet's files. Surprisingly, he found one labeled 'music'. Opening it, he found one of his favorite songs. The song began, with the sound of drums quietly in the background, quickly followed by violins. After about a hour, it ended, bringing up a few words.
I heard you liked it. For letting me borrow your SRS. -Six
Touching, he thought jokingly, as he closed out of the song. So this was his gift. He was surprised he'd never noticed it.
"That was a beautiful song," said a quiet voice.
Jun hadn't realized that it was on his external speakers. Mentally scolding himself, he sighed softly.
"I agree."
"Before you ask, I am the Princess of the Moon, or Princess Luna, younger sister of Princess Celestia. I was checking to see if you needed anything."
"I'm fine," he answered. "I do have one request. Could you let me see the sky?"
Before he knew it, the top of his room was reflecting the night sky.
"Your welcome."
"I appreciate it." He continued staring up, wondering if he'd see the familiar sight of Covenant ships coming out of slipspace, or hear the command to retreat. He felt that he wouldn't. Last time he checked, the Covenant was pulling apart. He had to say, that spartan really knew how to wreak havoc. He set a timer on his UGPS for the morning. From there he felt himself drift into a dreamless sleep...
The Next Day...
The sound of an alarm clock dragged Jun awake, the beeping sound starting to annoy him. Quickly silencing it, he prepared for the events that were planned today. He slid off his cot and stretched throughly. There was a knock on the wall, which opened into a doorway. Two royal guards entered, along with the Princess. He was bewildered to see her mane flowing like there was a gentle wind running through. Probably magic. The guards pointed their spears at him, with a stoic expression on their faces. They thought that this was heroic?! Try fighting the Covenant everyday, then we'll see who has that right.
"Are you prepared for the introduction," asked Celestia.
"I'm ready," he replied quietly.
He walked through the opening into a huge hall that stretched far above even his head. The Princess walked forward as her two guards shuffled beside him. Celestia looked back and nodded them off. "That won't be necessary," she assured them. The guards, looking at the Princess and Jun nervously, eventually nodded and headed off. With his heightened hearing, he heard her mutter under her breath, "At least, I hope it won't." As the two walked along, Jun noticed some ponies stop and glare at him, with mixed expressions of fear and hostility. Jun countered this by calmly glancing back. As they approached the entrance, he halted the Princess.
"Excuse my asking, but may I take my weapons?" Jun looked at her seriously. "I can defend more efficiently with them." Celestia called for a guard who in turn returned his weapons. He replaced all of them in their original positions. Celestia just stared at him.
"Don't make me regret this decision."
He smirked under his helmet. "No promises."
The Princess looked back at him. "I could escort you back to your room," she teased, understanding the joke.
Jun heaved an exaggerated sigh. "You won't regret it."
They came out onto a plaza overlooking what he assumed was Canterlot. "Beautiful view," he commented.
"Yes, I have to agree."
A chariot awaited them, along with the two pegasi guards who controlled it. "Uh, Princess?"
"Yes?"
"How is that going to hold me?"
Celestia glanced at him with the look that said 'I'm sure it can hold you'.
"I weigh half a ton..." He got the exact look he expected. The one that said,'Holy shit'.
Chapter 1
I remember a time, once where a soldier was known for his luck. His luck never seemed to leave. People would be shocked at how significant his luck was. I remember once, a time where I had met this individual. Stoic and heroic he was. Well, I hope his luck rubbed off on me at this moment. Actually, I'm praying right now that his luck rubbed off on me. Anything to avoid the death that I knew would come after me at one point. Now, looking up at the energy sword that was is about to impale me, I just wishing for anything to save me. Well, Jun, I guess this is the end. I looked into the Elite General's hatred-filled eyes, and then the weirdest thing happened. A blue orb appeared behind him. The elite too, was surprised. Surprised by the orb, and the fact that my knife was now going into his neck. The orb caught my gaze as it grew in size. And before I knew it, I just got pulled in. The scariest thing in my life happened then. Everything went black. Am I dead?
"No", a godly voice stated simply in my head,"we're just started."
Chapter 5: Hallucination
Jun awoke slowly, watching as his armor systems boot up. He pushed himself onto his feet slowly, his vision still hazy. He looked down, and to his utter surprise, he was human? His mind started trying to do the calculations, but gave up quickly. He had started doing that recently. Logic really didn't exist here, did it? He looked around slowly, still coming to his senses. He was in a cave, which explained the darkness. But why did he feel so lightheaded? He felt as if he was drunk, if that was even possible for him. He'd probably drink all of the alcohol in a bar before feeling anything. His helmet flipped his helmet lights on, and started searching for a exit. The cave started getting smaller and smaller, before it ended. Weird. He started feeling lightheaded again. He fell. Not like fell over on the ground, fell as in the cave tilted 90 degrees. The rocks parted in front of him, sending him flying down an endless hole. He screamed, before hitting the ground. Somehow uninjured, he recovered to his feet as figures appeared. He walked forward slowly, and the figures turned into people. The first one wore Cyan armor similar to his own. "Kat?" he questioned, stepping forward in her direction. 'Kat' just dissolved, in a way similar to sand being blown away on a beach. The second was Jorge. He moved quicker this time, hoping for the figure to become real. It dissolved like 'Kat', being blown away. It happened again and again, with the remaining members of Noble. He came upon the last figure, expecting it to be Six. It looked back at him, nodding once, before walking off through the cave. Jun quickly followed him, hoping he was at least real. He caught a glimpse of light. 'Six', also noticed the light, and ran towards it. Before long, they emerged from the cave, until even Six disappeared. Jun scanned the landscape for any familiar landmarks before feeling something slam into the back of his head. He fell to his hands and knees, as everything started to fade. He heard multiple voices in the background, and then it went black...
