Chapter Zero: The New Dominion Arrives
The New Dominion Arrives
The graveyard was silent. The sighs of the dead were all but inaudible. The full moon shone over head. A light fog rested low, embracing the ground in its cold, wet being. In the center of the main courtyard, stood a lonely, old mausoleum. No words were inscribed to indicate any vacancy or lack there of. Slowly, a crack began to form along the door frame. As though being chipped away by hand, it grew unevenly, jumping several inches in seconds, then slowing to an immediate crawl. Once the fissure reached the bottom of the sturdy frame, it took a jagged turn, and began growing along the bottom of the mausoleum front. This pattern continued, until the crack met back where it started, creating a sort of rectangular gape.
As though it happened in the blink of seconds, the front of the mausoleum shattered into several large chunks and many smaller shards of varying size. The event caused an earth-rattling rumble that echoed throughout the graveyard. The patrons of this place gave no evidence of care; they simply slumbered on, listlessly, for eternity. Along with the crumbling of the stone wall came an ominous glowing, green light of pure, venomous malice. As the partition fell, a figure came into view, standing between the source of light and the opening. He slowly stepped out of the crypt and into view.
Now out of the shadows, anyone could see this silhouette was not entirely man, but far from beast. His skin was as white as the marrow of bone, his long hair an even whiter, almost silver. His eyes were cold and soulless, yet shone a brilliant topaz. He stood almost six and half feet tall, and was outfitted with shoulder pads, the right one larger than the left, black leather leggings, steel boots, a red waist guard, and his blade, The Soul Reaver, sheathed at his side. His fangs shined in the moonlight. He hunched over slightly, then quickly brought his head up, throwing his shoulder length hair behind him. He took in a deep breath, savoring every detail in the lingering air. The smell of the equestrian, the friendly, the mortal, the feeble, the weak: all of this met his flared nostrils and he smiled. It wasn't a smile of rejoice or happiness. It was cold and heartless. It shown of hunger, lust, pride and pleasure. Pure, sick pleasure.
He caught something else in the air that smelled sour against his senses. His smile quickly faded, and his visage turned far darker than his previous countenance. The odor was foul, but not unfamiliar. The figure of a large armored man flashed in his mind. No, not a man. This was the scent of a Hylden. More specifically, that of the Sarafan Lord.
The ominous figure standing in front of the looming crypt simply spat in disgust. While his old foe was exceedingly powerful, he had also fallen at the Hylden Gate: a portal leading to the home realm of the Sarafan Lord. He did not take the prospect that his old enemy had been here lightly, however he did chuckle. This may be more of a challenge than first anticipated.
He began walking away from the mausoleum, taking slow strides towards the exit. As he did so, the grand sight of the mausoleum began to fade, until it completely vanished. A fountain loomed in its place, the water's steady flow unbroken, for the mausoleum was never truly there.
The man who had walked out of the phantom crypt stood at the exit of the graveyard, the tall gate staring down at him. Locked from the outside he had no means of a physical escape. He began walking towards the gate, the fog slowly rising up and wrapping around his legs, slowly engulfing him. When his body touched the cold, dark bars of confinement, the mist had completely swallowed him. He grew translucent, and passed through the gate with ease, becoming one with the mist.
He did not break his stride, as he continued his walk out of the graveyard. He made his way up a nearby hill, until he was looking out over a small sleeping village. Cottages, homes, and businesses dotted the country side. A farm stood to the side. He looked at a nearby sign.
Now Entering Ponyville
Population: 413
Ponyville, eh? Well he would soon make it his. For he was the Savior of Nosgoth, the Scion of Balance, the Leader of the Council, the Scourge of the Circle, the Disrupter, the Pebble in the Pond. He ruled over his own Empire, his own armies. He was the de facto Emperor of Nosgoth. He was Lord Kain, King of Vampires, and this realm would soon be his.
Blood Omen: Equestrian Blood Bath
The First Feast
Princess Celestia looked out over her kingdom. Her sister's moon was still high in the air, but something... unsettling... had awoken her. She only had on a white tank top and mint green booty shorts: her usual sleeping attire. She stood at her window and looked out over the peaceful, sleeping city. One of her hands gripped the draperies askew to her left. She had felt a sudden pulse of energy in her dreamless sleep, which had startled her awake. Something lurked out in Equestria. Something new, something evil.
The door to her room swung open, causing a draft to get in. Celestia's flowing, luminous hair caught the sudden flow of air, as she turned to see who the intruder was. Her younger sister Princess Luna stood in the door frame, her arms wrapped, a worried look on her face.
"Sister..." Luna started to say.
"I sense it, too." Celestia turned back to the window.
"What could it be?" Luna moved towards her sister.
"I haven't a clue." Celestia gripped the curtain tighter.
"Even as Nightmare Moon, not even I felt this dark and powerful," Luna shook her head, her gaze wide. She looked back at Celestia, hopefully, "What do we do, dear sister?"
"Pray for the best." Celestia replied, flatly, not taking her gaze away from the window.
Kain walked towards the town square. All was silent, except for the low buzz of a nearby street lamp. He looked around, but there was no one in sight. He began walking aimlessly through the streets. Even in the dim light the building colors were to bright. The Lord of Darkness was about to give up on this petty village and move on, when the sound of a garbage can tipping over alerted him to someone's presence. He crouched low, and once again became one with the mist. While misting, Kain could see the blood flow of living creatures. However he saw only their blood flow, so the mortal who had previously knocked over the trash can appeared, to Kain, as a walking system of veins. Well... stumbling, rather than walking. The creature in question had swung around the corner to a nearby building, and was now staggering past Kain. As the creature passed him, Kain slowly stood up, to get a better look at the creature. He noticed it was a human. Not just that, but an intoxicated, female human. Kain sneered. He was hoping for a different form of sentient being to live in this realm, but he supposed he could just turn this world into a place for free roam cattle (the cattle being the humans).
Kain winced, slightly. He hadn't fed in days, and he was growing weaker. He slowly walked up behind the girl. Although she had a vile, human soporific in her blood, he supposed she would have to do. She had light blue and white hair, and stood roughly a head below Kain. He thought about the human before him, and decided to see if she knew anything about the current ruler of this land. He linked their minds, telepathically and analyzed her memories. Most of what he found out, was that this girl was somewhat promiscuous, and Kain had to endure many memories of this girl committing sexual intercourse with her girlfriend. Luckily, he eventually found what he needed.
"Celestia, eh?" Kain murmured.
"Huh?" The girl was about to turn around and see who was talking, but she felt a sudden pinching in her chest. She looked down to see a white hand, protruding from her chest... gripping her heart.
The woman fell limp, and Kain pulled his hand back through her chest, still holding the heart. He began draining the blood from the heart, digging his fangs in deep. When he was finished he looked down at the fresh corpse. He raised a hand, fingers spread and crooked, palm up and opened his mouth. Any blood left in the body and in puddles around her began flowing through the air and into Kain's open gape.
After every drop of blood had been ingested, he wiped his mouth with his arm and turned to walk away. Before leaving, he turned, thinking about the memories he had seen. "I think," he said, calmly but maliciously, "I shall pay your little girlfriend a visit. Good night," he turned back and continued walking. "Lyra."
Celestia and Luna had no time to lose. They had to put a stop to this dark, growing power. The two ran through their castle, wearing bath robes over their sleeping clothes, towards the library. The castle library was fairly large. Stacks of books piled high on tables. The shelves towered up to the ceiling, concealing old tomes and volumes not touched in centuries. A small layer of dust rested throughout the entire library. They worked their way up a flight of stairs to a higher level of the library, where even older books sat untouched. They knew their hopes were slim that they would find any useful information, but they had to try. The sisters did not want this to become a matter of hysteria for all of Equestria, so they decided to take this matter into their own hands.
After several hours of fruitless searching, Luna came across a manuscript. "Sister," she called, "I may have found something."
Celestia took the manuscript and skimmed through it. The papers held depictions of evil beings, and the signs of their arrivals. Her tall, graceful figure moved across the hall of book shelves to a chair. Luna move around behind her, and read over her sister's shoulder.
"Anything?" She whispered.
"We need to act, now." Celestia answered, in a forceful tone, as she got up and began moving towards the exit. Luna was going to follow, but she stopped to read the page her sister had seen.
"Vampire lord." she muttered under her breath, as she read. Fear began to rise as she dropped the page and followed her sister.
Kain moved across the town, his strength nearly restored. He leaped from building to building. While this was only his first night here, he felt accomplished in feeding so well on half of the village. His most recent victims, a family of farmers, had revealed, in their memories, where his next victims should be. Kain had been using the memories of his victims to find his next targets, all night. The little girl in the house he had just raided revealed that she had an older sister, who was staying with a friend.
Kain arrived at the trunk of a large, looming tree. It's branches extending out in every direction. The tree had been hallowed out, and turned into a home. Kain knelt low and made his way to the front door. He saw in the windows that the lights were still on, and he peaked into one of them. He saw roughly four or five figures, but he couldn't be sure. He had learned from the memories he had collected that these particular humans had other worldly abilities, like his own. He learned that they could turn people into stone, if provoked. He recollected a certain memory of an annoying draconequus frozen, mid scream.
Kain decided to take a different approach on getting his feed, this time. He straightened up, cracked his neck and approached the door. This tactic always pained him, but he needed all of his strength before attempting to overthrow this 'Celestia' person. Besides, the sun would be up any second, and he needed to get inside. So, despite his utter loathing for this decision, he raised a hand, and knocked on the door.

2. Keep Your Friends Close...
... And Your Enemies Closer
Kain sat uncomfortably, wedged between a girl with shimmering purple hair and a girl with hair of varying color. "Thank you," he had said upon being allowed entrance into the hollowed out tree. Everyone was staring at him, wanting an explanation.
After some time of awkward silence, the girl who had let him in spoke, brushing her purple and pink hair out of her eyes. "Were you out there all night?"
"Yes," Kain quickly answered.
"Do you have a name?" The rainbow haired girl asked.
Kain hesitated. "Raziel," he lied.
"Well 'Raz', what brings ya here?" inquired a blonde girl in a stetson, similar looking to the most recent family Kain had fed upon.
"Just looking for a place to stay," Kain answered, calmly.
"You're not from around here, are you?" queried a girl with obnoxiously large, pink hair.
"No, I'm..." Kain thought, "here on business. I won't be staying long."
"Well Raziel, you can stay as long as you need to. We're always happy to have company, right Spike?" The girl with purple and pink hair turned.
A young man with spiky purple hair and green chin fuzz was emerging from the kitchen with a tray of beverages. "Sure," he answered, "we've got a guest room you can stay in." He set the tray down and the girls each took a drink.
Kain waved his hand dismissively. "I'm fine."
"Yes, you are," muttered the girl with purple hair sitting next to Kain, who was eyeing his abs.
"Pardon?" Kain glanced over to the girl, who blushed slightly.
"Nothing," She quickly said. "I'm Rarity, Mister Raziel, and if you need anything, anything at all, do not hesitate to ask."
"Well that's quite generous of you, Miss Rarity," Kain replied.
"That is her Element of Harmony," The rainbow girl replied in a sort of snide tone. Kain looked at her, wanting further explanation. He had heard of these 'Elements' and wanted to know as much as he could. "Yeah," She continued, "Rarity's Generosity, I'm Rainbow Dash, and I represent Loyalty. Pinkie Pie here represents Laughter, Applejack is Honesty, Fluttershy is Kindness, and Twilight Sparkle is Magic." She pointed to each girl, respectively.
Kain relaxed, immensely. He was worried the 'Elements' would be more destructive, and be more of a challenge to over come, but laughter? Kindness? The only real problem might be magic. Lord knows what this Twilight Sparkle girl could do with the power of magic. "Well with introductions out of the way, I think I'll be off to bed. It has been a long night." Kain stood up before adding, "Thank you so much, Miss Sparkle, for your hospitality."
"Of course, Raziel," Twilight smiled, "I can show you to your room, if you'd like."
"I've got it," Rarity stood up, immediately. She cleared her throat and calmed herself, "I mean, I can show him, Twilight. Don't worry yourself."
"Oh," Twilight said, surprised by Rarity's input. "Well, thank you, Rarity."
Kain and Rarity climbed the stairs to the guest room with no words exchanged between the two.
"Here you go," Rarity opened the door and let Kain through. Immediately seeing the sun through the window, he threw the curtains shut, only allowing a small glow to come through. Hearing a small click behind him, he turned around to see Rarity standing between him and the door, a playful smile on her face. "Raziel," She started, "I told you, I would do anything for you, but I don't think you grasped the concept of what i meant."
Kain smiled, but not for the reason Rarity thought he was. this was going to be easier than he thought. "Miss Rarity," He walked over to her, placing his hands on her shoulders. "What I would ask of you, I don't think you could accomplish."
"Nonsense," Rarity muttered, lost in his brilliant, yellow eyes, "Anything I would do for you, Raziel..."
Kain slowly pulled one of the shoulders of her shirt down her arm, quickening her breath.
"Raziel..." She looked down at her now clearly visible, lacy blue bra, "Aren't you quick."
"You have no idea..." Kain leaned in close to Rarity. She closed her eyes and puckered her lips, leaning into him. She was met with a quick, sharp pain where her neck met her shoulder. Her eyes snapped open to see Kain moving farther from her vision as she fell to the ground. She tried to scream, but no sound came out. Tears rolled down her face, as she realized what was happening. But it was to late. Her vision was blurring, and her heart rate was slowing. The last thing she saw was the shimmer of crimson on Kain's fangs.
"Twilight," Spike said, immediately after Rarity and Kain left, "Are you sure you want that Raziel guy here? He freaks me out."
"Come on, Spike," Twilight shook her head, "A second ago you were all for him staying."
"Yeah well, I just didn't want to get on his bad side." Spike looked over at the stairs leading to the guest room. "There's just something about him that gives me the creeps."
Pinkie Pie popped up behind him, scaring him. "Is it 'cause he looks like a spooky, scary dark lord of reckoning, bent on having every inch of existence bow before his evil, visceral will and to have any flicker of hope cower in the darkest abyss that is his hellish, nightmare of a dream world?"
Everyone stared at the girl. That was an oddly abrupt, yet specific detailing of a theory. As Spike opened his mouth to speak, the cold, monotonous voice of Kain echoed from the lower stair landing, "And what would give you that idea?"
Pinkie giggled. "I just said you looked like that kind of person. It's kinda intimidating, actually."
Kain glanced around the room, "I'm sorry I frighten you. I'll be gone by tomorrow's time." He turned to leave, back up the stairs, but then remembered why he left in the first place, and turned around to look at Twilight, "Your generous friend, Ms. Rarity has had to... step out for awhile." He thought of the quick glances he had of her memories, "She had an emergency with a dress order."
"Oh," Twilight looked at the front door, then back to Kain, "We didn't see her leave. She must have taken the back door. Thank you, Raziel."
"But of course." The broad, alabaster man turned around and headed back up the stairs. That pink girl has to go. She's simply unbearable...
