Chapters Not long after the founding of Equestria the tribes of Earth Ponies, Unicorn and Pegasus began to prosper and live in harmony with one another. Far off atop a mountainside stood the great city of Canterlot where the leaders of the four tribes held council and governed their kingdom with wisdom and trust but this happiness was not to last.
Far off in the northern wastes lived an ancient tribe of creatures known as Wargs who lived their lives plundering and killing any who dared to stand against them. Their leader was named: "Gor'Zan The Butcher".
He was a towering warg chieftan whose armor was decorated with the skulls of his victims while his only injury was his left eye that was cut out by Commander Hurricane herself during a skirmish on the border of the wastes and it was on that day that he'd swore he'd bring an end to the Equestrian Empire before it could flourish and soon the lands to the north fell to the wargs but not all hope was lost.
Uniting against this common threat the Earth Ponies, Unicorns and Pegasai marched against the armies of Gor'Zan and thus began the great war.
The blood of both warg and equestrian stained the land as the conflict grew with the enemy forces growing stronger with each victory while the morale of the Equestrians grew weaker but amidst the chaos the commander had one child whom she cherished dearly; Her only son Storm Wind.
His eyes were red like his mothers coat while his was black along with his mane, his father General Stout Heart was killed on the front lines during the first year of the war leaving his mother to look after him and although she was strict most times Storm Wind loved his mother dearly and was in training to take her place along with his closest friends; Archer a unicorn who was a master marksman, his sister Charm Caster another Unicorn who specialized in elemental magic and Iron Forge; An earth pony who was the largest among the group and an expert blacksmith.
Years past and the time soon came when all four were old enough to enlist in the army. Stormwind took an assignment as a foot soldier along with Archer while Charm Caster joined the battle mage division and Iron Forge became a master blacksmith for the army.
"Where's our post?"
Archer asked slightly turning to his friend while the general on stage gave a speech to his new recruits.
"An outpost on the border. Not much action though."
Said Stormwind sounding disappointed since he was hoping to be sent to the front lines like his father before him and at the end of the ceremony all the recruits as well as the crowd cheered in excitement while some looked on with heavy hearts knowing they were sending their children off into war knowing they might never come back.
Like all warrior traditions it was customary for the mothers of all pegasai warriors to dress their children in armor passed down through the family and the time had come for the commander to hand down her late husbands armor to her son.
Though she was supposed to feel proud of him Commander Hurricanes eyes saddened as she placed the helmet atop her sons head making him a spitting image of his father and soon her eyes slowly flooded with tears as she hugged him giving only one request.
"Come back with your shield....or on it."
Stormwind said and did nothing knowing it would only make things worse as he picked up his shield and sword heading off to join the others, after two days march the recruits finally arrived at the outpost where a handful of soldiers were already hard at work training or building defenses while some lazed about in the shade. It wasn't long before Archer and Storwind were shown to the barracks as a guard captain marched up to them holding his helmet on his side.
"Archer and Storm Wind?"
"Yes sir."
Storm Wind called still standing at attention with Archer.
"Congratulations. you two get to work tonight's guard shift."
Although it was expected most recruits had to prove themselves useful by completing at least one task given by their commanding officer and when the captain had left the two friends simply shrugged their shoulders and decided to hit the hay with Archer calling top bunk while his friend simply fell onto the bottom mattress finally feeling the exhaustion of the long march towards the outpost.
Night soon fell with a full moon illuminating the dark shadows within the fortress but the silence felt eerie and unnerving what with the occasional howl in the distance while Storm wind and Archer guarded the western wall of the fort.
The silence was only broken by the sound of the wind passing through and the flags flapping in the breeze, as the two were about to change shifts Archer spotted a silhouette in the moonlight knocking an arrow faster than he could blink only to see nothing but a white blanket of snow with his heart racing slightly.
"What is it?"
Asked the guard next to him as Archer slowly let down his guard.
"Nothing...must be my imagination."
Archer said just before an arrow struck the guard in the neck as he fell from the wall and out of the shadows came an entire warg pack armed to the teeth as they stormed the wall.
Wasting no time Storm Wind rushed to the bell tower sounding the alarm as the soldiers were roused from their sleep, scrambling for their weapons.
"ARM YOURSELVES!!!"
Shouted the commander as he began hacking away at the first batch that came at him and soon the whole fortress was in chaos. The wargs began swarming the gatehouse trying to overwhelm the guards with Archer picking them off one by one while Storm Wind joined the others fighting in the courtyard.
Weapons clashed and cries rang out as the battle raged on until at last the wargs were driven back with the fortress taking minimal damage. The commander ordered his troops to check for wounded and put out the fires set to some of the buildings.
Dawn rose and with it came sorrow, out of the one hundred recruits sent to the fortress twenty laid dead and many of them were good friends Storm Wind and the others knew from their training days, never before had they experienced such horror before last night and as he sat there looking upon his fallen comrades the commander came up behind him placing a hand on his shoulder with a look of understanding.
"Many more of us would be lying there son. Ya did good."
Though this was a moment to be proud of Storm Wind felt nothing but shame and began to wonder if what the commander said was true.
"Did I?"
He began to think and it was not long until a messenger was sent back to Canterlot informing the council of the recent attack and the loss of their troops with the commander growing concerned since the enemy had never advanced this far past the border before and knew something must've happened at one of the outposts near here.
"I need ten volunteers for a scouting mission. We're gonna find out where these mongrels came from now who's with me?"
At first the commander was met with nothing but silence until Storm Wind stood up spear in hand with Archer and Iron Forge right behind him with seven more joining in, their commander looked at them with pride seeing the fire in their eyes before dismissing them to prepare. Later at the armory the troops donned the best weapons and armor the fort had to offer.
Archer being a marksman only wore leather padding and a chain mail vest making him more mobile while Iron Forge wore heavy plating along with Storm Wind who chose to stick with his spear given to him by his mother before departing.
"Do we have anything resembling a plan?"
Asked archer grabbing a full quiver of arrows while Iron Forge grabbed a large battle axe giving a quick answer.
"March till we find em, kill em all."
The three friends then departed for the gate with the others before marching off towards the next outpost with their comrades cheering and saluting them and among them was Charm Caster who looked more concerned than proud seeing only a handful of them marching off to certain doom.
"It's a whole days march to the next outpost! You fall behind you get left behind! Move out!!"
The soldiers then stormed out of the front gate with great haste, the ground thundering beneath them and weapons held tightly in their grip with a few Pegasai flying overhead as scouts while the rest stayed with their leader while off in the distance the few remaining wargs watched closely grinning with anticipation before stealthily disappearing from sight marching in the same direction as the scouting party.
The End.

My first fic with my a few of my OC's.
Knowing that the discovery of the scroll would soon be made news to the enemy the heroes quickly departed for the nearest city on their way to Canterlot; Stormpike City.
It was a city named after the mountain it was built upon and was home to the equestrian armies most loyal allies the Gryphons.
Though known to be prideful and ignorant towards other races the gryphons joined in the fight against the warg clans after hearing the many exploits of their soldiers including Stormwinds mother and father who helped establish relations between the two nations. Charm Caster was in charge of navigation while the others took a standard guard formation around her and Melody.
"Charm Caster. How long till we reach the city?"
Her brother asked sounding annoyed as she crumbled the ends of the map growling at him as he suddenly grew nervous and turning around keeping quiet while the others laughed Melody however seemed shy despite the friendly mood among them, Charm Caster noticed this and decided to break the silence with a little conversation.
"So Melody. How long have you been in the army?"
"Oh! Uh just a few months actually...I volunteered for the medic division so as not to worry my mom."
"That's nice."
The two became fast friends and were enjoying each others company when Storm Wind suddenly gave the signal to halt when the came upon a frightful sight; A caravan that had been recently attacked and among the bodies were fellow soldiers from Canterlot, it was clear that there were no survivors and much of the cargo was stolen save for a few crates of food scattered on the ground.
"let's salvage what we can."
Storm Wind turned to the others who nodded in agreement as they gathered the supplies before burying the dead on a nearby hill and returning to their journey, for a while things went silent again with the friends staying silent with some of their heads looking down at the dirt road in sadness after seeing more of their fellow ponies slain in battle.
"Let's make camp for the night."
"Where?"
"There."
Storm Wind pointed out an abandoned watch tower covered in vines and moss with much of the interior collapsed but despite its appearance it made for a perfect shelter as the sun began to set on the horizon.
No fire was lit that night as there was barely a breeze in the night air and the risk of exposure on the open road was too great after seeing the recent attack.
Archer was the first on the night watch since he was able to scale the fallen debris with ease reaching the top of the tower, he wore a hooded cloak to blend in with the towers shadows keeping his bow hidden with an arrow at the ready and while keeping watch his sister used her magic to bring him some food and drink which brought a smile to his face when suddenly a chilling howl was heard rousing the others from their sleep.
Storm Wind and Iron Forge took positions on different sections of the towers wall keeping their heads low as they looked around while Charm Caster prepared an invisibility spell for them in case they were spotted while Archer slowly drew his arrow back looking in the direction the howl came from and after a long watch a large pack of timber wolves appeared allowing them to give a sigh of relief as the first glimpse of dawn pierced the horizon.
Charm Caster rechecked the map to get a clear idea of were they were on the map and found a nearby stream along the road where they could refill their water supply while the girls took a refreshing bath, as the morning went on the boys refilled their flasks and the girls were surrounded by a shining barrier created by Charm Caster who was in a shallow part of the river bathing with Melody.
"Ahh...this is nice."
Sighed Melody as she stroked her cheek feeling the cool water caress her skin while across from her Charm Caster couldn't help but stare at her surprisingly large chest halfway in the water.
"Hey Melody can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"....Are those real?"
"W-WHAT?!?"
Her face turned to shock as she covered her chest, turning away from embarrassment while her friend covered her mouth laughing at her reaction.
"What? It's an honest question."
"I can't believe you'd ask that!!! the boys might hear us!"
"no they won't. This barrier is soundproof on the inside, we can hear them but they can't hear us so it's just us girls here."
Giving a friendly wink Melody started to let her guard down a little with the previous question still fresh in her mind while outside Storm Wind flew high up scouting for any signs of the enemy or another passing caravan they could use to make their journey to Canterlot faster but as he looked on he saw nothing but open plains and a clear sky.
Meanwhile The girls had finished bathing and were headed back to join the others while still having a friendly conversation.
"So Melody. How come you joined the army? I mean you probably have a special somepony waiting for you right?"
"I....I don't have a special somepony, at least not yet."
The statement surprised Charm Caster as Melody explained how most stallions only wished to romance her to gain a rank in their social status or to simply claim her as a prize, it seemed that Melodies love life was a sad one until she told her friend that one day an elite stallion of the Cloudsdale guard tried to force himself on her before she was saved by a young pegasus who took down the guard with nothing but his bare hands. That pegasus was Storm Wind.
Then a look of joy overcame Charm Caster as she grabbed Melody looking her straight in the eye with determination.
"That settles it! we're going to make Storm Wind your man!"
Holding her close Charm Caster pointed to Storm Wind with a devilish grin on her face before Melody pushed her away protesting.
"Are you crazy?!?"
"Melody think about it! You were separated from him all these years only to be reunited with him again, This is true love!"
Needless to say Charm Caster was a fanatic about romance and had been a long time fan of fictional romance but before they could proceed any further with their discussion a howl was heard as Storm Wind flew up for another look this time seeing a large warg pack hot on their heels.
"MOVE!! RUUUN!!!"
The group scrambled for their gear and ran as fast as they could through the plains hearing the sound of snarling and barking behind them as Archer turned around to fire off an occasional shot trying to slow their advance but it seemed to make them angrier as their pace quickened.
"Don't waste your arrows! keep moving!"
Storm Wind yelled as they came upon the edge of a forest.
Pausing for a moment Charm Caster had taken a good look at the forest before them and instantly recognized it before running in telling the others to follow.
"We have to separate! it's the only way to loose them!"
"Alright! Iron Forge you're with me! We'll be the bait! Archer you go with your sister and Melody!"
The group did as they were told and took separate directions while Iron Forge and Storm Wind made their stand on a small hill with weapons drawn.
While the fighting was taking place Archer and the others found themselves being pursued by a small number of wargs that broke off from the rest of the pack, using what arrows he had left Archer joined his sister in one last attempt to slow them down but their numbers proved too great and were soon surrounded.
Snarls and growls were heard all around as Melody cringed with fear while Charm Caster readied another magic blast when out of nowhere a series of lightning bolts followed other forms of magical attacks began to bombard the enemy forces causing them to scatter in fear while Storm Wind and Iron Forge saw the smoke and grew concerned as they ran over their fallen foes.
"Well that was exhilarating."
Said an elderly voice coming from the smoke as Iron Forge arrived first on the scene to see the others staring in shock with Storm Wind right behind him.
"Guys what are you...staring...at..."
"Hello there!"
The group was standing in disbelief, before their very eyes stood one of the greatest unicorn mages in history; Star Swirl The bearded himself.
The End.

A little something to go along with the story.
Star Swirl The Bearded; The greatest Unicorn mage in all of Equestrian history was known for mainly being a wanderer in search of any signs of evil or finding hidden ruins and artifacts and now he was standing before the group of young heroes as he pulled out a smoke pipe with a cheerful grin.
"Good morning!"
He says in a happy tone as he lights a fire with his magic beginning to smoke while they still stood there bewildered at the destruction he caused with just a few basic spells.
Needless to say Charm Caster was excited to see a great mage like Star Swirl standing before them while the others just stayed quiet when suddenly Storm Wind stepped forward with a cheerful smile on his face.
"MASTER STAR SWIRL!!"
Star Swirl was Storm Winds tutor when he was a young colt, he taught him everything from reading and writing to basic war tactics and living off the land. The old Unicorn greeted his former student with a gracious hug before getting a good look at how much he'd grown in his absence as he walked towards the others for a quick introduction and before long the great mage was joining them on their quest to return to Canterlot with the ancient scroll.
After a long days walk the group set up camp near the roadside while Charm Caster and Star Swirl casted an illusion spell to hide themselves from prying eyes, all seemed peaceful at first when Iron Forge noticed Storm Wind looking depressed and distant as he stared into the flames before handing him some bread and an apple, with a friendly smile Storm Wind accepted as his former master blew another puff of his pipe before speaking up.
"Something troubles you my boy. Care to tell me what?"
And with a heavy sigh Storm Wind picked up his spear looking at his reflection and stayed silent for a short moment.
"It's...the anniversary of my fathers death..."
"Ah...Stout Heart."
Star Swirl had been a long time friend of Commander Hurricane and the other members of the council and was overjoyed to hear when she got married, even more so when he was offered to be best colt at the wedding. As the memories came flooding back Storm Wind looked at the old Unicorn eyes burning with questions.
"Master...what happened that day?"
"(sigh) I knew this day would come....It began at Thunder Pass; during the start of the war..."
The others sat down as Star Swirl began to tell his tale.
Star Swirl had set out with a garrison from Canterlot. Their orders were to secure a supply route through the mountains but the enemy had got there before them. Thunder Pass had been taken by the wargs lead by none other than Gor'Zan himself as he lead his tribesman in an ambush against the Equestrians, His first victim would be Storm Winds father; General Stout Heart.
"GOR'ZAN!!!"
Stout Heart roared at his foe placing his spear in the ground as Gor'Zan turned to face him pulling his claws out of another slain soldier.
"You..."
The two combatants wasted no time in exchanging blows as Stout Heart was the first to draw blood cutting Gor'Zan on his arm before the Warg Chieftan broke into a frenzy of rage, swinging his sword wildly while further down the pass Commander Hurricane along with a group of volunteers struck at the enemy from above While Star Swirl used his magic to put up a barrier protecting the main unit of the garrison.
Commander Hurricane began noticing that she was losing troops and fast with no way to escape, then out of nowhere she heard a familiar cry and as she turned she stared in horror as everything became quiet. Gor'Zan had slain Stout Heart.
"RRAAAAGGGGHHH!!!!"
The chieftan roared with triumph as he raised the lifeless body of the general over his head before he threw his slain foe to the ground while the commander stared in disbelief, as her grief and rage completely overtook her she broke ranks charging her enemy.
"Stout Heart.....NOOOO!!!!!!"
"COMMANDER COME BACK!!"
Star Swirl called out but it was too late.
Gor'Zan heard the cries of the enraged mare as he turned to face her, eager for the next kill but soon found himself outmatched as the commander unleashed the full force of her fighting skill and flight abilities, each blow sent him staggering back while his enemy struck at him like mad until at last he saw a chance to strike the commander out of the air as he raised his sword with both arms grinning with anticipation when out of nowhere a strong gust of wind threw him off balance and the commander saw her chance to end this once and for all.
"RRAGH!!!"
"*SHING!* AHHHH MY EYE!!!!"
Commander Hurricanes sword narrowly missed it's target as the chieftan fell to his knees half blind and helpless but before she could get in another swing the commander found herself defending against a barrage of arrows before Star Swirl placed a barrier nodding to her as they saw the enemy forces falling back to protect their leader.
"SLAY THEM ALL!!! TO AARRRMMS!!!"
The soldiers were ignited by the commanders cry and rallied to her side slaying what was left of the wargs.
The enemy had been defeated and the pass was taken but the cost was great, very few soldiers were left at the end of that battle and some were dying of their wounds while others helped their comrades to their feet the commander however only held one fallen soldier in her arms; Her beloved Stout Heart.
The grief was too much for her to bare as she sobbed greatly clinging to her lover desperately wanting all of this to be a bad dream, many of the soldiers saw this and bowed their heads in respect leaving the commander to mourn Stout Hearts passing.
News of the battle soon reached the council members and they were shocked by how many troops they lost in that one fight but also shocked that one of their top generals and Commander Hurricanes only love was slain, things began to look grim despite the decisive victory in claiming the pass but soon good news came.
A month after the battle it was discovered that the commander was pregnant and before long she had given birth to a young colt.
The commander laid there exhausted by the birthing process as she panted heavily hearing the cries of her newborn until at last the midwife came over with the baby wrapped in swaddling clothes escorted by Colver The Clever and Princess Platinum who were overjoyed to see the little foal come into the world.
"Congratulations Commander Hurricane. It's a healthy little colt."
Clover The Clever declared as she handed the baby over.
The commanders eyes swelled with tears of joy as she looked into her babies eyes that were red as her coat while the baby reached one hand out to her cooing as she gently held it in her arms.
"Storm Wind...his name is Storm Wind."
"I think that's a fine name."
Princess Platinum agreed with her friend and shortly after the babies birth the commander retired from active duty to raise her foal with the help of Star Swirl at the request of Clover The Clever.
As Star Swirls tale ended the group stared in amazement while their childhood friend gripped his spear in rage after hearing how disgracefully his father was treated by Gor'Zan and was now more determined than ever to ensure that the chieftan would die by his spear; To finish what his mother started then Star Swirl turned to the young colt bearing grim news of the enemies movements.
"Stormwind. You should know that our enemies know of the scroll...and they know of you my boy. Gor'Zan has placed a bounty on your head and he hasn't forgotten what your mother did to him."
"Good..."
Melody stared in shock as to what she had just heard and saw in his eyes a desire for blood and revenge as she clinged to Charm Casters arm.
"I want him to find me! and when he does I'm going to finish what my mother and father started! When he finds me the last thing he'll see is my spear piercing his black heart!!!"
In that moment the young colt stormed off while Star Swirl sighed with regret knowing fully well how his former student would react.
Meanwhile a meeting took place between the chieftans of the warg tribes as they quarreled over the recent loss of troops when Gor'Zan bursted into the room looking very annoyed.
"ENOUGH!!"
The large warg marched to his seat as the other chieftans stayed silent out of fear as Gor'Zan sat on his throne made of bones before allowing them to proceed.
"What news is there?"
"Chieftan. Our spies report that Star Swirl The Bearded has joined the group we set out to hunt and they'll be in the city by dawn tomorrow."
"We should strike Stormpike City now! catch them off guard!"
"We'd just lose more troops! besides, nothing can get through their walls!"
Gor'Zan suddenly bursted into laughter upon hearing the councilmans declaration before sitting back up and gesturing them to follow.
"Nothing? what about...THIS!!"
As they came to a small clearing in the forest the other chieftans stared in shock at what they saw. A large black dragon bound by a magic chain began to rouse from its slumber as it let out a fiery roar killing one of them before Gor'Zan walked up to it arms wide open as it laid its head down giving a purr like growl.
"Tell me my pet...do you still hunger for Gryphon meat?"
The End.

The events for this chapter were inspired by one of my favorite scenes from The Hobbit.

After another days march the group finally found themselves at their destination; Stormpike City and it was as marvelous as the many rumors of its glory described it.
In the center stood a large tower where messengers both Gryphon and pony delivered news from all over the kingdom and surrounding it was the largest market any pony has ever seen where you could find almost anything from exotic foods and spices from saddle arabia to fine silks and jewels from trottingham with the entire city abuzz with excitement and needless to say our heroes were in awe of its majesty.
The party toured the city with Star Swirl leading the way, as they strolled through the market Melody noticed a beautiful fire ruby necklace in one of the stands. It had been cut into the shape of a heart and placed in a gold casing while the chain was made of pure silver making it shine as bright as the moon while the ruby shined with an inner light as if a flame was ready to burst from its core, when Storm Wind noticed this he immediately asked for the price of the jewel shocking Melody completely.
"Excuse me? How much for the necklace?"
"Ahh you have a keen eye my friend!"
The shopkeeper exclaimed in an Arabic accent as he rubbed his hands together in anticipation.
"This was crafted by the finest Jewelers in all of Saddle Arabia and it can be yours for the mere price of fifty gold bits!"
"Done!"
Without a moments hesitation Iron Forge handed over his entire bag of bits as the shopkeeper snatched it out of his hand before handing over the necklace while Melody still couldn't believe what she was seeing.
"Storm Wind you didn't have to do that..."
She says feeling guilty of her friend giving up all his bits just for one meesely jewel but with a slight blush the young colt handed the necklace to Melody turning his head away out of embarassment.
"Well I wanted to s-since I saw how much you liked it."
Touched by his gesture Melody happily accepted her friends gift placing it around her neck with a happy expression on her face while Iron Forge and Archer began harassing him over his gentlemanly act.
"Smooth my man!"
"Before long she'll be ALL yours!"
"GUYS IT'S NOT LIKE THAT!"
Storm Wind shouted as his black coat turned hot pink while the others continued to rib him.
"Suuure it's not."
Charm Caster smirked raising one eyebrow at him before Star Swirl cleared his throat catching their attention as they proceeded further down the market until at last they came to the military district where surprisingly the guards were on full patrol detail as squads of them patrolled the streets as well as the sky, while they eyed the security the group came to a halt as Star Swirl bowed before a towering gryphon decorated in battle worn armor.
"Greetings Uther Stormtalon. Sky Marshall and King of Stormpike City."
"Star Swirl! My old friend!"
The two greeted each other with a quick embrace while the others bowed in respect as the large gryphon returned the favor before escorting them to the castle located in the southern part of the city where a meeting took place over the discovery of the scroll.
"So...this is the scroll they spoke of."
"Yes and in it lies the location of the last two members of the royal bloodline and our best hope of securing Equestrias future."
"But what good of use is it to the wargs? why are they interested in this?"
"Because this is not the first time they've done this!"
The entire council was surprised to hear this as Star Swirl began to explain the situation.
"Long ago; During the war of chaos the wargs were among the first to join the forces of evil for promise of wealth and power in return for hunting down and destroying the Alicorn bloodline and what's worse they discovered a terrifying secret....those who drink the blood of an Alicorn will be blessed with amazing strength and skill along with immortality but at a terrible price for when you drink the blood of a pure being such as an Alicorn you lose a part of your mind as well as your soul."
This revelation disturbed the council greatly as they began to discuss among themselves about what to do with the scroll while Star Swirl secretly used his magic to listen in.
"If what he says is true then our current situation is more dire than we realized."
"Something must be done."
Skillfully deactivating his magic the unicorn mage pretended to remain oblivious to the noise around but his friend the Sky Marshall smirked since he knew him all too well before the other members finished their private conversations.
"Lord Star Swirl. We should tell you something. Not long ago a messenger from the wargs came to parley with us saying that if we handed over the scroll we would be allowed to live in peace."
"Of course we would have none of that!"
The Sky Marshall shouted slamming the table in pure outrage as the discussion continued.
"When we defied him he grew wrathful and threatened us with the fiery doom that overtook our ancestors!"
"Fiery doom? you don't mean..."
"I'm afraid so. Gor'Zan has tamed a dragon and if he were to unleash it...well you can guess what'll happen from there."
Since ancient times the dragons had been sworn enemies of both Pegasus and Gryphon alike and at one time the three factions waged war that decimated much of the land creating the northern wastes.
There was much silence as they pondered what to do next while in another part of the castle Melody was admiring the gift she had received from Storm Wind while Charm Caster smiled at her friends happiness as she giggled in delight with her.
"Charm Caster you were right! he does care!"
"See? I told you!"
The two mares squealed in delight as Charm Caster gave a congratulatory hug while in another room Storm Wind and the others inspected their gear to make sure they were ready for the next step of their journey and deep in his mind Storm Wind could still remember the story his old master told and began to furiously sharpen the tip of his spear as sparks flew to the ground with each stroke.
"Storm Wind?STORM Wind!!"
"Huh?"
Iron Forge quickly snapped his friend out of his trance as he pointed out the whetstone had fallen from his hand and with a slightly embarrassed grin Storm Wind picked up the stone and began sharpening his blade once again while Archer handed over his bow to the large stallion for inspection.
"Hmm...string needs to be replaced but other than that it seems fine."
"Sounds good. How's about we hit one of the local restaurants? You in Storm Wind?"
"No thanks. I'm gonna turn in for the night."
The two turned to one another as their pegasus friend dropped onto the bed sighing with relief when suddenly Storm wind was grabbed by his shoulders and ankles, being carried out the door.
"HEY!!"
"Sorry pal but we're going out for a night on the town whether you like it or not!!"
SLAM!!
Later that night the three colts were enjoying a guys night out at a local pub as they partook in the usual drinking, eating, laughing and some gambling on the side with Iron Forge being the source of entertainment.
The two cheered their friend on as he was caught in an arm wrestling contest with one of the local guards, the match seemed to be a complete stalemate with neither competitors arm giving way until five minuets passed into the fight.
"COME ON FORGE!!!"
Archer shouted cheering his friend on while Storm Wind gripped his newly refilled money bag sweating with anticipation until at last the gryphons arm came down with a loud slam before Iron Forge jumped out of his seat raising his arms in triumph.
"YYYES!!!!"
Iron Forge shook hands with his opponent as the crowd began to settle down and the three friends got themselves a fresh mug of cider followed by a few slices of pie and as the hour grew late Storm Wind decided to step out for some fresh air and to clear his head after realizing that going out for some fun with his friends wasn't such a bad idea after all, after giving a sigh of relief a familiar bearded face surprised him coming into a dim street light.
"Having fun are we?"
"Master Star Swirl! I uhh...
Storm Wind thought for sure that he was in trouble when suddenly his master gave a short chuckle followed by a pat on the shoulder.
"Now now my boy no need to fret. You are young and should enjoy life while you can, you know I was your age once. Made friends...a few enemies....fell in love."
In that moment the young colt turned bright red once again and began stammering his words until letting out a sigh of defeat as his old master took him for a quiet walk away from the pub.
"She hasn't forgotten you know? Melody remembers very well who saved her all those years ago."
"But both of us have changed so much over the years."
"Is that so?"
Star Swirl raised an eyebrow as he once again took out his smoking pipe while still enjoying a walk with his old student.
"You're both soldiers in the army, you're both on an epic quest to help restore an ancient bloodline and destroy all evil. Oh yes you both have changed so much."
"I can do without the sarcasm master..."
Star Swirl chuckled at the annoyed reaction Storm Wind was giving before accidentally choking on a puff of smoke as he dropped his pipe and despite the humor Storm Wind quickly patted the old unicorns back allowing him to breathe once more before the two of them shared a quick laugh as a strong breeze came blowing in but the mood soon turned dark as the old mage looked towards the dark sky above the city.
"Master what is it?"
"This breeze...it's unusually warm for mountain weather..."
Suddenly the alarm bell began to sound before the sound of flapping wings was heard followed by a bright light that ignited a large portion of the city.
"RRAAAAGGGHHH!!!!"
"DRAGOOOON!!!!!"
The End.
Panic and fear filled the streets as the people of the city ran from their homes with the dragon swooping down to unleash another burst of flame onto the city while the local guards rallied to attack the beast but as the legends told a dragons skin was tougher than the strongest steel for when the arrows and catapults hit their mark the dragon was left unphased but more enraged.
Archer and Iron Forge who were still at the inn heard the commotion and quickly ran out to see the city catching fire and droves of ponies and gryphons running for their lives before spotting the dragon making another pass as the roof of the in was smashed open.
"LOOK OUT!!"
Iron Forge and Archer quickly jumped aside as rubble came crashing down from above as the inn was set ablaze by the dragons breath, taking quick action the two scrambled back to their feet and began leading the people out of the burning building while keeping an eye out for the beast before making it out as the building came crashing down in flames.
Meanwhile Lord Uther accompanied by a group of volunteers lead a full frontal assault on the dragon as it neared the center of the city.
In an attempt to ambush it Uther lead his troops in a dive bomb attack landing right on the back of the beast but as their weapons and claws were swung the only thing they got were shards of shrapnel in their faces before being thrown off into the burning streets.
"My lord what do we do?!?"
"We have to keep that creature occupied while the city is being evacuated!"
Wasting no more time the gryphon leader sprang back to his feet for another attack with his men close behind him.
Back at the castle Charm Caster and Melody could see the destruction from their bedroom window and began to worry for their friends before grabbing their belongings and running out the door until they were stopped by two guards.
"Halt! I'm sorry my ladies but it's too dangerous to go out there!"
"Please! our friends are out there!"
Melody begged but the guards would not budge, not wanting to waste time Charm Caster stepped in front of her looking at one of them straight in the eye looking very angry as she grabbed him by the chestplate.
"Listen pal! I am a unicorn so I can use my magic to help with the evacuation and if you have a shelter which i'm sure you do my friend here can help with the wounded! so either let us through or deal with ME!!"
Her horn instantly flared up with magic before both gryphons quickly stepped aside opening the door as both mares rushed out joining another group of soldiers being deployed into the burning city.
"Thank you."
Melody said in a cheerful manner as the door shut.
Back in the city Storm Wind and Star Swirl joined in the rescue effort and soon met up with Archer and Iron Forge before they spotted the dragon blasting another wave of fireonto the soldiers attacking him, the group watched in horror as scorched bodies of gryphons came crashing down like balls of fire on the frightened citizens of the city until Storm Wind ran to one of the fallen guards grabbing his spear and prepared to take off as Star Swirl grabbed him by the shoulder.
"Storm Wind listen to me! Aim for the scales on the chest they'll be the most vulnerable! Iron Forge come with me! Archer find the tallest point in the city and you'll know what to do from there!"
"Yes sir!!"
"GO! Quick!!"
Following the unicorn mages lead Storm Wind sprang into action taking off with great speed as the dragon made another pass colliding with him in mid air while Archer ran through the burning streets spotting the bell tower still ringing loudly in the night. Meanwhile Charm Caster and Melody were escorting the citizens to the nearest shelters while helping the wounded and clearing fallen debris before Melody heard the sound of an arrow whistling through the air as it hit the dragon on its side before the alarm bell had stopped sounding.
"Charm Caster look!!!"
Melody shouted over the screaming crowd as she pointed to Archer now perched at the top of the tower with a full quiver of arrows and to no surprise Charm Caster was shocked at to what her little brother was doing.
Archer knocked another arrow into his bow while Storm Wind held on tight stabbing the beasts chest trying to peel away the scale before it barrel rolled in the air throwing him off while his friend helplessly watched.
Unable to get his bearings Storm Wind thought for sure he would plummet to his doom when suddenly an eagle cry was heard followed by a pair of talons swooping him out of the air. It was Uther Stormtalon!
"You alright lad?"
"Thanks to you!"
Uther then threw the young pegasus above as he took flight trailing behind the dragon then out of the corner of his eye Storm Wind spotted his master Star Swirl using his magic to signal them with Iron Forge holding a giant grappling hook in his hand and instantly understood the plan.
"I know that look lad. What did ya have in mind?"
"We need to herd that thing to Star Swirl!"
"You heard him lads!! MOVE IT!!!"
The flyers then went full speed moving ahead of the beast, forcing to turn as they unleashed a flurry of arrows while Storm Wind stuck his spear into a scale on the left breast giving him self a congratulatory fist pump while Star Swirls eyes narrowed down at the beast.
"Steady....steady..."
Iron Forge twirled the grappling hook ready for Star Swirls signal until at last the beast began to fly over as the unicorn mage shouted.
"NOW!!"
The hook found its mark as it wrapped around the spear before Iron Forge pulled with all his might forcing it and the scale off the dragon.
The beast roared with great fury as it spotted the unicorn and earth pony holding his scale before they suddenly vanished in a flash of light while back at the bell tower Archer was down to his last arrow and could see no real damage had been done to the dragon, as he was about to fire the arrow suddenly floated on its own as Star Swirl and Iron Forge appeared behind him.
"Star Swirl! Iron Forge!"
"Quickly my boy! we need an arrow head!"
Using the spears head Iron Forge was able to break of a small piece of the scale before fashioning it into an arrow head and replacing it on the arrow Archer was about to use.
"We have only one shot at this my boy."
Star Swirl said with worry in his eyes before Archer readied the arrow as he took aim.
"That's all I need..."
As the unicorn lined up his shot the dragon spotted them from above diving down for an attack with Storm Wind giving chase and at a much faster pace than the gryphons until at last he stood right in its path seeing its chest begin to glow red.
"I'm insane! I'm insane! I'M INSANE!!!!"
Storm Wind shouted to himself as he went in for a head on charge.
As the dragon prepared to fire it suddenly found its jaw forced shut as Storm Wind swooped from below delivering a powerful double heeled kick to the chin giving Archer a perfect shot.
THWACK!!!!
The arrow whizzed through the air faster than anyone could see until a faint flash of light was seen entering the beasts chests as it gave out one ear deafening roar rearing its head.
ROOOAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!
"HE HIT IT!! HE HIT THE DRAGON!!"
One of the citizens called out as the dragon began to struggle staying afloat before coming to a crash landing on the burning ruins below.
As dawn began to all could see the smoking ruins of the once great city as they began to come out of hiding to look for loved ones lost in the attack while atop the bell tower Star Swirl and the young stallions had passed out from all the excitement when suddenly they began to hear cheering.
Archer was the first to step out and upon doing so he was suddenly swarmed by a large mob that began to shake his hand and pat him on the back before being lifted and taken to the lifeless body of the dragon. The beast was large enough to fill a mountain cave, its scales black and talons black as night and the webbing of its wings green as an emerald, as Archer gazed upon his fallen foe the crowd parted ways as the lord of the city; Uther Stormtalon began to make his way towards the unicorn.
Fearing the worst for her brother Charm Caster was ready to leap into action only to be stopped by her three friends who didn't seem worried at all, as Stormtalon gazed upon the dragon himself he turned his gaze back to Archer bowing in respect and needless to say the young unicorn was shocked beyond belief as the crowd, along with his friends began to do the same.
"Archer. You have saved my people as well as my city...we are indebted to you."
"ALL HAIL ARCHER THE DRAGON SLAYER!!!"
Many of the citizens, including his friends cheered at Archers new found fame while the hero of the city stood there in awe at the deed he had just accomplished while back in the wastes a certain chieftan grew immensely furious over the news of his beloved pet.
"RRARRGH!!"
Gor'Zan flipped a large table in a rage before throwing one of his soldiers across the room.
"Those ponies are becoming a thorn in my side!!!"
"A mutual problem we share."
Grabbing his sword the warg turned to face what he thought would be an enemy but instead his scowl turned to a devilish grin as a hooded minotaur stepped out of the shadows revealing himself.
"Lord Minos..."
The End.
Siege of Stormpike Part 1
Not long after the dragon was vanquished a great feast was held in Archers honor and to commemorate his victory the cities blacksmiths fashioned a bow and a set of arrows from the beasts remains while his friends received other gifts. A spear and shield were made from Stormwind, Charm Caster received a large vial of dragons blood for her experiments, Melody was given a special bag fashioned from the skin and Iron Forge was given a new battle axe made from the claws.
"May these tools favor you on your journey."
Uther Stormtalon; Lord and Sky Marshall of Stormpike bowed in respect to the heroes as the celebration came to an end before a horn call was sounded just outside the gate with the guards preparing to lose their arrows as the Marshall joined them on the wall.
"What's going on here?"
"A messenger sir....From the Minotaurs."
Like the warg clans the Minotaurs were hated enemies of the gryphons.
Since ancient times the two races fought each other for power and dominance, while the gryphons were an honorable race capable of reason the Minotaurs were a tribe of barbarians who craved bloodshed and combat and were vain above all else, seeing other races as weaker beings in need of subjugation.
"I wish to speak with the one known as 'Storm Wind'! I bring a message from Lord Gor'Zan!"
Though reluctant Storm Wind flew from the safety of the battlements before planting his spear and raising both arms showing no hidden weapons as he approached the large (and not to mention smelly) minotaur before him.
"Relay your message...quickly."
Despite the large foe before him the young colt was in no way intimidated by the horned giant as he began to relay the message.
"My lord simply requests this: Relinquish the Alicorn Scroll and you shall be allowed mercy."
Suddenly the young colt glared at the minotaur slowly approaching with his fist clenched in pure rage.
"Mercy....MERCY?!? what does your master know of mercy?!? did he show mercy to the soldiers who died at the battle of thunder pass?!? DID HE SHOW MERCY TO MY FATHER WHEN HE DISGRACED HIM AFTER HE FELL IN BATTLE?!? "
Fearing he may cause an incident the others were ready to jump in until the Marshall stopped them in their tracks with eyes still fixed on the young soldier who had calmed down a tad before responding to the offer.
"Tell your master this: If he wants the scroll he'll have to pry it from my COLD! DEAD! HANDS!!! "
The minotaur had looked rather pleased with the young Pegasus response as a devilish grin appeared on his face.
"So be it. Tonight! the streets of Stormpike will run red with blood!!!"
The messenger then left in a strangely cheerful manner while Storm Wind retrieved his spear flying to the safety of the battlements, expecting to get a mouthful from the Marshall as well as his friends but to his surprise they all nodded in satisfaction before returning to the city keep.
Not long after preparations were soon made for the oncoming siege. The women and children were sent into a mountain passage hidden in the city while those who were capable of bearing arms were sent to the armory and much of them were husbands or young sons while above the city scouts and messengers were sent everywhere in hopes of aid and discovering the enemies movements while Lord Stormtalon readied the cities defense.
"Put all our forces behind the wall, bar the gate and set a watch on the surround. We will cover the causeway and the gate from above."
"What of siege machines my lord?"
"Our walls have never been breached before! the greatest stone masons in all Equestria helped build this city, both gryphon and pony alike. Within these walls...we will outlast them."
Despite his encouraging words Star Swirl could sense doubt the voice of his old friend since they both knew how cunning the minotaurs can be and the wargs even more so.
As night fell upon the city the scouts had returned, each with grave news.
"My lord....no help will come."
"What?!?"
"The Minotaurs have raided the outlying settlements! there were no survivors...."
"What of the messenger sent to canterlot?"
"He hasn't returned yet my lord."
The Marshall began to grow worried after hearing word of the raids and worse the slaughter of his people but that fear soon turned to rage as he marched pass his soldiers with only two body guards at his side.
"BRING ME MY ARMOR!! "
Meanwhile in the armory Storm Wind had finished equipping his armor but to his surprise he couldn't find his helmet and began to look around when out of the corner of his eye he spotted Melody offering it to him.
"You'll need this."
She said in a nervous manner as the helmet was gently taken from her with Storm Wind showing a friendly smile, as he prepared to leave Melody was prepared to say something when she was suddenly cut off.
"Melody....I haven't forgotten you."
"W-what?"
"I remember that night in cloudsdale."
It was a full moon night as Melody made her way home from medical school where she was studying to be a nurse. As the hour grew late she had decided to take a shortcut through an alley way near her home in the upper district when out of nowhere a guard had appeared.
"It's dangerous to be out this late miss."
"Oh! I'm sorry I just got out of class I'll be heading home now."
She said in a friendly manner when the guard suddenly slammed his hand against the wall and upon closer inspection he reeked of alcohol and his face was drunken red with a devious smile making her grow nervous.
"I-I'll be going now."
"What's the hurry? Stay a while and let's have some fun heh heh heh...."
The guard approached her with his grin growing into a sinister smile before Melody pushed him away making a run for it.
"YOU BITCH!!!"
SMACK!!!
Melody was sent crashing onto the street, her bag spilling onto the floor as the guard pinned her to the ground as she tried to struggle, eyes filled with tears.
"Now now don't be scared. I'll make you into a real woman heh heh..."
The guard was preparing to undo his pants when suddenly he felt the front of a boot hit him square in the nose making him fly back as he saw a young colt helping her up.
"WHAT THE BUCK?!? what the heck's your problem kid?!?"
"Just shut up and fight..."
The guard then reached for his sword grinning after seeing it was only a young colt before him despite the blurred vision from his drunken state.
"AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!'
The guard came swinging in at full force only to end up hitting the wall, as it turned out the kick made him more dizzy than the alcohol when the young colt flipped him over pinning his own sword against his throat.
"Any last words? Didn't think so!"
" STORMWIND! that's enough!!"
"Mother?"
Commander Hurricane, escorted by a few guards had just arrived on the scene as a young Storm Wind was preparing to deliver the finishing blow. As it turns out the commander had been investigating this soldier after receiving numerous complaints from the citizens of Cloudsdale among them were harassment and attempted rape.
"Private Lancer of the elite guard. You are hereby dishonorably discharged!"
"B-But commander-!!"
"Get this worm out of my sight! and you young man! what were you doing out this late? and with this young mare?"
Like any youth Storm Wind was scared to death of his mother, especially when she was angry. The young colt tried to explain himself but was cut short when his mother began yanking on his ear.
"You are in SO much trouble right now young man!"
"Commander wait it's not his fault it's mine!"
Melody then explained the situation to her as she finally let loose her sons ear and much to her delight heard of how he outsmarted the guard while keeping her safe.
"Well Storm Wind it seems you're this young mares hero HOWEVER you're still grounded for sneaking out!"
"Yes mother..."
In that moment the two stared at each other with a friendly smile as they said their goodbyes and the memory soon faded.
"Shortly after I learned you were in an arranged marriage so I chose to join the army....I know how you felt about me during those days Melody but things have changed now."
"Stormwind..."
"Whoever the lucky stallion is....I hope the two of you will be happy."
Just as Melody was about to explain the marriage a horn call was sounded as the two ran out to see a chain of torches lit in the distance.
"They're here..."
Within moments the soldiers began taking their posts on the battlements with Archer, Charm Caster and Iron Forge taking different sections of the wall while Storm Wind stood in front of the main gate making the minotaurs laugh uncontrollably. It was a silent before the army began banging their weapons and armor while roaring furiously trying to intimidate the defenders.
"Enough of this racket!!"
Lord Stormtalon shouted as he fired the first shot killing a minotaur on the front line and within moments the others began growling and roaring in pure rage charging straight at the wall while Storm Wind donned his helmet and readied his spear.
"Sir Storm Wind The Valiant! Knight of Equestria!!"
SHING!
"READY FOR ACTION!!!"

Thought I'd give Storm Wind his own little catchphrase. Every hero needs one.
Siege of Stormpike Part 2
"Sir Storm Wind The Valiant! Knight of Equestria!"
SHING!!
READY FOR ACTION!!!
The first wave of Minotaurs came rushing towards Storm Wind as he pointed his spear ready to attack while ignoring the laughter and taunts of his enemies.
"This some kind of joke?!?"
"You're dead meat little stallion!!!"
BLAM!!!
Out of nowhere the entire squad was sent flying in all directions and in the center Storm Wind was standing in front of a large trench smoking from the impact.
"Now you know why they call me "Storm Wind" I spent my entire childhood training for a battle like this that by the time I was 12 my wing power had maxed out to fifty and since that time it's doubled to 100 Max!!! "
Both sides were shocked by this revelation since no Pegasus in history had ever reached that kind of strength before and to demonstrate even further Storm Wind took off with great strength creating a large dust cloud before charging right into the enemy ranks, scattering them in all directions while atop the wall Archer and the others helped with the defense as the enemy began storming the battlements.
"ARCHER! Two already!"
"I'm on 17!"
"Huh?!? I'll have no Unicorn outscore me!!"
Iron Forge and Archer had begun a little competition like they always did while Charm Caster used her magic to try and thin the enemy ranks with Star Swirls help as lightning and fire began to rain down from the sky, all seemed to be going in their favor until a building near them was struck by a large boulder.
"CATAPULTS! Watch yourselves!!"
Within moments parts of the city began to crumble along with a few sections of the wall.
Both sides began to suffer heavy losses, as the siege engines continued to fire Storm Wind smashed his way through the enemy ranks as they began to feel the full force of his wing power with each blow.
"AARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!! COME ON! you won't take this city without a fight!!"
Each swing of his spear erupted in a violent explosion of wind that sent his foes flying through the air or into the ground, one might say he was the grim reaper of the battle field as the minotaurs began to fall back out of fear while Minos urged them forward.
"FORWARD YOU COWARDS!!! PUSH ON!!!"
The Minotaur King began to grow frustrated seeing a lone knight making his troops look like amateurs and began hear his name being chanted by his enemies.
"STORM WIND! STORM WIND! STORM WIND!!!"
Though outnumbered and surrounded Storm Wind fought on taking down one foe after the other as if he could see their moves before he could make them, each swing was swift and fluent along with his footsteps; like a dancer on stage he was nimble and quick being able to block and attack at the same time and soon found himself surrounded by a circle of slain foes.
"Anyone else?"
He asked in a calm manner planting his spear in the ground seeing his enemies grow fearful even as the arrows stopped flying.
The battle soon grew quiet as all eyes were fixed upon Storm Wind and Minos who had decided to take up his challenge showing he had two large axes in his hands looking infuriated.
"Who are you boy?!?"
Minos glared at the young stallion with nostrils flaring and bursting with steam while Storm Wind was already coming up with a battle plan to take him down.
"His advantage: Size. My advantage: Speed. First move: Evade double swing from both sides...then disable mobility...attack will result in back swing, employ block then disarm. Finish up with head strike then impalement. Result: My victory, his defeat."
"ANSWER ME!!!"
Just as Storm Wind predicted the assault started with a swing from both axes as Minos swung with all his might only to hit a blurred image before feeling a burning pain in his legs as he turned to see the Pegasus jabbing his spear at the joint of his legs before trying to counter with another swing only to be disarmed then hit by the blunt end of his spear, the resulting attack sent him swirling around in all directions before feeling a sudden chill in his chest and looked down to see the point of the spear thrusted into his heart.
"My name is Storm Wind. Son of Commander Hurricane! Son of General Stout Heart! and today I have claimed your life...."
Within a few short seconds of withdrawing his spear Minos fell dead to the ground leaving everyone bewildered. None but Commander Hurricane was able to pull off such a short victory against a massive foe like Minos yet there stood another with her strength and skill, soon the Minotaurs began dropping their weapons and raising their arms in surrender and before long they began to kneel before leaving some of the others confused.
"Sis what's going on?"
Archer asked as he turned to Charm Caster who continued to stare in amazement at the event before them.
"It's one of the Minotaurs most ancient traditions. The one who defeats the leader earns the right to lead the clan and today we witnessed such an event...Storm Wind. Just how much strength are you hiding?"
Meanwhile Melody was helping with the injured both friend and foe alike as she tended the wounds of a Minotaur who had been gravely injured during the battle and to her surprise he was completely grateful.
"Thank you. I-AGH! I thought I might not survive this."
"Don't talk so much. You need to save your strength."
Melody smiled as she finished bandaging the giant before her when suddenly a small doll fell out of his pocket, by the look of things the doll was hand made and brand new. Melody handed it back to her patient who began to gently smile as he held it in his hands.
"It's a gift for my daughter...she'll be three weeks old now."
"I don't understand...How can someone as gentle as you fight for someone so evil as Gor'Zan?"
Upon hearing that name the Minotaur began to sulk in shame before settling down to tell his tale.
"We Minotaurs weren't always the brutes you know us as...we were once prosperous farmers, we tilled the soil we lived on and grew crops as far as the eye can see...then came the war. Gor'Zan challenged our king to single combat and bested him but instead of killing him he allowed him to live so long as he pledged his loyalty to the Warg clan....better he had just died that day! At the start of the war the Wargs began taking our crops and farms, taking more than what was needed and our people began to starve so we were forced into joining the fight against your people."
Much to her surprise the Minotaur broke down in tears before her and she could not help but feel heartbroken for the poor brute and gently laid her hand on his arm giving him a small sense of comfort before her friends came in with fresh bandages and medicine while back on the battlements Storm Wind helped with the body count while checking for any wounded on the battlefield.
Already the crows began to circle crying out, waiting to feast on the corpses below as he continued his work coming across a few fallen gryphons who by the look of them were simple townsfolk and some were barely of age to hold a sword, proceeding to line up the bodies for the families his heart began to sank seeing the families coming out to find their loved ones slain, after a long days work repairs were under way and the dead were buried and a victory celebration was held but while the city partied far darker shadow grew in the north once Gor'Zan heard the Minotaurs had defected from his army.
"AAARGH!!!!! That boy has meddled in my affairs FOR THE LAST TIME! "
Having been fed up with his plans being ruined Gor'Zan immediately departed from his fortress with his army departing to the east; Heading towards the city eager to settle things with Commander Hurricanes bloodline once and for all.
The End.

I know the chapter is a little short but it's the best I could come up with given my every day routine keeping me busy.
A Dangerous Encounter Part 1
News of the victory at Stormpike city began to spread all over Equestria, already ponies and other races began telling tales of "Archer The Dragon Slayer", "Storm Wind The Valiant", "Iron Forge The Strong", "Lady Melody" and "Charm Caster The Great" and throughout the kingdom hope began to spread as many young stallions and mares rushed to enlist in the royal army hoping to join the heroes while far off in the north a shadow crept its way to the kingdom.
Gor'Zan having been fed up with his recent failures had chosen to retrieve the scroll himself with a large number of his elite soldiers making there way to the northern borders of the Everfree Forest, making there way under the shade of the trees completely unphased by the many dangerous creatures that lurked within until at last they came to a forest clearing dropping to the floor like rocks.
"We're not going no further! Till we've had a breather!!!"
Groaned one of the soldiers gasping for air as the others followed trying to find a soft patch of grass to lay on while one of the captains saw that night was coming.
"GET A FIRE GOING!!"
Within seconds a handful of Wargs began chopping down the nearby trees, scaring out the small animals and birds while the trees began to groan scaring some of the Wargs.
"What's that sound?
"Just the wind! Ignore it."
Unknown to the Wargs the Everfree Forest was home to an ancient race that had protected this ancient realm for many centuries and in the shade of the trees a pair of yellow eyes spied on the enemy making camp before vanishing into the shadows, the mysterious figure leaped through the trees going deeper and deeper into the dark of the forest until coming to a small glen where stood a magnificent palace built into the forest itself.
"My lord Aspen. I bring troubling news."
Aspen; The King of the Everfree Forest and his people had lived secluded from the rest of the world for many generations, not involving themselves with the troubles of the outside world until the war came.
Aspen was a towering stag decorated with golden antlers, his coat was white as snow and his eyes as green as an emeralds. Long had he ruled his domain with wisdom and trust, a trust not easily given to those other than his own kind.
"What is your report?"
"The Wargs have crossed into our borders my liege. It appears they are tracking something."
"Star Swirl...."
Aspen had been a good friend of Star Swirl and had shared much of his wisdom of the forest with him, knowing his friend was in danger the king immediately sent a messenger to Canterlot while preparing a handful of troops to deal with the invaders. Meanwhile the heroes had arrived on the southern edge of the forest; Near the borders of Canterlot where already they began to make plans for their arrival.
"First thing I'm going to do is have a nice long bath."
Charm Caster sighed as she conjured up a fan to cool herself and giving one to Melody while the boys groaned in the hot sun like a trio of zombies.
"So...hoooot...."
"Can't....take it!"
"Hm. Kids today. Can't take the heat of the outdoors."
Star Swirl declared in an almost arrogant tone as he conjured up an umbrella to shade him from the sun while they growled in anger before finally coming to a rest near the edge of the forest.
"Are you sure it's safe to rest here? what about timber wolves?"
Storm Wind asked keeping his spear at the ready while he watched for any signs of movement.
"We'll be fine as long as a barrier is up."
Charm Caster replied as she put up a shield bubble before joining the others for a quick lunch break feasting on small bits of fruit and bread.
"So Storm Wind. What're you gonna do when you get back? I mean with the stories about us going around you're probably gonna have droves of mares begging to be your wife!"
"Sorry but that's not the life for me."
Much to their surprise all if his friends couldn't believe what they were hearing as he just sat their taking a bite of his bread.
"Whoa are you serious?"
"I am and besides you all know the tradition of Cloudsdale marriages."
After giving his statement the others nodded in agreement since there were only two ways a high class member of Cloudsdale could marry.
The first was to choose someone worthy of marriage and the second was to beat them in single combat but since Storm Wind was trained under Commander Hurricane herself no mare in the entire city was able to beat him, while the conversation continued Melody sat there twiddling her fingers not saying a word.
Meanwhile in Canterlot. The messenger sent from King Aspen had just arrived with his message bringing troubling news to the council members.
"WHAT?!? Are you certain it was him?!?"
Commander Hurricane shouted as she rose from her seat in disbelief glaring at the messenger before Chancellor Pudding Head calmed her down.
"Whoa! Slow your roll sister!"
Pudding Head shouted as she tried to get the commander back into her seat with little success.
"What does that even mean?"
Princess Platinum asked before getting back to the matter at hand.
"Now. Are you sure it was Gor'Zan?"
"Yes your highness. He plans to intercept Storm Wind and his group along the main road near the forest, I suspect they'll be upon them within a days march."
This news began to fill the commanders heart with fear after remembering what Gor'Zan had did to her husband, looking to her fellow council members it was decided that a small battalion would meet with the small party as a security escort with Commander Hurricane leading along with the princesses assistant Clover The Clever and after the messenger had left for the Everfree Forest Commander Hurricane assembled her troops and departed from the city as night fell.
The next day, back at the campsite Storm Wind heard a faint rustling from the nearby bushes but pretended to stay asleep as he rolled over laying his hand on his spear before opening one eye seeing the others noticed as well before a handful of wargs charged the camp as the heroes sprang to their feet, weapons drawn.
"SURPRISE!!"
Archer shouted firing three arrows at once with Charm Caster casting a lightning spell with Star Swirls help and as the smoke settled the sound of someone applauding was heard before Storm Winds eyes bursted into shock seeing a large warg wearing armor decorated with various pony skulls.
"Impressive my boy. Allow me to introduce myself I'm-!!"
"I know Exactly who you are!!!"
Storm Wind said in a cold tone as his wings bursted open while his eyes became filled with an uncontrollable rage.
"Gor'Zan The Butcher; THE BASTARD WHO KILLED MY FATHER!!!! "

A Dangerous Encounter Part 2
After so many years of training Storm Wind finally stood face to face with the very being who killed his father; Gor'Zan. For a moment the two stood facing each other with Storm Wind gripping his spear, ready for an attack while Gor'Zan grinned at the look on the young stallions face.
"So you're the son of General Stout Heart eh?"
"Don't you DARE speak his name!!!"
Storm Wind shouted taking a step forward as the wargs surrounding Gor'Zan prepared to charge before their chieftan gestured them to stand down as he turned back to Storm Wind.
"I'll make this simple for you boy. Hand over the scroll and i'll let you and your friends live."
"I would sooner die!"
"Is that so?"
Gor'Zan smirked cocking an eyebrow as his minions began forming a circle around them.
Meanwhile. Commander Hurricane and her troops had finally reached the borders near the Everfree Forest before running in two a squad of archers lead by King Aspen himself.
"King Aspen! what brings you here?"
The commander was surprised to see the king of the forest venture out of his domain and with what appeared to be his royal guard, when the troops came to a stop Aspen looked the commander straight in the eye looking concerned.
"We must hurry! Gor' Zan has challenged your son to a duel!"
"WHAT?!?"
Despite her sons skill Commander Hurricane knew he would be no match for the leader of the wargs while back at the forests edge the duel had already begun.
"RRRAGH!!!"
Blinded by his rage and thirst for revenge Storm Wind attacked furiously without thinking while his foe gave a smug look of confidence blocking each blow while taunting him non stop.
"Impressive! You've lasted much longer than your father."
"Shut up..."
"You put up a much better fight than he did."
"I SAID SHUT UP!!!!!"
In his rage Storm Wind thrusted his spear forward as Gor'Zan stepped aside delivering a large gash in his back while Storm Wind cried out in pain.
"STORM WIND!!!"
Melody cried out as she saw the blood pouring from his wound as he rose to his feet fighting off the pain before going in for another attack before staggering from another cut to his torso while Gor'Zan laughed as he cleaned the blood of his blade.
"Really boy? is that all you got? Your mother would be so disappointed."
"RRAAAAGGGGGHHHH!!!!!"
Once more Storm Wind went into a blind rage, attacking head on while his friends called out to him trying to calm him down but it was no use as they watched their friend suffer strike after strike until at last his spear was shattered causing him to collapse from exhaustion. All had grown quiet as Storm Wind laid there on the grass soaked in his own blood, his fingers as well as the rest of his body had gone numb and his mind became a complete blank making him oblivious to everything even as Gor'Zan stood above him looking at him in disappointment and disgust.
"Pathetic! How could Commander Hurricane spawn such a weak little wretch like you?"
Even as Gor'Zan mocked him Storm Wind continued to stare up at the sky hearing nothing but the wind despite the loud cries from his friends desperately begging him to stand up.
"STORM WIND COME ON!!"
"YOU CAN STILL BEAT HIM!!"
"FIGHT BACK!!!"
Still their cries fell on deaf ears as Gor'Zan raised his sword preparing to deliver the final blow looking at the broken warrior beneath him.
"Don't worry boy....I'll put you out of your misery..."
THWACK!!!
Out of nowhere an arrow struck one of the wargs in the circle and in the blink of an eye Commander Hurricane followed by King Aspen charged the enemy forcing them to retreat back into the forest, as the fight died down Commander Hurricane saw the mutilated body of her son screaming in fright as she rushed over tossing aside her helm and weapons.
"NOOO!!!!"
Commander Hurricane cried out as she neared the body of her son trying to wake him up.
"Storm Wind! Storm Wind open your eyes!! It's me!.....It's mother!"
Quickly cradling his head in her arms she cried out fearing she had lost her one and only child as Star Swirl rushed to her side checking for a pulse while the others watched in anxiety.
"He's alive! but if we don't get him help soon he's not going to make it!"
"Can't you use your magic?!?"
"A healing spell would be too dangerous. He's lost all physical strength."
"I would help but I must return to my people."
"You've done enough. Thank you Aspen."
Commander Hurricane said sounding truly thankful as Aspen vanished into the shadows of the forest with his troops while Melody made a stretcher out of their camping equipment allowing the other guards to carry Storm Wind back to Canterlot.
Moments after arriving Storm Wind was immediately taken to the medical wing escorted by his mother while the others waited. Hours had passed before one of the doctors stepped into the room wiping his hands clean with a look of relief on his face.
"He's going to make it."
"Thank goodness."
Charm Caster said sighing with relief as they made their way to his room to see his mother at his side waiting for him to wake up with Melody but before they could enter they began to overhear something.
"I'm Sorry I couldn't stop him Commander..."
"It's not your fault Spring Breeze. I would've done the same thing given the chance....have you made your decision?"
Commander Hurricane asked as The mare gently held Storm Winds hand while he slept.
"I have....I've decided that when Storm Wind recovers I will become his wife."
The other three stared in shock at what they were hearing, The arranged marriage that they heard about was going to be between two of their closest friends and what's worse is that Storm Wind had no idea!!
The End.

Not only has our hero been defeated but now he must enter an arranged marriage?!? how will this affect him?
Next Time on "The Great War": Broken Spirit!!
See ya soon!
After many weeks of traveling and facing untold dangers the heroes finally arrived at their destination; Canterlot but the victory seemed hollow now that one of their friends laid in bed wounded and broken in both body and spirit even as Melody spent every day taking care of him, for one week Storm Wind laid there completely emotionless even as he was given breakfast in bed by one of his mothers servants.
"Here you are young master. Better eat it while it's still warm."
The servant watched as his young master grabbed his meal giving a small nod of thanks before eating as he left, an hour passed before Commander Hurricane herself came into the room dressed in a formal robe much like the Greeks and Romans wore with a smile on her face seeing her son on the road to recovery as she sat down to give a gentle hug while brushing away some of the hair from his face.
"Storm Wind...Do not be ashamed. You did your best."
"He mocked father in front of me....and I allowed that to cloud my judgement in battle...and I...I-!"
"Shhh."
Being the caring mother she was Commander Hurricane gently silenced her son with a gentle touch to his cheek before placing his head on her chest and stroking him gently which calmed him to the point where he felt safe and calm, especially in his mothers arms and a small smile was brought on his face.
"Mother?"
"Yes?"
"I....I heard you and Melody talking...is it true?"
Being shocked at the question Commander Hurricane was hoping to break the news to him gently after the series of events he and his friends had been through.
"Yes it's true...The marriage was arranged after your training...I wanted to tell you once you came back but well after this..."
"It's fine mother."
Despite his military background Storm Wind was still of noble birth and was obliged by law to agree to any political agreement no matter the circumstance. For a moment there was quiet until the young stallion let out a short sigh of disappointment before giving his mother a small surprise.
"I wanted to ask her myself you know?"
"Oh? Well when were you gonna ask her?"
"Um! that is...you see..."
A red hot blush filled his cheeks while he twiddled his fingers making the commander cover her face while she giggled as her son sunk his head in embarrassment and defeat before she kissed his forehead with a renewed smile on her face.
"Oh Storm Wind. You're still a little colt no matter how much you grow and besides I've always known how you felt about her since you were little."
Storm Winds mother declared as she took his food tray while two servants helped him out of bed to get dressed for a walk around the city, as they stepped outside Storm Winds eyes winced from the first glimpse of light when out of nowhere he began to hear cheering and the chanting of his name.
"STORM WIND! STORM WIND! STORM WIND!!!"
News of the young hero facing the warg chieftan and surviving became the talk of the city and while normally he would be filled with pride at the sound of his name being herd Storm Wind felt empty even as he was showered with petals and numerous young mares ran to him begging him to take them as his wife until at last the crowd dispersed at the presence of Princess Platinums royal guard who escorted the two Pegasai to the great hall where a small ceremony was held in honor of the young champions.
The princess awarded each of them with a military rank and entitlements along with a few small chests from the royal treasury and soon after there was a small party where even the common folk were allowed but while the celebration went on Storm Wind found a quiet spot away from the crowd with a small cup of wine as his company.
It seemed like all he wanted to do was drink the night away as he took sip after sip of wine trying to drown out his misery before he spotted a figure in the shadows.
"Who's there?!?"
He shouted before he saw Melody slowly coming out into view making him breath a sigh of relief before she sat next to him with a slight blush on her cheeks.
"I hope you don't mind. I'm not very fond of parties."
She said twirling her hair a bit as Storm Wind set his cup aside to lean against the stone wall behind him.
"Not at all. Not very keen on them myself, too noisy and-!"
"Too crowded."
Melody suddenly gasped covering her mouth realizing she finished his sentence and interrupted him at the same time.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to-!"
"No it's fine really."
In that moment the two stared at each other in a way that seemed to hypnotize them both and all began to grow silent, as they continued to gaze into each others eyes their friends had nearly interrupted the moment before Charm Caster pulled her brother and Iron Forge back behind a small bush as they continued to watch them.
Storm Winds heart began to race as he stared into the eyes of the mare of his dreams, she was more beautiful than he had remembered from her long flowing pink mane to her sky blue eyes that seemed to shine even in the night but just as they neared each others lips a sharp pain had struck him in his ribs.
"AGH!!"
"Are you okay?!?"
Melody asked as she held him before noticing a small amount of blood on his robe realizing he must've reopened one of his wounds, being a field medic the mare tore off a huge piece of her robe using it as a bandage to help stop the bleeding shocking Storm Wind as he just watched in disbelief.
"Melody don't! your robe!"
"I can always get a new one and besides you've lost enough blood already!!"
After she was done fashioning the bandage Storm Wind stared at her now ruined robe feeling ashamed even as she smiled at him while he helped her to her feet.
"Melody why?"
"Well...it's a wife's duty to help her husband."
She declared looking away with a red blush filling her cheeks as Storm Wind did the same before slowly taking her hands. Melody gave a short gasp as she turned to see Storm Wind staring at her as in a manner that seemed to calm her, slowly the stallion moved his lips toward hers ignoring the beating of his heart while Melody stood her ground even as her legs trembled and within the blink of an eye she found herself locked in the kiss she had long awaited from the one she loved.
"yes!"
Charm Caster whispered while covering the eyes of the other two while Storm Wind wrapped his wings around his beloved Melody slowly breaking their kiss with a smile before noticing the tears in her eyes.
"Melody what's wrong?"
He asked feeling concerned as he placed his hand to her cheek before seeing the smile through her tears.
"Nothing's wrong...I'm just so happy!"
Melody declared as she leaned on his chest, feeling the warmth of his embrace as she wrapped her wings around him just as he did for her.
"I love you Storm Wind."
"Melody..."
The two lovers enjoyed each others company for the rest of the night while the party went on. The next day in the council room Star Swirl had presented the scroll to the leaders of the four tribes and with it the locations of the last two Alicorns, he had worked long into the night deciphering the ancient text before finally breaking the spell concealing a map hidden inside the scroll.
"Members of the Council. After doing some research I have found the location of the last two members of the royal bloodline."
"Well then let's go find them already!"
Commander Hurricane shouted as she slammed her table with some of the crowd agreeing with her.
"Order! Order please!"
Princess Platinum shouted as the court quieted down slowly before Chancellor Pudding Head rose in agreement with the commander.
"I'm with Commander Hurricane. Why aren't we musterding the troops?"
"I believe you mean "Mustering" your chancellorship. And the reason is that the location is found deep in the Everfree Forest and as we all know that is unexplored territory so I've called for a special guest."
Turning their attention to the door the council members saw King Aspen escorted by his elite guard bowing in respect while the crowd muttered among themselves as he took his seat before Star Swirl continued his proposal.
"With King aspens help a small group of our military can enter the forest and find the missing members of the royal family."
"In that case I volunteer to lead the expedition."
Commander Hurricane declared with the other council members seeing she was determined to see this mission through since her son was nearly killed in the line of duty and without a second thought Princess Platinum rose from her seat calling out to the other members.
"I second the motion. Those who are in favor may stand now, all others may remain seated."
Soon all the members of the council stood from their seats, each brimming with confidence after finally being given a chance of possibly ending the war after so many years.
"Motion is carried. Commander Hurricane you may prepare your troops."
"I'll be leading the ninth legion. If anypony can handle a mission of this magnitude it's them."
Like Commander Hurricane The Ninth Legion consisted of many veterans of the war and were among the elite of the elites in the Equestrian army and within hours the legion was assembled. Hours before departure a small ceremony was being held in the halls of Canterlot Castle; The wedding for Storm Wind and his beloved Melody was being held with only their closest friends and family as witnesses, Melody was dressed in the traditional bridal robe while Storm Wind wore his armor now polished and repaired.
The ceremony was short but sweet, the vows were said, the priest had given his blessing and the two lovers consummated their marriage with a long deep kiss as everyone cheered with great joy before Melody tossed the bouquet to her bridesmaids while the boys raised their glasses giving their friend a toast of good luck. Soon after the whole of Canterlot gathered to see Commander Hurricane and her Legionaries assembled at the cities main gate carrying the Equestrian banner in the center, the commander stood in front of her soldiers as well as the mob who had gathered to see them off.
"Today we are to march deep into the Everfree Forest! Now I have reports that our enemy has already crossed those borders and have made several encampments there! So make no mistake...they will be waiting for us but they have no idea who or what they are up against!!"
The soldiers gave a short cheer as the commander continued her speech.
"Equestria is a land of peace! Equestria Is a land of hope!! Equestria is a land of light!! And so long as we stand united..."
WE!! ARE!! EQUESTRIAS!!! MIGHT!!!
YAAAHHHHHH!!!!
A thunderous cheering soon filled the city as the crowd joined in while the soldiers rattled their weapons and armor as the horn was sounded giving the order to move out with the commander flying overhead and King Aspen at the front of the legion and all the while Storm Wind watched as the legion soon vanished from sight with his new wife embracing him.
"You wish you could go with them?"
Melody asked as he stroked her hair still gazing on the horizon even as the army vanished.
"Not this time...my part in this war is over...it's time others did the fighting.
The End.

Next Time: The Ninth Legion
A week after departing Canterlot. Commander Hurricane and her troops finally arrived at the edge of the Everfree forest escorted by King Aspen and his elite guard.
"Proceed with caution." Aspen said in a gloomy tone as he gazed on the forest for signs of danger while Commander Hurricane ordered her troops to get in formation before entering the forest and already the soldiers began to feel uneasy hearing the noises from the creatures that dwelled within while Aspen and his men acted like it was a Sunday stroll, continuing to lead the march.
For a while the legion seemed to wander aimlessly through the forest hearing nothing but the sound of birds singing and began to feel as if they were back at home, like the forest felt natural to them even the commander dropped her guard to admire the beauty of this untamed wilderness seeing the sunlight pierce the leaves like a dazzling light show when out of nowhere a familiar eerie howl was heard.
"Timber wolves?"
"I wish...POSITIONS!! "
CLANG!!
In an instant the soldiers divided into separate groups forming a multitude of shield walls while the commander and Aspen listened to the sound of war cries and clanging weapons coming out of the trees.
"Steady!" Commander Hurricane shouted keeping her troops as calm as possible while the noise continued before a strange rumbling was heard.
"STEADY!! " She shouted once more before a large boulder came crashing through scattering the troops as the wargs charged in waving their weapons, snarling wildly and within moments the whole legion was surrounded on all sides.
"HOLD POSITIONS!! HOOLD!!!" Commander Hurricane shouted as she struck down another warg while more and more came pouring out of the forest like a flood while Aspen and his elite guard did their best to thin the enemy ranks, firing arrows in all directions but soon the legion was slowly beginning to fall apart as each formation was broken one by one.
"COMMANDER!! WE'RE BEING SLAUGHTERED!!" Cried one of the soldiers as the commander spotted a path through the trees.
"FALL BAAACK!!!" Leading the retreat into the woods Commander Hurricane lead her troops through a small dirt path through the woods with the wargs giving chase picking the soldiers off one by one until they came to a cliff with only a small battalion left as they heard the enemy coming from all sides.
"Aspen! Go to Canterlot! tell the council what has happened!"
"But-!!"
"JUST GO!!! I'll buy you as much time as I can!"
Seeing there was no time to argue Aspen took his remaining guard through the forest before the wargs slowly crept out of the woods, each of their weapons covered in the blood of their fallen foes while some presented the heads of the fallen soldiers but instead of fear the remaining legionaries became outraged and furious, the commander was no acception.
"Mongrel bastards!! SHIELD WALL!!!!"
YAHHH!!!
In a clamor of steel the soldiers prepared to make their final stand as their enemies slowly moved in before rushing the remaining forces.
Two days had passed as the citizens of Canterlot continued their day while in the upper district a certain soldier had begun to awaken his new wife with a gentle embrace followed by a morning kiss.
"Good morning...my husband." Melody said eyes still closed as she embraced Storm Wind, returning his kiss before both got out of bed to dress themselves.
"My beautiful Melody." Storm Wind said softly as he stroked her hair away from her face seeing her beautiful eyes just as one of the servants came into the room.
"Master Storm Wind. Your breakfast is ready."
Storm Wind nodded in thanks as he escorted Melody to the front porch where they had a quiet breakfast, enjoying each others company before going out for a walk on the streets. Storm Wind had never been happier in his life now that he was married to the mare of his dreams and living peacefully in Canterlot but whenever Melody looked at him she saw only a sad heart and a broken spirit, especially after remembering his near death experience with Gor'Zan.
The memory of that battle remained fresh in Storm Winds mind and he began to recall Gor'Zans taunts as he toyed with him, mocking his deceased father and calling him a "Weak Spawn" of his mother as he began to drift off in his thoughts, clenching his fist in anger before Melody snapped him out of it holding his hand.
"It's alright." She simply said to him, no need for an explanation as they finished their breakfast and headed out into the streets of Canterlot to see what was in the market and just like Stormpike City the streets were bustling with life with vendors calling out to customers while others simply passed by making their way to their homes or meetings for the day when suddenly the guard at the front gate blew the warning horn signaling the other soldiers as the crowd began to worry.
"Something's wrong..." Storm Wind said as he and Melody moved through the crowd, making their way to the front gate to see one of the legionaries from Commander Hurricanes unit badly wounded and out of breath.
"MOVE!! EVERYONE GIVE HIM SOME AIR!!" Called out the guard captain while Storm Wind marched up to the wounded soldier.
"S-Sir Storm Wind! the ninth-AGH!" The soldier cried out from the pain of his wound before some medics finally showed up to take him to the hospital but not before he was able to deliver his message.
"The Ninth legion has fallen!" The soldier cried out as the crowd gasped in horror and began to talk among themselves before being disperesed by the local guard. Hours later Storm Wind and his friends were summoned to a secret council where King Aspen had just arrived still battered from the ambush at Everfree as he explained the situation.
"I don't know how but the wargs were able to track us down...Commander Hurricane is most likely alive, I believe they plan to keep her for ransom"
"They want the map." Princess Platinum declared realizing the gravity of the situation before Chancellor Puddinghead gave a proposal to the council.
"Why not send in a small group to rescue her?"
"Even if we had the troops it would take us days, maybe weeks to find them!"
"Not necessarily you majesty." Aspen declared as all eyes focused on him.
"My people know those woods like the back of our hand. We can find the commander and any remaining troops that live."
Despite his claim the council members still had second thoughts since Commander Hurricane wasn't around but as their discussion continued a loud slam was heard shocking everyone in the room as Storm Wind slowly stood from his seat glaring at all of them in a cold manner.
"Is it REALLY that hard of a decision to make?!? Our soldiers are imprisoned and are probably being tortured or worse!!! and you want to discuss it like it's a difficult decision?!?" Storm Wind shouted at the top of his lungs feeling nothing but outrage as he looked at all the council members before looking King Aspen straight in the eye.
"Lord Aspen. I will join you."
Without a second thought Storm Wind left the council room followed by Aspen leaving the other members bewildered since they thought the only one with such courage and tenacity was Commander Hurricane.
After the events at the council Storm Wind had gone to the barracks to grab what gear he needed before noticing all of his friends and Melody at the entrance.
"What are you guys doing here?"
"You really think we're going to let YOU have all the fun?" Iron Forge asked with a smirk before grabbing some gear of his own with Charm Caster and Archer doing the same and despite his concern a small smirk formed on Storm Winds face knowing he had such loyal friends.
"All set are we?" An elderly voice called as the group gasped seeing Star Swirl standing at the entrance.
"Don't try and stop us Star Swirl." Storm Wind said in a low tone reaching for a spear.
"Stop you? On the contrary my boy....I have something for you if you'll follow me."
Knowing his former teacher would never lie Storm Wind nodded to the others before following the Unicorn mage back to his families home.
"Why'd you bring me here?"
"Because I now know you are ready."
"Ready?"
Before Storm Wind could say anything else Star Swirl pressed a small stone slab on the ground revealing a hidden tunnel beneath the estate as he used the magic from his horn to light the way.
"Follow me." The mage said as Storm Wind did as he was told following the Unicorn down the dark passage before coming to a door lit up with magical runes.
"What is this place?"
"This...is part of your families history." Star Swirl said before reminding Storm Wind of an old legend that was passed down through his family.
Long ago; Before the founding of Cloudsdale the Pegasai were lead by a warrior named Damocles. He was the greatest warrior ever known, during a great battle he was betrayed by his generals and left to die. When Damocles had arrived in the underworld the Goddess of revenge; Nemesis used her power to revive him, using the fire of his hatred to give him life turning him into a great black centurion. The transformation made him faster, stronger....unstoppable and when Damocles had exacted his revenge on his traitorous generals he left his armor proclaiming that only those of his bloodline would don it in times of great need.
"That time....is now." With that being said Star Swirl used his magic to dispel the runes revealing the legendary armor itself. Storm Wind stared in awe at the craftsmanship seeing his reflection before turning back to Star Swirl who seemed to look at him with confidence.
"Take this armor Storm Wind. Become...The Black Centurion."
The End.
Author's Note
Everyone has a dark family history, some darker than others.
Next time: The Black Centurion!!
See ya soon!
The scene with the armor was a small twist from the legend in "Ryse. Son of Rome"
Storm Wind continued to stare at the armor before him, even with its black coating he could see his reflection and could tell that whoever crafted the armor was a master smith but uncertainty still lingered in his heart when he recalled his encounter with Gor'Zan once again until he remembered the terror in the eyes of the ninths last soldier and the fear in his eyes, the horror he must've experienced as he saw his comrades butchered right before his eyes, the screams he heard as he fled for his life while his commander held back the enemy and despite all his vows as a soldier Storm Winds heart burned with vengeance.
Back at the armory the others had just finished assembling their gear when out of nowhere they were spotted by an entire squad of legionares, all heavily armed and ready to move out just as Storm Wind appeared wearing his new armor, holding the helm at his side.
"I only have one question." Storm Wind stated as he drew his sword ready to raise into the air.
"YOU BOYS READY FOR SOME ACTION?!!!"
YAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!
The legionares as well as Storm Winds friends began to cheer as he lead a march towards the gates of Canterlot with many of the citizens watching them and waving goodbye while the local guards saluted their comrades as the gates opened, from atop Canterlot Castle. Princess Platinum as well as the other members watched as the torches carried by the troops began marching down the mountain as the thunder of their march began to fade.
"I hope you know what you're doing Star Swirl." Princess Platinum said as the unicorn mage appeared from the shadows with a smug grin before joining her on the balcony.
"Believe me princess. He is ready." Star Swirl declared as he pulled out his pipe just before the princess snatched it sneering at him in disgust.
"You may be one of the best mages in Equestria but you're still my Grandfather and I WILL NOT have you continue this dreadful habit!" She said as she immediately dumped the tobacco over the side while he stood in shock.
Commander Hurricane began to awake at the sound of what appeared to be laughter and firewood cracking until at last she awoke to find herself tied to a wooden post, wearing nothing but rags and covered in a few scrapes and bruises no doubt from struggling with her captors when out of the corner of her eye she saw Gor'Zan staring at her with a triumphant grin as he walked offering a bowl of water but despite his generous offer Commander Hurricane was well aware of his treachery.
"I assure you it's not poisoned. You're too valuable to kill." He said with a chuckle as she kept an eye on him slowly sipping down the entire bowl until at last her thirst was quenched and she was able to speak clearly before looking him in the eye.
"What are you after?" Commander Hurricane asked despite knowing full well what he was after.
"Why the scroll of course but I can't use you as a bargaining chip while you're in this condition." The commander was surprised at his statement and sense of fairness despite him being a ruthless warlord he was more intelligent than his subordinates as he turned to the warg guarding her.
"No one is to touch her. I want her well fed and UNSPOILED...do I make myself clear?"
"Yes chieftan!"
Commander Hurricane understood what he meant as several of his soldiers looked at her with lust in their eyes, licking their lips with anticipation and despite the noise of the camp the commander could hear their pervesed conversations.
"I hear that female pegasai are more aggressive when in bed!" one warg claimed as he was joined by a few others gulping down some wine.
"I hear they sometimes share a mate and even mate with another mare! Wouldn't that be a site to see? HA HAA!!!" The wargs bursted into laughter while she shrugged in disgust trying to get some sleep as the hour grew late. Meanwhile Storm Wind along with a small battalion of troops had picked up the trail where the ninth legion had been ambushed after meeting up with King Aspens men.
"Hm....It seems they kept the commander alive." A scout of Aspens declared as he picked up the commanders dented helm, from the look of it they must've knocked her out while she was still wearing it or there would've been blood stains, the next sign was one of her sandals no doubt left to mark the trail and after a few hours march they spotted the light of the enemies campfires quickly taking cover.
"Sir why don't we storm in there? catch em off guard?" A capatain asked Storm Wind crawling next to him as the young soldier scanned the are for any scouts.
"Caution. We can't rush in blindly without endangering the commander....there on the cliff. Post our archers their and stay out of sight." Storm Wind pointed out a cliff just above the camp, perfect for unleashing a surprise artillery strike.
"Yes sir!" The captain quickly rallied all the archers in the unit and stealthily made their way to the cliff side while Archer signaled the others pointing to what looked like the chieftans tent and next to it was the commander herself tied to a wooden post and surrounded by a ring of spikes.
"There's our target....Archer pick off the look outs surrounding the camp, Iron Forge and Charm Caster you're with me. The rest of you are under Archers command until we get back." Seeing some of the soldiers nod in agreement the small group dashed for the camp as Archer began picking off the lookouts one by one with amazing accuracy while back in the camp the commander was sound asleep until she felt something crawl up her leg.
"MMPH!!" She awoke to find the warg the was suppose to be guarding her now making an advance on her as he took out a small knife slowly moving it towards her throat.
"Scream and it'll be the last thing you ever do." The guard said in a sadistic tone as he slowly moved his hand away from her mouth while she closed her eyes just as he began to quietly rip open her top panting like a lunatic and slowly she began to sob in shame. One of the greatest fighters in Equestria and a member of the high council was about to be raped by her enemy or so she thought as she heard a loud shink followed by the sound of the guard choking.
"Hands off...." Storm Wind had stabbed the guard right in his spine as he wrapped his arm around the throat before slowly setting him down on the ground and cutting his mother free while she stood there in shock before embracing her son with tears of joy.
"I knew you'd find your strength again..." The commanders voice had a sense of relief and pride as she gently tightened her hug before Storm Wind helped her to her feet but as he did so the commander saw something different in his eyes, almost like a fire had been lit inside.
"Let's get you out of here." Storm Wind quickly lead her away from the chieftans tent with Iron Forge and Charm Caster waiting and just when things began to look up a guard who had been recovering from a drunken sleep spotted the intruders escaping with their prisoner and quickly sounded the alarm waking the whole camp.
"BUCK!!" Iron Forge shouted as he saw enemies coming from all sides. Snarling and growling surrounded them as the enemy closed around them but as they closed in Storm Wind nodded to Charm Caster before she put up a small magic bubble around them while a flurry of arrows came raining down from the night sky slaughtering a great deal of the enemy troops.
"GO GO GO!!!" Commander Hurricane yelled over the death cries as they made a run for it but Storm Wind could see that there were too many to outrun and as they neared the exit he turned facing the enemy with his spear at the ready.
"Storm what're you doing?!?" Charm Caster asked as she turned back.
"I'll hold them off! Get the commander back to Canterlot!"
"But you can't-!!"
"GO!!!!" Charm Caster could sense much rage in her friends voice as she saw a feint red glow in his eyes but with no time to wonder what was happening she rejoined the commander and Iron Forge while Storm Wind prepared for what could very well be his final stand.
"Who dies first?...."
Within moments Storm Wind found himself outnumbered and surrounded, he fought to the point where his body could barely stand but began to feel a burning sensation in his heart and in the heat of battle.
AAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
Storm Winds eyes became filled with a blood red light and his armor began to emit a black mist; It was an ancient curse that had long afflicted the warriors of the Pegasus tribe. The Curse of Bloodlust.
Now blinded by his rage Storm Wind began lashing out at anything that dared to come near him, even as his foes began to flee for their lives but he would not let them escape.
"YOU WILL ALL DIE!!!" he shouted in a bloodcurdling scream as he took flight cutting off any chance of escape while from a safe distance the soldiers cheered him on watching the massacre but what the commander saw wasn't a soldier in battle but a beast on a rampage as her son continued the onslaught vanquishing the last of them with nostrils flaring and his breath steaming from the exhaustion.
Once he had calmed down Storm Wind looked to see the bodies of his slain foes but instead of pride he felt horror. Many of the bodies had been butchered beyond recognition and most had either missing limbs or heads, despite the fact that they were enemies Storm Wind believed in fighting with honor but instead he lashed out like a mad beast, even as the soldiers ran up to congratulate him he felt nothing but emptiness; For him this was a hollow victory.
After three days of waiting news had spread that Stormwind and his troops had successfully rescued Commander Hurricane, the city was in an uproar as Princess Platinum prepared the citizens for a welcoming ceremony for the returning champions with the help of Chancellor Pudding Head while back at the forest the soldiers had begun moving out with Charm Caster leading the way while Stormwind looked after his mother in a small wagon.
Commander Hurricane had been beaten and whipped while being interrogated and was nearly raped had it not been for her son coming to her rescue, as she laid there in her bed she could not help but remember the horror she had witnessed after seeing her son turn into a full blown berserker, it had been many generations since one had been seen ever since Damocles but what troubled her more is that her son now wore his armor.
Moments after arriving in Canterlot the soldiers were welcomed back with open arms by the citizens, many of them families who had been waiting for their fathers to come home as foals came rushing out of the crowds to be greeted by the arms of the returning heroes.
"DADDY!!"
A filly cried out with tears of joy as she ran into the open arms of her father followed by her mother who greeted her husband with a kiss. Seeing this filled Stormwinds heart with relief since he knew what it was like to lose a father and after he had dismissed his men to join in the celebration and return to their families his mind returned to his recent battle and the strange sensation he had felt shortly after he had donned the armor of his ancestor.
The End."

With the recovery of Commander Hurricane and the massive defeat dealt to the wargs in everfree forest all of Equestria began to feel safe, all but the commander who had witnessed her only son turn into a bloodthirsty monster and was starting to grow concerned as to how the war would affect him.
Storm Wind just sat silent and still, even as they neared the city gates, being showered with flower petals. Spring Breeze was more than happy to see her husband return as she greeted him with a welcome home kiss. He smiled only for a moment as he embraced his wife before making his way back to their home in silence, leaving everypony concerned.
"RRRRAGH!!!!"
Storm Wind threw a goblet across the garden in a rage. Recalling the rampage he unleashed back at the campsite, grabbing his head in frustration.
"WHAT IN TARTARUS IS GOING ON HERE?!?"
The now enraged Pegasus yelled at the top of his lungs just as Spring Breeze came onto the scene. Though frightened the mare approached her husband as he sat there holding his head in confusion.
"Storm Wind?" The sound of her voice and her gentle touch was all she needed the quell his rage. The surprised pegasus looked up to see his wife giving a gentle smile before helping him to their bed chambers knowing he needed the rest, especially after drinking so much wine. As the mare laid her weary husband on the bed a small tear fell from her face. She hated to see him so angry and confused after the incident at the camp.
"Spring Breeze?"
The mare gasped to see him awake so quickly and tried to wipe the tears from her face but it was too late. The young mares hand was gently grabbed by her husband who seemed ashamed for putting her in this state.
"Storm Wind what're you-MM!" Her voice was cut off by the feeling of his lips pressing against hers, clearly this was his way of apologizing for making her worry and her tears soon faded. Their kiss however was all she would get as Storm Wind drifted off to sleep but she was fine with that knowing he still cared for her, once he had settled down Spring Breeze decided to go see the one pony who could give her answers; Commander Hurricane.
As dawn rose the next day the commander sat in her chambers signing away the daily paperwork until her ink well ran dry. Once the daily documents and complaints had been taken care of the mare decided to step outside for some fresh air but to her surprise she found Spring Breeze waiting for her at the front gate of her villa.
"Spring Breeze! This is a surprise what brings you here?"
"It's um..." The young pegasus mare shied away for a moment knowing what she was about to bring up was a delicate subject.
"It's about Storm Wind."
"....I see."
Later that afternoon. A small picnic had been arranged for the two mares as they sat in the villa gardens with two guards keeping watch.
"Now tell me Spring Breeze. What do you wish to know?" The commander asked her daughter-in-law, folding her hands together.
"Where did this all start? Why does Gor'Zan hate your family so much?"
The commander gave a sigh of relief, like she had been expecting this question for some time.
"I think I should start...at the beginning."
At the borders of Northern Equestria was a small village that had been raided by the wargs. Among the flaming ruins was a female soldier who had been badly wounded in the fighting, her armor had been rent and both her wings had been badly broken. The wargs gazed at her hungrily, seeing the figure of the mare pegasai but before the first could lay his hands on her their chieftan stopped him cold.
"No. This one we leave unspoiled."
"According to our laws: None may deny me the spoils of our conquest!" The soldier argued just before the chief cleaved his head clean off his shoulders. Many of the others backed away in fear of the chieftans blade as well as his skill and before long the mare was taken prisoner, back to their stronghold in the mountains. After arriving the chief visited the mare in her cell to check on her recovery as well as give her food and drink.
As her wings began to heal the chieftan ordered her to be moved to his chambers, many of his men thought that he would have "First Taste" before handing her over. Instead he gave her a bed and a fresh set of clothes to keep her warm.
"Why are you helping me?" The mare asked as she turned to the warg before her.
"There is no honor in tormenting a defeated warrior, especially a women." He said in reply as the mare smirked before her turned around. Allowing her to change.
"My name is Gor'Zan. What is yours?"
"....Last Stand."
By her name alone he could tell she must've been the daughter of a noble and must've been in the battle to defend her lands by order of her parents. Over the course of months that followed Last Stand was treated as if she was one of their own and began to see a different side of her so called "Enemies" , when she looked around she saw children at play, husbands and wives working together around the fort and even soldiers caring for their wounded comrades. They were not the savages they seemed to be and in time she became something of a friend to Gor'Zan who despite his brutish attitude seemed truly kind at heart.
One year later the whole fortress was abuzz with excitement but Gor'Zan was feeling nervous. He stood just outside of a small room hearing the muffled screams of Last Stand, as a the hours past one of the maids finally allowed him and there he saw his new wife holding their newborn child.
"Hello dear."
Last stand had fallen for the warg chieftan and soon came to be his wife. As she handed him their newborn, Gor'Zan felt like this was a blessing from his ancestors; Never before had a child been conceived of both pony and warg, as he lifted the sheets he found himself staring at a little foal who by all appearances seemed normal save for the single fang sticking out from his mouth.
"Say "hello" to daddy Dirk."
"Dirk?" The name of the child made the warg chuckle and surprisingly the baby too.
"Well he's gotta have a name doesn't he? plus it's the name of a weapon! perfect for our little warrior here."
The family joined in a cuddle as both Gor'Zan and last stand looked at their newborn foal, it seemed things would remain peaceful but one day everything changed. Gor'Zan and a hunting party had just returned from the everfree forest and upon their return they heard the cries of terror and smell of smoke filled the air. The stronghold was under attack!!
"TO THE FORTRESS!!! QUICKLY!!!"
Gor'Zan and his men ran as fast as their feet could carry them, dropping their camping equipment and drawing their weapons as they joined the fight. They had come under attack from a group of Pegasai baring the same symbol that Last Stand once bore, while the rest of the fort was in chaos the chieftan ran inside to get his wife and child to safety. As he came upon their room he heard the sound of arguing and the baby crying. There was someone in there with last stand.
"NOOO!!!!" The mare screamed at the top of her lungs as her husband came bursting into the room. Gor'Zans eyes became filled with horror as a blade pierced his wifes chest while she stood her ground in front of the babies crib. The one who had stabbed her wore a helmet with a visor, hiding his face and as he drew the blade from the slain mare they mysterious murderer turned his gaze upon the helpless infant crying for his parents.
"This abomination has no place in the world!" The soldier spoke coldly as he turned his blade into a stabbing position over the baby.
"NOOO!!!" Gor'Zan tackled the would be murderer away from his son. His eyes now flaring with pure rage.
"YOU WILL NOT TAKE MY SON FROM ME!!!" He roared in fury as a fight broke out. The two seemed to match each other move for move until with one lucky stroke Gor'Zan shattered his opponents blade, forcing him to flee. Despite every fiber in his being urging him to give chase the chieftan threw his sword aside and ran to his wife now lying in a pool of her own blood.
From the look alone he could tell that she had already passed on. Gor'Zan held her hand one last time before taking his child from the crib, the baby instantly calmed down as it giggled seeing his father before him. Dirk was the only thing Gor'Zan had left now and the only thing else that mattered now was getting revenge on the one who was responsible.
"Sir! we found something!" One of the soldiers called out as he handed him the shattered blade, on it was the name of the assailant who was responsible for his wifes death.
Stout Heart.
The End.

After a long days march the scouting party was soon within reach of the fortress and already they could tell something was amiss. Crows circled above cawing loudly while smoke rose from within the walls, the commander ordered his men to ready their weapons as they neared the shattered gate of the fort and what they saw horrified them.
Bodies of pony and warg were scattered across the courtyard and the smell of death hung in the air, by the look of things the attack happened not too long ago before their outpost was raided, many of the corpses were either missing limbs or had their guts spilled on the floor.
Some of the soldiers began puking just from the smell while others trembled seeing the carnage that had happened here when suddenly a crash was heard coming from within the storage room near the south gate.
"Iron Forge check it out, Archer go with him."
The commander ordered in a silent tone so as not to give away their presence.
The two slowly made their way to the storage room and heard a faint rustling coming from within, giving a quick nod to each other both quickly stormed into the room weapons at the ready but to their surprise what they found was a female pegasus with a wound on her arm trembling in fright
She had a gentle look about her and they could tell she was a medical pony judging by the way she patched herself up and the fact that she was carrying a bag with a big red cross on her side.
"WE HAVE A SURVIVOR!!"
Shouted Archer as the others came rushing over to see her. The commander was first to approach her offering a flask of water and without hesitation she grabbed it chugging down every drop before gasping for air finally calming down handing the empty flask back.
"Easy soldier. What's your name?"
"My...my name is Melody."
The commander was surprised upon hearing her name for she was the daughter of one of Commander Hurricanes most loyal troops; former Private Pansy.
Once she settled down Melody explained that during the night a large pack of warg troops stormed the fortress catching them off guard and slaughtering everyone but her, they tried to send dispatches for reinforcements but were cut off and she also recalled hearing a deafening roar followed by a horrid smell before the fighting stopped.
"Stormwind. Take the rest of the men and begin burning the bodies, salvage what weapons and armor you can."
"Yes sir."
Though it seemed heartless there was no time to give the bodies a proper burial, not without exposing the others to disease. Funeral pyres were soon lit across the courtyard even for the enemy and Melody being the gentle soul she is offered a prayer to her fallen comrades while Storm Wind bowed his head in respect.
Once things had quieted down repairs were soon made and the salvaged supplies were all accounted for which was strange since it was clear the enemy had won the battle here, Storm Wind and his friends noticed this as well. Fresh weapons along with food and water were among the cargo.
"They weren't here for supplies...they were looking for something. Search the rest of the fort!"
The soldiers did as Storm Wind commanded but found nothing so far aside from a few more corpses in the halls when suddenly Storm Wind came upon a sacked record room with a slain unicorn who by the look of him was the clerk and clutched in his grip was a lock box key and among the ransacked debris was a single box obviously hidden before the clerk was killed.
Growing curious the young stallion grabbed the box, opening it with the key he found and in it was a single scroll with a seal that had not been seen in ages; The Seal of The Royal Alicorns.
The Alicorns were once the sovereign rulers of all Equestria but were believed to be wiped out during the war against the forces of chaos centuries ago, breaking the seal Storm Wind examined the scroll of the ancient bloodline and discovered it had a special enchantment upon it showing which members of the family were deceased and which were still alive and to no surprise many were indeed long passed but as Storm Wind read further and further down the bloodline he discovered something that shocked him to his core.
"By the ancestors...COMMANDER!!! COMMANDER!!!"
Shouted Storm Wind as he rushed through the halls holding the scroll tight in his grip until at last he found the commander still in the courtyard overlooking the repairs.
"(pants heavily) Commander!"
"Steady man! what is it? You look like you seen a ghost."
Stated the commander looking at the young soldier like he had gone mad, as Storm Wind caught his breath he handed the commander the scroll showing him where he left off and just like him the commander became shocked at what he was seeing. Out of the entire bloodline only two Alicorn children remained but their location was unknown, before he could say anything more a horn call was sounded followed by the roar Melody had mentioned earlier.
"Oh Tartarus..."
"Commander what is it?"
"TROOOLLLL!!!!"
A large troll came smashing through the wall with a group of Thirty wargs behind him, after seeing the previous carnage there was no dboubt that this was the creature who caused it. A handful of soldiers came charging at the beast only to be smashed into the ground by its club before Archer shot an arrow in its eye grabbing the trolls attention.
"STORM WIND! HELP ARCHER WITH THAT TROLL!! IRON FORGE YOU'RE WITH ME! We have to hold the courtyard!"
"YES SIR!!"
Using his flight capabilities Storm Wind buzzed around the troll cutting it where he could with his spear but the hide of the beast was tougher than stone on the back and it was too dangerous to attack from the front save for Archer shooting from a safe distance while in the courtyard Iron Forge made good use of his axe taking down line after line of the enemy with each swing, even cutting through their shields and armor.
"COME ON BIG BOY!!"
Storm Wind shouted at the troll taunting it so as to keep his focus on him and off Archer until at last the wargs were dealt with leaving the rest of the troops to join in the fight and in the heat of battle Archer spotted a coil of rope tossing it to the commander and Iron Forge while the others encircled the troll.
"When I give the signal pull! Iron Forge! try to push him back!"
Iron Forge did as the commander instructed and began driving the troll back with each strike while the soldiers tied the rope under its ankles narrowly escaping the swing of its club.
"NOW!!"
"AAAAAGH!!!!"
Storm Wind charged in as the troll was tripped up by the ropes tied to its feet plunging his spear right into its skull, killing it on the spot as the soldiers cheered seeing the vanquished beast. The three friends nodded to each other as Storm Wind yanked his spear out of the creatures skull.
A party was soon held in honor of their killing of the troll while the wounded were tended to by Melody with some of the troops actually trying to hit on her, all but the commander partook in the celebration as he examined the scroll given to him by Storm Wind before calling him over.
"(sits down)You wanted to see me sir?"
The commander said nothing as he chugged down some cider before rolling up the scroll and handing it back to him.
"You must take this scroll back to Canterlot and find Clover the Clever. She will know what to do."
"Understood sir. When do I leave?"
"Dawn. But you must be quick I fear the enemy may know of our discovery."
The commander unfortunately was right for while they celebrated a warg who escaped from the battle had just arrived to a ruined fort with campsites all over and in the center stood a large tent for the leader; Gor'Zan himself.
The warg entered hesitantly as the guards pushed him in to see his master feasting on some meat looking rather displeased.
"The scroll master...we lost it."
Gor'Zan growled in an annoyed manner glaring at the smaller warg before him as he continued to eat his meal before asking a question as he walked up slowly.
"Tell me? how is it...that a handful of my best warriors along with a troll....WERE BESTED BY A FEW EQUESTRIAN RATS?!?"
In a fit of rage Gor'Zan grabbed the kneeling warg looking rather excited as he slowly crushed his throat hearing him gasp for breath while his legs kicked in the air.
"PLEASE!! (gasps for air) It was a Pegasus who interfered!!"
"A pegasus?"
The chieftan grew curious as he released his grip, allowing his minion to speak further before he sat down again.
"Yes. A young warrior! he was donned in black armor, not like the rest."
A smile suddenly grew on the warg chieftans face knowing full well you the young warrior was before giving a short laugh.
"So Commander Hurricane had a son did she? Send out word to the other clans! There is a price on his head!"
Soon messengers began pouring out in every direction to the other clans while back at the fort Storm Wind took his friends and their new companion Melody with him to return to the border outpost while the others awaited reinforcements and in his saddlebag was not only a treasure of the past but perhaps the one thing that could determine the outcome of the war.
The End.
