Chapters Author's Note
There's going to be many differences from the show, so please, try to bare with me on some of these things.
You're here!!!
Out on Canterlot's many fields, a light yellow unicorn with a scarlet mane that had purple stripes and wore black glasses was preparing herself a party. This was Moondancer. A table was set up with pies, cakes, candy, and fruit, all ready for the party. Coming to this party were three other unicorn mares; a blue coated unicorn who's mane looked like toothpaste (named Minuette), a yellow one with a blue, poofy mane (Lemon Hearts), and a matching cream colored one with a pink mane (Twinkleshine). All three had a gift for Moondancer, for this was not only her birthday, but it also the day she finally came out of her shell.
"Hey Moondancer!" Minuette greeted "Look at this spread, huh!?"
"Thank you so much for coming!" Moondancer replied in excitement
"Of course." Twinkleshine spoke, placing her gift on the table "We wouldn't miss one of our best friends' parties."
"Is Twilight coming?" The three stayed silent and looked around. Earlier, Twilight Sparkle told the three that she had a lot of studying to do, despite being Celestia's top student. "Oh... okay."
"Hey, we'll still have fun, right?" Minuette said with a nervous chuckle.
"Sure." Moondencer took some steps and was about to leave to her house.
"Moondancer!!!" Twilight's voice spoke "Wait!!!" Moondancer's ears perked and she turned around.
"Twilight!?" Sure enough, a purple unicorn with a darker mane with a magenta stripe came down with her baby purple & green dragon, Spike, holding her present. She panted as she reached to the party.
"Sorry for being late, I had to-" Moondancer squeed as she ran and tackled Twilight, hugging her while Spike fell to the floor.
"You're here!!! You're-here-you're-here-you're-here!!!"
"Uh... I am here."
"Twilight?" Lemon Hearts asked "I though you had a lot of catching up to do?"
"I... well I kinda did, but I figured it was silly."
"What's silly?" Twinkleshine asked
"Oh, something about the return of Nightmare Moon after a thousand years and coming back to bring eternal darkness and how I wanted to warn Celestia about it."
"...That is Silly." Minuette commented.
"Thank you for coming, Twilight!" Moondancer continued her hugging "I am the happiest mare alive!"
"...Why?" Twilight asked Moondancer gasped and released Twilight.
"'Why'!? Twilight, don't you remember? Today's my birthday!!!"
"...Oh! Uh... well... my bad... I'm sorry for not remembering, but-"
"Our two eggheads are here!?" Another mare's voice asked, interrupting Twilight "Sweet! This party is now awesome!" Coming from down a hill was a mint-green with a mane similar to Minuette's (Lyra Heartstrings).
"Lyra?" Moondancer asked "I thought you were on your way to Ponyville for the Summer Sunset Celebration?"
"I was, but that's not until later. I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday, Moondancer. And I see Twilight Sparkle is here. Laying off those books, Twi?" Twilight grunted to herself
"No," she replied "I am not. I just came to wish Moondancer a happy birthday because some dragon was able to guilt trip me into going!" Turning, Spike was gorging himself onto a piece of pie. He looked up, gave an awkward stare to everyone, then swallowed.
"It beats having to find books and send letters." He simply commented, taking a gift with a hole in it. "And here's your gift, Moondancer. I had a little accident, as you can see."
"Oh, it's okay, Spike." Moondancer replied "You know it's my birthday, right?"
"Absolutely! I keep everyone's info on some note and give them to Twilight to memorize them." Twilight blushed, looked around, and whistled while walking away, failing miserably to look inconspicuous.
"Typical Twilight." Lyra commented. "Hey! Did you see the new portal spell I'm trying to make? If I'm lucky enough, I can summon a real human!"
"Again with the humans." Moondancer commented dryly.
Inside Canterlot's castle, Celestia sat in her throne room, though looking bored as she leaned on her right forehoof with her chin. She levitated a piece of cake next to her, enjoying it's taste of banana cream, but did her best to stay awake. The door opened and Shining Armor, captain of the royal guard and Twilight's older brother, came in.
"You wanted to see me?" He asked. Celestia snored awake and sat upright, doing her best to look professional.
"I-uh-yes! Shining Armor, isn't it?"
"That's me. You wanted to know about my little sister?"
"Yes, I did." she stood up and walked to her captain. "You know your little sister well, right?"
"I do, your majesty."
"What was the last thing she talked to you about?"
"Hm... she rambled a bit about something involving the Mare in the Moon, Nightmare Moon, and the elements of harmony, but other than that, she asked me about my life here."
"Yes... tell me, did she try sending me letter about any of those things?"
"...My life?"
"Nonono, I mean the Mare in the moon, Nightmare Moon, the elements of Harmony, or anything like those?"
"Uh... I can't really answer that. I don't watch her all day, everyday. Is there something wrong?"
"You can say that. I'm about to head to Ponyville for the summer sunset celebration and I want Twilight to make sure everything goes smooth over there. Do you know where she is?"
"Oh! I got a letter from Spike telling me that if I have the time, I should join them at Moondancer's party. That's so sweet! My little sister going to-" he stopped as Celestia's pupils shrunk and her left eye twitched. "Uh... your majesty? Is... there something wrong?"
"...This is bad. So very bad!!!"
The best-and worst-birthday ever
The party went as Moondancer had hoped for: All of her friends were there, even if Twilight was awkward & tried her hardest to remember everypony's name, but it was fun, nonetheless. The real exciting part was when Moondancer opened her gifts.
"Which one should I open first!?" Moondancer asked, hopping excitedly
"Open mine!" Minuette spoke "You're going to love mine!" Moondancer held up a blue box with her magic and shook it, listening to it and taking a guess what was inside. She opened the package and took out a black sweater with pink buttons on it. "You told me how much you loved going to the library but hate the cold in there. I hope this helps."
"This is perfect! Thanks!"
"Well put it on!" Twinkleshine spoke "Then open mine!" Moondancer took off her glasses and put on the sweater. She was in bliss as she put it on.
"~So~... ~comfortable~."
"...Moondancer?" She shook out of her bliss.
"Oh! Sorry." she blushed as she opened Twinkleshine's gift: a new pair of glasses.
"Your glasses are pretty beat and you need a new pair." Moondancer took off her glasses and placed the new one on. she looked around, gasping.
"I can see much better! This is really helpful!"
"Open mine!" Lyra suggested "You're going to love it!"
"Ten bits says it's a human thing." Spike whispered to Twilight. Moondancer opened the gift and pulled out a drawing of all of them as weird creatures .
"...Uh... thanks?" Moondancer spoke.
"It's my predictions of all of us as humans!" Lyra replied "One of us will see them, I'm certain of it."
"...I think this will help." Lemonhearts said. Moondancer opened her gift but gasped. She held up a golden ticket.
"I-is this what I think it is?" Moondancer stammered
"...A golden ticket?" Spike asked
"That's not just a ticket!" Twilight gasped "That's a ticket to-"
"THE GRAND GALLOPING GALA!!!" Everypony cheered at the same time.
"And I don't want you to go alone," Lemonhearts continued "because I brought six more!"
"Six more!?" The crowd shouted in shock. Lemonhearts nodded with a smirk, pulling more tickets out and handed them all a ticket, including Spike.
"How did you get these tickets!?" Twilight asked
"I work in the Canterlot palace, remember?"
"...Oh... you did. Um-"
"Here, Moondancer." Spike spoke, walking to her with his & Twilight's busted present "the box is jacked up, but your gift is intact." Moondancer opened the gift & help up a portrait of all of them sitting together. She stared at the picture for a moment, but smiled and teared up.
"It's perfect." She gave Spike a warm hug. "This has been the best birthday ever! I'm so glad I have friends like all of you, especially you, Twilight!"
"Me!?" She asked. Moondancer released Spike and gave Twilight a hug.
"Of course! You're practically like the big sister I've always wanted!"
"... I didn't-!"
"Twilight Sparkle!!! " Celestia's voice boomed. Moondancer screamed and released Twilight. Down from the sky, flapping her powerful wings, was Princess Celestia herself! She landed roughly on the floor and ran to Twilight. "Twilight! Why aren't you in Ponyville right now!? You're suppose to be making friends!"
"Princess!" Twilight hastily bowed to her mentor "I-I never got any letter from you! Was I suppose to be doing that? I'm so sorry if-"
"Hold on a second!" Minuette interrupted "Twilight's our friend! Doesn't that count at all?"
"I'm sorry Minuette," Celestia answered "but this is different. Twilight needs to leave you all to-"
"She had to leave us!?" Moondancer asked, tearing up "S-so you wanted Twilight to leave my most important day ever!?"
"I'm sorry, Moondancer, but the fate of many is more important than-"
"Hey!" Twinkeshine interrupted, holding Moondancer in a hug "That is SO messed up, even for you, Princess!"
"Yeah!" Lrya added "Twilight has friends right now, but you're telling us that she has to leave us and make new friends because you want her to!?"
"It's nothing like that!" Celestia answered "The fate of Equestria lies in her-"
"BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" A loud cackle stopped them. The warm daylight of Celestia's sun was quickly replaced by the cool night sky of the full moon. Celestia dropped her student and looked around in fear.
"What's happening!?" Twilight asked in panic. "Celestia! What's going on!?" Her answer came when the silhouette of another Alicorn landed right behind the group. The alicorn wore dark blue armor, matching it's nearly invisible mane & tail It's eyes opened, revealing it's pupils were slit like those of a cat, and that it's coat was black.
"Oh no." Celestia spoke, taking steps back & trembling in fear.
"It's been a long time, sister," the Alicorn spoke, showing it's razor sharp teeth. "Surprised that I'm here?"
"No... I thought you'd arrive late."
"Well you thought wrong." Her horn glowed blue and six balls of stone floated around her.
"What!? How did you-!?"
"Let's see how you like it in the sun!!!" She fired a beam from her horn, blasting Celestia away! The six mares only wtched in shock as Celestia was easily defeated & gone. They turned to the Alicorn who stood victorious. "Let this be a lesson for you ponies: The nighttime will last forever!!! BWAHAHAHAHA!!!" She flapped her wings and headed towards Canterlot's castle. The sic stood and stared with their mouths open.
"What... just happened?" Twinkleshine asked.
"I... think I have an explanation for this." Twilight answered.
"This has got to be the worst birthday ever." Moondancer commented to herself.
"Call me crazy," Spike retorted "but this may be my fault."
Author's Note
Going in with the Alternate Universe thing. I decided to let Nightmare Moon out a couple of hours early. If nothing goes exactly as planned, then why not change other things as well?
Moondancer & the others followed and entered Twilight's house. They, though mostly Moondancer, oohed at the inside, which was filled to the brim with books, though there weren't as many as the library. Twilight ran up the stairs and brought the table from the kitchen, followed picking up some books on said table.
"Alright," Twilight spoke as the rest gathered around the table "according to these books, it's stated that a thousand years ago, Princess Celestia wasn't the only ruler, but ruled alongside with her sister, Princess Luna."
"Princess Luna?" Twinkleshine asked
"I've heard about her." Lemon Hearts replied "Sometimes, whenever I pass by Celestia's room, she's talking to herself and apologizing to somepony named Luna."
"What did she say?" Minnuete asked
"I didn't pay much attention, but I actually heard her sing what sounded like a lullaby last night. I couldn't hear it all, but Celestia sounded really sad, almost as if... wait! Did she knew about this all along!?"
"Is that why she needed you to go to Ponyville?" Lyra asked
"I don't know!" Twilight retorted "I've never seen Celestia panicking before! Heck, when I was enrolled and had a magical surge that made Spike into a giant dinosaur & my parents into plants, Celestia calmly approached me instead of running and screaming."
"...So she hoped you'd leave for the Summer Sun set celebration instead of celebrating my birthday?" Moondancer asked
"I don't think so. In fact, I was about to send her a letter regarding Nightmare Moon's return."
"That other Alicorn was Nightmare Moon?" Twinkleshine asked
"Yes, but more importantly, it's Luna."
"What!?"
"Getting back to the subject; While the two sister ruled the land, Luna watched as everypony played & flourished in Celestia's light while they slept through her beautiful nights. Tired of being ignored, Luna turned herself into Nightmare Moon, but was banished to the moon by Celestia using the Elements of harmony."
"Elements of Harmony?" Moondancer asked "I've heard about them!"
"Really?"
"They're in the children's section in the library."
"And how do you know that?" Lyra asked. Moondancer froze and looked around, her cheeks blushing.
"Uh... research."
"~Sure~." Moondancer shook her head and cleared her throat.
"Anyways, the elements are, as I can remember, are Laughter, loyalty, honesty, generosity, and kindness."
"Sounds easy enough." Lemon Hearts commented
"It would, but we saw Nightmare Moon using SIX of those things! I'm just wondering what the sixth is, but more importantly, HOW is she using them!?" Everypony looked around in confusion. Twilight lifted some books and quickly skimmed through them.
"I have no clue." Twilight spoke, placing the books back onto the table. She groaned and placed her head on the table "I kinda wished I actually sent that letter now."
"...We know you were guilt tripped by Spike," Lemon Hearts replied "but why didn't you send her the letter while going to Moondancer's party?"
"Eh, again, Spike told me that I was sounding like those stallions that yelled 'it's the the end of the world!' last year." They turned their attention to Spike.
"What!?" the baby Dragon asked "If you were in my spot, you'd do the same thing, right?" The ponies grumbled to themselves in agreement.
"...Maybe she's not inherently evil." Twinkleshine spoke. Everypony looked at her with confusion "I mean, she's still Luna, right? She was just mad at her sister and probably felt lonely. Technology had advanced, so if we can show her the changes that will appeal to her, then she may just listen to us and let Celestia come back. Sounds like a good plan, right?" They looked at each other and murmured.
"Maybe," Minuette spoke "I'm certain she isn't inherently evil either, but I don't think she's going to listen to all of us."
"She only needs one of us to do it! And we already know who." Twinkleshine pointed at Lemon Hearts and everypony stared at her. Lemon Hearts looked around, realizing what Twinkleshine meant.
"Oh no!" she retorted "There is no way I'm going to Nightmare Moon and show her how we've changed!"
"You won't be alone," Twilight said "because I'll be there with you."
"Oh thank Celestia! Now I won't-"
"I'll talk to Nightmare Moon myself and you look for the Elements of Harmony."
"But I thought we were-" Twinkleshine spoke
"Your idea sounds pretty good, but if it fails, we need a plan B. When Lemon Hearts finds the elements, we're going to take it away from Nightmare Moon and hide here. I'll look for something that will spark the elements again, blasting Nightmare Moon again and send her back to the moon."
"But how do we know if the elements will blast Nightmare Moon to the moon again?" Lyra asked "And what about Celestia?"
"... I'm not sure, Lyra, but I will do whatever I can to bring Celestia back. If all else fails, then somepony may need to be in power soon, or else Equestria will fall into chaos."
"Let's just hope everything will go right," Moondancer spoke "or else this will TRULY be the worst birthday ever."
"And I'm here to help!" Spike announced, puffing his chest to look bigger "Just tell me what to do and I'll do it! Anything to save Equestria from eternal darkness!"
"...There is one thing you can do." Twilight replied
"Tell me and I'll do it!"
"Go to bed." Spike frowned at it.
"Aw, but Twilight-"
"I'm sorry, Spike, but this is dangerous and it's almost past your bedtime."
"Twilight, it's only 5."
"I got this." Moondancer spoke. Her horn glowed and a spell was casted around Spike's face. He yawned and he started to grumble.
"I'm... not... tired..." He fell onto the floor and snored.
"That should do. What do you want the rest of us to do, Twilight?" Twilight stared at the four.
"... I think I have something," she spoke "Moondancer, you find the spell needed to use the elements of Harmony."
"There's a library inside the Canterlot castle that may have it." Lemon Hearts spoke "She may need to come with me to access it, though."
"Good. And the rest of you three... I got nothing."
"Aw!" Lyra complained "Not even a little thing?"
"If it involves Humans, that won't help." Minuette commented
"Hey!"
"We can help." Twinkleshine spoke "I'm sure I-
"Just make sure Spike is safe, okay?" Twilight interrupted. The three groaned.
"Yes ma'am." They spoke in unison.
"Good. Let's do this! Lead the way, Lemon Hearts!"
"Just follow me." Lemon Hearts spoke, leading the three out. As soon as the door closed, Twinkleshine placed the snoring Spike back into his basket.
"Too bad for them," Minuette spoke with a smirk "we never Pinkie promised."
"...What are you getting to?" Twinkeshine and Lyra asked
"Easy as this; Lyra, do you still have your Lyre?"
"I always carry it with me." Lyra answered
"Good, and Twinkleshine, you still have your singing voice?"
"It's still with me." Twinkelshine answered "But what are you doing?"
"Twilight still needs our help. Plus, have you seen Nightmare Moon's teeth!? She needs somepony to help her with that! Somepony who's also a dentist." The two's pupils shrunk.
"Oh no!" Lyra yelled "You're not going to use... her!?"
"I'm always afraid of that accent!" Twinkleshine whimpered.
Nightmare Moon sat in the throne room as the batponies cheered for the return of their princess.
"Yes, my children of the night," she spoke "your princess of the night has returned, and the reign of Celestia has ended!" More cheering. "These ponies will soon learn that there's nothing to fear from the dark, but only to fear the one causing darkness! Such as these pitiful ones that stood up for their 'leader'!" Falling from the roofs & dangling on chains were Canterlot soldiers, still in their golden armor and cramped together.
"You'll never get away with this!" Shining Armor spoke from one of the cages "Somepony's going to stop you!"
"Ha! That'll be the same day that one of you feels comfortable in your cage!"
"...I'm comfortable!" A lone guard shouted.
"Uh... except him! He's... an earth pony! You need to be a unicorn or a pegasus!"
"That's racist!" Another yelled
"I'd say it's rather species-ist." Another spoke "Doesn't that go with a human thing?"
"You've been hanging out with Lyra again, haven't you!?" Another asked
"Shut up! She's cute!"
"Cute, but dumb."
"Just like you, Mac!"
"I'm P.C! That's Mac!"
"I'm not Mac, I'm checkers!"
"I'm yu!"
"You're not me!"
"Yes, I'm Yu!"
"Are you deaf!?"
"No, I'm blind in my left eye"
"ENOUGH!!!" Nightmare Moon yelled. She pointed at a lone batpony guard "You!"
"Yes?"
"Not you! Him!"
"Me?" The batpony asked
"Yes, you!"
"I'm Mi."
"He's Mi," the guard continued "and I'm Yu."
"And I'm about to kick you plot to the sun, smarty pants!" Nightmare Moon yelled
"That's my sister's doll's name!" Shining added. Nightmare Moon grunted to herself before sitting down on her throne.
"Just be quiet!!!"
"... My name is Quiet!" Another soldier yelled
"Why did I show them here?"
Author's Note
I don't know what's the other name for batponies. Plus, more comedy will come in the next chapter!
Twilight Sparkle, Moondancer, and Lemon Hearts walked to the doors of the canterlot castle. They stopped as two Bat Ponies landed in front of them, causing them to take a few steps back. Both Bat-Ponies crept to them, hissing lowly.
"Who are you?" the one on the right asked "And what do you want?" Lemon Hearts swallowed hard and approached them.
"Uh... my name is Lemon Hearts," she spoke "and we're here to help Nightmare Moon in any way we can."
"...She's one of the Castle's workers," the one on the left spoke "but what about the other two?" Both approached Twilight and Moon Dancer.
"And what are you two here for?" the right asked "Here to plead to release Celestia from her sun?"
"And perhaps have Nightmare Moon 'reform'?"
"...For some Thestrals," Moondancer commented "they sure are protective over her."
"...Did she say what I think I heard?"
"Yeah... she called us Thestrals!!!" The right squeed, hopping like a foal. "Finally! Somepony who calls us by our species name, not by our looks!"
"...I don't get it." Twilight commented
"Long story short," the left answered "Luna casted a last minute spell that caused some ponies to be her own kind; us, Thestrals."
"But everypony calls us 'Batponies'!" The right added, quoting with his hooves "Seriously! Why don't they call you unicorns 'horn-ponies' or the pegasi 'bird-ponies'."
"Very prejudiced if you ask me!"
"What is your name, the one with the sweater?" Moondancer cleared her throat.
"My name's Moondancer," and I'm just here to check out some books."
"Then follow us!"
"We know the way!"
"And you stay with your friend, grape unicorn."
"It's Twilight Sparkle!" Twilight growled. The Thestrals laughed as they opened the door and entered the castle, leading Moondancer to the royal library, whistling a tune together .
"I... guess we can enter." Lemon Hearts spoke "Come on, I'm certain we won't encounter anymore Bat Po-" Some Thestrals turned to them with an angered look. "Uh... I mean, Thestrals, as long as we stick together!" The two walked into the castle, though felt really awkward as the Thestrals kept a close eye on them, especially the fact that their eyes glowed a pale yellow in complete darkness.
Outside, Twinkleshine, Lyra Hearstrings, and Minuette peaked from a bush behind.
"Are you sure about this?" Twinkleshine asked "It looks like they have this under control."
"I'm certain about it!" Minuette replied "Lyra, is your lyre ready?"
"It just needs a few tweaks," Lyra answered "but it should be ready."
"Do we really have to do this?" Twinkleshine whined "They look fine! I think we should go back and-" Before she could continue, Minuette put on a face mask.
"Have you been flossing?" she asked in a Germane accent.
"We're heading inside!!!" Twinkleshine ran inside, screaming like a school foal. The Thestrals stood back and watched in curiosity as Twinkleshine ran in, completely confused on what just happened. But then they heard very calming music approaching to them. The music made them drop their weapons and they slowly began to drift into sleep. Outside, Lyra played her lyre whole her horn glowed, making the music head to the guards as Minuette had on earmuffs. As soon as the music stopped playing, all of the thestrals were fast asleep, leaving the two to enter quietly. Minuette tapped Lyra on her shoulder.
"Yeah?" she asked
"Did you floss?" Minuette asked. Lyra's eyes widened as her pupils shrunk. She took a few steps back, but ran as fast as her hooves could carry her! "Come back!!! I zink I see that you have a cavity! Schnell!!!"
"I flossed!!! I really did!!!"
Lemon Hearts and Twilight Sparkle entered the darker throne room as some Thestrals worked together to carry the last cage filled with Celestia's canterlot soldiers. Sitting on Celestia's throne was Nightmare Moon herself as she held a small, animal looking rock with white eyes & a smiling face in her hooves .
"What do you mean it's a one time use for us!?" Nightmare Moon yelled at the rock "How am I suppose to defend my subjects from other things worst than Celestia!?"
"Easy as this," Skippy 'replied', though it was just Nightmare Moon acting as Skippy. "you are one of the biggest losers I've been stuck with for the last one thousand years, hearing you complain about how you are stuck on the moon and you're talking to a rock right now!"
"Skippy! Why can't you be nice!?"
"If I was nice, then where would you be, fatty!? Oh! That's right! You'd still be on the moon, wailing for yourself instead of exiting earlier!"
"Why do I even take you with me!? You're such a jerk!"
"... I'm gonna commit suicide." The rock 'jumped' out of Nightmare Moon's hooves and fell the floor, all of which could be heard in slow motion.
"NO, SKIPPY, NO!!!"
"~weee~"
"NOOOOO, SKIP, NOO!!!"
"~eee~"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, SKIPPY, NO, SKIPPY NO!!!!"
"~eee!"
"NOOOOOO!!!" Skippy feel to both Twilight and Lemon Heart's hooves with a low thump. "SKIPPPY!!! SAY SOMETHING!!!"
"Your friends dead."
"Buck you Skippy." Both Twilight and Lemon stared at the scene, to each other, then back.
"...That was... something." Twilight commented. Lemon Heart's horn glowed and she gave back Nightmare Moon the rock.
"Here's... Skippy, Nightmare Moon." Lemon Hearts spoke sheepishly. Nightmare Moon looked at Skippy for a few seconds, but stopped and sniffed the air.
"That smell." She commented to herself
"Smell?" Nightmare Moon stood up and began to sniff around them, followed by sniffing their manes.
"...Cake." She gave them the evil eye "There's only three types of ponies that I know share the sweet smell of banana cream cake: Soldiers, students, and servants!!! You don't look like soldiers, but what are you two!?" Both unicorns froze with fear and trembled as they saw Nightmare Moon standing above them, realizing that she's just as tall as Celestia and, perhaps, even more powerful. Loud screaming was heard as well as the trotting of some hooves. Turning around, Twinkleshine entered, followed by Lyra Heartstings.
"RUN!!!" Twinkleshine yelled "COLGATE IS HERE!!!"
"I FLOSSED ALREADY!!!" Lyra added "I DID!!!" They tackled Twilight and Lemon Hearts, knocking them against the wall on either side. Entering the room was Minuette in a full dentist outfit.
"Who here hazen't taken care of zere teeth!?" She asked in her Germane accent. Twinkleshine, Lyra, and Lemon Hearts pointed at Nightmare Moon.
"Minuette?" Twilight asked "What are you-HMMPH!?" Twinkleshine Covered Twilight's mouth with her hoof.
"Who is this pony!?" Nightmare Moon asked "And why is she speaking like that?"
"Ah! Ze name is Dr. Colgate," Minuette replied "Equestria's mozt finest Dentist. Ja!" She ran to Nightmare Moon and knocked her into Celestia's throne, opening her mouth forcefully and looked inside "Ooh! You've got quite ze chompers zhere! Zhey're like zat of piranha! How long has it been since you brushed?" Nightmare Moon tried answering, though her mouth was still wide open
"Ha heh hihizoed hor ha housah hearah."
"A zouzand years!? Zis is unacceptable!!! Don't move; zis will only hurt for a moment." She conjured up a bag that opened up, revealing many dentistry equipment and power tools. Nightmare Moon saw this and tried to escape, but she was easily strapped down by some conjured up straps. "And vhere do you think you're going? Consider zis a lesson in taking care of your teeth. Ja! Ze rest of you can help me with this."
"...What is going on!?" Twilight asked "I told you three to stay put!"
"We wanted to," Twinkleshine replied "but Minuette really wanted to help you out."
"And why is she talking in a Germane accent?"
"It's her alter ego, Colgate," Lyra replied "she's been hiding it away from us after her braces were removed. It happens whenever she sees really bad teeth and when she stays up at night time."
"...She had braces?"
"Vhy are you just sitting zhere!?" Minutette yelled "Help me or else you'll get an immediate appointment!"
"We better do what she says!" Lemon Hearts yelled, standing and rushing to Colgate's side. Everyone else followed and rushed towards Colgate's side. "Very good. Now: Lyra Heartstrings, make sure our patient here doesn't try to escape again. Twinkleshine, you're in charge of cleaning my equipment. Lemon Hearts, spread ze word about our patient! Twilight Sparkle, hand me ze laughing gas!"
"Laughing gas?" Twilight asked
"Ja! Laughing Gas! It's ze container labeled!" Twilight turned to see the laughing gas as Lemon Hearts ran out of the throne room. She picked up the laughing gas, but the top came off, letting a stream of gas come out.
"Uh oh!"
Author's Note
I apologize to every German reading this. You guys are awesome!
Lemon Hearts entered the library, seeing Moon Dancer looking through some books while taking down notes. The thestrals sat at another table, reading some comic books.
"There you are!" Lemon Hearts shouted.
"Shh!!!" Moondancer and the Thestrals shushed at the same time.
"Sorry." She walked to Moondancer "What have you learned so far?"
"Not a lot," Moondancer whispered back "I think the only way is to get into Nightmare Moon's, or Luna's, old room."
"But that's off limits, even for me."
"Well Celestia isn't here and we need to do what's necessary to save Equestria. Do you know where it is?"
"I... I do, but I think only Nightmare Moon knows how to open it."
"Well let's go get her." The two unicorns got up and left the library, leaving the Thestrals alone.
"...Think we should go after them?" The right asked
"Eh, what's the worst that can happen?" The other replied.
Lemon Hearts and Moondancer entered the throne room, but stopped and stared in as their friends & Nightmare Moon were standing and laughing uncontrollably.
"And that's not the funniest!" Nightmare Moon laughed "My sister, her flank is SO big, when she told me I was banished to the moon... I thought I was going to live on her flank!!!" Everypony laughed with her.
"...What's... going on?" Moondancer asked
"Oh great," Lemon Hearts commented to herself "Minuette's laugh gas is broken again."
"...She has laughing gas?"
"Really, it's her alter Ego, Colgate. It should be over about... now." Everypony began to stop laughing and headed to Awkward chuckling instead. Nightmare Moon regained her authoritative position and looked down at them. The four stared back and scooted back slowly.
"Anypony have any idea what we should do?" Twilight asked
"...Run. " Nightmare Moon answered. They screamed, turned around, and ran as fast as their hooves could carry them. Booth Moondancer and Lemon Hearts jumped in surprise and ran.
"Quickly!" Lemon Hearts yelled "Follow me! I know the best place to hide!" Everypony followed her as Nightmare Moon chased after them, leading them into a dead end hall with a bust of another Unicorn . All but Lemon Hearts huddled together as they saw Nightmare Moon coming towards them, followed by some Thestrals.
"It's the end of the line for you all!" Lemon Hearts reached over to the statue and knocked it's head over. The wall & floor turned around them, placing them inside a new room while the others outside let out a unified 'What-the-!?'. The room inside looked like any other hallway, but the walls were made with hundreds upon thousands of cakes, each different than the other.
"Where are we?" Twinkleshine asked "And why is there so much cake?"
"This is Celestia's secret cake stash." Lemon Hearts replied, walking ahead "It's where Celestia goes as a means to relieve herself of her responsibilities, and when no cake is around her yet."
"She must REALLY love cake." Lyra commented
"Oh she does! I've seen her eat ten whole cakes in less than three minutes. I do wonder how she loses all that weight, though."
"Side effect from being an Alicorn?" Twilight suggested. "But where to now?"
"We need to head to Princess Luna's room." Moondancer spoke "There, we can find out what we can do to stop Nightmare Moon and bring back Celestia."
The way through the cake filled hallway was a bit confusing to navigate through, but they exited the secret hallway and headed their way to Luna's room to find another way to stop Nightmare Moon. They stopped as another Thestral walked down the hallway, but this one looked pretty small and a lot more skinnier than the others. It stopped and stared at the six mares.
"Oh boy!" He spoke "I'm going to get that promotion!" He turned and ran, but quickly fell onto his face with his flank & tail in the air. "AGH!!! MY ANKLE!!!"
"Let's get outta here!" Twilight yelled, turning and running away.
"Wait!" Twinkleshine replied "He's hurt really bad."
"Leave him!" Moondancer shouted "He's the enemy!"
"Everypony deserves some help, whether you like it or not!" She walked to the Thestral on the floor and leaned down to him. "Aw, you got a boo-boo, didn't you?"
"...What?" the thestral asked
"Where does it hurt?" She poked at his ankle. "Here?" He winced
"Yes! Ow!" Twinkle's horn glowed and she conjured up a med-kit.
"Don't worry, this shouldn't hurt a lot." With some stitches and knowledge thanks to her training as a nurse, the Thestral wore a cast around his left leg. "There you go! Don't do anything too crazy now, and, just between you and me, you may need to eat a sandwich or two."
"Uh... thanks."
"Twinkle!" Lemonhearts yelled
"Coming!" She replied, turning and following her friends. Nightmare Moon and her guards came to the thestral.
"Did six mares pass here!?" she asked
"...No." he lied.
"Where are they!?" She and the guards ran in the opposite direction.
The six mares approached Princess Luna/Nightmare Moon's old chambers, only to see a Thestral guarding it while wearing an amulet around his neck.
"You girls stay behind." Twilight instructed. "He's wearing some sort of amulet, so this requires somepony who knows their magical abilities."
"I'm going with you." Moondancer added "After all, two heads are better than one."
"And six heads are better than the two." Lyra added.
"... Just stick behind me." Twilight groaned. She walked to the Thestral.
"Stop!" The Batpony instructed. "Ye who wish to enter Nightmare Moon's old chambers must answer me these questions three!"
"Oh... alright, ask ahead."
"What is your name?"
"My name is Twilight Sparkle."
"What is your quest?"
"To learn more about Nightmare Moon's past and save Equestria."
"What is your favorite color?" She blinked at him with a confused look.
"...Purple."
"...Alright! You can go." He opened the door for Twilight.
"Just like that? Um... okay." She walked into the room, but the door immediately slammed behind her.
"Ha! This is going to be easy!" Lemon Hearts laughed, running ahead.
"Stop!" The Thestral yelled, Lemon Hearts in front of him. "Ye who wish to enter Nightmare Moon's old chambers must answer me these questions three!"
"Ask me the questions. I'm not afraid!"
"What is your name?"
"Lemon Hearts."
"What is your quest?"
"To learn more about Nightmare Moon's past and save Equestria."
"What is the capital of Yak-Yakistan?" Lemon Hearts froze, staring at the thestral.
"...I don't know that!" The amulet around the Thestral's neck fired at Lemon Hearts, then it sucked her inside the amulet, trapping her inside!
"Lemon Hearts!" Minuette yelled. She marched to the Thestral.
"Stop!" He yelled, stopping Minuette in her tracks. "What is your name?"
"I'm Minuette."
"What is your Journey?"
"To learn more about Nightmare Moon's past and save Equestria."
"What is your favorite color?"
"Pink! No! I mean-" the amulet did the same thing to her, trapping her inside. Lyra stepped in front.
"Stop! What is your name?"
"Lyra Heartstrings." she answered
"What is your quest?"
"To learn more about Nightmare Moon's past and save Equestria."
"What do you think about me?"
"... You're a terrible pony for what you did to me friends!"
"... I don't know what I did to your friends." The amulet glowed and it sucked the Thestral in and spat out both Minuette & Lemon Hearts, but also some other random ponies, all of which had quesadillas on them. The door opened for them
"That was a pretty harsh answer." Twinkleshine commented.
"Did you want me to be a liar?" Lyra asked. They all entered Nightmare Moon's old chambers, though the other ponies went back to their old homes. Twilight stared and shivered at the sight of Minuette & Lemon Hearts eating their quesadillas.
"...What?" Lemon Hearts asked "Want one?"
"No thanks." Twilight scooted back "just... look on that side."
Author's Note
Sorry for taking so long! College and other stuff. The next chapter is going to to be more heart felt... followed with something funny at the end. And yes, the last bit was from Monty Python.
Nightmare Moon took in deep breaths from her wild goose chase. One of the Thestrals approached to her.
"Your majesty?"
"What!?" she snapped.
"Uh... perhaps you should go and get some shut eye. My men and I will search high and low for these mares."
"Hm... that sounds good." She made her way to her old room, but stopped as hundreds of ponies came from her hallway, all covered with quesadillas and had a bad smell on them. She took a child from the crowd. "You! Where did you all come from!?"
"Me?" The colt asked "Why, All o' us have been trapped in that one bloke's glowey amulet, miss."
"How did you all escape!?"
"Some Lasses tricked the old wanker into getting into his amulet to get to some other lasses room."
"The mares!!! Men! Get to my old room! I'll be with you shortly! And... why did you try to get into my room?"
"I needed some new britches."
The six mares looked all over the room, seeing some books around, but tried to find something about Nightmare Moon/ Princess Luna's past. So far, many of the books were old tales that both Twilight and Moondancer read as fillies to pass a book report on. Moondancer, however, found something of interest.
"What's this? ... It's her diary!"
"Luna had a Diary?" Lyra asked
"I'm certain everypony has a diary." Twinkleshine suggested.
"I didn't." Minuette replied "I just had... her... to talk to." Loud banging was heard from the other side of the door.
"Open the doors, now!" One of the Thestrals from the other side yelled. "By order of Nightmare Moon, you will open or face grave consequences!"
"Oh Horse apples!" Lemon Hearts shouted, running to the door and pressing her body on the doors to keep it shut.
"Help her out!" Moondancer spoke to the others. "I've got to find a way to stop Nightmare Moon! Perhaps something in the past can help us stop her." Everyone nodded, running to the door and barricading it with anything they can find.
Nightmare Moon watched as the Thestrals tried to push down the doors together, but to no success.
"This is too hard!" One of the Thestrals whined "Isn't there another way to open the doors!?"
"Use your heads!" Nightmare Moon ordered. The thestrals looked at each other, unsure on what to do.
"But I don't want to use my head!!!" The biggest Thestral whined. He was tied up and the rest carried him, charging and yelling as they used the biggest thestral as a battering ram against the door. It barely made a budge. Nightmare Moon Face-Hoofed herself.
"Ugh! Idiots!" She yelled, disappearing into a cloud and flew away. The Thestrals got up.
"Again!" One of them yelled "For the princess!"
"Not again!" The ram-used Thestral whined as they began to charge again.
Another small bump was heard outside. All of the unicorns sat in, otherwise, an emptied out room that was Nightmare Moon/ Princess Luna's old room.
"...That's it!" Moondancer yelled "That's the key!"
"What's the key?" Twilight asked "You know the way to stop Nightmare Moon?"
"I do, but it's going to be tricky."
"Tell us then!" Twinkleshine replied, followed by another bump.
"I'm getting tired of these bumps." Lemon Hearts added. "I do wonder if they know that there's a window here."
"They don't, but I do." The voice of Nightmare Moon spoke. The mares gasped, as they saw Nightmare Moon taking shape from a dark blue-purple cloud entering from the window.
"Get behind me!" Twilight yelled. They followed, though Moondancer stood next to her.
"How adorable. Twins believing-"
"They're not related." Minuette interupted.
"...Oh... well... why do you both-? Never mind! The fact is this: you have lost! There's no point in fighting it!
Celestia will stay in the sun for a thousand years and the night will last forever!"
"You're wrong!" Moondancer yelled, marching towards her "Because I know the only thing that can defeat you!"
"Ha! What is that?" Moondancer and Nightmare Moon stared into each others eyes. Silence was heard, but Moondancer charged at Nightmare moon, followed by-
"What!? What are you... doing!?" Twilight asked. Moondancer was hugging Nightmare Moon. Nightmare looked around, sweating a bit and looking nervous.
"Uh... what are you doing?"
"It's alright." Moondancer simply spoke "Just let it out."
"Let it out!? What do you mean by 'let it out'!? I'm victorious! I'm-"
"You deserve this, every bit of it."
"...I'm lost here." Twilight and the others shrugged.
"I read your diary, and I know what you've been through. You were born precisely 217 years, 4 months, 2 weeks, 3 days, 4 hours, 17 minutes, and 22 seconds right after Celestia."
"That's... strange to know. But my sister-"
"Everything you have done, Celestia had done already. Your parents loved you, but everything you did, Celestia already did herself."
"Well... no... she didn't... I-"
"When you first flew, Celestia was already leagues ahead of you. The first leviatation spell you did, Celestia already knew how to reverse and rapid aging. When you moved the moon on your own, Celestia not only moved it back in place, but she was controlling the sun with ease and watching over your old castle in the Everfree forest at the same time." At this moment, Nightmare Moon began to tear up a bit.
"Y-yes... she did! She-she-"
"And wherever you went, only some ponies paid attention to you; Everyone's attention was at your sister. That is why you made the Thestrals, isn't it? You wanted to feel good, so with the ponies that followed you, so you used your magic to turn them into thestrals, as a way to reward them & remind them on who they're watched by." Nightmare Moon was tearing harder.
"Y-You wouldn't believe... just ho nice they were! And... and-"
"But you still felt inferior. Just a shadow of your sister. Just something powerful that nopony cared about. Just... nonexistent. Am I right?" She finally cracked as waterfalls of tear fell from her eyes.
"YES!!! " She grabbed Moondancer and hugged her tight, crying hard. "E-everything I did was worthless! She... she never paid attention to m-e-e-e! I wanted to be-be as great as Celestia, but n-n-nothing got her attention! I-I would've followed her to the ends of Equestria! Sh-sh-she was my idol!"
"It's alright. We're all here for you. Let it all out, Princess. Let it all out. Please... care to join us, girls?" Everypony else stood there, tearing up as well, ran and gave Nightmare Moon a group hug... except for Twilight. Twilight stared at how hard Nightmare Moon cried: starting from her tail & reaching all the way to her head, she was slowly, but effectively, turning back into Princess Luna. She then remembered Moondancer's reaction that afternoon; if she just went on with her studies, Moondancer may have turned into something just as bad, if not, worse than Nightmare Moon. Were it not for that one action, Nightmare Moon may have taken over Equestria herself. Then she got an epiphany; they were the elements of harmony! Lemon Hearts acting as their guide in the Canterlot castle, along with tickets to the grand galloping gala in a few months prior, was generosity. Minuette & her alter Ego, Colgate, was laughter (though, it may be cheated that way). Twinlkeshine helping the lone Thestral out when they didn't was kindness. Lyra telling off the guard Thestral about what she felt was honesty. And Moondancer, being the one to step up against Nightmare Moon and help, was a sign of loyalty. She was the final piece. Twilight couldn't help herself, but she ran to the changing Nightmare Moon/Princess Luna and joined the group hug. A large, bright light was seen.
Twilight's eyes were slowly hit by the morning sun.
Wait a minute!? she thought The Sun!? She opened her eyes, blurred by the light, but regained her vision as well as stood on her hooves. All her friends were doing the same, but they noticed something different.
"What the-!?" Moondancer yelled "What's this thing around me neck?"
"It... looks like your cutie mark." Lyra commented.
"So does yours." Indeed, everypony looked at each other's necklaces with their matching cutie marks: Moondancer's was a red moon with three small stars around it, Minuette's was a blue sand dial, Twinleshine's was three pink stars, Lemonhearts had three light purple hearts, and Lyra Heartstrings' was an orange lyre. Twilight Sparkle, however, wore a crown on her head, which had her cutie mark of a large star, though none of the smaller ones around it. A moan was heard and, right near the barricaded door was a reformed princess Luna, free from her Nightmare Moon self.
"I'm... I'm free!" She spoke to herself "I-I'm no longer Nightmare Moon! Ha! I'M A FREE MARE!!! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!! Who ever knew I needed to cry!?"
"Catharsis." Moondancer commented, walking to Luna.
"...What?" Twilight asked
"It's a little something I read. When strong emotions are built over time, the mind's first instinct is to repress them, and that affects the personality in many negative ways. Luna needed some sort of release and relieve herself of these emotions. Trust me, this is so much better that say... a zappy zappy 'turn good' spell."
"Well... whatever the case, thank you." Luna replied "It... it feels great, having somepony who went through what I was going."
"Don't thank me. Thank my friends, and, of course, Twilight Sparkle. Were it not for her coming to my party, then not only would I probably become some book hermit, but I'm certain that Equestria would slowly fade away."
"Thank you all... uh... I never got your names."
"Moondancer."
"Lyra Heartstrings!"
"Twinkleshine."
"Lemon Hearts."
"Minuette.
"...Twilight Sparkle." Luna smiled at the six.
"You six mares," she began "you six friends, I'm proud to say, that you have bested me and became my new friends."
"Sweet!" Minuette commented
"Just... one question." Lemon Hearts spoke.
"Yes?" Luna replied
"Can... can Celestia come back?"
"...Oh! Sure, but... we'll have to do it outside. Last time I tried bringing back something for space, the castle had a huge hole in it followed by a large piece of cheese." Luna & the mares removed the barricaded doors, opening the doors to the large crowd of Thestrals out of the door.
"BRIGHT LIGHT!!! BRIGHT LIGHT!!!" All the thestrals screamed in high pitch voices, flying & scurrying away from the sun's light.
"...I'll get them sunglasses."
Outside, in front of the castle, Luna casted a spell that would bring Celestia back. They waited for Celestia to return, though to not see anything immediately.
"Just give it a few minutes." Luna replied, standing & whistling. A minute of awkward silence stood. "~So~... Why do you two look alike?" Twilight gestured between her and Moondancer.
"Us?" she asked
"Yes."
"Yeah," Lyra replied "You had a different mane style when you first joined."
"Last time I saw, Twilight had that mane first." Minuette added
"Is it true!?" Twinkleshine asked "I'm not saying it's wrong, but are you a-HUMPH!?" Lemon Hearts placed her hoof in Twinleshine's mouth, silencing her.
"Let her answer." she spoke, turning to Moondancer. "But yes, why do you look like Twilight?" Moondancer's cheeks blushed at the questions, and she sweated a bit.
"You... you all really want to know why?" she asked. They all nodded. "Oh... um... you're not going to offended or feel weird, Twilight?"
"...Truth be told," Twilight answered "I never really focused on your mane until now."
"Oh. But... Twilight... there's... something I've always wanted to tell you. Ever since I saw you move into your dorm... saw you in those classes... had private tea parties with your dragon and your doll, I... I kinda had a... well... a-"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" Celestia's screaming was heard. They looked up, seeing Celestia falling from the sky in a ball of fire! She crashed in the middle of them all, but soon jumped out and ran around around her crater. "OWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!! IT BURNS, BURNS, BURNS!!! " The dust settled, and Celestia stood there, looking fine... except her coat was now pink! They stood at the very bright pink Princess, who stood there in pain.
"Princess?" Twilight asked. Celestia stiffly moved, moving as if she was one of Spike's action figures.
"Twilight? You... you actually did it!?"
"I did, Celestia! But with my friends!" Celestia stared at Twilight's friends.
"Well... I guess not everything's set in stone."
"What do you mean? What did you plan?" Celestia sighed.
"Twilight... you weren't meant to go to Moondancer's party."
"I know that, but what was I suppose to do!?"
"... In Ponyville, I found five ponies that you were meant to befriend and who represent the elements of Harmony. You and those five were suppose to head to our old castle in the Everfree forest and defeat Nightmare Moon together."
"How, though?"
"... With some sort of Zappy-zappy 'turn good' spell." Twilight turned to Moondancer, who just shrugged. "But... I see that you didn't have to do it. You six mares, in Canterlot... but you have a lot to learn about friendship, Twilight."
"No kidding! I need to catch up with my friends, especially with Moondancer."
"Yeah... you do. But... is it alright if you move to Ponyville?"
"...why?"
"It... it's a nice place, and there's plenty of ponies to meet. I've set your home to be in Ponyville's library."
"But what about my friends?"
"I already got a place with my best friend, Bon Bon." Lyra replied
"My friend the Time-Turner has an open room available in his house." Minuette added "Plus, I got a job there for... something, I don't remember."
"Twinkleshine and I have a home in ponyville." Lemon hearts added
"It's true." Twinkleshine added "And some friends can help me get a job."
"What about you, Moondancer?" Twilight asked. Moondacner's cheeks turned full red.
"I'd... I'd like to be with you." she answered. Twilight tilted her head.
"...Why? Is it because of the books? Is it because you'd like to expand? Or is it because-" Moondancer perked her lips and kissed Twilight on her cheeks. Twilight stopped and stared at her, her cheeks then blushed as well.
"That's why. I... I actually... love you, Twi." Twilight stared into space, then fainted.
"...I knew it!" Twinkleshine yelled "You two are so adorable together!"
"There goes my other idea with Cadence." Celestia grumbled to herself.
"Who's Cadence?" Luna asked
"You'll learn, sister. For now... I need to rest."
"Sure, let me help you." Her horn glowed and she picked up her sister. Celestia screamed again.
"BAD TOUCH! BAD TOUCH!!! "
"Oh quit your whining! At least you were only on the sun for a few hours."

New Town, New Roomate, and New Relationships.
Twilight felt awkward all over herself. Moving to Ponyville was one thing, but moving in with another mare that shared her manestyle and had a deep crush on her... this took the cake. And, as it turns out, though Celestia allowed Twilight & her friends to still be together (along with Moondancer, who acted as Twilight's shadow), she wanted Twilight to apologize to the residents that slaved over the Summer Sun Set celebration on her behalf. While Celestia would do this, her sunburns were really bad, and she wanted Twilight to at least get acquainted with the other ponies she wanted her student to befriend earlier. Both Moondancer & Twilight, along with Spike, took whatever they needed before stepping on the royal chariot to depart to Ponyville. Coming onto the balcony before they left was Shining Armor, who still had outlines of the chains around his coat, but was unharmed.
"Shining!" Twilight greeted, running to her brother and hugging him.
"Aw, hey Twilie," he replied "I heard how you saved Equestria from Nightmare Moon."
"I did, but not alone. I had some help."
"You mean with your friends? Hey Moondancer."
"Hey." She replied. Twilight looked between the two.
"You both know each other?" she asked
"Yeah." Shining Armor answered "I went to Moon Dancer multiple times to find a book about combat training."
"So that's where my book went!" A deep, yet strangely attractive voice spoke from around the corner. Out from the corner was another mare who's mane color was similar to Moondancer's, but was a bit brighter and tie up in a bun.
"Cappuccino!" Moondancer cheered, running and hugging to the other mare.
"Hey little sis," she spoke in that same deep voice "Moving away with your lover, eh?" Twilight and Shining Armor stared at Cappuccino awkwardly. Shining then turned to Twilight.
"You and Moondancer are-?" He began to ask.
"No!" Twilight interrupted "No, not really. It's... its new, actually, I mean, I didn't know until-"
"Hey, it's alright, Twi. Love works in many strange ways."
"But I'm not in love! This is just surprising in so many ways."
"But aren't surprises the best thing, though?" Moondancer asked, leaning into Twilight's space. Twilight leaned back, sweating nervously.
"Uh... not all surprises are great, Moondancer. Nightmare Moon surely wasn't."
"True, but what about us saving Equestria?"
"You both saved Equestria!?" Cappuccino asked in surprise "Heh, I'm quite surprised, Moondancer. First, you get your lover, then you save Equestria together. Who knew?" She turned to Shining Armor, who stared at her awkwardly. "What? Is it the voice?"
"...Yes." He nodded.
"I'm just born that way, okay. I'm normal in every other way. But I do say, I love a stallion in armor." Shining Armor took a step to the side.
"Uh... I'll see you soon, LSBFF."
"I'll see you too, BBBFF." Twilight replied.
"And I guess I'll see you soon, sis?" Cappuccino asked
"Sure, Big sis," Moondancer replied "plus, Twilight and I have a lot to catch up on." Her eyebrows moved up & down, suggesting something. Spike entered with his luggage, but gagged at Moondancer's comment.
"Hello! Baby Dragon here!" He yelled.
"Oh. Sorry."
The trip to Ponyville was strange, to say the least. While Twilight and Spike were fine with Flying, but Moondancer shivered like a foal's very first Nightmare Night. She jumped and held onto Twilight in a tight grip of a hug that, for a lack of better words, felt like a Minotaur's tight hug. How Twilight didn't went unconscious was anypony's guess, but when they landed, Moondancer jumped off and began to kiss the floor.
"Ground!" She yelled, kissing it. "Sweet ground! How I miss you so much!"
"Being over dramatic, much?" Spike asked bluntly.
"It's not if you're afraid of heights." Twilight spoke, rubbing her throat in a raspy voice.
"Darn straight!" Moondancer replied, hugging the floor. "I never want to do that again! Not even if Equestria is invaded from other creatures!"
"Well you should've took the train."
"But I don't want to leave you alone, Twi." Twilight groaned in frustration.
"Okay, we need to set some ground rules! Let's unpack first, then cover the rules."
House ground rules.
1) We are not in a relationship. We are friends/housemates/acquaintances sharing the same home.
2) Unless we decide to further our relationship or need to do something urgent, we will not be together any longer other than getting ready for the morning & sleeping at night and/or hanging out with our friends.
3) We will switch who watches over the library every day.
4) Same concept, but with teaching Spike. He's a baby dragon, so he's not old to go to school yet and the other foals will probably be frightened of him
5) Watch our language around Spike. If we swear, put money in the swear jar!
6) Unless we have a sleepover at our house, we will not sleep together on the same bed.
7) Tell each other what we're buying. With the exception of our birthdays & Hearths Warming, we will spend very little money on anything else but groceries.
8) No kissing. EVER
Moondancer frowned at the last rule.
"Twilight," she whined "I'm fine with the other rules, but the last?" Twilight sighed as she placed her satchel on the floor.
"Look, Moondancer," she replied "I'm fine with us being friends. I like you, I really do, but I'm not sure if you and I were meant for each other."
"But you don't know that until we try."
"I... I don't know what to say! The fact that you've had a crush on me, how you stepped up to Nightmare Moon/Princess Luna next to me, and kissing me on my cheek! I have no idea what to think right now!" she sighed but placed her right hoof on Moondancer's shoulder "Look, let's just take this slow, okay? I think you're going through... a phase right now."
"You're saying I'm not really in love with you?"
"Yes... no... maybe. Ugh, it's complicated. If you're into other mares, I'm fine with it, but I'm not so sure myself. I'm fine with us living together, just don't try anything crazy while I'm here. Until I'm ready, and share some of the feelings you have for me back to you, let's just go on with our days as friends, okay?"
"...Okay."
"Good. Our friends should be here be the end of the day, so let's go and find these other ponies that Celestia wants to apologize to, but can't from her sunburn."
"Gotcha. Just let me unpack some of my stuff, then we'll go."
"I understand." She turned and left. Spike came in, carrying the basket he slept in.
"Psst! Spike!" He stopped and turned to Moondancer.
"Yeah?" he asked
"What are some of the things Twilight into? Pony wise?"
"...You mean like looks?" She nodded. "Well... I've seen her gawked time & time again whenever she sees some stallions with either an orange-yellow coat or blue mane... looks up a lot whenever a pegasus flies over... and I guess with Shining armor, has deep respect for any guardsmen."
"Crab-apples!"
"Though she really loves anypony with a love for knowledge and has fair knowledge of Starswirl the Bearded. Talk about being a geek."
"Ah-Ha! So I have a chance with her!?"
"...What?"
"Nothing!" Moondancer ran out with a hop in her legs. Spike picked up the list from the floor, regarding the rules.
"...OH! That's... strange. Yet, I kinda expect it."
An Orange-yellow pegasus stallion with a blue mane stood at the sun burnt princess, the lunar princess, and another pink princess, but who's mane didn't flow like Celestia's, but instead looked like it came straight from a candy shop.
"What do you mean I'm not going to become a prince!?" He asked in shock.
"I'm sorry," Celestia replied "you really are a good soldier, probably the best of the newest recruits, but she's claimed."
"That can't be it! I thought that was her twin sister, or something."
"You and I both." Luna replied
"It's her choice." the other pink princess spoke "But I will give you this promise; if she and Moondancer aren't in love with each other by the time the Crystal empire returns, then you'll be able to win her heart."
"...But what happens when they do fall in love?"
"Then... I don't know, I guess you'll get your own captain's quarters?"
"That's not very reassuring."
"Well I'm the princess of love, not the princess of reassurance."
"And how long is this going to take?"
"Give or take a year or two." Celestia answered.
"TWO YEARS!?!?!? You're saying I have two years until I can meet Twilight, and HOPE that she will fall in love with me at first sight!?"
"Hey! I said give or take a year or two. Not everything is set in stone; I learned that the hard way."
"Now why don't you go and train, Flash Sentry." the princess of love spoke "You want to look good if she loves you, right?"
"...Sure, Princess Cadence." Flash grumbled to himself, turning and walking out of the throne room.
"And you can't meet her face-to-face! Meeting her will ruin your destiny!"
Stupid Moondancer, taking my destiny to becoming a prince! He thought to himself Unless... of course! She never said I couldn't meet her face-to-face with a disguise! Father, I'm sorry, but I'm gonna need your sky-ship and follow your hoofsteps. Captain Flash II is here, and he's rob every town TWICE!!! He ran out of the doors, the unicorn guards slamming it behind him as he laughed his way out. Cadence turned her head to the side and blinked with a confused look.
"He's sure excited. And by the way, Celestia, why are you-?"
"I was banished to the sun." Celestia interrupted.
"...Oh. I'm sorry."
"Don't be. I just hope this color goes away and mother doesn't see this."
Out in the depths of space, Celestia's mother, a giant alicorn with a coat that's much cleaner than Celestia's with a red mane that was as elegant as her posture, saw her daughter with her pink coat, smiled, then laughed.
Author's Note
Moondancer's sister never spoke, so I thought it'd match.
Going with Alternate universe & destiny change here, but Flash will come back soon enough.
Forgive us.
Both Twilight and Moondancer looked over the list of ponies they had to apologize on Celestia's behalf, but were fairly surprised at how small the list was: A farmer pony named 'Applejack', a weather pegasus pony named 'Rainbow Dash', a unicorn named 'Rarity', another pegasus called 'Fluttershy', and finally, another earth pony named Pinkie Pie.
"Is it me," Moondancer commented "or do all of these names state the ponies' personalities and looks?"
"What do you mean?" Twilight asked
"It's just something on my mind for a while. It seems that everypony has a name that states their personality and destiny. I'm just asking this; are we truly free?"
Out in space, again, Celestia's mother heard this and saw the two unicorns walking next to each other, heading to Sweet Apple Acres.
"...Eh, I guess you have a point there." she shrugged, levitating a bowl of popcorn and started to eat it. "I do want to see what this universe is up to, though. Last universe's season finale was great, so I might as well watch this until the next season."
Both Twilight and Moondancer approached the farm, but saw that it was empty.
"Think they're away?" Moondancer asked
"Not very likely." Twilight replied "From what I've read, farmers are very territorial over their property, so don't touch anything that will set them off."
~CRUNCH!!!~
Twilight turned around to see Moondancer took a bite from one of the apples.
"Oh Sweet Celestia!" Moondancer moaned "These are the best apples in all of-"
"MOONDACNER!!!" Twilight yelled. The ground shook ah a cloud of dust surrounded the two mares. The dust soon cleared, and a bunch of earth ponies surrounded them. Moondancer and Twilight stood tail-to-tail.
"What do we do, Twilight?"
"Whatever we do, don't provoke them any further." She cleared her throat "Who are you?" A lone, orange mare with a blonde mane in a ponytail, freckles on her face, and wore a stetson approached them.
"The Name's Applejack," she answered "and we are the Farmers Who Say... 'Neigh'!"
"...What? the farners Who Say 'neigh'?"
"The same!"
"And... what are all of you, exactly?"
"We are the keepers of the sacred words: Neigh, Apple, and Howdy!" A collection of 'Howdy's' were heard around them.
"Well... my name is Twilight Sparkle, and this is my friend, Moondancer."
"...Hi" Moondancer replied meekly. Applejack gave a curious look.
"Ya'll are friends?" she asked "I though the two of you were sis's or related."
"I get the feeling we're going to get this a lot." Twilight spoke to Moondancer, then turned to Applejack & the other farmers. "We're both here to apologize on Celestia's behalf."
"Oh! And what took Celestia so long to not come and meet our town? Are them rumors true about her cake habits?"
"No, you see-"
"Eh, nevermind. Ah guess we can accept Celestia's apology."
"Oh good. Now, we'll be on our way to-"
"Not so fast! The farmers Who Say 'neigh' demand a sacrifice!"
"But Farmers of Neigh," Moondancer spoke "we are but simple mares who saved Equestria recently from the terrors of Nightmare-"
"NEIGH!!!" All the farmers around yelled 'Neigh' over and over, causing Twilight and Moondancer to fall over in pain. Even the sound caused Celetia's mother to cover her ears and wince in pain. "We shall say 'neigh' again to you if you do not follow us."
"Well, what is it you want?" Twilight asked
"We want... a shrubbery!" A dramatic chord was heard .
"A what?"
"And where did that come from?" Moondancer asked. At that moment, all the farmemrs yelled 'Neigh' again, causing them to fall in pain again.
"Ow! Please, please! No more! We will find you a shrubbery!"
"Ya'll must return here with a shrubbery or else ya'll never get back to Celestia."
"O Knights of Neighi, you are just and fair, and we will return with a shrubbery."
"One that looks nice."
"Of course.
"And not too expensive."
"Yes.
"Now git!" Twilight ran out of the farm. Moondancer, however, stood. "What do ya'll want?" Without saying anything, her horn glowed, and a shrubbery appeared in front of A.J.
"There you go." She replied "One shrubbery; nice looking and not too expensive." Applejack looked at it carefully, then shrugged.
"Eh, good enough. Alright ya'll, drop the act." All the ponies around fell to the floor from exhaustion.
"...This was an act?"
"Kinda. If ya'll want to look tough, it's best to out this on. Plus, that dramatic cord may be from Pinkie herself. Welcome to Ponyville, you two love birds."
"...How did you-?"
"Ah can tell in yer eyes. Your friend, not so much, but give it time." Moondancer smiled and nodded.
"Thank you."
"No problem. Now get out before mah family gets up." Moondancer ran away from the family.
"Twilight! Wait up!!!"
Twilight and Moondancer walked to the side, seeing a lot more clouds around.
"Strange," Twilight commented "I thought the sky would've remained clear."
"Don't clouds usually come back?" Moondancer asked
"Not like this. Cloudsale isn't above us yet, so the clouds can't come in this early." Loud snoring could be heard above.
"Who is that?"
"It's probably the one in charge of clearing the sky; Rainbow Dash. How are we going to find her?"
"Hm... I think I have the thing." Moondancer levitated a rock and tossed it into the clouds.
"...Ow!" A raspy voice yelled "Who did that!?" Popping out of the clouds, a cyan pegasus with a rainbow mane popped out. "Did you throw this at me?"
"No." they both spoke in unison. She gave them both a stern look.
"Pardon us for ruining your nap," Twilight spoke "but I am Twilight Sparkle."
"Moondancer." Moondancer added
"And we're both here on Celestia's behalf to apologize for missing out on the Summer Sunset celebration."
"...Apologize?" Rainbow Dash asked. She flapped her wings and landed in front of the two. "What do you mean? The celebration is in a few hours."
"...You... didn't notice anything different?" Twilight asked
"How has anything changed? I was just in the middle of my daily afternoon nap. Heh, I got a few more hours before I gotta clear these clouds for the celebration tonight." The two unicorns looked at each other, trying to hide their laughter, but snickered. "What? What's so funny!?"
"Um... how do I put this? Uh-"
"You slept through the whole day away!" Moondancer interrupted, bursting into laughter. Twilight joined, falling to the floor and laughing.
"...What!?" Rainbow Dash asked in shock. "But-but it was just a small nap."
"Your 'nap' lasted much longer than you thought!"
"Yeah!" Twilight added "You slept through everything!"
"I-I did!?" She asked again. She flapped her wings and began to clear the clouds, spewing profanity out of her mouth and hoped that she wouldn't be fired. It took her exactly one minute to clear the sky, and even then, she landed, sweating and breathing hard "I... gotta... stay... awake."
"You should." Moondancer replied bluntly. "With you sleeping like that, you'll probably never make it into some flight team like the Wonderbolts."
"...I guess you're right."
"And don't worry," Twilight reassured. "We won't tell anypony about this."
"...Thank you. I-I won't do that again." She fell to the floor and slept.
"Huh." Moondancer commented "She seems weird."
"I just hope the others aren't as weird." Twilight added.
Twilight jinxed it. Town hall was empty, and the other unicorn they had to go to, Rarity, was in her boutique, which looked liked a carousel. They were immediately meet by a white unicorn with a very fancy looking, blue-purple mane.
"Oh my word!" she spoke "I've never seen you two before! New here?"
"Very new." Moondancer replied
"We came here from Canterlot to-" Twilight spoke
"CANTERLOT!?!?!?" Rarity yelled, bringing them both to her with her magic. "I must simply know you both! Oh look at you, what are you wearing!?"
"Me?" Moondancer asked "I'm just wearing this sweater I got from-"
"Oh hush! You can look so much better along with your sister."
"But we're not related." Twilight spoke. Rarity blinked.
"You're... not sisters? Then why do you-?"
"You don't want to know."
"...oh-hohoho!!! I see why!" Twilight blushed
"No! It's not like-"
"We're taking this slowly," Moondancer spoke for the embarrassed Twilight "And, if it works out, then we'll take another step ahead."
"Ah! Well, love works in weird ways." Rarity inquired "And whatever happens, I hope you two find something that works together. Now, where was I?" Without saying anything to each other, both unicorns knew what to say.
"We were here on Celestia's behalf to apologize for not appearing at the Summer-Sunset celebration." Twilight spoke.
"Celestia wanted to come, but complications happened." Moondancer added
"She's certain you worked hard to make the place look presentable for royalty."
"And she hopes to make it up to you in one way or another."
"...Oh." Rarity said "Well... truth be told... I didn't work that hard. It just came to me naturally. But, at least I know why. Tell you what, next time you come over here, you both get a dress, free of charge." Both Twilight and Moondancer nodded.
"Thank you, Rarity," Twilight replied "I'm certain that we'll get a dress soon." They both turned around and prepared to leave.
"Oh! That's what I forgot! Moondancer~!"
"RUN!!!" Moondancer yelled. They both ran for their lives out of the shop.
From what the local town ponies said, Fluttershy was in her cottage, most likely tending to her animals. Twilight and Moondancer approached the cottage, seeing all of the animals around that, though would hunt or run away from each other, seemed to live in harmony. Twilight knocked on the door to Fluttershy's home, all the while Moondancer tried to wave the animals away.
"Go away!" Moondancer waved her hoof at the small animals around her. "Shoo! Shoo!"
"I don't that's going to help." Twilight commented. The door opened and a butter yellow pegasus with a long, pink mane answered the door.
"Um... hello." she sheepishly spoke. "Um... who are you two?"
"Greetings!" Twilight introduced herself. The fluttershy squeaked and ducked, shivering in fear. "Oh my! I'm so sorry. Who are you?"
"Um... I'm... Flutterhy."
"What was that?"
"...I'm Fluttershy."
"Didn't quite catch that." The pegasus whimpered. "...Okay then. I... I guess I'll leave you to your animals." Twilight turned around, only to see that Moondacner was covered with animals all over her, covering every part of her but her face.
"Can we go now?" Moondancer asked bluntly. "I think the animals think of me as their mother."
"I can help." the low voice of Fluttershy spoke. A low whistle was needed to get all the animals off of Moondancer and onto Fluttershy instead. Moondancer most of the hairs & feathers off of her, thought some stayed attached to her and some of the animals left some surprises on her.
"Ugh! Disgusting!!! I'm gonna have to wash this tonight, you know that!?"
"Oh, I'm sorry. They didn't mean it, did you little guys?" Moondancer groaned and walked away.
"I'm sorry for my friend," Twilight spoke "I guess animals aren't her forte."
"Not a problem. What were you here for?"
"Oh! We came along on Celestia's behalf to apologize for her not coming on the Summer Sunset celebration, though I'm not sure what you were suppose to do... Fluttershy."
"Oh, it's okay. My birds weren't ready, either way, so no real harm was done. I... I hope we can... hang out, some time?"
"...Maybe."
"Oh... that's okay." she went back in her house and shut the door quietly.
"Are you coming!?" Moondancer yelled.
"I'm coming!" Twilight yelled back "Sheesh, try to be patient next time!"
It was getting late and the two mares returned to their library. Moondancer took her coat off and grumbled under her breath on how badly she wanted to beat the animals until they were unconscious. Twilight told Moondancer to calm down; she was going to wash her coat tonight and they'll apologize to Pinkie Pie tomorrow. This calmed Moondancer greatly, though she wanted to fire a turtle out of a canon for some weird reason. They entered their house, seeing the place was nearly pitch black.
"Ugh! Where's spike!?" Twilight asked "Spike! Are you here!?"
"Maybe... he's sleeping?" Moondancer suggested.
"He can't be asleep now, Moondancer. He's suppose to help unload our stuff."
"Ah, let him have his sleep. He's worked on his own, remember?"
"... I guess you're right. Want to help me set the place up?"
"I was thinking of... other things we can do."
"Other things? Moondancer, what are you-?" She froze and stared at Moondancer. Moondancer moved her eyebrows seductively. "MOONDANCER!!!"
"Come on! Spike's asleep, and it's just you, me, and-" the lights turned on, revealing multiple ponies inside the house! Both Moondancer and Twilight screamed their heads off, then fell to the floor, unconscious. Spike, their friends from Canterlot, and a pink pony with a darker colored, poofy mane & tail approached them.
"Think we over did it?" Minuette asked
"I don't think so," Lemonhearts replied "I think we really just caught them off guard."
"I guess that was kinda mean of us." Twinkleshine commented
"Well, at least we stopped them." Spike commented, poking Twilight with a stick.
"So~... do we party?" Lyra asked the pink pony.
"... We'll set them to bed, THEN we'll par-tay!!!" she answered. The crowd cheered as the Pink Pony placed them both in their room, on the same bed inside. Immediately, Moondacer placed her right foreleg around Twilight. "Aw, you're both so adorable!"
Author's Note
Yes, there'll be two running gags for this: Ponies assuming that Moondancer & Twilight are sisters, and Celestia's mother, Lauren Faust, commentating every now and then with what is the magical form of Netflix.
The morning sun came in and it landed on Moondancer's eyes, causing the unicorn to wake up. Moondacner gasped as she saw that not only was she hugging Twilight in their sleep, but saw some of her drool in her lover's mane. Twilight was still asleep, and though Moondancer thought this would be bad for their relationship, she was pleasantly surprised to hear Twilight was snoring herself. She levitated a rag and made Twilight's mane look better, but decided that, if she was still asleep, and the way it felt great sleeping through the night, Moondancer snuggled with the snoring Twilight.
"Mmm... you're so cozy, Twilight." Moondancer spoke to herself, laying her head onto Twilight's neck. At that moment, Twilight snorted herself awake, opening her eyes, but froze as she heard & felt Moondancer cuddle her. "Remember the first time we meet each other, Twilight? We were so young; you were getting use to raising Spike, and I was getting use to using my glasses. I remember seeing you that day in the cafeteria... it was Taco Tuesday, you and I were sitting at our own tree a hill across from each other. Music was playing that day... and I just knew that, one day, we'd be together." Twilight had the same flashback with the music playing. If it wasn't Celestia's plan, then truly, it must've been some other force's plan.
"HA! I LOVE THAT SONG!!!" Celestia's mother cheered. She summoned a karaoke machine and sang to the song. In Canterlot, Celestia cringed to herself, the same feeling she had whenever her mother sang. She wasn't exactly the greatest singer.
"And here we are," Moondancer continued "oh Twilight, I'm sure you're not listening right now, but you make me feel full. I... I hope we can make this work."
"...We'll find out soon." Twilight spoke, breaking the silence. Moondancer froze.
"...Did you hear everything?"
"Yep."
"Do you remember?"
"Yep."
"...Are you creeped out?"
"...Kinda."
"Do... never mind. Let's... just go on with our day."
"Yeah... let's just go on with our day." Both mares got out of bed and prepared for the day. They went downstairs, Moondancer happy to see her sweater was clean, but both were surprised to see Spike and the pink pony from last night, sitting together and drinking coffee.
"Whoah!" Spike exclaimed "You actually did that !?"
"Eh... sorta." the Pink pony replied, pulling out a notebook out from her mane "but since the script has changed greatly to be a romantic comedy between the two mares, there's no way in season six that I'm going to-"
"Ahem!" Twilight interrupted.
"Oops! Spoilers!" she covered her mouth with her hooves.
"Who are you and what are you doing in my house?"
"Don't worry, Twi," Spike replied "This is-"
"Pinkie Pie, I assume?" Moondancer interrupted, putting her sweater on.
"Hey!" The pink pony replied "Don't assume everything! Assuming make an a-"
"We already meet a rainbow pegasus named Rainbow Dash, an earth pony who lives on an apple farm named Applejack, a unicorn that looks like she came from Canterlot named Rarity, and a shy pegasus who must've been laughed at when she was born called Fluttershy. I'm sure I'm safe to assume you're Pinkie Pie and not something else named 'Maud'." She gasped
"How'd you know my sister's name!?"
"I don't."
"Well... shoot! What's my line!?" she pulled the notebook out. "Let's see here... you both wake up together... love song... coffee with Spike... address old Mane 6 members... ah! You... are... double... right... there... Moonprancer-I mean-Dancer." both Twilight and Moondancer stared at each other for a few seconds, then back to Pinkie. "Hey! Don't say my name to the audience yet! 'Suspension of Disbelief', remember?"
"So... are you Pinkie Pie?"
"Oh! You are double right there Moonprancer-I mean-Dancer!"
"...You just said that." Twilight spoke.
"Oh! Shoot, I went a couple of lines ahead! What am I suppose to do now?" She looked over the notes again. "It says that I'm suppose to listen to you both apologize on Celestia's behalf."
"... Okay! I'm officially creeped out!" Moondancer yelled
"Really? I thought Twilight was when you woke up cuddling with her?"
"What the-!?" Twilight yelled "How did you-?"
"Oh shoot! Not again!!! Oh, this would be so much easier if I read my script! Quickly, what do I do!?" Pinkie jumped in the air and stuck her tongue out, meeping two times before disappearing in a pink cloud and running out of the front door in a blur. "Not gonna argue with that! MEEP-MEEP !!!" Both Twilight and Moondancer stared in complete silence and shock at what happened. Spike, though with them, finished his cup of coffee before getting up.
"So," he spoke, breaking the silence. "What did Moondacer talk about, Twilight?" Twilight groaned to herself, slamming her head on the table.
"Just get me some coffee."
"Me too." Moondancer added, sitting next to Twilight. Twilight scooted a few inches away. "But I'd like mine to have some of that creamer."
"Ah, you and me!" Spike replied, making their coffee. "But... I do have a question."
"Lay it on me."
"How did you meet Twilight?" Twilight groaned again, slumping below the table.
"Ah! It was Taco Tuesday back in Celestia's school for gifted unicorns..."
Celestia's mother opened her checklist and checked out some things.
"Another for Pinkie breaking the 4th wall... and one for a Looney Tunes reference! Jees, I wonder what happens next? My bits are on for another Monty Python reference. Though... I better tell my daughter that she can't do EVERY thing she planned." She pulled out a scroll and a quill.
Dear Sunbutt,
I saw everything that happened, and I will have a word with you in self defense and that you should lay off the cake, but I'm here to remind you that not everything you have planned will work for Twilight and her new friends. So, as much as I loved seeing you troll them with only two tickets to the gala, despite knowing there's six, they all already have a ticket to the gala. Basically, this is a life lesson for you and Luna, but there's moments where you can sit down and take all the when you know others have done it for you. I have in the other world when I made you. Also, tell Luna to not torture herself with a Tantibus; She's only been Nightmare Moon for at least a day in total hours, and the only bad thing she did was get very little screen time. And, as an extra thing, teach your soldiers how to fight! You probably won't get this, but they're like storm troopers; they look menacing as a whole, but they're as effective as ants against an elephant. As mentioned, you should lay off the cake and invest into your soldiers: your flank has gotten bigger and you've packed the pounds!
Sincerely,
Mother.
Celestia read the letter as she picked out the dead skin off of her body with the help of some of her soldiers. She groaned to herself, as her mother was, though laid back, very critical over their lifestyle & choices.
"Thanks mom." she spoke to herself sarcastically. "LUNA!!!"
"...What!?" Luna's voice asked down the hall.
"Get over here!"
"...Can't!"
"Why not!?"
"... I'm molting back to my original self!"
"Get over here!" Luna moaned to herself, exiting out of the hallway and to the throne room. Luna's flank area was going back to it's original self as was the tip of her tail, but everything else was the same.
"What!? I'm busy here!"
"It's a letter from mother."
"Ooh! Are you in ~Trouble~?"
"No, not really. Mother wanted me to tell you to not make a Tantibus to torture yourself."
"But I feel so guilty!"
"Feel guilty!? Luna, you were Nightmare Moon for at least a day! The only bad thing you did was lat ponies sleep in, that's it!"
"...Fine. I guess you both have a point. But what do I do?"
"... I don't know. Go into other ponies dreams and interrupt their privacy, perhaps learn something new, or just go outside and do something! I have a long way to go before I can do anything."
"Same thing here!" She left the throne room, leaving a trail of fur behind as she brushed herself. Celestia sighed to herself, looking down and poking at her belly.
"Do you think I look fat?" The workers around her stopped working and froze, looking to each other, sweating in fear.
Author's Note
Hey there! Did I do good!? Did I!? Huh-huh-huh!?
Pinkie, please, stop breaking the 4th wall, okay?
I don't break it, I fold it like a blanket around me to keep me warm.
Look, Pinkie, get back to the story and TRY to read your script, okay? In fact, how are you even here!?
Your front door was open, silly!
... Great. Better lock the door now.
Celestia's mother opened her eyes and yawned loudly, stretching and cracking her bones that, if anypony were around, they'd certainly go deaf. She conjured up her dimension watching device.
"Dang, whoever know that One Punch Mare would be such an addicting Anime!" she commented to herself, flipping through the various dimensions she made & left. "Let's see here... wait a minute... it's been that long!? Oh me! I gotta see what happened!" She began watching the past on what happened involving Twilight and her, not-so-lover, Moondancer.
Both Twilight and Moonadancer stood outside Carousel Boutique. Almost immediately, after moving in, Spike caught sight of Rarity and instantly had a crush on the unicorn. While Moondancer found it cute, Twilight couldn't stop thinking that this was some sort of metaphor with her relationship with Moondancer, even if they were the same species and around the same age.
"So Twilight," Moondancer spoke "Are you enjoying Ponyville?"
"... We've only been here a week." Twilight replied "So far, everypony seems nice, but it is... different."
"Use to Canterlot?"
"Use to it? I was raised in there since I was a filly, and so was Spike."
"Yeah, but at least Spike is having fun here. Yesterday, he and some colts were playing together, acting like the Pony Rangers."
"Pony Rangers? Don't you mean the Power Ponies?"
"You've never heard of the Pony Rangers!?"
"...Apparently. Who are they?"
"...Okay, well, this is actually a manga series that's imported from Neighpan, but it has-" A green glow with Spike's noticeable belch heard. Rarity's loud scream was heard.
"Hold that thought." Twilight charged into the Boutique. "Spike! Come on! Let's get you-" Twilight was silenced as Rarity came to her and hugged her.
"Thank you, Twilight!" Rarity exclaimed like a filly. "Thankyouthankyouthankyou!!!" Twilight stared confused.
"Thank me for what?"
"Why, for getting me tickets to the grand galloping gala of course!" she squeed. "Finally! I can finally meet... him!"
"Him?" Moondancer asked.
"Him! Prince Blueblood! Why, I can see it now: I would stroll through the gala, and everyone would wonder, "Who is that mysterious mare?" They would never guess that I was just a simple pony from little old Ponyville. Why, I would-"
"Don't." Lemon Hearts interrupted. Walking through the front door, Lemon Hearts came walking in.
"Lemon Hearts?" Twilight asked "What are you doing here?"
"I was going to see my latest dress, but overheard Rarity talk about the grand galloping gala."
"But what do you mean by 'Don't'?" Rarity asked
"Simple. All those things you heard about Blue-Blood, how he's the prince of anymares dreams? Sorry, but those mares are lying to somepony they dislike a lot, because Blueblood is a nightmare made from Tartarus." Rarity stared at Lemon Hearts.
"Uh... you can't be really serious. I mean, maybe he's a bit exaggerated, but I can work with-"
"There's nothing redeeming about him. I work with him, and you would not BELIEVE how much of a jerk he is! Were it not for his title as a prince, then I'm certain that you, me, and every other mare that has or will want to meet or work with, would like to punch his pretty face until it looks like that ugly statue in the Canterlot castle!" Rarity blinked, then levitated her ticket to her face.
"Well... are there any other princes around?"
"Nope. But if you ask me, bring your dresses along and impress the nobles there. You'll get more business and, perhaps in a few months, you'll get a store in Canterlot." Rarity's eyes widened with glimmer.
"A store... in Canterlot?"
"That is what you wanted, right?"
"Oh my yes! Yes!!! It's always what I wanted!!! Why on earth did I want to meet that Blue-Blooded character in the first place? ...Wait, how did you know I want a store in Canterlot?"
"It's not that hard; the style of your mane, the store you have, and your personality all read Canterlot to me."
"Oh, well thank you, Darling. I suppose you want the second ticket to the Gala?"
"Second ticket?" Twilight and Moondancer asked in unison.
"Oh that's right." She held up a second golden ticket. "I was given two tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala, one for me and a friend of mine. Oh, I wish I could take you all, but I only have one."
"But... we already have one." Twilight replied.
"Oh, you do? Well... perhaps I should give this to-"
"Hello~ Everypony!" Pinkie's excited voice was heard as the pink mare bounced in. "Hello Lemon Hearts, hello, lovebirds, hello Rarity, hello secondgoldentickettothegrandgallopinggallasentbyCelestiaasajokeforalesson." She paused. "... A TICKET FOR THE GRAND GALLOPING GALA!?!?!?"
"You know of the Grand Galloping Gala?"
"Who hasn't!? It's the most amazing incredible tremendous super-fun wonderful terrifically humongous party in all of Equestria! I've always-"
"It isn't." Lemon Hearts interrupted again. Pinkie stood like a statue, her expression going from extreme joy to a confused look.
"What? But I was gonna sing a song regarding my joy for the-"
"Yeah, it isn't the joyful experience you're thinking of. It's really more of a... long, boring social party where representatives of their businesses go to discuss their stocks and political views as a way to woo Celestia over to let them do what they want in exchange for cake." The place went silent. "Oh, and the Wonderbolts will be there, but-" The roof crashed as Rainbow Dash fell in.
"The Wonderbolts will be at the gala!?" She asked in excitement. Lemon Hearts groaned.
"Yes... the Wonderbolts will be there, but-"
"ALRIGHT!!! I'm gonna show them all my stuff so that way, I, Rainbow Dash, will be able to join them and become one of the elite fliers of-!"
"They don't do tryouts at the gala!!!" Rainbow froze and looked confused.
"Wha? But... the wonderbolts are there. Shouldn't they be-?"
"No, they don't do tryouts at the gala, at all! Many of the elite fliers are there just for the sole purpose of winning some sponsors to the Wonderbolt academy and, if they're old, still be remembered sign some autographs to some of the ponies that want their autograph, like you."
"B-But... Spitfire will be there, and they're going to perform, aren't they?"
"Yeah, at the beginning, but it's back to the floor with them and mingle with the upperclass for money. As for Spitfire, she's just there to remind Celestia of the deal they had some years ago."
"A deal?" Twilight asked
"What was it?" Moondancer asked, also intrigued.
"... I'm not suppose to say it," Lemon Hearts spoke, "but... Spitfire placed a bet to Celestia, saying that if she can live on the sun for an entire day without burning up, then Celestia will make her the face of the Wonderbolts."
"...Really?" Rainbow Dash asked
"Hey, I read it in her diary during one of my routine clean ups. You wouldn't believe the mess the animals make on a-"
"Did somepony mention animals?" Fluttershy asked, flying in gently. Lemon Hearts Groaned to herself even louder.
"Yes, Fluttershy... there are... animals, and they're all in the garden."
"Oh my, that sounds wonderful. I actually wanted to go to the Gala for that; The flowers are said to be the most beautiful and fragrant in all of Equestria. For the night of the gala, and that night alone, would they all be in bloom... and that's just the flora! Don't get me started on the fauna; There's loons and toucans and bitterns, oh my! Hummingbirds that can really hum, and buzzards that can really buzz. White-blue-"
"Yes, yes, but the animals get very timid at the Gala."
"...Timid?"
"Okay, with all the excitement going on, there's going to be a lot of loud noises that will scare the animals, both big and small. Plus, with you, I'm certain you're going to get all excited and scare them, go crazy that you can't hug one, and, bring them in, destroying the gala." Fluttershy's ears flattened on her head.
"Oh... so... I'm going to crash the party if I do go?"
"No, I'm not saying you will. I'm saying that you should be prepared if you want to do this. Unlike the rest of these ponies, yours is a bit more simplier. All you have to do is bring some treats; some fish for the carnivores, some apples for-"
"Did somepony mention apples?" Applejack asked, walking in.
"GIVE ME A BREAK!!!"
"Are those tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala?" Lemon Hearts breathed hard, but slowed down.
"Yes... they are. Wanting to make business?"
"Yep."
"Selling Apple related products?"
"Yep."
"Cider with it?"
"Uh... Nope."
"Zap Apple jam?"
"...Nope."
"Anything considered 'fancy'?" Applejack stared blankely. "Just bring the stuff I said and make everything fancy looking. Only one guy will buy from you, but that's it."
"Alrighty then."
"Okay... anypony else wanna come and add more problems!?" Silence fell. Spike rose his hand. "Yes, Spike?"
"Uh... what should I do at the Gala?" She breathed hard, but was otherwise, calm.
"Just hang out at Donut Joe's shop and read your Pony Rangers."
"...Huh... guess my plans have nothing wrong with it, then."
"We have one problem, though!" Rainbow Dash spoke. "There's five of us and only two tickets!"
"Indeed!" Rarity added "And I'm not sure if any of us want to go to the Gala anymore!" Lemon Hearts sighed again.
"Your tickets allow you to bring a plus one with you." she spoke. "It's written on the back. For the 5th one... either they get left behind or take Spike with you, since he has a ticket. And don't you two have sisters?"
"Oh shoot!" Applejack yelled "Applebloom's gotta do her chores!!!"
"And Sweetie Belle has her singing instructor!" Rarity added. The two ran out of the door. Lemon Hearts turned to the three.
"I heard you have a big fan, Rainbow Dash." She spoke.
"Who? Scootaloo?" Rainbow Dash asked "Eh, she's alright, but-"
"She's planning on making a fan club around you."
"I'M COMING, SCOOTS!!!" She flew off. She looked at the other two.
"Oh... I gotta feed Angel." Fluttershy spoke, lowering her head and trotted away.
"And I'm outta this chapter!" Pinkie added, floating away with some balloons. Twilight and Moondancer stared as Lemon Hearts let out a sigh of relief.
"...What plans do you have for the Gala?" Moondancer asked
"Eh, try to find a way to ruin it." Lemon Hearts replied "Celestia hates it as much as me, so I'll find a way to crash it. You can join me if you want."
"Uh... thanks, but no thanks." Twilight replied "I'll be with Celestia-"
"She'll be too busy for you, Twilight. Just hang out with everyone else."
"Oh... what will they be doing?"
"Lyra will spread her words about Humans, Minuette will most likely abduct people to check their teeth as Colegate, and Twinkleshine... she'll probably be the only normal one at the Gala. So... bored. Come on, let's get outta here before somepony beleive we're breaking and entering." Without much of a word muttered, they left Rarity's home/store, closing the door behind them.
Celestia's mother watched with a blank expression.
"Well... that was... something." she commented "Hopefully, the season finale will pay off. Ooh! Extra scene!!!"
Flash Sentry stood near the doorway of her father's house.
"For the last time," his father spoke behind the door. "No! You're not going to take the ship!"
"But dad," Flash replied "My destiny is probably ruined!"
"Destiny!? Fah! You don't let the stars determine it, you make it!"
"Yeah, I made it by following the stars, now they broke, and I'm following your footsteps!"
"Oh, so you wanna be a dancer like me?"
"What!? No! As a sky Pirate! Our ancestors were legends! Let me continue that tradition! And... a dancer?" The door opened and Flash's father came before him. His father had a more yellow coat than his son, but they had the same mane color. His father wore a black, leather jacket with studs, and hoof rings around his forelegs, matching his jacket. He also wore Mascara . Flash stared at his father in awkward silence.
"What!? I got a job as a backup dancer for Countess Coloratura."
"And... you're fine with... this?" He gestured to his father
"... Yes."
"...okay... alright, how about this: if I take my little brother along, then will you give me the ship?"
"...Eh, alright, but I'll be watching you! And reading about you! If you get caught, I have no idea who you are, got it?"
"Gotcha! I won't disappoint!"
"Eh, whatever. The ship's here," he gave his son a map "and you're going to need a crew. Know anyone that'd join?"
"I can think of at least a dozen."
"Good. Well, see ya! If you have the time, check out the Countess's performance in Neighpan. The writer and illustrator of the Pony Rangers will be there, so that should make your brother happy."
"Yes... even if he's the only one who can understand Neighpaneese."
"Ooh! I can't wait for the next episode!" Celestia's mother commented, conjuring up her completed Manga collection of the Pony Rangers series. "Dang... who knew this would sell like hotcakes?"

Wow, I've been distracted.
How do you like them Apples?
It was another lovely day in Ponyville. Many of the ponies were tending their daily jobs, and Twilight & her friends did what they had to do. The ground, however, shook, and a loud rumble was heard.
"Uh oh!" Moondancer spoke "What's going on?"
"STAMPEDE!!!" Rainbow Dash yelled. At the mention, everyone in town panicked, running into their homes or just running in the street, screaming their heads off. That is, until Applejack and her dog, a brown & white collie named Winona, saved the town as the two made the stampeding herd of Cows run the other way. The town quickly cheered for their hero.
"That was pretty fast." Twilight commented
"Ooh! This calls for a party!!!" Pinkie spoke, seemingly appearing out of nowhere between the two unicorns.
"A party?" Moondancer asked
"Yeah! To Celebrate Applejack saving the town!"
"Figures."
"And~! I figure that one of you should give a speech about Applejack's heroic actions." Mayor Mare, a light amber mare with a white & gray striped mane, spoke "Now, which of you two lovely sisters will give the speech?" Twilight and Moondancer groaned.
"We're not sisters!" They spoke in unison, shaking their hooves.
"...Then why do you-?"
"It's a long story." Twilight spoke, then turned to Moondancer. "Alright, we'll flip a-"
"You can do the speech." Moondancer interrupted.
"...What?"
"Yeah. Do it. I've never really been the crowd talking pony." She turned and walked away "I'll get those cue cards ready for you, though!"
A week later...
Twilight stood on the podium, preparing Moondancer's cue cards. Nearly all of the town was there, all except for the foals at school right now.
"Welcome, Everypony," Twilight introduced today, we are here to honor a pony that we can always count on, no matter how great or minuscule. A pony's who contributions lead to-"
"Did you see Applejack's slick moves out there!?" Lyra spoke, poking out "What an athlete! This week she's gonna help me-!"
"Lyra! Get off the stage, now!!!" A cream colored earth pony mare with a pink & blue curly mane stomped on stage.
"But Bon Bon, AJ's gonna-"
"I don't care what AJ's gonna do! Get off now! Nopony believe your human thing until there's evidence, and unless you can show it, get off!"
"...But B-"
"OFF!!!" Lyra's head & ears lowered, and she walked off. Bon Bon turned to the crowd "Sorry for that, everypony." She followed Lyra.
"... Oh-kay," Twilight said, unsure on what just happened. "Now if I could just make a point without being inter-"
"Twilight?" Twinkleshine spoke, peeking out
"rupted.
"I'm so sorry, but I just wanted to mention that Applejack is also Fluttershy and I this week with the official bunny census, where we count up all the new baby bunnies that were born this season. She's gonna help gather them using her wonderful herding skills.
"Anyone else?... Anyone?... No?... Well then, as I was trying to say..." Mayor Mare stood there. Twilight's time on stage was up. "Urgh! Never mind." She marched off and stood next to Moondancer & Spike.
"Hey, it's okay." Moondancer spoke "Remember when I tried to give that presentation about the possibilities that could happen if somepony made a spell that divided by zero?"
"...No."
"...Oh."
"Good Try." Spike whispered
"Ah-ahem. And so, with no further ado," Mayor Mare spoke "it is my privilege to give the prize, Pony of Ponyville Award, to our beloved guest of honor, a pony of the utmost trustworthiness, reliability, and integrity. Ponyville's most capable and dependable friend: Applejack!" The crowd cheered as the curtains opened, but quickly died as the farm pony wasn't there, but her trophy.
"Ah'm here." The Farm Pony announced "I'm here." She let out a yawn. "Sorry I'm late--whoa--I was just... whoa... Did I get your tail?" She got onto the stage "Miss Mayor. Thank ya'll kindly for this here... award thingy." another yawn. "It's so bright and shiny and, heh, heh heh, I sure do look funny heh. Ooo-ooo." She was joined by Pinkie, with both mares leaning in & out. Twilight got onstage again and spoke.
"Okay. Well, thank you Applejack for saving us from that scary stampede, and always being there for everypony." Applejack let out another yawn.
"Yeah. I like helping the ponyfolks and" yawn "and stuff." She closed her eyes and snored asleep for a few seconds, then shooke herself awake "Oh, uh, yeah. Uh, Thanks." She dragged the trophy with her. Twilight walked offstage.
"Was it just me, or did Applejack seem a little-
"Tired?" Moondancer asked
"Dizzy?" Twinkleshine added
"Messy?" Lemon Hearts added as well
"She seemed fine to me." Minuette said.
"Is it the teeth?" Lyra asked.
"...Ja."
"Well, I guess we better pay her a visit." Moondancer said.
"Agreed." Twilight simply remarked, walking ahead. Moondancer turned to Spike. He gave her a thumbs up.
At Sweet Apple Acres, Twilight and Moondancer saw Applejack bucking at an Apple tree... but missing with each buck.
"What on Earth is that pony doing?" Twilight asked
"Bucking Apples." Moondacer replied.
"I know that, but... she's not doing so well."
"Well, let's see what's up." The two approached to the farm pony.
"Hey Applejack!" Unfortunately, the apple mare stood and snored. "Applejack. Applejack? Apple-" Moondancer shoved her hoof in Twilight's mouth.
"Oh, I see the problem." Twilight spat Moondancer's hoof out.
"And that is?"
"She's tired. My best guess... her relatives are all either sick or injured."
"Yeah, ALL of them are sick."
"Hey, let's go to the barn and see." Moondancer lead the way.
"But what about Applejack?"
"Let her get the needed sleep." Twilight looked at the sleeping pony for a bit, but followed Moondancer.
The two arrived at the barn, seeing an elderly green mare sitting on a rocking chair, and a large stallion wrapped with bandages around the waist. The rest of the family was gone.
"Huh... seems pretty empty." Twilight commented. Moondancer walked to the two.
"Uh, excuse me?" she spoke "Hello, I'm Moondancer, and I'd like to-"
"Well lookey here, Big Mac!" The elderly mare spoke "We got us some cute twins here!"
"Twins!? Oh, nonono, we aren't related at all, and we've come to-"
"Not related? Then why do ya'll look the same? Is it what them young fellers are doin' nowadays?" The stallion shrugged.
"No, please, listen! It's about Applejack, she's-"
"Is she goin' on 'bout her ticket to the Grand Galloping Gala!? She needs to learn that we got Zap Apple Jam and Cider season gonna start soon." Moondancer groaned in annoyance.
"Eeyup." The stallion simply answered.
"Oh thank Celestia! Please! Can you help her!?"
"Nope."
"No!? Why not!?" He pointed at his injury.
"...Oh... Well, can you try to get her to listen!? I've seen this before."
"You have?" Twilight asked.
"Of course... but in a different way. Some ponies pull all nighters to get info in their heads for important tests, speeches, or even for fun. Let's just say I had a couple before and... well... I got the A, but had some embarrassing nights afterwards."
"...You didn't seem so tired during those speeches, as far as I can remember."
"Well, Twilight, that's because I use the same thing we all do."
"...You don't mean-?"
"I do."
"Why not use that with Applejack?"
"... Why didn't I think of that? Do you have a coffee machine!?"
"Eeyup." The stallion answered.
"Twilight! Get to the library and pull out my special mix! This is gonna help Applejack in the longrun... up until 5 PM."
"COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE!!!" Applejack repeated, running around as an orange blur, bucking all the apples easily. Big Mac, Twilight, and Moondancer stood at the side, both mares drinking from their own cups of coffee, surprised to see how Applejack was acting.
"I'm very surprised to see Applejack work like this." Twilight spoke.
"I'm surprised that you have a coffee machine, yet never use it." Moondancer said to Big Mac. He shrugged at the remark.
"You think this is actually a good idea?"
"Of course. By her speed, she's been getting at least seventeen trees per second, so her job will be over in three... two... one." Applejack ran and stopped to the three.
"I FINISHED!!!" She cheered loudly. "I DID THE WHOLE ORCHARD BY MY OWN DARN SELF!!! I'M THE BEST FARM PONY EVER!!!" She began to run in circles. "WHAT TO DO!?!?!? WHAT TO DO!?!?!?"
"...When does she crash begin?" Twilight asked. Moondancer pulled out a watch.
"About now." As soon as she said it, Applejack fell face first into the dirt and snored away. Big Mac walked to his sister and lifted her, putting her on his back. "Oh! Big Mac!?" He froze and turned to Moondancer.
"Eeyup."
"How did you get injured?"
"...Stampede." He turned and walked away.
"... Think he's lying?" Twilight asked
"He's a farmer," Moondancer replied, both turning and walking back to town. "Farmers aren't exactly known for their lying skills."
Back with Faust, she continued floating in space, finishing a slice of pizza.
"You may not know that, Moondancer," she said "But I do! You are such a liar, Big Mac. Be glad I don't tell them that you got a punch from Snowflake... or was his name Bulk Biceps? Argh! Stupid names for thirduary characters."
