Snagging

Jake held a book in his hands as he read over the words on the page. Twilight sat across from him munching down a sandwich. They were outside at one of the local cafes. The ponies of Ponyville had gotten used to Jake after Pinkie's party, which Jake loved. But he hadn't revealed his Pokemon to any pony outside the mane six and Spike. Ponies were still afraid about Pokemon. So Jake kept his team secret but let them run around the library when Twilight had it closed up and when he went over to Fluttershy's for visits.

Fluttershy had taken her job as Jake's nurse serious. She had made notes about the health of his Pokemon as to know what to check when Jake brought them in. She also still was making Jake's Pokemon food. So Jake had everything he needed to make sure his Pokemon were fed and healthy though he wondered how he could expand out his team. But he had no idea how that was even possible since Pokemon didn't roam around Eques.

Jake closed the book and set it down before stretching out his body.

"Twilight can I ask you something." Said Jake

"Sure." Said Twilight

"I've noticed that there aren't many stallions in Ponyville. Mind telling me why." Said Jake

"Well Jake, the reason is the birth rate of colts. You see the birth rate for colts in only 25%, while filly birth rate is 75%. So to compensate for this Celestia has allowed stallions to create herds. You see a herd is one stallion to the ratio of mares. The rate at this point right now is six mares to one stallion. So in turn, herds are 6:1. The reason for these herds is to raise the stallion population hopefully." Said Twilight

"Huh, well that's interesting." Said Jake

"So what is back on your planet?" Asked Twilight

"Well, back on Earth the ratio of male to female is half for each. It is also the rate for the gender of babies born. So humans stay in monogamy relationships." Said Jake

"Fascinating to think your people don't have to worry about the male population." Said Twilight

Jake just laughed to himself a little at how anything about his world could get a sparkle of desire for knowledge from Twilight. Jake just looked at the sky as he watched the pegasi flying around. I wonder what it would be like to fly through the air. I wish I had a Flying Type Pokemon so it could learn the move fly and let me swore through the sky. Jake was pulled from the heavens when he heard Twilight clear her throat.

"What are thinking about?" Asked Twilight

"Just what it would be like to soar through the sky." Said Jake

"Aren't humans able to fly?" Asked Twilight

"Sort of Twilight as you can see, we humans don't have wings like pegasi. But we did build machines called airplanes that do allow us to fly. We even made rockets, which enabled us to go into space and land on the moon." Said Jake

"Your people keep impressing me with each thing you tell me especially when you don't even have magic on your planet." Said Twilight

"I wouldn't say that is true. I believe the human imagination is our magic as it allows up to invent new things." Said Jake

"An interesting way to look at magic." Said Twilight

"Ha, yeah." Said Jake

The two had laughed a little before Jake spoke up again.

"Twilight how would the ponies of Ponyville react when I show them, my Pokemon team." Said Jake

"Why ask a question like that?" Asked Twilight

"Because, I feel that one day, I will have to show that I use Pokemon. I'm just wondering how the ponies would react." Said Jake

"I wish I knew Jake. Sure some ponies are still afraid of you even after Pinkie's party. But seeing you with Pokemon might scare them no matter what they think. But if that time comes, my friends and I will stand next to you." Said Twilight

"Thanks, Twilight, that means a lot." Said Jake

"Hey, you have proven to my friends and me you aren't like Team Catastrophe. You mean no harm to ponies or any creature of this planet. You are here to help us fight back against a threat that we can't fight. Maybe in time ponies will accept your Pokemon. But it will take time for the ponies of Ponyville to come around." Said Twilight

"In time is probably right." Said Jake

Jake leaned back as Twilight went back to eating her sandwich, but could see Jake was still uneasy. She placed her hoof gently onto his hand that rested on the table for support. Jake looked back at her as she looked at him.

"Jake, you need to stop worrying. My friends and I will never turn our backs on you. We will still be your friends no matter what happens when you show off your Pokemon." Said Twilight

"Thank you, Twilight." Said Jake

The two kept looking at each other before they started to break up and rub their necks with blush coming across their faces.

"That is too cute."

They both looked over to see Discord. Discord had a broad smile on his face and a wiggle in his eyebrow as he looked at Twilight and Jake.

"Discord what are you doing here?" Asked Twilight with a blush still across her face.

"Oh just watching the fun little show. If I knew you two would touch hands, I would have come at a later time." Said Discord

"Please Discord. Twilight was just trying to settle my concerns." Said Jack

"I'm sure that was what was happening," said Discord with a wiggle of his eyebrow.

Twilight looked away as more blush came across her face. Jake just pinched the bridge of his nose as Discord just laughed.

"I swear you take such a beautiful moment and turn it into something else." Said Jake

"What can I say." said Discord

Jake just shook his head at Discord. But they all perked up when they heard screaming. Soon Rarity and Applejack came running up as ponies ran for their lives.

"Rarity and Applejack, what the hay is going on?" Asked Twilight

"Team Catastrophe are here and attacking." Said Rarity

"Partner we could use your help and that team of yours." Said Applejack

Jake looked at the ponies around him, and the ponies that were running around like crazy. His gaze went down to Twilight, and she looked up at him. He looked deeply into her lavender eyes. I knew what he had to do. Jake clenched his fist as he looked at Discord.

"Discord, I'm going to need my stuff." Said Jake

Discord snapped his fingers, and Jake grabbed a bag that appeared. Jake opened the bag to see his Aura Reader, Snag Machine, and his Pokemon. He took out each and placed them on his body. Once he was ready, he looked at the ponies in front of him.

"Let's go save Ponyville." Said Jake

Jake, Applejack, Rarity, Twilight and Discord headed towards the center of Ponyville. When they arrived, they saw some of the buildings destroyed and a smoke figure laughing at the destruction and the scared ponies that were around. Jake stopped and placed his hand up to keep the girls back. He and Discord walked forward and stood in front of the Team Catastrophe member. The scared ponies watched as the two walked forward.

"Hey." Team Catastrophe member turned to see Jake and Discord. "Stop attacking and harming these innocent ponies."

"Oh, so you're the hero one of our grunts talked about." Said the Team Catastrophe member in a female voice.

"That's right. I'm Jake the Pokemon Trainer." Said Jake

The Team Catastrophe member had given a smile before the smoke started to disappeared. Jake cocked his head to the side but rubbed his eyes as he watched a human female appear. But she wasn't just an average human female. The Team Catastrophe member was a cat girl. She had black ears and a black tail. Her clothing was a bra with a cat head in the middle and a skirt that happily showed her panties. Jake had to rub his eyes a few more times to make sure he wasn't hallucinating. Man, she is hot. But once she opened her eyes, they were completely black with red pupils. Jake was pushed back by that. That's total blew it for me.

"Ha, I see you're surprised of by my body." She said

"You can say that." Said Jake

"By the way, you were eating up her body. I would say so too." Said Discord

"She is nice looking, but those eyes destroyed for it for me." Said Jake

"Sorry, but I'm not your type anyhow. I prefer men with a little more evil in them." Said the Team Catastrophe member

"Enough talk about this, now who are you?" Asked Jake

"Team Catastrophe calls me Kitty. But enough talk, Jake, it's time for you to lose." Said Kitty

"Will see about that." Said Jake

"Interesting. The grunt we fought a few days ago was only able to create smoke human body. But Kitty can create a full human body, even though she has a few cat features and some strange eyes." Said Discord

"Enough talk, time to fight." Said Kitty

Kitty brought out her hand a Poke Ball appeared in her hand. She tossed it out, and it opened up to reveal a Fennekin. Jake pressed the Aura Reader and pointed it at Fennekin. He could see the stats of Fennekin, but also a strange black aura surrounding the Pokemon. What is that aura around Fennekin? It wasn't on Porygon when I fought the grunt back in the forest.

"It's called a Shadow Aura." Said Discord

"You read my mind again didn't you." Said Jake

"Beside the point, a Shadow Aura is when a Pokemon hasn't entirely turned into a Shadow Pokemon. In terms, the Pokemon can still turn to the side of good." Said Discord

"Interesting, which means I could use it for my team." Said Jake

"That's right." Said Discord

"Wait, how do I even get my hands on Fennekin." Said Jake

"Your Snag Machine is how you will do it. But you need to weaken Fennekin, but not defeat it. When Fennekin has taken enough damage, you can send a Poke Ball to catch it." Said Discord

"Are two quite done with your chit chat. Come on Jake, show me what you got." Said Kitty

"Sure am, now let's see what you go kitty cat." Jake scrolled his Pokemon and landed on Zorua. He grabbed her Poke Ball and looked at it. Jake knew no matter what the ponies thought. He still had friends. "Go, Zorua."

The Poke Ball opened, and Zorua appeared in front of Zorua.

"Zorua."

The ponies gasped as they saw Jake send out a Pokemon. They started to talk about him, but Jake ignored it as he kept his head in the fight. Discord looked down at him and smiled.

"Oh, how cute. Let's see what that Pokemon can do." Said Kitty

"Well then, let me show you. Zorua, start out with Quick Attack." Said Jake

Zorua ran at Fennekin at high speeds and struck Fennekin straight in the head. Fennekin rolled on the ground, and Zorua happily landed on the ground. Kitty growled at Zorua had gotten a Quick Attack onto Fennekin.

"Now Zorua, Tackle Fennekin." Said Jake

"I don't think so, Fennekin, Tackle as well." Said Kitty

Fennekin ran at Zorua as Zorua ran at Fennekin. The two jumped into the air and struck each other's heads. The two landed hard onto the ground. Both sides growled. Jake saw that Zorua had a small amount of her health disappear. Damn, why would she send tell Fennekin to attack Zorua.

"Zorua, Quick Attack." Said Jake

Zorua started to speed up to strike Fennekin. Fennekin waited for its order, but it never came. Zorua hit Fennekin making it roll on the ground. Fennekin stopped in front of Kitty. Kitty looked down as Fennekin looked up.

"Get up and get out there." Said Kitty

Fennekin slowly got up and moved back into the fight.

"Tackle." Said Kitty

Fennekin slowly moved forward, but couldn't get up enough speed to strike Zorua. Zorua jumped out of the way as Fennekin just fell to the ground. Jake saw that Fennekin was weak enough. I believe it is time to take Fennekin from Team Catastrophe.

"Discord, I need a Poke Ball." Said Jake

"Snag Machine is already loaded. All you need to do it press the button on the side of your Snag Machine to bring up a ball. Then let it go." Said Discord

Jake touched the button, and the center of the Snag Machine lit up. Soon a Poke Ball appeared, and Jake held it tight. Jake pulled back his arm and tossed the Poke Ball.

"Go Poke Ball! Snag that Pokemon!" Said Jake

The Poke Ball flew through the air and landed on Fennekin. Fennekin was brought up into the Poke Ball. It fell to the ground and began to shake. Jake chewed the end of his lip as he waited for the ball to stop rocking. He let go of the breath he was holding when the Poke Ball finished shaking. Jake walked forward and picked it up. He looked at it but turned his attention back to Kitty as she laughed.

"I do thank you for taking that weak Fennekin off my hands." Said Kitty

"How could you ever say a thing like that?" Said Jake

"It's easy. Team Catastrophe accepts only powerful Shadow Pokemon. That Fennekin was barely acceptable, so I was going to get rid of her anyhow. Now if you want to see a pure Shadow Pokemon, let me show you to one of my cats." Said Kitty

Another Poke Ball appeared in Kitty's hands. She tossed it up in the air, and the Pokemon appeared in front of Kitty. It was a Shadow Purrlion. Jake looked through and felt his eyes widen. No way! Jake couldn't believe his eyes, Purrloin's attack state was higher than the others.

"By that look on your face, you realized how powerful a real Shadow Pokemon is. Now my cat will happily use your Zorua as a scratching post. Go! Use Shadow Claw." Said Kitty

Purrloin ran on her hind legs as dark claws appeared on its paws.

"Zorua dodge." Said Jake

Zorua jumped away, but Purrloin kept up her attacks. Zorua kept dodging, but Jake just growled. No way Zorua can keep this up. Zorua soon was struck by one of the Shadow Claws. Attacks kept hitting Zorua as Jake watched. There was no break for him to give Zorua a new command.

"Finish that Zorua with a Shadow Ball." Said Kitty

Purrloin charged a Shadow Ball and sent it flying towards Zorua. Zorua was still reeling from Purrloins first attack. It struck Zorua, and she hit the ground and came to a stop next to Jake. Jake watched as her health bar reached nearly depleted. He gently got down and picked up Zorua.

"Zor, Zorua."

"You did great Zorua." Said Jake

Fluttershy flew over and took Zorua.

"Thanks." He said

Fluttershy took Zorua over to the girls. Fluttershy ordered Rainbow to head towards her home and get her medkits. In a minute Rainbow had Fluttershy's med kit for Zorua. Fluttershy had made medkits for each of the Pokemon since each one was different. Jake watched the whole thing before looking back at Kitty with a faint smile on her face and Shadow Purrloin. Zorua was knocked out by attacks that are the same as she is. That tells me this is one robust Purrloin.

"Jake, we need to watch that Purrloin, it could easily beat your whole team." Said Discord

"I realize that, but how do I fight that." Said Jake

"It will be a tough uphill battle, but you can do it. I know you will figure it out." Said Discord

"What's wrong Jake, cat got your tongue," said Kitty laughing.

"Nope." Said Jake

He flicked through his Aura Reader and landed on Mareep. Mareep does know Thunder Wave, which means I could paralyze Purrloin. Jake smiled as he took Mareep's Poke Ball.

"Go Mareep." Said Jake

Mareep appeared now in the battle.

"Mareep."

"He has another one." Said a pony

"How many does he have?" Said a pony

Jake heard the ponies talking about him, but he just ignored them. He had to concentrate on the battle at hand. He couldn't risk getting Mareep hurt.

"Ha, you think that sheep is going to hurt my Purrloin." Said Kitty

"I think you should learn not to underestimate my Pokemon team. Mareep, use Thunder Wave." Said Jake

"Mareep."

Mareep's tail had glowed before it shot it at Purrloin. It didn't do much at first, but Purrloin took a knee as static came off of it. Jake smiled as his Aura Reader told Jake shock wave had paralyzed Purrloin.

"Use Tackle Mareep." Said Jake

Mareep ran forward and struck Purrloin. Purrloin tried to get up but fell back down. Purrloin still was dealing with the effects of the move Thunder Wave.

"Purrloin, get over it and fight." Said Kitty

"Mareep, take down that Purrloin. Tackle once again." Said Jake

Mareep ran at Purrloin and struck it with another Tackle. Purrloin slid and shook itself which made Kitty smile.

"Purrloin, Shadow Ball." Said Kitty

Purrloin charged a Shadow Ball and sent it towards Mareep.

"Mareep, dodge that attack." Said Jake

Mareep was able to dodge the Shadow Ball just as it made contact with the ground. Jake growled as a Shadow Ball had nearly hit his Mareep. That was too close. I need a plan since I can't use Thunder Wave again, and paralyzation only appears at certain times. Jake thought about everything he could use and watched as a new move appeared for Mareep.

"Mar, Mar, Mareep."

"It seems Mareep knows you are in a pickle." Said Discord

"Like I told Fluttershy if I stand for my Pokemon they stand for me. Now Mareep, let's show Kitty how stronger we are. Use Thunderbolt." Said Jake

"Mareep."

Mareep's tail once again glowed as it charged electricity. Once Mareep had enough power charged up, Mareep pointed her tail at Purrloin. Bolts of electricity shot out of Mareeps tail, hitting Purrloin.

"Purrloin."

"Purrloin, no!" Said Kitty

Purrloin fell to the ground, but it wasn't over yet.

"Mareep, Tackle." Said Jake

Mareep ran forward and struck Purrloin. The Tackle was perfect, and Purrloin rolled onto the ground and stopped. It didn't move, and the spiral sat in Purrloins eyes.

"We won!" Said Jake

"Mareep!"

"Well done." Said Discord

"Hooray." Said Pinkie

"Don't celebrate too early." Kitty returned Purrloin to its Poke Ball. "You have only beaten a grunt and one of the commanders of Team Catastrophe. You haven't stopped our plans for world domination."

Kitty returned to her smoke form and disappeared. Jake sighed as it was over, but let the words of Kitty sink in. So she isn't the only commander Team Catastrophe has. But what are their plans for world domination? Jake felt something nudging his leg, and he saw Mareep. He rubbed her head.

"You did great." Said Jake

"Mareep."

Jake saw the ponies look at him with fear in their eyes. I suppose it's going to take a long time for them to accept my Pokemon and me. Jake brought back Mareep and started to walk back to the library with Discord and the mane six following behind him.

"Can you believe those ponies, saying those things about you, Jake. I mean, you saved use from Kitty and her Pokemon." Said Rarity

Jake, Discord and the mane six sat in the library. Back on the way to the library, ponies were speaking poorly about Jake. The mane six were disgusted by what the ponies were saying about Jake. They made it back, and Jake brought out his team, and Fluttershy went to work making sure Mareep was alright. Jake sat on the couch holding Fennekin's Poke Ball.

"Can you blame any pony, you have only seen Shadow Pokemon and Team Catastrophe using them against you. But seeing me use Pokemon started to strike that fear that I could be a member as well." Said Jake

"Oh please Jake, you protected us and fought Team Catastrophe. So how could any pony ever think you would do the same." Said Twilight

"Fear is a powerful weapon Twilight. Team Catastrophe has placed that fear firmly in the minds of ponies." Said Discord

"But they shouldn't hate Jake for what Team Catastrophe has been doing." Said Twilight

"Twilight's it's alright. I know it will take time for the ponies of Ponyville to accept me. I'm perfectly fine with it because I know I have at least all of you as my friends." Said Jake

"Thanks, partner, we accept ya as our friend." Said Applejack

"Now to another point. Fennekin is still somewhat of a Shadow Pokemon. So how do we revert Fennekin from her Shadow Pokemon state." Said Jake

"I know exactly where to go. As not to hear more pony comments about Jake, I'll just teleport us where we need to go." Said Discord

Discord snapped his fingers, and they were gone.

The group came out, and Jake couldn't believe his eyes. Jake was looking at a massive old tree. Crystals hung down the branches. Crystal gems sat in the tree itself that were designed just like the mane six's cutie marks. The trunk had a sun and moon carved into it. In front of the tree was a flower with a box in the middle. The box had six different keyholes.

"What is this?" Asked Jake

"This is the Tree of Harmony." Said Discord

"Tree of Harmony." Said Jake

"The tree where the Elements of Harmony come from." Said Twilight

"So what's up with the box." Said Jake

"Well Jake, you see evil vines started to attack Ponyville a few months ago. You see the Tree of Harmony is here to keep the balance of harmony in Equestria. The elements came from it, but without out the elements, the tree had grown weak. So my friends and I came here and returned the elements to the tree. In return, the tree gave us this box, but my friends and I haven't to figure out how to open up the box." Said Twilight

"Interesting." Said Jake

"Jake approach the tree to purify Fennekin." Said Discord

Jake looked at Discord before approaching the tree. Jake walked forward till he stood in front of the Tree of Harmony. He watched as a flower appeared before him. It opened up, and Jake looked back at Discord who beckoned him to continue. Jake pulled out Fennekin's Poke Ball and placed it in the flower's center. The flower closed up and started to glow. A dark mist filled the flower petals. Once the light disappeared, the flower petals fell away leaving nothing but the Poke Ball. Jake took the Poke Ball and stepped away. When he as back with his friends, he tossed the ball up. It opened up to reveal Fennekin, a non-Shadow Fennekin. Jake bent down and rubbed Fennekin's head.

"Fen, Fennekin."

"Welcome aboard Fennekin." Said Jake

So yet another chapter is done. I hope you enjoy this one, as the Snag Machine is finally able to be used. So before you all go, a few quick notes. My Pokemon blog will be up tomorrow. I ran out f time today, and I am sorry for that. Next, the music for Team Catastrophe grunts and Kitty will be the same. I'll leave links here for them. Last is just a question. I enjoy playing the card game Yu-gi-oh. I was wondering if you would like me to write a Yu-gi-oh crossover with mlp ponies. Comment if you wish to see me begin this crossover. Snag Machine: A machine that allows Jake to take Team Catastrophe Pokemon that aren't complete Shadow Pokemon. Jake must first weaken the Pokemon before he can catch it.

Tree of Harmony: The tree that balances harmony all across Equestria. It allows Jake to purify a Pokemon that he snags. The purification allows him to put this Pokemon on his team and use it.
