All I Had to do was Stop

A thirty foot long bright yellow bus slowly comes to a stop. Red lights flash and a stop sign with even more lights on it sticks out of the side before the door slides open. What is a nearby driver to do? Pretty self explanatory, right? It should have been for me the day I decided to ignore the warnings. My name is Creampuff Lime and I took the life of another pony.

My whole life revolved around helping others, I could never even hurt a bug let alone one of my own kind. One day during spring break though, I decided that I was in too much of a hurry and a stopped school bus wasn't worth my time. Now, because of me, a precious little foal is dead and the town I grew up in, the town that I called home has been ripped off of its foundations and smashed to pieces. I cut short the life of a colt who had his whole life ahead of him and now I have to live with myself for the rest of my days.

On several occasions, I've been asked how I can live with myself. The answer is that I can't. Believe me, even I think the year I spent in jail was too good for the likes of me. I often thought of killing myself if it meant bringing closure to those who knew and loved that little colt. Fate would have other plans however, as I would be getting the help that I didn't deserve from a place I couldn't possibly have imagined and somepony I never expected to see. We end up becoming a pair of very unlikely friends whose hooves hold the fate of all of Upstate Manehattan and the world as we know it. This is my story. This is why I should have stopped.

Rated Mature for strong language, depictions of gore, and suicide attempts. The inspiration hit me one day when I was stopping for a school bus and a driver behind me whipped past me and nearly ran over the children getting off that bus. As an uncle with a niece who goes to school and another who will be soon, I take this very personally. Cover done by mix-up.
