Discord then appears in a news outfit “Breaking news! The royal princesses retiring! I have so many questions! Who'll take over? Who will run Equestria? Will it be someone tall, dark, and handsome? Or will it be the Lord of Chaos?” Discord then formed arrows pointing to himself before Celestia pointed at Twilight. “Oh fine go with the obvious choice.” Discord groaned before Twilight began worrying. “You're retiring?!” Twilight asked shocked. “Princesses can retire?” Spike asked confused. Princess Luna then chuckles “Of course we can. I for one am looking forward to a little R&R. Maybe a trip to Silver Shoals.” Twilight then begins speaking “And you want me to take your place?!” Princess Celestia and Princess Luna then nodded. “With the help of your friends, of course!” Luna added happily addressing Twilight’s friends. “We can't think of anypony more worthy. If not years?!” Twilight shouted scared. “Everything you've gone through over the years has been a training program.” Celestia said happily. Twilight was still worried “But there's gotta be a guide or a rulebook. Discord opens a fake book “I have it right here. ‘How to Rule Equestria’, by Nopony McPretendsmith.” “The Friendship Journal you wrote is a better guide than anything we could provide.” Luna said. Twilight begins hyperventilating. “We have the utmost confidence in you.” Celestia said happily. “And we hope you have the same in yourself.” Luna said. Twilight still hyperventilating then uses a paper bag to breath into. “Oh I am most certain she does.” Discord said with a smirk. “I am not confident about this at all.” Twilight said. “Well that’s what I thought, I was being sarcastic before.” Discord says brushing his beard with a fork. Discord then sprays his beard with a spray bottle. “Oh this is all so predictable you’re going to tell little Sparkle everything is fine but she won’t believe you and oh I do not need to be here for this.” Discord said annoyed before leaving with a poof. The Mane 5 and Spike reassure Twilight everything is gonna be okay but meanwhile... In Tartarus. “Hey Tirek.” Chrysalis said annoyed. “It is Lord Tirek and what is it now?” Tirek asked exasperated. “Oh come now since we’re in Tartarus we might as well try to get along.” Chrysalis smirked at the centaur. “Well I’m not talking to you, so deal with it.” Tirek said. The two then disappear in a flash. Meanwhile in the depths of Canterlot caves an ancient code is used and a certain red horn and green eyes appear. Pieces of the Storm King statue are teleported out of the Canterlot dump. Tirek, Chrysalis, and the Storm King are then teleported to a cave. “The Storm King you have returned, why did you bring us here?” Chrysalis asked as Tirek flared his horns. “Woah, woah let’s not get crazy I ain’t the one who brought you both here, I’m just confused as you.” Storm King waved his claws in defense. They then heard an evil laugh as a manifestation of shadows turned into King Sombra. “King Sombra you have returned, why did you bring us here?” Tirek asked. “He didn’t, but I did.” A voice said it was then shown to be a blue ram. “You may call me Grogar.” The being known as Grogar said. “The Grogar.” Chrysalis said in shock. “I’ve heard of you.” King Sombra said equally as shocked. “Woah woah I don’t know who this Grofar is, can someone explain?” Storm King asked confused at the whole thing. “I will explain but first a demonstration of power is in order.” Grogar said giving Tirek some magic to eat making him grow a bit and gain more muscle. Tirek kisses one of his muscles and explained “Grogar is ancient, an extreme legend he is one of the most villainous creatures in Equestria, I heard of his tyranny when I was young.” “I’ve also heard of Grogar, the Father Of Monsters.” King Sombra admitted. “I gave life to the most foul of creatures, they went taking everything and destroyed the rest my reign was a glorious epon of darkness in Equestria.” Grogar explained. “Until Gusty the Great rose up and banished you.” Chrysalis snarked. “That fool believed taking my bell would defeat me, but it only weakened me temporarily and now I’ve returned to seek vengeance on Equestria.” Grogar explained. “I have watched all of you fail to defeat Twilight Sparkle and her friends, and do you know why they always win?” Grogar asked. “Because they cheat.” Chrysalis said annoyed. “Because they are annoyingly lucky.” Tirek crosses his arms angrily. “I mean my fall was by Tempest so...” Storm King dragged out smiling nervously. “It’s because they work together when one is weak another is strong and when united they are unstoppable.” Grogar said. “But fortunately we are going to use their own strategy against them and rule Equestria together.” Grogar said. “I don.’the do ours I only do mine, I shall take back the Crystal Empire on my own and I will take it over for myself.” King Sombra said. “Such confidence, go take back your Empire I shall send you there myself. If you win you may keep it but when you fail you will submit to me.” Grogar said. “And if I refuse this deal?” King Sombra asks egotistically. “Then I shall return you to the darkness from where you were summoned.” Grogar said. “Fine but this is a waste of time I will crush those who defy me I will destroy all who will get in my way, I-“ King Sombra said before Grogar teleports him away. “As for the rest of you I advise you all to work together.” Grogar commands the group. “Well working together sounds like teamwork so you two are in luck because I know a lot about teamwork.” Storm King wraps his arms around Tirek and Chrysalis who roll their eyes.
EpilogueView OnlineThe Beginning Of The End RewriteEpilogueCelestia and Luna walked in to see Starlight and Discord sitting on a bunch of pillows. “Discord, Starlight are you two okay?” Luna asked very concerned. “I’m fine Luna, it’s not too much of an injury for me but for Starlight eh I’m not sure if she’s so lucky.” Discord explained. “Oh everything hurts.” Starlight groaned in agony. “Oh Celestia, I should have asked for help in the beginning, all this lead to was Discord and Starlight getting injured to help me.” Twilight said in shame. “You’re right about one thing a true leader knows when to ask for help, and while you didn’t do that you did defend your country which makes you a fine leader, I realize I may have pushed this responsiblity on you, so I’m going to wait for a few months before we retire.” Celestia told Twilight. “Oh thank goodness because I was so not prepared.” Twilight explained relieved. “Um yeah hate to ruin the moment but shouldn’t we get Starlight to y’know a hospital?” Spike asked. “Got you covered.” Discord said snapping his talons teleporting him and Starlight to the Ponyville Hospital. “Be safe Starlight.” Twilight said with a tear. Meanwhile at Grogar’s lair. “So Sombra has failed and as I said before I am bringing him back.” Grogar explained before using a spell bringing back King Sombra, “Have you learned your lesson King Sombra?” Grogar asked in a knowing tone. “Yes Grogar I now see we must work together to achieve our goals.” King Sombra admitted a bit annoyed. “Perfect, let the planning stage begin, mwahahahahahahahahahaha.” Grogar evilly laughed.

Spike saw both mares blushing and put two and two together and smiled. Once the two stopped hugging Twilght then spoke with Starlight. “Well Starlight you have grown into a kind, strong, independent mare and I can’t think of anypony else to be the new Headmare for the school so what do you think?” Twilight asked. “Well Twilight I’d be honored.” Starlight said happily. Spike then smirked walking off letting the two have their moment. Sombra then attacks the Crystal Empire, mind controlling some of them and having Shining Armor, Cadence, and Flurry Heart imprisoned. Luckily Cadence sent a letter to Twilight just in time. Twilight then had the girls, Spike, and Discord show up. “Thank you for coming.” Twilight said frantically. “Sure thing but you might wanna write a bit better, Sombra has returned, Cadence and Shining Armor are in danger and need help.” Discord said using his reading glasses. “Yes I need you all to help me with Sombra.” Twilight said. “Count us in darling.” Rarity said in a happy tone. “Yeah I’ll come too.” Starlight said “You’ll probably need backup.” “Well I plan on using the Elements Of Harmony with those we can defeat anypony even Sombra.” Twilight said happily. “Oh nonono you didn’t need the elements last time you defeated Sombra, you need to resolve this situation on your own.” Discord said taking a bath in a rip between reality. “My family is in danger I’m not taking any risks.” Twilight angrily countered. “Fine.” Discord relented “I’m terrified of Sombra anyway.” The Mane 8(yes Starlight counts) then go and defeat Sombra with the elements of harmony. They were now at the Tree Of Harmony putting the elements back. “Man that was way too easy.” Pinkie Pie said happily. “Yeah a bit too easy.” Twilight said nervously. They then saw a blast of smoke manifest and a Crystal rock smashed through the Tree Of Harmony. King Sombra then showed up maniacally laughing at the Mane 8.
Sombra vs DiscordView OnlineThe Beginning Of The End RewriteSombra vs DiscordSombra then trapped the Mane 8 in a Crystal prison and swore to take over Ponyville before leaving. “Oh man this isn’t good what will we do?” Spike asked. “I don’t know but I don’t know what we’re gonna do, I can’t imagine what he’s doing to Sweetie Belle.” Rarity cried out. “Or Applebloom.” Applejack said worried. “Or Sunburst, Trixie, Maud or anypony forced to do that monster’s bidding.” Starlight said in tears. Everyone then looks at Pinkie Pie. “What are you looking at me for?” Pinkie Pie asked. “This is usually the time you say something to lift our spirits.” Rainbow Dash says to Pinkie Pie sadly. “Sorry nothing about this is funny to me.” Pinkie Pie sighed out. The Mane 8 then gave up on sulking and dug their way out of the prison. Sombra then began mind controlling all of Ponyville saddening the Mane 8. “Applebloom look at me Sugarcube.” Applejack said. “Trixie, please stop.” Starlight said in tears. “We must lay siege to Canterlot.” Trixie droned out. “Sweetie Belle, stop.” Rarity begged. “I can’t get her to stop. I can’t-“ Rarity cried. “None of us can, none of us can reach them.” Twilight said embracing Rarity sadly. The Mane 8 then see the vines being sprouted and they tried to stop them but they couldn’t do it alone. Starswirl, Celestia, and Luna showed up and were able to stop the vines from sprouting any further and were still doing so. Starswirl explained that he sensed the Tree Of Harmony be destroyed, as part of his essence ceased to be. Twilight apologized but then alerted Sombra was heading to Canterlot. “We left Canterlot defenseless.” Luna said worried. “Twilight you must go defend Canterlot for Equestria.” Celestia commanded. The Mane 8 then teleported inside Canterlot’s castle where Sombra already was. Sombra was then settling in his throne before he saw cotton candy rainclouds rain chocolate milk on him. “Well well nice make over although I don’t think the princesses will appreciate this so I might as well stop this.” Discord said smirking. “Discord you are a fool to challenge me.” Sombra smirked back before blasting him which the draconequus dodged. Discord blasted back and it seemed to be a laser fight until... Discord was shot by King Sombra’s dark magic and fell to his knees weak. “They fled, Celestia and Luna are too cowardly to face me.” King Sombra said before maniacally laughing.

Sombra heard this and aimed his blast at Twilight, Starlight saw this so she jumped in front of Twilight and took the blast for her. “STARLIGHT!” Twilight cried out in tears while the others gasped. “Please wake up, please wake up oh oh.” Spike begged. Starlight’s eyes then fluttered open and Spike then embraced the unicorn. “Gasp Starlight.” Spike said happily. “I’m so glad you’re awake we can’t beat him without you.” Twilight said. “You couldn’t beat me with her either.” Sombra pointed out. Starlight tried to use her horn but she only made a spark. “I can’t do it, I have nothing left to give.” Starlight said with sadness. “That’s it then we’re doomed?” Applejack asked hopelessly. “Of course you are it’s taken you this long to realize that.” Sombra said in a matter of fact tone. “Now how shall I eliminate all this clutter at my hooves?” The ponies and dragon growled at the dark unicorn. “Listen to me, you don’t need me, you don’t need the elements and you don’t need the princesses.” Starlight began speaking “Fluttershy you will always be kind, Rarity you will always be generous, Rainbow Dash you will have loyalty, Applejack you will have honesty with you, Pinkie Pie will have laughter where ever she goes, Spike will always have compassion, and Twilight will have magic, you’re all here together willing to do whatever it takes for Equestria and that’s all you need.” “Hahahaha it’s going to take more than a simple little speech to beat me.” Sombra said charging up his horn. “No Starlight’s right, I’m not afraid of you Sombra.” Twilight said. “You should be.” Sombra said shooting his magic at Twilight who used her horn to deflect it. “You may knock us down but we’re gonna keep getting back up again.” Twilight said. “And again, and again.” Twilight said deflecting each blast. “For our friends.” Applejack and Fluttershy started. “For our families.” Rarity and Spike continued. “For our homes.” Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dah said. “For Equestria.” Twilight said happily. The seven were then in a bright orb holding each other’s hooves and claws in Spike’s case. “What no you can’t be doing this, I destroyed the source of your power.” Sombra shouted. “You can’t destroy our friendship Sombra.” Twilight said. “And we kinda keep telling bad guys this.” Rainbow Dash said. “But y’all don’t seem to listen.” Applejack continued. “Friendship IS Magic.” The Mane 7 said before using the beat disintegrating Sombra and freeing everyone from his control.
