My Little Pony: The Prince of Friendship
Season 2: Episode 11 - Sunset’s Reasoning
Previous ChapterNext Chapter“So you found the human world version of me, and when this lady known as Abacus Cinch persuaded that version of me due to her never learning about friendship like I did, the human version of me absorbed a bunch of magic and became another demon-like creature?” Twilight asked.
“Yep. Afterwards, I took on an angel form, convicted her to stop, and then decided to leave the human world with the device she had in tow.” Sunset Shimmer said. “I did it to get rid of Equestrian magic in the human world. It’s my fault it ended up there in the first place so I decided to remove it.” She added.
“So...you were just really upset over Celestia not making you an Alicorn...” Starlight said.
“I no longer desire that. Well...maybe I still do a little but I’m going to not force it this time. If it happens it happens.” Sunset said.
“You’d really want people to put you on a pedestal, Sunset?” Twilight asked.
“More like I just want to be a good leader, and princesses are leaders here. I suppose I’ll start small though, maybe help the Ponyville mayor out with her duties until I figure out something else. You too I suppose.” Sunset said.
“It would be nice to not have so much paperwork all the time. It’d be nice for a friend to help out with that bit.” Twilight said. “A friend and not really a student. I think you’ve graduated from being one of my students after making the sacrifice you have to make sure your friends will be safe.” She added.
“Believe you me, I didn’t want to leave, but I couldn’t stay if their lives would always be in danger.” Sunset said. “I chose their safety over the Friendships I made over there...so I still think I have more to learn.” She added.
“That is not true.” A new voice spoke. It was Celestia.
“Princess...” Sunset bowed. “Please don’t punish me. I did this for their safety.” She added.
“Punish you for thinking about the friends you made? No. In fact I’m proud of you. The fact that you were willing to come home permanently so their world will be much safer is proof you’ve learnt as much as you could about friendship on that side of the mirror.” Celestia said.
“She’s right in a way you know: You chose to come home because you cared so much about the human versions of my friends, Sunset.“ Twilight said.
“Th-thank you.” Sunset said.
“Perhaps one day, you will earn Alicorn status Sunset, but it is strange for you to want it to lead others.” Celestia said.
“Well...is it wrong to want to be a great leader? Sure being an Alicorn means I’ll become royalty but...that’s no longer why I want it.” Sunset then went up to a window. “What if there are others who think all Alicorns amount to is absolute authority? Perhaps if I became an Alicorn I could use the authority to seek out those who think that way, and teach them that friendship should be more important to them. I can do that with Twilight’s help sure, but it would go by much faster if I had the authority myself.” Sunset explained.
“You have changed a lot more then Twilight has given you credit for.” Celestia said.
“Please...she still deserves the status more then me. And even if I never become an Alicorn, I still want to help those people; reach out to them.” Sunset said.
“I never thought I’d see the day you’d say such things. Maybe you will become an Alicorn someday.” Celestia sand and then left.
“That no longer matters to me. I will do my part here in Equestria to stop anyone from thinking authority is everything.” Sunset said.
