Chapters Hello. My name is Saturn White. I am a gray unicorn stallion. I will talk about my feelings and my experiences upon my arrival to Ponyville with my brother Sparky. But before I tell you, I need to talk a little bit about my brother and I, how we got here, and what we did.
Our story begins in the great city of Manehattan, far from Ponyville. My mother and father were expecting one infant, and not two. But then, the egg split, and low and behold, there was not one, but two infants! Our mother, father, and even the doctor were surprised by this.
"Two infants?" the doctor asked.
Our mother, however, was very happy. So happy in fact, that she burst into tears.
"It's like a new era for the family!" our father said.
I won't disclose my mother's and father's names, but I'll just call them Mr. and Mrs. White for now.
There were some debates on what our names should've been, such as Cosmos or Scout. But in the end, they chose our final names as Saturn and Sparky. We loved those names and preferred those names only.
Years passed, and all was going well. We were finally colts, and so, we enrolled at the local school near our house. Sparky and I got fantastic grades, and we got some of the highest scores in our class. Many were proud. But the reactions from some of our other classmates? Not so much.
"Ha! Those two nerds look like they belong together!" one colt said.
"Yeah! If they were one pony, we'd have the biggest nerd in the school!" another called out.
We heard their reactions and got upset about it. In fact, so upset that Sparky walked over to them and told the heck off them!
"Listen to me, you two," Sparky told them. "I don't care what you think about me or my brother. All we care about is that we'll become so successful in the future that one day, you'll probably be living in the streets and when you see us again, you'll come crying to us saying that you're sorry for all the stuff you did in the past. You got that?"
Unfortunately, they didn't take it seriously and laughed their tails off about it in disbelief.
"You? So successful in the future?" that one colt said. "All I could see in the future is that you'll become greedy for money and other powerful stuff!"
Sparky was taken aback and walked back to me.
"They didn't take me seriously, brother," he told me.
I denied that. "Don't worry about those ponies! They were probably just jealous of us being the best ever. I was also shocked at what you said to them! I didn't think you had it in you. We both will be successful ponies Equestria has ever seen!"
Sparky looked at me. "You think?"
"I don't think. I know," I corrected.
Sparky smiled. "Alright! Let's do this!"
As more years passed, we both continued to successfully pass and ace our quizzes and exams. More ponies continued making fun of us. But they didn't stop or slow us down. Like I said to Sparky before, they were just jealous. So we kept on going with our honors.
When we reached the higher ups of school, Sparky attended writing class and I went for science class. And eventually, over 2 years later, as we graduated from our school, we had already planned to shift to independent lives. But we kept this secret between ourselves until it was the right time to explain it to our parents.
One day, during our dinner, we talked about our decisions with our parents. Mr. and Mrs. White were surprised at our decisions.
"Where are you gonna live now?" Mrs. White asked.
Sparky and I already had one town in mind that we wanted to live in: Ponyville.
"Ponyville," Sparky answered. "You know, the home of Twilight Sparkle?"
"The Princess of Friendship?" Mr. White said.
"Yes, the Princess-" I stopped there because I think they know who I'm talking about.
Mr. and Mrs. White were not sure. So they whispered over to each other.
"Should we?" Mrs. White asked.
"I don't know," Mr. White told her. "Have we saw them live on their own while we were out for a couple of days?"
"Yeah, it seemed so," Mrs. White said.
Now I know what you're gonna say: how do I know what they're saying? It's simple: I had good hearing.
"Well, boys," Mr. White told us. "We've talked about it, and it seems that..."
Sparky and I shook with what they were about to say.
"...you will live on your own!"
Both of us smiled almost immediately when we heard Mr. White say those words.
"Now don't get excited, you two," Mrs. White advised us. "We still have to talk with a realtor to buy you a new house. Have you decided where in Ponyville you're gonna live in?"
We explained it to them.
"It was hard figuring where in Ponyville we should move to, but the outskirts were our best option. We wanted our house to be right in the town square, but we figured it would be busy sometimes. So we changed it," I explained it to them.
"Very well, then. Tomorrow, we'll talk with a realtor about that."
And we finished our dinner after that.
The next day, Mr. and Mrs. White called in a realtor and they talked and talked for hours nonstop. Sparky and I listened to their conversation from outside the room, and they didn't know. Then the realtor took out a map of Ponyville to show our parents where we'll be staying at.
"Where do you want it to be?" the realtor asked.
"Well," Mr. White said, "they said they'll stay in the outskirts."
They pointed where we wanted our house to be: smack dab around the outskirts.
The realtor thought about it and said it was a good choice. "Well, your stallions made the right choice. I'll talk with the owner later."
"Thanks, sir," Mr. White said.
He opened the door, but Sparky and I had left that time.
"So when are we moving?" I asked Mr. White.
"Well, he said the Equestria Department of Housing will send a letter about the house straight to us tomorrow."
Time would tell if that letter would say yes or no.
Three days after the meeting with the realtor, we got an envelope in the mail. I took it, opened it, and read it out loud to Sparky, Mr. and Mrs. White. This was what it read:
Dear Mr. or Mrs. White,
We are proud to inform you that your request for purchasing the house in Ponyville has been accepted! Your citizen status for Ponyville has been authorized. Thank you and have a great day.
Yours truly,
River Parks
Head of Equestria Department of Housing
When I finished that note, we were all screaming for joy. Tomorrow was the day Sparky and I will finally live on our own! I couldn't wait for that day.
Author's Note
Fun Fact: Cosmos and Scout were the original working names for Saturn.
5:15 a.m.
5:15 was the time we got up because our train would be leaving at 7:00 in the morning. I know it's too early for a train ride, but we both wanted a headstart. So we purchased the 7:00 a.m. ticket.
As soon as we woke up, Sparky and I packed our bags quickly. Breakfast was limited too. I took an egg sandwich and Sparky, out of all the things he could take, took some potato chips. But I can't blame him, since we had to be early, but we had to have something fill our stomachs. I heated my sandwich and ate it quickly, and since Sparky had the bag of chips, he was finished before me.
Before we left, I had to get my journal to express my thoughts and feelings about my new life in Ponyville. Sparky had some questions about my journal.
"Why are you taking that journal with you?" he asked.
"Well," I answered, "you gotta have something to write your feelings on."
"You know what? That's a really clever idea, man." Sparky put his front right leg around my neck and smiled. "I like the way you think, even though I'm like 5 seconds older than you."
He was right. I was born 5 seconds after he was born. But age didn't matter. All that mattered was that we were together, no matter what.
6:20 a.m.
The taxi ride was a bit bumpy. Mr. White wasn't very happy with that.
"My goodness," he complained. "What kind of ride is this?"
We snickered a little.
"Hey, Saturn?" Sparky asked me. "What do you think Ponyville would be like?"
I had no idea how it'd be, living on our own. But I said this to him. "I think it'd be an abomination."
Sparky was confused when I said that. "Why?"
"Eh, you know. Paying taxes?"
Now he started to get my point. "Ohh... Sounds like this is gonna be a lot tougher than we thought, huh?"
I nodded. "Yeah, Sparky. But we'll see."
Mrs. White checked in with us to make sure we had everything.
"Do you have your clothes?" she asked.
"Yes, ma," I said.
"Your passports?"
"Yes." I think she meant tickets, but tickety rickety, it's still the same thing.
6:35 a.m.
We arrived at the Maneway Station. It wasn't as busy as we thought it was, but at least it could cut the time. We all got out of the cab and walked inside the station.
This was when we separated from our parents. As soon as we got in, they stopped. We turned and looked at them.
"Why did you stop?" I asked.
"This is where our travel here ends," Mrs. White said.
"We've appreciated your time here," Mr. White said. "Sure, there were our ups and downs, but we still love you both, no matter what happens."
Sparky was tearing up, and he ran over to them to hug them. I felt sad too.
"I'll miss you both," he said tearfully.
"Saturn," Mr. White called to me, "why don't you give your old parents a hug too?"
I also came in for their family hug. It was the best one yet.
"Don't forget to visit us during Hearth's Warming Eve," Mrs. White reminded us. "We'd appreciate it."
"We will," I said to them.
Sparky and I walked over to the security gates as we kept waving goodbye to our parents before they were nowhere in sight. It was sad leaving someone you love for a long time.
We passed our security check and then seated in the lounge, waiting for our train to arrive. Sparky opened his sketchbook and began drawing some sketches. I noticed that he drew a lot of pictures of us in different places around Equestria and abroad, so I looked over at him.
"Hey, Sparky," I asked, "what's with all these drawings of us in Canterlot, Appaloosa, and even the goshdarn Moon?"
"Oh, these?" Sparky acknowledged. "They're all just my imagination. You know me, I like drawing stuff I imagine."
"Canterlot's very close to Ponyville," I told him. "So once we get there, we'll probably stop by."
"You think we'll see Princess Celestia or Luna?" he said.
"Who knows, Sparky?" I replied. "Who knows?"
The intercom had just announced that our train had just arrived. Sparky and I were thrilled for the ride. But not literally.
"Oh, man," Sparky said excitedly. "Here we go, brother!"
I shook my head as I smiled. Sparky was excited to go on that train.
Finally, the crew started boarding the train. We showed the conductor our tickets and he directed us to our seats. I was in the window, and Sparky was in the aisle seat.
"Thank gosh!" Sparky exclaimed. "It took a while."
"It's only been 10 minutes, Sparks," I said to him.
"Maybe to you, but not to me." Sparky was impatient during the waiting time, but I didn't mind that.
It took another 5 minutes for everyone to board the train. Then, after what seemed like forever, they were finally done boarding everyone.
"Good morning, fillies and gentlecolts," the conductor announced. "Welcome aboard the Northeast Equestrian Express, en route to Ponyville."
The train blew its whistle, and we were off in a dash.
I looked out the window as we approached the bridge leaving Manehattan. "So long, Manehattan!"
7:50 a.m.
The train finished a fourth of its journey halfway. Sparky was sleeping on my neck, but I liked it, and wrapped my left front arm around his neck.
The conductor walked over to us and offered me some water. "Would you like some water?"
I declined it. "No, thanks."
"Okay. By the way, that stallion sleeping on you looks adorable."
I was surprised that he said that. "Thank you." It really does.
As soon as the conductor left, Sparky finally woke up.
"What time is it?" he said tiredly.
I smiled. "Only a fourth."
"Only a fourth? How long have I been sleeping for?" he asked as he yawned.
"35 minutes." I had a time watch, so I could tell how long he slept.
"Well, that's not too long. Where are we?"
I looked at a waterfall we were passing by. We must've been in Neighagra Falls. Sparky went over to the window and saw the waterfall. He was stunned at what he was seeing.
"Hibernating horns!" That was his catchphrase. I laughed at that sometimes. "The waterfall is beautiful this time of year! Dang, we must be really lucky to move like this."
He was right. It was beautiful this time of the year.
"Hey, Saturn?" he asked me.
"What's up?" I answered.
"You got a bucket list of what we'll do when we adjust to our lives in Ponyville?"
I haven't planned a bucket list, because I didn't think there'd be a lot of stuff we'd do there.
"Sorry, but no," I told him.
"Then I'll make one!" He used his horn to take out his notebook from his bag. And from there, I saw a lot of books. I was shocked at how many books he brought with him. I thought he brought only one book, and that was his sketchbook. But no, he has his notebook as well. His other books talked about economies, work, etc.
"Why do you have so many books?" I asked him.
"Oh, you know, to learn more! Like economics and work, it goes on." Seemed like he had a whole career ahead of him. I didn't make fun of him for that, though. I nodded, since I very well understood what he said.
Sparky was writing down some notes on his notebook with his horn. He showed it to me.
"Alright, what do you think of this?" He showed it to me. The title said: "Things I Want to Do With My BBF (Best Brother Forever)". And then underneath it talked about things he wanted to do with me. I figured it'd be some bucket list, like he said.
"This one I like the most." I pointed my hoof over to one bullet point that said: "Watch the Meteor Shower"
"Oh, I knew you'd pick that one," he said. It was a cliched choice, but who cares, am I right?
8:15 a.m.
We had a quick stop at Bitsburgh. There were some delays, like one where the train ahead of us had its brakes not working properly, so that train was at the platform for an hour.
"Fillies and gentlecolts," announced the conductor, "we apologize for the delay at Bitsburgh. A train ahead of us had its brakes broken, and the engineers took their time checking the problem. But we are now good to go. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience."
"Oh my," said Sparky. "Good thing nopony was hurt, right?"
"Definitely," I told him. "There's no way somepony got hurt by that."
And that was it. Nothing else happened in Bitsburgh, except that delay I mentioned.
Well, that was I thought, because inside the train, we both spotted someone that we knew about for years: the one and only A.K. Yearling. She wrote those Daring Do books I spot in some libraries I visit. We were so confused about what she was doing here. Doesn't she live in Northwest Equestria or something?
"Excuse me?" I asked her. "Are you A.K. Yearling?"
"Yes," she said. "Why?"
"My brother Sparky and I knew about your book series Daring Do , if that's what you write?"
Yearling knew what I was talking about. "Oh! Those! I'm glad to see that someone knows on this train knows about me and my book series."
Sparky intervened. "Anyways, ma'am, what are you doing here on the train to Ponyville?"
"I'm headed back to Ponyville for a little trip I'm on. The reason I was here in Bitsburgh was because I was attending some comic convention downtown."
I was surprised at that. "Aren't you tired from all that signing or whatever you do at conventions?"
"No, I didn't feel tired. In fact, I did love signing all the ponies' books."
We were impressed by that. And then, it was time to part ways.
"Well, it was nice meeting you all. Enjoy the ride!" And then she left us.
Sparky was stunned at what he saw. "Can you believe it? We just met a celebrity!"
"Shh," I told him. "I get you're excited, but keep it down here."
"Sorry," he said to me.
I understood why he was excited, but we were in a public place. So I didn't want us to cause a scene.
9:10 a.m.
Okay, we're almost done. I just want to give a quick highlight of the trip that there was an incident in a city we were passing by that almost caused the rest of the route to be cancelled, so just keep that in mind of what comes next.
As we were passing by Detrot, we saw some black smoke coming from the downtown area of the city. The passengers, us included, were confused as to what we were seeing in the distance.
"What's going on?" I said.
"I think there's a fire in Detrot," Sparky told me.
To our surprise, when we stopped by, no pony was there. So all of us were immensely confused. I knew something was up. Then, the conductor made an announcement that stunned us all.
"Fillies and gentlecolts," announced the conductor, "please stay in your seats at this time. We just got word from the Detrot Police Department that a building has collapsed in the downtown area."
All of us were shocked at what we heard. That must be why there were smoke coming out of downtown.
"My gosh!" I said. "I hope everyone's alive and safe."
Sparky wished the same too.
The train finally resumed its journey again. And as we left, I could see more smoke rising from the ground and into the air. I was wishing every pony got out.
9:55 a.m.
Well, this is where our journey to Ponyville ends. It was great having to ride a train with none other than my BBF in the world. Sure, it had its ups and downs, but we still had fun nonetheless.
The train stopped by at the Ponyville Station. We packed our stuff, double-checked to make sure we had everything, and exited the train.
"Goodbye, city life!" Sparky and I said. "And hello, country life!"
Ponyville looked so big than I thought it'd be. We looked around from the station as we saw the Town Hall, the Castle of Friendship, and I even saw the Canterlot Castle from down here.
"Get us a map, Sparks," I told him.
"Right on it!" Sparky went over to the counter and took out a brochure with the map of Ponyville on it.
"So, where's our house?" I asked him, since he had the map.
"I think it's right here." He pointed his hoof to somewhere near the Marigold Lake.
I looked up. "That way." So we got off the station and walked towards our new house.
Everything looked so peaceful here. There ain't any cabs, no big buildings, and no blocking. Just small, cottage-like houses in a country-like setting. And I love it. But there was some downers here. As we walked, I accidentally bumped into a pony.
"Hey, watch it!" the pony yelled.
"Jeez, sorry, we're not from here," I apologized.
As we continued walking, a pink Earth pony walked over to us and asked us some questions.
"Hey!" asked the pony. "Are you two new here?"
We knew who this pony was: Pinkie Pie.
"Yes," I said. "Pinkie Pie."
"Ooh! How'd you know my name? Do you have Pinkie Sense too?"
We were confused by what she said.
"No?" Sparky said. "We just got here. Plus, we know your name because we see you in newspapers sometimes."
"Ah!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed.
"Anyways, why are you chatting with us?" I asked her.
"I've never seen you in Ponyville before. I just wanted to check you out," Pinkie explained to us.
"Well, we're moving here. So —"
Pinkie Pie interrupted me. "Ooh! You want a welcoming party?"
"No, thank you. We'd prefer peace and quiet," Sparky told her.
Pinkie Pie was shocked. "You don't want a welcome party?"
"We're sure," I replied.
"Well, if you change your mind, you know where to find me!" And she rushed off in a jiffy.
Sparky and I looked at each other in confusion.
"What was that?" Sparky said.
"Don't know, but it's probably because she's the Element of Laughter," I said.
"Maybe so," he said. And we kept on going.
There was another Earth pony we saw. But boy, let me tell you, it wasn't so great.
While we kept walking, we saw someone that hated our guts for so long: Trail Blazer. He kept tormenting us back in our final grades of school, and it was so horrifying! Some of the things he did to us were throwing paper balls at us, and purposely crashing to us. It all came to an end when it was said that Trail was moving away from Manehattan, and man, oh man, we were glad he was rid of.
But that all changed when he saw us walking down the path.
"Hey, you two unicorns!" Trail called out.
Sparky knew who that was. "Oh no, it's Trail Blazer! What's he doing here?"
"I don't know!" I said. "But all we have to do is just keep walking, and maybe he'll ignore us."
We both kept walking as if nothing ever happened. But that still didn't keep Trail away from us, because he instead just interrupted us in front of our path.
"You two look like you're a long way from home, aren't you?" he said to us.
"What are you talking about?" I told him.
"Don't act like you don't know... Saturn and Sparky."
He didn't forget our names, even if it's been years!
"Anyways, what are you doing here?" he asked us.
"Well, Trail..." Sparky imitated him, "we've moved out!"
"Really? Without your mommy and daddy?" Trail laughed.
We both took offense by that. No one has called our parents "mommy" or "daddy". And this time, Trail is beginning to go way too far.
"Yes," I told him. "And we'll have you know we've toughened ourselves up."
Sparky was surprised by what I said. "What?!"
Trail scoffed. "We'll see about that. Right after I give you two a big purple eye and bruises."
We were NOT ready for this. Trail Blazer was preparing himself.
"Saturn, what are we gonna do?!" Sparky whispered to me. "He's going to beat us up if we don't do something!"
"Uhh..." I tried to spot something we could flee ourselves from from that Trail. And just not a moment too soon, I found a wagon full of watermelons, with its door open. So by my calculations, if I could use my horn to open the door fully, the watermelons would tip out and crash into Trail.
"Come on!" Sparky panicked.
"Sparks," I told him, "I have an idea.
Trail was done preparing himself and walked over to us in an intimidating way.
"Are you ready?" Trail told us.
"Actually, yes we are," I said.
"No, we aren't— Whoa!" Sparky was interrupted when I grabbed him by his handkerchief and ran off.
Trail was angry than he had ever been. "Hey, get back here!" And he chased us.
We both ran as fast as we could to that wagon.
"Where are we going?" Sparky asked me.
"I know what I'm doing!" I told him.
Trail was catching up.
"Hurry!" he told me.
"Don't worry about me! Keep going!" I advised him
"What about you?!" he desperately asked.
"I'll take care of him!"
Just as we reached the wagon, Sparky kept on going, and I stopped by the door.
"Eat this, Trail Blazer!" I used my horn to open the door. Just as I did, watermelons spilled everywhere! They all managed to slow Trail down, just like I predicted.
"Agh!" Trail angrily cried. "Don't think this is over, Saturn and Sparky. I will find you."
"In your dreams," I told him in a singy-songy tone as I left him.
The pony in charge of that was mad at me. "What the heck, dude?!"
"This stallion was chasing me," I told him. "What did you want me to do, let him chase after me?"
"No, but not like this." He went over to the watermelon wagon and picked up the dropped watermelons.
Sparky was amazed by that. "Dude, that was the coolest thing I've ever seen you do! Except for the pony that was scolding you."
"I know, right?" I said to him. "Told ya I've toughened up."
"Does that even count?" he asked me.
"Beats me. But what matters is that he's gone. At least for now."
From here, finally, we continued our pathway down to our house in the outskirts of Ponyville.
After minutes of walking, we've arrived at our final destination. Our new house. It looked good on the outside.
"Well, here we are!" Sparky said. "Our new home."
We approached the door and opened it. It was unlocked, but we didn't pay any attention to it.
"Oh my god," I said. The house looked very unfinished on the inside. There was still wet paint on the walls and there was some floorboards missing.
"Did they not tell us it was unfinished?" Sparky said.
"They didn't even bother telling us!" I complained. "What kind of company doesn't tell you what's finished or unfinished?"
Sparky looked at me. "Don't ask me!"
We were extremely disappointed by the looks of the house. It literally showed us promise on the outside, but inside, it's not even worth it anymore!
"You think we should book a hotel?" Sparky asked me.
"If there is one," I said. So we both decided to leave.
We found a post office in the town. The reason we're there is because we had to send a letter to the realtor of the house. The letter was already written.
"I can't believe he didn't tell us it wasn't finished," Sparky said.
"I know," I told him.
It was our turn to send the letter. The gray pegasus in charge of the counter looked at us.
"Where do you want to send this?" she asked us.
"Manehattan. Pronto," I told her.
"Okie dokie!" She placed the letter inside a box shipped for Manehattan, just as we left the counter and the post office.
1:00 p.m.
The hotels in Ponyville weren't too compressed, but we wanted to find a hotel that's much comfortable for us to stay in until they do something about the house.
"We're finding a hotel now," Sparky said. "I am not sleeping outside in the cold, cold night."
After a couple minutes or so, we found a hotel that was just right for us.
"What about this one?" I asked him.
"Yep; that's the one," he answered.
We entered the hotel through the front door and into the main lobby. It looked very high-quality for such a sleepy town by the mountains. The lobby clerk was busy, but he had enough time to chat with us.
"Welcome to Equestrian Inn & Suites. What can I do for you today?" the lobby clerk asked us.
"We're here to book a room for two," Sparky told him.
"Two, huh? Well, we've got one more room on the top floor, if that's okay with you."
"We'll take it!" Sparky exclaimed.
The clerk gave us a key to room 304. "There you go, stallions. Enjoy your stay."
I took the key and Sparky and I walked to the stairs.
"Finally, a place to stay at!" Sparky muttered.
"Chill, man," I said to him, "we'll have it sorted out soon."
"That's what you think," he replied.
Just as we finished talking, we reached the top floor. We walked over to our room, which was this time, much better to stay at than the house. It looked exactly like an apartment, meaning there was one bed (which we didn't mind), a kitchen, a closet, chairs, a desk for us to study on, and a state-of-the-art bathroom. This hotel was so astounding .
"Oh, heck yes!" Sparky exclaimed, being relieved after so much traveling. He laid on the bed. "Saturn, you gotta lay on this bed! It's so comfy!"
I smiled, just as I also walked to the bed. "What activities do you want to do, now that we're here?"
There were more brochures on the desk, so I got up and took one.
The brochure read, "Here are some fun things you can do in Ponyville: play some games in the outdoor arcade, eat at the Sugarcube Corner, go bowling, watch a play at the Ponyville Theater, and look at the view of Ponyville from a distant mountain."
"What would you like to do first?" I asked Sparky.
"I like the first one," he said.
"The arcade?" I asked.
"Yep," he answered. "I need myself some entertainment."
I get his point. We were getting kinda bored during the train ride and walking around.
"Alright, let's go!" I called.
"Be right there!" Sparky was checking to make sure he was all good, so I waited for him outside the door. I had the key to the room, so don't worry, I wouldn't get ourselves locked out from our own room.
I waited and waited for about 5 minutes, when Sparky was finally done with his safety check.
"Ready up!" he said. And we both walked down to the first floor.
As we got down, we saw the realtor that offered us the house days ago. He seemed like he was waiting for someone. Then, he saw us. "Oi! Mr. Whites!"
We heard him call us and we went over to him. "What's up?"
"I received the letter you sent me."
I was shocked when he said that. Did the letter we sent him go straight to him that quickly?
"Oh! That," I said. "Yeah, we needed you to know about the house, because it looked rundown."
"Show me," he asked.
So Sparky, him, and I walked to the house we were staying at. We showed him the inside, which was still the same as before.
The realtor was surprised as well by what he's seeing. "Oh dear. I thought I told the maintenance team to renovate this ASAP. I don't think they did at all. Sorry, guys, let me ask them again." And he went outside by himself.
"So he is aware of our complaint?" Sparky asked me.
"Seems so. But why did he not tell us?" I said.
"Dunno."
The realtor was done with whatever he was doing and walked to us. "Sorry, guys, the letter I tried to send to them about fixing the house didn't get sent immediately. My apologies. We'll start work on this as soon as possible. In the meantime, have you guys already booked a hotel to stay at?"
"Yes, we did," I replied.
"Great. Now the next time I see you at the hotel, I'll call you, and walk you over to your house to give you a proper tour this time. Have a nice day!" He left us.
Sparky exhaled. "So, you ready to have some fun, Saturn?"
"You betcha, Sparks!" I said, just as we ran out in a dash.
Our first activity was to play at that outdoor arcade the brochure suggested. The games were hard to play, but we didn't care about winning. Next, we went to the Sugarcube Corner. While we waited in line, we spotted Pinkie Pie, that pink Earth pony again.
"Saturn, I think that's the pony we met earlier," Sparky whispered to me.
"What?" I looked out and saw that it was her again. I scoffed. "You've gotta be kidding me."
It was our turn to order. By the time we got to the counter, she recognized us almost immediately.
"Hey! Weren't you the two unicorns I met earlier today?" Pinkie said.
"Yes," Sparky and I said.
"Ooh! Welcome to Sugarcube Corner! Anyways, what can I get you started with this afternoon?"
The menu consisted of sweets, including cupcakes and cake.
"We'll just get a box of mint cupcakes for here, that's all." I gave her some of my bits.
"Okay, you're all set!" She rushed into the back.
It took around seven to eight minutes for our order to arrive.
"Anyone with a box of mint cupcakes?" she called out. That was us. I got up and got the mint cupcakes from Pinkie.
"Here you go, sir! Have a wonderful first day!" Wow, she really did care for us, even if we declined the offer of a welcome party.
"What'd she say to you?" Sparky questioned.
"She said, 'have a wonderful first day,'" I told him. "You know, I think she really does care a lot about us, even if we did ask not to have a welcome party here."
"You think that?" he asked.
I shrugged. But enough about that, we opened the box of mint cupcakes, which looked wonderfully appetizing. I took a bite of the first one. And oh my god, it was so sweet and delicious!
"Wow," I glanced. "Sounds like this pony is very talented at baking."
Sparky took a bite of the second cupcake. He liked it as well. "My, oh my, this is wonderful!"
We continued eating the cupcakes for 30 minutes, when it was time for our third activity of the day: bowling.
2:00 p.m.
We arrived at the bowling hall with our poor skills at bowling. We both checked in and got our own bowling lane. I was ready to beat Sparky's tail. But competition wasn't the answer. The answer was having fun. Here was one moment I loved the most.
Sparky got 9 pins down, both the first and second try. "Boom! Try beating that."
I snickered. I picked up the bowling ball and threw it down the lane, and strike! All 10 pins went down with a crash. Sparky was bewildered.
"Now you try beating that," I taunted him.
He scoffed, as I laughed.
2:40 p.m.
After the bowling, we continued exploring the town more. Especially heading near the Everfree Forest, but not that close. We checked out more places, like Sweet Apple Acres, the Castle of Friendship, Fluttershy's cottage, and the Carousel Boutique. No, we didn't see Trail Blazer, thankfully. Sparky talked to me about it.
"Hey, you ever noticed that Trail Blazer didn't even pick on us?" he reminded me.
"Now that you mention it," I said, "I do."
"Where do you think he is?" he wondered.
"Oh, I don't know. I bet he left to his 'mommy' and 'daddy'."
We both laughed to ourselves about it.
6:00 p.m.
And finally, we decided to go to Canterlot, just like I promised Sparky.
"Thanks, brother," he said gleefully.
"No problemo," I replied. I loved seeing him happy. It makes me happy too.
We went exploring around Canterlot, seeing new faces and such wonderful landmarks, including the Canterlot Tower, the School for Gifted Unicorns, and many others. But the one thing that is absolutely, without a doubt, the Canterlot Castle. It was nice seeing it in postcards and pictures, but seeing it up close made it ten times better!
"Magnificent," I gleamed.
"You know, Saturn?" Sparky said as he went over to me. "I really want to see the meteors from this place. It'll be beautiful."
I listened to him. The words, "I really want to see the meteors from this place. It'll be beautiful," really caught me. Whenever that meteor shower is coming, that is my gift to him.
6:30 p.m.
6:30 p.m. was the time for dinner. Our first one without our parents, sadly. The best (and fanciest) restaurant we could find was Night Train, a very unfitting name for a restaurant if you ask me. But the name was just a nitpick and didn't come close to ruining the okay experience inside that place. Sparky ordered a Thai cucumber salad? What in the world is a Thai? And I ordered some Duchess Potatoes. The food was great, but our charge? Not so much.
"Two-hundred and fifty bits for two platters?!" I yelled.
"Well, that's the cost," the waiter taking care of us explained. "Sorry, but I don't make the rules. The manager does."
I got so upset by that. "Fine!" I took out two-hundred and fifty bits out of my bag and placed it on the table furiously.
"Thanks, sir. Have a wonderful night," the waiter said as he left.
Sparky was also surprised by the cost. "I can't believe they'd charge you two-hundred and fifty bits for two dishes."
"Don't blame them," I said angrily. "There's a reason they call this a fancy restaurant, anyway."
"You're dang right," he said. So we both got up and left the restaurant.
10:00 p.m.
It was already 10:00 p.m. by the time we got back to Ponyville. The lamps were on, barely any pony was outside, and a few of the houses were already sleeping. It was quiet, compared to Manehattan, but that's what we loved here. At least there's not a lot of hustle and bustle.
We arrived back at our hotel and walked back to our room, tired of all the adventuring we had. After we finished brushing our teeth and prepping the bed, Sparky and I laid down and just stared into the ceiling. Then, Sparky began a conversation that made me think life all over again.
"Hey, Saturn?" he asked.
"Yes?" I said in a tired voice.
He exhaled before he said this. "I've never seen you with a mare here lately."
I got confused on what he was talking about. "What do you mean?"
"You know, as life goes on, you have to get married, have foals, and live your whole life until you kick the bucket," he explained.
Now I knew what he meant, but I wasn't sure how to say this. "You know, Sparks, can I tell you a secret?"
"What is it?" he said.
I exhaled. "I don't plan on getting married."
He was surprised. "Why?"
"Because think about it. There'll be so many stuff that'll happen once you get married. Like having arguments, having a lot of foals, and not a lot of relaxation," I explained to him. "And not to mention some complaints once you start working."
Sparky heard my explanation, but he chuckled in disbelief. "I'm sorry, but I think you're over exaggerating here, Saturn. Why? Just because all of that happens doesn't mean everything will go downhill immediately. You'll have lots of fun and more time to spend with your foals."
I listened. "Maybe you're right."
"Because I am," he said casually.
"Anyways, it's already late. Let's go to sleep. We've got a long day ahead of us tomorrow," I said before I turned off the light. "Good night, Sparks."
"Good night, Saturn."
Author's Note
Yes, I know that potatoes aren't the best thing to feed to a horse/pony, but come on, there have been some moments in the show where potatoes are a thing for consumption.
7:00 a.m.
It was morning. The alarm clock I had set went off, so I woke up to turn it off. When I woke up, I didn't see Sparky beside me. Nothing but the bed marking he made.
"That's strange," I wondered. "Usually, he wakes up after me."
I took my shower, brushed my teeth, and combed my hair. Just after so, I heard the door unlock. It was Sparky, who apparently bought some breakfast from downstairs.
"Wakey-wakey!" he said. Was that really necessary, though? "I bought you some breakfast!"
He was feeling a bit different today. Like the second we left Manehattan, he started taking care of himself. And I like it.
I came out of the bathroom, seeing Sparky sitting on the bed. "Where have you been?"
"Breakfast lounge downstairs," he answered. "I also got you an egg sandwich, just as you like it."
"Thanks," I said.
"No problem," he replied as he placed the key on the desk.
I was wondering what time he woke up, so I asked him, "What time did you wake up?"
"6:30.," he answered. 6:30?! Jeez, that was way too early.
"What did you do during that time?" I asked, since he usually wakes up at 7:15 or so.
"I took a walk around Ponyville, 'cuz I had to stretch my legs. And I ordered some breakfast for us to enjoy." Sparky smiled.
It was great seeing that this was the new Sparky. "I'm starting to like this new you," I complimented.
"Thanks. Thought that since we're moving to a new place, I had to improve myself," he said as he took out my sandwich and handed it to me.
This egg sandwich tasted a bit like the homemade ones we used to have. But I didn't mind.
"You think the realtor managed to get our house fixed?" I asked.
"I don't know," Sparky replied. "Oh, and another thing, his name is Mr. Porter."
"Mr. Porter?" I questioned.
"Yep." Sparky took out some papers from his bag. The papers were some posters about him. "Apparently, he's a very skilled realtor."
"Huh." Why didn't he tell us before we got to our house?
While we kept talking, a letter came through our mail slot in the door.
"What's that?" I wondered as I walked over to the letter. I opened it, and this was what it read:
Dear Mr. Whites.
This is the Equestrian Department of Housing. We would like to apologize about our inconveniences about your bad experience with your new house in Ponyville. It is unknown as to why this happened, but please comply within 24 hours. Mr. Porter will be checking in with you at your house at 8:00 this morning. Thank you and have a great day.
Yours truly,
River Parks
Head of Equestria Department of Housing
Both Sparky and I looked at each other and we cheered, since they (finally) did something about it.
"Thank Celestia for that!" I cheered.
"So when are we leaving?" Sparky asked.
"I believe probably in 30 minutes," I answered. I looked at the time in the clock and it was 7:10. We were ahead of schedule, probably. "30 minutes," I said to myself. "30 minutes."
We've finished prepping ourselves to meet with Mr. Porter after 30 minutes. Just as we were about to head out the front door, the front clerk called us. "Hey! You two!"
So we went over to him. "What's up?" I asked.
"Did you get the letter we sent you?" he said.
"Yes, we did," I answered.
"Great," he exclaimed.
Sparky was confused on why he called us just to ask us that. "Why'd you call us for that?"
"Just need to make sure." He left the front desk.
"Weird," I said, as Sparky and I both left the front lobby and outside into Ponyville.
Ponyville was once again quiet. There were a few ponies, one of them being that Trail Blazer again.
"Oh my god, you've gotta be kidding me," I said. "It's him again!"
"What? Oh no," Sparky cried.
Trail Blazer didn't spot us, since he was talking to some pony else near one of the houses, which was a relief, since had he seen us, we'd be doomed for sure. Especially since there's nothing that I could use to block him with.
7:55 a.m.
Mr. Porter, the realtor, was waiting for us. He finally spotted us walking down the trail. We were five minutes early.
"Ah, morning, you two," he said. "Five minutes early."
I stopped. "Top of the morning to you too, sir."
"Anyways, we've finished the house for your convenience," he continued. "You want a proper tour of it now?"
"Yes, please!" Sparky answered.
"Just what I'd like to hear from you." He entered the front door of the house, and we all went inside.
The house was finally finished. All the walls were dry and the floor boards were fixed, and there was already some furniture placed in their respective spots. Now this is a better home to live in.
Mr. Porter took a deep breath. "Well, kids, your new house."
Sparky and I were astounded.
"This is so much better than our previous visit," Sparky said.
"Agreed," I replied.
"Perfect," Mr. Porter said. "Anyways, I'll show you the upstairs." He took both of us to the second floor and showed us our room. It wasn't two separate rooms, but it had enough space for us two to fit in. Our separate beds were there, at least.
Sparky was surprised. "This is like the hotel room!"
I knocked his right leg. "Dude, don't complain!"
"I'm not," he said. It sounded like he did.
"Well, this is where the tour ends," Mr. Porter announced.
"Wait, that's it?" I asked. "That was only for like two minutes!"
"Sorry, guys, but some customers need me in Baltimare. If you need anything, you can send me a letter. See you later, guys!" And he left in a hurry.
Sparky and I looked at each other in confusion, since he never even told us he'd be leaving in such notice.
"With that out of the way, should we check out?" Sparky asked me.
"Yeah," I said. So we ran to the hotel to get our stuff and check out, when we ran into some pony that I shouldn't bother naming here for now.
"Well, where are you two headed?" he said.
"To the hotel," Sparky answered.
"Why? Are you two homeless?"
Those words echoed in my mind.
"No," I said sternly. "But I'll have you know that unlike you, we've had to go through a lot yesterday. We even had to leave our own parents behind so that we could live our life abroad. You don't know how that would feel if it were to, gee, I don't know, happen to you!"
He stared at us for a few seconds. Then, he laughed. "Wow, you two really are pathetic, useless unicorns that should've just quit all those years ago! Hit it, stallions!" He clapped his hooves two times, then out of nowhere, three other stallions approached us from every direction. We didn't know what to do. Our legs began shaking as they all moved towards us very slowly.
"You two have had the chance to give up and this wouldn't happen, but you happen to have wasted it," he broodily told us.
Sparky was more afraid than I was. "Come on, Saturn! Hurry!" he whispered.
I didn't know what to do. There was nothing I could do. But then, a last resort idea popped into me: teleportation.
"Sparks, hang on to me," I whispered.
"Why?" he worriedly asked.
"Trust me on this."
He gulped. "Okay."
He held onto my body and I began to emit magic from my horn. Then, just in the nick of time, I casted my teleportation spell to our hotel. I bet they were so shocked at what they just witnessed.
"Oh my god!" Sparky said in relief. "That was close!"
"We did it!" I yelled.
But everyone told us to shush because I was too loud. "Sorry," I said, as we ran to our room to get our stuff.
8:10 a.m.
"I cannot believe what I just witnessed," Sparky said as he packed his books. "We were almost cooked right there!"
"Me too, Sparks," I replied to him.
That gosh darn bully took it way too far this time. He's done this two times this week, and he's almost at the third strike! The next time we see him, I'm gonna confront him myself. If I can, that is.
"By the way," I was going to say to Sparky, "you do know that I've had that teleportation spell rooted to my brain for months, right?"
"Yeah?" he said. "Why?"
"I wasn't sure when was the right time to use it. But when we had that you-know-what, I knew I had to use my teleportation to good use, so I focused and got ourselves out from the mess."
"That's what I like about you, little brother. You know what to do at the right time." He put his leg on my mane and rubbed it.
We were done packing. I already gave my key to the clerk, and I used my teleportation spell so that we don't run into you-know-who again. We teleported to the house exterior. It still looked magnificent.
"Ready to move our stuff here this time?" Sparky said confidently.
"Ready when you are," I replied, also confidently.
I opened the door and placed our bags down. It looked two times better on the inside, because there's no wet paint or loose floorboards, unlike our first visit. Sparky sat on the couch.
"Oh, how I have missed the comfy cushions of a couch!" he said. But that wasn't true. He sat on some couches in the hotel, but I knew what he meant: a house couch.
Some of the pictures here were water paint, a type of art Sparky liked, but I wasn't a fan of. It doesn't mean I hate it, but I just don't like it. I glanced at more of the textures inside. They resembled more like Western-style farmhouses, just like our cousin Ritter Bitter owns.
"Have you ever noticed that our living room here looks a little bit like Ritter's living room?" I asked Sparky.
He didn't notice a thing. "I don't get you."
"Nevermind," I sighed.
8:30 a.m.
While we decided to go out for a walk to breathe some fresh air, we saw Pinkie Pie again. God, how does she keep finding us? Anyways, we chatted.
"So, how was your first day in Ponyville?" she asked.
"Not bad, to say the least," Sparky told her.
"It's nice having new visitors every now and then." Pinkie had a huge party cannon out of nowhere.
I saw the cannon. "What is that?"
Pinkie grinned. "It's my party cannon!"
"And why exactly do you have that?"
"So that whenever there's a party, I could use it! Speaking of a party, have you still decided?"
We weren't exactly sure of a party. We did think of it as a good idea, but not right now. "Not yet," I told her.
"Oh well, once again, if you change your mind—"
"Okay, we get it!" I yelled.
"Gee, for new visitors, you seem to be the bitter one. Ciao!" She left in a rush. We were surprised.
"Are you okay, brother?" Sparky asked me.
"Yes," I answered. "It's just that she's getting a little bit on my nerves."
"I think she's just being nice," he said. "Besides, you said yesterday she might be caring for you."
"Whatever," I scoffed, as we kept on going.
10:30 a.m.
As we kept walking down the road, we met what seemed to be the Princess of Friendship herself: Twilight Sparkle. Sounds like our luck is beginning to turn.
"Oh, hey," she said. "Are you new around here?"
Sparky could not contain himself. "Oh my gosh, are you...?"
"Twilight Sparkle? Yes."
He was so happy to meet him that he jolted almost quickly over to Twilight to shake her hoof. "It's such a pleasure to meet you, Your Highness!"
"Don't call me 'Your Highness', sir," Twilight suggested. "Just call me Twilight."
"Yes, Twilight!" Sparky backed up to me.
"Anyways," I began, "my brother Sparky and I are just walking around to meet some other ponies around here. I believe we've happened to meet someone you might know? A pink Earth pony with balloons as their cutie mark?"
"Pinkie Pie, is it?" she guessed.
"Yep, that's the one," I said. "I don't understand why this pony keeps asking about a party."
Twilight smacked her lips. "I think it's because she has a big love for parties, especially for those who are new, like you two. And I think she wants to throw you two a party because she wants you to feel welcome here."
Now I see why she keeps asking us for a party. It's because she wants us to feel like home here.
"Huh," I said.
"Anyways, Twilight," Sparky then began, "what are you doing here this morning?"
"I'm looking out for some friendship problems," she answered. "Like some arguments, bitter relationships, etc."
"Okay," I said, looking confused.
"Oh, look at that!" she began exclaiming because her cutie mark began glowing. "I have to head back to the castle! Nice meeting you two, hope we see each other again!" Twilight then left us in a hurry.
Both of us were confused by what we saw. We never saw Twilight act like that before.
"What in the world was that?" Sparky said, weirded out.
"I don't know," I answered, while also weirded out. "But it's her own business. Let's just mind our own."
12:00 p.m.
A lot of ponies we've met have been very nice to us (for the most part). But there are a few that we've made new friends with. (Hooray! New friends!)
While we kept walking, we met a unicorn that had blue fur and different shades of brown for their mane and tail. Apparently, she was picking up some books that spilled because her box had broke. So because we didn't want her to do all the hard work by herself, we both walked to her and we sparked a conversation.
"Excuse me, mare?" Sparky said. "Do you need help?"
The blue unicorn glanced at us. "Yes, please. I'm headed to a meeting here in Ponyville. And I can't be late!"
So we all used our horns to pick up all the books and placed them back into the mare's box. She was happy we came to the rescue, otherwise she would've been tardy!
"Thank you, stallions," she said sweetly. "Without you, I would've been fired!"
"Don't mention it," I replied. "What's your name?"
She looked at us carefully. "Dr. Blue Star."
That name was very cute. "I'm Saturn," I introduced, "and this is my brother Sparky."
"Well, nice to meet you, Saturn and Sparky, but I have to go! Until next time!" Blue ran off.
Sparky looked at me. "Can you believe it? We've made a new friend here! Not counting Twilight and Pinkie, though."
"Yes, I can, Sparky. Yes, I can."
Now here's this one experience I can tell you. This experience — which wasn't so great — was that some pony did not set their brakes on a wagon they were using, and they almost crushed us to death! Thank Celestia we weren't in the way, or else I wouldn't be telling you this story right now.
We were walking near a hill. It looked steep, but not steep enough to be a mountain.
"What else is there to do?" I said to myself.
Then, Sparky called me. "Saturn!"
"What?" I looked his way to see that a runaway wagon was heading towards us. Sparky and I dodged it at the last second before it crashed into a tree.
The pony that was operating the wagon came to us in despair. "Oh my god, are you two okay?!"
"No, we aren't!" I yelled. "We could've died from that!"
She felt terrible. "I'm very, very sorry this happened."
"Whatever," I said. "It's okay. Just make sure it doesn't happen again."
Note to self: Always be aware of your surroundings 24/7. You'll never know what could come to you.
7:00 p.m.
I'm making another time skip to here because nothing else happened for today, other than what I mentioned earlier. We got back to our home safe and sound, even though it was dark at the time. Sparky turned on the houselights and laid on the couch, exhausted for what had happened today. I went to the kitchen to make some hay and bologna sandwiches, one of the few dishes I knew how to make. Maybe one day, I'll get a cook book so that I could cook more than just that.
"Today was a wild one!" Sparky exclaimed.
"Mainly because we almost died?" I questioned as I poured some hay onto the cutting board.
"That" — he said — "and the fact that we saw the Princess of Friendship today!"
Sparky would talk about princesses all day long. He's not a big obsessor though, but anytime we see something related to the royal family, he'd talk about it. I think they'll have a prince one day in the future? I don't know.
"Alright, eat up," I called as I poured the sandwiches down on the dinner table. "I've had enough crazy for one day."
We both sat down and ate our sandwiches. It tasted okay, the bread tasted stale, but the hay and bologna added the flavor.
"No offense to your cooking, Saturn," Sparky pointed out, "but these sandwiches don't live up to my expectations. I mean, why does it taste so weird? I don't count the hay and bologna, but I think you know what I'm talking about."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," I gossiped, "I don't care. You know I'm not the best cook you have right now."
"True that." Sparky finished his sandwich and put his plate in the sink. "Alright, I'm gonna go take a shower," he yawned. "You got the board game we purchased before we left?"
"Yep," I answered. Before we left Manehattan, I bought this cool board game called "Live in Equestria". It's a bit like those trivia guessing game shows I see a lot, except that this time, we — the audience — are the players. Here's how to play: you have to guess the correct answer, and if you get it right, you get one point. The goal of this game is to have the most points as possible. It's very fun, and I guarantee you, it'll be worth it.
7:30 p.m.
It was time for game night. The table was set up for me and Sparky to play on. He went downstairs as I sat. The cards were shuffled, the point counter was set to zero, and the bell that marked whether or not one has got it correct was placed in the middle.
"Ooh," he said in awe, "ready for me to beat your tail?"
"We'll see about that," I eagerly replied.
Sparky sat down on his seat, and the game was on. I picked up the first card, which read, "This pony was best known for attempting identity fraud." I said this to Sparky.
"Queen Chrysalis," he answered.
I rang the bell. He was correct. "Correct!" I shouted as I flipped his counter from zero to one.
"Yes!" he said to himself.
Now it was his turn. My question was: "This city shares the land border with Yakyakistan."
"Vanhoover!" I answered. I was correct. My counter flipped to one.
"Oh, ho-ho," Sparky laughed.
We kept on playing. Sparky continued getting many of the answers right, but me on the other hand, I get the buzzer.
8:00 p.m.
The game was almost over. We were thirty to thirty. And it was my turn. Since there was one card left, if I get this one wrong, Sparky wins.
"The place where Grogar once ruled," my question said.
"Shoot!" I said. I didn't know this one. I knew he wanted to take over this place called Ponyland, but where did he once rule? I kept thinking hard.
"10 seconds left," Sparky reminded me.
"Hold on, just give me time to think!" I tried to remember what it was. It started with a T, I think?
"5 seconds, Saturn!" he told me.
"You know what?!" I was going to answer at the last minute. "I think it's Tambelon! There! That's my final guess!"
Sparky's jaw dropped. "Correct..."
"I... I did?" I questioned.
"Yes," he said as he put my counter from thirty to thirty-one. I won!
"Let's go! I did it!" I celebrated.
"Psh, don't get too excited. I'll get you one day," he muttered.
"Like that's ever gonna happen," I gossiped.
8:25 p.m.
The table was clean of our game. We had to clean our house because although it was perfect, there was still some spots that weren't clean. Sparky was wiping off all the stains on the floor and kitchen counters. But as he was cleaning out some dust inside one of the kitchen cabinets, he noticed something that confused both of us. "Hey, Saturn?"
"What's up?" I asked while I was cleaning the windows.
"Have you noticed this in the cabinet?"
"What are you talking about?" I didn't remember seeing anything inside a kitchen counter.
"Come here," he said.
"Alright." I put down the sprayer and walked over to Sparky to see what he was mentioning.
He took out some kind of letter. "It said 'For any future owner of this house' on the front."
I took the letter from his hoof and opened it. This was what it said:
Dear future owner,
My name is Dr. Blue Star. I am writing this letter as quickly as I can, because our family got evicted from the house after a month. There's no good home that we could find, so we're currently living in the Everfree Forest, specifically, right by the waterfall, which ain't gonna be good, because there are lots of monsters that live here. So please, if you can, come donate some of your bits to us. We need a new home to live in.
Sincerely,
Blue Star
When it said "Dr. Blue Star", I immediately had a flashback. We met someone named Blue Star. Could this be the same unicorn? And another thing, why would she put a letter inside her house, telling a future owner that she's kicked out?
"Hold on," I said, "this says Dr. Blue Star."
"Yeah, why?" Sparky asked me. "Wait a minute..." Now he finally realized it. He gasped. "We saw a Dr. Blue Star during our walks!"
"That's right," I said, "but the thing that's bothering me is what was she doing here in Ponyville? Doesn't the letter say she lives in the Everfree Forest just outside?"
"Yes, it does," he replied. "Should we go meet up with her first thing tomorrow morning?"
"I don't know," I said. "Wouldn't that be stalking?"
Sparky looked at me. "Look, I need to know more about this pony. Now whether she has a life crisis or not, she might need our help. So are you in with me or not?"
I thought about it for a second. I couldn't decide if I should stay while Sparky helps Blue, or go with him to help her. But then, I exhaled. "I'm sorry, Sparky. But I'm not going to meet a stranger we don't even know."
"Are you sure?" he asked
"Yeah. I'll just stay here."
"Suit yourself." He went upstairs, while I stayed in the kitchen.
I took a second look at the note and read it. "Blue Star" keep echoing inside my mind. I didn't want to help her because we just met earlier, but at the same time, I do want to because she can't keep living like this.
"Oh god," I sighed. "What do I do? What do I do? What do I do?"
I looked at the stairway hall into our bedroom, and that included Sparky's room. I went back to the kitchen.
"Darn you, Sparky," I said. "I can't believe you're having to make me do this with you. Especially since we just moved here." I didn't say this in a mean way, but you probably know what I'm feeling right now.
As I was about to go upstairs and get a good night's sleep, I saw a blue unicorn outside our window. I opened the curtain and saw who it was. It appeared to have brown mane and a brown tail. And it also had goggles.
"Wait," I said to myself. "Is this her?"
I tried to deny it was her. "No, that can't be." But then, I noticed she had a name tag. "Hold on. What does that say?"
The unicorn's name tag read "Dr. Blue Star". It was her! She appeared to be walking to a forest. I closed the curtain.
"So Sparky is doing the right thing!" I uttered. "But why though? It might be impossible."
I went upstairs so that I could finally go to sleep, trying not to wake Sparky up. He really wanted to help her. As I laid down on my bed, I uttered a few words before I shut my eyes.
"Seems like you won't be alone anymore."
5:00 a.m.
Today was the day. Me and Sparky would find this "Dr. Blue Star" in the adjacent Everfree Forest so that we could help her and her family find a new home in Ponyville. I woke up early because I wasn't able to sleep properly. I did get 6 hours of sleep, but it's not enough. I went downstairs to heat up some pancakes for breakfast.
"Blue Star, Blue Star," the words echoed in my mind. I just can't stop thinking about it. Is Blue Star really homeless? If so, why did her outfit look as if she ain't homeless at all? Or is it a cover-up?
It was still dark outside, but I know that Princess Celestia would raise the sun later anyway. So I put my pancakes inside the microwave and set it for one minute. After that, I opened the door to breathe the pure oxygen from outside. The cold breeze hit my face like a fist. It was chilly for mildly warm weather set to hit us later in the afternoon. Then I closed the door, just as the microwave finished. I took out my pancakes and sat on the table.
"Should I heat some for Sparky too?" I wondered. "After all, we're gonna have a big day today."
I got up and got some more pancakes to heat up for Sparky once he wakes up. I did the same process I did earlier, heating up the pancakes in the microwave and then wait for it. And just as I got them out, I heard footsteps from upstairs. It was Sparky, who was still tired.
"Wakey-wakey!" I mocked him, saying the same thing he said to me yesterday. "Get a taste of your own medicine."
"Ha, ha, very funny," he said.
"Anyways, I'm heating you up some breakfast," I said. "Can't go adventuring with an empty stomach, eh?"
"Classic Saturn," he said as he shook his head.
"I heard that!" I yelled.
We both took a seat as I placed Sparky's pancakes on his spot on the table.
"Hm. Not bad," he said when he took his first bite.
"Are you being sarcastic?" I asked. I didn't think he was serious the first time.
"No! The flavor on this is at least tastable." He took another bite.
I was confused. Did he finally have a change of taste or something?
"Anyways, about that Dr. Star," I began, "I think..."
Sparky put his pancake down. "You're going?"
I sighed. "Yes. But don't get too excited about it —"
He ran over to me and hugged me. "Thank you, thank you, thank you! I knew you wouldn't let me down!"
"I'm only doing this because I have pity for you," I explained.
Sparky pushed that aside. "I don't care. All I care is that you're with me, little bro!"
"Bro"? What kind of word is that?
"Let's get ready!" He ran up the stairs in a rush.
"Wait, aren't you gonna finish your pancakes?" I asked. But he was long gone already. "Ugh, nevermind."
6:00 a.m.
We were both dressed and ready. I put all the food in the fridge, in case she would visit. Sparky was already waiting for me at the front door. He really wanted to help, does he?
"Come on, Saturn!" he called me.
"I'm coming, I'm coming," I said.
I came down the stairs, looking rushed, but definitely ready to start the day. "Ready to start, I guess?"
"You bet I would!" So he opened the door.
The morning sun shone across our eyes. It seemed like Princess Celestia was finally rising the Sun.
"Day 3 of us in Ponyville!" Sparky said.
"2 days not counting our first arrival," I suggested.
"Whatever!" he ignored.
We closed the door and left to the Everfree Forest, not knowing what the dangers might lurk inside.
6:15 a.m.
The Everfree Forest was dark, and eerie. The twigs and leaves lowered down on us as we kept going forward. There was no turning back now. We were already deep into the forest, and I especially didn't want to let Sparky down.
"Jeez," I exclaimed, "this forest is so thick!"
"Thick trees can't stop me," Sparky said. Oh boy, he's in his adventure mode, something he's always had since he was a colt. "I'm Speedy Sparky! Not Scaredy Sparky. And I'm not just the mighty one. I'm also the one with a hearty!"
"Hearty"? What? Of all the things he could've said, it was "hearty". Is he now trying to become a poet writer or something? There was too much rhyme and alliteration there. There's no way he's becoming a poet writer when he gets older. I don't think rhymes work like that!
"There it is!" he pointed out. I looked.
There on the other side of the bushes, was a small, wooden, poorly-made cottage. I looked so dumbfounded when I saw that.
"Wha —? What kind of house is that?" I exclaimed in disgust.
"Hey, don't go too angry mode now," Sparky said to me. "This was probably the best they could do. Maybe they just didn't have enough bits."
Then, out of one of the trees, came Dr. Blue Star. She was picking up some flowers from a garden nearby.
"Wow," I said to myself. "No wonder she was walking towards the forest last night."
"What was that?" asked Sparky.
"Nothing," I lied.
As we were about to move, Sparky accidentally stepped on a branch, which made a loud noise.
Blue was surprised when she heard it. "Who's there?!"
She was approaching the bush that we were hiding in. We were doomed at that time.
"Hello?" She opened one of the bushes, revealing us. "Ah! What are you doing here?!"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, calm down," I said. "We're not here to invade you!"
"Yeah!" said Sparky. "We're here because of a letter that you might've written at an old house."
"Old house?" She didn't know what we were talking about, but after a second, she now knew. "Oh!"
This was a bad idea from the start. I knew we shouldn't have come here.
"Wait," she stopped. "Aren't you two the ones I met yesterday?"
"Yeah," I said slowly.
"No way!" she exclaimed. "You two are the new owners of our old house?!"
"Yes." Maybe this wasn't such a bad idea after all. But I still have my doubts.
Then, we heard a door opening from the house. It was Blue's father.
"Blue?!" he called. "Where are you?"
"Coming, father!" she answered. Then she looked to us. "Come on. I want to introduce you to my family."
We agreed to go with her.
Blue's father then saw Blue with us. "Blue, get back from them!"
"No!" she bellowed. "These are the two unicorns that saved my job yesterday."
"Really?" he asked.
"Yes, sir," I said hesitantly.
"Well," he began, "it's nice that you helped my daughter, or else we would still be staying here."
"Still staying here?" I questioned.
"Thanks to you saving my tail back there, I'm finally getting paid some bits, enough for us to purchase a small cottage back in Ponyville!" she explained. "Thank you!"
"No problem," Sparky said.
I'm glad we helped her yesterday and got the house we have right now. Because we probably wouldn't be having this wonderful meeting at this very moment.
"Anyways, you two look exhausted from all this exploring," Blue's father said to us. "You both want anything to eat?"
"Umm, no thanks," I said.
"Actually, yes, sir!" Sparky said.
Blue's father was confused on which choice we were split on.
"Well, anyhow, come inside. You shouldn't have to stay out here," he offered.
"Thanks, sir!" Sparky said.
I rolled my eyes as we all entered the house.
The handmade house by Blue's family didn't look too bad inside, though it still looked a little poor around. Blue's mother was there too. She was surprised when she met us.
"Oh my goodness!" she cried. "You two must be the stallions Blue told us about! Saturn and Sparky, right?"
"Yes, we are!" Sparky told her.
"Well, it's nice to have guests here for once," she said. "It's been awhile since we've had some in our old house. Speaking of our old house, how did you find us here?"
It was pretty obvious. I explained to her how we got here.
"By letter?" she asked. "My my, Blue never told us about that when we got kicked out."
Blue smiled at her. "You're welcome!"
Blue's father came in and cleared his throat. "Well," he interrupted, "I've got some cauliflower for us to eat later. How about we keep talking to get to know each other better? I'll start." He sat down. "So, Saturn and Sparky, what are you two doing here in Ponyville? We've never seen you here before."
"Ha! It's a really long story!" Sparky said. "Me and my little brother just wanted to live our own lives, after we've lived with our parents in Manehattan our whole lives. Until two days ago, when we finally moved out."
"Yep," I said. "Our travel here was quite a fun ride. Here in Ponyville so far, it's quite decent."
"Decent? Why decent?" asked Blue.
"Well," I began, "we met with some big bully from long ago that threatened to attack us."
"Oh my!" she exclaimed. "That's terrible!"
"You can say that again," Sparky said.
Now Blue's father began his talk. "Now it's my turn. I was reading a newspaper I had, which said that there would be a meteor shower projected to fly by Ponyville tomorrow. I was wondering if I could invite you when we go see it."
Sparky looked at me.
"I guess you can," I told him.
Sparky stood up. "Shooting stars? I promised my BBF that we'd see the shooting stars once we get here!"
"Is that so?" asked Blue's father. "Well, you came at the right time."
"We sure did," Sparky said.
I made a faintly visible smile. I liked seeing both of us making new friends, especially in Ponyville. Here's some more context: we usually never talk to a lot of ponies, and since we get busy on our own projects, we've had a lack of communication with others. But that was from the past. Now that we're finally in Ponyville, we had to throw away our old, poor selves into the trash and replace them with new and improved versions of ourselves.
"Wow!" Blue cried. "You two really care for each other, do you?"
"Yeah," Sparky told her. "And nothing's gonna break out relationship apart! Even when we have our bickerings."
By the time Sparky finished his response, the cauliflower Blue's father was heating up was done. He went into his kitchen to get it, while the rest of us kept talking.
"So," Blue's mother asked us, "did you have any plans during your first visit in Ponyville?"
"Oh..." I wasn't sure how to explain this, since our first visit here in Ponyville wasn't the best. "Yeah, it wasn't really the best we've had."
"How come?" she asked.
"Well, the bully I told you encountered us for the first time in a long time that day, and your old house looked so broken on the inside."
Blue and her mother felt pity for us.
"Sorry about that," Blue said. "I'm not sure how long it's been since we left, so we didn't know that happened."
"But on the other hand," Sparky then began explaining, "we got to meet not one, but two bearers of the Elements of Harmony: Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie."
"No way! Them?!" Blue asked. "I've never met one up close! How were they?"
"They were nice," I answered. "But Pinkie kept asking us for a welcome party, which we didn't agree with at first, but thought about it."
"That welcome party would've been nice to come to," she said. "Meeting new friends, more socializing, you know!"
"Maybe you're right, girl," I agreed. "The next time we see her, I'll tell her we're ready."
Blue's father came back from the kitchen and gave us our cauliflower. "Alright, eat up. We have a lot of work to do if we want a new house. And Saturn and Sparky, thank you for visiting us. You're welcome here anytime. That is, until we have our new house."
"You're welcome!" Sparky and I said.
7:15 a.m.
Our second breakfast with the Stars was quite nice to have breakfast with. I even like their personalities, but I still didn't feel comfortable around Blue. I'll also start calling Blue's parents Mr. and Mrs. Star from now on.
"Once again, stallions, thank you for having the time to come here, even if it was early in the morning," Mrs. Star said. "We appreciate it!"
"You're welcome," Sparky answered.
"Anyways," I interrupted, "it's about time we go now."
"Why?" Blue asked.
"We just have to."
Sparky was confused. "Wait, Saturn—"
I took Sparky from his seat and walked out the front door. "It was nice seeing you all. Hope we can meet again!" But before we could go out, Sparky grabbed onto me.
"Hold on," he said to me. "Let me say this to Blue."
Sparky ran over to Blue and said a few words I could hear.
"Will you be my friend?"
Blue was shocked by this. "Oh my gosh, absolutely! Yes, I'd like to be friends with you and Saturn!"
My jaw dropped immediately. I can't believe we were friends with someone else! Looks like Sparky really did change himself, did he?
"Uhh," he stuttered. "Well, thank you for saying this! Now we can go! Goodbye!" And he pushed himself and I out the door.
"What the heck was that?" I asked Sparky.
"I wanted to ask her if we wanna be friends," he answered. "She said yes."
"I think we could've done that for next time," I said. "I mean, come on, we've just met her properly."
"True, but she still looked kinda nice."
Whatever. Blue and us are friends now, so let's just put this thing behind us and head back to Ponyville. I've had enough this morning. Not the full day, but you know.
11:00 a.m.
Sparky and I decided to go for another walk today to meet more ponies (except for that). And we met Pinkie Pie. Jeez, how does she keep finding us?
"Hey, you two!" she said excitedly. "So have you finally decided?"
"Decided on what?" I asked.
"The party," she replied.
"Yep. We're going to have it." Now it's finally done. She won't keep asking us for a party.
"Fantastic! When will you have it set?" she questioned. There was a schedule.
"Probably tomorrow or so," I answered. I am absolutely not going to have the party happen tonight. It's way too early for that to happen.
"Okay, where do you two live?" she asked us.
"Right by the outskirts of Ponyville," I said. "Specifically, by the big river."
Pinkie was finished with a schedule by the time we said that. "Alright! You're all set! See ya!"
"Goodbye," Sparky and I said as we left.
When we got out, Sparky said a few things to me.
"What made you so accepting of her now?" he asked.
"I dunno," I replied. "Probably a change of heart, I guess."
He chuckled. "I hope so."
5:00 p.m.
Sparky went out to explore the rest of Ponyville, while I stayed to clean up the house. Then I heard the doorbell ring. Who could that be? I wondered. So I opened the door, and to my surprise, it was Dr. Blue Star. Her smile was brightly gleaming.
"Um, hello," she said. "Is Sparky here?"
"No, why?" I asked.
"I want to thank the both of you," she answered.
Why could she be here to thank us? We literally did nothing this morning when we went to her so-called "house". So I asked her, "Why thank us?"
She exhaled. "I'm finally getting a proper home."
I gasped. "What?! How? We literally did nothing but chatter and eat this morning!"
She laughed. "You really don't know, do you?"
"No, I don't." I didn't know anything about what she was saying.
"Well," she now began to explain, "after you visited us this morning, I knew I wanted to make sure I'm the perfect friend for the two of you. You know, like, not messy and stuff. So to reach that goal, I worked hard and hard at my job, impressing everybody, even my boss. And now that he's impressed, he's finally giving me a paycheck!"
I was shocked. I didn't know what to say. But I did know that Sparky would've been real proud of her. "Well, congratulations! You deserved that paycheck to begin with."
She blushed, but not in a romantic way (Yuck!). "You think that?"
"I think that," I said. "I believe Sparky would've been real proud of you. Wait 'til I tell him the news."
To my surprise, she ran to me and gave me a hug. I smiled, just as Sparky got back from his exploration, just in time to see the good news.
"What's going on here?" he asked.
"Oh, Sparks!" I called. "You're just in time to see that Dr. Blue Star has finally gotten a new home in Ponyville!"
"Wait a minute, are you serious?" he questioned.
"Yeah, Sparky!" Blue answered. "I now have a new home thanks to you!"
Sparky stood there for a few seconds before he joined us in our group hug.
"I'm so proud of you, Blue," he said happily.
"Thank you... Saturn and Sparky."
We ended our probably minute-long hug and before Blue left, Sparky asked her something.
"Hey, Blue!" he called.
"Hm?" she answered.
"You want to join us for our house party tomorrow?"
Of course he was gonna ask that.
"Sure I do!" Blue said. "Anyways, see you later!"
"Bye!" Sparky and I said before we closed the door.
10:15 p.m.
I decided to check our mailbox for any letters, and one of them came from Pinkie Pie. "Wait, Pinkie Pie?" I said as I closed the mailbox door and went inside. Sparky was there, reading a book.
"Sparks," I called, "one of our letters is from Pinkie Pie."
"Pinkie Pie?" he said. "How could she be sending letters to us right now?"
"There's only one way to find out." I opened the envelope, and inside were some decorations for the party, and a notice saying that she'll be coming to our house tomorrow afternoon.
"Oh, right!" I exclaimed. "I told her our location."
"Well," Sparky said, "prepare for the biggest party in our new lives in Ponyville."
"True that," I replied.
I put the envelope down and went upstairs to go to sleep. "I'm exhausted," I yawned. "You coming up?"
"Later," Sparky said. "I still have to finish my book. I'm only like, five pages away from the end of the chapter."
"Okay," I said as I went upstairs and into the bedroom.
I brushed my teeth and laid down on my bed. There, from that point on, I still kept thinking about Blue. I never thought she was lying, but how could we be so sure that she's finally not homeless anymore? Those thoughts stood in my brain as I shut my eyes and went to sleep, as the stars twinkled over Ponyville, and into our bedroom.
Author's Note
I'm cutting this chapter short because there ain't anything else to tell here other than Blue's announcement and the decision of the party.
8:00 a.m.
8:00 a.m.? I really woke up that late? Eh, it's fine, whatever. I'm not doing anything today anyway, other than having to set up our decorations for the party I signed with Pinkie Pie yesterday.
I got down, and Sparky was on the couch, reading some kind of newspaper. Since when did he read newspapers?
"Mornin', brother!" he said.
"Good morning," I said back. "What are you doing?"
"Remember the shower that Blue told us about? The one we were going to see?" he said.
"Yeah, why?" I asked.
"Well, it's happening tonight!"
Hold on a second. Tonight?! That's during our party!
"Wait- wait a sec," I stuttered, "did you say 'tonight'?"
"Yeah," he said. "Why?"
"Don't you know what today is?" I had to remind him what today was.
"No?" he said. "Oh..." Now he knows.
"Well, what are we gonna do? We can't cancel the party now, we've aleady paid some bits for it!" I sighed.
Sparky had an idea. "Ooh, I know! How about during the party, once the time comes, we could just tell everyone we could watch it!"
I wasn't sure if it was gonna work, but it's better off giving it a chance, right? "Okay. Hopefully it works."
"You'll be so sure I'll guarantee it'll work!"
So we rushed out and looked for Pinkie Pie.
8:20 a.m.
It wasn't long until we caught up with Pinkie Pie at Sugarcube Corner.
"Pinkie!" I yelled. She noticed me.
"Ah! Can I help you?" she asked us.
"As a matter of fact, yes," Sparky told her. "The party we asked for is happening at the same night as the meteor shower tonight."
Pinkie was even more happier than before. "Goodie! Now we can have something else to do after the party! It'll be a jolly good time!"
We took word, and we agreed with that, but it was during a busy time of the party! "Can't we reschedule it?"
"No, silly!" Pinkie said. "This is the perfect time to do the party! Especially with the meteor shower coming later!"
Great. But, hopefully, all of us could watch it.
"Okay," I said. "It better live up to our expectations, though."
"We won't let you down!" Pinkie exclaimed. "See ya at the party!"
We left Sugarcube Corner.
"Cheer up, grumpy pants," Sparky told me. "We'll do something about it!"
"Yeah, whatever." We better.
9:30 a.m.
There was absolutely no way we were inviting Trail Blazer to that party. He's gonna smash all of our stuff to bits if we do so! And why am I talking about him right now during this time? Well... let's just say, we had a little run-in with each other. How do we keep running into him every single time?
"Hey," Trail said to us sternly, "don't think you two are going anywhere. I haven't gotten my full revenge on you yet."
Yeah, right. Revenge? Pah! I've got something better than that.
"What do you want from us?" I spoke back to him.
"Your tail ends," he said back to me. Sparky almost lost it from that. "Hey, don't laugh, beanie boy!"
"Well, jokes on you," I said, "because ever since we got here, we've learned that you have to face new obstacles in your lifetime, no matter how hard it is, especially considering that one of those obstacles we have to face is none other than you, red-head."
Trail was backing away from me as I walked to him. Yeah, that's right. I've finally toughened up.
"So," I continued, "next time you try to pick on little, innocent ponies like us, think twice before you do that. Because we... are Saturn and Sparky White, the all-new twin brothers in Ponyville."
Trail made a whistle, and not just any whistle, but a whistle that calls his "buddies" in. Sparky and I were outnumbered. But we're not giving up here. Not especially this time.
"Oh dear," Sparky said worriedly. "What are we gonna do, Saturn?"
"You have to fight them," I told him.
"What?!" he exclaimed. "I haven't fought anyone in my life!"
"Well, you're gonna have to. We have no other choice." I never thought I wanted to have Sparky fight someone, but we're not going down immediately.
Trail cracked his head. "Well, well, well, Saturn and Sparky. Looks like you've reached the end of the line this time."
It wasn't the end of the line for us, but him.
"Charge!" Trail commanded with his "buddies" as they ran toward us.
"Remember what we trained for," I told Sparky.
"Roger that," he said back.
The first one ran into me, but I dodged it with teleportation, and he crashed into a wall. He chased after me as I kept running around. Sparky, on the other hand, was also doing alright. He sometimes felt afraid of doing things he usually wouldn't do, but this was an exception.
"Come on!" Trail said to them. "Fight them, not be fought!"
I sneaked up behind Trail and I tackled on him. Sparky saw me do that.
"Whoo!" he called. "You go, brother!"
My fight between myself and Trail got so intense that it formed a small dust cloud. Sparky wanted to join in on the action too, so he ran into the cloud and helped me fight Trail Blazer.
"You useless unicorns just don't know when to give up, do you?" Trail said.
"No," said Sparky, "but we know what to do in worst-case scenarios like this."
After what felt like forever, Trail was finally down. Our worst enemy from the past was finally gone. Well, not gone gone, but you know what I mean.
"Agh," he gruffed. "This won't be the last you saw of me. Next time, I will get revenge, and you will regret everything you've done today. You will regret it!" And he ran off in a rush.
Sparky and I hoof-bumped each other.
"Let's not do that again, shall we?" Sparky asked me.
"Agreed," I said.
5:00 p.m.
Well, now that our fight with Trail Blazer was over, I don't think we'll be seeing him anytime soon. Even when he said he'll get revenge on us, I doubt it.
Pinkie Pie's decorating team came to our house at this time.
"Saturn and Sparky White, right?" one of the decorators asked.
"Yep, that's us," Sparky told him.
"Alright. I need you to sign this paper." He got a pen and Sparky signed it, while I made sure everything was clean for the party. "Okay. Now let's get this party decorated." And soon, we got to work.
5:30 p.m.
Everything was finally decorated. The floors were sweeped, the bunting swung above the windows, and balloons were placed in every corner. I think this will be a great party.
"Okay, you're all set. Have fun!" the decorators said as they all left. Sparky closed the door and looked back to the interior of the house. He took a deep breath.
"You know, little brother," he told me, "I think this'll the best party we've ever had. But it's a shame Mom and Dad aren't gonna be here to witness it."
Oh shoot! I forgot about Mom and Dad! How could I be so stupid, not remembering them during our time here? Now that he said it, I knew they wouldn't be here for a while, so I frowned. "Sparks," I began, "even though Mom and Dad may not be here anytime soon, I just wanted to tell you that no matter what happens, you'll always be there for me, right?"
"Of course I will," he said. "What makes you think I wouldn't?"
I began tearing up. "Think about everything we did recently. I mean, doing things that normally you wouldn't do, such as fighting? I'm not the best brother that could make those kinds of choices correctly. I don't think I deserved to be your BBF, anyway."
Sparky smiled. "Saturn, all that matters is that you're with me. And no matter what happens, I'll always be with you."
"Always?" I asked.
"Always."
I hugged him. He truly was the best brother I've ever had.
"There, there," he said calmly.
"Stop it," I said. "I've already had enough of those baby-ish phrases."
"Don't worry," he said. "I will." He better, though.
Our thirty-second long hug was over, and we heard the doorbell ring from the outside.
"That must be our first guests," Sparky guessed. So he opened the door, and surprise, surprise, it was the one and only Dr. Blue Star and her parents.
"Blue!" Sparky said. "You're here!"
"Yep," Blue said. "And I have my parents with me."
"Hello," both of her parents said.
"So glad you two could also make it!" Sparky also said.
"So are we," they both said.
I was too busy wiping my tears after that talk, so as to not let Blue and her family know that I was crying.
"Where's Saturn?" Blue asked.
"He's coming," Sparky said as I ran over quickly, with no teardrops visible in my eyes this time.
"Hey!" I said.
Blue giggled. "Hello, Saturn."
"So when's the party?" Blue's father asked.
"I believe, at like six to seven?" I answered. That was my best estimate.
"Oh," he said. "Well, we're an hour early."
"Ah, it's fine," Sparky said. "Make yourself at home here for now. We're waiting for a couple more guests, if Pinkie Pie invited them."
"Pinkie Pie?" Blue's mother asked. "Like, the Element of Laughter?"
"Yep," he replied.
"Wow." Blue's mother was amazed. Didn't she heard it when we said we met Twilight and Pinkie in our first days here in Ponyville? Eh, forget it, let's have a great time here.
6:30 p.m.
It wasn't long until a handful of ponies arrived at our house party. A DJ named DJ Pon-3 handled the disc jockey stand, this blue unicorn, AKA, "The Great and Powerful Trixie"(what a possibly unbelievable name that was) was here, and the rest of the Elements of Harmony were here as well, including Twilight and Pinkie. We met Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash. Jeez, Pinkie really did invite all of these ponies to our party, did she? But whatever, it's better than nothing, cuz we got to socialize with them.
"So, ya both are new here, right?" Applejack asked us.
"Yep," I said. "Took a while to get used to the new surroundings, but all of it was worth it."
"Nice," she said back. "Great to see you're liking Ponyville."
Afterwards, we saw Rainbow Dash.
"Ha!" she laughed. "You two? Fighting your worst enemy from the past? Like that ever happened."
Sparky and I looked at each other. "Well, we'll have you know that we're as tough as a rock. And look at our hooves. You can't say you can't see a marking on those."
"You probably just did that to yourself on purpose." And so, she walked away. We were confused, but it was funny talking to her.
Then, we met Fluttershy. Shy (duh), but kind.
"Hello, Fluttershy," I called. "We mean no harm. Just two new unicorns in Ponyville."
"Really?" she said.
"Really," I said back.
And then, Rarity passed by.
"Ooh," she noticed, "what kind of outfit are those?"
"What outfit?" Sparky asked.
"Nevermind." And Fluttershy and Rarity left us.
"That was weird," Sparky said to me.
"I know," I replied.
Pinkie Pie rang a cowbell on our table. Our table?! She's gonna break it if she stands on that for too long!
"Fillies and gentlecolts," she announced, "tonight is the meteor shower on Ponyville! Please make your way to the front of the house immediately! We don't want to make this welcome party a sore for Saturn and Sparky!"
I doubt the guests here know about us. "Sorry, everyone, Pinkie doesn't know what she's talking about."
"Yeah, I do!" Pinkie said.
Out of the blue, however, some of the guests here said, "Welcome to Ponyville!" and "Hope you enjoy your stay here in Ponyville!" Huh. Kinda surprised this is happening.
"Sparks," I said to Sparky, "what are they doing?"
"I think they're welcoming us," he replied. "But I don't know why though."
"Me neither."
Then, a streak of blue light flashed from one of the windows outside. Pinkie knew what it was. "Ah! It's the meteor shower! Come on, everyone!" And we all rushed out of the house and outside.
There, in the clear skies, were shooting stars. I was stunned at what I was seeing. I remembered that Sparky made the bucket list that had the bullet point: "See the Stars". Looks like it's coming true. Sparky and I were finally having something done from the bucket list.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" Sparky asked me.
"It sure is, Sparky. It sure is." I wrapped my front leg around Sparky and watched the stars from the ground. Maybe. Just maybe, Ponyville is finally the best place for our new lives.
Author's Note
Well, this is where Saturn & Sparky's story ends. For now. I really want to do something with them in a future story, so stay tuned for that one.
P.S. Sorry for the possibly-rushed ending of this story. I really wanted to get this done quickly.
