Chapters My name’s Speedy Gal. Today was my first day at Flight Academy! As I flew there, a thought came into my head. What if no-one likes me? I didn’t have much time to think about it, because before I knew it, I was there!
“You must be Speedy Gal!” A teacher greeted. I turned around to see a brown, male pegasus with a basket ball for a cutie mark.
“Uh, yeah.” I replied. “How did you know?”
“Uh...” He pointed to my horn.
“Oh, yeah...” I replied. Since I was an alicorn, everypony finds it easy to recognise me.
“I’m Couch Basket.” He told me. “I’ve been elected to show you around the school. Come on!” He trotted off and I flew after him.
“Where are we going?” I asked him. The hallway seamed to go on forever.
“First, I have to show you your room.” Couch Basket answered. When we reached a door, he opened it and we went in. I saw to fillies in there. One green and one white and red. “June Bug, Mistletoe, meat Speedy Gal. She’s your new roommate!” I noticed three beds in the big room.
“Hi...” I waved. I was so nervous.
“Hi!” The green filly with a lady bug cutie mark greeted. “I’m June Bug! My friends call me June!”
“I’m Mistletoe.” The other filly with a mistletoe cutie mark said.
“I’ll let you two get acquainted.” Couch Basket announced. “Come to the gym when class starts and I’ll continue to show you around.” He went out and closed the door.
“I guess we’re roommates!” Mistletoe said.
“Yeah...” I nervously replied.
“Why are you so nervous?” June asked. I sighed and turned to show her that I didn’t have a cutie mark! Mistletoe gasped.
“Mistle!” June yelled. “It’s okay to not have a cutie mark! I didn’t have mine until a year ago!”
“Really?” I asked hopefully.
“Yeah!” June replied as she hugged me. “Mistle didn’t have hers until a month ago!”
“Dude!” Mistle yelled.
“It’s dudet when addressing a girl!” June replied. “The point is, we all get our cutie marks at one point! Some later than others!”
“Wait,” Mistle noticed. “You’re an alicorn!”
“Oh, yeah!” June realised.
“Yeah...” I replied.
“Do some magic!” June said as she bounced up and down.
“Okay...” I agreed. I made Mistle’s bed levitate, with her on it!
“Cool!” June and Mistle complimented in unison.
“Maybe magic’s your special talent!” Mistle suggested. Maybe she was right! Suddenly, my flank started to flask.
“I’m getting my cutie mark!” I yelled so fast that no-one could understand me. There it was! On my flank appeared a spell book with wings on it! “Wahoo!” I hugged my roommates and jumped around the room. “This is the best day ever!” The bell rang.
“We have to get to class now.” June admitted sadly.
“Bye.” I waved. I galloped off to the gymnasium.
When it was time for lunch, I walked into the lunch hall.
“Hi, Speedy!” June greeted me.
“Hi, June!” I replied. I tried to sound confident.
“Do you wanna sit together?” June asked.
“Okay.” I agreed. “Uh, where do we get our lunches?”
“Follow me!” June told me. She galloped off to a wall. It had a scanner on it. “Put your hoof on the scanner and it will give you a tray with one of your favourite lunches!”
“Okay...” I said hesitatingly. I put my hoof in the panel and one of my favourite lunches appeared. I licked my lips. “Yes! Pizza and chocolate pudding for desert!” I took my tray. June did the same. She had a tray with a salad and a cupcake with pink icing and a strawberry for desert.
“Where should we sit?” June asked. I saw an empty table.
“How about there?” I asked as I pointed to it.
“Okay!” June agreed. We flew to the table and sat down.
“Wanna share?” I asked.
“What do you mean?” June asked.
“I’d give you half of my pizza if you game me half of your salad!” I answered.
“Sure!” June agreed. I cut my pizza into pieces and gave June half of them and June gave me half of our salad.
“Mm!” I hummed as I ate some salad. “This is delicious!”
“The pizza is, too!” June replied as she took another bite of pizza.
“I’m done with being shown around the school,” I started. “So I can go to class tomorrow!”
“Yay!” June clapped. “I hope we have the same classes!”
When we were done, I went to put my stuff in my locker. But when I saw it, I noticed that there was a note in it. When I took it out, I noticed that the envelope was closed with a heart sticker. I opened it and read the letter. It said ‘Dear, Speedy. You don’t know me, but I’ve seen you. I think that you have a hot flank. I would like to go with you to the Skylight Dance. If you want to reply, leave your letter at locker 296. Love, a secret admirer. XOXO.’. I couldn’t believe my eyes! Someone said that I had a hot flank! I suppose I should give him the benefit of the doubt. I trotted to my room.
When I got there, I went to my desk and took out a pen and paper.
“What should I write?” I asked myself. “I know!” I wrote on my paper ‘Dear, Mystery Stallion. Wait, are you a stallion? Anyway, I was a little startled at first when you said that I had a ‘Hot flank’, but now that I think about it, I think it’s kind of flattering! Thank you for the compliment. Anyway, I think that we should get to know each other before we go to the starlight dance together. I have a few questions for you. When did you first see me? Are you smart? Are you creative? I await your reply and I hope you have some questions for me. Signed Speedy.’. I took a white envelope, put the letter in it and closed the envelope. I ran down to find locker 296.
Eventually, I found it. I put the envelope into the locker and trotted back to my room.
“We’re back!” June said as she jumped back into our room.
“Hi!” I said. I was lying down on my bed, not really paying attention.
“What’s wrong?” June asked.
“Nothing!” I answered. I sat up, revealing that I was still holding the letter.
“Whatcha got there?” June smirked.
“Nothing!” I lied. I hid it under my bed. June dived under the bed and picked up my letter. “Oh, no!” June read the letter.
“You’ve got a secret admirer!” June smirked.
“Who has?” Mistle asked as she walked in.
“Speedy!” June answered.
“Cool!” Mistle commented.
“I know!” I replied. “I wrote him a letter! And soon he’s gonna reply!” I jumped up and down on my bed.
“Have you met him yet?” Mistle asked.
“No.” I answered sadly. “He said I didn’t know him.” I lied down on my bed again.
“You better meet him soon,” June started. “Because the Skylight Dance is in one month!”
“Yeah!” I replied. I imagined myself in a white dress, at the Skylight Dance, holding hands with a stallion.
The next day, we went to class.
“Good morning, everypony.” The teacher greeted. She was a red mare with a ruler for a cutie mark. She was standing in front of a chalk board with ‘Mrs Minus.’ written on it. “We have a new student today! Everypony, say hi to Speedy Gal!” I waved, nervously. “Now, let’s get to work.”
When class was finished for the day, I went to my locker. There was a letter in it.
“Yay!” I cheered. I took it out and galloped to my room.
‘Dear, Speedy. I am a stallion. I get straight As in every class, including art, so I am creative. I first saw you at lunch, talking to your friend. Sorry that I startled you with ‘Hot flank’. It sounded better in my head. I don’t have any questions for you. We could learn more about each other at the dance, so, do you want to go to the Skylight Dance with me? Love, your Mystery Stallion.’
“Got another letter?” June asked as she flew into the room.
“Yeah!” I hugged it to my chest. “He asked me to go to the dance with me!”
“How will you know it’s him?” June asked.
“I’ll tell him that we’ll wait by the punch bowl!” I replied.
“How did you know that there’s a punch bowl?” June asked.
“There’s always one at school dances!” I answered. I took another envelope and some paper, and began writing again.
‘Dear, Mystery Stallion. Of course I’ll go to the dance with you. Let’s meat at the punch bowl. I can’t wait to find out why you are! Love, Speedy.’
“’Love’?” June asked.
“Yeah.” I replied. “He always writes love!”
“Yeah, I suppose your right...” June replied. “If you’re going to the dance, you’ll need a dress! I’ll make you one!”
“Really?” I asked.
“Yeah!” June replied. “It’s what friends do!” She took her tape measure and measured me. I’ll go design it now!” I put my letter in the envelop and went off to send it.
End of first chapter.
It had been a month since I agreed to go to the Skylight Dance, and it was tonight!
“Can you believe it?” I asked June as we jumped with excitement. We were both wearing our dresses that she made us. Mine was white, pretty, posh and formal, and her’s was pink & purple, covered with pictures of lady bugs, cute and frilly.
“No!” June replied. “Our date’s are gonna see us wearing beautiful dresses!”
“Yeah!” I replied. I span around. “How long till it starts?”
“Five minutes!” June answered.
“We better get going!” I replied. We both flew to the dance; I galloped most of the way.
‘When will he get here?’ I thought. I was sitting next to the table the punch bowl was on. I saw a light blue pegasus mare with a rainbow mane.
“Hi.” The mare said.
“Hi.” I replied.
“What’s wrong?” She asked.
“For the past month, I’ve been getting letters from a secret admirer, and he asked me to the dance, and we agreed to meet here, but he’s not here.” I answered, banging my head on the table.
“I got stood up, too.” She replied, pulling me up by the neck of my dress.
“Who by?” I asked.
“Strawberry Jam.” She admitted.
“That sucks.” I replied as I blew my perfectly styled mane out of my face. “What’s your name?”
“Rainbow Dash.” She answered.
“The Rainbow Dash?” I asked. I had heard of her before! She wasn’t just on the sports team! She was the best player on the sports team!
“Yeah.” She answered. She sat down next to me.
“S-Speedy Gal?” A stallion a said to me.
“Yeah?” I asked.
“It’s me.” He replied.
“Who?” I asked.
“You’re secret admirer!” He answered.
“It’s so good to finally meat you!” I said as leapt to my hooves.
“You, too!” He replied. “Wanna dance?”
“Uh, okay.” I agreed. I turned to Rainbow Dash. “Sorry, Dash. I’ll talk to you later.”
“It’s okay.” Dash replied. As the stallion grabbed my front right hoof and walked me to the dance floor, I waved to Rainbow Dash, and she waved back.
“So, what’s your name?” I asked him as we danced.
“Strawberry Jam!” He answered.
“What?” I yelled as I flew back.
“What’s wrong?” He asked as he flew towards me.
“You stood up my friend!” I answered. I flew to the punch bowl, filled a glass with punch and threw it at him.
“No I didn’t!” He disagreed, as he got drenched in punch.
“But Dash said...” I started. But then I realised something. “Dash?”
“Yeah?” Dash said.
“How did he ask you to the dance?” I asked.
“Through a letter.” She answered. “He told me his name and asked me to the dance!”
“I think I know what’s going on.” I said. I flew up.
“What are you doing?” Jam asked.
“Attention everypony!” I yelled. Everypony looked at me. “If you wrote a letter to Rainbow Dash, tell me!” Nopony said anything. “Alright, if you wanna play it that way...” I cast a truth spell. “Okay, then, who wrote Dash a letter?”
“We did.” A brown stallion with a bowling ball cutie mark said, his eyes were swirling from the spell. He was in between a blue stallion with a pin cutie mark and a yellow stallion with an ice-cream cutie mark, both of them had swirly eyes too.
“We thought it would be funny.” The blue one added.
“Why?” Rainbow Dash asked. She flew up, angry and wanting revenge. “Why would it be funny?”
“We don’t know.” The yellow one answered. Dash charged as them, but I levitated her back.
“Why did you use Strawberry Jam?” I asked, glaring at him.
“We needed a stallion to use.” The blue one answered.
“And he seemed like the best choice.” The brown one added. A million things to say ran through my head, including ‘Why?’ and ‘Don’t you have lives of your own?’, but all I could say was:
“Carry on.” I said. I reversed the spell and they all acted as if nothing happened. “Sorry about throwing punch in your face.”
“It’s okay.” Jam forgave me. Was he really the nice guy I thought he was? I think so! “Want to dance?”
“Yes.” I agreed. He grabbed my hoof again and led me to the dance floor.
“I’ve waited so long for this moment.” He smiled.
“Me, too.” I replied. The room darkened.
“Attention fillies and colts!” The DJ said. “Grab your special somepony on the dance floor for the slow dance!” He made the music romantic, and pronounced ‘Slow’ ‘Slooooow...’
“Do you really think I have a hot flank?” I joked.
“Hehe.” He laughed nervously.
“Well?” I joked, as if I was actually asking.
“Yeah.” He answered.
“Haha-!” I giggled. I was interrupted by him kissing me.
“Woo!” Dash cheered as she drank from her glassful of punch.
“Do you mind?” Jam asked.
“She’s only kidding!” I defended.
“
The end.
Last night was the Skylight Dance. I woke up and looked around. When I looked around, my head started pounding. I wasn’t in my bed! I was on the floor! It wasn’t even my room! One memory ran through my mind; Strawberry Jam!
“I need to find Jam!” I told myself. I stood up and went outside the room, causing me to notice something; my dress had a red stain on it! “June’s gonna kill me!” I looked around, and noticed the door. It gave me another memory; me stumbling into the room.
“Hi, Speedy!” A colt said. He was the blue pony that tricked Rainbow Dash, and he was wearing a lamp cover on his head and lying on the floor.
“What are you doing?” I asked.
“I just woke up.” He answered.
“Listen,” I started. “Do you know what happened last night?”
“You don’t know?” He asked.
“No!” I replied. “I woke up in there,” I pointed to the room. “And I only remembered one thing! And I’ve only gained one since then!”
“Well...” He told me.
I ran to Rainbow Dash.
“Jam just kissed me.” I said.
“That’s huge!” Dash said as she jumped up.
“I know!” I replied. “I need some punch!” I took a glass and filled it with punch. I drank the whole thing, refilled it, drank it, filled it again and took it onto the dance floor.
“That can’t be good.” Dash worried when she saw an empty bottle of red wine next to the punch bowl.
“I got drunk?” I asked.
“Yeah.” He answered.
“How did you know that?” I asked.
“I wanted some punch, but you pushed me out of the way.” He answered.
“Sorry.” I replied. “What’s your name, anyway?”
“Point.” He answered.
“Wanna come along and help me found out what happened?” I asked.
“Sure!” He agreed. He took the lamp shade off of his head, got up and we trotted off. “Who should we look for first?”
“Strawberry Jam!” I answered.
“Why?” Point asked.
“He’s the only pony who I could remember this morning!” I explained. “He obviously knows something!”
“You do know you just came out of his room, right?” Point replied.
“No, I didn’t.” I answered. I facehoofed and we flew back.
“Open up!” I yelled as I banged on the door.
“You really want to know, don’t you?” Point asked.
“I need to know!” I yelled. “Open up!” I turned the door knob, to discover that the door wasn’t locked. “Oh...”
“It was open!”He laughed. I glared at him and we ran in.
“Strawberry Jam!” I yelled as I looked for him. “Jam! Jam!”
“What?” Jam asked. I could tell that he just woke up, because he looked tired.
“What happened last night?” I asked as I stomped my front right hoof on the floor.
“Well...” He started.
I stumbled on the dance floor with a drunken look on my face.
“I love this song!” I admitted. The music was off.
“Are you okay?” Jam asked.
“I sure am!” I answered. I fell on the floor. “Oops.”
“Okay...” Jam replied. “Wanna dance?”
“Sure!” I said. I stumbled to my feet and fell over again.
“Yay!” Derpy Hooves cheered when she saw me. “I’m not the only one who dances like that!” She fell over. “Heeheehee!”
“Need help?” Jam asked me as he reached his hoof out. I grabbed it and he pulled me up.
“Whoops!” I said. I had spilt ‘punch’ on my dress. “June’s not gonna be happy with me!” I couldn’t help but laugh.
“I spilt punch on my dress, too!” Derpy said as she stood up. Her nice, blue dress had a big red stain on it.
“Let’s get some punch!” I suggested. I dragged Jam to the punch bowl.
“Speedy!” Dash said. “I think I need to tell you something!” She pulled me over to the opposite wall by the neck of my dress.
“I can’t believe I did that!” I said as I put my hooves over my face. “It wasn’t my fault! I got drunk!”
“It’s okay.” Jam said. He put his hoof on my shoulder.
“I need to find out more!” I galloped off, with Point and Jam following me.
“Open up!” I banged on the door. I thought that it was Rainbow Dash’s room.
“Yes?” Fluttershy asked as she opened the door.
“Oh, sorry Fluttershy.” I apolagised. “Do you know where Rainbow Dash is?”
“She’s here.” Fluttershy replied. She opened the door to reveal Rainbow Dash. “We’re roommates.
“Rainbow Dash!” I yelled as I flew past Fluttershy.
“W-what?” Dash asked as she woke up.
“What happened last night?” I asked.
“What can I do you for, Dainbow Rash?” I asked in my drunken voice.
“You didn’t drink punch!” Dash said. “You drank red wine!” She showed me the bottle of wine. I took it off of her and sucked the remaining wine out of it. I licked my lips and threw the bottle over my shoulder.
“Are you insane?” She yelled. She tried to race after it.
“Whoa!” Cloud Kicker said as it smashed in front of her. She shielded her face with her front right hoof.
“Sorry!” Dash apolagised. She flew back to me.
“Care to get me some more punch?” I asked.
“No!” Dash replied. “You’ve had enough!” She grabbed the neck of my dress and pulled me to Derpy.
“Gotta find Derpy!” I said. I trotted off.
“Why?” Dash asked. Point, Jam, Fluttershy and Dash followed me.
“Derpy!” I yelled, hoping to find her. “Derpy!”
“Yes?” Derpy Hooves said as she flew in front of me.
“What happened last night?” I asked as I skidded to a stop.
“Hi, Rainbow Dash!” Derpy said when Dash dragged me to her.
“Take care of Speedy and make sure she doesn’t have any more ‘punch’!” Dash told Derpy.
“Doesn’t she have a date?” Derpy asked.
“I’ll explain it to him!” Dash assured her. She flew off to find Jam.
“What do you wanna do?” Derpy asked me.
“Let’s have some more punch!” I suggested.
“Okay!” Derpy agreed, already forgetting what Dash said. We flew to the punch bowl.
“I love punch!” I admitted right before I picked up the whole bowl and drank the whole thing, right from the bowl.
“Let’s talk to our friends!” Derpy said. We flew off.
“Hi, Derpy!” Orange Box said when we reached her, Raindrops and Sugar Grape.
“Speedy,” Derpy started to say to me. “These are my twin sisters!”
“I’m Orange Box!” Orange Box said.
“I’m Raindrops!” Raindrops greeted as she shook my hoof.
“My name’s Sugar Grape!” Sugar Grape giggled.
“And you are?” I asked Derpy as I fell over. “Oops.”
“Silly, Speedy!” Derpy giggles. “I’m Derpy!”
“It’s nice to meet you!” I said as my eyes started to cross.
“Uh, oh...” Raindrops said.
“Has she had any wine?” Box asked Derpy.
“Only punch!” Derpy answered.
“I kind of, sort of, replaced the punch with wine.” Box confessed.
“I’m sure she’ll be fine!” Derpy assured her. “Right, Speed-?” I was already gone.
“Where’s Box?” I angrily asked Derpy in the present.
“They don’t go to this school.” Derpy answered. “They were just visiting!”
“Oh!” I groaned.
“You never told me what happened to Speedy!” Jam said to Dash.
“Did I forget to tell you?” Dash asked nervously. She flew away.
“I’m...” I tried to say, before I passed out.
To be continued.
“Speedy?” Derpy asked as I woke up.
“D-Derpy?” I asked. I was in a hospital room.
“You passed out.” Derpy said.
“Why?” I asked. My head was wrapped in a bandage.
“We don’t know.” Derpy answered.
“My head hurts!” I admitted as I sat up.
“You did hit your head pretty hard.” Derpy told me.
“Where am I?” I asked.
“You’re in one of the hospital rooms at school.” Derpy answered.
“How long have I been passed out?” I asked desperately as I lied back down in my head, nearly banging it on the wall.
“About a week.” Derpy replied. “I stayed by your side this whole time!”
“Are you the only pony who was here?” I asked.
“June Bug was here,” Derpy started. “But I’m not sure where she is anymore.”
“What time is it? And what day is it?” I asked, sitting back up.
“Uh...” Derpy wondered as she looked at her watch. “I think 12:13, on Saturday.”
“I need lunch.” I admitted, clutching my stomach, as I climbed out of the hospital bed.
“I’ll come with you!” Derpy told me. We flew off to the lunch hall.
“Why is it... empty?” I asked when we reached the lunch hall that had no ponies in.
“Uh, the classes had a trip today.” Derpy admitted. “Let’s get our lunches!” We walked over to the scanner. She put her hoof on the scanner and she got a tray with four muffins on it and for her desert, a muffin with chocolate frosting on. I thought she should of just had a cupcake!
“That looks nice!” I told her. I walked over to the scanner and put my hoof on it. I got a tray with a chocolate cake, a banana, an apple and for desert, ice cream. “Yes! This is my favourite!”
“Let’s sit over there!” Derpy suggested. We flew over to a table by a window.
“Are we all alone, here?” I asked as I took a bite from my apple.
“Yes!” Derpy answered.
“We can do anything we want, then!” I said.
“Like what?” Derpy asked. She ate one of her muffins.
“I’ll tell you after lunch!” I replied as I finished my apple.
After lunch, we were in the hall way. We both had buckets with soupy water in our hoofs.
“What are we gonna do?” Derpy asked.
“Watch!” I giggled. I spilled all my soupy water all over the hall way. “Your turn!”
“Okay...” Derpy mumbled. She spilled her soupy water all over the other bits of the hall way. “Now what do we do?”
“Watch me!” I laughed. I trotted a way back, then ran as fast as I could, which was very fast, to the water. As soon as I reached it, I spiralled out of control, and I started to laugh. I crashed into a locker. “Uh, oh...”
“Yay!” Derpy laughed as she span around. She didn’t crash into anything, but she fell a few meters away from me.
“Whose locker is this?” I asked as I flew out.
“I think it’s...” Derpy wondered. “Uh...”
“You don’t know, do you?” I asked.
“No...” Derpy replied.
“Maybe the inside will shed some light.” I wondered as I opened the locker’s broken door. On the inside, it had balloons, balloon stickers and confetti taped and stuck to the inside of the door. On the inside there was a stereo with music playing and books.
“Oh, I know!” Derpy said as she jumped up and down. “It’s Surprise’s!”
“I can fix this!” I promised. I casted a spell that fixed the huge dent in the locker. “There.” I smiled and closed it.
“That was so fun!” A voice giggled.
“Derpy, what’s that?” I asked as I heard chattering.
“It’s them coming back.” Derpy answered.
“Oh, no!” I worried. “I’ll have to clean this up!” I casted a spell that slowly dried up the water.
“Hurry!” Derpy said. “They’re coming!”
‘If we get caught, my perfect record will be ruined!’ I thought. ‘I’d get detention, and no collage would want me! My life would be over!’ I started to concentrate really hard. The water suddenly dried up.
“I see that you’ve woken up!” Mrs Minus observed.
“Yes, I have.” I nervously replied.
“Good!” Mrs Minus smiled. “You should return to class next week!”
“Okay.” I agreed.
“Derpy!” Surprise exclaimed as she jumped to Derpy’s side. “You missed it! We went to a water park! There were water slides and pools everywhere!”
“Aw...” Derpy sighed.
“Who’s she?” Surprise asked as she pointed to me.
“I’m Speedy.” I replied. “I’ve actually been here about a month and a half, now.”
“I’ve never noticed you before.” Surprise admitted. “We don’t have school all day today!” She danced around.
“Bye, Derpy!” I said as I waved. I flew to find Strawberry Jam.
“Jam?” I said as I flew over the ponies who were coming out of the bus. “Jam?”
“Hi, Speedy!” A dark beige Pegasus stallion with geeky glasses greeted. He flew up to me.
“Uh, who are you?” I asked.
“You don’t remember?” He asked. “I’m Box Brain!”
“So, I’ve met you before?” I asked.
“Remember the Skylight Dance?” Brain asked.
The Skylight Dance.
I ran out of the dance room.
“Whoops!” I said as I bumped into Brain. “Sorry.”
“It’s okay.” He replied as he stood back up. “I’m Box Brain.”
“I’m Geedy Spal!” I told him, still drunk.
“Do you mean ‘Speedy Gal’?” He asked.
“That’s it!” I replied as I span my front leg in a circle.
“Are you okay?” Brain asked.
“I’ve had some punch!” I admitted, with a drunken expression on my face.
“Okay...” He replied. “Maybe you should go to bed.” He obviously knew that the punch was replaced with wine.
“But I’m not tired!” I complained.
“Okay...” He hesitated.
“How come your not in the dance with everypony else?” I asked.
“I don’t go to dances.” He answered.
“Why not?” I asked.
“I just don’t!” He replied. “If I don’t want to then-!” I trotted away.
“Uh!” I groaned. “I still can’t know what happened!” I flew away.
“Uh, bye.” He said.
The End.
Today was the auditions for the Aerobics competition; a contest that puts the fastest, the strongest and the best at sports in another competition against other schools. First was who could fly five laps around huge track first.
“On your marks...” Coach Basket started.
‘I hope I don’t come last.’ I thought.
“Get set...” Coach added.
‘What if I do come last?’ I thought.
“Go!” Coach finished. As soon as he said go, I spread out my wings and zoomed. I was on to my second lap before almost all of the ponies got half way through the first! I finished the five laps in a matter of seconds!
“Am I first?” I asked as I looked around. “I am!” After a few seconds, Rainbow Dash finished her fifth lap.
“At least I’m not last!” Dash said.
After everypony else finished the five laps, we had a new test of speed.
“Whoever runs five laps and gets back here first is the winner!” Coach told us.
‘What if I’m not good at running?’ I thought.
“On your marks, get set, go!” Coach said. When he said ‘go’, I galloped off. I started off really fast, and got faster and faster! I finished the five laps in two seconds!
“Wow!” I said. “I guess I’m a good runner!” About a minute later, Rainbow Dash finished, looking tired.
“You’re... fast!” Dash panted.
“I know!” I replied, trying not to sound like I was gloating.
The next competition was to see who was the strongest. I won that, too! I won every competition, and Dash always came a close second.
“The ponies who will compete are...” Coach read his sheet of paper, saying who will compete. “Speedy Gal,” I jumped into the air and smiled. “Rainbow Dash,” Dash cheered for herself. “Soarin’,” "Soarin’ smiled. “And Spitfire!” Spitfire had a slightly arrogant smile on her face.
Later that day, me and the others who won the competition where in a train to the next competition.
“What do you think it’ll be like there?” I asked.
“It’ll be awesome!” Dash answered as she lied down on her part of her and my bunk bed.
“Yeah!” Spitfire agreed.
“Yeah... Awesome...” I trailed off.
“What’s wrong?”Dash asked.
“I miss Jam.” I admitted, sadly.
“Who’s Jam?” Spitfire asked.
“He’s her boyfriend!” Dash answered for me, with a mocking voice.
“Rainbow Dash!” I yelled. I used my magic to levitate her.
“Put me down!” Dash yelled. “I don’t like being in the air if I’m not controlling it!”
“Then don’t mock Strawberry Jam and me!” I yelled.
“Uh, I think you should put her down.” Spitfire advised.
“Why?” I asked.
“You’ll wake up Soarin’.” Spitfire replied.
“Fine.” I reluctantly agreed. I let Dash go and she crashed on the floor.
“Hey!” Dash yelled.
“Shh! You’ll wake up Soarin’!” I loudly whispered.
“Girls!” Spitfire yelled. “I don’t like fighting!” Her fiery mane looked like it was growing.
“’I don’t like fighting’!” Dash mocked.
“Grr!” Spitfire growled. She hit Dash with her tail, burning her light blue coat.
“Ow!” Dash screamed. “Your mane and tail are actually fire!”
“You can’t burn me!” I said. I used my magic to put a force field around myself. I stuck my tongue out at her.
“I’ll get you sooner or later!” Spitfire yelled. Her mane returned to normal and she walked to her bed.
“You’re lucky you’re an alicorn!” Dash admitted.
“I know!” I replied. I put a force field around Spitfire and got rid of the one around me. “Ha!” I stuck my tongue out.
“Let me out!” Spitfire yelled as she banged on the edge of her force field.
“Will you burn me?” I asked.
“No!” Spitfire promised. I let her out.
“I wish my friends were here.” I said.
“I’m not your friend?” Dash asked.
“You are,” I started. “I just meant, my best, best friends!”
“Like who?” Dash asked.
“Like Derpy, Mistletoe, June.” I said in example.
“What about me?” Spitfire asked.
“I only met you today!” I reasoned.
“So?” Spitfire asked.
“Ugh...” I groaned.
We knew we got there when the door opened. We all walked out.
The first competition was the running race, and I of course was chosen to run it.
“On your marks, get set, go!” A purple female pegasus with a whistle cutie mark said. I sped off, and quickly took the lead, but a few seconds in, a male green pegasus caught up to me.
“Oh, no you don’t!” I said to him. I ran even faster, but so did he.
“Not so fast, alicorn!” He yelled. That sentence brought back memories.
“Hahaha!” A black filly earth pony laughed at me. I was the same age as her.
“Alicorn!” A purple unicorn colt mocked. I started to cry, as I couldn't believe they made fun of me because I was an alicorn instead of the fact that I was a blank flank at the time. Of course, I couldn't cast magic at the time, though.
“Argh!” I growled. I ran as fast as I could. Dust was left behind me. I ran so fast that I ran five extra laps. I finished my 25, and extra five, laps before anypony else finished their first! I skidded to a stop. Everypony watching were slack jawed! Even I was surprised at myself, but I acted as if I knew I could do that.
“And the winner is, Speedy Gal!” The pegasus with the whistle cutie said. She put a gold medal around my neck.
As the time of the competition past, I won seven gold medals; Spitfire won two gold and five silver; Soarin’ won one gold and six silver and Dash won four gold and three silver.
“I think we did well!” Soarin’ said before they announced the winning school.
“We won fourteen gold medals!” Dash replied.
“They’re going to announce soon!” Spitfire said. We flew to where they were announcing the winning school.
“And the winner is...” The purple pegasus started. Everypony who was competing looked hopefully at her. “Flight Academy!”
“Yes!” I cheered as I leaped into the air. I high hoofed Dash. The four of us flew over to her and she gave Spitfire a trophy.
“We won!” She cheered as she raised it in the air.
“We won!” I chanted, over and over again.
“I can’t wait to tell the school!” Dash admitted.
“Me neither.” Spitfire trailed off as she walked towards me. Her mane grew again.
“Spitfire!” I started. “Don’t burn me!” I flew up to the top of the train cart, but she followed me. She hit me with her tail, but it didn’t hurt! “Was that supposed to burn me?”
“Yes!” Spitfire yelled angrily. She flew back to the floor.
“You’re unburnable!” Dash said as I flew back to the floor, giggling.
“Maybe we should get some sleep.” I suggested. I couldn’t be bothered to say that ‘Unburnable’ wasn’t a word.
When we got back to school, I ran to find Jam.
“Jam?” I yelled. “Jam?” I looked around, but couldn’t find him.
“Speedy?” Derpy asked.
“Hi, Derpy!” I greeted. “Do you know where Jam is?”
“Uh...” Derpy started. “He doesn’t go to this school anymore.”
“What?” I said in shock.
To be continued.
(Before you read, I'd just like to thank LightPony for proof reading this and telling me where to improve.)
Derpy’s P.O.V:
“Speedy Gal?” I asked as Speedy Gal finally opened her eyes. She stared at me blankly.
“Speedy Gal! Thank Celestia you’re awake!” I said.
“What?” She asked, with a puzzled look on her face.
“When I told you that Strawberry Jam didn’t go to this school anymore…” I explained. “You passed out again, in shock, and hit your head!”
“Wh-wh-?” She stuttered. “Who’s Strawberry Jam?”
“He’s your coltfriend!” I giggled. “How could you forget?”
“Really?” Speedy questioned.
“Yeah!” I smiled.
“Okay...” Speedy trailed off. “Who are you?”
I gasped.
“What?” I yelled. “You don’t remember me?” I leaned towards her as she leaned further in the hospital bed, almost touching the wall. “I’m Derpy Hooves, one of your best friends!”
“Okay...” Speedy trailed off again, avoiding my gaze. “What’s with your eye?”
I gasped even harder.
“You don’t remember my eye, either?” I yelled. “What do you remember?”
“Uh...” She wondered. “Nothing… other than what you told me.”
“Uh-oh.” I said.
“I’m gonna go.” Speedy told me. She got out of bed and walked out.
“Wait!” I yelled. I flew after her.
“What?” She snapped.
“Y-y-you...” I stuttered.
“What?” She yelled. I saw an angry look in her eyes.
“You don’t have a cutie mark!” I yelled. I looked at her flank: it was blank! She was a blank flank!
“So?” She asked.
“What do you mean ‘so?-?” I asked. I was suddenly interrupted by Speedy’s dorm mate, as June Bug flew to us and jumped on Speedy Gal.
“Speedy Gal!” June exclaimed. “You’re awake! I was so worried when I found out what happened! You were in a coma! What’s it like being in a coma?” She went on and on with questions and sentences like that.
“Get off of me!” Speedy yelled, pushing June Bug off her, making her fall into the floor.
“What?” June asked.
“Uh, June?” I whispered. “She can’t remember anything, and she’s totally different.”
“Really?” June whispered back. I nodded. June’s eyes darted forward between Speedy and me. She eventually flew out.
“That was your dorm mate!” I said, stomping my hoof next to Speedy Gal, who was now getting up.
“So?” Speedy asked. She didn’t even wait for me to answer as she just flew off. I glared at her. Something’s gotten into that mare.
Speedy Gal’s P.O.V:
I sped away from that loser with the bad eye. I started flying faster… and faster… and even faster.
“Hey! No flying that fast in the hallway!” A teacher yelled. I didn’t slow down or stop; I just rolled my eyes and continued flying.
The teacher started following me. “Get back here!” I started flying even faster, but so did he. I flew even faster… until I crashed into a wall.
“Detention!” The teacher told me as he pulled me off of the wall.
He dragged me to a room with other five ponies in.
“Sit down!” He told me. I rolled my eyes and sat down in an empty desk. The teacher walked to the front.
How do ponies get detention for flying fast? I thought.
“Looks like most of you got here early today.” The teacher said. “I just wish some of you weren’t here every day!”
Every day? I thought. I’m way to cool for these losers!
“Now, as most of you know…” He said, glaring at me. “For the next two hours, you will remain in here. No talking, no leaving, no getting up!” He sat down behind his desk.
I can get us out of this! I thought. I casted a spell on the teacher that made him fall straight asleep. I enjoyed the thud his head made against his desk.
“What?” One of the male pegasi in detention said.
“I casted a spell that made him fall asleep!” I answered as I got up from my seat. “He’s basically out for another five hours!” I said as I strode out the door.
“Hey!” One of the pegasi called after me.
“What?” I asked him. As soon as I turned my head to look at him, I realized his cutie mark was a bottle of wine! He also had a fiery red mane and tail, a black coat and blue eyes.
“You’re Speedy Gal, right?” He asked me.
“Who wants’ to know?” I asked, trying to look and sound cool.
“Me.” He laughed.
“And you are?” I asked him.
“Uh, I’m Plum Juice!” He told me.
“’Plum Juice’?” I asked, holding in laughter.
“Yeah, my parents named me after my grandfather because my mane is similar to his.” He explained.
“Oh...” I replied.
“I’ve heard that you were a goody-goody!” He laughed.
“Ponies can change.” I told him. We were by the lockers now. I saw a Air Heart trying to open her locker, so I used my magic to swing it open in her face. I laughed.
To Be Continued.
Mistletoe’s P.O.V:
“Okay, what was the plan again?” My green dormmate asked as we hid under Speedy’s bed.
“Fine, I’ll tell you one more time.” I told June, making sure to keep my voice down. “We hide under Speedy’s bed, wait for her to come back, force her to the floor and get her to remember who she is.” I explained, blowing my long, red mane out of my green eyes.
“So... what should I do with her diary?”
I stared at the purple, leather book with the heart lock in June’s hooves, wondering how she got it. My eyes darted back and forth from the diary and the green pegasus that I’ve known for years. Back and forth... back and forth... back and forth... back and forth... until I snatched the book from June’s hooves. I frantically looked around for the key, banging my head on the bed multiple times. One thought kept repeating itself: Where’s the key? WHERE’S THE KEY? I saw a yellow suitcase that Speedy probably hadn’t unpacked yet. I attempted to pry it open, failing however. I whacked my head on it in my failed attempts. I decided to try one more time, prying it open with all my might. It suddenly opened.
“When’s Speedy coming?” June’s voice rocketed in my ears.
“SHH!” I yelled. I turned, turning to her, then I turned back around to look at the suitcase. Inside there was a small box and a note that read: If you are not me, Speedy Gal, you will pay for this! I shrugged and took the box out. It was red and was bordered with gold. I wondered if it was real gold. I opened it with ease, as I expected it to be locked like the suitcase. Inside the box was a silver key, embroidered with patterns; swirls, diamonds, circles, the list goes on and on! I didn’t want to waste any time admiring the key. I grabbed it and unlocked the leather diary. I was filled with anticipation as I turned the key. CLICK! My huge smile almost swallowed my entire face. I flipped the cover of the diary, revealing bright yellow paper.
“Are you really gonna read her diar-?” June was the only thing that would stop me from reading the leather bound retelling of my alicorn Dormmate’s life.
“SHUT UP!” I screamed at the top of my voice. After skipping ahead a few pages, I found the page where she talks about her first day at Flight Academy.
7th January 2000
Dear diary,
Today was my first day at Flight academy. I met my new dorm mates, June Bug and Mistletoe. June Bug was a little over excitable, and Mistletoe was a little mean rough around the edges.
“Hey!” I cried out, throwing the purple book out from under the bed. Just then, the door opened. CREAK! I heard hoofsteps.
“Is this my room?”
“Speedy!” I rolled from under the bed, pulling June with me. “You’re home!”
“Is this my room?” She sounded irritated.
“Yes.” I told her. My eyes started to focus on the purple diary. Eventually, I pounced, grabbing it. “Read this!” I opened the book to a random page and forced it in front of her eyes. She started levitating it in front of her and started reading.
Speedy’s P.O.V:
My, I’m guessing, dorm mate, forced a purple book with yellow paper to my face. I rolled my eyes and started reading.
12th December 1990
Dear Diary,
Today, I got a diary, well, this diary! Nothing much happened today, though. I guess I’ll write tomorrow.
Sincerely, Speedy Gal!
I was intrigued. This is my diary? I can’t possibly be that lame! I turned another page.
15th March 1996
Dear Diary,
Today, somepony cut a chunk of my hair off during try outs for the running team. I freaked out and tripped over! I didn’t get on the team.
Sincerely, Speedy Gal!
I wouldn’t freak out! How lame am I? I turned another page.
7th February 2000
Dear Diary,
Today, I’m gonna meat my secret admirer, Strawberry Jam! I hope he actually likes me, and isn’t just playing a prank on me. Oh, and the Skylight Dance is today! That’s all for now!
Sincerely, Speedy Gal.
Suddenly, memories flashed before my eyes; When I met Strawberry Jam, when I came to this school, when I realised how fast I was, when I met June and Mistle. I remembered everything.
“I know who I am.” I admitted, dropping the purple book.
“Yes!” June exclaimed, jumping up and down. I thought that was pointless because she was a pegasus!
“And who I am...” I started. “Is a dork!”
“What?” Mistle gaped, her mouth open so wide it was practically touching the floor.
To be continued.
Speedy’s P.O.V:
My roommates stared slack-jawed at me, silent, as if they were unable to speak.
“What?” I finally broke the silence.
“You’re not a dork!” June Bug yelled. I could see tears falling from her big, brown eyes.
“Yes I am!” I disagreed, shaking my head. “I’m a nerd, I didn’t have my cutie mark ‘till about a month ago, I lost it,” I pointed at my blank flank. “And I always end up PASSING OUT!”
I ran out, flapping my wings in attempt to run faster. But I already knew that was no use, since I was already the fastest pony aliv-!
“Get her!” A voice yelled. Before I could see who it was, a pony jumped on my back, making me fall onto the floor.
“Get off of me!” I protested, trying to get back up to my hooves, but it was no use. The pony on top of me must have been big!
“You can get off of her now, Rainbow.” The pony who spoke before told. The pony got off of me, and I quickly leapt to my hooves, an angry expression on my face. I already knew there was Rainbow Dash, but aside from her, there were two other mares, but I couldn’t recognise them.
“You’re on thin ice!” Rainbow scowled at me, yanking my mane with her front hoof.
“Get offa me!” I pushed her off of me, nearly pushing her blue self to the ground.
“QUIET!” The pony who spoke before yelled, hopefully, at the top of her voice. She had a white coat, an orange, spiky mane and tail with yellow tips, a yellow lightning bolt cutie mark and yellow eyes. The other pony was bright red, had blue eyes, a yellow mane and tail and a yellow sun for a cutie ma- YELLOW SUN?
“Y-y-your c-c-cutie ma-mark is th-the sun!” I manage to get out as I leapt to my haunches in front of the red pegasus.
“Yeah!” She said proudly. Her voice sounded strong and tough, unlike the white pegasus’, who sounded mad and kind of high pitched. “I helped Princess Celestia raise the sun, thus getting me my cutie mark!” She motioned to her flank. I couldn’t help but grin and giggle like a two month old foal.
“If you two hens are finished clucking,” The white pegasus yanked me back to my hooves by my tail with her mouth. “We neeth tho thell youth thomething.”
“What?” I asked, pulling my tail out of her mouth.
“You’ve been chosen for the international school exchange.” She calmly told me.
“The what?” I asked. I wish I had a clue what it was, but I didn’t. I wished I was like my old self; always knowing everything, but I wasn’t. I wasn’t like her at all. And I would never be like her ever again.
“Ponies who do exceptionally well in a particular subject,” She started, closing her big, yellow eyes. “Like sports,” She pointed to Dash. “Astrology,” She pointed to the red pony, who smiled and looked smugly at me. “Or cloud control,” She pointed to herself and smiled as if she just won an award for best student or something. “, get transferred to another school, and that school transfers a student here.”
“So, what you’re saying is...” I started. “I’m leaving this buck-hole?” I stomped my hoof on the ground and grinned.
“I guess...” The lightning pegasus answered. It took me a while to find the appropriate way to express my joy, but in the end I decided what I should do.
“Wahoo!” I cried ecstatically. I jumped up and down in circles around the three ponies. But there was still one thing that I didn’t understand. “Why did you have to tackle me?”
“We’re leaving right now.” The red-sun pegasus explained. The three ponies grabbed hold of my front hooves and flew out, dragging me out with them.
Outside was a white carriage with two formal looking male pegasi. They both wore white suits with gold bars attaching them to the carriage. I guessed they were gonna pull us there.
“Shouldn’t I get my stuff?” I asked, not taking my eyes off the big carriage.
“They’ll send our luggage.” The red mare told me. “I’m Tough Red, by the way.”
“I’m Lightflash!” The white mare told me. The three mares pushed me into the carriage. Inside the carriage was red and velvety. There were bench like seats on the sides. I sat down on one. It was really soft. In fact, it was so soft that I couldn’t help but smile a bit.
“The school paid for the carriage!” Dash smiled as she put her hoof around my neck.
“The school must be rich!” I admitted. I clapped my hooves together and grinned in excitement.
To be continued.
