For the longest time, Twilight has harbored a secret love for Pinkie Pie. She didn't have the heart to tell the mare her feelings; how could she? Pinkie is just so dynamic and full of energy and Twilight is just... well, at the time she was a unicorn that barely understood friendship; much less love. Becoming an alicorn hasn't helped much since then, so how could she bring it up?

Twilight eventually grew so close to speaking her mind, only to find herself preempted by another - and it broke the young alicorn's heart. She tried to be satisfied that the pony she loved was with a pony that loved her. That hollow satisfaction, unfortunately, can only hold out for so long. Now Twilight is sick of pretending to be happy. This certainly can only end well.
