The truth often entails far more than we realize.

It seems Celestia has been hiding something for a very long time. As her Faithful Student, Twilight feels it her duty to investigate, but the tapestry she unravels is more complicated than she realizes, and sometimes the past does not want to be part of the present.

Long(er) Description:
In the past, a strange pony by the name of Shining Smiles has taken a shine to Celestia, and while there is no denying that the two make one another happy, there is also no denying that there can be no simple destination for their relationship to go to.

In the present, Twilight has uncovered a mystery involving Celestia and ancient forces forgotten in time. With few leads and growing desperation, she soon finds herself looking to Chaos magic and Discord himself for answers.

Presented along two timelines, going back and forth between Celestia many, many years ago and Twilight during the "current" time. Scenes will be in chronological order within their timelines, with a few exceptions.

This is a work in progress, and is my first fanfic ever, so I do hope you'll be forgiving for the occasional edit or whatnot.
Also, constructive criticism would be much appreciated.
