When magic of the three tribes was sealed into the Unity Crystals, and Equestria split apart, there was no place for a creature that fed on the love of others. There simply was not enough to go around—not even for one young changeling queen. Had things been different, and the upheaval had not inspired acts of racial violence and terrorism, she might even have rejected her adoptive mother's offer. The young queen took the opportunity, however, and entered a magical slumber, sealed away with the splitting of the Unity Crystals.

"Watch over the future generation, and help build a world where your future children can live with them in harmony."

Untold ages passed before the crystals would once again be united. Landscapes and borders changed. Settlements rose and fell. Countless races were forgotten by the three tribes. None else mattered in comparison to those who were to blame for the loss of magic and harmony. With the reunion of the tribes, Anonymous Flicker rose from her slumber. Nobody was prepared for the shenanigans to come next.

Although the Vlogs of an Ancient Insect are set as their own canon, it may at time make references to events or characters present in the Diaries of an Anonymous Filly. Consider this as warning that this side-story can and will contain a major spoiler for the 32-39 arc of Diaries by way of Anon becoming a bug queen, although the how is left vague. Events following that arc and everything up to the planned epilogue of the story will not be referenced, however. Reading said story is not mandatory, but highly recommended.

This story's central character, Anonymous Flicker, began as a spin on the Anon Filly, but slowly began evolving into a character all of its own as the story progressed through its infancy. It is for that reason that this story has not been tagged as Anon—so as to not expect shitposting/Anon shenanigans. Oh, there will certainly be shenanigans, though.

Although I have plenty of individual pieces and stories related to her stay in Maretime Bay for Ms. Flicker to relate to her audience (hence the Human tag), this story is still presented with the 'get to know me and my species' vlog/ask blog as a framing device. As such, there may be times I'll dip into the comments for questions from 'viewers' to pick out questions that might be helpful to frame a future story to tell. Depending on the question, interesting results might be had—a question regarding her first day in Maretime Bay, for example would definitely help lead into the cause of her needing to make her blog as mentioned into the prologue.
