Twilight awoke to the sound of a heart Monitor. She slowly opened her eyes, it took a minute for them to adjust to the light of the hospital room.
"W-where am I?" Twilight managed to say quietly. Twilight was exhausted and she couldn't move. It hurt too much to move. It hurt to speak.
"You're in the hospital dear," the white unicorn known as Rarity spoke calmly, "you took a great beating out doing Celestia knows what."
Twilight was confused. She tried to lift her head to look around the room, but she lurched back as she felt the pain to move her muscles too great. "W-what happened?" Twilight was having a hard time speaking.
Nurse Redheart came into the room. "Your awake, good to see that you woke up so soon. You're probable wondering why you are in the hospital. Your friends, AppleJack and Pinkie Pie, rushed you and Rainbow Dash over here as fast as possible. You were both in a critical condition." Nurse redheart explained.
Twilight looked to her left and saw pinkie lying in the bed on the other side of the room. Nurse Redheart spoke again "If you're wondering why pinkie is unconscious and here too, it's because she herself was in a terrible condition very similar to yours, but worse. After we took you and Rainbow, Pinkie collapsed on the ground and hasn't woken up yet. How that pony managed to stay awake long enough to get you here is a complete mystery. "
Twilight started to remember what happened. She tried to speak but the words wouldn't come. Despite the pain medicines that were in her body she still felt a great amount of pain. She had never been in a worse situation. Her strong magic naturally made major injuries into something more minor and she could always deal with it, but this was too much. Her head was throbbing and every muscle she tried to move ended up with an excruciating pain. The last thing she heard before she lost consciousness was "Without you-" cutting off who ever was talking.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~THE NEXT DAY
Twilight woke up. This time it was much easier. She managed to open her eyes and lift her head a little bit. She saw Rarity sitting next to her and Fluttershy next to Pinkie. She wondered where Applejack was. Twilight was able to move her muscles with a lot less pain now. She could also talk much better. "Hey, where is Applejack?" Twilight asked softly.
Rarity quickly stood up and replied "We don't know dear. We haven't seen her since she brought in Rainbow a few days ago. I haven't left the hospital since I got here, so I have to assume she is at the farm doing her own thing."
"How is Pinkie doing?" Twilight asked quietly.
"She hasn't woken up yet. I'm starting to get worried. Nurse Redheart says she will be fine but I'm still worried that she wont come out of it and be the same old Pinkie Pie that we know and love." Rarity replied with a frown on her face.
Then Nurse Redheart walked into the room "Ah your awake. Good. I think you'll be happy to know that you haven't sustained any terrible permanent damage. Maybe a few scars at most. However you did manage to break a couple bones and cut your self up pretty bad. Anyway if all goes well we should have you out of the hospital by the end of the week at best." Then she walked over to Pinkie and frowned. "As for your friend here, she sustained a little more damage. She has a mild concussion, broke several bones, and sustained minor internal bleeding as well as many, many large cuts. She lost a lot of blood and how she managed to carry you all the way here is nothing short of amazing. She managed to get you here and then she almost immediately passed out in the lobby. "
Then Rarity spoke up, "Excuse me Nurse but would you happen to know anything about Rainbow? Is she going to be ok?"
Nurse Redheart hesitated at first, but then she spoke, "Follow me Miss..?"
"Rarity."
"Yes, please follow me Miss Rarity."
Rarity and Nurse Redheart walked out the door and continued to talk. Nurse Redheart spoke first. "Your friend Rainbow Dash is insanely lucky to be alive. She has suffered major internal bleeding, some of her organs have shut down, she has broken very many bones, and she has huge cuts some as deep as two inches.Your friend is in a critical condition and we can't tell if she will be able to pull through. I promise you will be the first pony to know when her condition changes. She may never be able to fly again if she gets through this alive. I didn't tell your friend because of the mental state she is in. I have to leave it to you to talk to her. Please wait an hour or two.
Rarity felt tears form in her eyes as she took in what the Nurse was saying. She couldn't believe what she was being told. Fighting back tears she said to the nurse, "Okay. I understand thank you for all your help." She had to stay strong. The two ponies parted their ways and Rarity walked back into the room where Pinkie and Twilight were being kept in.
Twilight was worried. She needed to know how dash was doing. "Rarity, is Rainbow alright?" Twilight spoke with concern in her voice.
She hesitated at first. Rarity told Twilight exactly what the nurse had told her. Twilight was shocked, stunned. She didn't even try to fight back the tears as they overwhelmed her and she let them flow freely down her cheeks.
"Now now dear, I'm sure Rainbow will come out of this alive, she is one of the toughest ponies I know and if anybody could survive whatever happened it would be her." Rarity spoke trying to console Twilight.
Twilight didn't respond but kept crying. Twilight was worried about Rainbow. She had only been able to enjoy her love for a few weeks. It would be heart breaking if she could never she Dash again. And poor Applejack. She is probably blaming herself for this entire accident. I can't imagine what it would be like for her if Dash died. Losing a close family member and friend in a matter of months must be unbearable.
Rarity spoke again "Its okay dear, she will make it out alive. Now do you remember anything that happened when you three injured yourselves so badly?"
Twilight nods, slowly.
"Well dear? Can I hear it?"
Twilight managed to stop sobbing long enough to talk. "Well.. I don't really know what happened... I was just on my way to help out Applejack and Pinkie said a ton of things I can't remember so I followed her.. then I saw a blur of blue and a rainbow colored trail behind the blur. I-I don't remember what happened after that." It was hard for her to speak. Fighting back tears and her mind bursting with thought. She felt exhausted. Twilight spoke once more "Rarity.. I need to get some rest."
"Well of course dear, I'll be in the waiting area and I promise I'll be here for you when you wake up." Rarity replied and left the room.
Twilight couldn't sleep. Her mind was racing with thought. She wondered why she didn't use a spell to at least try and slow Rainbow's decent. The thought cursed her. 'It was my fault. I could have stopped her. I could have at least tried to stop her. But I didn't. Why? Why didn't I stop her? Why am I here? Why is Pinkie here? What was Dash trying to do? Will she be ok? How will I go on if she isn't? How will Applejack handle it?' She needed rest. She needed to heal and be there for Dash when she woke up. She was not going to let Dash be alone. She will stand beside Dash until she gets better. She will not move from her side no matter the situation. And with those final thoughts, she fell asleep.
I am terribly sorry for the huge wait. One thing led to another and another and I kept getting distracted and what not. I am also incredibly sorry for the short chapter. I just kinda got stuck about halfway through and I couldn't think what to write next. I promise I will have the next one sooner and a little longer.
Authors note: You will probably see twilight acting out of character in these next couple of chapters. Dont complain about it in the comments because im not going to do anything about it.
One week later.
Twilight had been allowed to leave the hospital earlier than she assumed, but she didn't leave after she was released. Pinkie had finally awoke from her deep sleep, and by that time Twilight was allowed to leave her room. They just kept her in the hospital to make sure there were no complications with her injuries. Sadly, Pinkie had experienced a lot more damage to her brain than the doctors had thought, she wasn't the cheerful, completely random pink mare that she used to be. And surprisingly enough, the brain damage actually brought out her intelligent side, which was completely impossible. But she was Pinkie, and Pinkie is the weirdest pony around.
Now she sat in front of her marefriend's room and hoped. She could only hope that rainbow hadn't sustained a lot of permanent damage. But the way that Pinkie had taken so much damage, and she had the been the farthest one away from the blast, Dash probably sustained horrible damage to her body and mind.
That was when her thoughts were cut off by the voice of Nurse Redheart. "She's awake, but she is under the influence of many painkilling drugs, so don't be surprised if she isn't acting like herself." Nurse Redheart stepped aside the door as Twilight rushed into the room.
Twilight was in the room in ten seconds flat (Please dont kill me for that!) and next to Rainbow Dash. "Rainbow!" She said as she threw herself into rainbow, hugging her.
"Can't.....Breathe....." Rainbow weakly said.
Twilight backed off her marefriend quickly, blushed, and replied, "Hehe.. Sorry Rainbow. I'm so glad you're okay!"
"Yeah.... me too...." She could barely talk, Twilight guessed because it pained her to move her jaw.
Just then, when Twilight couldn't think of anything to say, Pinkie walked in. Her normally poofy mane was.... wait..... it looks like Rarity's...... Then Pinkie talked, she sounded.... different, not as cheerful, but happy, "Rainbow! You're awake!"
When Rainbow heard that voice and she saw Pinkie, she nearly chocked. She replied, with no problem, "Pinkie! What happened to you!"
Pinkie replied, "Well, you see-"
Twilight cut off Pinkie, "Pinkie, I'll explain it to her later."
Just then, Nurse Redheart walked back in to give rainbow some bad news...
She started to speak "Rainbow Dash, I have a full report on your injuries. Would you like to hear them now, or should I wait until you feel better?"
By now Rainbow was talking mostly like she was before the incident. She hesitated for a moment but eventually said, "I... I think I can handle it."
"Alright. Good news is, you haven't sustained much brain damage, however we do suspect you wont be able to remember anything longer than four years ago." She stopped for a second, allowing Rainbow to take in the information, then she started again. "Whatever you did also broke sixteen bones, half of which have somehow healed by now. It is a miracle that you are alive, but..." She stopped.
"But what doc?" Rainbow replied nervously.
"You may never be able to fly again..."
Rainbows eyes widened in complete and utter shock. Her jaw was as open as it had ever been, it really hurt her, but she didn't care. She hardly felt the pain. It seemed like an eternity while she was like that, but she eventually regained her composure and replied "S-so I'll n-never fly again?"
"Most likely not, but if somehow another miracle happens and you are able to fly for whatever reason, you will not be a very strong flier, at all. " Redheart stated.
All of them went silent and then Redheart lef the room to let the three be alone. Rainbow tried to move her wings, but when she did she felt a horrible pain too severe for her to handle. Then she broke into tears, holding nothing back.
Twilight immediately tried to console Rainbow, "Now, now. It will be fine, I'm here for you."
Several minutes passed before Rainbow calmed down. "T-thanks Twi. I don't think I could l-live without you. Living without wings will be hard *sniffle* but as long as I'm with you, everything will be fine."
Twilight leaned closer to Rainbow, and closer, until their lips met. This kiss was not like any other they had shared, it was filled with far more passion and love than either had ever felt toward each other. They kissed for what seemed like eternity, which is how long both of them wanted it to last, but it ended when the door opened and Rarity walked in.
Rarity was shocked at the sight she saw. The tray of food she had been levitating in for Rainbow dropped as her jaw fell open and she lost all control of her magic. The tray came falling to the ground with a Thud. Then she said something, "Oh my! I'm terribly sorry to interrupt such a magical moment!"
The moment they noticed Rarity had entered the room, which was when the tray hit the floor, the two broke the kiss and blushed furiously. The weird thing was that Pinkie Pie had been silent through the entire thing, if she was still the old Pinkie, she would probably be planning out a party and yelling absolutely irrelevant facts about cupcakes and such. Rarity once again spoke, breaking the silence between the group, "Well, how long have you two been at it?"
Twilight replied to her, noticing Rainbow would probably be unable to, " Well, not counting the time we have both been injured, two weeks, counting the time we have been injured, four weeks. Oh and I have a question. Where is Applejack? She hasn't been here once to check on us since she helped Pinkie get us here."
Rarity hesitated at first, for an unknown reason, but continued. "She is still at the farm, she clearly has some free time on her hand but she doesn't want to come here. We can't find out why and we can't change her mind, I'm afraid."
What Rarity said made sense to Twilight and pissed her off quite a bit. Why wouldn't she want to see her friends in a time such as this? Wouldn't she want to know they were okay? Wouldn't she want to see us? She saw the condition Rainbow was in, why wasn't she here? Twilight finally spoke up, "I'll go talk to her, Pinkie will you and Rarity stay here with Rainbow and make sure she is fine?"
Pinkie finally talked, "Sure thing Twilight, you can count on us!"
Rarity simply responded, "Indeed."
It was about four, right after school got out, and Scootaloo was on her way to the hospital to visit her idol, Rainbow Dash. She had heard what had happened and had to see for her self if it was true or not. She didn't believe that Dash was hurt, she had seen her do some insanely stupid things, like that one time when she crashed into the water tower, which for some reason, was in the middle of nowhere, and it landed on her. She didn't even know it was possible to get crushed by two tons of water and not get... well, crushed.
She was about halfway there when she was brought out of her thoughts by the voice of one of her friends, "Hey Scootaloo, where you heading?" The cheerful voice asked.
"Oh, hey Sweetie, I'm on my way to the hospital, cause you know, Rainbow Dash."
"Oh, is that who my sister has been talking about? She told me one of her friends was really hurt and she wouldn't say more than that."
"I don't know yet, that's what I'm going to find out. Wanna come with me?"
"Sure, I don't have anything better to do." And with that, the two friends set off.
***
It was 4:20 in the afternoon when Rainbow heard the door to her room opening, curious she forced herself into a sitting position and waited to see the visitor, or nurse, or doctor. What she saw totally shocked her, it was Scootaloo.
When Scootaloo entered, she just stood there for a minute, then her friend walked in and said, "Hey, why is it so quie- oh... I'll be in the lobby if you need me."
Scootaloo was the one to break the silence, "R-rainbow Dash w-what happened?"
Rainbow managed to cover her feelings near perfectly, "Truth is, I only remember half of what happened."
"Well I don't know what you could have done that managed to get you hurt THIS bad," Scootaloo pointed with a hoof at all the bandages she was wrapped in, "but it wont be long before you're back in tip top shape and soaring through the skies again!"
Upon hearing this Dash fell completely silent and looked down at her bed. In a confused tone, Scootaloo continued, "Right?"
Dash didn't bother to try and hide her emotions, "W-well you see I did so much damage to my wings that..." She stopped.
"That what?" Scoots asked.
"I might not ever fly... again."
***
Scootaloo was shocked at what she heard a few hours ago. They had multiple conversations but there was something that Rainbow had caught during one of the specific conversations they had.
Rainbow asked Scootaloo, "Hey kid, don't you have to go home, won't your parents get worried?"
When Scootaloo had processed the words she was just asked, her head dropped low, and she muttered under her breath "Not any more."
Rainbow Dash cought this and continued, "What was that? I heard you say something..."
"Oh it's nothing." Scoots lied. Unfortunate for her, she was bad at lying, her left eye twitched whenever she lied.
"Scoots, you're really bad at lying, whats up?"
"Well, remember my super awesome parents I always tell you about?"
Dash interrupted Scootaloo, "Let me guess, they aren't really that awesome, or cool what so ever?"
"Oh no, no, it's nothing like that. My parents were really awesome... but..." Scoots paused there, as if waiting for Dash to try and coax out more information.
"But what?" Rainbow asked.
"I-I never met my parents..."
Rainbow was slow, probably due to her head injuries, but who knows. "I don't follow."
"Well... both of my parents were Wonderbolts, as you know. My parents were Cloud Dasher and Neon Light, My father, Cloud Dasher, died in a tragic accident three months after my mother became pregnant. And my mother died upon giving birth to me... I lived in an orphanage all my life, until four days ago, when the orphanage had to be closed down and all the kids there had to be transferred to a different orphanage... I didn't want to leave so I ran away... I've been managing, living with Applebloom and her family, for now, that is." She stopped then.
It was a couple of minutes before Dash could respond, but eventually words came back to her and she replied, "Wow. I never knew... I'm so sorry Scootaloo," This was one of the rare occasions she would call Scootaloo, Scootaloo. She continued,"wait, wait, why am I hearing about this now? Why didn't you tell me sooner kid?"
"Well I thought that it would be un cool talking to you about my life, so I never really tried. Oh and whenever I am with you, I tend to forget about all my problems and enjoy the few moments I get to be with you."
"Scootaloo, I don't know when, but sometime soon you and I are going to have a very long talk about this."
"Thats what I thought you would say, well I guess I didn't think you would say that, but looking forward to it!"
"You remind me of me when I was your age heh."
"I don't know if that is a complement, or an insult so I'm just going to guess and say both"
Rainbow chuckled a bit, "It was an insult, Scoots."
Scootaloo only grinned and replied, "I wouldn't want it any other way then."
***
It had been a couple of hours since Scootaloo left, and Dash tried to get some sleep, but she couldn't. She kept thinking about Scootaloo and her parents. She was surprised they were both wonderbolts, but that thought slipped past her when she heard Scoots had grown up in an orphanage. She wanted Scoots to have a better life than she did. You could say that Rainbow had it a little better than Scootaloo, she got to know her mom, atleast. Her dad died in a tragic accident at the cloudsdale weather factory. And that was all she knew. Her mom died when Rainbow was six years old, of disease. She lived in an orphanage until she was sixteen, when she got a job as Lead weather pony for Ponyville.
Her thoughts were interrupted by Nurse Redheart's voice, "Miss Dash, I have some good news, considering the condition you are in. Would you like to hear it now, or later?"
Rainbow thought for a moment, she needed to hear some good knews so..."What's the news?"
"Well, your wings haven't been damaged to the point where they would be removed, so we can perform surgery and bring your wings back to less than half of their original power, bad news is that you will never fly like you use to, no more dangerous tricks either. And we managed to figure out why you survived the fall, it seems your friend, Twilight Sparkle, concentrated almost all of her magic on your body with a levitation spell, but since you were going so fast you were impossible to stop. She managed to slow you down to the point where you would survive the fall, and that was the reason she collapsed at the scene."
'Oh great, another thirty or forty things to think about, just what I need.' Rainbow thought, then replied, "What are the dangers of the surgery?"
"Considering you choose to go into surgery, if one of our surgeons screws up on the tiniest of things, you could lose your wings for good. If you don't go into surgery you may be able to use your wings again, but probably not to fly."
Rainbow had to consider her options, 'Okay, if I go into surgery and somepony screws up, I lose my wings for good. If I don't go into surgery there is a near 100% chance I'll never fly again...' She thought for several minutes comparing the pro's and con's of each of her options. She finally made a choice, "I-I'll do it."
Hey, I just realized something. I can't do anything that involves Applejack and speaking together. So I need somebody to send me a PM that can take any normal sentence and turn it into what Applejack would say, so this is gonna be another rainbow chapter.
***
Rainbow awoke at around noon the day after the surgery in an attempt to save her wings. She opened her eyes just a little, only to have to shut them because of the Suns bright rays. Rainbow slowly opened her eyes, allowing them to adjust to the light, and then sit up. She tried to move her wings, but she couldn't feel them. She decided that they were just numb. She also felt a burning pain where her wings would be, right where the bones connect. Then a green earth pony in a nurse outfit walked into the room and asked rainbow, "How do you feel?"
Rainbow could hardly speak, but she managed to reply in a raspy voice, "Terrible."
The nurse barely pressed her hoof on Rainbow's ribs and asked, "Does this hurt?"
Rainbow shook her head as the nurse repeated this in many other spots.
About five minutes later, the nurse finished and said to Rainbow, "Alright you're fine. Nurse Redheart will be here soon to give you information on the surgery, and the pain you are feeling should go away in about seven minutes."
Rainbow didn't feel much pain except for a major head ache and an intense pain around the area of her wings, but it was still awful. Wait a minute... her wings... she just realized something felt different. She tried to move her wings, she didn't feel anything. She decided that they were numb and just then nurse Redheart walked in,"Ah, hello Rainbow Dash. I assume you are feeling intense pain around the area of where your wings used to be?"
Rainbow nodded. Then she realized what she just heard. Her eyes widened until they looked like they would explode or pop out of her head. She furiously tried to move her wings, to prove herself wrong. She could live without her wings, but it would be absolute hell for her. Being a Pegasus that flew all her life to do everything, not being able to fly at all would be the exact opposite of amazing. She couldn't feel her wings. She tried to move them. She felt nothing. She touched where her wings would be. She felt nothing. She wanted to cry. She wanted to scream. She wanted to run away from it all. She wanted to do something. She couldn't do anything. Her emotions were too strong. She just sat there, with her jaw hanging open and staring at the nurse.
Nurse Redheart was half suprised at Rainbow's reaction and half expectant of it. You would think that after going through surgery to fix your wings, you would try and check your wings. Redheart decided it would be best to leave her alone until her friends got there, which fortunately for Rainbow Dash, was nearly the second that Redheart had left.
Rainbow was still stunned and still locked in the position that she was earlier. Twilight was the only one that had entered the room. As soon as she saw Rainbow, she rushed over to her side and embraced her. Twilight felt really bad about her wings, and she blamed herself for it all. She managed to keep the emotions from showing on the outside, but on the inside they were slowly destroying her.
Surprisingly, they stayed in that position for well over 10 minutes before Rainbow was out of her trance and Twilight let go. Twilight started, "I....I....I'm so sorry Rainbow."
Rainbow opened her mouth to reply, "I... How.... What...." Rainbow still couldn't feel any emotion, or rather, she felt too much emotion to understand what was happening. Rainbow thought of her home, her dreams, her life, her job, everything , and how it would all change. She then wondered if there was a way magic could give her wings back. She would have to ask Twilight as soon as everything calmed down. Rainbow sighed, nothing more.
Twilight could no longer hold in the guilt she was feeling and yelled,"I'm so sorry!" She fell into rainbow and sobbed loudly.
Rainbow was surprised at this, and she was able to suck up all the feelings she had and stay strong for Twilight, "Twi, it's not your fault... It was just a stupid move on my part... don't feel bad... I'm sure I can make this work." It took Rainbow a good five minutes of convincing to calm her down. Then, Rainbow asked Twilight, "Hey, Twilight, this can't be fixed with... you know, magic? right?"
Twilight responded, "I don't think so... since your wings have been surgically removed, they would have moved the bones into a formation that can hold your body together without wings, and it would be to difficult for me to alter that many muscles and tendons and bones back to be able to give you your wings. However... I think if I can reorganize your genes and alter your skull a little bit...that would require some research and practice."
"Erm.... I think a simple no would have done just fine, but I am very interested in hearing about that possible 'solution' you have. Oh and, Twi, I have one more thing I want to talk to you about..."
"What is it?"
"Well... Scoots told me some things about her family, and well, apparently both her parents died before she knew them. She has lived in an orphanage for all her life... about a week ago, the orphanage had to close down for some reason, and now Scoots is living with Applebloom, and has no legal guardian... so..." Rainbow paused.
Twilight had a couple of possible answers for the unfinished explanation, but she wanted to see if she was correct, "So?"
"Well... I'm uh, kinda thinking about er," She didn't really want to finish, but she knew she had to, "Adoption."
Twilight nodded, and wanted to argue but she knew she wouldn't be able to win, so she just replied, "Well, if Scootaloo is living with no legal guardian, you have to talk to the mayor to get the paperwork to legally make her your guardian, and why would you even want to adopt a filly? Your only Twenty-three years old."
"Well, if I am going to spend the rest of my life with you , which I plan to do, I wont be able to have a kid of my own, and I uh, really want to be a parent."
That warmed Twilight's heart, and she understood why she would want to adopt Scootaloo, and Scootaloo would probably be overjoyed to live with her idol, let alone have her as a parent. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but not necessarily hard. She also knew that Rainbow would probably want to now move in with her, and that was a good thing for Twilight. Also, that 'solution' she had was going to take some time, and the combination of a couple of spells. Rainbow interrupted her train of thought with a question, "Hey Twi, do you know when I can get out of here anyway?"
"As a matter of fact, I do. Nurse Redheart said that you only need to be here for another five or six days, to make sure there are no fatal complications of anything including the medicine you have been taking, and the surgery you went through. And when you are checked out of the hospital, you will be prescribed to take painkillers for a week, or you will go through the worst pain of your life."
"Err okay, and how exactly did I lose my wings?" Rainbow seemed to be taking the situation a lot better than Twilight thought she would.
"Well, what I have been told is that during the surgery, while they where trying to relocate the bone where your right wing connect to your body one of the surgeons accidentally hit an artery and they had really no better option than to remove your wings. I'm really sorry Rainbow. I don't think I can ever make up for it." Most of that was true, but if she was correct, she could almost make up for her wings. Then she brought this up, "Hey, Rainbow since uhh, you won't be able to fly up to your cloud home any more, I was thinking that uh..." for some reason she couldn't bring herself to finish, luckily Rainbow did that for her, "I should move in with you? I'd be happy to." Rainbow said it with a smile on her face and motioned for Twilight to come closer to her. Twilight did so, and Rainbow pulled her into a kiss.
After about half a minute they broke the kiss, and Rainbow said, "As soon as I get out of here, we have a lot of stuff to do."
"Yes we do."
Scootaloo opened the door to Rainbow Dash's room and greeted her, "Hiya Rainbow!"
Rainbow was surprised, well, kinda. Scootaloo was more surprised when she found Twilight and Rainbow in a loving embrace. Rainbow and Twilight quickly parted and Rainbow replied, "Oh, uh, hey kiddo, what's up?"
Scoots shook her thoughts out of her head, "Nothin', just came to see you!"
Twilight entered with her words, "Err I think you two have some things to talk about. I'll leave you be." Twilight kissed Rainbow on the cheek and left the room.
Scootaloo was confused, but she decided it was better not to ask in fear of making herself look 'uncool' in front of her idol, "What do we need to talk about?" Scoots had a confused look on her face, but somehow smiling at the same time.
"Well, uhh, you remember when you told me about your parents?"
Scootaloo's smile turned into a small frown, "Yeah. What about it?"
"Well... I was uh... talking to Twilight about uh well adoption..."
Scootaloo's eyes widened and her jaw fell open in shock. She was a kid, but no stupid one, actually one of the most intelligent in her grade. Scoots responded,"Y-you mean-"
Rainbow had a lot more confidence when she spoke now, "Yes, Scootaloo, I would like to adopt you, and Twilight would be your second guardian."
Scootaloo was overjoyed, she started jumping around in circles, "Yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes YES!" Scoots stopped and realized what she was doing, then she started talking again, "Ohmygosh this is sooooo awesome!!!! We can hang out together all day, I can stay with you," She stopped, then she realized something, "And You can teach me to fly!"
That made Rainbow's frown, "Oh... about that..." Rainbow turned her back to the left so that scoot could see.
Scootaloo watched as Rainbow turned, and she saw no wings. Her eyes widened and jaw fell open. Again. "Where are your wings?"
"Gone."
"WHAT?!?!" Scootaloo didn't believe her.
"They tried to save my wings, but they couldn't. The surgery failed."
"Wait, where will you live then?"
"I'm going to move in with Twilight." After Rainbow said that, Scoots remembered when Rainbow said 'and Twilight will be your second guardian' Scoots asked, "Wait, and what did you mean Twilight will be my second guardian?"
"Well, Twilight would only agree to help me with the adoption process if I allow her to be a second guardian. Which makes sense since we are going to spend our lives together."
Well, that answered a lot of Scootaloo's questions. Rainbow spoke again, "You are ok with that, right?"
Scootaloo's response was somewhat a surprise to Rainbow, "Are you KIDDING me?" At first Rainbow thought it was a bad thing, then she saw a big smile appear on Scootaloo's face, "That would be totally AWESOME! Having the best pegasus AND unicorn as parents! What could be better?!"
Rainbow chuckled a bit at her enthusiasm, "Good, now kiddo, I suggest you go and tell Applebloom and her parents."
Scoots replied, "Will do, mom ." Scoots chuckled a bit and left before Rainbow could reply.
*** MEANWHILE AT TWILIGHTS TREE/LIBRARY/HOUSE THING.
Twilight was writing a letter to Princess Luna, since she knew that Luna hadn't taken over her duties of raising the moon, about helping her create a spell. A very complex spell.
"Signed, Twilight Sparkle. Aha! Finally done." She called out to Spike, "Spike!"
"Yes Twilight?" Spike was down in a flash.
"Can you send this letter for me?"
"Sure thing Twilight!" and with that, the letter was sent with a green flame.
"Thanks Spike."
"No problem!" Spike then went to reorganize the library, again.
***10 MINUTES LATER
"Twilight! A letter from the Princess!"
Twilight thought to herself, huh, that was quick , "Alright, can I see it?"
Spike handed her the parchment, and with no doubt it had the royal seal on it.
Twilight opened the letter, and it read:
Dear, Twilight Sparkle
I got your letter and responded as quickly as possible, this spell you want me to help you create is very... interesting. The only time Celestia and I had ever used anything like this was... well, never. I can assure you it is very possible, but neither of us have performed a spell like this in such a long time, I barely remember how to perform it. It will not be easy to recreate it, and in a way which allows you to alter bone structure enough to allow wings or a horn to be created. I shall be able to meet you actually tonight, we should have the spell created within six hours, considering how willing you are. I will see you shortly, and please do not rush to get things cleaned up.
Princess of the night,
Luna
Wow. That really was quick. Disregarding what the princess said, she started panicking and cleaning up.
***
Twilight had managed to clean up the library within an impossibly short amount of time. She figured she would still have an hour or two before the princess got here, so she decided to go talk to Rainbow Dash. She was at the hospital in what seemed like only a couple minutes.
She walked up the stairs to Dash's floor, and walked in the door, "Hello Rainbow, Scootaloo leave already?"
"Yeah, she took it well, actually."
"Huh, this day is full of surprises. Anyway, I wanted to talk to you about something."
"Well I got nothing better to do, so go ahead."
"Well, Princess Luna is visiting me later to help me with a spell, and..." She paused.
"And what?"
"Well, the spell we are trying to create would alter the genes of a pony, and allow me to alter bone structure where it is needed to give wings or a horn. And seeing as your bones are already altered to have wings, and your genes are that way as well, which means I can't give you wings again, and they wouldn't even be the same as your old one, they would be much weaker. So, if you would be willing, we might be able to turn you into a unicorn."
Rainbows mouth hung open. She didn't think it was possible to change a ponies race. She had thought about how awesome it would be to be a unicorn though. She always admired how amazing Twilight was at magic, and she always did wonder how hard magic really was. She thought to herself, 'Hell, if I can't fly why not try magic?', "Alright, I'll do it, but your teaching me how to do magic."
Twilight chuckled a bit, "Alright, in a couple days when you get out of here, the spell will probably be ready." Twilight walked closer to the bed Rainbow was in and pulled her into an embrace, "I love you Rainbow, don't forget that."
And, of course, just then Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie walk into the room. Pinkie isn't much surprised but Fluttershy sure is, She blushes and lets out a cute little squeak, "Oh my... I'm sorry I interrupted."
Rainbow and Twilight once again release each other quickly, and Twilight once again speaks first, "Oh it's fine Fluttershy! You probably would have found out soon anyway."
Fluttershy, still not looking at the two, and still blushing, replies, "So, um, you two are a couple?" Fluttershy was barely audible, but understandable.
This time Rainbow spoke, "Yeah, you caught us. How do you like the new Pinkie by the way, and Pinkie, why haven't I seen you all week?"
Pinkie spoke, "Well, I was here on Monday."
Rainbow responded, "Well that was five days ago."
"It was still this week."
Rainbow had no argument for that, so she didn't respond. Fluttershy spoke up, "Did Pinkie already know about, uhm, you two?"
Rainbow responded to this as well, "Yeah, she was actually the one that convinced me to tell Twilight, and things worked out well after that."
Twilight spoke, "Pinkie, when Rainbow gets out of here in a few days I want you to throw us a party. For multiple reasons."
Pinkie responded in a rather surprisingly calm way, "Sure, what are the reasons?"
"Well, Rainbow gets out in two days, safe as can be. And Rainbow Dash and I are planning on adopting Scootaloo." Rainbow Dash was surprised at the way Twilight was just straightforward with them. She didn't know why, but she was.
Twilight finished with the details for Pinkie Pie and then Pinkie left. About five minutes later after they were done talking to Fluttershy, she left as well. Now only two remained.
Twilight hugged Rainbow and said to her, "Sorry Rainbow, but I probably should be at the library before the Princess arrives."
Rainbow returned the hug and replied, "It's fine. I understand. Love ya Twi."
"Love you too Rainbow." And with that, she was off.
***
Guys, I have a confession to make. I don't like TwiDash the best of all pairings. AppleDash is the most amazing pairing ever, and you all know it! Anything that has Rainbow and Applejack as main characters and it has a romance tag on it, I've read it..
I think I have failed to thank my proof-reader, SystemFail. Without him this story would not look so good.
Twilight Sparkle was waiting, reading to pass the time. She had been waiting for an hour, hoping that a knocking on her door would come soon, and then she heard it. Knock knock knock . Twilight ran towards the door, "Coming!" The door was surrounded with Twilight's magic; then it flew open. Princess Luna was at the other side of the door. Twilight was expecting to see her, so she bowed then welcomed Luna in, "Please, princess, come in."'
"Ah, thank you, Twilight Sparkle. It has been to long since we- I have been here to visit this wonderful town."
Twilight didn't know how to respond to that, "Shall we get started, Princess?"
"Please, there is no need for such formality, Twilight Sparkle. Luna will do just fine. Yes, let's get started."
"Alright Prin- Luna." Luna followed Twilight downstairs into the basement where Twilight usually practiced her spells. Since Twilight had moved to Ponyville, she had created at least twenty spells. One of them included the enchantment she put on the room to stop any magic from entering or leaving it, in case something catastrophic happened. Well, she didn't technically create it, but it was altered heavily. Luna and Twilight got to work.
***
Rainbow lay on her bed in the hospital room, bored out of her mind. She only had to be in that room for another 20 hours. It was getting late and Rainbow thought she should probably get some sleep. Just when she decided she was going to get to sleep early, she heard a familiar voice from outside the room, "Rainbow, can Ah come in?"
Rainbow was surprised to hear this, especially since it had been nearly a month and she hadn't seen her, "Come in, Applejack."
The door slowly creaked open and a blonde maned earth pony walked in, wearing her stetson hat, "Ah'm sorry Ah haven't come in to visit ya Rainbow, It's jus', well ah didn't want to face the truth. Ah couldn't bear to lose another pony close to me."
"It's alright Apples, but you should have seen me earlier."
"Ah know, and ah'm sorry, will ya ever forgive me?"
Rainbow thought for a minute, and she had an idea..."No."
Applejack was somewhat shocked and she lifted her head up to look at Rainbow, "We-" She started to talk but Rainbow cut her off, "Unless, you stay here with me and find someway to keep me entertained." A devious grin formed on Rainbow's face. Applejack, after getting her thoughts together, grinned as well, and the two ponies talked. And talked. And talked.
Twilight and Luna had worked early into the morning, trying to create the spell to turn Dash into a unicorn. Luna explained how it would work, and among the things she said, a few things caught her interest. Luna had said that, since Rainbow Dash hadn't been born as a unicorn, it would not, in any way at all, affect her magical ability. Most unicorns were only able to learn spells that helped them with their talents, but Dash would not be affected by this limitation, thus meaning she can become as powerful as any other unicorn. She also said that if the spell succeeded, she would personally teach Rainbow Dash about magic, and help her master it. Of course Twilight would help a lot too, being her marefriend and all.
Once Luna was sure that Twilight understood everything, including the dangers of the spell, she said, "Twilight, do you understand everything I have taught you about this spell?" Twilight nodded and Luna continued, "Good. Now, I would like you to try it on me." After she said that, she casted a few spells on herself.
Twilight was shocked at what she said, her jaw dropped open and she stumbled back, "But Prin-"
Luna chuckled and responded, "Do not worry, child. The spell will only last an hour, at most. It will most likely only last for a few minutes. I assure you, I am in no danger." Luna cast a spell on herself that was sort of like a checkpoint, allowing her to revert to her old form without the use of magic, so if anything did go wrong she can easily fix it in the blink of an eye.
Twilight wasn't convinced, "B-but what if something goes wrong?"
"Twilight Sparkle, I assure you that no matter what happens, it can be fixed within seconds. Do not worry."
Twilight still wasn't convinced, but she responded anyway, "Alright... if you say so."
Twilight's horn glowed, it's magical aura was not the same color as it normally was. It lit a darker purple, glowing fiercely in the dark room. The magical aura surrounded Princess Luna, and a ball of pure black floated out of Twilight's horn and slowly towards the princess. The second the ball of pure dark energy touched the Princess, the room seemed to explode into various shades of blue. Seconds after that, the only thing Twilight Sparkle saw, was pitch black.
***
It was about noon when Twilight woke up. She slowly opened her eyes and she looked around. She was in her room, in her bed, specifically. She had a terrible headache as she tried to recall what had happened. She fought back the pain and tried to remember, but to no avail. Twilight sat up in the bed, and this is when Luna said, "Ah, Twilight, you are finally awake."
Twilight was stunned, she wondered why the Princess was in her bedroom. Upon seeing Princess Luna, she tried to stumble out of bed, only to be held in place by a dark blue magical aura, "Please Twilight, you need rest after what happened."
Still confused, Twilight asked, "Princess, w-what happened?"
Luna was a little confused by her question, but she answered, "You did it. The spell worked, but it seemed to phase you quite a bit. It did no damage to you, you just weren't ready for the magical strain it put on you."
It was starting to come back to Twilight. She waited a few more seconds before it finally hit her, "Oh! It worked? That's so awesome!" Twilight broke composure there, and wondering why she said "That's so awesome" She decided Dash was finally rubbing off on her, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
Princess Luna chuckled and told Twilight, "Yes it is, Twilight. You may use that spell whenever you wish, and if you master it even more, you may do absolutely anything with that spell. I give you full permission to use that spell for whatever needs, if the one you are using it on agrees to it."
Twilight was very pleased, "Thank you Princ- Luna."
Four hours. Rainbow Dash only had Four hours left of complete boredom. Absolute and pure boredom. Just when she thought things would never get better, she heard the door creak open, and as soon as she saw the first leg of the mystery pony, her eyes widened to impossible limits, almost exploding. Out of every pony it could have been that came and visited her, it was her. It was-
BAM. Cliffhanger. Deal with it <3. This time it didn't take me 9 days! It only took me 2 or 3. or 4. I'll try to get the next one out soon, and I'm going to say now that this story will not go much farther past the part were Rainbow gets out of the hospital and Adopts scoots/gets turned into a unicorn. That stuff will probably happen during the sequel, but you'll only know when that comes out if you watch my suspicious moves very, very carefully.
Enjoy the cliffhanger?
...It was Spitfire. Rainbow's jaw dropped. Spitfire walked in and said, "Hey there, Rainbow Dash."
Rainbow examined Spitfire. She wasn't in her Wonderbolt costume, and she looked absolutely... amazing. Rainbow quickly regained her composure and replied, "Heya Spitfire. What brings you here?"
"Well, I heard what happened and I needed to come see how you were holdin' up."
"But... why?"
"You only saved my life, what, three times? I figure the least I can do is come talk to you."
Rainbow was confused when she said three times. She only remembered the one at the best young fliers competition, then she figured Spitfire was counting the other two times when the six elements saved Equestria. Spitfire continued talking, "I really wanted to come here anyway, and this was a good excuse. Plus I never really got to meet you."
Rainbow was somewhat surprised that the captain of the Wonderbolts wanted to meet HER. She always thought it was the other way around, "Well, uh, thanks. I guess."
Spitfire asked, "So, how did you manage to screw up so bad anyway?"
"Well, hehe, funny story. I was trying to impress my girlfriend-"
A part of Spitfire's heart fell when she learned that Dash had a marefriend, "Wait, let me guess. The Sonic Rainboom."
"Yeah, I broke through the sound barrier, but I broke it way too late and hit the ground. Did some pretty significant damage to me, and a few others."
"What were the damages it caused you?"
"Major concussion, a lot of broken bones, some minor internal bleeding. And that isn't even the worst of it." Rainbow stopped and chuckled to herself out of pity. She slowly turned her back enough so that Spitfire could see part of her back, "My wings."
Spitfire looked, and she saw nothing... wait NOTHING?!?! Spitfire gasped and her jaw fell open, "Y-your wings!"
Rainbow had pretty much become settled with the idea that she was never going to be able to fly again, "Heh, yeah. I screwed up pretty bad."
Spitfire's head was about to explode with all the questions, "B-b-b-but, what?"
Rainbow chuckled at the look on Spitfire's face, "Yeah, It really sucks. Everything I worked for thrown away in an instant."
Thousands of thoughts were running through Spitfire's mind. None of which were positive, she was still babbling on, "But how... what..."
Rainbow continued, "They tried to save my wings, but something went wrong in surgery."
Just a few seconds later, the door creaked open once again, this time a lavender mare had walked through the door, "Hey Rainbow! I-" She saw Spitfire and the surprised look on her face and sighed, "How many times have I walked in on you when somepony else is here?"
Rainbow attempted to answer that, but she couldn't recall any other times, "I actually don't know..."
Twilight smiled, she hadn't been doing much thinking about it lately, but she just noticed that Rainbow grew up. A lot. Spitfire had pushed most of the bad thoughts out of her head and asked, "So, Rainbow, this your marefriend?"
Rainbow responded, "Oh, Yeah! Twilight, Spitfire. Spitfire, Twilight. Yes, Spitfire. This is my beautiful marefriend."
Twilight blushed a little and continued where she was, "Rainbow, I came to tell you that the spell worked. It isn't easy to do... but it works perfectly!"
Rainbow smiled and replied, "Really? That's awesome!"
Spitfire broke into the conversation, "Ahem, what spell?"
Rainbow didn't answer the question but said, "You'll find out. That is, if you stick around."
Spitfire sighed and decided to stick around for another day. She had another week before she had to go back to training anyway, might as well enjoy it, "Fine."
Suddenly, a question invaded Rainbow's mind, "So, you're okay with, uh, mares liking other mares?"
Spitfire had been asked this before, "Yeah, I don't care about that stuff. I'll admit I like other mares as well."
Dash had been surprised at her response. She just said she was a 'filly fooler' with no hesitation. Rainbow sighed, this month was full of surprises.
Spitfire noticed and a little friend, "Dash, somethin' wrong?"
Rainbow looked up at Spitfire and quickly replied, "Nah, just this month has been full of surprises."
Spitfire pondered Rainbow's words, then she responded, "Yeah, I can imagine."
Rainbow looked at the clock hanging on the wall, 1:00. 'Wow. Have we really been talking that long?' Rainbow thought. She was still counting down, three hours to go. It seemed like all of them were done talking, so Dash decided to strike up a conversation, "So, Spitfire, aren't you supposed to be training or something?"
Spitfire turned her gaze to Rainbow Dash, "Well, yeah, but I'm taking a couple weeks off. Everypony needs a break once in a while, ya'know."
"Yeah." Rainbow replied.
Spitfire continued, "Plus it gets really boring when we train. We just do the same tricks and stunts every day. It amazes me how many people are willing to pay to see us do the same thing over and over again. The last time we switched routines was..." Spitfire paused for a minute, trying to remember when they actually did. She finally remembered, "Oh yeah, it was like two and a half years ago."
Rainbow thought for a moment. Now that she thought about it, she does remember them doing the same things at a lot of their shows. Spitfire continued to talk, "All the fame too, it's annoying. Privacy is almost irrelevant for the Wonderbolts. We almost always have reporters following us, wanting to turn something they heard into a completely false story."
Rainbow listened to her rant about all the bad things about being a Wonderbolt. She got a little tired of hearing about it, surprising as that is, and responded, "Hey, if it's all that bad, why don't you just quit? I'm sure you have more than enough bits to last you a lifetime and more."
Spitfire pondered the idea for a few moments. She never really thought about that, "Huh, I never really thought about that, maybe I'll buy a house here. That actually sounds nice... I'll think about it." Rainbow Dash was right, she did have enough bits to last more than a lifetime. That was one of the good things about being a Wonderbolt. Plus, if she moved to Ponyville, she would be able to get to know Dash better. That was her main reason for coming here in the first place. Two positives and no negatives. Well, a negative would be walking in the town for the first time, and when they found out she was living there. Two on Two. This was going to need some debating.
Twilight was about to say something. Her mouth opened and she was about to speak when the door opened and another pony you would never expect to see at a modern hospital to see Rainbow Dash. Twilight turned her head to the door just as it opens and, since her mouth was already open, she just gasps.
Spitfire turns from Rainbow and also looks. She gasps as well and her mouth stays open.
Rainbow was the first one to see, she was already in the same position as the other two, just not standing. It was...
Ok guys, honestly sorry about that. I couldnt find a place to end it soo.... anyway this should be obvious as to who it is. sigh
Guys... I'm afraid I have some bad news... this story won't be very much longer, at most 3 chapters, and... the sequel... I'm afraid it won't be very happy... sorry... BUT Mabye it will be! Who knows. My head thinks things up, then it pressures itself to do those things. Then it changes those things. My mind is a very messed up place. Sorry about the late update... I feel as if my writing is starting to get worse and worse... plus I was bit by a deadly bug called TF2
Hey guys, I'm running out of Ideas for this, and I want to get to writing the sequel sooner rather than later. As I said earlier, it may not be the happiest thing ever.
"I'm free! Finally free!" Rainbow yelled as she exited the hellish building with Twilight and Spitfire close behind. They spent the last hour making sure that Rainbow would be fine on her hooves. She collapsed a few times, but overall she would be fine. She hadn't suffered much damage to her physical build. There had been too many surprises for Rainbow in that hospital. Two of the biggest were the surprise visits from Spitfire, and him...
Twilight chuckled a bit. She was happy to see Rainbow happy, "Yes, but remember, we have things that need to be done."
With a smile on her face, Spitfire said, "Alright guys, I'll come visit you later. I have stuff to think about." With that she darted off into the skies. She did have a lot to think about, she was surprised quite a few times in the short time she was there.
Rainbow hoped that Spitfire would make the decision to move here, it would be really cool to get to know the captain of the Wonderbolts. Well, of course, if she did move here she would have to quit the Wonderbolts, but it would still be cool to know the former Wonderbolt captain.
Twilight decided it would be interesting to have Spitfire move here. She knew that if she did, she would be tackled at first sight wandering the town, but the ponies would eventually get used to it. She also knew that if Spitfire moved to Ponyville, Rainbow would pull her into the group of six they already had. None the less, Rainbow and Twilight had stuff that needed to get done.
Rainbow decided that she would go get Scootaloo first and get all the boring paperwork done quickly, "Hey, Twilight, I'm gonna go get Scootaloo. I'll meet you in the library in an hour or so."
"Alright Dash, I'll see you then." Twilight and Rainbow shared a quick kiss before the two parted their ways.
***
Twilight just got to the library and opened the door, only to see a familiar blue Alicorn. Twilight stumbled backwards, "P-princess!" It was Princess Luna.
"Ah, Twilight, you're finally here! I'm sorry I came unannounced. Oh, and please, just Luna."
Twilight got up and asked, "Prin- err, Luna, what brings you here?"
"Well, I figured out a way to make the spell we re-created earlier easier to cast. It is quite complicated actually. Oh, and I wanted to ask you when you were going to cast this spell on your friend."
Twilight didn't quite remember mentioning why she was going to need the spell. She didn't remember much of the details of that night other than the spell. She concluded that it was one of her forgotten memories and replied to the Princess, "If all goes well... it should be tonight."
Luna's face brightened a little, "Wonderful! Is it okay if I get the preparations ready?"
"Of course Princess, follow me" Twilight led Luna to the same place they cast the spell the first time, and Luna got to work.
***
Rainbow was walking up to the front door of Sweet Apple Acres. It felt odd to Rainbow walking this far. She usually never walked. It would take some getting used to. Rainbow knocked on the door and it was quickly answered by Big Macintosh, "Hey Big mac, is Scootaloo here?"
If he was surprised at all he didn't show it, "Eeyup." He walked back and a couple minutes later a small orange Pegasus. It looked like her wings were finally starting to grow, "Hey kiddo, you ready to go?" Scootaloo was excited to see Rainbow Dash at the door. She knew that Rainbow was getting out of the hospital today. Scootaloo was trying to play it cool in front of her role model and soon-to-be mother, "Yeah, lets go!" Truth be told, Scoots didn't even know where they were going. Scootaloo followed Dash and they left on their way to the Library.
***
Rainbow and Scootaloo were just getting to the library as Twilight walked out, "Hey Twilight!" Twilight turned to meet their gaze, "Hey Rainbow, Scootaloo" Twilight turned her head a little and smiled.
Rainbow asked, "Are you ready to go Twilight?"
"Yeah, Luna is setting up for 'the spell.'" Twilight and Rainbow just decided to call it 'the spell' for now.
Scootaloo, confused, asked, "What's 'the spell'?"
Rainbow chuckled and looked at Scootaloo, "It's nothin' kiddo, you'll see soon enough."
Scootaloo shrugged and walked in between both of her soon-to-be parents. She wondered what life would be like, certainly better than it was. Twilight and Rainbow actually had a very extensive conversation about this. Twilight at first tried to argue, but she realized that it would be better for Scootaloo and Rainbow. It would make Scootaloo's life happier overall and it would certainly teach Rainbow responsibility, but with all the time she spent in the hospital, she grew up a lot. Rainbow was ready to take on this challenge.
Twilight had always noticed something about that Pegasus, secretly making her Twilight's favorite. Scootaloo reminded her of Dash. This would certainly be an interesting change in her life. The three walked off to go get the legal adoption papers signed.
Luna just finished the painting of the incredibly complicated runic symbol on the wall of the room the spell would be cast in. This specific symbol would help Twilight and release the strain on her mind while she casts the spell. It should be enough to keep her conscious through the whole spell. It will still put quite a bit of magical strain on her though, nothing can help her completely.
Conveniently, Scootaloo, Rainbow, Twilight, and Spitfire just got back. Spitfire caught the three others when she was flying around town, exploring. Scootaloo freaked out when she saw Spitfire, but eventually calmed down. She was incredibly excited already, having two great new parents. Luna walked into the main room of the library to greet them, only expecting two, "Hello Twilight!"
Spitfire didn't jump when she saw the Princess, she was used to seeing them, "Hello Luna, nice to see you again." Twilight just nodded while Scootaloo stumbled backwards and freaked out. She wasn't used to seeing the Princesses on a regular basis. Twilight got Rainbow's attention, "Rainbow, you ready?"
This shook Rainbow out of her shock and she replied, regaining her coolness, "Yeah, lets do this."
Twilight turned to Scootaloo and Spitfire, "You two should probably stay out here, we don't know all the side effects of the spell or what could happen yet."
Twilight and Rainbow followed Princess Luna into the enchanted room.
Twilight told Rainbow to get to the very center of the room as Luna told Twilight how to use the runic symbol to her advantage. Luna cast a spell on both Twilight and Rainbow to monitor their vitals and make sure nothing happened. Twilight tapped into the magical reserve of the symbol and her horn quickly lit in a dark purple. The magical aura locked Rainbow in place and a ball of pure energy formed out of Twilight's horn. It was colored a deep cyan, nearly the same color as Rainbow's coat. Twilight was immediately feeling weak and she felt the spell starting to fail. She pushed more energy into the spell and the ball of energy moved towards Rainbow slowly. The cyan ball touched Rainbows forehead and the entire room exploded in a blast of light. Rainbow immediately fell and Twilight fell with her. Twilight's vitals had quickly spiked and dropped below normal levels. Rainbow's just spiked for a few moments and returned to just above normal.
Luna quickly cast every spell she could think of that would help Twilight. She was panicking. She never thought this would actually happen, she should have known better. Luna felt another spike in Twilight's heart rate, then nothing.
Hey guys, thank Systemfail for this chapter. We were annoying each other for quite a while with PM's and such. I even managed to convince him to make a story of his own a few days back, it is a TwilightxVinyl, check it out Here
Twilight woke up in a hospital bed. She tried to get up, but the second she tried to move she felt a large surge of pain and jolted right back into position. She tried to speak but the only thing that came out was a groan. She heard a voice, she couldn't tell who's voice it was though, "Twilight, how do you feel?"
Twilight tried to open her mouth to answer, but nothing came out. She heard the voice calling her name again and again, slowly fading away. Twilight fell unconscious. Again.
***
It took Scootaloo a couple days to adjust to the horn on Rainbow's head. Rainbow had already mastered basic spells like levitation. Luna had offered Rainbow a position as her student, and she was currently doing well, considering she had been a unicorn for three days.
Luna had made sure that Twilight would be okay before leaving the hospital, they didn't really know what happened, but she was alive and should turn out fine. They did see major exhaustion, though. Even with the help of the ancient symbol, Twilight wasn't up to the task of casting that spell twice so quickly. Twilight was not in any life threatening danger, but it would take a week or so to recover.
Rainbow was going to the hospital to see how Twilight was holding up, hopefully she had been able to keep conscious for longer than a few minutes by now. Scootaloo was walking beside Rainbow. Scoots and Rainbow had already formed a strong bond in the short time Twilight had been gone. Rainbow walked up to the door to Twilight's room and asked the nurse if she could go in. The nurse replied yes, so she walked into the room to a barely-awake Twilight Sparkle, "Hey Twilight, how do you feel?"
Twilight looked awful, she had dark circles under her eyes and her eyelids were heavy, "Been better." Her voice was coarse, and she couldn't see very well.
Scootaloo walked into the room and next to Rainbow Dash, "Hey Twilight." Somehow, Scootaloo managed to bring a smile to Twilight's face. Twilight didn't know why yet, but when she was around, it was like having two Rainbow Dashes. It was like Pinkie and her Pinkie sense, she couldn't understand it and she wasn't going to try, for now anyway, "Hello Scootaloo."
Rainbow walked closer to Twilight and said, "I'm glad to see you're okay, I was pretty worried when I heard what happened." Twilight was rather surprised to hear this, she knew that Rainbow would be worried, but she wouldn't be caught dead showing those feelings. 'She has changed.' Twilight thought to herself. To be honest, Twilight expected change from Rainbow. She just wasn't expecting this, "Yeah, doctor said I was going to be fine. I'll only be here another day. How do you like the magic?"
"It's awesome! I've already learned how to levitate things and move them around. I'm still trying to do that teleporting thing though."
Twilight was incredibly surprised she could already do that. It had been three days. Three days. It took Twilight two weeks to learn to levitate things, "Wow, Rainbow. That is incredible. It took me a good part of two weeks to learn how to levitate objects."
Rainbow blushed a little at the compliment, but it was barely visible, if at all, "Yeah, well, you were probably a lot younger than me when you learned..."
Twilight was once again surprised by Rainbow's response. Twilight expected her to say something like, 'Yeah, well, I'm pretty awesome.' Twilight was tired, and she needed to think about more things, so she said the only thing she could think of at the moment, "Rainbow, I'm glad you stopped by, and you too Scootaloo, but I need to think about some things."
Rainbow understood, she tapped Scootaloo on the back and led her out of the room. She looked back and said, "I love you Twilight. I'll see you soon." With that, the two ponies left.
Twilight had a lot to think about, but for now, she needed to sleep.
Spitfire was finally done deciding on what to do. Ever since Rainbow had suggested that she quit, she had been in deep thought. She was rather surprised with herself that she never actually thought about it before. It took a while, but she decided that this would be an interesting town to settle down in. She was also rather bored of the same routine over and over again.
Once she announces that she quits, Soarin will become the new captain and she will be screwed over by the media for a week or two. She wanted a chance to meet some ponies that wouldn't craze over her being a wonderbolt, and she really wanted to get to know Dash. 'Huh' she thought, 'Maybe things will turn out ok for once...'
Spitfire wanted to explore Ponyville a little more, see if there was anywhere she could build a house, and she wanted to visit this 'Sugar Cube Corner' she kept hearing about, but for now, she had a letter to write.
***
Pinkie Pie knew what had happened to her, but her original self was not completely lost. She had been planning a HUGE party for Rainbow. She had originally planned to have the party the night Rainbow got out of the hospital, but she couldn't due to their plans and Twilight ending up in the hospital again. She had set the alternative date for the night Twilight got out. Anyway, Pinkie had managed to get Princess Luna to attend, she still didn't know how she did it herself, but she was grateful.
This was going to be the biggest party Pinkie had ever thrown, and she couldn't wait.
***
Twilight had just been released from the hospital, the doctors said she would be fine, she just needed to try to avoid extensive magic use for a couple weeks. She wondered how the two Princesses would have been able to perform that spell so easily. Twilight would probably never have to use that spell again. She wondered how Rainbow was doing with her magic and dealing with her new life. It must have been hard for her to lose everything she spent her entire life on in just seconds.
Twilight was almost completely awake, she would probably need a coffee or something. She decided the first place she would go would be the library. She started walking, then she remembered she could teleport, that wasn't extensive magic use right? Her horn started to glow and she focused on the front door to the library.
*Poof*
Twilight appeared in front of the library, the spell was harder to cast than it should of been, but she expected it. The door flung open and Twilight walked in. She walked into the kitchen and quickly made herself some coffee, "Hey Twi, didn't know you were out yet."
The voice surprised her and she quickly turned to see Rainbow inches away from her. Rainbow quickly kissed her, "Hey Twilight, Luna said she wanted to meet both of us at Sugar Cube Corner tonight at eight. She didn't tell me why, but I guess it's important."
Twilight looked at the clock on the wall and saw it was only three. She had time, "Alright, well that gives us quite a bit of time. Where's Scootaloo?"
"She's spending the night with Sweetiebelle and Applebloom at Fluttershy's house."
"Alright, what about Spike?"
"Last time I saw him he was sleeping."
Twilight smiled, she was glad things were going fine. If Rainbow was unhappy about any of this, she was hiding it very well. Twilight continued to question Rainbow, and Rainbow happily answered. The two talked for about twenty minutes then Rainbow decided she needed a nap. Twilight joined her, because she forgot about the coffee and it had gone cold, and better safe than sorry. She didn't want to show up at Sugar Cube Corner tired, especially since the Princess would be there.
The two walked up to the bedroom and eventually fell asleep in an embrace.
***
Twilight awoke with a start, hearing Rainbow calling, "Twilight! Twilight get up!"
Twilight slowly opened her eyes, surprised to not have light flood her vision. She heard again, "Twilight, get up!"
Twilight groaned and replied, "Just five more minutes..." Many people didn't know it, but Twilight was normally awful at getting up in the mornings, or any other time, really.
Rainbow was getting annoyed, so she decided to pull everything off of the bed, except Twilight, of course. The sheets and comforter of the bed were surrounded in a crimson aura and quickly flew to the opposite wall of the bed, "Twilight! Get up, we're going to be late!"
Twilight jumped as she felt the sudden lack of heat around her and she realized what time it was, "Horseapples! I'll be ready in a minute!" Twilight rushed into the bathroom and not thirty seconds later did she come out looking as if she had been awake for hours.
Rainbow's jaw dropped at how quick she got herself cleaned up, "How did you-"
"No time, lets go!" Rainbow shook away her astonishment and followed Twilight down the flight of stairs and out the door. They 'napped' longer than anypony should have the privilege to.
After a minute of running, Twilight asked, "How long did we sleep?"
Rainbow replied, "A long time." Rainbow noticed Twilight was tiring quickly, so she slowed down. Twilight noticed and slowed to meet her pace. Rainbow could have kept up her sprinting pace for another few minutes before having to slow down, but she didn't want to leave Twilight behind. They were only a few minutes out from Sugar Cube Corner, they might just make it in time.
They finally rounded a corner and saw the building. They both slowed to a walking pace in order to catch their breath and make it seem like they didn't just wake up. They stopped in front of the door and shared a quick kiss before entering.
Twilight went in first. The first thing she noticed was that is was dark, "Hello, anypony th-"
"SURPRISE!" The lights came on and at least forty ponies shouted at the same time. The other half of them were off by just seconds. Twilight yelled and fell backwards and Rainbow almost fell back but recovered quickly and started laughing. Rainbow helped Twilight up and then asked, "Hey Pinkie, whats the occasion?"
Pinkie energetically bounced through the crowd and yelled, "You don't need an occasion to PAAARTAAAY!" As if on que, the music started blasting. Rainbow turned to Twilight and asked, "I thought she was supposed to be no-"
"Stop. My brain is already hurting."
Rainbow didn't question and the two of them split up to see their friends. Rainbow also made a mental note to stay away from the punch. Being a veteran of Pinkie's parties, she knew it was almost always spiked. The only time it wasn't was when they were throwing a welcome party. Rainbow turned back to warn Twilight then she though, 'Huh. I never have seen Twilight drink. This could be fun.' and decided against warning her. She turned to the table where the refreshments were, and sure enough, Twilight was already getting a drink.
Rainbow was looking around for some of her friends, and to her surprise, she saw Princess Luna, and she was walking towards her. Rainbow pretended like she didn't notice, but the Princess could see right through it. Luna walked up and started speaking, "Hello, Rainbow Dash."
Rainbow pretended to be surprised and responded, "Oh hey Princess, I didn't see you there."
Luna rolled her eyes and decided to play along, "Sorry to surprise you."
"Oh no trouble at all Princess, always nice to see you."
"You know, you're very lucky."
"Huh?"
"Your marefriend happens to be one of three ponies stronger than me. Magically of course."
A few questions entered her head, "Who are the other two?"
"Celestia, and..." She paused for effect, "you "
Rainbow was taken completely by surprise and another hundred questions entered her mind, "W-what? Me?"
"Yes. If you want to step outside I can explain it better."
Rainbow just nodded mouth agape and followed her outside. They walked through the crowd and out the door, "Alright, well you know where the source of all magic is right?" Luna started.
"Umm... no."
"Well, for almost all unicorns it comes from a star named Stiurlet 500,000 miles from this planet. This star is mostly made of energy, and the unicorns have the ability to use this energy for any purpose. However, there are some exceptions. Celestia and I created the Solar and Lunar orbs, or the Sun and the Moon, in this galaxy. I harvest my power from the moon, and Celestia from the sun. When Twilight was born, after some magic surge she had, she was somehow able to use energy from the sun, and that hasn't changed, and never will. When she changed your race, you inherited the same energy source that she has. The sun is made of pure energy, technically giving the three ponies connected to it unlimited power, but all three of you will never be able to use it to its full extent, and even if you did, the insane amount of energy you would be using would kill you after using it. Another interesting thing is that You and Twilight are able to use Celestial magic allowing you to control the Sun and Moon. Celestia and I would normally put restraints on your magic to only allow you to use it to a specific extent, but we know you would not do anything harmful with your magic. Please do not prove us wrong."
Rainbows mouth was agape as she listened intently. The last part of her speech finally registered and she responded, "We won't. Don't worry." She regained her composition quickly. Rainbow was curious about one other thing, completely unrelated to the current topic, "Hey, Princess, can I ask you something?"
"Yes, of course"
"Do you and Celestia have to sleep?"
Luna chuckled a bit, "Yes, but not as often as normal ponies do. We only have to sleep once every couple weeks."
"That is so awesome."
Luna chuckled again, "Well, shall we return to the party?"
Rainbow got up, "After you, Princess." The two returned to the party and got back to partying.
This was going to be a long night.
***
Twilight and Rainbow were just leaving the party as it ended. Rainbow was utterly surprised at how Twilight managed to stay sober. She drank a lot of the 'punch'.
It seemed like only seconds when the two arrived at the library. It had been a rather long night, they had been at the party for three hours, but it seemed like five. They would never say it to Pinkie's face, but that party was rather... dull.
Even though they had been out partying for hours, Twilight didn't quite want to end it yet, so she said something rather obvious, "You know, this is the last time we'll be alone for a while..."
A grin appeared on Rainbow's face. She knew where this was going. She thought 'This is going to be perfect.' She also thought they would have a perfect life together. Thought.
***
Sorry guys. Just sorry. It should not have taken me this long, I shouldn't have ended it like this. The only reason I did end it like this is because I couldn't find a proper spot to end it, so I just did. It wasn't supposed to be this long, but it was. Anyway, the sequel should be longer. I would make it a completely separate story, but it requires everything in this story to make sense.
EPILOGUE OVER TWO YEARS AFTER!!!
***TWO YEARS LATER***
"Hey dweeb, learn to fly yet?" Silver spoon questioned in front of the class. Scootaloo was out of primary school now and attending the recently built Ponyville Highschol. It was a nice change from having the same old teacher everyday, not bashing Cherilee or anything like that, but having variation was nice. Unfortunately, right after lunch Scootaloo had the misfortune of sharing a class with Silver spoon, Economics to be specific, one of the required classes, and right after she had one with Diamond Tiara.
"I haven't, have you learned to be a decent pony yet?" Scootaloo struck back, the lash obviously having an effect on her given the sudden frown.
Unfortunately, right at that moment their teacher, Mr. Lining walked into the room. "Knock it off Scootaloo, there will be no such talk in my classroom! Understood?"
Scootaloo scowled and replied, "Yeah yeah, whatever." Scoots turned her head to the side and noticed a look on Silver's face that said 'I win, Bitch."
"Apologize to Ms. Silver Spoon."
Scootaloo redirected her eyes to the teacher angrily and said "No way in hell! She started it, there's no way I'm apologizing to that thing!"
"SCOOTALOO!" The teacher looked very angry, but it didn't intimidate her at all.
Silver Spoon spoke up now, "How could you say such a thing Scootaloo! I never did anything to harm you, and if I did I'm sooooooooo sorry!" Silver had practice at being a manipulative, horrible pony, and had gotten very good at it over the years.
"Scootaloo remove yourself from my class THIS INSTANT!"
"Gladly." Scootaloo refused to lose her pride over this, and proudly grabbed her bag and walked to the door.
"Why don't you visit the Principal while you're at it, and tell her I'll be their shortly to discuss your wrongdoings."
"Will do!" Scootaloo jolted out the door, pissed off at the teacher and the bitch that started all of this, Silver Spoon.
As she walked through the tiled halls to the principals office, she just wished the day was over.
I wonder what mom is doing Scootaloo thought to herself, when she thought the word 'mom' she meant Rainbow in particular, Twilight was up in Canterlot on official business with the Princess.
Finally, Scootaloo reached the purple colored door that signified she reached the principals office, knocked twice, opened the door and walked in.
"Hey, anybody in here? Got sent by Mr... Whats going on?" Scootaloo had wondered why the door was closed, and the reason became somewhat apparent when she realized she had interupted a conversation between the principal, Mrs. Lightwing, and two royal guards.
"Why what a fortunate coincidence Scootaloo, these two are here to see you."
"Wha-"
"You are miss Scootaloo then?" Scootaloo was worried. What does the royal guard want from me!? Have I done something wrong? CRAP! Did they find out about the shop I wrecked with my scooter?
"yes" Scootaloo unwillingly got smaller in posture and voice.
"Do not worry miss, you are not in trouble. We have orders to bring you to the Royal Canterlot Hospital, Mrs. Dash and Mrs. Sparkle are already there. Please come with us."
Now Scootaloo was even more worried, but for a different reason. Why would she need to go to a hospital? ESPECIALLY one in Canterlot, and what were her parents doing there?
Despite her questions, Scootaloo found herself unable to speak and instead just nodded and followed them outside to the chariot they had waiting.
***
The Chariot came to a swift but controlled landing right outside of the Canterlot hospital an hour later. Scootaloo said her thanks to the guards who nodded and took off towards the castle.
Scootaloo made her way in through the glass front doors of the hospital and proceded to the front desk.
"May I help you miss?" The secretary greeted her with a smile. The mare certainly looked the part, with a gray, boring coat and glasses in front of her eyes.
"Yeah, I was brought here by the Royal guard, my name is Scootaloo."
The smile faded on the secretaries face as she responded,"Ah yes, miss Scootaloo, please follow me, Mrs. Dash is waiting for you."
What's wrong? Why didn't she say Twilight too? Is she hurt? Oh gosh I hope she's okay!
The two mares walked through the halls and up two flights of stairs, eventually coming to a room labeled ICU 4
ICU?!?! What happened?
Just as the mares approached the blue door blocking entrance to the room, it opened on it's own and, to the surprise of both the Secretary and Scotaloo, The solar diarch walked out of the room.
"I apologize your majesty! I did not know you were here!" The grey mare bowed down, Scootaloo following shortly after.
"Do not be sorry my little ponies, I teleported here it was not expected for you to know of my presence. Miss Scootaloo, Your mothers are waiting for you, don't keep them waiting much longer dear." Though Celestia had a smile on her face, it was obvious she was troubled by something and a solemn undertone was visible on her face.
"Of-Of course not your majesty!" Scootaloo quickly stood up and walked passed the still bowing secretary and the Princess of the sun into the intensive care unit that harbored both her parents. The second she entered the room, the monotonous sound of medical equipment beeping filled her ears. Immediately after that, she saw her mother Rainbow Dash, sitting in a leather chair with wooden arm rests, face in her hooves and audibly sobbing.
"Mom? Whats wrong?" Dash looked up at her to respond, eyes wet with tears falling down her cheeks. There was no need for her to answer however, as Scootaloo looked at the bed to see who was on it. At first she did not recognize the mare, but after a minute she realized the one laying on the bed was her other parent, Twilight sparkle. She was so pale the lavender coat was barely recognizable.
"Mom, whats wrong with Twilight?" Instead of saying anything, Dash got up from her chair and hugged her adopted daughter fiercely. It was obvious that Dash was greatly distressed in a way Scootaloo had never seen before. She returned the hug and allowed Dash to cry on her shoulder for a little bit before she regained some of her bearing and stifled her sobs.
"I'm sorry you have too see me like this, it must hurt my reputation of awesomeness haha." Dash sprouted a small but ingenuine smile, trying her best to lighten the mood even a little bit.
"It's okay mom, I know you're awesome, but what is wrong with mother?" Over the years, Scoots found a system where she would refer to Rainbow as mom and Twilight as mother to avoid confusion.
"Scoots you remember how your mother wasn't feeling to well before she left to Canterlot?"
"Yeah it was something wrong with her magic or something right?"
"Yeah it was causing her minor pain to cast spells even as simple as telekinesis."
"So I'm guessing that got worse and she ended up here, right?" Scootaloo was partially right, but the details were much more complicated than that.
"Yes, thats generally how it went. Twilight has contracted an unknown disease or condition that the doctors have never seen before. Her magic is being corrupted and turned unusable and damaging to her body." Dash started to tear up again, and sobs came out despite her best attempts to keep them in.
"Mom whats wrong? Is it really that bad? Is she going to get better?"
"Sweetheart, your mother is dying."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It has been two weeks since Rainbow and Twilight started dating. Both of them are happy as can be. Rainbow was planning a surprise for Twilight, however this involves the cursed preparation... Math.
The only bad thing is that rainbow is not always the most focused pony when it comes to these sort of things. She was halfway done when she got bored.
"Stupid math. I should just wing it. That always worked before" Rainbow thought aloud.
Rainbow was preparing for a trick to surprise Twilight. She was going to try and complete a third sonic rainboom. She had all the information she needed at the time. She didn't know what she was getting herself into. She was planning. She had to make sure there were no flaws. There could be no mistakes. She couldn't afford to make a mistake. She needed it all to be perfect. And it was. The plan was perfect, fool proof. She thought of almost all possibilities and made sure that the would only happen if she wanted them to happen.
Rainbow finished up her plan around 2:30 in the afternoon. Twilight had told her that she would be going to help Applejack later in the evening, around 5:30 or 6:00. She decided she was going to go for a fly and warm herself up. She stretched and walked out of her door. She thought that it would end perfect. She didn't know that what she was going to do in about three hours could kill her.
~~~~~~~~~~~2 hours later 4:30 P.M.
Rainbow was so nervous. She really did not want to screw this up. She had never spent so much time in her life planning like she did a couple hours ago.
She still had an hour before she was supposed to perform. But she decided she needed to get to her jumping position half an hour before then. She decided she would need somepony around just in case things went horribly wrong. She knew that Twilight would probably be able to help her better than anypony else, but she must be sure she has a backup plan if needed.
She flew over to Sugar cube corner. Rainbow landed on the welcome mat softly. She dusted herself off and walked into the bakery.
"Oh hello rainbow what brings you here?" Mrs. Cake said with a smile on her face.
"I'm looking for Pinkie. I need to talk to her. Do you know where she is?"
"Oh she just left, didn't say where she was going, Sorry. What did you need her for?"
"Oh, ok thanks for the help. And it's personal, kinda. You'll probably know when it happens" Rainbow said and walked out the door.
'Where could she have gone?.. If I were Pinkie where would I go..' Dash didn't know why she asked herself this question. If she had remembered correctly, nobody had ever correctly predicted what Pinkie Pie would do next. Pinkie Pie had no emotions, really, she was just one big emotion that nopony else could feel.
Dash took off and soared through the air scouting ponyville. She searched every corner until she found Pinkie happily bouncing along the streets heading in no particular direction.
"Hey Pinkie! wait up I need to talk to you!" Dash shouted as she rushed towards pinkie.
Pinkie came to a halt "Sure Dashie whats up?" She asked cheerfully
"Well I'm trying to do a trick to impress Twilight and I wanted you to be there just in case something bad happens."
"OoooOOoooOo sounds really cool! Unless you get hurt then it wouldn't be very cool, but i guess it would still be cool because your the one doing it! But nopony likes to get hurt, and i don't like seeing my friends get hurt at all!"
"That is why I need you there. If something does go wrong I will most likely get hurt, However if you are there then it will probably be a lot less worse than it could be without you there."
"Sure I'll be there! When is it? Where is it? Did you say cupcakes? Oh no I'm just hearing things again!" Pinkie said giggling.
"It should happen in about 30 minutes if all goes well, it could be an hour but an hour at most, just hide in the bushes somewhere on the way to sweet apple acres. Please it would really mean a lot to me."
"I already said I would you silly filly! You can count on me! Well not literally you cant count on any pony! Well I guess you could but-" She was stopped by Rainbow
"Okay thanks a lot pinkie!" Dash said as she flew away. Why did she go to pinkie? Because pinkie was the only pony that knew Twi and Dash where seeing each other. Why was she the only pony that knew? Because she was the only one she told about her crush on Twi. Why was she the only one that she told? Because pinkie is the best at keeping secrets. Why was pinkie the best at keeping secrets? Nobody really knows.
Dash, with a new confidence burning inside of her, flew up to the cloud she planned to start her decent off of to her starting point.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pinkie was hiding behind in a bush after she saw where dash landed. She waited. She couldn't stay still so she played with her hoofs to pass the time. She was anxious to see what dashie was going to do. She was excited, So excited that she wanted to throw a party!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Spike, I'm going to help AppleJack out on her farm, I'll be back in a couple of hours!" Twilight called to her number one assistant.
"Okay twilight! I'll see you soon." Spike replied and decided he was going to take a nap.
Twilight wondered what the dragon would do, She had a good guess, well two good guesses, but who knows.
Twilight also wondered why applejack wanted her to help on the farm. Applejack knows as well as anypony that twilight isnt the best pony for farm work. She was clueless but she just kept walking, What are friends for anyway? Twilight hadn't seen rainbow dash since she came by to ask what she was doing. That seemed strange to her, rainbow was always outside flying around or trying to spend time with her.
Twilight was wondering when she and rainbow were going to break it to their friends that they were dating. She at first agreed with rainbow that they should keep it a secret. But she had second thoughts now. They had been dating for a couple of weeks, they couldn't hide it forever, their friends would eventually find out one way or another. Rarity had noticed that Twilight and rainbow were together much more often than they were before, so she is obviously curious. She pushed the thoughts out of her head and kept walking on the road to sweet apple acres.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pinkie Pie felt something. It wasn't good. Her pinkie sense had gone into action. She knew the message: Some really bad was about to happen. Pinkie wondered what. Then she remembered that dash had said something like "If something does go wrong I will get injured. But with you here it will be much better than if you weren't here." Pinkies eyes widened and she was filled with fear. she jumped out of the bush she was hiding in to go and try to warn Rainbow Dash.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Twilight was halfway to sweet apple acres at 5:48 P.M. She realized she needed to pick up the pace or it would get dark while she was walking. She saw pinkie jump out of the push eyes wide with fear and then she saw a pink glob moving faster than the eye can see. Just pinkie being pinkie she thought. Then pinkie started to come towards Twilight. It took pinkie 7 seconds to run a hundred feet to end up right next to pinkie.
"TWILIGHT YOU HAVE TO HELP ME QUICK SOMETHING REALLY REALLY BAD IS GOING TO HAPPEN!!!" The pink pony shouted with a worried look on her face.
"Slow down Pinkie, whats going to happen?" Twilight replied confused.
"I don't know! My Pinkie sense went off and it told me that something really really really bad was about to happen! And rainbow said she was going to do a really really really dangerous trick! you have to help me stop her before she ends up hurting herself!" Pinkie replied quickly and ran closer to where Rainbow's cloud was above her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Twilight was galloping frantically after Pinkie. Now Twilight was worried. As soon as pinkie said it had something to do with rainbow getting hurt she started to freak out. Her mind was racing with questions. Why is rainbow doing something that could injure her? Scratch that. What is rainbow doing that could hurt her? How badly would she get hurt? Will she be okay? Will I ever get to see her again? As that last question entered her head tears started to form in her eyes. She didn't know what she would do if she could never see dash again. She would be heart broken. She would probably be locked into her library for weeks crying. She would blame it on herself if Rainbow got hurt.
She forced the bad thoughts out her mind and started telling herself that rainbow was going to be fine. At the worst it would be a few cuts and bruises. Then another thought entered her head. What about Applejack? She lost granny Smith a month ago? What if she lost Dash too? How could she handle that? Applejack would be morally injured. She couldn't possibly deal with losing one of her best friends along with her beloved granny!
Twilight forced those thoughts out of her head too and made a promise to herself that she would not let anything happen to Rainbow Dash. For Her sake. For Their relationship. For her friends. And for all of Equestria. That thought popped into her head that Rainbow was one of the six elements of harmony. If something happened and she wasnt able to be there.. the elements would be useless. Rainbow was important. Important to Twilight and equestria. Nothing would stop twilight from protecting dash from death. She would stop at nothing to keep dash alive. Twilight would never forgive herself if the love of her life got away from her so soon after meeting her. She will not let their friendship die now. Rainbow was too young to die. She had so much life left in her. She was going to become a wonderbolt. She was going to be famous. She was going to have a happy life. Twilight let tears freely roll down her cheeks and she sped faster catching up to the incredibly fast and physic-defying Pinkie Pie.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rainbow saw Twilight finally. She prepared herself. She spread her wings and got into a jumping position. Then she jumped.
Sorry about the long wait guys. Anyway I did my best at a cliffhanger because we all love cliff hangers. Enjoy. EDIT: To all people who stop here because of my terrible writing, give it until Chapter 4. Thats when it doesn't suck worse than anything in the world.
