Navi got sick of Lonk's trash after Ocarina Of Time and so went off on her own, finding herself in the country of Equestria in the form of a breezie. She had only one choice of what to do in this land without heroes: Save the day, beat the bad guys, and have her own legend. Screw Lonk and Zelder, Navi can have adventures on her own! With blackjack! And hookers!

Oh, and Epona decided to go with her. So she has that dingus as a sidekick.
